Chapter 1: Arima Amaranthus
Chapter Text
I looked at my phone, my heart beating at a fast speed while my eyes were trying their hardest to not tear up. I was trembling but I had to stay calm and collected. The incomprehensible feeling lingering inside of me was immeasurable.
Stated at the post created by Kurokawa Akane was, "Hello everyone! I would just like to announce that me and Aqua are getting married soon!" with a picture of her showing off her ring on her ring finger.
I chuckled and smiled whilst closing my eyes in defeat. 'I guess it was never meant to be in the first place, huh?'
"But then, what am I gonna do with you?" I said, glancing at my stomach all the while wrapping my arms around it.
"So, it's just you and me."
I was doing my hardest to compel the screams of agony on the deliverance of my child. The pain was incomparable. But, it was worth it once I got to hold him in my arms. He was like a carbon copy of Aqua. With the same golden locks and captivating blue eyes.
"Hmm.. what should I name you?" I said, putting on a thinking face.
Then, an idea came to mind. "To symbolize my everlasting love towards you for the years to come and the never-ending love I have hidden in store for your father, I will name you Amaranthus." I smiled warmly at him, watching him still fast asleep.
Tears started to trim down my eyes as I looked at my baby that I held closely in my arms with a loving and warm gaze. It was a bittersweet feeling. The joy and profound of being a mother. So this is what it feels like.. genuine happiness.
I held his tiny and petite hand, intertwining our fingers with one another. I moved my head closer to his and rubbed it against his cheek. After doing so, I gave him a bright smile, welcoming him to the world.
"Welcome to the world, Arima Amaranthus."
My eyes widened when, the baby had moved, squirming in my arms. Amaranthus opened his eyes, giving me a clueless but cute gaze. I poked his nose in amusement in which he scrunched his nose and I couldn't help but let out a laugh.
Even though Aqua is currently married to Akane meaning that Akane had won our petty rivalry, I can't help but think that i won having blessed with such a cute and adorable baby in my arms.
I lifted him high in the air and let out a giggle. "You're so light! Once you start growing up, let's feed you lots, yeah?" I smiled at the last part. I didn't have a good childhood so, I know how it feels to feel absence in familial love, that's why, even though I'm still new to motherhood.. I'll definitely make sure Amaranthus won't experience the same thing as me.
I lowered him and embraced him in a warm hug. A sign of love and a display of affection.
Meanwhile, in a dark room, crumpled paper scattered all over and a man sitting on a chair gripping tight his hair. A look on his face that is petrified. He seems to have a dead set look on his face that seems to not be able to accept what he had just seen.
"No.. no... no...." He mumbled while trembling.
"Arima Kana... you fucking liar." He paused for a slight second before continuing, "You said you wouldn't do this to us... you fucking whore." He said the last part under his breathe.
He looked at his palm, looking like an insane person. He let out a cackle and picked up the knife on his desk.
Tears started to form on his eyes and flowing down his cheek.
He cackled loudly as he pointed the knife to his stomach.
"Ha.. ha.. HAHAHA..!"
"This is all your fault you bitch." He glanced to his side and looked at a poster of Kana while angrily glaring at her face.
Then, a stab was heard, blood had started to drip from his stomach. But, despite the agony and pain he's feeling right now, he instead laughs like a madman.
"Just you wait. You'll be next soon." He muttered before his eyes started to close and he limped on his chair, his lifeless body still sitting on the chair.
"A...choo!" Kana sneezed and rubbed her hand on her nose. "Is someone talking about me?" She wondered.
She barged open the door with an ecstatic look on her face. She placed her arms on her hips and yelled at a loud volume, "Welcome home!"
After she continued walking inside the apartment she glanced at a picture hanging on her wall. She smiled softly and waved at the picture.
"HI, Ruby and Mem-cho!" The picture was her, Ruby, and Mem-cho back when she was still the center of B-Komachi. She smiled while the memories flooded her.
She let out a long sigh and continued on.

Chapter 2: Hoshino Aika
Summary:
He walked towards me and asked, "Can I?" I nodded in response, in which he held the baby in his arms, looking at her face.
"She looks just like Aqua." Ruby commented.
"She does." I agreed.
"What are you gonna name her?" Aqua inquired, turning to look at me again.
"Hmm..." I thought about it thoroughly and brightened up saying, "Ah! I choose Aika." I exclaimed.
"....Aika?" Ruby turned to look at me with a confused look.
"It means love song.. love to represent our never-ending love for her and song to represent the Harmonious and peaceful life that we wish her to have." I stated with a warm and soft smile.
Chapter Text
After taking a picture of both her and Aqua, Akane smiled to herself before placing down her phone.
"You seem to really like taking pictures, Akane-chan." Ruby said, beaming as always.
"Mhm!" Akane had replied in exclamation before continuing, "For the memories ofcourse!"
"Don't tire yourself too much." Aqua said.
Akane giggled and just held her belly close. She looked down and smiled warmly, thinking about the future.
"Don't worry too much.." She replied to Aqua's statement with a laugh, amused with Aqua's sense of responsibility.
It was painful, yes. But, when I held my baby in my arms, I couldn't help but feel that it was worth it. Her plump cheeks, to her fair skin, and her features that resembled Aqua was absolutely adorable and something that I can't help but be happy about. Is this the joy of being a mother? If so, I adore it.
I can't wait until she grows up and both me and Aqua will be by her side, supporting her through her future endeavors.
Just the thought of it makes me so happy.
I got startled when a loud bang was heard. It was both Aqua and Ruby by the entrance of the doorway, opening the door loudly with seemingly worried faces that gradually turned into faces of relief.
"Akane-chan!" Ruby marched over to me and embraced me tight.
"I'm so glad you're well!" Ruby tightened her embrace. It was understandable as to why they both had worn those expressions.. having lost their mother and being abandoned by their father at such young ages, they would be acting like this. Especially Ruby, since she's the more sensitive one out of the two.
