Chapter Text
A couple years after the monster and human war, a creature of unknown origin appears out of thin air. This being has a light gray k9 shaped skull and a deep purple jaw. Its eyes are vertical and are colored pink, yellow and blue.
It has long lavender antlers, a long black neck with a deep purple mane, kinky black hair tied in an afro puff, huge front eggplant colored bear paws, strong back lilac hooves and a long ombre purple bushy tail. It stands at a whopping 12 ft tall, with a very curious expression.
It looks around to find itself in a lush forest. Curious, it shifts into a raven and fly's high into the sky. It looks down to see a Mountain in the center of the forest. It soon finds a small rundown town a bit away from the forest. It flies into the town below and lands in the center of it.
It listens as the people talk about the war that ended recently. Monsters were sealed away and the mages went into hiding. Many miss the monsters while others are happy they are gone. The town is lacking food and in need of repair. But the neighboring towns and villages don’t want to trade with them.
They believe them to be cursed so they refuse to help in any way. When night hit the town had quieted as everyone went to sleep. The creature sits and ponders the information they’ve learned. They decide to watch the humans for now and stay in the forest.
After some time the creature starts to get used to this new world. It decides to make the forest its home. Building a nest in a clearing near the base of the mountain. It naturally becomes the protector of the forest.
It continues to fiercely protect the forest and its inhabitants for centuries to come. Killing anything that it deems a threat to its new home. It’s especially aggressive to humans who always seem to forget their place. If the creature has to get rid of a few dozen humans for them to remember… then so be it.
**Years later**
In the year of 2017 the creature is widely known as a forest guardian. No one is allowed to enter its forest without its permission. Many have tried but none have returned. One day a human female appears before the forest. She looked ragged, emaciated and hopeless.
With shaky legs she kneeled in the grass before clasping her hands together. ”I’ve always heard stories of a creature with great power that protects the forest. I know it’s selfish of me to ask but can I please stay here. I have nowhere to go, everything I owned is gone. Everything I've ever loved… Is gone. So please if you're there, If you can hear me please let me stay.”
The beast (unsure at first) decides to let her and keeps an eye on her. At the beginning she didn't allow the human to even get a glimpse of her. But as time goes on she starts to trust her. One day when the human, Lilia, was gathering berries Lilac showed herself.
It was only for a short moment but Lilia finally got to see the forest guardian. Afterwards whenever she’d go out she’d leave gifts for her. If she thought it was near she’d talk to them. She didn’t care that they never responded, she was just happy to have someone to talk to.
After some months they grew closer together. One day the guardian started to hum as Lilia walked through the forest. It was soft and ethereal, Lilia was wondering if she was dreaming when she first heard it. The second time it happened she hummed back. Ever since they’d sing each other lullabies.
Lilia noticed that most animals became calm and docile when she was around. That had never happened before but then she realized it was probably because of the guardian. Recently it has started to follow her everywhere. It even started to show itself more. Lilia was just happy that they were getting closer. She wanted to befriend the creature that was kind enough to let her stay in its home.
Soon the guardian no longer hid its presence from the woman. Lilia later gets a job in the city and is overjoyed. The guardian congratulates her but warns her to be careful. Even if the creature trusted Lilia didn’t mean it trusted humans.
After a mugging incident the guardian starts to become protective of its new companion. It follows her whenever she leaves the forest and keeps guard of her surroundings. It knows how cruel the human species can be and doesn't want to risk losing her. One day while the human was picking flowers a question was asked.
"Miss guardian, I hope you don't mind me asking but what is your name?" Lilia asked while knitting flowers together. "... It's Lilac Raven." The now named creature tells her. It had honestly forgotten about introducing itself. Most beings in this world just call it ‘the guardian’. So it had never had a reason to tell its name.
"Really? What a peculiar name, I like it. Lilac sounds similar to Lilia right?" She says with the happiest smile. Lilac glaces down at the little human for a moment. She then turns her head bashfully.
"Thank u and I guess it does." She responds quietly that Lilia could barely hear her. " No problem and thank you for telling me." Lilia says while handing it the flower reef she made for them.
As time went on one day Lilac felt the presence of a human child in her forest. Already knowing the story of this world it let them be. Not wanting to interfere until the story ended.
