“Killing is for adults and you are still a child”
Those are the words he had spoken to his former mentor's son. Alex Rider followed in his father's and uncle’s footsteps at such a young age. I wonder why he would go into this so young. Was it a thirst for revenge or curiosity? Hopefully, this experience has ended his interest in this field. It would be good if I never saw him again but I can’t say I don’t wish to see what he could become with the right training. He has the brains and personality to become a fascinating operative wherever he ends up if he stays in this world.
There are new stories of a young operative involved in point blank. I already know it is Alex just from the reports even without a name. These are not small missions MI6 should not be sending a boy on suicide missions. I wonder if Alex knows that they are labeled suicide missions. I’ve decided to investigate how MI6 got him in these missions.
They are blackmailing the boy. He is too young and still allows attachments that can be used against him. If I see him again I will train him myself as MI6 hasn’t properly trained the boy.
Another mission this time was in my home country. He has now been involved with the CIA which means more power-hungry people to watch for. Joe Byrne may seem better than Blunt but a majority of that is because he acts, unlike Blunt. The death of his guardian at the hands of the triad means that MI6 no longer has and reigns on him. I wonder what he will do with his new free rope. However, he is probably not as sane as he was when I first met him as his guardian was the last parental figure he had.
I see him. At the moment, I am in Montpellier. He noticed me already. His instincts are good, but not good enough yet. He is trailing me and the two men I am with. With how this is seeming to pan out I may have to kill these two men. They will want to kill Alex and I will not help them with that. His talent and instincts are there and impressive but they are completely unrefined. If he continues in this field with these half-formed skills and habits he will die.
He seems to have left. Very smart of him however I shall tail him now to see why he is here at all. The father of his friend is the target of my mission it seems. It seems there will be a change of plans. After all, Cray didn’t pay that well anyway but I can’t have a fail on my record so I shall just have to kill Cray and cut my losses. Getting to train Alex should be more than enough consolation for this small monetary loss. With that though I head off to take care of Cray and my two associates that are here with me. They were all almost laughably easy to kill. Cray’s death has been pinned on a heart attack and the bodies of the two others I was with will never be found. Now however it is time to get Alex. A simple tranquilizer dart should do.
He is waking up. “Good afternoon Alex”
He jerks awake, “Where am I? Why am I here? Yassen,” he says my name with more disdain than I thought him capable of. “What do you want?” he asked.
“What I want Alex is to train you. After all, MI6 hasn’t and you have nothing to lose. That and you should be grateful I just saved you”
“And why would you help me? Nothing is free so what do you want.”
I decide to answer him candidly. “Your father is the one that trained me.”
“You killed Ian! Why did his relation to my dad not matter then?” He is getting louder and louder.
“Because you are a child and his son. Your uncle made his decision, Alex.”
“What did he do to you?!” He asks close to yelling
“Nothing he was a mission that is all” I comment coolly “Now do you want my training or not?”
“Yes” he responds dejectedly “I need all the chances and training I can get”
“Good” I respond. “Your training starts now.”
Over the next few weeks, I trained him how to walk silently, blend with the shadows, instinctive shooting, identify and use poisons, And be a sniper. I’ve come to realize that I will surprisingly miss his company once this training ends.
“This is your last test. These are the people who killed Jack Starbright. Your mission is to kill them. Here are the blueprints I will be watching, but you’re on your own.”
I’ve given him plenty of information. He should do fine. I trained him well he should not fail.
He passed.
“I suppose you ready to leave now, Alex” I feel a small hint of sadness.
“No” he answered, “ I don’t have any family left so I think I’ll stay.”
“Are you sure you want this life?” I only asked because I don’t wanna deal with it if he regrets it later and blames me.
“ I’m sure” he replies confidently “So where are we going next?”
Comes to my face “Wherever pays best”
We finished a couple of jobs before I decided to take him to Malagosto.
“Remember everyone on this island can and will with the right motivation kill you” I want to make sure he remembers this.
“Yes, yes, I know you’ve said it about 1000 times” Alex replies seemingly exasperated.
“Hopefully, you’ll remember then” I reply. Alex does not seem to be the best at following orders that are meant to keep him safe.
“Most importantly stay away from Rothman and Yu”
“Why them specifically?” Alex ask
“... Because Yu is overly obsessed with everything British, and Rothman is insane and hates your father” Hopefully that will make Alex think twice.
“Cheery” he replies sarcastically.
“We are here. Behave.”
Dr. Three has come to greet us “ Yassen how good to see you and your new apprentice too.”
“How are you, doctor?” Dr. Three is one of the bearable people on this island. A little insane but at least logical unlike most of the others
“I am doing well I hope you're staying on the island goes well Yassen” Dr. Three headed towards his office and passed the Nile.
“Who is that?” Alex asks
“Nile, he was second in his class and then taken in by Rothman. Most definitely not good at anything undercover. His skin condition makes him very recognizable, and his swords are not very subtle”
“I think that is the point” Alex replies
“Most likely it is” Nile may do his job well but his lack of subtlety is quite annoying “Now for the reason, we’re here. I’ve gotten a message regarding a new mission. We need three people so I have decided to use Nile because well he is completely unsubtle. He can at least complete his job.”
“What’s the job?” Alex inquires.
“Killing Alan Blunt” I answer with glee. Once we get to the Nile, we leave for our destination.
“I picked this time specifically because he is visiting a base in the jungle. A very rare change to his normal routine. He will be completely vulnerable. Alex and I will be in charge of taking out his guards with sniper fire. Nile, your job is to put a sword through him and make sure he’s dead”
