I wanna be touched, be loved
I wanna heal, be hugged
It's just the two of us
Or that's what we swore

After the incident with New York City, and his failed plans for world domination, he thought he really finally would be executed (which he was sure Odin had been looking forward to for some time now). Or worse, imprisoned for the rest of his life, as Odin had initially said.
But no.
Of course, it would be worse. Of course Odin would manage to think up something worse and more humiliating than the situation already was, Loki thought bitterly. That was just how it was.
Not execution, or a life's imprisonment. No. Exile.
The same way Thor had been exiled.
Except, all Odin said was, "When you have learned your lesson, you will be brought back to Asgard."
And Nine Realms knows how long that could take. After all, he wasn't exactly in Odin's good books, and getting into them or gaining his favour or pity had proven to be near impossible, if the past 1000 or so years of his life were anything to go by.
Odin nodded at the guards. "Take him to the Bifrost."
The two guards beside him pulled on the chains, which were connected to a collar around his neck, forcing him to move as they escorted him out of the palace.
The guards simply left him there, where Heimdall was waiting. He didn't say anything, but Loki could feel his gaze burning into his back.
"Must you stare?" He asked, feeling irritated and slightly paranoid. "This is humiliating enough without your judgement."
Heimdall said nothing.
Not that Loki had expected him to.
Soft footsteps sounded and he turned to see Odin walking towards them.
"Come to banish me personally, father?" He mocked. "I thought this wouldn't be worth your precious time to handle yourself."
"That's enough," Odin said, and he fell silent.
"You brought this upon yourself, and you will be punished for your crimes."
"My crimes," he scoffed bitterly.
He continued as if he hadn't spoken. "If it were not for your mother, you would not be alive. Consider this a mercy."
"A mercy," he repeated in disbelief. "And what happens once I've 'learned my lesson'?"
"You will return."
Return. As if it were ever as simple as that. "And how, pray, will you know when I've learned this lesson?"
He didn't respond but turned to nod at Heimdall.
The last thing he saw was a flash of brilliant white light as he fell.

Nico rolled his eyes, the corner of his lips twitching as he watched Will ramble on about something related to Star Wars (he had stopped listening a few minutes ago). Annabeth and Jason were watching with raised eyebrows, and while they didn’t say anything they were clearly amused.
Suddenly, his eyes caught on a flash of light that could’ve been mistaken for lightning, if it weren’t inside of the camp’s borders. Nico frowned. It was right above Thalia’s pine tree.
He put a hand over Will’s mouth, effectively shutting him up mid-rant.
“What’s that?” He asked, ignoring Will’s spluttering.
Annabeth was already moving towards Half-Blood hill. “I don’t know, let’s find out.”
He watched as Jason and Will moved to follow her. “This is a bad idea,” Nico said to no one in particular and sighed. A squirrel on a nearby tree stared at him, like no shit, Sherlock. He scowled back and followed the others.
As he neared the hill, he could see a perfectly circular, burnt patch of grass, with an intricate design burned inside of the circle. It was a few feet in diameter, and looked like absolutely nothing he had ever seen before.
“What the actual hell is that?” He asked.
“That’s a good question,” Annabeth replied. “These definitely aren’t any symbols I know of. And they’re not Greek either.”
“Or Latin,” Jason added.
Well, that narrowed it down a lot. (Note the sarcasm.)
“Nico? Do you recognize these?” It was Will.
Nico raised an eyebrow. “The two smartest people in both camps just said that they had no clue what this is, and you’re asking…me?”
Will rolled his eyes. “Yes, dumbass, because despite what you think, you’re actually pretty smart. Not that you act like it,” he added unhelpfully.
Nico opened his mouth to retort when Annabeth cut them both off. “Alright, shut up, both of you. This is serious. If something got inside the camp’s border-”
A snap of a twig silenced her. Nico glanced around, noticing a small cluster of short trees at the base of Half-Blood hill. As he narrowed his eyes, he could’ve sworn he noticed a silhouette.
“There,” Nico said, pointing at the trees.
They all walked to the base of the hill. There was a moment of silence, and before Nico could even blink, a figure lunged out of the trees - straight towards Will. Will let out a yell of surprise as his arms were pinned behind his back and a knife was held to his throat. In fact…it was Will’s knife. The one that he always carried around.
The stranger was average height, with dark wavy hair falling up to his shoulders. His eyes were the greenest Nico had ever seen, making Percy’s eyes seem blue compared to the stranger’s. Not to mention the odd, stylish clothing, and -
Hold on.
Were those… chains?
Around the stranger’s neck was a metal collar with intricate designs carved into the metal. Odd and slightly disturbing as that was, Nico could accept that as…interesting jewelry taste. The handcuffs with the chains linked to the collar, however, raised some questions. Disturbing questions.
