Chapter 1: Modern Zuko au Part 1

• Zuko was burned by his father at the age of 10 and ran away from home. He ends up falling in an interdimensional portal and ends up in 2000s America with no memory except for his name.
• Zuko is placed in foster care and eventually adopted by Tom and Rosa Mitchell. He goes by Zuke, and has a younger adopted sister named Tamara “Tammy.”
• Zuke has a friend named Carl and the two have a love for anime and DnD.
• His family discovered his ‘fire powers’ and helped him hide and control them.

  • Due to not practicing fire bending, his skills are a bit weak.
  • A bit socially awkward
  • Wears glove as to not accidentally burn things
  • Later ditches them by season 3
• 16 by the time of the story
• Introvert due to his fire powers, and lets only a few people get close. 
• Loves anime and DnD. His favorite show is “Kai: Fire masters.”
• Into theatre and is part of the school drama club
• Has a soft spot for ducks.
• Hates when Tammy uses him to heat food
• Excellent forger
• Tamara “Tammy” Mitchell
  • Loves her brother and doesn’t take kindly to anyone being mean to Zuke.
  • Likes to freak people out with horror stories/myths
• 13 year old african american girl with slightly reddish hair that she wears in four braids: Two normal ones and two smaller ones on the back of her neck.
• A bit sarcastic and well meaning.
• Is into horror stories and the macabre. Loves the Goosebumps series and local horror legends
• Is goth and wears all black
• Car Loughty
  • If he gets too focused on something, he tunes everything out and Zuke or Tammy have to bring him out of it.
• 16 year old caucasian, ginger and wears glasses
• Nerdy, clumsy and oblivious to his surroundings. Think Marcy from Amphibia.
• Knowledge about many subjects, especially science and history, and will info dump when team Avatar doesn’t understand some modern concepts.
• In the robotic, chess and science clubs
• Zuke’s best and only friend.
• Avid lover of anime and DnD. Often a dungeon master in these games.
• Good at lip reading
• The trio would end up in the Avatar world like this: While waiting for a bus to take them to summer camp, one would find a mysterious box. When Zuke opens the box, they find themselves in the Avatar world, but Zuke and Tammy are separated from Carl.
• The siblings would meet team Avatar when Sokka got trapped in a snare trap they put up as defense to their hideout.
• Katara and Sokka are wary of them at first, but Aang is more trusting so they join the Avatar group.
• They would eventually reunite with Carl at General Fong’s base. Turns out Carl had been transported there and helped the army hold off the Fire Nation with guerilla warfare tactics. He would travel with team Avatar after the Avatar state incident.
• Zuke’s abilities:
  • Throw fire disks
  • Blast fire
  • Shoot concentrated blasts or “bullet” of fire like a gun
  • Fly by propelling himself up with fire blast from his hand and feet
  • Unintentionally, creates a lightning shield when protecting Tammy then later can do it intentionally.
• Zuke has no fire bending training, but as kids he and Carl would try to have him mimic the moves from “Kai: Fire masters.” 
• Tom also taught Zuko metal welding, so Zuko can weld and cut metal with fire bending. Useful when breaking into or out of metal structure, such as a Fire nation prison.
• Later, when the group travels with Toph, Zuke meets a strange but familiar man who teaches him lightning bending
• Tammy doesn’t start out as a fighter, and fights with a club-like stick first. 
• Later moves on to a metal pipe she gets from a fire nation vessel.
• Carl knows jujutsu and has some military training from the Earth kingdom army.
