Chapter 1: lifetime achievement award

Chapter Text

Spider-Man can say he's woken up in a couple of strange places before, But waking in a nickelodeon slime tank if the tank was more watery, possibly deadly and burning his throat, eyes, and lungs would be a first!

He used to hope as a kid even for a moment they’d invite a scrawny eight year old Peter Parker to get slimed as he played one of those games that the contestants always failed at.

But now he feels sick of green already.

Even with his super strength getting himself out was a challenge the glass was thick he guessed he was in some kind of containment tube.

Which like sure keep your kidnapped vigilante contained but maybe constider the fucking part where he can’t breath underwater.

Now wasn’t the time he’d want to test if he had Diving-Bell Spider DNA in him.

If they wanted him dead he'd obviously been unconscious long enough to do so, So this was just plain annoying.

Maybe it was a bit on him for panicking and inhaling when he woke but what the hell was he supposed to do?

Act like this is a normal occurrence?

Yeah come back after he's missed another two weeks of therapy maybe then.

Oh hell he wasn't going to drown wasn't he?.

He doesn't like drowning. It almost happened one too many times he grimaces at the thought of one of his earlier fights with Fisk as he bashes his body against the glass caging him, having a fabric mask never made water and him get along.

He doesn't even realize he's broken through the glass before he's hitting the floor, A shrill alarm rang out which his super hearing loves because he's not sure if his eardrums popped and he's bleeding or it's the rush of that green water dripping out from his ears.

He couldn't see it was just a constant haze of green as all his senses twitched and screamed. He was pretty sure glass dug into his body but he could barely even feel it.

He didn't know what to do. He didn't feel in control, his body jerking forward as he suddenly hurled all the water he had accidentally inhaled. It hurt as much as it did going down.

He was scared.

His Spider-sense was all but null; it was a constant scream as he crawled, To where? He had no idea anything to get away from the green.

He didn't get that far when he just laid out flat on the cool floor wheezing and coughing.

There were blurry spots in his vision as the green ebbed away sapping any string he had left, holes in his memory, and his body too he guessed as his vision came back swirls of red and green mixing underneath him.

He'd just lay here for a while. The alarms died down luckily giving him more room to think he could hear his own ragged breaths after the ringing in his ears stopped.

He could push himself up but barely. The room was dark, his vision now more clear he guessed it was a lab of course more vials of the green on tables nearby.

Papers strewn about all over the floor that he could care less about he spotted clothes, His clothes as he forced himself to stand a quick but rash decision to tug out the glass chunks in his body.

He didn't have tweezers or time to bother with the smaller ones as they dug into his skin further at all his movement making his limp more pronounced he grabbed a lab coat nearby using it to try to get as much of the green liquid off him he could feeling it cling to his skin like burning wax.

Where is he?

A lab or research facility of some sort, How did he get here? His memory was a bit too fuzzy for his liking.

He shuffled over to his clothes hastily putting them on ignoring the pain, His healing factor would kick in soon and hopefully push out the glass still in him.

His body has healed from worse.

Since the alarm died off it was quiet to quiet for his liking, A little more looking around till he stumbled out of the room shivering he didn't hear anyone which was concerning.

He didn’t feel good, another wave of nausea overcoming him as he dry heaved gagging as he tried to keep himself upright, He hasn’t felt this bad since the spider bite.

God they didn’t fuck with that did they?

The last thing he needed was people shoving and poking him with new spider DNA his senses were bad enough but he at least had ear protection and his suit.

Fuck where was his suit?

He tried to calm himself so he’d take a breath for a moment gasping as he coughed his throat sore and mouth dry and sour grimacing as he got up finally he’d given up on trying to get dry he needed to get out.

He’d look for his suit later if he could, He didn’t have  much tech in there or anything to trace it back to him well besides the fact people definitely saw his face.

The pungent unfamiliar stench that assaulted his senses he did his best to limp out of the room glancing around into the barren hallway he walked down it looking for anything that may be of some resemblance.

Maybe some villain got the jump on him? It wasn’t likely but it could happen.

But that doesn’t explain the green water or the fact he was unconscious for that long, His enhanced metabolism burns through sedatives he must have hit his head pretty hard.

He can’t really remember how he ended up here; he vaguely remembers patrolling, talking with some people, and from there nothing .

There was a crash of glass breaking just down the hall in one of the rooms the door busted open laying in the middle of the hallway it seemed recent he could hear something shuffling around inside.

Should he really be concerned about some potential experiment gone rogue in his ill and injured state?.

The S in Spider-Man doesn’t just stand for spider, Stupid-Man is apparently another alias of his.

He cautiously inched closer to the room peering inside a large black canine loomed over a few bodies heads missing blood pooling around them it sniffed around letting out a seemingly annoyed growl before suddenly lifting up its head and snapping right over to Peter familiar white jagged eyes.

“Ve—”

Before he could even get his name out Venom of all people slammed into him the larger canine form easily took him down in his weakened state.

He had so many questions, it didn’t take him long to deduce it was Venom due to his signature kill style, The slight imperfections in the form of pure white eyes and too glossy like fur, And the fact that he was currently talking.

SPIDER!” Venom barked happily, his tail whipping back and forth causing Peter to grimace slightly at the volume but he couldn’t help but feel a bit more relaxed to see a familiar face.

“Venom! Wh-..What the hell are you doing here!-” Peter exclaimed if his day could get any weirder, If Venom was here Eddie had to be here somewhere.

He never really worked with the pair a lot but they knew each well enough, Having helped clean up Ed and Ve’s (somewhat) sorry state of their apartment, Crashing on their couch and babysitting their apartment and cats if their usual sitter wasn’t available.

But the fact that he’s here as a dog no less? Something was off, It was very rare Venom split from Eddie.

He’d only seen them split once and it was over a petty fight about what to cook for dinner (chicken nuggets vs chicken parm).

There was a clear winner that night, But they eventually got over it after six divorces over the span of a couple of minutes.

“Why..why are you a dog..?”

Science Freaks separated me from Eddie!

“H-..How?”

I— Do not remember fully.

“Neither do I..don’t you uh ah have that link thing with him? Or something we should get him and get out wherever the hell  this place is..”

Something is off about this place..I can’t clearly sense him ” Venom growled before heading down the hall Peter following in tow, Venom was still rather huge in this form he could pass for a normal- ish dog.

They made their way down the hall Venom busting open doors with ease. He wished he could help more but he wasn't at all a hundred percent okay.

And he was sure Venom could tell as well from the not subtle looks he gave alone with the occasional question on his change of appearance.

Those questions honestly startled him slightly, Surely he didn't look that different.

Okay so maybe that wasn't entirely true.

The last room before a larger seemingly more sturdy door at the end of the hallway which he presume closed due to the alarms earlier.

The room was a locker room, He quickly caught his reflection in the mirror, eyes widening in shock.

He looked different , tanner skin, shorter younger stature, along with the fact his hair had shifted from dark brown to ebony black, vibrant green eyes with blue flecks across them, and a stark bone white streak in his hair to top it all off.

He couldn’t tell if he looked younger due to the lessening of his usual eyebags or the lack of scars along his face.

He was a fucking damp scrawny skunk.

Peter let out an exasperated sigh as he took it all in.

“What the fuck

Why the hell did he look like this? What the hell happened.

This place just bought more questions than answers.

Wait, where is his suit?

He’d been so caught up on wanting to get out he didn’t even look for his suit, Not like he could have his body overwhelmed near burning and aching relentlessly when he came out of that vat of water.

Peter was at a loss, Venom was busy tearing up the locker room to let out some energy and Peter just let him; he was tired and confused and angry as hunger had started to gnaw at him.

What had they done to him?, I mean the changes weren’t horrific but they were changes his body had been changed he couldn’t and can’t remember a villain that would do such a thing? No clear rhyme or reason to change the body of your nemesis it just made no sense.

Was it to fuck with him somehow?Mess with his head? Had they hoped the green water would somehow make him lose his memories? He was supposed to be smart and quick yet he never felt so lost and sluggish as he felt over his new features his skin felt soft not yet littered in scars and scabs.

No gunshot scars or the aches that came with them, He didn’t even have his pretty sizable scar from his almost way too close call with Scorpion a few years back.

He felt light in a way he couldn’t describe or tell why yet.

His spider-sense had been unusually quiet, Certainly if Venom had people in his containment room there had to be others here if not scientists then guards there was no way they took Venom away without realizing how deadly he was.

Or were they really that foolish?, Had they not seen the literally eight foot man and alien combo?.

Too many questions started to make his head hurt.

Spider

Peter flinched, turning to Venom the room was wrecked per his mighty paws and or jaws, He was delicately holding a keycard he’d no doubt found in one of the lockers that were now bent and broken.

Gods he was still so god damn strong as a dog, He’d hope Venom didn’t overdo it and break the poor thing. He guessed the renewed energy of a possibly high energy dog plus Venom's own destructive and reckless at times mind made a good(?) pair.

Peter just quietly took the keycard from Venom’s jaws wiping it off, “I..Right this should help us through some of the doors..I don’t want any of those alarms going off again..” Peter hummed, taking a quick glance to the mirror again before Venom nudged him forward, his tail wagging slowly behind him.

-

It didn’t take them long to get out but when they did it was night and he was pretty sure the lab they came from was less than legal since they ended up coming out into a abandoned warehouse that was most definitely being used as a front, Venom quickly sniffed around tipping a few things over despite Peters best attempts for them keep quiet as they left into the alley nearby.

It was night as soon as he stepped foot outside is senses were assaulted by sounds, scents, and his Spidey-sense going off in every direction possible even down it nearly made him double over as he slumped against the brick wall behind him his body jolting at the feeling of rough rugged materiel digging into his back his clothes not offering much protection as he tried to dial down his senses enough a more non nauseating level.

His palms were sweaty as he tried to zone out the best he could for times like this he wished he had his suit he’d installed adequate ear protection and other measures into it so he wouldn’t be downing half a bottle of Tylenol in an attempt to ease his migraines and nausea.

Sometimes he wished he wasn’t as enhanced back to being the scrawny eight year old with asthma, the kid who would probably have a severe asthma attack at the sight of his older self doing such laborious acts and running farther and faster than he could have ever imagined he’d be able to.

It was a win lose situation, He never wanted something so bad yet wanted it gone even more at times.

Peter barely registered the large snout poking his curled up form nudging its way easily into his lap.

He pulled him a bit closer which wasn’t much Venom was still at least two or three times larger than him though he was being a bit generous.

He just held onto Venom running his hands through his fur taking a shaky breath as he just sat there till he drifted off.

Anyone unfortunate enough to get close would get a low bone chilling growl till they ran off as Venom pulled Peter closer till he was hidden entirely from view.
