Chapter Text
"So, how long did it even take to get this place built?" Daniel asks Vlad, as they pull up to a small mansion that had just barely finished being built, with the movers just finishing up and starting to head out.
"Anything can be done, Daniel, with the right amount of money." Vlad responds.
"Yeah, well, I thought the whole purpose of moving was to lay low, or whatever." Daniel says as he steps out of the limo. "Because, you know, there's still the very real possibility of my former parents trying to find me. You know how persistent they can be."
Vlad steps out beside him. "Whatever do you mean, Daniel? This is subtle. And I've taken every security measure that I possibly could. This place is more secure then my former mansion. This mansion, and the grounds around it, and even the cars and limos that I'm using are all much smaller than what I usually use. Not to mention how few staff that I had to hire, in order to keep things as simple as possible."
Daniel just rolls his eyes at that. "Rich people problems."
"Yes, well, you are now one of those rich people, Daniel. You might as well get used to it, little badger."
"Right, I forget about that, sometimes."
Vlad then starts to head inside. "Come along now, and we'll tour the grounds, together." Daniel follows after Vlad.
It's already been about a week since they've moved to the town of Tremorton, and Danny likes to think that he's been adjusting pretty well. He still hasn't gone out to explore the town, but with a private tutor, and all the staff that he'd ever need, he really doesn't need to. He's totally not trying to hide his anxiety over a new town, with new people to hate him. Totally not. He's cool. He hasn't even called Sam or Tucker since he's arrived. He knows he should. He owes them at least that much, to let them know that he's arrived safely. Jazz too. She hates being left out of the loop, especially after not being told about that incident with that ecto-sealer weapon thingy that their parents had made, or whatever they ended up naming it, the weapon made specifically for him mind you, until after everything was dealt with. Can't entirely blame Danny for that, though. Jazz had gone off to college, and Danny didn't want to pull her back into their parents crazy ghost antics. Even if said ghost was him.
Oh well. He'll shoot them all a quick text on their group chat, later. That should be good, right?
Well, either way, it's still early morning, so he's going to go downstairs and see if he can influence the chef to make something simple, for once. He's tired of all these overly complicated fancy rich people meals. Maybe just some simple waffles for once, or something, is that too much to ask for?
Though when he does get downstairs, he's stopped by Vlad. Of course he's up. When isn't he.
"Ah, Daniel. Good morning. I don't believe I've seen you up this early before. To what do we owe the pleasure?"
"I, uh... Wanted to make a request for breakfast." Danny admits.
"Of course. I do want to speak with you, though that can wait until after we eat."
"Okay." Danny just heads into the kitchen.
After they've eaten, Vlad confronts Danny. "So, Daniel, I've been building a new lab."
"Right, so we're gonna be starting training again, sometime soon, then, right?" Danny asks.
"Well, yes, but that's not why I mentioned that. I want you to help me as I start construction on a new ghost portal, Daniel." Vlad admits.
"What?" Danny just seems baffled. "You... You've seen my grades, right?"
"Yes, but you are a brilliant mind. When you are given the time and proper environment to truly flourish." Vlad explains gently to Danny.
"You... You really think so?"
"Of course I do, Daniel." Vlad gives him a soft smile.
"Well... If you think I can actually be of any use to you."
"Oh, by the way, I've signed you up for the public highschool."
"What? Why?"
"Because, Daniel, as much as I'd like you to continue with your private tutor, you clearly need to get out, and socialize. Even I can tell that, Daniel. I believe that it will be good for you."
"I... I guess..."
"You have already been enrolled, and will begin next week. Since you will be starting in the middle of the school year, you will continue on with your tutor for a while, until you are completely caught up."
"Okay..."
"And, we can work in the lab after your lessons are over, if you're up for it of course."
"Alright." At least Danny can finally be a normal kid, for once. Or, well, he could try, anyways. Then again, with his luck, * anything * could happen.
Danny, riding in the limo beside Vlad, seems hesitant to leave when it soon stops in front of the school, especially when all eyes end up on the limo as the other kids were heading inside. Danny just sinks back into his seat. "...Do I have to go? Everyone's staring..." Danny complains.
"Daniel. Education is important."
After a moment, Danny relents. "Fine..." Hoisting his backpack up over one shoulder he turns to get out, though hesitates with his hand on the door handle. He soon feels a hand on his other shoulder, and he looks back at Vlad who holds a soft gaze.
"You'll be just fine, Daniel. If you can stand up to ghosts terrorizing your hometown, you can stand up to some students." Vlad tries to encourage Danny.
"Yeah, well, ghosts are straight forwards, them I can deal with. Other kids, on the other hand, are unpredictable." Danny grumbles out.
Vlad just chuckles at that. "I suppose you've got a point. How about this. If you end up getting overwhelmed, just go to the nurse, and have them clear you to leave early, then I'll come and get you. Okay?"
After a moment, Danny just nods. "Okay."
"Good. Now. The bell is about to ring, badger. Hop to it."
"Right. And thanks."
"Of course."
Danny then opens the door to the limo, stepping out. And though some of the crowd had grown tired of waiting and had gone inside already, others had stayed, curious. Some seem to be slightly disappointed when they see him, others wonder who he is. He just decides to ignore all that, as he also heads inside, though he heads for the office.
Once in the main office, Danny heads up to the secretary, who merely glances up at him. "Yes?"
"Hi. I, um, I was told to come here for my schedule?" Danny asks, nervously. He's always hated going to new schools.
"Name?"
"Danny. This is supposed to be my first day, actually, I just transferred here."
"Full name, please." The secretary remarks snarkily.
"Oh, right, sorry. Danny Fen-" Danny stops himself, shaking his head slightly, "Masters. It's Daniel Masters, sorry..." He's still not used to using Vlad's last name.
"Like, the Masters?" She asks, incredulously.
When Danny just nods, she quickly looks up his name in the computer, printing his schedule, along with any other information he may need, handing it over. "I'm sorry that it took so long." She sounds pleasant all of a sudden.
Guess that's the power of a name... Danny just subtly rolls his eyes at that.
"If you wouldn't mind waiting for just a moment, someone will be out shortly to give you a personal tour. You will unfortunately miss first period, but you will be excused for that, too." The secretary explains, painfully cheerily, and Danny just nods at that.