"Ofcourse." I replied, sighing with a beam.
After Ruby let go, she looked at the baby that I held in my arms and widened her eyes with a bright expression.
"KYA!" She yelped out before poking the baby on the nose continuously. "She's so adorable!" She said, blushing and giggling.
I just smiled at her actions and looked at Aqua.
"Aqua?" I softly asked. Aqua had widened eyes and looked like as if he was gonna cry.
Ruby just laughed and elbowed playfully her brother. "Aqua here was worried sick the whole time! He's probably just teary because the delivery was a success."
Aqua glared at her in response.
He had softened his expression and turned to look at me, ignoring the nagging Ruby.
"Wow!" Ruby giggled at the end of her phrase. "She's gonna be a bright child when she grows up!"
Ruby placed her arms around Aqua and Akane and moved them closer to her. Smiling brightly she exclaimed, "I'm so excited for what's to come!"
Ruby probably can't notice it but, Aqua is smiling along his sister's words. No matter how much anyone tries to deny it, Aqua will always be the happiest when with his sister.
"Especially after everything that's happened.." Ruby said under her breathe.
In the car ride home, the three had a very.. interesting "conversation" that resulted to an awkward silence on the way.
The conversation started with Ruby asking a particular question to her brother.
"Oni-chan.. have you heard from Kana-chan lately?"
Akane widened her eyes and stopped scrolling down her phone after hearing Ruby's question.
"...No..." Aqua just replied with hesitation and sighing at the end.
An awkward and tensed up atmosphere scattered around the car.
Ruby was awkwardly sitting behind the two, realizing what she had just asked, questioning herself for ever asking that question.
After arriving at their house, Akane immediately got out of the car with Aika in her arms and went inside the house first.
Both Ruby and Aqua just stood next to eachother awkwardly.
"Haaa.. I shouldn't have asked that. Sorry Oni." Ruby said looking down.
Aqua place his hand on Ruby's shoulder and just said in assurance, "It's alright. I'll go talk to her, ill be right back."
After Aqua walked out of the scene, Ruby sighed and pulled out her phone, going through her contacts.
She looked at 'Kana Arima" for a solid few seconds and asked to herself, "Where are you Kana-chan? Me and Mem-cho are getting really worried."
"Achoo!" Mem-cho sneezed and stared at Kana for a second and asked, "Is someone talking about me?"
"I... don't know..?" Kana just replied cluelessly.
Mem-cho laughed and held Amaranthus up high, swinging him around which caused Kana to panic.
"Mem-cho!!" Kana yelled out while Mem-cho just giggled at her expression, still continuing with her shenanigans.
Aqua knocked on the door and asked, "Akane? Can we talk?"
"Don't worry. I'm not mad." She just said in an unbothered tone.
"Are you sure?" Aqua walked closer to her and sat beside her as she continued placing Aika on her crib.
"Yeah." Akane turned to look at him with a smile, reassuring him.
'I'm honestly worried for her too..' She said in her thoughts.
Late at midnight, Akane was woken up by a call sent to her by an unknown number.
She answered the call and asked, "Hello? Who is this?"
"Is this Hoshino Akane?" The caller inquired in an eerie and mysterious tone that made Akane tense up a bit.
"Yes.. why?" Akane replied, in a firm tone thistime.
"Do you happen to be acquainted with Arima Kana?"
Chapter 3: One dark star
Summary:
The woman seemed like she had said something but, her voice was vivid, unclear to his ears. But then, he could finally hear her talk. Her voice was like music to his ears, it made him feel assurance and safety.
"Amaranthus." The woman mused.
He wasn't much of a big fan of floriagraphy but he knew it. Amaranthus are flowers used to represent a person's love for another.
"Welcome to the world, Arima Amaranthus." She spoke softly.
I'm Arima Amaranthus? But I'm... wait. Who was I again?
......
...right!
I was... Kamiki Hikaru.
Chapter Text
Last thing he remembered was his a face similar to his. Same blue sapphire eyes that shone black and empty stars and the same vibrant blonde hair. But, what differed was the heart inside.
His was dull and black while the one infront him was full of life and sympathy.
As they spoke, he felt a tingle on his stomach. He looked down and grinned like a fool. He had just been stabbed by a knife. By his own son.
It was inevitable, since he knew he had to atone for his sins one day. What happened next was history.
He felt his body's numbness and how it felt empty and odd, as if he was floating somewhere, someplace he doesn't know. It was deserving for a sinner like him who has done nothing but cause pain to others.
Weirdly enough, he felt a tear drop on his cheek. Was it his? No way. He never cries. He shouldn't cry.
He felt his eyelids lifting and appeared before him were crimson red hair and ruby red eyes. A woman who's eyes continued dripping tears.
Who was this woman? Why does he feel so.. warm and comfortable when he shouldn't be?
It didn't take me long to realize that I had just been reincarnated and given a second chance at life.. but why? What did I do to deserve such a privilege?
But one thing I know for sure is that, my appearance hasn't changed from my previous one's. I still have the same blonde hair and the same blue eyes with.. huh? weird. My star.. it's white. And I only have one on my right eye.. The stars on my eyes in my previous life were dark and gloomy, stars that screamed manipulation and anger.
But one thing was different, I felt at peace. Unlike in my previous life, I always felt bothered by everything but now, every little thing that used to annoy me has grown into me. I felt normal.
But, it's still weird being a baby and playing with toys at my internal age.. but I guess it's fine. I have to act as normal as possible to be normal. I have to do things my mother in this life won't speculate.
But... 'I think I already failed...'
Why did I fail exactly? Well..
30 minutes ago. My mother was washing the dishes and her friend was watching over me in behalf of my mom. Everything was normal. Until, I saw a chessboard on the floor.
Oka-san's friend glanced at me and said playfully, "Do you wanna play?~"
I sweat-dropped at her tone but nodded regardless which caught her off-guard.