____
Today Lilac and Lilia plan to hang out at the park. It's a nice day outside and they want to spend it together. Lilac had to shift into their human form before they left. They had been doing that more often and seemed to like the form.
They appear as a tan skinned human with kinky dark brown hair tied up in a bun. They also have pretty brown eyes and plump lips. She dresses like a modern Morticia which Lilia loves.
They leave at 10:00 am so they can make it to breakfast at their favorite spot. It is a pretty calm and quiet day as most people are at home or at work. They eat their food before going to the park so they wouldn't be harassed by the ducks.
They sit near the lake and stare off into the distance. The sun shining over the lake as the water shimmers is an amazing sight. Lilia couldn’t help but pull out her camera to take a picture. She even took a lovely picture of them sitting together.
"I met someone the other day. He’s really nice, charming, reliable and responsible." Lilia tells Lilac while fidgeting with her camera. "That’s good to hear, is he a new hire?" Lilac asked since it was the first time Lilia brought up someone from work. "Yeah, It’s pretty obvious he likes me too. I don't want to get into another relationship yet though." Lilia says while staring off into the distance.
"Did u tell him that?" Asks Lilac, they are leaning forward as they talk to Lilia. "Yeah, I did. He understood and we’re still hanging out as friends for now.” Lilia smiles slightly while watching a pair of ducks nearby.
Lilac can tell that Lilia already likes him by how she talks about him. She’s happy for her but also worried. "That’s good, just make sure you stay safe ok? I don’t want anything to happen to you." Lilac looks down as she talks so Lilia can’t see her face. "I will, don’t worry too much ok. I know not to trust just anyone." Lilia tries to reassure it but it doesn’t look like it worked much. "Ok." Lilac says with a forced smile.
______
They go to the annual fair near the park and walk around. There are a lot of people hanging around and having fun. They walk up to one of the stalls and grab some cheese dogs and doughnuts. Thankfully there were some tables nearby so they sat down while eating.
They talk about things they could do and decide to go play at the prize counters. Lilia was more interested in winning than Lilac. Lilac only really tried to win when Lilia said she wanted a specific prize. But then Lilac stops at a stall with goldfish. She thought they were pretty but also pitied them. So she won herself two goldfish. She put them in her bag which had a pocket space. Afterwards they played some more games before leaving.
Next they go to the mall and enter Hot Topic. There they buy some things and even pick out some things for each other. Lilia picks an outfit first for Lilac and makes her go try it on. Lilac comes out wearing a black lace collar, gold hanging moon earrings, a purple lace dress with bell sleeves, a black long sleeve cropped shrug, black tights and purple/black platform mary janes.
Lilac then picks something out for Lilia and sends her to the fitting rooms. Lilia comes out wearing a silver pendant necklace, a silver charm bracelet, silver stud earrings, a pink cami long sleeve twofer, a gray pleated skirt, pink thigh highs and gray/white creepers. Lilia squeals happily when she sees herself in the mirror. She then ,in her excitement, runs up to Lilac and hugs her. They then buy everything they have on before heading to the next store.
For a while they just window shop and walk through the mall. They only stop when they come upon a pet shop. They immediately enter the store and excitedly look at all the animals. There were kittens, puppies, guinea pigs, birds, bunnies, ferrets, fishes, spiders, reptiles and many more. Lilac was staring at the kittens while Lilia was looking at the ferrets. Sadly neither of them got a pet but they left feeling happy.
They then decide to head home since it was getting late. It was dark out by the time they made it back to Lilia’s cottage. Lilac gives Lilia a hug before going to her den. There she turns back to her original form. She lays down on her nest and starts to groom herself. When she feels she is done she curls up and then goes to sleep.

Chapter Text
One day Lilac was awoken by a sudden burst of magic. It came out of nowhere and set shivers up her spine. They were a bit worried about how it would affect the environment. Some hours later a large group of creatures start coming down the mountain.
They use one of their familiars (a raven) to figure out what is happening. Through its eyes she sees many monsters being guided down the mountain by a child. ‘Oh… I forgot about them.’ Lilac thinks as she watches them descend the mountain.