They definitely weren’t jewelry. This guy was either insane or had broken out of a prison.
Yeah…that still didn’t explain the burnt circle of grass.
Those unnerving green eyes were burning with hatred.
“Who are you, and where am I?” He snarled, pressing the tip of the knife against Will’s throat.
Annabeth took a slow step forward, keeping her hands visible. She was still holding her sword, but in the most non-threatening way possible. “My name is Annabeth Chase, this is Nico, Jason, and the guy you’re holding is Will. Please, just…let him go, and drop the weapon.”
The guy seemed to ignore her request as his grip on the knife tightened. Nico tensed as he pressed it harder against Will’s skin. His hand automatically went for his sword, but a warning look from Annabeth stopped him.
“Where am I?” Green Eyes repeated.
“You’re in Camp Half-Blood. Long Island Sound, New York.”
Green Eyes faltered at her words, and his grip on Will loosened, enough for him to spring away from him. But the stranger barely seemed to notice. “New York?”
“Yeah, it’s a big city, with skyscrapers, and really famous-” Jason started.
“Yes, I’m aware of what New York City is,” Green Eyes said coldly.
Will was standing next to Nico now, and he resisted the urge to put a protective arm around him.
“Who are you, exactly?” Nico asked him, his tone equally cold.
Green Eyes focused on him. “Someone who doesn’t want to be here,” he replied.
Nico rolled his eyes. “Yeah, I gathered that. Can we get a, you know, name? ”
He glared at them for a moment. “Loki.”
“What?” Jason asked, and his tone was suddenly guarded. Annabeth tensed as well.
Green Eyes - Loki - rolled his eyes. “You asked for my name. It’s Loki.”
“Why are you in chains?” Nico asked.
He gripped the knife tighter. “That is none of your concern. And I assure you, I can fight just as well with my hands cuffed as I can without them.”
Nico exchanged a glance with the others. He definitely wasn’t warming up.
“Well, considering that you appeared out of nowhere and this is our home,” Annabeth started. “Yes, I’d say it concerns us.”
The guy said nothing, instead scowling at the ground.
Annabeth sighed. “Well, since you got to the border without an issue…I guess-” she gestured towards the camp.
“Annabeth,” Jason cautioned. “Is that…really a good idea?”
“What other option do we have? Chiron needs to hear about this. And Mr. D, but mostly Chiron.” She pointed out. Her eyes flickered to the chains. “And maybe we could get you out of those chains. They look super uncomfortable.”
Chapter 3: - CHAPTER THREE -
Summary:
Chiron’s smile didn’t falter at his cold tone. “No, but I know of you. We’ve never met in person, of course. Your father and I had connections.”
“He is not my father,” Loki snapped, and Annabeth was taken aback by the amount of sheer anger and loathing in his voice.
Chiron’s eyebrow twitched upwards. “I see. Well, that’s not what I remember from my last visit. You were hanging on to his every word, following him and your brother around everywhere.”
His hands were clenched tightly, knuckles white. “Things change,” he responded coldly.
“You have siblings?” Jason said in surprise.
“I do not.”
Jason raised a confused eyebrow (which mirrored Annabeth's own thoughts. Hadn't Chiron just mentioned a brother-?), eyes flickering between Chiron and Loki, but he didn’t push the topic any further.

He had been silent since they entered the Big House.
He didn’t say a word.
Not a single one.
Will, being the healer, had tried to ask him about any injuries, but he brushed him off, scowling at the ground. (Which was kind of rude, if you asked Annabeth. He had threatened Will, after all, and yet the demigod in question was still offering to help.)
Nico appeared with Chiron, who had a puzzled expression that was immediately replaced with something close to recognition and resignation. He walked - strutted - up to them, but Loki still didn’t look up, choosing to focus on the floor. Annabeth was starting to worry that the carpet would burn from the intensity of his gaze.
Chiron sighed and tapped on the chains, which fell away with ease, like they were made from styrofoam and not iron.
The guy finally looked up, watching as the chains fell away. He massaged his wrists, which were slightly red, no doubt from the lack of blood circulation, and scowled. Wow. Was that his only expression?
Chiron smiled wryly. “Still not used to saying thank you, I see.”
He frowned. “Do I know you?” He asked stiffly.
Chiron’s smile didn’t falter at his cold tone. “No, but I know of you. We’ve never met in person, of course. Your father and I had connections.”
“He is not my father ,” Loki snapped, and Annabeth was taken aback by the amount of sheer anger and loathing in his voice.
“Well, Annabeth, I trust you and your friends will be able to get him settled in?” Chiron asked, though it wasn’t really a question. She nodded.
“I’m sure we can manage,” Annabeth agreed.
Chiron stood up, smiling pleasantly, although it looked a bit forced. “Well, then, I’ll leave you to it. I have a meeting to attend about weeds- exciting stuff,” he assured, before strutting out of the Big House.