"O-ok.. but don't cry when you lose okay!" She exclaimed confidently. But, she clearly didn't know what was coming.
Only 10 minutes into the game, I had already won. Attaining a checkmate.
Oka-san's friend froze to her horror of being beaten by a 1 month old child. She jumped and asked, "H-how do you know how to play chess!!??" She pointed at me accusingly.
Then, to my surprise, oka-san had been behind the couch all this time, witnessing how I won and beat her friend.
Her Ruby red eyes widened in shock. She croke a cold sweat and immediately gestured for her friend to hand me over to her.
Uh oh... is she gonna suspect me— "My son is an intellectual!!" She enthusiastically exclaimed happily with an evident smile curled up on her lips.
"Well, that would explain it.." Her friend squinted her eyes at me suspiciously.
I averted my gaze and fell into despair. 'So much for trying to be normal..' I thought after letting my intrusive thoughts of hurting oka-san's friend's ego win.
"....Yes, I do know her but we're not exactly, 'acquainted'." Akane hesitated at first but eventually spoke.
"Well, I just wanted to ask.. Do you have an idea of who Arima Amaranthus is?" The unknown caller hummed.
She thought about it thoroughly and replied with a "No—" Before she could finish her reply, Aqua groaned behind her, "Why are you still awake Akane?" eventually leading to the unknown caller hanging up the call.
"Who was that?" Aqua sat up.
"I don't know..." She started taking some mental notes about the unknown caller in which she tried to call their number back but no answer was ever returned.
"Damn it." A voice, raspy and low scoffed in annoyance.
Chapter 4: The brightest star
Summary:
When I was contemplating and trying to figure out the things currently happening down there. A white light shone at me, which led me to cover my face with my hands. I squeezed my eyes. I opened one of them and was met with a white ceiling. All of a sudden, I had the urge to wail relentlessly. Which was odd but was inevitable nonetheless.
As I continued to wail like a newborn, I heard a heavy sigh hover over me. Soon, huge hands lifted me and a pair of sapphire blue eyes met with mine.
"You're awfully loud tonight, Aika." He yawned tiredly.
Aika? Who's Aika?
"WAAAHHH!!!" I continued wailing.
I was stumped but eventually realized that he was talking to me and.. weirdly enough... he looks identical to Aqua.
Wait!— Is this what they call.. REINCARNATION???!!

Chapter Text
Ever since that knife slit through my abdomen, I continued watching over my children from above. I witnessed how they fought, reconciled, and even reached their goals in life. I couldn't help but shed a tear after seeing my son, Aqua, all grown up and get married with the woman he swore to be with all his life. Ruby had become an idol just like her mother and even reached New heights her mother couldn't. I was most definitely thankful for Miyako. Because she raised and stood by my children's side when I couldn't. I felt at peace knowing that my children were happy, content, and thriving in life.
But, one thing I noticed was my son Aqua and how he killed his own father, Hikaru, in cold blood. i wasn't fond of what he did. Sure, Hikaru wasn't a pure and innocent soul but he was still his father. I had atleast wished that my children wouldn't stray off the right path and pursue the dark and awry path of darkness.
I was intrigued with how calculating and cunning Akane was and how amazing she fitted with Aqua. But, I was also devastated when I witnessed that red haired girl running away with tears trimming down her eyes.
A few days later after I had calmed down and gotten used to all this. Long story short, I was reincarnated as my son's first born! Now, would you look at that, it seems like God wants me to look after my children more closely.. I smiled at the thought.
My hair was different from my previous life as Ai Hoshino. Instead of Ivory purple with pink highlights. I was met with porcelain blonde hair and midnight blue eyes with a star on my left eye. I think I could honestly get used to this.. especially when I can not only watch over my children, I can also relive a childhood I couldn't have back then as Ai Hoshino.
Ai Hoshino was a star. Ai Hoshino was what you would call a once in a lifetime idol. She was perfect. She was a lie. But now, she was Hoshino Aika. She wasn't an idol. She was a child. A clueless child in the eyes of others. She was content about this.
I flinched hearing a knock. I turned to the door and heard a creak. Slowly showing was my other child. Or I guess she's my aunt now, This really feels weird but somewhat exciting in a way. Either way, I was glad I was given a chance to live once again, especially when I'm this close to my children.
I let out baby sounds. Sounds babies would make in a happy and enthusiastic tone. I made sure to give my best smile. A smile that wasn't a lie. A smile that was genuine. Genuine like that time I said I love you without it being a lie. Oh.. I became sad again. Why am I sad? I shouldn't be. I have a family that loves me now.
"HI, Aika!" She picked me up and sat me down her arm.
She pinched my nose and smiled brightly, "You're growing! Soon enough, you'll be able to surpass me in height!" She playfully added, winking at the last part.
I cooed and giggled at her antics. She soon placed me down, gesturing me to continue playing with my toys.
She brought out a camera and took a picture of me. Me on the otherhand was embarrassed when I noticed myself unconsciously drooling. I froze and immediately covered my face in embarrassment.
She laughed and looked at me with a warm and soft gaze. Ruby then called out for Aqua and Akane for a family picture.
"Ni-chan, Akane-chan! I wanna take a picture of you three!" She mused happily.
Aqua appeared and soon followed Akane. Aqua was yawning clearly tired. Akane on the other hand was glowing but was equally as tired as Aqua.
Akane picked me up and smiled poking my nose with a playful expression. Aqua smiled at her motion. Then, as Aqua moved closer to the both of us, placing his arm around Akane's shoulder while I layed on Akane's arms, we all smiled in sync. Then, a flash shone. After Ruby finished, she immediately showed us the picture. It was an adorable image of a family with their 1 month old daughter. It was definitely going in the picture book.
"Mem-cho? Where have you been? You ghosted me! You said you were gonna come with me to Ni-chan's house and that we were gonna visit together!" Ruby pouted, her cheeks red.
"I know! Sorry Ruby! I'll try next time. I promise!" Mem-cho's voice rang through the phone.