When she realizes what's happening she loses interest and goes back to sleep. It later awakens to Lilia shaking them and talking excitedly. Lilia then tells her about the monsters and how they were saved by some kid named Frisk. Lilac listens patiently as Lilia moves and talks animatedly.
It thinks the human is very cute when it gets excited. Lilac gives a slow content blink as she listens to Lilia. She always loves learning about new things and meeting new people. Lilac just knew that Lilia would have at least 2 new friends by the end of the week. Some time later Lilia leaves to get ready for work.
Lilac decides to watch the monsters for a while to make sure nothing happens. She sends her ravens to do the job. She even goes to watch them herself in the form of a black cat. They go to the camp grounds the monsters were currently staying at. There they see that there are some human officers standing guard around the area.
One tries to pet her but she simply walks past them. She goes straight up to Frisk and sits down in front of them before meowing. The little human was a little surprised but immediately got excited. They pick the cat up and go to show their mom. ~Look what I found!~ They sign rapidly to their mother with one hand.
The mother, a goat monster, turns towards their child with a smile. "Hi Frisk, I see you have a cat. Where'd you find it?" The mother asks in a soft and curious tone. ~It came up to me and meowed. I think they like me, can we keep it?~ Frisk asks their mother in a hopeful tone.
"Oh how nice, but sadly my child we can’t. We don't have what we need to take care of it. Now let's go eat, Grillby cooked a nice meal for everyone." Toriel tells Frisk with an apologetic expression. She holds her paw out for Frisk to grab and patiently waits. Frisk pouts a bit before putting Lilac down.
Frisk then grabs Toriel’s paw and waves goodbye to the cat. Toriel walks with Frisk towards a campfire and they grab some food. There were many monsters gathered around eating and talking.
Lilac walks up to one monster and meows while rubbing against their leg. the monster coos before petting it and giving it food. Throughout the night Lilac walks amongst the monsters and gathers any information she could. When it feels like it heard enough it leaves and goes back home.
It spends the rest of the day writing down what it heard in a journal. The next couple of weeks it keeps a watchful eye on the monsters. She dealt with any problems that arose during its surveillance and also kept the humans in check. They did all this while also keeping their identity hidden.
After some time the government and monster rulers had finally come to an agreement. Monsters first were accepted as citizens and then slowly they started to fully get integrated into society.
There of course were some problems, mainly that of racist humans (as usual). But of course monsters were stronger than the average human and could handle themselves. It also helped that Lilac was lurking in the shadows almost everywhere.
After 3 years monsters had a lot of supporters and ironically fans. There were some monsters that the humans flocked towards. Mainly a very optimistic and energetic corpse named Papyrus. Lilac thought he was an interesting creature ever since she first saw him.
It also thought his brother was adorable when they first laid eyes on the drowsy corpse lazily walking closely behind Papyrus. Lilac had to use all the restraint she had to not run up and hug the cute thing.
The more monsters integrated into society the more humanity accepted them. Of course monsters still had areas they couldn't go and areas of their own. One of those places being mount Ebbot which had been claimed by the monster community.
New Home was built at the foot of the mountain. After being told about the mysterious being in the forest the monsters reluctantly pulled back on moving deeper into the forest. Some more monsters also started coming out of the mountain a year after the first group.
Thankfully it didn't hinder their progress much. The rulers of the different monster clans decided to form a council. The tale clan rulers became the heads of the council. After 5 years monsters have successfully integrated into society and have done quite well for themselves. Lilia has also made herself quite the number of trustworthy friends.
Today Lilac had finally decided it's time to stop following Lilia into the city. She's smart and stronger than she looks. She has a lot of people looking out for her and nothing has happened so far.
… If only she had known… none of this would have happened… if only.

Chapter Text
Lilac's POV-
Today was the day Lilia was going to meet a friend for coffee. Afterwards we were planning on hanging out by the lake. There’s a nice shaded place under a willow tree where we can watch the ducks.
Lilia is heading towards her car as I wait by the cottage. "I'll see you in about 2 hours ok." Lilia tells me as she opens her car door. "Ok, stay safe and let me know if there are any changes to our plans." I respond with a tired yawn. Lilia smiles brightly before giving me a big hug. "I’ll see you later, love you and don’t get too bored without me!" Lilia says cheekily as she gets into her car. She then slowly backs out of the driveway.
