why so shy?

Summary:

"That's it?"

It's such a small reason, one that Suguru thought would be something like; personal insecurities, which, like hell somebody like Satoru would have. Or, Satoru being insecure with something about him like being a whiney man-child, or anything rather that he thought was serious. But this? Suguru swears that he's really trying his best not to laugh at Satoru.

Satoru isn't looking at him, he isn't looking at him because he's too embarrassed by what he just said and he feels like Suguru is judging him by now. Even he agrees that it's such an absurd circumstance to have that made this entire situation in the first place, and it only made it more awkward, the silence between the two only making the air around them even worse and tense than it already is.

Or,
Suguru notices that Satoru's been shy around him lately, and it's his job to find out why.

Chapter Text

"Satoru, have you gone shy?"

The question took Satoru off guard, why, and more importantly, what would he be shy about? He's certain that he's not shy about anything, let alone that he's always an active person and likes to do things his way with minimal evidence of embarrassment.

"Huh?" The white-haired man responds in confusion, his fingers start to fidget around the drink he's holding, contemplating the simple question. "I am not," He answers with uncertainty hidden in his voice. Was he? Even with his ever-so-precious six eyes, he can never really see how others perceive him as. "Yeah, I'm not shy, where'd you even get that from?"

The long-haired man notices the slight fidget in the others' hands. "You sure?" He assures.

Satoru chuckles. "What do you mean? I'm not shy about anything y'know!" He adds, brushing it off as he crushes his drink with minimal effort and throws it to a trashcan nearby, shooting perfectly.

Suguru shuffles himself closer to Satoru, his hand directs itself to grab Satoru's hand gently and take ahold of his palm, grabbing Satoru's attention to be directed to him only.

Satoru clears his throat, and Suguru opens his mouth to ask him again. "Are you sure?" He says with a gentle tone.

The other doesn't respond immediately, only a slight flush becomes evident in his ears. "Yeah," He says softly after a short pause.

Suguru notices the change in Satoru, he puts a hand near Satoru's face to cup his cheek and draws it gently to move his palm up close to the other's ear and rubs his fingers in his hair. "Then it's alright if I can do this, right?"

"...Right," He responds softly, the flush from his ears starting to form around his face. He attempts to cover his mouth with his spare hand to hide his embarrassment. Suguru notices this and he thinks it's cute, in a way how he sees him attempting to hide his face to ultimately kind of fail.

Suguru comes closer to Satoru's face, placing a small kiss on his cheek shortly after. He pauses for a moment to see how Satoru will react, once having the result that the other didn't react, he continues placing a small line of soft kisses on the other, whispering a small "Satoru." in between.

"Wait," Satoru says, cutting the silence between them. He slightly, gently pushes Suguru away from him. "..I have to get back to my students." He says softly.

Suguru looks at the other as he sees him having his head turned to the side and is blushing profusely. He then processes the words he heard and is slightly taken aback, man, the poor guy hasn't had his fill of giving him kisses yet! "Oh, right, sorry." He says gently, widening the distance between him and the other.

Satoru takes a small breather. "It's alright," He says, giving Suguru a small kiss before taking off. "I'll see you later, 'kay?"

Suguru blushes a little bit. "O-okay," He replies as he watches the man begin to walk away to where he's headed off to. "bye."

So,

Satoru is shy to Suguru.

~

But what would Satoru be shy about?

Lost in thought, Suguru thinks that he is pretty certain that Satoru hasn't been shy to him. Hell, they've been together for more than a decade! Why would that guy start getting shy around him now?

Suguru sighs from the thought, has he been doing something that made Satoru shy around him? Shit, what if it starts from being shy and then to Satoru leaving him because of something he did that made Satoru shy in the first place?

"No!" Suguru worriedly shouts, jolting awake from his dissociation, startling the person beside him.

"Woah there!" Satoru reacts. "Is something wrong Suguru?" He says worried, concern in his voice as he checks up on Suguru.

Suguru catches an embarrassed face, drat, he forgot he was beside Satoru the whole time he was dissociating. "..Nothing!" He attempts to clear his throat. "Ehem, it's nothing, really."

You can tell Satoru is concerned even with the blindfold covering half of his face, before he even replies, Suguru cuts him off in an attempt to make a quite awful excuse at his embarrassing state.

"I just had one of those dreams where you're falling you know," He says hurriedly; an obvious lie in the way he executes his sentence.

"..I don't believe you," Satoru responds, catching the man red-handed in his lie. He then corrects his seating from leaning on the bench to then sitting properly to face Suguru. "You sounded worried when you said that, y'know?" He says with a bit of worry in his voice.

Suguru could almost call himself blessed, what did he do to deserve such a caring man like Satoru?

"I just had a thought: what if my beautiful princess leaves me? What will I do then?" He confesses dramatically, "I would perish!" he says whilst bringing a fist down with his eyes closed and eyebrows being noticeably furrowed.

