in every dream

Summary:

How do you realize that you are dreaming? How do you know that everything around you is nothing more than a dream?
How do you know that when you wake up you won't continue dreaming?

Notes:

Flashbangs and frag grenades I'm done, I don't think anyone will correct me when I say that this is one of the most representative or even most iconic fics of this ship. Although it was not the first, it was the biggest and the one that laid the foundations for the stories of our two favorite crazy lesbians.
calchexxis. This is in your honor, you beautiful bastard, this is for all the tears and laughter you gave me.

Being chosen as champion by the League of Legends was not something that Luxanna crownguard expected

When the League of Legends was heralded as a solution to prevent more catastrophic wars in the world, Demacia scoffed at the idea. The mages almost devastated the world and now expect them to entrust their defense skills to such an absurd idea? That was the joke that was told at the nobles' balls for months

But when the great protector, Kayle, accepted the call from the League, everyone closed their mouths and hastened to obey. It was one thing to make fun of the ravings of an overly idealistic group of magicians, another for that group to have the backing of their patroness. Even more so when Gallium, the symbol of Demacia's victory, apparently came to life and enlisted in the name of his nation

Needless to say, Demacia was quick to get noticed after that

It also helped that they could more publicly humiliate Noxus without sending hundreds to their deaths. That probably helped, too. To see their ancestral enemy defeated by the best they had when among the champions of Noxus, the supposed best of an entire nation, half had no true loyalty to him and the other half did not trust each other even to stab each other cleanly was the new topic of conversation of the courts

It also helped that Demacia was one of the only nations that could say that it had the Divine on its side and that it supported its causes. The Freljord had Ornn, Anivia and Volibear, but Volibear was only there for fighting, Anivia for fun and Ornn for curiosity. Mount Targon had the most gods and aspects, but each represented different loyalties within the region. Shurima had his ascended, but they were there too for their own reasons. The only other nation that could boast of having a god or aspect that fought by its side for the good of its nation and not for personal reasons was, ironically, zaun

The fact that a nation-state created in literally a hole in the ground had divine support before him was something we kept rubbing Noxus in

That's why she was so surprised when the invitation to join heroes, villains, demons, and gods in battle came into her hands

This was not a decision to be taken lightly, not only because of what it represents, but because of the impact it would have on his own life and duties

His magic was little more than an awkward subject that was not mentioned in public forever courtesy of his position. To become a champion was to be seen not only by the royal court, but by his entire nation and the world. That's not to mention his position as an agent in the service of the radiants. Having the eyes of the planet on her was not something someone with a career as a spy wanted

In the end, after much debate among both his family and his superiors, it was decided that this was too good an opportunity to pass up. So, even with doubts in her heart and mind, she accepted her new role

If I had known what was going to happen, I would not have hesitated

Strange things began to happen to him as soon as he arrived at the central building of the league

His brother had explained to him that both the center building and the summoner's rift were in a bobbin dimension separate from the actual plane of Runeterra and that the different embassies built in each nation serve as points of connection between them. So, champions can come and go as they please

The center not only served as an administrative building and combat arena, it also had wings dedicated to housing the different champions if they wished to stay. The wings were separate and unique to each region, but there were also community wings to promote interaction between champions as a way to promote understanding

As soon as Lux entered the dining room center of the community wing with his brother and things were already getting weird

The instant he set foot in the room. Almost everyone in it who had stopped what they were doing and stared at them, more specifically, stared at lux

This in itself would be uncomfortable, but it was even more so because those who looked at her were some of the most esoteric members of the league

The demigod Ornn slowly lowered his beer mug to the table where he was sitting next to Braun and gragas who looked at him strangely as he stared at her with his mouth open

The demon Evelynn stopped sucking the air out of an Ionian ninja's lungs to give her a bewildered look

Tahm Kench noisily swallowed the food in his mouth before giving him what looked like a polite smile before tipping his hat slightly. Beside her, the fire spirit Brand, stared at her while her flames took on a more yellowish hue and a more erratic behavior

