Chapter 1: Soap gets ignored and just moves on
Chapter Text
Soap has been. Noticing something about his teammates.
Well, it’s not like they’re trying to hide it really.
His teammates have been, ignoring him. In a way. Starting their own conversations while he was in the middle of talking. Literally asking him to quiet down or to even go to another room.
Well if that's how they want to be. Then so be it, he doesn’t need them. All they are are teammates anyways. He didn’t choose them to be his team. They don’t need to be friends to work together.
Soap was a social butterfly. Not even 'was'. He still is! He’s the rookies and other officers favorite for a reason! It’s not like the 141 are the only friends he has anyways.
The moment he noticed the switch from his teammates, he started to socialize more with other officers, mostly to others his age. Rookies are usually just barely turned 18 year olds he can’t really relate to.
Being more social is what got him to meet someone new.
‘Course before, he thought he had a chance with Ghost. Given everything they both have been through, Soap thought there might’ve been at least a small chance. But the moment Ghost started giving him the cold shoulder, he decided to drop it. Despite how hurt he was for weeks after, he knew chasing after someone who doesn’t show him interest will only hurt him in the long run. So why chase when he can just go for someone else who isn't trying to hurt him.
Ever since he thought to do what was best for him, he's been happier. He's found friends who actually listen to him, speak, and even add to the conversation. Friends who actually enjoy his presence and don't ignore him.
There's been times on missions where Ghost or Gaz would try to talk with him during missions as a way to waste time. But he wouldn't try too hard on their conversations, he knows they're only speaking to him to waste time. He knows because they've admitted it to him during a mission. He was just some teammate of theirs.
No matter. He stopped caring months ago.
======
It's been quiet lately. It's been quiet for months really. They all want to say it's nice. But it felt like something was missing, what was missing, they all weren't sure.
Doesn't matter, it's peaceful enough. besides theres an important mission soon that involves the entire team so there wasn't time to worry about that missing feeling in everyones guts.
Everyone but Soap was waiting outside for the plane to be ready to board. Price was impassiontly tapping his foot on the ground watching the people ready the plane, Gaz and Ghost were silently standing a foot away from him, double checking all their things to make sure they didn't somehow forget anything, despite them not being the ones who pack their weapons and ractions.
"Has either of you seen Soap? He's usually here by now." Price asks while stilled turned to look at the planes.
Right. Soap.
Neither of them has seen him since their last mission last week. and even then it was really only Ghost who saw him properly since the mission only called for both of them.
They glanced at each other before turning back to Price.
"Can't say we have Cap." Gaz answers back.
"He'll be here eventually," Ghost adds, "same thing happened last week." He went back to zipping up his pack before giving the pack for it to be put on the plane.
A few seconds later Soap come out from the building, geared up and ready to go. He doesn't get closer to the team, walking past them and staying near the people who's working on the plane. The others watch as one of the workers finish up what they're doing and walk up to him, the other workers cheering and quietly shouting at them both.
Soap's been doing that a lot recently. Months ago he stopped

Chapter 2: Cannibalism as a metaphor for love my beloved
Summary:
Soap fantasizes about eating Ghost

Chapter Text
“Hey Soap,” Ghost calls from where he’s perched near the window.
“Hm?” Soap calls back. Pausing from inspecting his guns, looking up at Ghost.
“You’ve been talking about this cannibal love symbolism thing a lot these days,” he says casually, still looking out the window. Soap’s face flushed slightly. “Eh, I wouldn’t say a lot, more like, every once in a while maybe.” He shrugs.
Had he really mentioned it so much, he hasn’t meant to. While on leave, he watched this show about this cannibal and detective and started realizing how symbolic cannibalism can be for love. Whenever he could, he’d talk about it with Ghost, thinking the topic was interesting.
“I’ve been thinking about the things you’ve talked about.” Ghost responds. “Since it’s so symbolic ,” he turns to Soap, a glint of amusement in his eyes with a hint of something else Soap couldn’t quite figure out.
“If I were to die, how would you eat me?”
The question shocked Soap, is he being sincere? Or was this another one of his sick jokes.
“Are ya serious L.T, or are you just makin’ fun of me?” he tries to say with a normal tone of voice, accidentally whispering it instead.
“Try me sergeant” He responds.
Soap thought about it for a second, how can he describe this without sounding like a lunatic.