"Geez, didn't you say you were on a hiatus? Why are you suddenly so busy?" Ruby raised an eyebrow. "And— on top of it all. You didn't even get to meet their daughter yet! She's really cute by the way." Ruby hummed.
"Oooo! Send me pics." Mem-cho hummed in return. Clearly trying to avoid Ruby's first question.
Ofcourse, Ruby stayed oblivious to that fact and continued talking with mem-cho about situations, gossips, and all those things concerning her within her career as an idol. Mem-cho gave some of her comments in between and they both continued rambling about their personal experiences about certain things.
"It would really be easy for me to expose her secrets if that blue haired girl would just stop snooping around." A voice groaned.
"We could've used her if only that..nuisance wasn't with her. Their minds practically think alike. We can't fool them." Another voice emerged and commented.
"But.. there is this one person. A certain streamer perhaps?" The previous voice smirked.
"Now, that's a good idea. She could become handy. After were done with her. We'll shut her off by ending her." A voice cackled.
"We just need the right time."

Happy new year! <333
Chapter 5: Burying the past
Summary:
He raised his head and stared at the ceiling that had a bunch of stars etched on it. There was a red star and a blue star with a bunch of plain white stars surrounding the two. There was also an ivory blue star but, it peeled off the ceiling. As if it didn't belong there.
Amaranthus was now 3 years old. No.. he was now 36 years old. The longer he stared at the ceiling the more his eyelids felt heavy, too heavy to keep lifting.

Chapter Text
Birds were chirping under the moonlit sky as a Kana slowly but affectionately tucks Amaranthus to bed. Kana slowly pats Amaranthus' head fondly, soon afterwards, she kissed his forehead lightly. Amaranthus gave his mother a small smile as Kana stood up, said goodnight, and turned off the lights before closing the door quietly.
After Amaranthus made sure she was gone, he lifted his eyelids and let out an exhausted sigh 'Tomorrow is my first day at daycare..' He shouldn't be nervous since he knows he's an adult deep inside but.. it's still so nerve-wreaking! He's a child now, so he also has the mind of one. Ofcourse he's gonna be nervous.
Hikaru woke up and gasped loudly as he felt himself suffocating and floating in a black void with nothingness. His pupil gradually dwindles as he saw a familiar figure slowly forming out of pure nothingness. His expression darkens.
Airi Himekawa.
He stared in disbelief, ignoring how suffocated he feels right now as if someone was trying to choke him. His expression slowly darkens rapidly as if in a chase when he sees his own reflection. He looked different again.
"Hikaru~" Airi warmly muses slyly like a fox.
Hikaru didn't know what to do. He couldn't move. He can only stare as the actress slips her hands around Hikaru's waist. He could feel her breathe trailing down his neck to his shoulders. Then, traumatic events start replaying through his mind in a daze. He was scared but his face remained expressionless.
She's dead. She's dead. She's dead. She's dead. SHE'S ALREADY DEAD.
His vision starts becoming blurry as a violet haired beauty starts forming behind Airi with such a warm smile staring at him lovingly. She was trying to say something but was interrupted when a familiar voice kicks in.
"Mara!!" Kana yelled out. Amaranthus then, sat up in a rapid pace and started panting with sweat dripping down his face. He started calming down when he realized he was in his bedroom.
He stroke his face and ran to their bathroom without his mother noticing, too busy with cooking turn around and spot Amaranthus sneakily rush towards the bathroom. He then ran to a mirror rather hastily, standing on a stool. When he saw his appearance still the same, he sighed in relief. He then continued to stare at his reflection and gritted his teeth as tears started to form and slowly drop to his cheeks like rainfall. After his rather emotional state that he'd rather not talk about right now, he quickly wiped his tears away using his fists, afraid of his mother finding out. He straightened himself and touched his reflection that was etched on the mirror infront of him. He grimaced at his reflection but took a glance at himself one more time. He didn't like how similar he looked to Hikaru.
His eyes were red and puffy so to make sure not to make anything seem too obvious, he washed his face and thankfully, it didn't appear too obvious to notice.
Then, Kana barged open the door and yelled, "Mara!!—" she stilled when she saw her son. Her baby boy. The one she swore to give all her love to and knelt down just near Amaranthus' height before she embraced him tight in a warm hug that left Amaranthus' heart throb with the unfamiliar yet familiar sensation nonetheless.
"Oka-san.. what are you-" Before Amaranthus could finish his words he was shushed by his mother, her finger on his lips, gesturing him to stay quiet.
Kana then pushed back and cupped Amaranthus' cheek with a fond look plastered on her face. Her lips curved into a small yet reassuring smile before softly saying, "Honey, I know you're a mature child, capable of handling yourself. But, let's not keep the burdens to ourselves alright? You can talk to oka-san whenever you like about all your problems. That's what I'm supposed to do." She hesitated before thumbing the sides of Amaranthus' eyes musing, "Was it a bad dream?" She asked with a concerned look.
Amaranthus tensed before nodding reluctantly. "It's hard for me to talk about.. " He murmured, looking down.
Kana pinched his cheeks making Amaranthus yelp, scrunching his nose. She chuckled and affectionately says, "Then I won't force you to. Only when you're ready, my star." After that, she kissed his forehead and told him to take a bath and change into his clothes quickly since time was at the essence.
Kana closed the door behind her and slumped her shoulders before pushing her back against the door looking at her ceiling, letting out a shaky breath. She was gonna be a great mother to her son, she thought. Greater than her own. She was gonna make him the happiest child alive, even without his father playing the role he should've in his life.
She straightened herself and hummed while walking towards the kitchen. Continuing to cook sunny-side eggs, making orange juice, and preparing the table until Amaranthus was finished taking a bath and putting on the clothes Kana had prepared for him.
Kana sat on her chair and watched as Amaranthus walked over towards the table which Kana helped lift him up to sit on the chair. "Itadakimasu!" They both exclaimed.