Jenny races to school, but she's already missed probably most of first period, at this point. Because of course she'd be late. Again. Stupid criminals can never take even a short break, can they? When she lands, she runs inside, though quickly comes to a stop as she comes upon Razinski along with who she assumes to be another student. She's never seen him before though, he must be new. Thankfully though, Razinski hasn't seemed to notice her yet, his attention almost completely on the new student, a bit strange for him, honesty. Oh, but the new kid definitely has noticed her.
To her surprise though, the new kid steps in between her and Razinski, and after a bit more of an exchange between the two, they part ways, with Razinski thankfully heading off in the opposite direction, and the new kid heading over towards her after a moment. Why does she feel so flustered? She doesn't even know him. But when he gets up to her, she finally gets a really good look at him. He's no Don or Silver Shell in appearance, but hopefully he's better personality wise. And why does her vision seem to be getting slightly fuzzier around the edges as he gets closer? Is she malfunctioning? Or is it... something else? She's soon brought out of her thoughts as the new kid speaks.
"Hey. You go here, right?" He asks her nonchalantly.
She just nods. "Yeah. But why'd you help me?"
"You looked like you needed a hand. And I've had my fair share of tardy's, which usually result in detentions. Which kinda suck, since they also tend to interfere with my, uh, duties after school. Oh, I'm Danny, by the way." The new kid, Danny, holds his hand out for her to shake.
"Jenny." She shakes his hand, though for an admittedly embarrassingly long time, and when she does take her hand away, she just chuckles nervously. "Sorry, I didn't hurt your hand, did I? I've got quite a grip."
"Nah, you're fine. I've actually been told the same thing. Anyways, the bell is about to ring, and I'm gonna get going before those two, I think they're cousins? Before they arrive."
"The Crust Cousins? I understand that, but why? They're the most popular girls in school."
"Yeah, but I've barely been here an hour, and they're already obsessed with me. For some reason. It's actually kinda annoying."
"I hear that. They're obsessed with tormenting me." The bell soon rings.
"Oh, there it is. Sorry, gotta bounce. Talk to you later, Jen." And Danny practically bolts outta there.
Jenny soon finds out why when she hears Brit and Tiff behind her.
"Jenny! What did you say to Daniel to make him run away like that?" Brit yelled out to her.
So she turns to face them. "Brit, Tiff. To what do I owe the pleasure?" Jenny says plainly.
"You scared him off with all your robot freakiness, you freak!" Tiff complained.
"You should've stayed away for the whole day, like you did for first period. Then we'd have had him all to ourselves." Brit continued on.
"Yeah. Those like us shouldn't have to be forced to interact with the likes of robo freaks like you." Tiff again.
Jenny just rolls her eyes at them, used to their insults and antics by now, and deciding to just ignore them, she walks away. Which just seems to annoy them even further as they call out more insults to her, as she leaves.
The lunch period finally arrives, and Jenny sits at her usual table with her friends. "Hey guys."
"Hey Jenny. You missed first period, then, huh? Was the fight cool?" Brad asks.
"Not really, just the same old stuff."
"So, how much trouble did you get into this time?"
"None, actually. Yet, anyways. When I was coming in through the main doors, the new kid was there with Razinski, and he moved into the way to actually block Razinski's view of me."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Oh, so have you guys met Danny yet?" She asks, curious as to their thoughts on him.
"No one's really even met the guy yet, except for the Crust Cousins, at least." Brad explains.
"Yeah, he's been avoiding pretty much everyone, except for those two." Sheldon adds.
"Typical snobby rich kid, if you ask me." Brad states, and Sheldon nods in agreement.
"What are you talking about? He's been running away from those two all morning. He can't get away from them, they're practically obsessed with him. Not really sure why, though." Jenny admits.
Brad and Sheldon exchange quick glances before Brad asks. "You don't even know who he is, do you?"
Jenny's just confused now. "What?"
Sheldon pipes up this time. "Yeah, Jenny. His dad is, like, one of the richest and most influencial people in the world."
She just seems dumbfounded now. "Seriously? Well, from what little conversation I've had with him earlier, he seems pretty nice. Are you sure he's a rich kid?"
"Yeah. The Crust Cousins won't shut up about him."
Jenny soon spots Danny from across the room, and thankfully, without the Crust Cousins this time. He soon spots her as well, and she waves at him, hoping to get him to sit with them. She really has a lot of questions for him, now. And he actually starts coming over! Why does this excite her so much? Oh, and her vision is doing that weird blurry thing around the edges of her vision, again. But it only seems to worsen as Danny sits across from her. She'll have to ask her mom about that strange glitch, later.
"Hey, Jenny. Sorry about bolting, before. I haven't really been able to get much of a moment to myself, since I've stepped foot in the school." Danny admits, a bit sheepishly.
"It's fine. But, is what they're saying about you true?" Jenny asks him.
Danny just sighs at that. "Yeah... I was really hoping to make at least one friend, without them simply trying to use me for Vlad's money and position, but I guess that was just wishful thinking..."
"No, no! That's not why I'm asking, honest!" Jenny quickly corrects. "I was just trying to figure out why the Crust Cousins would be so clingy with you, and now it makes so much more sense."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Though, I'm actually kinda surprised that you'd even wanna be friends with someone like me." Jenny admits.
"You kidding? I've known people like the Crust Cousins and that Don guy back at my old school. All insufferable jerks, if you ask me. But I guess this new reputation is at least good for something."
"Really? What's that?"
"At least I'm not being constantly stuffed into lockers, by the dumb jocks." Danny admits as he just chuckles slightly.
"Really?" Sheldon finally pipes up. "Who would even dare to bully * you * ?"
"Yeah. You're, like, really influencial. And you haven't even been here for a day." Brad adds.
"I haven't always been this lucky, believe it or not." Danny comments.
"Oh, yeah, sure. Because going from, what, homeschooling, in your dad's huge mansion, to public schooling is * so * tough." Why does Sheldon sound so bitter? She hasn't really looked over much to see the boy's reaction to Danny, most of her attention on Danny himself, but he hasn't really done anything to warrant that sort of reaction. Has he? "I'd kill to be in your position." Sheldon just crosses his arms bitterly with a glare at Danny.
Though this just seems to flip something in Danny. And now the fuzzy bits of her vision are oddly tinted with a sickly green as Danny frustratedly slams his hands down on the table as he stands up. "Not that you need to know, but my parents were abusive. I still have scars from their experiments. I was only recently able to get away when Vlad, my godfather, had finally managed to find out, and helped me out, legally. So yeah, I'm lucky. Now. But I wasn't always. And I pray that not even my most hated enemy has to go through what I did. Because no one deserves that." And then Danny just storms off.
