Plot: Castle and Beckett are having a relaxing evening when robbers break into their loft demanding things. How will the situation play out?
--
Castle had just opened the loft door when he felt a crack in his jaw as he fell to the ground. He doesn't remember what he said to his wife, but all he remembers is screaming to her. He clutched his face as the pain radiated through him. The stars behind his eyes settled as he looked up at the three masked men rushing into their loft.
He tried to get up, but was pushed back down by a fourth man. He is face down on the ground when he hears Kate scream. His heart pounding with both adrenaline and fear. He shoves himself up and goes to run for her, but is instead grabbed by the arms and pulled back by one of the intruders.
He hears her scream again and uses all of his strength to try and break free in order to get to her. But he can't. He feels hot tears sliding down his cheeks as his wife is pulled out of their bedroom by two men. She is putting up a hell of a fight but these men are stronger.
He watches in agony as she is thrown to the ground. She cries out and meets his teary eyes with her own.
Kate stares the masked men down as they mumble something to each other and laugh darkly. Kate moves to get up when one of them pulls out a gun.
Her PTSD has been almost nonexistent over the past years after working through and overcoming her painful and traumatic memories. Especially after dedicating her main time and energy on her and Rick's three children, who thankfully, are not home.
So when she stares down the barrel of a gun it surprises her that she feels her breath hitch more than normal. Kate cowers back down and turns her vision away from the gun and toward her husband. She watches as Rick too tries to get up, if only to go over to her. A gun is pulled out from a different man and pointed at him.
Kate cries out and the gun pointed at her inches closer. She whines as she places her forehead in her hands.
The husband and wife both look up when they hear someone descending the stairs. This man, as well as the other three are all wearing disturbed masks.
The one who had just descended the stairs looks through his red demon mask and between the couple.
"Is anyone else home." He demands.
Kate and Rick both shake their heads, but this man seems displeased with their lack of verbal response. He pulls out a gun from his waistband and now two are pointed at Rick.
Kate cries out and tries to crawl over to him but a man with a pale white mask and sharp rubber teeth grabs her from behind and lifts her up against him. Kate cries out again, in surprise and fear.
"Is. Anyone. Else. Home." The red demon repeated.
"No! No!" Rick cried out, "No one else! Just please—put her down!"
The red demon man throws a nod to the white masked man and he drops Kate to the floor, lowering his gun as well. She lets out a cry when her knees connect with the hardwood.
"Check them for phones." The red demon commands the others. A man with a sickly green mask stalks over to Rick and feels all of his pockets. The white masked man bends down by a cowering Kate. He can visibly see no pockets on her oversized t-shirt, but he feels her anyway. Rick shouts out to the man but he continues with Kate.
The green masked man throws Rick's phone against the hardwood floor and stomps it to pieces. The red demon masked man slowly approaches Kate and bends down to her level.
"Where's your phone?" He asks slowly and darkly.
Kate whimpers and her response is mumbled.
"Huh? I can't quite hear you." He takes out his gun and points it back at Rick.
Kate cried out in a broken voice, "The bedroom! It's-it's in the bedroom! Just please, please stop."
"Go." The white mask throws a nod at a man in a black mask. He goes into the bedroom and the rest of them are tense in the wait. While Kate waits for the man to come back with her phone she berates herself, she should be better than this, she says to herself, stronger.
After a minute of so the black masked man comes out with her phone. He throws the phone and smashes it the way the green masked man did.
"What do you want?" Rick asks desperately.
"That's a loaded question." The red masked man smiles.
"Why? Who are you?"
"Me? You can call me Anton." The red demon masked man now has a name.
"Why are you here!" Rick shouts out.
Anton frowns and gives a nod to the white masked man. He bends down and picks up Kate, pinning her back against him with one hand over her stomach and the other over her throat. Rick rushes to get up but the sickly green masked man stops him. Anton approaches Kate and runs his eyes up and down her. Kate whimpers when he gathers a piece of her hair and twirls it in his fingers. She forces herself to replace her fear with a rage filled glare.