"Are you excited for today Mara?" Kana asked him.
Amaranthus shook his head nervously, fidgeting his fingers. Kana sighed before saying, "Atleast make some friends, yeah?" She perked up when he nodded and beamed, already imagining her son with his newly acquired friends.
To Hikaru, this was all he could ask for. A loving mother attending to his every need and giving him love unconditionally without expecting anything in return. For once, he was content with his life. He had to let go of the woman that traumatized him, of the woman he loved but was too cowardice to face, and the children he left.
He had to set all his past as Hikaru aside. Because as of this moment, Hikaru has long been buried deep within him and is now just a fragment of his past. He was now Arima Amaranthus, and he was happy. Wasn't that the purpose of bestowing him this second life?
Notes:
I was gonna finish this a long time ago but I was lazy to publish it and keep on writing it. so, I finished it just now :/! Sorry for the delay..
I was trying to make a chapter where Hiakru would stop mentioning about his time as Hikaru and instead focus on his life now as Amaranthus. Burying his past. So, it's all Amaranthus now but Hikaru will appear every now and then :))
Edit : It sucked so I changed some things xoxo
Chapter 6: When two stars meet
Summary:
"Forget what I said." He averted from her gaze. "No. What do you mean 'like me too'? Were you given a second life like me? Do you remember your past life? Cause I do too!"
They both sat in silence for a moment before coming to a revelation ; they were both reincarnates. It took them some time to take it all in but, they were glad that they were both able to meet eachother. They could finally talk to someone about their past life and stuff. There was no need for secrecy with eachother.
Notes:
I wanted to add some of Ai's POV but I was suddenly pulled to make this about Hikaru once again, but! Ai will make some appearances.
Be ready to hear more of Aika and Amaranthus instead of Ai and Hikaru tho!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
His mother had just dropped him off to daycare. And he already hates it.
It's too loud and there are too many noises coming from every direction. He sees one kid gripping her mother's sleeve tight, clinging onto her like a leech. Then next to them he sees a boy just his age wailing unbearably like a newborn baby. And it annoys him that his mother expects him to make friends with these kids. Though, he guesses he's a kid too but, that was besides his point.
He sat there on the floor reading some childish children's book called Hansel and Gretel. Though, he swears he's heard this story before and the contents were far more disturbing than what was on the book.
He glanced to his side and saw a girl with pigtails that were the exact shade of his blonde with ivory blue eyes making her way over to sit next to him. He narrows his eyes and squirms just opposite from the girl and continues with what he was doing.
He scrunches his nose when he took notice of how the girl moved closer to him. He fires back and says, "Do you mind?" he scowled.
She blinked at him and giggled playfully which made Amaranthus deadpan. "What?" he glared menacingly at her.
"Why are you so grumpy?" She crossed her arms and let out a 'hmph' which irritated Amaranthus more. He was about to protest when she shushed him and introduced herself— which Amaranthus did not want, "I'm Hoshino Aika! What's your name?" She beamed but stilled when she saw his face, as pale as a ghost.
'Hoshino?' He thought.
I should have known. From her awfully familiar blonde locks that was tied to a pigtail and eyes almost the same blue as mine. She's Aquamarine's daughter. My son. My son who killed me with no remorse whatsoever. My son who is more like me than he ought to know. She was surely Akane Kurokawa's daughter too. But, from the way she carried herself in a cheerful manner, I saw more of Ai in her than her parents. I'd hate to admit it, but, there was this warm sensation that filled my heart when she was cheerful and full of wonder together with her child-like innocence that made her so much more lovable than she should've. I couldn't help but smile at the thought that my children are happy. But, grimaced when I realized they didn't need me, and to make it worser than it already is, I wasn't there to be a father to them when I was supposed too.
My heart ached tremendously when I came to that realization.
But, it was all the more that I started to wonder who my father was. From the looks of it, me and his daughter can definitely pull off as twins. The only thing that differentiated us were our eyes which were different shades of blue. But, other than that, it was all too suspicious to not notice.
"Hey..?" Aika called out with a concerned look etched on her face.
Then, she jumped when he suddenly yelped out something as if he finally managed to get the answer to all his problems. He turned to her which made her quiver beneath him. But, she was shocked to see him close his book with a huff and offer his hand out.
"Hi, nice to meet you Aika, I'm Amaranthus." Aika's then widened eyes turned into confusion. Amaranthus sighed, cursing whoever gave him his name but stopped halfway, not having it in him to curse his own mother. "Just call me Mara."
"I don't like Mara. It sounds too girly." She teased. She put on her thinking face and brightened, "Oh, I know! How about I call you Aran?" She suggested.
"No, I prefer Mara." He said with a blank expression.
Aika let out an exasperated sigh and insisted.
"No, Aran."
"Mara."
"Aran."
Amaranthus arched a brow and glared at her— in which she retorted by sticking her tongue out.
"Mara."
"Aran."
"Mara."
"Aran."
"Aran."
"Mara. Oh- wait!" She fumbled which Amaranthus found fun in.
She grumbled and sat closer next to him until they bumped shoulders. Amaranthus stared at her with an obviously bothered look but it seemed she didn't get the hint and continued rambling to him nonstop.
"Wait." Amaranthus stopped to lock eyes with her before continuing, "How are you speaking so casually with me? Aren't you 3 years old?" He blinked.
Aika froze and tried to say something but her words came off more as a stutter which made Amaranthus speculate her even more.
"Are you like me too?" Amaranthus blurted out. He then covered his mouth with his hand, looking shocked as if he wasnt supposed to say that(he wasn't).
Ofcourse, Aika was quick to break the silence. "I was Ai Hoshino in my past life. How about you?" Her words left Amaranthus speechless.
He swallowed and asked, "A-Ai? The idol?" a part of him wanted her to shake her head and deny him but, she nodded which made him tense up even more.
"... I heard you were gonna perform at the big dome. You were gonna make it big," He felt guilty for asking that because he knew he was the reason why she couldn't.