"Sheldon! What was that for?" Jenny yells at him, not caring about all the eyes that are already on them.
Though Sheldon at least has the decency to finally look ashamed. "Sorry..."
"I'm not the one that you need to apologize to." Jenny then gets up and goes after Danny, herself.
"Damn, dude." Brad comments.
"Oh shut up, you were thinking the exact same thing!"
"Well, sure, but that's just not something that you bring up, especially on the guy's first day."
"Whatever..." Sheldon sighs. "I blew it, didn't I?"
"Big time." Brad just nods.
Danny had gone invisible and intangible when he left the cafeteria, flying up onto the roof of the school, wanting to be alone. He just sits there on the roof, still invisible, hugging his knees to his chest, head down. I shouldn't have had an outburst like that, and on my first day, too... It'd be easier for anyone to figure out who I used to be, now...
Though as he's sulking, he hears small jets, a heavy landing, then, "Danny?" From a robotic, but feminine, voice. And this startles him out of his invisibility as he looks up, stunned.
"Uh... How... How'd you find me...?"
"You just sorta seemed to disappear after you left, so I activated my thermal vision, hoping to find you easier. But... Are you okay? That's not a normal temperature for humans, right? You look practically freezing on my thermals."
"Oh, that. It's, uh... a medical condition?" He's a bit more relieved at that. She hadn't just seen him invisible. That's good.
"Well, if you're okay with it. Anyways, how'd you get up here so fast?" Jenny asks curiously.
"I, um, I've... got my ways. It's not really important right now..." Danny dodges the question, not at all skillfully.
"If you say so." Jenny just accepts it to his relief, then heads over and sits next to him. "So, are you alright? And I'm sorry about Sheldon, I don't know what could've possibly come over him. He's not usually like that."
"It's fine... And... I don't know... I didn't even wanna come here in the first place... Even just thoughts of another school environment, and all the students... were giving me anxiety... At least at my old school, I knew how to handle everyone... But here..." He's not even paying her any attention anymore, as his thoughts continue to spiral, him mumbling slightly.
He doesn't even know how long has passed, when he eventually feels a hand on his shoulder. But not a robotic one. This is a familiar grip, one he knows all too well. And he looks up to see Vlad there on the roof with him. With Jenny standing a bit behind him. "Vlad...?"
"Let's get you home, alright?" And Danny just nods. "Maybe you were right, Daniel. We should've eased you into this. I'm afraid I pushed you again... I'm sorry." Vlad apologizes to him, then turning to Jenny. "And thank you for getting in contact with me. Jennifer, correct?"
"Jenny, actually. And of course. I wasn't really sure what else to do, honestly. I'm sorry for not being able to do more."
"Oh no, no. Don't apologize, my dear, you did what you could. And it's already more than you even needed to do, in the first place. Now, Daniel, why don't we head home? I've already gotten you signed out for the day." As Danny just nods, Vlad helps him up.
When Jenny returned home after school, she immediately goes to the lab to try and find her mom. "Mom? You in here?"
"Over here!" Her mom, Dr. Wakeman, calls out to her.
Jenny heads over. "Hey mom, I really need to ask you something."
"What is it?" She turns to face Jenny.
"Well, there was a few times today when my vision started to glitch out, and I'm not really sure why. I was hoping that you'd know." Jenny explains.
"Glitching vision? That's not good. I'll have to run a few tests, to be sure."
After testing out Jenny's various vision modes, and even looking into her head as well, she still can't seem to find anything.
"Well, I'm sorry to say that I don't have an answer. What, exactly, had happened whenever your vision glitched? Maybe it was caused by something environmental?" Dr. Wakeman suggests.
Jenny thinks for a moment, soon realizing the element connected to her glitching that she hadn't really thought about in the moment. "Now that I think about it, there was one thing in common with all my glitches."
"Which is?"
"Well... There's this new guy at school, and, well... It always seems to happen the closer I get to him. Is he doing something to me?" This fleeting thought concerns Jenny for a moment.
Her mom just chuckles at that a bit. "Oh sweetie, no. I highly doubt that. Are you sure you're not just experiencing feelings for this boy, hm? It's quite possible that those feelings are effecting the rest of you in unpredictable ways. It happens to girls all the time. Just not usually so literally."
Jenny then just blushes. "You... You think so? I... I guess I do sorta like him, maybe? I'm not sure... But nothing like this had happened with any other guys, though?"
"Sometimes feelings can be a bit more intense with some than with others. Anyways, if it does continue, let me know, and I'll see if there's something that we can do about it. Alright?"
Jenny nods. "Okay. And thanks." She then heads out of the lab.
Chapter Text
"Daniel." Vlad decides to speak up as they're working together on building a new ghost portal.
"Yeah?"
"I hate to say this, I don't want to restrict you, but I believe that it will be best if you try to avoid that robot girl." Vlad states.
"What? Why? I like hanging out with her!"
"I understand, Daniel. But there is something that you must understand, as well." Vlad starts.
"Which is?" Danny just stops working for the moment, looking to Vlad, arms crossed.
Vlad sighs. "You didn't notice, did you?"
This just slightly confuses him. "Notice what?"
"Your very presence around that girl is causing her to glitch. I don't know how she hasn't noticed, but I could certainly see it."
"What? But why would it-?"
"You're a ghost. And not just any ghost, but the one next in line for the throne at that, Daniel. A ghost's ecto-biology already messes with normal technology to begin with, but yours is more potent. For her own safety, Daniel, you must avoid her. Do you understand?"
After a moment, a dejected Danny just nods.
"...Why don't we just put this up, for now. We can continue another day." Vlad suggests.
At that, Danny quickly starts to leave.
"For what it's worth; I'm sorry, Daniel." Vlad calls out after him, but is only met with silence. He just sighs, "I truly am..."
Later that evening, Danny just flies, invisibly, above the town, having refused the limo driver adamantly as he was leaving, wanting to try and clear his head. And taking flight has always helped with that. But not this time, apparently. There's just too much on his mind right now. What if he accidentally hurts her? Just from being around her? It's not fair!
Danny soon spots a place down below by the name of Mezmers. Isn't that supposed to be a pretty popular place? While there will be a possibility of running into someone from school, Danny decides to take a chance. Hopefully he won't have any more breakdowns. He flies down into a nearby alley, turning visible again once he's sure that no one else is around, then turns back into his human self.