There was a long stretch of awkward silence with everyone exchanging glances, not knowing what to say. Finally, Annabeth broke the silence, clearing her throat.
“Well, we should get going. The camp’s pretty big, and lunch is in an hour, so you don’t want to miss that,” she added, trying to lighten the tense atmosphere. Loki frowned, but nodded.
Well, it was a start. He followed them out of the Big House. As Nico volunteered to go get Percy, Piper and Leo, Annabeth decided to try questioning him.
“So…why were you in chains, exactly?” She asked carefully. “I’m assuming they weren’t just a fashion statement.”
For a moment, Annabeth thought that he wouldn’t respond, and from Jason’s expression, neither did he, but he scowled and relented. “As a security measure.”
That raised a few more disturbing questions. “A security measure…You mean, you were, um…captured?”
“Something like that.”
“For what, if I may ask?”
“You may not,” came the sarcastic reply. Alright. Rude, cold, and sarcastic.
“Come on,” Jason interjected. “You crash landed our camp, and you say you were captured . I think we have a right to know what we’re getting ourselves into. We deserve to know if you’re a criminal.”
He pressed his lips together at the word criminal. Annabeth could sense that it was a touchy subject, and as much as she respected boundaries, she agreed with Jason. They had a right to know what kind of situation they were getting themselves into, and how dangerous it was.
“I was captured for my… crimes. ” He said reluctantly.
“Crimes,” she echoed. “What kind of crimes are we talking about, exactly-?” Before she could finish her question, Nico marched back to them with Percy, Piper and Leo following him with confused expressions. The confusion was replaced by surprise upon seeing Loki.
“Who’s this?” Percy and Leo asked in unison.
Piper remained silent, but she was studying Loki intently.
Annabeth cleared her throat, not sure how to explain. “Did Nico tell you about what happened?”
“He said ‘there was this lightning thing that left a huge burnt circle on the ground and there’s this guy who fell out of it and tried to murder Will and now we have to show him around’,” Piper interjected, and Annabeth shot Nico an unimpressed look. “Which doesn’t really explain anything.”
Nico shrugged at her look.
“Alright, well, Jason, Nico and Will can show our new friend around,” Annabeth said, shooting Nico a warning look when he opened his mouth to protest.
She grabbed Percy’s and Leo’s arms and gestured for Piper to follow as she pulled them a little way away.
“What’s going on?” Piper asked, sounding a little concerned. “Who is he? And what was the lightning thing Nico was going on about?”
Annabeth rubbed a hand over her eyes. “It’s complicated. I’m not too sure either.” She quickly filled them up on the events of the previous hour. When she was finished, there was a stunned silence as they all absorbed this information.
“What did you say this guy’s name was again?” Percy asked.
Annabeth pressed her lips together. “Loki.”
Leo looked up, his hands stilling from where they had been twisting wires together. “You mean, like the Norse God?”
“Well…it would be possible, wouldn’t it? A year ago we didn’t know the Roman gods or demigods existed.” She pointed out.
“Yeah, but isn’t he, like, the bad guy ?” Leo said. “From what I’ve heard, the dude is the embodiment of evil. He kills for fun.”
Piper shot him a curious look. “How do you know that?”
“I know my mythology,” Leo replied, slightly offended. Annabeth cut in before they could start arguing about that.
“I know about his reputation. So we have to be careful. I don’t trust him. He’s hiding something, I can feel it,” she said, agreeing with Leo’s previous statement. “And Chiron obviously knows who he is, but he asked us to show him around so he must think that he’s not dangerous. Or he knows something that we don’t.”
“He definitely knows something we don’t,” Percy chimed in.
Annabeth shot him a scathing look. “Yes, thank you for the optimism, Percy. Incredibly motivational.”
He smiled cheekily. “Welcome.”
She rolled her eyes and turned back to the other two. “So anyway, like I was saying, we have to keep an eye on him. Maybe talk to him, get him to open up. Just don’t put him and Nico in the same room. That will not go well. They’re already on pretty bad terms.”
Leo whistled. “Hey, this guy and di Angelo are starting to sound awfully similar, don’t you think? They even wear similar colours.”
Annabeth and Piper exchanged a glance, exasperated, but Percy’s eyes lit up.
“Oh my gods, you’re right,” he exclaimed.
Leo grinned. “How long do you say it’ll take before they explode at each other?”
“I say…before tomorrow night.”
Leo scoffed. “Pfft. Boring . I say before tonight.”
“Guys,” Annabeth said sternly. “We really don’t want that. Nico’s already pissed about Will. And Loki’s not exactly, um…the nicest out there. I don’t want to be within a mile’s radius if those two go at each other.”
“Come on Annie,” Leo said playfully. “You can’t tell me you don’t want to see that happening.”
Annabeth rolled her eyes, though secretly she had to admit that she kind of did want to see what would happen if Nico and Loki got into a disagreement. Just out of curiosity, not that she would admit it to Leo.
“I don’t think that would end very well,” Piper noted. “So, let’s…not provoke them?”
She nodded in agreement. “You’re right. Let’s not.”
She shot a pointed look at the boys.
They both raised their hands in surrendering gestures.
She sighed. “Alright, let’s get back to the others before someone dies.”

Summary:
“You don’t look all that interested,” Jason noted.
“I’m not.”
“Oh.” Jason looked around awkwardly. “You know, when we get new campers, they’re usually either very shocked, scared, confused, or they just don’t believe us. You’re not…any of those.”
“Yes. I already know about the Greek and Roman gods.”
“Yeah, no shit,” Nico muttered. Loki raised an eyebrow at the response. Nico turned to face him. “Tell me, who are you?”
“I already told you who I am.”

After Annabeth left, Jason, Will, and Nico (who looked very unwilling to be there) lead the ‘tour’. Really, he wasn’t very interested, although the lava wall made him raise an eyebrow (What kind of camp had a lava wall?). Not many people were around, and the few that were didn’t pay them any attention. Along the way, Jason had begun to explain the camp, Greek and Roman gods, and something about two wars.
Yes.
Very interesting.
“And these are the, um, strawberry fields,” Jason said, sounding a little unsure. “Dude, are you listening?”
Loki frowned. “Yes.”
“Yes, your name. But that doesn’t explain who you are or why you landed in our camp or how Chiron knew you. Who are you, really?”
Loki’s spine stiffened. “You’re going to have to be a little more specific than that.”
Nico rolled his eyes. “You say you’re Loki. Loki, as in the Norse god of mischief, trickery, and lies?”
“And if I were?”
“I’ve read about you,” Will chimed in quietly. “You’re literally like the Kronos in Norse mythology. They say you’ve killed thousands and thousands of people within a few days.”
Loki ignored some twinge of emotion that rose to the surface at his words. “What are you saying?”
“Is it true?” Will asked.
Nico and Jason were watching him expectantly.
“Yes,” he replied evenly. “It is.”
“Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t you try to take over New York?” Nico added.
“I failed,” Loki replied bluntly.
“That’s not really the point. Do you know how many people died?” Nico shot.
“I’ve been made aware.”
“And- You don’t feel anything? No regrets? No guilt? Nothing?”
Loki scowled at the ground, kicking at a stray pebble in his path so that it tumbled down the sloped path. “And if I told you that I didn’t?”
“I’d say you were a monster,” Nico responded quietly. “A heartless one.”
He smiled bitterly. “I expect nothing less.”
“Why did you do it? Why did you try to- to take over New York?” Will asked again, and this time he looked genuinely curious.
“I was just bringing truth to the lie I had been told my whole life.”
“And what is that?”
“That I was born to be king.”
“So, that’s what it was about? Greed? A thirst for power?” Jason said, and although he wasn’t hostile, he didn’t sound too thrilled.
“Yes. Yes, I suppose it was,” he muttered, though he knew very well that that was only half of the story.
“Just like every other villain in history,” Nico murmured, and Loki had a feeling that the words were not meant for him to hear. He felt an odd pull of something in his chest, but he shoved it down. He didn’t give two shits about what these people thought. He was only here temporarily, anyway.
Luckily for him - or unluckily, depending on how you looked at it - Annabeth and the three others (who Loki didn’t know the names of) were walking up to them. The two boys were eyeing him with an almost interest, and he scowled at them and looked away.
He wasn't in the mood to deal with more bullshit.

"I don't get it, there's something off about him," Will rambled. "I can sense something, but I don't know what it is!"
"Maybe it's the so-called immortality?" Nico suggested.
"No! Besides, Mr. D's immortal, and I don't sense anything like that from him."
"You sure it's not the murder?" He asked skeptically.
Will shot him an exasperated look
"Alright, alright, I'll stop." Nico watched Will pace back and forth across the Hades Cabin for a few more minutes.
"I'm gonna go talk to him," Will declared suddenly, making his way towards the door.
"Woah, hold up," Nico said, getting up and blocking the door. "You're gonna go talk to him? Loki? The guy who tried to kill you?"
Will frowned. "He didn't try to kill me, he just-"
"Threatened you? Yeah, same thing. What if he tries something like that again?"
"It'll be fine," Will assured him, reaching out to grasp the door handle.
"No, no, no. Absolutely not. It hasn't even been a day since he crash landed. You have plenty of time to figure out what he's hiding and satisfy your medical brain," Nico said sternly.
Will started to argue but snapped his mouth shut when Nico's arm grazed his waist.
He glared at him. "Damn it, fine. But only because you're-"
"If you say cute, I will kill you myself."
"-...gorgeous."