"Love u too and later!" I call back as she drives down the dirt road. When I no longer hear her car I go to my nest. I then take a nap hoping to sleep until she gets back.
Sadly I only got one hour of sleep so now I have to find something to pass the time. I decided to take a stroll around the forest. I end up getting distracted by a herd of deer. They always amaze me with their beauty and elegance. Their fur looks so soft and pretty.
Without even realizing it an hour had already passed. I take my time getting to her home since I know she’s not going to get back right away. I get there in less than 30 minutes. She's not here, maybe she got held up by traffic. I'll just have to be patient and wait a bit longer. After another hour I start to get antsy and anxious.
'Something's wrong, it's not like her to be this late. Maybe something happened… No, don't think like that. She'll be back, she's just a little late. Just wait a little longer.’
Once another hour passes I couldn't wait any longer. I immediately fly to the city and look for her, even using my familiars for a wider search. It feels like forever but I eventually find her… 'WHAT HAPPENED' There she was laying in a dark alleyway with torn clothes, bruises and cuts. My beautiful angel… laying in such a filthy place with lifeless eyes.
'MY ANGEL' It was as if time stopped as I took in her appearance, carving it into my memory. I then suddenly start to move, taking her in my arms.
A burst of magic comes out of my neck. Red and blue flora of all kinds grow around me covering everything. I didn't notice at first but it was raining.. and I was crying.
'How cliche.' When I calm down I start to investigate what happened. I look at everything, even the memories of every living thing in the alleyway. Sadly I could not look through Lilia’s memories since.. she was gone.
When I had all the info I could find I pick up her body. I carefully walked out of the alleyway right into the street with her in my arms. The rain had slowed to a drizzle and the sky had never looked so beautiful.
'My Lilia, you would have loved this view.' I think as cars jerk to a stop to keep from hitting me. There were so many horns honking, it was too loud, it was annoying. 'SHUT UP' As soon as the thought appears another magic burst happens.
Soon the whole city is covered in blue and red plants. People start to panic and run away. I smile as I see the species that’s caused me the most problems flee in fear.
'Beautiful' As I watch the chaos I created someone calls out to me. "Hey what are you doing!" I turn towards the voice slightly to see a corpse. 'Ah u' Another Sans, it had been a while since I last saw one.
This one was a bit smaller than the first one. Instead of navy blue he has sky blue colors. He looks confused, worried and… determined. ‘How strange’ I think as I tilt my head at the strange creature.
"Who is that? Do they need help?" He asks while taking a step forward but stops when I pull her closer and growl. His arms are outstretched as if he wants to take her. ‘How Dare He’ I stare at him with disdain at his audacity.
"Do not worry I mean you no harm I just want to help! Tell me what's wrong and i'l…" Before he could finish talking I disappear in a flurry of petals. I reappear in the part of the forest that Lilia loved most. It was an open clearing covered in her favorite flora with a nice clear view of the sky.
'The perfect resting place.' I create a big bed of flowers for her to lay in before raising it slightly off the ground. I gently place her on the bed of petals with a sorrowful expression.
I then place a magic barrier around her to preserve her and keep her in this exact moment. "I'm not ready to lose you yet. Why did this have to happen to you of all people." I say to myself with tears welling up in my eyes. ‘Why does this keep happening to me, I can’t do it anymore’

Chapter Text
Sky's POV-
The whole embassy is in chaos as everyone tries to calm people down. Many are trying to figure out why the city has turned into a botanical garden. I of course know what's at the root of all this chaos and that's why I'm here.
My official job is a therapist but I also (including my housemates) work as a royal guard. We're usually called when there is a dangerous situation. Because this situation is special, all the royal guards are here waiting for orders.
After sometime me and my housemates are all called in by the king and queen. As I walk into the room I see that the monster royals, scientists, generals, the president and his entourage are here. The room looks so crowded, I'm surprised they had space left for us.