The aspect of war, Pantheon, paused midway through his argument with two Noxian champions to stand up and look at her with wide-eyed surprises

a vastaya with a teenage torso and the underside of a deer that she recognized as Lillia looked at her with the widest eyes Luxanna had ever seen with a few tears sliding from them

All these actions caught the attention of the other champions who looked at her as if they were waiting for her to explain what was happening

for her part, Luxanna could only give them a nervous smile

´What the hell just happened? ´

The strangeness did not stop from that day, if in fact, I would even say that they increased

He couldn't cross paths with any champion particularly attuned to magic or some divine connection without them staring at him. His soul almost came out of his body when he found the lamb and the wolf staring in the corridors without looking away from him until he turned a corner.

The fact that the various ghostly champions also stared at her when she encountered them also made her hair stand on end

The less she opens up about the fact that the nocturnal demon followed her for almost an hour, the better

Although she could return home in excess, the league officials suggested that she stay a few days to familiarize herself with the layout of the building and make connections with the other champions

It sounded like a sincere suggestion, but lux suspected that they only wanted her in the building so that they could study her for something. The various summoners and mages who worked for the league who stopped to look at it with their eyes and mouths wide open were a very good reason to believe this

Sitting at a table in the communal dining room, Luxanna snorted exhausted as she buried her head in his arms

"Long day?" A voice said in front of her

Weakly looking up, Lux could only growl affirmatively at Lady Vayne

"Do you still not know what has caused the apparent interest of all the gods and demons in you?" The demon hunter asked with a little concern in her voice

Letting out another growl, Lux sat up in her seat so she could get a better look at the other woman. "No." He said sharply. "Nobody wants to answer me every time I ask and when they do, they only give me cryptic and meaningless answers." The blonde magician replied angrily

He still remembers when one of the Noxian champions, Annie if he remembers correctly, asked her how she could make her fire look this pretty as well

The question had puzzled her so much that she couldn't answer anything before the girl ran away. All while her teddy bear stared at her with bright yellow eyes

"I recommend that you find the answer quickly. In my experience, having the attention of a demon or a god never ends well. And now you have the attention of practically everyone in this place? That's just bad news."

"Thank you for the vote of confidence." The blonde said dryly. "But no matter how hard I try, I can't find anyone who says anything to me directly and that's driving me crazy. I need someone to tell me something." He said as he ran a hand through his hair. She was about to say something else when her stomach growled making her wince in embarrassment. "I also need something to eat"

"Let me serve you, my lady." A voice was heard beside her before a plate covered by a silver dome was placed in front of her

Jumping in surprise, the two women looked to his side and were surprised to see the demon tahm kench standing next to them smiling kindly

Rising abruptly, Vayne took a fighting stand. Something unnecessary since violence was forbidden inside the league building outside the rift and this was enforced with powerful magical protections. But Vayne's hunter instincts mattered little to her, all they saw was a demonic spawn by her side and one could never consider herself safe in such circumstances

"Please excuse my recklessness my lady. He only wanted to serve him in his needs. Do not doubt for a moment that this humble servant has only the most august intentions towards your person." The demon said as he leaned around his waist with his arms outstretched towards lux

For her part, Luxanna only looked at him confused, even more so when he sat up and uncovered the plate of food. It was not a dish I had ever seen; it was a mixture of what looked like various mollusks, small crabs, snails and slugs which were stewed inside an orange sauce. It smelled quite spicy and lux wouldn't normally be attracted to the idea of eating slugs or snails, but for some reason the mere sight of such a dish moved something in his mind, as if he remembered something he didn't know he had forgotten

"If you'll excuse me, my lady, I'll leave you to enjoy your meal." The demon said. But before he turned around and left, lux stopped him

"Wait." Call. "Why are you behaving like this with me? We have never met and I doubt very much that someone like you has much respect for the nobility of a nation on the other side of the world where you reside. So, tell me, why do you treat me like this? Why does everyone treat me like they know something about me that I don't know?"