"You airhead!" Satoru replies between laughs. "That's so cheesy,"

Suguru smiles as he watches the other chuckle—he's glad he's able to make him laugh, he loves seeing the way he can see Satoru adorable dimples as his face lights up when he smiles. He wishes he could see his entire face if not for his blindfold covering half of it, though.

"First of all, I'm a prince! Get it right, if anything; you're the princess here." Satoru corrects.

"...And,"

"I won't leave you, rest assured." He softly adds, a soft smile forming on his face.

Suguru blushes at the soft reassurance, phew, one less worry taken off his shoulders. He really is so blessed to have someone like him.

"I'd rather call myself a knight to be fitting for a prince like you," Suguru smugly says, making a handsome smile shortly after. It pissed Satoru off with how he said that so cool-like, albeit he liked it—a bit.

"Alright, alright," Suguru says as he exhales, before taking and kissing the back of Satoru's hand. "To apologize, does my prince want anything? I know many ways to say sorry~" He says while winking one eye.

Satoru hums as he thinks thoroughly about what he wants, what about that crème brûlée he saw online? or that new takoyaki item he saw? the fruit salad with lots of cream he saw down the street? or the hot potato he saw someone holding a while ago?

"That new popular colorful parfait in the new dessert cafe Nobara mentioned!" His face brightens as he says so with a brightened expression in his face.

"What?" Suguru sighed, that wasn't really the answer he was expecting, he should've remembered how much of a sweet tooth his Satoru is.

"But isn't that place packed with monkeys though? I don't want my uniform to be dirtied with monkey smell.." Suguru pouts, suddenly regretting his offer to give in to Satoru.

"Aw don't be like that now."

"But-"

"Come on,"

"I'm going to be smelly-"

"Suguru, please?"

Suguru sighs surrendering. After all, he can't say "no" to someone like Satoru, he'd probably get called "selfish" and, probably even "petty" by him, for refusing, it's such a small matter, it's not worth his time to be groaning and complaining over, right? "Fine, but only because it's for you," Suguru says exasperated.

Satoru waves joyfully, "Now go and fetch a parfait for this prince!" He exclaims happily.

Suguru waves goodbye as he starts to walk away from the manchild and off to the store he was sent to, rolling his eyes as he walks past the small number of monkeys people in his way, thinking about how blown his pocket money will be by the time he finishes ordering that cavity-inducing dessert that he regrettably accepted to buy.

"Wait," Suguru says to himself. "Wouldn't this be a good excuse to figure out if Satoru's shy around me?"

And yes, it is. He starts to conjure ideas about what would be the best possible plan to confirm his theory that Satoru is shy around him.

"How should I act around him? Clingy? Maybe he's shy because I'm not clinging to him more? Should I? What about PDA? That's a good choice, maybe. Perhaps he's shy because he's embarrassed by that? No, not likely—I don't see him acting all soft over matters like that."

Lost in thought, he doesn't realize he'd subconsciously already walked up to the cashier. Fortunately, there aren't many people in line, which saves him less the trouble and hassle of having to deal with the stench of those... people.

He orders the parfait Satoru asked for, holy, it's really expensive, and Satoru didn't mention to him how the item is limited. But by that, it really does look appetizing, colorful, sweet, and topped with lots of cream: it's as if this dessert was tailor-made for Satoru. You can tell just by looking at the picture alone that you'll be satisfied with its taste for hours.

And,

wait,

is that Satoru sitting outside?

"Will that be all for you sir?"

"Oh- yes, and two spoons, please."

~

"This tastes s-o good!" Satoru says before taking another bite off of the parfait.

"That one's really expensive, you know." Suguru replies before taking a bite himself, savoring the sweet taste crossly, "It's just ice cream and fruits!" He adds, taking another bite—a big one, out of annoyance.

"And plus, you didn't mention it was limited, both my pockets are blown because of this!" Suguru says whilst wiping the cream off his lips with a tissue.

"Wiwwy?" Satoru says with his mouth full. "So that's why it's so popular, limited!" Satoru says after clearing his mouth, before getting a spoonful out of the parfait and Suguru stealing the bite shortly after.

"Hey! That was mine!"

"But I bought it so it's technically mine!"

"But you asked if I wanted anything so it's still mine!" Satoru defends, strongly standing his ground.

"...I guess you're right," Suguru says softly, taking his spoon shortly after and getting a spoonful of fruit and cream from the dessert. "Open wide." He instructs, with Satoru doing so and being fed with something sweet after.

"..Can I at least get a "thank you", Satoru?" Suguru softly coos, a pout forming on his face as he says so. He swears Satoru is the shy one, but; he feels that now he's becoming the shy one around Satoru. How embarrassing.

Satoru realizes that since sitting down at the cafe, he hasn't told Suguru his regards. "Oh," He mutters, seeing the man in front of him looking to the side and awkwardly twirling his hair.