Heading into Mezmers, he looks around. Definitely popular. He decides to sit at one of the barstools at the counter, hoping that no one will notice him. He just orders a burger with a shake, his usual go to. After his food arrives, he starts in on it. Almost as good as the Nasty Burger. I should bring Sam and Tucker here, whenever they end up getting a chance to visit.
Though before Danny gets a chance to truly enjoy his food, the doors behind him slam open, and everything goes deathly silent. Which is never a good sign. Then what he hears annoys him the most.
"Don't stop the party on our account, we wanna have fun, too." An annoying voice calls out, as everyone either runs away or hides. Danny doesn't bother, though, he's seen the type before. Hell, he's even fought the type before. So, he just continues on with his burger, just trying to ignore them for now.
Until of course a large green arm soon appears around his shoulders. Green? It's not a ghost, not the same bright sickly green that a ghost would be, this green is more muted. Then what are they?
"Lookie here, girls! Looks like someone still wants to play! So, what's your name, kid?" The one with the arm around him asks. She's clearly the leader, then.
Danny glances around him to spot several fish-frog people. Are they some sort of mutant? Or maybe they're more alien in nature? And they appear to be wearing... biker outfits? That just confuses him further.
"Look, I'm really not in the mood right now. So, as long as you leave me alone, you can continue on with whatever you were about to do. Otherwise, we might just end up having a problem." Danny simply states, taking a sip from his shake.
"Oh, a tough guy, huh? Well, we can fix that." Danny can hear the malicious smirk in the biker frog lady's voice, and he just sighs.
"Alright then, I warned you." And his eyes flash green for a moment.
Jenny soon lands in front of Mezmers, hoping that she's not too late, and that not too many people had gotten hurt. But as she's about to go inside, Letta and her Space Bikers actually end up running out instead, looking more beat up then when she usually gets done with them.
"You can deal with that psycho in there, robot girl, I ain't havin' nothin' to do with him!" Letta calls out as her and the other bikers get on their bikes and speed away, much to Jenny's confusion.
"What?" Jenny starts to head inside, though more cautiously this time. Though as she does, and her vision starts to glitch out again. Oh god, is Danny in there? Is he okay? This time, though, it's even worse then before, and she ends up bumping into someone heading out. She tries to get her vision under control, but can't seem to. They say something, but the words just end up garbled, is her hearing glitching out now, too? Just great. And then the mysterious person ends up taking off. Flying! Who is this? "Hey, stop!" She takes off after the figure, though soon loses sight of it. So, she turns on her thermal vision. Though instead of finding a heat signature, they appear familiarly cold. No, freezing this time. This couldn't be... Could it? No, it can't be...
Jenny soon manages to catch up with them, flying above them, then attempts to slam into them in order to get them to land, but she ends up going through them, instead! "Just stop already! I just want to talk!" The figure says something, but it's still garbled, and then manages to speed away. Her vision returns to normal the further away they get, but she refuses to give up. She has to know who this is, and what they've been doing to her! So she goes until her vision starts to glitch out again, and then keeps on going. And she soon comes upon a huge mansion. Looking around with her thermal vision, she soon spots the freezing figure, along with an unnaturally burning hot figure, underground. Must be in some sort of basement, then.
Instead of trying to find the entrance, she just decides to make her own, and starts drilling down, soon enough breaking into an underground lab of some sorts. What is it with rich people and hidden underground labs?
Though she then starts glitching out even more then before. This amount of glitching is actually really concerning now. She can barely keep herself up now. She can hear the two practically arguing with each other, even if she can't tell what's being said, she still can at least tell that much.
Though Jenny soon ends up starting to shut down, as a safety measure, to try and protect against all the glitching. "Shit..." She collapses onto the floor of the unknown lab as all of her systems shut down.
"What did you do?" Vlad asks Danny angrily.
"I was just taking down some sort of alien biker gang, and when she showed up, she started chasing me down. Which I guess isn't exactly something new, being hunted down and all, but I lost her, I swear I did!" Danny defends.
"Well you obviously didn't! And now there's a huge hole in not only my ceiling, but also my yard! Which is a huge security risk, might I add."
"And a safety hazard." Danny points out.
"Yes, yes, that too. Anyways, what, praytell, do you expect us to do now?"
"I'll figure something out. Just... Just let me handle this, alright? I know her better then you do." Danny states.
Vlad just scoffs at that. "Barely. You've only known her for a few days, Daniel." Vlad points out.
"Just let me handle this, okay?" Danny snaps at him.
"Fine. But I will be nearby, when you end up needing me." Vlad informs him.
"Yeah, yeah." Danny says, rolling his eyes, going over to Jenny, thinking about how to fix her glitching in his presence. "How does he get his, well, everything down here in the lab, to work when he's around? ...Maybe I do need Vlad's help?" Danny then just shakes the thought from his head. "No. I can do this. I just need to focus." After some time thinking. "Maybe it has something to do with ectoplasm? If so, then mine would probably be the best to use, anyways, right?" He asks himself.
Danny soon opens a panel on Jenny's chest. "I really hope she won't be too mad..." He then starts to rummage around within her. After a bit, he finally closes the panel back up again. He then moves on, opening a panel up on the back of her head. "...Okay, this feels like even more of a violation of personal space then before. I'm sorry, Jenny, but this is necessary..." Danny then starts to work on ghost proofing her senses as well.
After a while, Jenny actually starts to wake up, and Danny then attempts to finish up what he's working on in her as quickly as possible. He finishes up just as she fully regains consciousness, but he's unable to close the panel back up before she jumps up in alarm, looking around. Feeling the panel on the back of her head open, she immediately shuts it, quickly turning around to see who had been messing around inside of her, she whirls around, readying for a fight.
Danny, still in his ghost form as he worked, puts his hands up in an attempt to show that he means no harm. "I don't mean you any harm."
"Really? Well you're the one who knocked me out, and apparently decided to go poking around inside my head. So forgive me for not believing you."
"That shutting down thing was your systems trying to protect themselves from further damage, or something like that anyways." Danny tries to explain.
"Yeah, damage from you!"
"Technically, yes. But not on purpose. I swear. I'd never do anything to deliberately hurt you, Jenny. Honest."
Jenny's momentarily taken aback by this. "How do you know my name?" She asks, almost accusatorially.