“Well L.T, I guess… I’ll..”
“Hold that thought Johnny.” Soap snapped his mouth closed at that.
“Before anything,” Soap watches as he stands and slowly stalks towards him while continuing, “how would you kill me first?”
This caught Soap off guard. Kill Ghost? He would never.
“Kill you? You sound crazier than me Simon, I wouldn’t kill you.” Ghost stops in front of him, looking down into his eyes waiting for him to continue. “I wouldn’t kill you Ghost, I’ll only do it if you’re killed in a different way. Maybe from a stray bullet, knife to the throat.”
He slowly raised his hands to his lieutenant’s waist, feeling up his thighs on the way. “Maybe not from torture, can’t bare seeing you in a state, much less eat what’s left.”
“No damaged meat then? Shame. I’ll make sure not to get tortured before my death, make sure your food is nice and clean before eating.” Ghost raised his right hand to Soap’s face, tracing the scar on his chin.
“Continue MacTavish” he says in a hushed tone.
He continues to rub up and down Simon’s thighs. Not in a sensual way, more to feel him. Checking if they’re really having this kind of messed up conversation. But maybe this is the norm for them, from all the fucked up things they’ve seen and said, this doesn’t seem as bad.
It could even be seen as romantic in a sick and twisted way. But what’s love if not that.
“Well, I’m not the best at cooking, much less meat. But for you I’m willing to learn. Maybe pick up some books from a store…”
Soap didn’t know how to properly explain it. To put it in words to show Ghost how much he meant to him was difficult. The whole cooking thing doesn’t fit his sick fantasy anyways.
He needs to eat Simon like a man starved. He’d eat him raw, while he’s still alive. Use his bare hands to rip apart skin from meat, meat from bones. Hope the blood would permanently dye his fingers red, maybe even hope the bone would cut open his hands so the blood would become a part of his.
Soap wants to bite chunks off of Ghost, hoping his flesh gets stuck between his teeth, still feeling the pieces there after it's over. Feel the blood dripping down his lips to his chest. Drag his tongue over his still beating heart. Feeling it drum as he does. He needs to Worship every part Simon lets him have. Thanking him as he does so. Hoping Simon knows how happy he is to be allowed this.
He’d want Simon to leave his own marks as well. A bite on the neck, bloody and deep, deep enough that it’ll leave scars. A way to remember the love they have for each other. He hopes they hold each other throughout, trying to pull each other impossibly closer. He wishes Simon grips him hard enough to leave bruises. Maybe even let him scratch up his skin, to feel the pain days later and remember what happened. He wants their blood to mix, to have parts of Ghost in him forever.
He needs Ghost to claim him. To take parts for himself to keep as well. His own blood dripping down Ghost’s pale white skin would be a sight. He’d open himself for the man. Rip out his own heart for him. Bleed until theres nothing left so Simon could take a sip.
Simon needs to know how sickly in love Johnny is for him. How John loves him like a rotten dog, someone who would always come back for him. He knows how sick this man is, and that no one else is a better match for him than Soap himself.
Maybe he would kill Ghost, but only if Simon gives him the same treatment
Soap pulls Ghost closer by his belt loops, looking up at him from under his lashes.
“I’m not so good at talking about my thoughts, L.T. I think it’d be better if you just imagined everything yourself.”
He moves his palms closer to said man’s crotch, hands so close to cupping him but not close enough. Purposely teasing the man to see what he’d do.
Ghost responds by grabbing his face with one hand and examining him. “What am I gonna do with you, mutt.”

Chapter Text
Ghost woke up feeling nauseous this morning. Noticing he woke up 30 minutes later than usual, he decided to stay in bed for another 30. Not like he had anything planned for today. The feeling of having to throw up was always unpleasant. He wanted to wait it out instead of suffering through it.
He's been feeling off these past few days, waking up queasy and squeamish. Most of the food that was being served didn’t sound appetizing and even if they did serve something he loves, sometimes he can’t get himself to eat it. Sometimes he couldn’t even enter the mess without feeling like throwing up from just how it smells in there. It doesn’t smell bad, it just, doesn’t smell pleasant to him, in a way. Doesn’t mean his appetite lessened, if anything he’s gotten hungrier. But not just for any type of food, he’s been craving some strange foods, and even stranger combinations. He hasn’t really tried to satisfy those cravings. Mostly because the food he’s wanted isn't served in the mess.