"Thanks," Satoru says softly, cupping Suguru's chin with his hand and turning his head to face him. "I really liked it, I'll treat you with my own money next time."

Suguru smiles at the soft offer. "Can you say that with more sincerity maybe?" He teases, pulling a finger out to pull one side of Satoru's blindfold to take a peek of Satoru's eye. "A knight can't feel praise from their prince if they can't see sincerity, you know?" He remarks.

Satoru sighs, taking a hand to take off half his blindfold. "Thank you," He says as he looks at Suguru with his eye open. "Satisfied?"

Suguru hums in approval, before coming up with an idea that relates to his thoughts from earlier. He moves his face slightly to the side as he points a finger at his cheek.

"Maybe a kiss here?" He asks softly

Satoru's ears turn to a light red. "What? No! I've done enough for you, and we're in public too." He remarks, embarrassingly making an attempt to make Suguru stop pointing at his cheek.

"But why?" Suguru exaggerates. "It's just a tiny kiss, come on."

"No." Satoru responds, taking a spoonful from the parfait while looking away from Suguru.

"Is it because you're shy?" Suguru asks quietly.

"'M not!" Satoru says. "We're in public, and, people might see, it's embarrassing."

"But you've been acting shy for the past few days and-"

Satoru abruptly cuts him off. "Just finish our parfait or I'm eating this all." He says, an annoyed expression on his face. Suguru could see this but he knows he's not that mad at him.

Suguru interlocks his fingers with Satoru's under the table—this small, secret interaction between them is hidden from anyone's sight and reserved only for the two.

"Come on, Satoru, tell me? Please?" Suguru asks in a whisper, his fingers caress Satoru's with such steadiness, making sure to calm him even if it's just under the table. "It'll just be between us—and Shoko, if I feel like it." He adds, a teasing remark following shortly after as he chuckles by himself.

Satoru steals a look at the man intently looking at him as he feels his fingers being caressed, he feels like his chest will explode with the amount of butterflies that are in his stomach (along with the dessert). His reason as to why he has this whole situation surrounding him is stupid and dumb! Embarrassing, even. Seriously, is Suguru just using his attractiveness and tactics to get the word out of him? He doesn't respond, he only ever opens his mouth and then closes abruptly. He wants to say something but just, can't? Why?

"But you might laugh at me for it," Satoru replies hushly, after fully closing his blindfold out of embarrassment.

"Well, that depends on what it is," Suguru teases, he playfully plays around the handle of the spoon as it clinks near the bottom of the near-empty glass of what once was a parfait. "Tell me now?"

"No, changed my mind." Satoru says in a monotone voice as he eats the remaining amount of dessert he has. Pulling a tissue out to wipe his mouth with leftover cream.

Suguru's fingers cling themselves around Satoru's fingers a bit tighter. "But-"

"No buts!" Satoru replies in a responsible tone, he frees himself from Suguru's fingers and proceeds to pinch them with his hand, gaining him a satisfying "Ack!"  from the man in front of him.

~

The two men proceed to walk out of the cafe.

"Oh, I forgot!" The tall man says, cutting the silence between the two and interrupting the light sounds of their shoes stepping on the ground.

"What did you forget Satoru?" The slightly shorter man asks in response.

"I forgot to take pictures of the parfait so I can make others jealous!" He replies, a sigh and a small pout following shortly afterward. "Do you think Shoko would've wanted some too?" He asks thoughtfully.

Suguru sighs, almost as if he's speaking on behalf of the aforementioned name. "I don't think she would've wanted to even get a sample of that." He says.

"But you know what she'd think?" Suguru says, turning his head to look at Satoru.

"What?" Satoru asks politely.

"She'd think about why you're so shy around me," Suguru answers in a remark. "Tell me now?"

"I'm not telling you, you'd laugh at me for it," Satoru says, deflating Suguru's excitement.

Suguru stops in his steps, and Satoru stops after. The setting around them gladly being generous to them by not having as much people around.

"I won't! I'd eat fifty—no, a hundred curses if I laughed," He says, a slight hint of desperation in his voice as he says so. "I've been conscious ever since I noticed, I always had this feeling that the reason why you're so shy around me is because of me, you know," He confesses. "so, can you tell me now?"

Satoru doesn't look at him, given his blindfold covering his eyes, it's a bit difficult to wonder what expression he has, it doesn't help with the situation since after Suguru confessed why he wants to know why Satoru's being shy, he hasn't given Suguru a response.

It's only a moment before a voice breaks the awkward silence between the two, the truth finally going to be let out.

"I-" Satoru cuts himself off. He deliberately lowers his voice so only a whisper can be heard out of him.

"I'm just—shy about sex,"

Notes:

TL;DR
Suguru unwillingly takes Satoru out on a date after he notices him acting shy around him lately, planning on getting the word out, he bugs him until he eventually, finally gets the reason why he's so shy around him— Satoru's shy about sex.