The pes demon only gave him an inscrutable look with those glowing yellow eyes before smiling at him with a mouth full of razor-like teeth. "I'm a hunger demon young lady. Unlike what mortals believe, my duty is not to spread hunger but to satiate it." Placing a hand on her chest, the demon bowed slightly without taking his eyes off her. "What greater honor for someone like me than to be the waiter who serves the most voracious of all appetites, or at least, their embers to be lit"

With that, he turned and left the room

"What the hell did he mean by that?" Luxanna wondered.

"He's talking about dreams." Another voice said behind her

Jumping again. Luxanna turned in time to see Vayne's fist stop inches from Lillia's face. who let out a terrified screech.

"For a demon girl." Vayne said. "Don't get close to us like that and even less after something like that of a while ago." The huntress slumped into her chair as she adjusted her glasses. "What do you mean by dreams?"

"I'm sorry." He apologized and then looked at Luxanna. "And what I mean is that he is attracted to Luxanna's dreams."

"What do you mean? Do my dreams have anything?" The blonde asked

"Yes. They are on fire"

The two Demacians could only look at the vastaya in bewilderment. "Are they on fire like, do you dream of fire or do you dream of burning?" The brunette asked

"No, they are on fire. Luxanna's dreams are literally burning." Said the guardian of dreams. "That's why you wake up in your dreams. Personally, I find it very beautiful how you can wake up when you dream and dream when you wake up. It's so paradoxical. He murmured as he looked at lux with his big eyes."

Luxanna was even more confused if it were possible. Waking up when dreaming? Dreaming of waking up? ¿! And what was it all about his dreams being on fire!? Was there something wrong with his dreams? Was he going to spontaneously immolate himself in his sleep?

"What the hell do you mean by that!?" I shout hysterically at the vastaya. Her mother would be embarrassed if she knew she lost her composure like that, but to hell with her, she wanted answers

"Hiii". Lillia squealed as she took a few steps back. "What, what I mean is that your dreams are Luxanna windows, windows to other realms, other worlds and you dream of them living them, but forgetting them when you wake up and they also dream of you. Normally this could not be possible, but the fire in your soul burns the boundaries of your dream world, turning it to ashes and causing them to blend into each other. It is fire that attracts demons and gods."

After giving a hasty explanation, the young guardian looked at the two women nervously before turning around and running off

For their part, the two Demacians could only look at each other with even more questions than answers

Absentmindedly, Luxanna put a fork, a fork full of mollusks in her mouth. He knew exactly how Jericho made them

Who the hell was Jericho?

Everything came to a climax a few weeks later

The conversation with Lillia had been eating away at her sanity ever since to the point where she didn't care who answered, she needed her questions answered

I ask the Ionian sorcerers, the Freljordian shamans, the Shuriman mages. To the ascended, to the aspects, to the ghosts, to the demons

He even made deals with the damned demon that perched on General Swain's shoulder just to get him to respond

They all said the same thing

Their dreams burned in the fires of madness

The most concrete answers were given, ironically, by Zoé the twilight aspect

She told him that, somewhere in the cosmos, in some already erased and forgotten reality, a variant of her had done something, she doesn't know what, but she linked her soul and that of all the variants of Luxanna near that reality to a multiversal entity. A dark and malevolent god only comparable to the void, only instead of seeking to corrupt he seeks to burn. And she was linked to him serving as a placeholder on the great map of the multiverse, and by extension, all the Luxanna connected to each other traversed the dream realm. Being able to see and experience glimpses of their lives and experiences being connected like a spider's web

Luxanna was terrified. I ask her what it meant and if she would be the cause of her world being invaded by some evil god. By let go, Zoé dismissed her concerns. He told her that she was nothing more than an ember, just a dot to mark that there was a Luxanna, it didn't give her access to her world. that the fires in his soul were to call another more important moth

The latter baffled the blonde more. When I asked her what she meant, she only replied with a

"I'm sorry. I'm not one to play other people's games."