"Yeah.. but, that's a story for another time! Tell me more about yourself!!" She exclaimed.
Amaranthus decided to keep his past identity a secret, only giving very few information about his past self to not drive her away. He missed their small talks and conversations. She was still the same as before and he was thrilled, even if he tried to deny it. She rambled on about her whole life story that he was all too familiar with, but nodded along her chatter and slipped din comments every now and then, laughing when it was funny and quiet when it was sad. She told the tale of how she died, that it was all too sudden and that she wanted to see her children grow. Then, she brushed it off and said how she watched after her children from above.
"Why are you telling me all this?" He asked with clear intentions.
"You seem like a nice guy." She mused. Hikaru froze and laughed it off but deep inside, his heart was throbbed with sorrow and regret. It was all his fault.
He exchanged words with her, setting aside his personal feelings. They chatted until his mother arrived to pick him up.
"Hi, miss!" Aika waved her hand eagerly at his mother.
Kana looked at her and tensed. Amaranthus stared at her as Kana continued to look at Aika with with pained expression. She shook her head and replied, "Hello too sweetheart. Are you Mara's friend?" She asked warmly.
Aika nodded and smiled brightly like the true star that she is, Amaranthus thought.
"I'm Aika Hoshino." She introduced herself and Amaranthus took note of Kana's frozen place.
They both bid farewell to eachother and Kana took Amaranthus' hand and they both left the daycare, hand in hand.
Kana ruffled Amaranthus' hair and smiled fondly at him. "I didn't know you had it in you, star."
He nodded and looked down quietly while taking glances towards his mother.
"What is it, Mara?" She said while glancing to where Amaranthus was.
"What do you think of Aika?" Amaranthus asked.
"She's great—"
"How about as my future bride?"
Kana choked and crouched down towards Amaranthus with a troubled expression. "Honey, you can't just say that."
"I know, I was just kidding." Amaranthus said with a small curve of his lips.
"Phew." She let out. After so, Kana embraced Amaranthus and mumbled, "I love you. Don't ever forget that, alright?"
"I won't." He paused. "I love you too."
Then, it was no longer a secret for Amaranthus. Because he now knows after taking notice of his mother's odd reaction towards Aika's appearance and name. Yet, he can't help but frown at the thought of his own son being his father too.
Notes:
When two stars meet, an explosion happens. AKA the explosion is Amaranthus finding out who his father is and Aika and Hikaru revealing their big secrets to eachother with Ai unaware of Hikaru's identity but Hikaru being full aware of Ai's identity due to her naivety sadly /jk
Hope you enjoyed, felt like making this xoxo
Chapter 7: Black hole - Longing
Summary:
Ruby's sobs echoed throughout the area while Aika just embraced her in a tight hug as a gesture of reassuring her that she's not alone in this, even if she doesn't know what it's about. Aika just stayed silent, unsure of what to do.
Then, Akane stepped inside and tapped Ruby's shoulder. "Ruby.. I know it's hard to take in. Believe me, we've been acquainted with eachother far longer than you both have and it hurts me so much to know that my best friend.." Akane gritted her teeth, hesitant to what she was about to say next.
Notes:
Oh no.
I didn't wanna do this.. but I felt like doing it :((
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
Aika walked inside her aunt Ruby's apartment and knelt down beside her. She stared at her aunt with a concerned expression and patted her back asking, "Auntie? Are you alright..?"
Aika looked confused as she witnessed both her mother and aunt grieve for someone. Best friend, her mother says. Then, it struck Aika.
It wasn't just a someone that died. Her mother's best friend and one of her aunt's friends, Mem-cho had died. Although she didn't know the reason for her death, she still grieved alongside them. She didn't see Mem-cho that much nor did Mem-cho come and visit them that frequently. Yet, her mother always talked about this girl that always supported her. Yes, they were fond of her. And she'd also witnessed from the heavens how supportive and encouraging Mem-cho can be. It saddens Aika to think that such an incredible person has now perished. It makes her stomach churn.
HEADLINES : FAMOUS STREAMER FOUND DEAD INSIDE HER
APARTMENT, SATURDAY NIGHT
Streamer 'MEM-CHO' was found on Saturday night by her neighbors inside her home unconscious with no pulse. One neighbor described the scene as 'horrific' and 'disturbing' with so much blood surrounding the said streamer's lifeless body. Authorities have started investigating on the case, as of this moment no lead has been found on whoever did such a horrible act but many suspect that she was targeted due to her massive popularity as a famous streamer on the internet while others speculate that a stalker or obsessed fan had been the one responsible for such heinous act just like what had happened to former idol, Ai Hoshino.

Tsk. Why should we care anyways? She's just another streamer that
happened to die. She'll end up forgotten and replaced like everyone
else before her.

Miyako narrowed her eyes as she continued to read all the comments about the article. She had read the comment from "MARKANGELO101" and agreed with his statement about internet celebrities but frown at the user's statement about Mem-cho. When she dug deeper and deeper.. she read comments that said the poor girl had deserved it and that she had it coming anyways. How could people be so heartless?
She could only scowl at those people and if she could, she would shout to their faces that internet personalities, idols, and those within the entertainment industry are also human. Behind a screen there's a person.
Her bottom lip quivered and tears started to form on the sides of her eyes. she closed her eyes and let the tears trim down her cheek. And to think she had started to warm up to the streamer, only then did she have to die.
It always ends up that way. For those in the entertainment industry. Even then, she started to be fond of Ai even if she seemed as if she wasn't. After that, she died. It was a tragedy for her as it had been for Aqua and Ruby. But, she knew that Aqua and Ruby felt even more distressed and traumatized when their mother died. Especially Aqua. The poor boy saw his own mother bleed to death infront of him while poor Ruby had to listen to her mother's dying words, not even getting a chance to hug her one last time. That's why Miyako took Ai's role as their mother, although she knew that she could never replace Ai— I mean, who could even replace her? Nonetheless, Miyako wanted to live Ai's life for her. And she knew that would be what Ai wanted too.
