Work Text:
“So this is it?” Clover lifted their head slightly, locking eyes with the golden flower in front of them.
“All that work just to become another cog in the machine?” Their head dropped again, with a small smile.
“Heh, you’ve grown so predictable!” Flowey gazed at the human, an indefinable emotion behind his soulless eyes and saccharine smile.
“I could undo all of this right now but… Maybe you’ve earned your rest.” He sighed. “After all, there’s always another.”
…
“Can’t say it’s been fun so… I suppose this is where we part ways.” Clover weakly reached out to touch Flowey with a pale hand.
Flowey wrapped a vine gently around Clover’s hand, setting it back to lay on their chest.
“Oh who am I kidding?” he inhaled,
“Until we meet again… friend.”
Clover let out a shaky breath, letting their eyes slip closed. Flowey looked away, before vanishing into the ground.