"What do you think, Rick? Why are we here? There could be plenty of reasons." Anton throws a glance to Kate.
"Let her go." Rick pleads.
"But what if we're here for her? Hm?"
"Then take me instead."
"Nah." Anton grins as he pulls out a pocket knife from the back of his jeans. He opens it and slides it lightly over Kate's cheek. She lets out a sob.
"Let her go!" Rick manages to shove the green mask man off of him and runs to Kate. Anton is quicker and grabs Kate himself and places the knife at her throat. Kate closes her eyes.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk. Ricky, I'm disappointed in you. You should know better with all those crime books you write. What would you say happens next?"
"I'm sorry, please. Don't hurt her!" Rick begs, dropping to his knees, "Please!"
"Well, since you asked so nicely." Anton smirks and throws Kate to the side.
Anton catches the white masked man staring intently at the skin showing now that Kate's oversized shirt is out of place.
Kate quickly shoves it over her lower half but everyone has already seen.
"Dex!" Anton called. The pale white mask is now Dex.
"I was just looking." Dex defends.
"We're not here to look! We're here to be in and out."
"Sorry." Dex shrugs casting one more glance at Kate.
Kate glances over to Rick and senses his small step closer to her. She quickly and discreetly shakes her head. It's not safe, she seems to tell him.
Rick wants to launch himself at Dex and his stupid white mask. But he resists for Kate. He knows that Anton would use Kate to hurt him.
"If you're here to get something and get out, what do you want? I'll give it to you." Rick pleads.
"Oh Ricky, thinking everything is about you. What if we want something from your precious wife? Will she give it to us?"
"Just tell us what you want!" Rick takes a slight step forward towards Anton.
"Ah ah, hold it Ricky." Anton instantly positions his gun towards Kate. Rick freezes and retreats, "Good boy." Anton laughs.
"Can we just get done already?" The green masked man groans.
"Hey!" Anton chastises, "You wanted in on this Baron. Don't be a pussy with the foreplay."
"Whatever." Baron raises his hands and goes off into Rick's office to snoop through his things.
"Forgive him, he's the baby of the group. Always needing to do something, be somewhere." Anton talks as if a casual conversation is appropriate in a situation like this.
"What do you want?" Kate tries. Her tear stained cheeks make Rick's heart break when he looks over as she speaks.
"A couple of things. Valuables, electronics, anything worth money."
"If you wanted things worth money you would have started taking them already. If you wanted electronics you wouldn't have smashed our phones." Kate glares.
"Wow, you do got some spunk in you. Where was that a little bit ago? Does it only come out when there isn't a gun pointed at your precious husband?"
"Why are you here?" She repeats her anger simmering right below.
"Where do you keep your gun? Your badge? Your mothers ring, your fathers watch?"
"The gun and badge are in the safe in the bedroom."
"And your mother's ring?"
"Why do you want that?"
Anton shrugs and walks closer, "Is your fathers watch with your mother's ring?"
"Why do you want them." Kate demands.
"Where are they."
"You're not taking them." Kate glares with a hard set jaw. Anton laughs and motions towards the black demon masked man and he stalks towards Rick and punches him in the jaw. Rick is strong but the force knocks him to the floor. Kate cries out and tries to stand to go over to her husband. Kate feels the green masked man, Baron, grab her from behind. She screams at him to let her go as she kicks out her legs.
"Rick!"
"Kate, I'm fine. I promise." Rick groans out as he slowly rocks back and forth, seemingly dizzy.
"Put me down!" Kate thrashes.
Baron drops her and she grunts.
"What's the code to the safe?" Anton asks Kate, bending down to her level. Kate sees his brown eyes through the mask and flares into them. Anton takes his gun and without looking points it backwards aimed at Rick.
"Stop!" Kate yells, trying to grab Anton's arm. He's too quick.
"The code."
"3274."
"Good girl." Anton pulls his gun back and brushed a piece of hair behind Kate's ear. Already the black masked man is in the office, crossing through to the bedroom.
Kate swallows.
"That better be the code, Kate. Or Ricky here is going to lose a kneecap." Anton laughs and Kate can practically see his wicked grin.
There are a couple beats of silence.
"Is it there Swanson!" Anton calls out.
A second passes and then Swanson, who wears the black demon mask, comes out twirling Kate's gun as well as his own.
"Was the badge there?"
"Yes. Got it right here." Swanson switches both guns to one one hand and pulls Kate's badge out of his pocket.
Anton turns around and hands Swanson his gun and takes Kate's police one instead. He then slowly makes his way over and crouches in-front of Rick and puts the gun point blank against his forehead.
Kate screams. "No! Stop!"
"You see Kate," Anton says, his gun still up against Rick's head, "We're gonna stage a little murder-suicide. You, are going to shoot your dear old husband. The reason is up for interpretation. However, you then proceed to kill yourself so no one will ever know."
"No!"
"Try me." Anton dares.
Kate remains still and her eyes lock with her husband's. The gun is still steadily trained on him and she was to be anywhere with him but here.
"What? Scared?" Anton chuckles.
"I can't try you when a gun is pointed at my husband."
"Fair point." Anton hands his gun to Dex who puts it in his waistband.
Kate takes a few slow breaths, "No one will believe a murder suicide. It's not anywhere near a reasonable assumption. Our friends, our colleagues, they won't believe it. So what are you trying to get out of this? What are you so desperate to get that you would attempt something this sloppy?"
Anton seems to mull over her words. He knows she is right and it upsets him. He hears his accomplices murmuring behind him, the seed of doubt has been planted. He looks at his 'teammates' and then to Rick and Kate and feels a new plan.
"You're right, alright. Maybe I got too sloppy. How about a break in? Targeting those who think they're better than everyone else? Making them watch their wife be raped and killed, only to then feel the sweet relief of death."
Silence falls over the loft. The nervous swallow of Kate is heard. Rick stutters out a quiet gasp.
Anton takes one step towards Kate, who takes one backwards. She sees Anton nod and suddenly harsh arms are wrapped around her waist. She cries out and Rick jumps to his feet before being held down by two of the intruders.
"Maybe I'll let Dex have fun with you. He seems a little excited after catching a glimpse of your bottom half."
Kate realizes that Dex is the one holding her. She panics and begins kicking more frantically. She can already feel him hard against her back. Rick is trying to get out of the firm grasp both his arms are in when Swanson departs from him and he and Dex wrestle Kate to the ground. Dex is straddling Kate and Swanson is above her pinning her arms down.
"Please! No! Stop!" Rick cries out as Dex slowly raises Kate's oversized shirt. Castle is now on his knees with Baron aiming a gun at his temple.
Kate closes her eyes and turns her head. She squeezes them shut but can't escape.
"You're right, Kate. This seems better than an old and overused murder/suicide." He smirks.
Dex raises himself the slightest bit to unbuckle his belt and unbutton his pants. Soon he has his hands wrapped around the waistband of Kate's panties and begins to slide them down.
Then the door bursts open. Shouting officers are aiming their guns at the four intruders. Two of them are taken down, but Anton aims his gun at Rick preparing to shoot while Dex has his pants down but a firm hold of Kate against his chest with a gun to her head.
"Put the gun down!" Esposito shouts, making his way through the other uniforms with Ryan by his side. Espo's gun is trained on Kate's attacker while Ryan's is on Rick's.
"No, I don't think we will." Anton taunts as he scoots closer to Dex.
For moments a stare down is happening. The cocking of Anton's gun can be heard. Kate takes her chance of Dex glancing at his leader to drop to the floor and kick his legs out from under him. The commotion gives enough time for Castle to head butt Anton in the nose.
Espo and Ryan quickly rush in and apprehend the two. Castle runs to Kate who is fixing her clothes. Castle meets her eyes and they tearfully hug. They were so close to losing each other.
