Chapter Text
“That was really rude, you know!” Kaguya exclaimed, pointing a finger accusingly at Mokou. “I spent so long prettying up for this, and now I gotta do it all again!”
Mokou scoffed. “It didn’t work, because I just got pissed when I saw your stupid face.”
“You didn’t need to melt it off! The villagers are now all worked up!” As if to reiterate her point, her body finished regenerating with an audible pop. Of course Kaguya didn’t have to make the noise, but she’d learned that it made people more comfortable if there was some sign that she had resurrected. Indeed, they were already turning back to the cherry blossoms and their drinks having ascertained that the randomly immolating girl was just fine, but there were still a couple of glances being thrown their way.
“… Jeez,” Mokou complained, but the fires died down a little bit, literally and figuratively. “…”
“Eh? My apologies, I couldn’t quite pick that up?”
“…”
“Still can’t hear you~”
“I’m sorry,” Mokou said, albeit with a (very cute!) pout. “We’re all good,” she announced to everyone watching, including a watchful Hakurei shrine maiden. “Just a bit of a spat.”
“Now was that so hard~”
“Don’t make me take it back,” Mokou groaned. “I still owe you one for when you strangled me. Just a bit of face fire doesn’t match up to that.”
“I would be more than happy to relitigate that particular exchange later, but for now, the cherry blossoms are quite beautiful, and I would like to enjoy them,” Kaguya said, rather calmly for a girl who had just died. She was the very picture of elegance, wasn’t she? Yes, indeed. Now for a bit of subtle revenge… “I would ask you to help me get back into my best cherry blossom fashion, though….”
Mokou’s eyes went wide. “You can’t be serious.”
Kaguya hid her face behind her fan to hide her very inelegant laugh. “Oh, I can. Udongein, please fetch me my makeup~”