We are guided to sit between the royals and scientists. Then I was asked to tell them what happened. "Well I was going out to my favorite coffee place when suddenly I heard honking. At first I didn't think much of it since I hear it all the time. That was until I looked over and saw someone holding a human in the middle of the street." I pause for a second before continuing.
"I then thought it was a suicide attempt and immediately started to walk over. I was going to talk them out of it. But then I felt a strong intent of grief and anger from the creature. And out of nowhere a sudden surge of magic came from their neck. The magic went over everything and all kinds of plants grew after it." I looked over towards my brother before finishing my report.
"Strangely enough all the flora were red and blue. Anyways I called out to them and offered my help but before I could finish talking they disappeared into petals." I tell them finally as I lower my hands. "Is that all?" Toriel asks me politely with her paws folded on the table.
"Yes, that is all." After it is confirmed that I’m done talking, most of the room starts talking at once. The fell queen had to yell to get everyone to calm down. The scientists then show everyone what they found after looking through all the CCTV in the area.
They saw how a human woman was subtly dragged into the alleyway by a hooded figure. Then they saw how the figure was the only one to leave 30 minutes later. After a couple of hours an extremely big raven flies and then lands in front of the alley.
The raven then shifts into a feminine figure with a long fluffy tail, hooves for feet, paws for hands and long antlers on top of its head. They then slowly walk into the alleyway and shortly after it starts to rain. Then the video glitches a bit before we see the red and blue flora growing out of the alleyway.
When the rain calms down to a drizzle the creature walks out of the alley with the human in hand. It stops right in the middle of traffic and looks up at the sky. Then everything I recounted to them happens before their eyes.
When the video was done the room was completely silent. “So, because some human decided to kill one of its kind the creature protecting the victim is angry and we now have to suffer for it” Lilith asks in slight irritation and anger. "...We will solve this problem ourselves." Asgore says after a moment of silence.
"There’s no need for th-" The president tries to speak up but Is immediately interrupted. "It was humans that caused this. We don't know what it is or what it's thinking. Sending humans will only make this worse." Scarlet states to the president who becomes silent.
"If we believe this thing is dangerous we will send our people in." The president says to the room while poking the table. After that the meeting is over and the humans leave.
-
Toriel claps her paws together to get the room's full attention. "Alright since the guards will be busy keeping the citizens calm the serifs will be in charge of investigating and solving this." She tells them in a way that makes it clear it’s an order.
“Report anything you find to Undyne’s team.” Asgore turns to Sans to speak to him. “We’ll do our best to solve this as quickly and peacefully as possible. I’ll have Orpheus make the reports since he’s the best at it.” Sans says while lazily saluting to Asgore. “Good, hopefully you succeed. The scientist will give you all additional information.” Queenie says to Sans while sipping some tea.
“We could go confront it ourselves.” Cain says, thinking he could somehow defeat the guardian. “Doing that would get us all killed, the terrarium outside is enough proof of its strength.” Ursula looks at Cain as if he's an idiot for even suggesting it.
“I don’t see how a bunch of plants is dangerous.” Cain says snarkily while waving his paw dismissively. “Well for one no monster has enough magic to do that, not even you. It literally spread its magic over the whole city.” Lilith says in a slightly raised voice at the absurdity of the conversation.
“There are also reports of the plant literally tossing any fleeing vehicles back into the city. They also nearly suffocate any humans that try to leave on foot. They can’t even be burned and people have tried.” Garrison says while rubbing his temples. “It's caging us in.” Abigor speaks for the first time, shocking many.
But they all agreed with him, the creature clearly doesn’t want anyone leaving. “...Sans.. be careful at all times and if it seems too dangerous retreat.” Asgore tells Sans in a serious yet worried tone. “No need to worry, careful is my middle name.” Sans tries to lighten the mood in the room. But fails on the account of no one finding it humorous.
Ursula slams her paws onto the table in irritation. “This is no time for your jokes. I will not have my best guard wounded or killed because of you.” She says through gritted teeth at Sans.
“You're right, sorry about that. I promise to keep everyone safe and out of harm's way.” Sans says with his hands raised and sweat dripping from his skull. The fellswap queen simply huffs at him before standing up. Everyone takes that as their cue to leave.
As the skeletons are walking out of the meeting room Brona the Horrortale queen pulls Sans aside. She greets him warmly before asking about Birch. He tells her that he hasn’t seen him in a while. Her expression becomes sad as she apologizes for taking up his time. Sans feels bad for her as he watches her walk towards Ursula.
Sans is brought out of his thoughts by Crimson. They then walk over towards Alphys and her counterparts. They tell them what they know while also handing Sans some papers. Orpheus walks over and grabs the papers from Sans who thanks him.
When everyone is ready they leave to go home. In the car Sky is looking out the window with a somber expression. "You alright bro?" Nectar asks his brother with a relaxed smile. "Yeah, just a bit tired. A lot has happened today." Sky tells him honestly while leaning his head back.
"It sure did, so happy we're finally going home. I can hear my bed calling for me" Sans says with his arms folded behind his neck. "I hate to say it brother but I agree with you. I’m so tired, I can’t wait to sit down with a cup of tea. And Sky, let me know if you need anything ok. You've been through a lot today." Papyrus calls to Sky while keeping his eye lights on the road. "Thanks pap, I promise to let you know if I do." Sky responds in a chipper tone.

Chapter Text
Sans's POV-
It took us a couple of days but we were able to find where that… creature went. We were also able to find some information on the victim. We got some reports that a woman hadn't been seen or heard from since that day. It seems that almost everyone close to her already knew about her forest guardian.
"So what we learned is that this creature doesn’t hide itself. It's overly protective of its human. To the point of being aggressive towards anyone who it deems a threat to said human. And it is overly cautious of humans of all kinds." I say while crossing my legs on the table to balance my chair on two of its four legs. "So it's a loyal dog that has lost its owner." Nectar states as he places a bubblegum in his mouth.
Crimson rolls his eye lights as Nectar blows his gum until it pops. "An ownerless loyal dog is usually a dangerous dog. Especially if this one is already known to show aggression. A loyal dog isn't just going to let their owner die in vain. Creatures like that can be irrational at times like this. We need to find out what it plans to do before something bad happens. There's a reason it grew so many large plants around the city. I would like to not find out why." Crimson pulls out a mustard bottle and chugs it after he’s done speaking.
Everyone sits in silence for a while before Sky and Orpheus come bursting in. Slamming the door open as they enter. Everyone jumps except Cerberus who heard them coming. My chair slips and I nearly become one with the wood floor. Thankfully I activate my magic in time to catch myself.
Sky looks around at everyone's shocked expressions before huffing. "Come on! Why are you all just sitting here?! We know where it is so let's go!" He says energetically while bouncing over to his brother. "It's not that simple, we don't know anything about this creature except what the humans tell us." I say as I slowly lower my chair and myself onto the floor.
"It could be dangerous." Nectar responds in a serious tone, shortly followed by a loud pop. Sky gives Nectar a deadpan look as his eye socket twitches slightly. "Especially since it's obviously grieving and upset." Crimson waves his mustard bottle around as he speaks. "There is no need to hesitate. While you all were sitting here I actually found some history on this beast." Orpheus then pulls out a binder filled with papers. "You did?!" I asks him, I’m honestly a bit shocked and impressed.
Orpheus rolls his eye lights before taking a seat. He then opens the binder and puts on some reading glasses. "Of course, I had to do some digging since it seems someone didn't want it found. This creature is known to form emotional attachments with humans.Though not as strong as this one. If anything were to happen to those humans it would go on a hunt for the perpetrator. I believe that the way to appease this creature is to give it what it wants." Orpheus states while pushing the binder towards me. I immediately reach over and grab it.
"Wait just a second. If it’s gone hunting for them before, why is it just sitting back now?" I wonder out loud, it just doesn’t make sense to me. "Well this creature is known for its short temper, especially around humans. I found that one time a human and their child were killed by their neighbors. The whole town believed them to be witches. So when they cried for help no one came. The next day the whole town was covered in flora. And all the people in the town went missing. It is heavily implied that they were used as fertilizer for the plants. You can find the ruined remains of the town on the other side of the mountain." Orpheus retails the story he was told by a local.