He hasn't spoken to her since, and honestly, Luxanna had run out of patience with the whole subject. So, when she was called to participate in a battle, she responded with more enthusiasm than usual.

He needed to de-stress

The match was between Piltover and Zaun. A minor dispute that ended up escalating to majors. Honestly, at this point those two cities had the record for the most games since the founding of the league, any excuse to break their heads was valid for both parties. Piltover was missing a few champions at the time, so they called in their allies for support.

Everything was normal at first. Move down the center lane as Oriana's support clearing the minions for her to focus on the fight. Everything seemed normal

Until I'm no longer normal

They had eliminated mundo and were about to move forward when several objects flew out of the undergrowth and latched onto Orianna's metal body. They could not do anything but stand still because of the surprise event when things exported Orianna into a thousand pieces

It was thanks to his training that Lux was able to cover himself from fire and shrapnel in time. But that didn't matter when something collided with her and knocked her to the ground

Recovering from everything that had happened, Luxanna was ready to attack whatever was pressing her to the ground when she looked at her attacker's face

Two purple embers of madness stared back at him, and an angular face gave him a sharp smile

"Hello blonde." I whisper in a voice steeped in fun and mischief. "I found you"

That said. He put a hand to his face and held a grenade between their faces before it exploded

Have you ever realized that you have been dreaming?

It's like taking cold breath after a cellulous afternoon, an electric shock that shakes your body, a weight that lifts from your chest. You notice the little details you saw, but didn't understand. The little inconsistencies you didn't question, the oddities you thought were normal

Walking through the halls of the league, Luxanna looked around with the eyes of someone seeing the light for the first time. He looked at all those who passed by him and remembered them from memories that he did not remember, that he never had, but that were always there

How to remember a dream

Entering his room, Lux left his staff on the bracket placed on the wall and proceeded to remove his armor. She had finished taking off her undersuit and was left with her bra and panties when a voice spoke behind her

"Remind me to buy you sexier underwear. Because I won't even take those grandma's bloomers from you with my teeth"

"They're comfortable." Lux said without bothering to turn around

"What I have in mind are also and I promise you that they will look a thousand times better than that"

"Is what you have in mind something that is categorized as clothing in zaun or Piltover?" He asked as he put on his pajamas

"Is there a difference?"

"Yes. There is." He said before turning around and looking at the other woman lying on her side on her bed. “Two pieces of rope, half a palm of cloth and four medical band-aids would be classified as "clothes" below"

"I want you to know that body painting counts, too." Jinx said with a mischievous smile on her face. As if to prove lux right, the Zaunita was dressed almost in what she had described. Her top consisted of an even smaller and sparse bikini bra than she normally wears, only covering her nipples and her bottom only had a thong that consisted of two strings and less than half a palm of fabric. The mad bombardier's entire body was exposed, it would have been quite a suggestive sight if it had been any other woman in the league. But in Jinx, with a figure pink with malnutrition, with her long and fibrous limbs, skin too pale and crossed with countless scars from who knows what things and her ever-present manic gaze. She was far from being compared to other women in the league

It took all of Luxanna's willpower not to throw himself at her and devastate her all night

"You're drooling blonde." Jinx said with an even sharper smile

Blushing slightly, Luxanna ran the back of her hand over her mouth, only to find nothing. Looking questioningly at Jinx, she just shrugged. "The fact that you believed that if you did says a lot, you know?"

Snorting Luxanna walked to bed. Jinx moved away from where she was lying to make room for her. When Luxanna lay down next to her, Jinx took the blanket that was piled up next to her and covered them both

Lying on her side, lux stared at the face of the blue hair, who was also looking at her with a less sharp, soft smile you could say

"Sweet blonde dreams." He said with a softness so unknown but so familiar

"Will I see you in my dreams?"

"Always." He said, his eyes shining even brighter. "In every dream"

"In every dream"

That said, they both fell asleep

And they dreamed of waking up
