Chapter Text
The entire world was in complete chaos and disarray, but that was to be expected when they had all just awoken from a trance. The majority of the world had forgotten about that other reality, and ignored that sense of emptiness that followed, but there was still a rare few whose hold onto that plane still lingered, and they were left in complete confusion. The Justice League could only help so many people, and even then they couldn’t do much to comfort everybody. The most they could do was a speech broadcast to the entire world, but even that would hardly do anything at all. Despite this, the ones who did remember that other reality, were in uproar, demanding vengeance against the witch who had done this to them. A horrible woman indeed, an enemy of the people she was. Unfortunately they were left unsatisfied, as Wonder Woman was the first to announce that Zatanna Zatara was already dead. Some were just glad she was gone and would cause trouble no longer, but an alarming majority still desired some sort of retribution, although there was none to give. Zatanna Zatara was already dead, having been defeated by the Supergirl of Metropolis, and the Last Czarnian, Lobo.
Wonder Woman was also the one to announce the sudden retirement of Lex Luthor, and the lucky hero who would be replacing him. It was none other than herself, and she seemed happy about this decision, although some keen eyed members of the crowd would notice the hero was teary-eyed, and her smile seemed forced. Although it was nothing for anybody to worry about, not when Wonder Woman had just announced the amazing news that the world was finally free of Zatanna Zatara, the Mistress of Magic, the Sorceress Supreme.
After her announcement, Wonder Woman seated herself in her invisible jet, and flew to her Themysciran Embassy. With a delicate spin that she had replicated many times before, Wonder Woman was no more and all that remained was Diana in her peplos. She sat down in her expensive chair facing the large window that overlooked Gateway City, where she looked and pondered. Her eyes could see Metropolis and Gotham from here, but even they could not spot Zatanna. With a quivering lip and a small shaky sigh, she lifted her silver-shackled hands to her face and wept. After only a few seconds, she felt the warm and firm hand of her Kryptonian friend, as he held her shoulder to comfort her. She didn’t look up to greet him, but even she could tell he was crying too...