She slumped down on the chair that she was sitting at. She stared at her ceiling. She was slowly getting gray hairs and her medical condition is getting worser. She didn't want to bother Aqua and Ruby. The poor children had already been through enough, they deserve to live their lives peacefully now. But, she can only frown at the thought that Mem-cho's death will not only sadden Aqua and Ruby but also Akane. Infact, it might sadden her much more. But, she knows how sensitive Ruby is. Ruby is sure to be devastated by this.
That's when Miyako decided to call Ruby and Aqua to ask if they're alright. She picked up her phone and dialed Aqua's number. She was sure that he was with Ruby, he would never leave Ruby alone especially in a time like this.
Then, the phone rang until the ringing stopped and from the other line spoke Aqua's voice. "Miyako..?..." He muttered.
"Aqua.. are you guys alright over there? How's Ruby and Akane holding? How are you holding? Is Aika there with you guys? I can watch over her while you guys take your time to grieve for.. Mem-cho."
"...." The silence on the other end of the phone left Miyako panicking internally until Aqua finally spoke up, even if his voice sounded the same, Miyako could feel the devastation crept up within him. "Yeah.. that's a good idea. I'll drop her off. Thanks.. Miyako."
"You dont have to keep this all to yourself.. I know you're hurt too Aqua. Mem-cho was one of the people that supported and encouraged you, even if you guys weren't that close. You're not some expressionless person Aqua. You're so much more than that. Akane and Aika are examples of it." A small smile tugged her lips.
"Thank you. I really appreciate that. I'll tell Aika that she'll be staying at your place for awhile." He hung up the phone. She smiled fondly because she knew Aqua was secretly hiding a small yet warm smile from behind the phone.
She let out an exasperated sigh before preparing her apartment for her granddaughter, even she isn't really her blood. She can't help but be fond of the young girl. She looks so much like her father with her mother's eyes yet her mannerisms never fail to be like Ai's. As if she was Ai reborn all over again. But, that would be impossible.
She hummed before heading towards the kitchen to make something delicious for Aika. The death of Mem-cho still crossing her mind every now and then.
Aqua ran his hand through his hair. It was gonna be fine, he thought as he glanced towards where his sister and wife sat, grieving relentlessly for their friend. He wasn't as close to Mem-cho as they were but they both enjoyed eachother's company, even if he tries to deny it. Now that she's gone.. he doesn't know when his wife and sister will recover from this tragedy.
He and Ruby has already experienced the death of a loved one. They can't bear to experience it all over again.
He strolled to where Aika had been and informed her that she will be staying at her grandma Miyako's apartment for the night. She nodded and they both drove to Miyako's house without exchanging any words. He knew that Aika and Mem-cho weren't that close since Mem-cho didn't visit often and when she did, Aika would usually be asleep so, why does she seem devastated at Mem-cho's death? He supposed it must've been because of Akane constantly telling her stories about Mem-cho. Aika, ever the intelligent child that she is, understood her mother and aunt's pain.
When he pulled the brake and opened the car door, he lifted Aika and handed her to Miyako. Miyako soothed her back with her hand, gently stroking it.
"Stay safe, alright Aqua?" She said warmly at Aqua with a mix of concern.
Aqua pulled her to a warm and tight embrace, they both quickly parted to let Aika breath. Aqua kissed Miyako's cheek and Aika's forehead.
"Bye papa.."
"Bye, love."
Aqua walked back to his car and drove off as Miyako with Aika on her arms stared going inside when Aqua was no longer in their line of sight.
Aqua drove swiftly but he couldn't get off the stuff messing up his mind right now.
On Aika's first day at daycare when he went to pick her up, he was met with the familiar red hair of a certain Kana Arima on the way. It wasn't a mistake, he saw Kana with.. a child. Her hair had grown longer as time passed, yet her crimson red eyes still remain with the same striking features and warmth as as remembered. She handled herself like an exasperated mother as she knelt down towards the kid beside her, locking eyes with him as they exchanged words. He felt a warm sensation flood his entire body and his heart throbbing when he saw her smile warmly, like she used to.
It was a night they preferred not to talk or even think about. Yet, here he was. Still thinking of what happened 3 years ago.
His eyes flickered when he saw the kid's features. Blonde hair and blue eyes that were the same shade as his yet had the same charismatic warmth of Kana's. That kid was surely her son. He didn't know she was married nor did he know she had a son. And he was very sure that neither did Ruby and Akane. If they did, they would've told him immediately.
He set all his thoughts aside, choosing to ignore that sense of longing tugging his heart and went to pick up Aika immediately.
"I told you to scare her! Not kill her!" A voice yelled in anger.
"We tried to, but, she was gonna threaten us with a picture of our faces! We had to get rid of the evidence." Another tried to reason.
"You could have broke her phone instead of stepping in and killing her. Now, the authorities are on our tails!"
"It was Caley's idea in the first place! why are you blaming me?!"
"Because."
"Always on with your favorites, aren't you Genoa? I kind of miss Nino now. Atleast she wasn't playing favorites."
"Whatever." Genoa rolled her eyes and paused before continuing, "Nino was a coward. We can do so much better. Don't go pulling off something stupid again. We need to pull this off. Since you all ruined our chances of ever fulfilling plan A, let's move to plan B."
Genoa pulled off her hood revealing violet strands of hair and awfully familiar magenta eyes with a different shade, much darker.
"Ai Hoshino."
Aika drank her orange juice and called out for Miyako to read her a bedtime story. "Gramma??" She peeked near the corner of the kitchen where Miyako had said she would be in.
Aika gasped and her expression darkened as her eyes widened, her pupils shrinking as she retracted her steps slowly. She trembled at what she was seeing. Miyako was unconsciously laying on the kitchen floor.