Danny then realizes his mistake, having forgotten that he never changed back. "Shit... Look, you can't tell anyone about this, if I show you, alright?"
Jenny just scoffs at that. "I'll be the judge of that."
Danny thinks for a moment. "...Fine." He then transforms back into his human form.
Jenny just stares at him in shock. "D-Danny? But... Why would you..."
"Jenny, please, hear me out. I was just trying to fix-" But Danny is cut off by her quickly flying up and out of the lab, creating another hole in the ceiling. "-the glitches..." He sighs. "Fuck...!"
"Butter biscuits, Daniel! Look what you did!" Vlad exclaims as he heads over.
"I know! I'll go after her!"
"Not that. Well, sure, that too, but now there's another hole in my ceiling. Do you know how much that's going to cost, Daniel?"
"Seriously? Our secret, and my social life, could be at risk here, and you're worrying about repair costs?! You're rich! Who, other then you, cares about the cost right now?" Danny rants at Vlad.
Vlad soon relents. "You're right. I'm sorry. Go after her. But remember. She may be a robot, but she is still a teenage girl. Tread carefully, badger." He warns.
"Right." Turning back into his ghost form, he flies up and out of the lab.
Danny flies around, invisibly, looking for Jenny. I should've told her sooner... He silently admonishes himself. He knows what keeping secrets like this from friends can do. But he was afraid of a reaction similar to his parents'. It was a silly fear, thinking on it now. And all he's accomplished at this point was upsetting her.
He soon manages to spot her through a large window as he's flying about. He flies intangibly through the wall to what appears to be her bedroom. Jenny is laying face down on her bed, very clearly still upset. I hope she won't be too angry over the intrusion, but I need to talk with her as soon as possible.
Danny soon drops his invisibility as he lands on the floor, though sticks to his ghost form for now. "Jenny?"
She immediately sits up when she hears his voice, looking over to him, an angry yet still upset look on her face. "What are you doing here? Go away!" She yells at him as she simply throws her pillow at him, which he merely lets go through him.
"Jenny, please, I'm sorry. Please let me explain!" Danny pleads with her.
"No! I don't want to see you right now!" Jenny then fires a laser from her palm at Danny.
"Woah!" Danny ducks under the laser, narrowly avoiding it, not having expected such an aggressive response. "Okay, okay! I'm going!" He then flies up. "I truly am sorry, though, Jenny..." He then flies intangibly out of the house.
Jenny just stares at the spot where Danny had left for a while, then looks down to the hole in the wall from when she had fired her laser at him earlier. "Shit..."
Danny, back in his human form, sits at his desk in his room, feeling rather dejected, head buried in his hands. He doesn't even bother looking up when he hears a knock on the door, just mumbles out a "Go away..." that would've barely been audible to anyone without super hearing. Though he hears the door opening anyways, and doesn't even bother looking up. Not even when he feels a familiar hand on his shoulder. "I really fucked up..."
"You were trying to help her."
Danny's finally looking up at Vlad now. "Well that's not how she saw it. I was literally messing around inside her head, Vlad! That... That's gotta be some sort of violation of privacy, right? Especially for a robot! I should've just let you do it, at least then she'd hate you and not me..." Though as Vlad just raises a questioning eyebrow at him, he backtracks. "Sorry... But, I mean, c'mon, she trusted me, and I broke that...!"
"She'll come around again, eventually. The reason that she was so hurt by your actions was because she cares about you, Daniel. You just need to give her a bit of time alone, first." Vlad tries comforting Danny, but since he's not had to do this before, he's not entirely sure just how sound his advice truly is. He's not going to key Danny in on that little tidbit just yet though.
"You really think so...?"
"Of course. Now, just rest up for tonight, my little badger, and we'll get you your private tutor back tomorrow."
"...Actually, I kinda wanted to return to school?" Danny asks hopefully.
"Are you sure? You almost had a panic attack last time, and were disassociating pretty hard." Vlad reminds him.
"I know. But... It won't get any better if I just hole myself up in the mansion for my entire life."
Vlad just smiles at him. "Alright. If that's what you truly want. Just rest up now." He then starts to head out, then pauses and looks back at Danny. "I'm proud of you, Daniel." Vlad then exits Danny's room, leaving him all alone with his thoughts once more.
Jenny, in her mom's lab with her checking her over, just rants at her. "I trusted him, mom! And he... he was rummaging around inside my head, literally! After he... well, I don't really know how he managed to knock me out, but he did! Is that what he's been trying to do this entire time? I should've known better..."
"Mm-hmm..." Is all Nora manages to get out, too busy trying to figure out what modifications that Danny had made to Jenny, and why.
"Mom! Are you even listening!"
"Of course I am dear, but I'm also trying to analyze what he modified within you. Though I may need some time to compare the before and afters. I should have an answer for you by the time you return from school tomorrow. For now, go to bed, sweetie, okay? I'm sure you'll feel better in the morning." She instructs Jenny.
"...I hope you're right." Jenny, after being closed back up and okayed to go, heads back to her room, her thoughts still on Danny. Why was she still thinking about him? She didn't want to be thinking about him, especially right now, before bed! She just flops down, face first, onto her bed with an exasperated growl.
Chapter 3
Notes:
Sorry about the delays between chapters, I haven't forgotten about my story, I swear! I just can't seem to focus for long enough periods of time in order to get a full chapter out in only a few sittings. So I usually end up writing a little at a time every now and then. Hope all you wonderful readers are enjoying! 😜
Chapter Text
Danny, walking through the halls of school the next morning, tries to keep to himself as much as possible. It isn't that hard, most kids, having gotten used to him as the new kid by now, just ignore him now. Thankfully. Though there's still those two. The Crust Cousins. They still won't leave him alone. And speaking of...
"Oh Daniel!" He hears Brit call out as the two cousins gleefully approach him.
Danny just sighs, looking over to them. "For the last time, Brit, call me Danny."
"But Daniel sounds so much more sophisticated." Brit complains.
"I don't care. Only Vlad gets to call me that. And leave me alone. I'm really not in the mood for games today. Got it?" Danny, sounding uncharacteristically serious, stuns Brit and Tiff with the forcefulness behind his words.
"Uh, alright..." She soon manages to stammer out, not sure how else to respond.
Danny then just heads off, leaving the both of them behind, still speechless.
He's at his locker now, getting what he needs for his classes, when his locker door is suddenly shut. Danny looks over, noticing Brad. He just sighs. "What do you want?"
"I don't know what you did to Jenny, Danny, but I do know that it has something to do with you. And she's upset." Brad explains seriously, his hand still keeping Danny's locker closed.
"I'm really not in the mood for an interrogation right now, Brad." Danny retorts.
"Well I'm not leaving until I get answers."
"Fine then." Danny then turns his arm intangible, reaching into his still shut locker to retrieve the books he needs. "I got what I need." He glances around real quick to make sure that no other students saw, and then heads off, leaving a stunned Brad still standing there.
Sitting there, in class, Danny just ends up spacing off during most of it, and decidedly ignores the glares from Sheldon. Though he's not too worried. About him, or the class. He already knows most of this material from his time with his private teachers, anyways. Without having to worry about any ghost hunting, Danny was able to actually get into the advanced versions of the classes. And he assumes that Sheldon is smart enough to be able to just straight up ignore the class as well. He does seem the type. Maybe they'd have been able to be friends, if he had met him before Jenny. Oh well.
The first half of the school day goes by pretty quickly, honestly. Danny tries to be quick about getting his stuff together and being one of the first ones out of the room, trying to get to the lunch room before he has to encounter Jenny and friends. He, admittedly, still hasn't figured out what to say to her. Unfortunately for him, Sheldon is right on his tail. He tries to ignore him by walking faster, but the boy is surprisingly fast for a nerd.
He finally manages to ditch him by swiftly cutting a corner in the hall to force Sheldon to lose sight of Danny, and using a more ghostly shortcut to get to the cafeteria. He's not sorry. He likes his privacy, and everyone around here never seems to have even heard of the concept. He's almost rethinking the whole public schools thing. Almost.
He quickly gets his lunch, and sits at a lonely table in a corner of the cafeteria. Surprisingly, not even Brit and Tiff are bugging him this lunch period. Thankfully. Maybe he'll even be able to finish soon and leave before anything significant could happen.
But he just had to jinx it, didn't he? Danny just lets out an exasperated sigh. "What now?"
"What do you mean what? I want an explanation!" Jenny had come over to where he was attempting to eat, followed by none other then both Brad and Sheldon. Why does everybody always end up interrupting his eating time? It's beginning to become annoying.
"I've tried! You never let me!"
"Because I want to hear the truth!"
"You won't be satisfied until you prove that I'm the bad guy, will you?"
"You've literally been messing with my senses whenever you're around me."
"And how are you doing now, by the way?"
"Don't change the subject, I trusted you! And you used that trust to mess with my head! Friends don't do that!" Jenny exclaims.
"I'm sorry, but I will not apologize for helping you." Danny simply states.
"Helping? It was your fault I was glitching out in the first place!" She accuses.
"Yes, but I wasn't doing it on purpose. I was trying to avoid hurting you! That's why I had to go inside your head, so that I could fix you! I had initially wanted to ask you, but then you just had to follow me home, where it made it worse, so I had no choice but to do it without permission. I swear that I would never do anything to purposefully cause you any harm, Jenny." Danny explains.
"A likely story!" Sheldon interjects. "That's just what anyone who was guilty would want us to think!"
"Look, you can believe me or not, I really don't care either way. But I am telling you the truth."
"Then tell me why I was glitching out around you, Danny. Then I'll figure out if I believe you or not." Jenny soon attempts at a compromise.
"I'm sorry, but that's not something that I can reveal to you so easily. Especially here. Not like you'd believe me if I were to tell you, anyways."
"See? I told you he was no good, Jenny!"
"Sheldon, please! I'm trying to think!"
"Sorry..."
"I don't think that we should be involved with each other anymore, Danny..." Jenny finally admits.
"...Alright. I understand..." Danny responds quietly.
Sheldon almost seems pleased, Jenny's quiet, and Brad just seems concerned for Jenny.
"Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to continue my lunch in peace..." Danny requests, and the others finally leave him alone.
Danny was hoping that flying about would help to clear his mind. It usually helped, in the past. But not now. His mind is too busy. He can't seem to sort through his own thoughts properly. His mind just keeps circling back to Jenny. But why? They're just friends.
He doesn't even care that he technically left school early. If they end up calling Vlad for it, he'll probably come up with some sort of excuse for him, then ask him about it later. He won't even get angry. Vlad's been surprisingly chill recently. Which, admittedly, makes picking on him not as fun anymore, like it used to be. But he is glad that he's finally learning how to relax. Vlad used to be so uptight pretty much, well, all the time really.
That thought makes him smile a bit, but his mind continues to wonder to Jenny. What could he have done differently? She was definitely more effected by him in his ghost form then when he's human. And how would it effect her when he finally starts to turn into his true ghostly form? Not to mention she's a teen robot. Sure, being part ghost slows down his physical aging, but she won't ever age herself, would she? Not without outside help, anyways.
But why does he even care about all that, anyways? They're just friends, or at least, they were. Right?
Before he knows it, it's actually starting to get dark. How long has he been flying for? And where even is he? His thoughts had been spiraling so much and so quickly that he never even noticed anything else around him. Vlad wouldn't care about the skipping school, but he will be upset with him for being out for so long. He should head back now. He just needs to get his bearings, now, and figure out where he is.
He's still not familiar with the streets to know where to go right off hand, so he pulls his phone out, but of course it's dead. Because it always is. He always forgets to bring his charger. Must be something about his ghostly biology that ends up draining the battery quicker. Or maybe it's just that he's terrible at remembering to keep it plugged in. Either way, he'll have to ask someone. Putting his phone away, he looks around for someone, soon spotting a kid playing, but with no one else around. Does no one supervise their kids around here?
So, he flies on down, stopping to float just above the ground. "Hey, kid, you live around here, right?"
"Yeah. Why?" The kid turns to face Danny, though he doesn't seem to even notice him floating, or if he does he doesn't care.
"I'm kinda a bit lost, actually. Do you know the area well?"
"Of course! This isn't one of those 'lure the kid away to kidnap them' sorta things, is it?" The kid nonchalantly asks.
"What? No! I'm legit lost. Why would you think that?"
"Well, for starters, you are floating off the ground."
"Oh, that. Was wondering if you'd notice that."
"What are you?"
"...Don't tell anyone, okay?"
"Okay!"
"My name's Danny, I'm actually a ghost." He hopes that telling him his name will help the kid believe him easier.
"Yeah right." The kid just rolls his eyes, not believing Danny.
"It's true, watch." Danny then turns himself invisible, then visible again.
"Nice try, but invisibility can be used with the right tech. Next!"
"Fine then. How about this?" Danny then turns his right arm intangible, and actually sticks it through the kids chest, which ends up sending a chill throughout the kid.
"Whoa...!" The kid exclaims as he shivers. Though he seems more curious then scared. "Cool!"
"Really? You're not scared?" Danny asks, a little incredulously.
"Not really. All kinds of things show up around here."
"So I've noticed."
"So, you're, like, dead or something, then, right?"
"Sorta."
"How can you only be sorta dead?"
"Well... Without getting a too much into it, I had a bit of an accident a few years ago, and only half died. I'm what the other ghosts call a 'halfa'." Danny explains. "So now I can turn into a ghost whenever I want."
"Neat! But what's with the crown?" The kid asks curiously.
"You can see that? Strange."
"Kids can see all sorts of stuff that grown ups can't."
"I suppose so. Anyways, I had taken down the last ghost king in battle, so the others had decided to make me the new heir. I didn't actually want it, but I kinda needed the power that the crown gives me to... save someone that I cared about. So, here we are, now."
"That's so awesome! One on one combat with a more powerful ghost king to claim the throne, that's something I'd have paid to see!"
"Yeah... It sounds cool, but it was terrifying in the moment." They talk for a while longer before Danny finally remembers why he had flown down in the first place. After finally getting directions from the kid, he takes off. Only realizing after he's left that he never got the kid's name. Oh well. But why'd they end up talking for so long, anyways? The kid isn't even anywhere near his own age. Well, maybe it's because he's so used to being looked down upon, maybe he just enjoyed someone looking up to him, for once? Either way, he's quickly found a few landmarks that he finally recognizes, and soon manages to find his way back to the mansion. He really needs Vlad to teach him that teleporting ability that he's been working on recently. It'd definitely come in handy. It would've come in handy a lot, in the past. But he highly doubts that Vlad would have ever shown him any time in the past, before all these events occurred.
He soon flies intangibly into his room, wanting to avoid Vlad for the moment. When he lands and turns back to human, he soon notices none other then Vlad sitting in a chair nearby, in his room, waiting for him. "Oh, hey, Vlad..."
Vlad just sighs. "Daniel. You can't keep doing this." He just seems a bit annoyed. "There's only so much that the school will be willing to overlook, even for me, Daniel."
"...Can I go back to the private teachers, maybe...?" Danny soon manages to meekly ask.
"What happened, Daniel?" Vlad just seems more concerned now, then anything else.
"It's just... I..." Danny sighs. "You were right the first time, Vlad, I'm really not ready for public schools, just yet... But maybe we can try again, next school year?" He soon asks, a bit hopefully.
"Of course. I'll arrange for everything at once."
"Thanks."
"Anything for you, my little badger."
Jenny just sits in her mom's lab, waiting for the test results to finish. "Well?" Jenny asks impatiently.
"Just calm down, XJ-9, I'm almost done. Teenagers nowadays are so impatient."
"Alright, alright. Geez..."
After not too much longer later, Nora finally heads over to Jenny with the results. She hands a fairly long paper over to Jenny for her to look over. "Well, I don't know what exactly that boy did to you, XJ-9, but whatever he did do is amazing. It's, and I regret having to admit this, but it's much better than the prototype of the update that I've been working on for you. Who is this boy? Because he's a genius, one that figured out in hours what's taken me days to even get close to. And he did it for you, without asking for anything in return, correct? I'd keep him around, for sure." She just chuckles a bit as she says that, but quickly stops when she notices that Jenny looks concerned. "What's wrong? I assumed that you'd be thrilled, you get to continue hanging out with your friend without any worries."
"Yeah, but... I..."
"What happened?"
"I got angry at him because he refused to tell me what happened and what he did, he left school early, and I haven't seen him since." Jenny explains, fairly quickly. If she had lungs, she'd also probably be hyperventilating slightly, too.
"Oh, I see."
"That's all you have to say, 'I see'?!"
"If you'll let me finish, I was about to say that most genius' are very secretive, especially the young prodigy types. And he was also probably afraid of your reaction. Because, genius or not, he is still a teenaged boy, after all."
"And I still ended up reacting the exact way that he was trying to avoid..." Jenny just hides her face behind her hands.
"Jenny." Nora grabs Jenny's hands away from her face, and Jenny just stares at her. "Just find him at school tomorrow, and apologize. It may take a while to build that friendship back up, but I'm sure that he'll understand. Alright?"
Jenny just nods.
"Everything will be just fine."
"I hope so..."
Chapter Text
Over the next few days, Danny continues to help Vlad out on the new Ghost Portal in his free time. And soon enough, they finally finish it. They stand before the completed, yet still deactivated, portal, ready to turn it on.
"Ready, Daniel?"
"As I'll ever be."
"And, I should assume that you know by now not to enter it, should it for some reason not turn on, hm?" Vlad asks him, playfully mocking him.
"Oh hardy har har. Just turn it on, already."
Just smirking, Vlad pushes a button, and the portal only sparks at first, but soon ends up swirling to life with a pinkish-red energy.
"It looks a bit different from your old portal." Danny notes.
"Each portal is unique. Never the same twice."
After studying the portal for a moment, Danny then speaks up. "Your calculations were off."
"What? No they weren't." Vlad says, sounding offended.
"Don't get me wrong, it'll still function like any other portal, assuming it's taken care of properly, anyways. It's just not gonna lead to where you had originally intended, is all."
After looking at some of his work on a nearby computer, Vlad finally relents. "Seems like you may be correct. ...How could I have missed that?"
"May be? I am. And you tried to pass it off by getting all deep about it." Danny mocks.
"Oh be quiet, you." Vlad huffs.
Danny just chuckles. "Anyways, how are you going to prevent other ghosts from getting through?"
"Well, aside from the fact that only someone insane would invade through a portal with your ecto-signature attached to it, I do have a prototype of a new security system for the portal that I've been wanting to try out." Vlad explains.
"Vlad, at least half of my usual enemies are insane. If anything, that'd attract them even more."
"Well then, we should probably upgrade that portal security system sooner, rather than later, hm?"
"Yeah. I just hope that, before then, we won't run into too much trouble." Danny comments hopefully.
"Dare to dream, Daniel. So, shall we go explore the other side, once more?" The two of them soon transform into their ghost forms, and head through the new portal, planning on mapping out the area around the portal.
Over those few days, Jenny would continue to look for Danny, seeming disappointed when she can't find him. Not at school, and not out about the town either. So, after school, as she's hanging out with her friends, she decides to ask them about Danny, in the hopes that they know something.
"Why? Why would you care about him? I thought you didn't like him anymore?" Sheldon quickly stammers out.
"Because he wasn't explaining himself! But after my mom ran some tests, she figured some things out that explains some things that he did, and now I feel bad for getting angry, because he really was just trying to help."
"What tests?"
Jenny then shows the two of them the paper with the test results that she was given.
"Yeah, I have absolutely no clue what it is that I'm looking at." Brad admits as he looks at it.
Though Sheldon almost immediately notices what it is, and snatches it away from Brad, with Brad only glaring at him for a moment. "Holy moley! Danny really came up with all this on the spot as he was fixing you? That's amazing!" Sheldon exclaims as he looks the paper over. "I really underestimated him."
"We all did, it seems." Brad admits.
"Danny deserves better..." Jenny laments.
"Hey, did you say Danny?" Tuck asks as he runs up to them. "I know him! He was cool."
"Wait, when did you meet Danny?" Brad asks quizzically of his younger brother.
"A few days ago. But I haven't seen him since. Which is a bummer, because I wanna hear about some more of his ghostly adventures!" Tuck practically has stars in his eyes as he starts to talk rapidly about Danny.
"Tuck!" Brad ends up having to interrupt Tuck before he starts full on ranting.
"What?"
"What happened when you met him?"
"Oh, that. He was flying by, which was cool, but stopped because he needed help finding somewhere. And then we got to talking. And he told me about some of his ghost fights too, which were epic." Tuck starts to explain.
"You keep saying 'ghost', what do you mean?"
"That he's dead, obviously." Tuck simply says, as if it were apparent.
"Wait, what?!"
"Yeah, he's a ghost. Well, he's actually only half dead. So he's technically only half ghost."
"It all makes sense now!" Sheldon exclaims. "Ghosts are notorious for causing technology around them to freak out. That must have been what was happening when you were glitching out, Jenny. He must have been trying to find a way to help you out, but had to improvise when you had followed him." Sheldon theorizes.
"And guess what else!" Tuck says excitedly. "He even beat the old Ghost King! I wish I could've seen a fight that epic!"
"What?" Brad just seems confused at the implications of what Tuck is trying to say.
"Wait, wait, wait...! You're saying that Danny is... That he's the King of the Ghosts?" Sheldon asks, terrified as he thinks about how he's acted towards Danny so far.
"Yep!"
"How would you know that? You don't know anything about ghosts, do you?" Brad asks.
"Well, not really, but considering they're all dead, they can't have an heir the normal way, presumably, so they obviously have to choose the next king through trial by combat, or something similar, where the one who defeats the king becomes the new king. Seems pretty clear to me." Sheldon explains his thought process.
"Yeah. He's really awesome. Any idea when he'll be back around? I wanna hear more epic tales!" Tuck exclaims.
"Uh, well... We're not really sure when, or if, he will be..." Jenny starts.
"What? Why?" Tuck seems a bit dejected.
"We might have accidentally gotten him mad at us..." Jenny admits.
"What? Well, I mean, Brad sure-"
"Hey." Brad only sounding mildly offended.
"But you, Jenny? I thought better of you." Tuck continues on. Though with Sheldon snickering slightly in the background, Tuck soon turns on him as well. "And you." To which he immediately stops, and just looks over at Tuck. "I know you're far from innocent. You probably let your jealousy run crazy, didn't you? What with Jenny making friends with another guy and all." The three teens just sorta stare at Tuck. "What? I may be a kid, but I'm very observant." Tuck says as he just simply crosses his arms.
"Right... So, where was he going, again?" Brad decides to finally ask.
"Oh, right. That giant mansion that was just recently built. He's got a terrible sense of direction, honestly."
"Of course. I should've known. I'll go check it out." Jenny states.
"We should go together. I-it'll be safer." Sheldon quickly interjects.
"But it would be overwhelming for him if all of us went." Jenny argues back. But before the others can even get anything out, she starts to fly up. "So I'm going on my own." She says as she flies off.
As Jenny gets to the mansion, she lands in front of the front doors, knocking. She's soon let in by a servant, and instructed to wait in the entranceway for them to return.
She looks around as she waits. "This place is really fancy. It's no wonder why he doesn't want to leave here, it's probably got everything he could ever need..."
She soon ends up wandering into a library nearby, though as she gets closer to the large bookshelf towards the back, the edges of her vision tint green. Not glitching like it was before, but it's now more to indicate a ghost being close by. She follows this to the shelf, looking for a book on the shelf that might end up being a switch. Though why that book is an old sports statistics almanac, she can't seem to figure that bit out. It just seems a bit out of place among the rest of the books, but oh well. When she pulls the book, a click can be heard, and a portion of the shelf recedes into the wall, leading to another door. This one more high tech. Which is just her specialty.
Jenny walks up to the door, plugging into the panel beside the door, and easily opens it, heading on into the lab on the other side of the door. She looks around the lab. "This must've been where he fixed me. It's more impressive then mom's lab." Though Jenny would never actually tell her that.
Jenny soon comes upon the Portal to the Ghost Zone, looking at it in amazement. Though the green around the edges of her vision soon gets more intense as something seems to be coming out from the portal. Or rather, someone. She gets almost excited at first. "Danny, I-" Before she then quickly realizes that that's definitely not Danny. "Wait, who are you?"
The strange tall, and floating figure, most definitely another ghost then, right? Has green skin, like a vividly sickeningly green, is that normal? And his stark white hair is combed back into a mullet. And with those glasses? Talk about a fashion disaster. Then again, if he is a ghost, then he is technically dead, so, who is she to judge?
"No, I am not the ghost boy. I, little girl, am Technus! Master of-! Wait," He gets closer to Jenny. "are you a robot?"
"Uh, maybe...?" She's getting a bad feeling about this.
"Amazing! Things just got a lot more interesting."
Jenny decidedly does not like the creepy sinisterness to this Technus guy's voice. And then there's that annoying cackling of his.
Notes:
I believe that this chapter is shorter then the others, and I'm sorry about that coupled with the wait, but I actually liked the idea of leaving it at that little cliffhanger for now. Hope that it was worth the wait, and that you all liked it!