He’s even had times when he’d wake up and feel like throwing up. Sometimes he’d give himself some time and stay in bed until the feeling went away. or if he couldn’t, he’d have to hurry to his restroom before he dirties his bed and clothes. He hates those moments.
He hasn’t bothered to go to medical, even if it's been going on for a few weeks. It hasn’t taken him out of commission yet.
When he finally decided to get up, he felt bile rising up his throat and ran to his bathroom, emptying out his stomach in the toilet. After a bit, he had nothing else to get out, but stayed hovering over the toilet still heaving out , hoping for it to end. Maybe it is time to get to medical. It could be some sort of stomach bug, maybe. There should be some sort of medicine or something that could help flush it out.
On his way to medical, he hears a certain loudmouth Scott, calling for him to slow down. He slows down a bit. slow enough that Soap could easily keep up, but fast enough so it doesn't look like he’s waiting for him. He doesn’t want to seem too eager about Soap’s presence.
"Hey Ghost, didn't see ya at breakfast. You doing ok?"
Soap…
The man who somehow broke through all of Ghost’s walls and wrapped himself around Simon’s heart. He realized his feelings for the Scot a couple months after Hassan, Soap stuck by him after all those months and didn’t treat him like some big scary monster that haunts the barracks. He’s energetic and hyperactive, nothing like Ghost. his exact opposite but they still got along like fire on a log, Ghost being the log and Soap being the fire that quickly envelopes it.
“Simon? Ya with me? Do I have something on my face?” Soap asks, rubbing his face while looking up at Ghost.
Oh. Shit how long was he spaced out? “Sorry, I’m just… feeling a bit nauseous. I think I caught something, was on my way to medical before you got here.” “Ah, alrighty then, I’d join ya but it’s my turn to train the recruits. Wanted to have a quick chat before I had to head out. Maybe, after we’re both finished with our tasks for the day, we could, meet up in my room?” he smirks up at Ghost.
About half a month ago after a rough mission, when too much energy and adrenaline was still in both their systems and they needed to stay in a safe house for a few days, they found a way to get rid of the energy in a way both of them would enjoy. And after a bit it went from ‘getting rid of energy’ to ‘meet me in my room when you’re free’. There’s no feelings involved when it happens, it’s just two military men just trying to get their dicks wet after being pent up from constant missions.
But it hurts, that it's just that, and nothing more. It's selfish, only going along with it so he could be close to Johnny, but what else can he do. He didn’t want to scare away his Johnny in any way.
“I’ll meet you in about two hours Johnny” Soap beams at him, patting him and whispering “i'll see you then” before walking away.
The nauseous feeling went down when he got to medical but his chest started feeling sensitive, and not in a good way. Was it really a bug? Did he eat something bad recently? What sickness makes your chest sore?
At medical, the doctors looked at him warily, wondering what happened now to get him stuck in medical. He’s well known in the medical wing. Constantly throwing himself in danger to protect his team. Even if it’s in good heart, it leads him to getting stuck in medical one too many times.
He walked up to the lady at the front desk. She looked at him with a bored expression, scanning his body to see what he’s done to himself this time.
“What can I do for you today Lieutenant Riley?” She asked
“Well um , I think I caught something, I threw up earlier and I've been feeling nauseous. Is there some medicine I could take?” he asks nervously, he knew the doctors were tired of constantly seeing him. The lady called a doctor to check on him.
When the doctor, Dr. Clarke, got there, they looked him up and down before telling him “come with me to get you checked”. He put his arms up to stop them. “No no, i just need some medicine, i'll be ok, I’m pretty sure I’ve just gotten some bug.”
They stared at him, analyzing him. “I’ll see what I can find, stay here. Take a seat” Ghost sat down in the waiting room, his shirt rubbing at his chest was starting to get really uncomfortable and he was starting to get sleepy.
He noticed the Doctor come back perked up. “Here, take these every 6 hours, make sure you have food in your system before eating them” Making sure to take mental notes. “Thanks Doc” “If you start feeling worse come by for an actual checkup. Now please leave. I have patients to check on.”
He was just hoping they still had food in the canteen, he didn’t feel like eating the food bars in his room, they didn’t sound very appetizing at the moment.
—
Good news, they did have food. Bad news, he just couldn’t get himself to eat any. The smell of the food made him feel nauseous. None of it sounded, appetizing as well. He wanted something sweet, maybe some candy or some pastry. But he couldn’t go off base to get something. Not today at least, Price and Gaz are out so he can’t get permission to go out.
Actually, now that he thinks about it, Johnny might have something in his room. He’d always have a snack for him after they’ve had sex. With his mind set, he started heading towards his room. Thankfully, soap doesn’t lock his door so he won’t have to pick the lock. Once inside he heads towards the desk next to Soap’s bed, looking for something good to eat. The moment he finds a small pack of chocolate, he hears someone enter the room behind him. “Ah didnae expect ye to be here before me, ye must be eager.”
Shit, has two hours already passed?
“It started rainin’ and since Price isnae here to make me train ‘em in the rain, ah ended it early.” Ah, it hasn’t been two hours, Soap was just being lazy. “I could just send you out to finish with them, I am your superior. You could get in trouble” He turned to Soap, watching as he locked the door and started walking up to him. “You would never get your favorite sergeant in trouble, you love me too much,” Soap said with a smug look on his face. his heart fluttered from that, but then sunk when he remembered that that was just Soap teasing him.
As excited as he was to be with Soap, he still felt slightly nauseous and sleepy, he wouldn’t want to throw up on Soap by accident.
Soap started feeling his body up, but Ghost grabbed his wrists before he could get to his chest. Soap looked up at him with a confused face, pouting a bit.
“Sorry love,” shit he didn’t mean to say that name “i’m still feeling sick, i only came to get something to eat from your stash.” he held up the chocolates he was still hold. Soap looked at what he was holding, making an ‘oohh’ face and stepping back.
“Ah, alright” Soap patted his face before grabbing his face in his hands. “Take everything that you want, and take care of yerself. And if you need anything, text me, I’ll getcha whatever ya need”
Ghost felt like putty in Soap’s hands, he felt his heart racing and his face getting warmer. He could never get enough of Soap. He wishes he would stay with him while he recovered, just to have him there, but if whatever he was sick with was contagious, he didn’t want to get Soap sick. He nodded, feeling like if he spoke, he’d say something that’ll ruin the moment. Soap grins at him, pulling him down to peck where his lips would be under his mask. “Now go get some rest big guy, I’ll bring over your lunch if you don’t show up at the canteen, k?”
What would he do without Soap
“..ok..”
Soap pushed him out the door, said he’d walk him to his room, but he’s got a little problem that he can’t be seen walking around with.
“A little problem? Your problem isn’t that little to me” Ghost jokes, earning a light smack on the shoulder from Soap. Seeing him blush was worth it.
At his room, he was finally able to take the medicine and decided to get some sleep.
Taking his shirt off, he got comfortable under his sheets and quickly went to sleep, feeling content of being back in bed.
Until he hears a knock. He didn’t bother to answer back, hoping whoever it was would just leave him alone. He could feel the nausea and hoped he could get back to sleep.
“Simon? Its Soap, i got you lunch”
Ok maybe this time he’ll answer the door.
He checked the clock before opening the door, he’s been asleep for over 3 hours it seems. Felt like only a few minutes have passed.
Lazely putting on his mask and wrapping himself in his blanket, he went to open his door. He opened his door enough for Soap to enter, chuckling at Ghost wrapped up in his blanket.
“I tried getting yer favorites, they had pudding so I grabbed two for ya”
He was a godsend. “Thanks Johnny.” He took his mask off to eat.
While he was inspecting his food, he didn’t notice Soap staring at his face after he took the mask off. Soft look in his eyes.
Until the look turned to worry when Ghost gagged.
“Sorry sorry, I just – ugh” he says, covering his mouth with his hand. “Aw shit, Lt you ok?” He placed his hand on his back, rubbing his back, trying to sooth him.
“ ‘M good, ‘s jus the smell, makes me nauseous” he says. “The smell?” Soap turned to the food, he didn’t smell anything wrong with it. He grabbed it and placed it on his desk, far from Ghost.
“Can you just, pass the pudding please?”
“ ‘course L.T”
He passes both cups to Ghost who happily ate them without gagging. After he finished, he laid down on his bed, mostly laying on the blanket so his stomach was showing. Soap stared at him worryingly, hoping it’s nothing too serious. He looked him up and down but paused at his stomach, noticing a small bump. He reacted towards it, feeling ghost tense when he touched him. ”Johnny I'm not in the mood, I just want to get some sleep.” He said without opening his eyes. “Aye, I know tha. It’s just, yer stomachs a bit bloated.” Ghost groaned, so now his stomach is bloated, he’s getting worse as the days go by. “Maybe ye have a tapeworm.” Ghost propping up on his elbows to properly look at Soap. “Don’t say that to me.” Soap laughed, laying on top of Ghost, forcing Ghost to lay back down.
“Maybe a nap will do you good Simon, I’ll stay with ya if you’d like. Wake you up for dinner, aye?” Ghost felt like crying, how could he have someone like Soap around, someone who cared about him so much. His sickness doesn’t seem to be contagious, maybe Soap could stay with him tonight. “Yea alright, maybe they’ll have something better to eat by then. Soap beams at him, nestling into his chest to sleep. Ghost pushes him off, putting him to hug his side. “Don’t touch my nipples, they’re sensitive.” Soap laughs at him “they’re sensitive? Thought you weren’t in the mood Simon '' Ghost looks away, blushing. “Not like that you perv, they feel uncomfortable when touching something.” Soap chuckles. “Alrighty, I’ll make sure not to touch your poor nipples” But he still cuddles away from them to not bother Ghost. “Sleep tight l.t.” They both drift off not long after.
—
Soap woke up to Ghost pushing him away, watching in his sleepy hase as Ghost curled in on himself, hissing in pain.
That woke him up.
“Ghost?? Simon, are you ok??!” he asked while shaking him. Ghost groans, swatting off his hand. “My stomach hurts”
Soap sighed, he expected something worse. “It must be from how little food you ate today, c’mon big guy you’ve been through worse.”
“It doesn’t feel like a stomach ache, feels worse and it feels like its coming from a bit lower”
“Lower? worse? What, like some cramp?” he was confused, “you on your period l.t?” Ghost pushes him away. “I'm gonna kick you out MacTavish”
He laughs, grabbing his phone to check the time. “How about we get something from the canteen, dinner starts in a bit and if we’re one of the first there, we could get the best foods first.”
Ghost, still clutching his stomach, turns to Soap. “Hah- sure Johnny, just, let this pain go away first.” they both stay in bed a bit longer.
Luckily the pain went away after about 5 minutes. Ghost got up to get a shirt, grabbing a long sleeve to wear, “let me piss first and then let's head out. But let's get back quick, I can't stand wearing shirts right now.” Soap laughs at him.
—
“Check it out L.T, they still have more pudding, doesn’t seem like there's many left. I’ll pretend to want one too and give it to you if you give me your fruit cup.” Soap nudges Ghost’s shoulder. “I won’t tell if you won’t Johnny '' he nudges back. They both quietly laugh, heading towards the food.
When they got their food, they sat at an empty table far from the people who started to trickle in. They exchanged food and thankfully Ghost wasn’t feeling nauseous from the food they served. Gaz joined them a bit later, just coming back from a mission and feeling famished. He and Soap do most of the talking at the table, Ghost either chiming in from time to time or only talking when something was directed to him. Ghost had to piss so he went to the bathroom while Soap and Gaz kept talking.
The conversation ended up on Soap telling Gaz Ghost hasn’t been feeling well. “Is he doing ok?” Gaz asked, worried. “Aye, it's just some bug he caught from eating some bad food. But ye know the Ghost, he’ll be feeling better in no time.” He grabbed some fruit from the fruit cup. “Actually, knowing Ghost, I don’t think he even went to get checked, so I’m not 100% sure it's a bug. But he’s been throwing up and feeling nauseous, and before we got here, he had some pretty bad cramps.” “Cramps? I’ve never heard of a bug giving someone cramps before. I don’t think it’s a bug, Soap. What else is wrong with him?” Gaz asked, looking more worried.
“Um, well when I got him his lunch, he gagged because of the smell of the food. He said the smell made him nauseous. And now that I think of it, this is his second time having to pee in one hour… you dont think somethings wrong with his bladder? And his stomach was a bit bloated” He turned to Gaz for an answer, only to see Gaz with a horrified expression.
He placed both his hands on Soap’s shoulders, looking straight into his eyes before asking “Soap, what else has he been experiencing?” Soap was confused from where the conversation was heading. “Ah- well, don’t tell him ah told you but he’s mentioned that his nipples feel sensitive, and not in a good way? He’s also been throwing up a lot lately from what he’s told me.”
Gaz somehow looked more horrified. Gaz noticed Ghost coming back and quickly added, “you should totally take him to medical and tell the doctor's everything you just told me.” Ghost sat back down confused from the mood seeming tense.
Gaz turned to Ghost with an obvious forced smile. “Ghost! Hey, I heard you’re not feeling well! I think you should definitely go to medical! It's probably something serious. Actually I haven’t done my debrief with Price! I’ll see you guys later!” Gaz quickly took his tray back and left. “What did you guys talk about while I was pissing?” Ghost turned to Soap, confused.
“I just told him you were sick and the symptoms you had, and he seemed worried. I think we should get you to medical.” Ghost sighed, he couldn’t avoid getting a check up for long.
“Let's eat and then get some sleep, big guy. In the morning I’m taking you to medical.” Grinning at Ghost before getting up “I’ll come get you in the morning, g’night Ghost.” As he was getting up to leave, Ghost grabbed his wrist, getting up with him and leading him out of the canteen. He took him to his room and sat Soap on his bed.
“Stay? Just for tonight. Please?” Soap looks surprised by this, but quickly smiles at Ghost. “Of course L.t, anything you need.”
They crawled into bed together, both moving around to get comfortable. He wrapped an arm around Ghost’s middle, Ghost wrapping his arms around Soap’s back, pulling him closer and burying his face into his hair.
—
In the morning, Ghost woke up to feeling nauseous again, burying his face closer to Soap, wanting to wait it out. But the feeling was stronger today. He quickly got up, waking up Soap on the way, and running to his bathroom to throw up.
He felt horrible, felt like if he moved he’d throw up more. After a couple minutes he felt a hand rest on his back, rubbing up and down.
“You doing awright Simon?” He was not doing alright. “No, I feel like ‘m dyin” He says with his face resting on the seat. “We should get you to medical, ye alright to stand?” He gets up to get some towels for Ghost. “Gimme a bit more time”
Soap placed the towels next to him, rubbing his back while Ghost recovered.
—
On their way to medical, Soap filled the silence with stories about the recruits he trained yesterday. If he could, Ghost would listen to him all the time.
…Ghost has been thinking too much about Soap these past days, he knows he loves Soap, but he’s never been so emotional about him before. It’s probably nothing.
When they got to medical, they told the receptionist what they were here for and were sent to a room to wait for the doctor. The doctor, Dr. Clarke again, came to check on Ghost, and didn’t question Soap being there.
“Lieutenant, I’d say it's good to see you but you being here means it got worse.” “Naw, he’s just here cause I dragged him to actually get checked” They both looked at Ghost, who was turned away from both of them. “Right”
During the check up, Clarke notices most of his vitals aren’t normal. Most of them are working faster than usual.
“Hm, Ghost, what are some of the symptoms that you’re experiencing? Aside from feeling nauseous and throwing up?”
“Well, I've been more tired these past days, some smells make me gag, I mostly get sick when I wake up and it goes away as the day goes, my chest has also been uncomfortable a lot, wearing shirts are starting to become a hassle.” “And you cramped the other day.” Soap exclaimed.
Dr. Clarke wrote everything down. He could have all of those symptoms for one reason. But as far as the doctors knew, this couldn’t be it.
“Excuse me for a second Lieutenant, I have to get something checked, I won’t take long.” Dr. Clarke stepped out of the room, leaving Soap and Ghost alone.
“What do you mean it could be L.T?” Soap jumped onto the bed next to Ghost, “I’m still thinking it’s a tapeworm.”
“I will push you off this bed Sergeant.” Soap laughed.
“Really i’m just hopin it’s nothing too serious, wouldn’t want something happening to my favorite Lieutenant.”
Ghost raises an eyebrow towards him, ignoring the butterflies that were let out in his stomach “You know other Lieutenants Sergeant? ” He watched Soap run his neck while a blush crawled from his face down to his neck.
“Why? Ye jealous?” he smiled his lopsided smile, lightly dragging his fingers up and down Ghost’s arm.
Ghost grabbed his hand “Calm yourself MacTavish. We’re in public.”
He chuckles, “Sure L.T”
The doctor came back a few minutes later, confusion written on their face.
“Lieutenant Riley, these tests and what you’ve told me seem unusual. You see, from what we could get, it appears you could be… pregnant?