Aika didn't know what to do. Her life seemed to be so perfect and then it all just came tolling downhill. So many things were happening at once. She was troubled.
Notes:
I'm not fond of this chapter since I wanted to connect this with the previous chapters :((
Anyways sorry guys, I had to kill off mem-cho for the plot to move ayleast a lil bit. Miyako is the best.
What happened to Nino? idk
Is Aqua inlove with Kana? maybe but we won't know until later.
Aqua's smart but he'd find it hard to come to the conclusion that Amarantbus is his son since although Amaranthus is like his father in more ways than one, he also has some Kana in him. Literally there are people with The same blonde hair as him and same blue eyes as him, he knows Kana used to like him so he might just come to the conclusion that Kana has a type yk.
I love Akane don't worry.
Chapter 8: Three words — a side story
Summary:
It took absolutely everything in my power to blurt out one singular word, "Papa."
They both looked at me with wide eyes before looking at one another and smiled widely. "She.. she said papa!" Aqua exclaimed loudly with the happiest look I've ever seen him make before.
"That, she did." Akane's muffled giggles rang over Aqua's shoulder as Aqua tightly embraced her in a fit of joy.
Notes:
I ran out of ideas on what to do for the continuation of the previous chapter. Well, more like I had too many ideas and i still have to organize them while currently relaxing since the school year finally ended and I can rest without schoolwork always chasing me 😭
So I decided to do this for today since I rewatched the first ep of the anime and cried AGAIN because of Ai's death and thought of this concept. ✨
Chapter Text
She knew her parents were hardworkers. But, she didn't expect that they would be this hardworking. To the point of canceling plans with your own daughter last minute.
Ai wasn't one to complain, though. Having a complete family was enough for her. She still has her daughter — er, aunt to talk and hang out with while her parents are away and she's not complaining one bit.
Being 13 months old is tiring especially if you're not actually 13 months old. You'll crawl, eat, drink, play, drool, and then sleep. She honestly can't wait to finally grow up and talk like a normal person because as much as she likes being pampered, she also wants to have the freedom of doing things on her own.
I stacked blocks on top of blocks, not noticing the drool dripping from my mouth as Ruby wiped it off for me with a giggle escaping her lips.
She picked me up and sat me down on her lap. "Aika~ your birthday's soon to come. Are you excited?" Ruby cooed at me with a wide smile.
I flaunted my arms around and babbled gleefully. She hummed in return and played with my hair serenely until we both heard the door open and she turned to the door before placing me on the couch saying, "Auntie will be back, okay?" She then walked towards the general direction of the door. Is it Aqua and Akane?; I pondered.
I yawned and felt my eyelids getting heavier by the second. Gosh, why do children feel the need to sleep every hour of the day?
I tried to hold my ground but fail spectacularly as I heard footsteps heading my way and dozed off in a deep slumber.
It was dark.
Then, I felt a chuckle from behind me. A man whose face is all too familiar for me to not run over towards him and wrap my arms around his body. Hikaru, I tried muttering but to no avail, no sound came out of my lips as I felt a heavy weight in my chest. I pulled away from the embrace and my pupils shrank as Hikaru's face turned darker and darker until it looked hurt and betrayed.
Hikaru didn't say a word before turning on his heel and walking away in slo-mo as I watched hopelessly. Then, small and soft voices spoke. "Mama." both voices began.
I felt a shiver run down my spine as I turned around and saw my children look at me with distaste. I trembled and tried reaching out to them and say sorry repeatedly but just like earlier, my voice broke and no sound escaped my lips.
Tears started to form in my eyes and trim down from my eyes to my cheeks. Please.. I begged internally. Listen to me, I pleaded more and more.
"My sweetest Aika." I opened my eyes and gasped when I saw Akane staring down at me with a concerned expression. "Goodness, were you having a nightmare, sweetie?" She said.
She then stroke my cheek with her thumb and smiled, "Don't worry, mama's here." She earnestly muttered that sang melodically like music to my ears. I didn't know how or when it happened but I heard a giggle escape my lips and my small, petite hands take hold of Akane's pinky finger.
She chuckled and stared upward where I took sight of my beautiful son, Aqua. Oh, he was so grown up now. He looks so handsome and he probably won't like it if I say this but, he's starting to look more like his father each passing day. To the point where I can't stop staring at him and smile widely.
Akane cradled me in her arms and hummed a sweet lullaby to me, which I absolutely adored as Aqua stared at me with soft eyes and a fond look.
I couldn't contempt my laughter and amusement and cheered alongside them, which they both adorned.
I exhaled and felt myself wanting to utter out 3 words that have always been overwhelming for me.
Loving someone is not as easy as everyone makes it to be. Atleast for me. I've always thought of myself deprived of ever loving anyone truly. Hikaru was an exception, but even to him I couldn't say those words without it feeling like a lie. Then, Aqua and Ruby came to my life. They were the most amazing gifts that was ever bestowed upon me. And it was with them that I finally said those words earnestly without it being another lie that I was forced to blurt out like to my fans, to everyone who's heard me sing and perform.
To me, everything was a lie until they both showed me otherwise. Love takes time, I knew that. That was probably why it was so hard for me to let go.
When I found out the truth, I didn't despise Hikaru, Ryosuke, or even Nino. I instead sympathized with them and only wished they would do better in their next life. I didn't despise them because I didn't want to. I just couldn't. It didn't feel right to do so.
I wanted to spread love. Genuine love. It feels good to know you showed and sang love to so thousands of people. So, why does it feel so much better hearing it from just 2 people that can't even compare to thousands of die-hard fans that follow you around tirelessly?
That's right. It's because they're your parents. Your family. And your family's love is so much more genuine than any love you can give to others or they give to you. That must be why I really want to say it back, "I love you." but although it sounded more of like 'awabyu' they probably got the message seeing as they're both looking at me so lovingly while softly muttering to my ears, "We love you too." as I slowly drifted off to sleep.
Chapter 9: Hiatus
Summary:
