Chapter Text
Chronodrift . This condition causes individuals to experience sudden, unpredictable episodes of sleep and losing the ability to breathe. Chronodrift isn't triggered by emotions or specific situations. It can strike anyone, anywhere, at any time.
Symptoms : The primary symptom of Chronodrift is sudden, uncontrollable sleep. There's no warning, no drowsiness beforehand. One moment someone is wide awake, the next they're fast asleep. The duration of these sleep episodes is unpredictable, ranging from a few seconds to several hours. However, a key characteristic is the sudden, pronounced paleness that accompanies each episode. The individual's skin loses all color, becoming almost ghostly white, almost similar to a corpse.
Cause: The exact cause of Chronodrift is unknown, but a leading theory points to a rare cellular mutation. This mutation affects the Hypothalamus, a part of the brain responsible for regulating sleep and wakefulness. The mutation disrupts the body's natural sleep cycle, causing random discharges that trigger the sudden sleep episodes. The paleness is theorized to be linked to a malfunction in the body's autonomic nervous system, which controls blood flow, during these sleep discharges.
There is also a fact that it is a slow phased illness, it is untraceable if the patient has this as a child, but as they grow older it would become more pronounced as an adult.
Every time the illness attacked. There is a 100% chance of the patient looking like a dead body, with them not able to breathe during the attack. Patients must be monitored during this or they might die in their sleep.
Note: Chronodrift is an untreatable illness, but it can't hinder everyday life style if the patient is treated well. This illness is very rare to the point it happens every 900 years. It can also be dangerous for the patient if this illness has been untreated since childhood.