What?
“But it could still be something else entirely, i will have to re-check your vitals, get some blood samples, and we will have to do an ultrasound this time.”
Ghost didn’t know what to think about this information.
Pregnant? That's not possible, given that he’s male, born as raised as one. With a penis and everything.
The doctor must’ve checked wrong, it was totally something else. He was starting to hope it really was just a tapeworm.
After having his vitals taken again, Ghost was taken to another room where he was checked for a baby. And to his horror, they found something. A baby, no bigger than his palm, growing inside him.
The doctor started talking about how this couldn’t be possible, but Ghost wasn’t listening
This wasn’t possible. This couldn't be possible. No this has to be some kind of joke, someone must’ve set this up. This has to be a prank, some sick joke someone’s pulled.
His ears were ringing, he couldn’t hear the doctor and Soap, what were they saying? Are they talking to him?
“-st, Gh-t. C- me?” Johnny?
He feels something on his arms, something holding him he thinks, he reaches towards his stomach, clenching his shirt.
“Simon!” Johnny?
He looks up to see blue looking at him.
“Ghost, are ye ok? Are ye back with us?” “Johnny…”
Soap visibly deflates, happy Ghost is back with him.
“Are ye feeling ok?” Ghost kept looking at him, anxious and scared.
“... This can’t be real, can it?”
Soap turned to look at the Doctor. A silent conversation happened between them.
“Lieutenant, if you’d like, I could redo the ultrasound, maybe I mistaked one of your organs as a baby.” The doctor knew they didn’t make a mistake. They checked to make sure Ghost was a cisgender male when they left the room before coming up with the conclusion that Ghost might be pregnant. But they checked one more time. Just to be sure.
And there it was, a baby growing inside of him. Somehow.
The doctor was confused. They’re not sure what to do in this situation. So they instead took notes of the baby’s health.
“Well, if you’re interested. The baby seems healthy, you already have a bump, and they look about 7 weeks old. Do you know who the,.. Father is Lieutenant?”
7 weeks old? It hasn’t even been a month since he and Johnny started hooking up and he hasn’t been with anyone else in years, decades even. He turned towards Soap, who looked devastated, staring at the floor and avoiding his eyes.
“The only person I've been with in a while is… Soap, and, we ah, we only started, seeing each other about, um, three weeks ago. I haven't been with anyone in years.”
“Well, we could always take a paternity test, see who the father could be, the results could take up to 4 days minimum. Would you be interested?”

Chapter Text
Ghost and Soap have known each other for years. Years before the 141, years before Roba.
They enlisted around the same time. Simon who was 18 and John who tried enlisting when he was 16. Simon remembers seeing him for the first time, bright eyed and baby faced. remembered when he was caught for trying to enlist at 16, remembered him trying again and again until he disappeared one day. Two years later, an older John MacTavish came to enlist. Simon remembers seeing him but not being able to remember from where until months later when he heard John telling other recruits what he tried doing years ago. So that’s where he recognizes him, he was that kid. He lost his baby face, his features were sharper and he was taller. his accent damper from what he remembers.
—
John heard about Simon from peers, how he was one of the bestest soldiers even after only being in the army for 2 years. He rose to the top and became one of the most respected soldiers. There was already talk of him getting a promotion. saying he was excited about working with Simon was an understatement.
Missions together were great. At least that's what John thought. Simon took on a leadership role during tight situations. There have been multiple times when rookies have frozen up during battle and Simon would snap them out of it and get them to safety. Even after missions, he would check up on everyone, making sure the injured were treated.
He’s gotten the respect of many soldiers, no wonder he’s getting promoted soon.
After countless missions, superiors noticed how well they worked together. they were paired up on many more missions, and the more they got paired together, the closer they got. After missions they would hang together until lights out, purposely finding each other after missions they both weren’t assigned to. eating together in the mess and trading food with each other.
After a while they started to go on leave together, staying at each other's family's house from time to time until they both decided to rent an apartment together.
Buying furniture was trickier than expected, too many options to choose from. In the end they bought a small loveseat, an extra one seat chair, a few shelves and two twin size beds for their rooms.
On base they couldn't hang out much alone. With how the base is, they’re almost never alone. They’ll be lucky enough to have a few minutes of alone time on base. But on leave, they bask in whatever alone time they have