He had personally gone to the ruled town himself. It was beautiful.. yet ominous and foreboding. Everyone was processing the information as Sans gave a big sigh. "So you're telling us that it's just a matter of time before it decides to kill everyone?" Sans rubs his temples as he can already feel a headache forming. "Yes and no, It's still an intelligent creature. As long as we give it what it wants we should be fine. It also seems to be directing its animosity only at humans. All monsters who have tried to leave the city have been treated with care. There’s literally a video of how differently the plants treat monsters that try to escape compared to humans." Orpheus says as he waves his hands to and fro.
“With how angry it is, it's probably not thinking right. It lost so many friends to one species. So it probably is thinking to just get rid of all the humans in the city. I’m hoping I'm wrong but with what we’ve found and observed it’s most likely true.” Sky says while looking at the floor and rubbing his palms. Nectar, seeing his brother becoming distressed, goes over and pulls him into a side hug. “I get it… why waste ur time going after one rat when you can exterminate the whole nest.” Cerberus finally speaks, he’s currently smoking a dog treat while leaning on the wall. Most of the monsters in the room agreed with Cerberus. But even though they agreed with it didn’t mean they’d let it happen.
Sky tiredly sighs loudly before roughly rubbing his face. "Ok, we need to figure out how to meet the beast without irritating it. If we just pop up with the criminal in hand it will think we're plotting something. We’ll have to talk to it and come up with a deal." Nectar swallows his gum before looking down at his brother. "How do we know it won't just kill us?" He asks Sky as he starts to lean on him heavily.
"Because it has no reason to, we’ve done nothing to anger it. This creature isn't just going to go on a Massacre for shits and giggles." Orpheus responds to Nectar's question quickly. As if he was expecting for someone to ask it. "From what we’ve found it usually keeps to itself in the forest. It doesn't bother anyone as long as they don't bother it." Sky tells everyone before pushing his brother off of him. Nectar just pathetically falls to the floor with an ‘oof’.
"The humans say that when something precious of theirs is taken it becomes vengeful and vindictive. But honestly it's just doing what anyone else would do in this situation." Orpheus says as he picks his claws boredly. "It's best if we talk to them as soon as possible. The longer we wait the quicker its anger will fester." Sky says in his most professional opinion. "...... We can go tomorrow, until then let's prepare to meet whatever this thing is." I say to everyone before yawning. After that everyone gets up and walks up the stairs out of the basement. I then close the door to the lab when everyone is out.
Rory is in the kitchen cooking with Papyrus. They made a full Italian meal fit for a 5 star restaurant. After everyone is done eating I tell them about the plan for tomorrow. Everyone wants to go but I knew it wouldn't be smart to bring them all. So I decided to just bring Nectar, Sky and Orpheus with me. I wouldn't have to worry about Nectar doing or saying something to get us killed. Sky and Orpheus were the ones to find the information about it so they would know what to do better than anyone. 'I just hope everything goes well'
___________
The next day the house is bustling with activity. Everyone is getting ready for the day and my group is getting ready to leave. "Ok we're leaving, see you all later!" I call out to the household. "Later, stay safe!" Papyrus calls back with a big smile. Everyone says their goodbyes before we go to the car. The ride to Ebott forest was uneventful thankfully.
Seeing all the blue and red flora on the way was honestly beautiful. Especially the giant red wood tree with blue leaves. It was like right out of a fantasy movie. Sky wrote down all the different flora he saw. He also took pictures of as many as he could. When we got to the forest there were no signs of the flora that cover the city. While walking deeper into the forest I notice that the wildlife becomes more abundant the more we walk.
It also feels like all the animals we pass are watching us. The paranoia fills me until we are out of their sight. It was honestly very creepy. "Ignore them, they are simply spies for the forest guardian." Orpheus says as he walks ahead of me. "So it’s controlling every living thing in this forest?" I ask him as I speed up to walk beside him. "No, they keep watch for anything dangerous or abnormal. In exchange the guardian keeps them safe. The forest guardian earned its title from the humans. Don’t you wonder why the government stays away from this place? Why they gave us no info about it? They are scared of what it would do to them if they did. If you respect the guardian it will leave you be. It's like a lion, as long as you're not a threat or food you're safe." Orpheus tells me while continuing to look forward.
We then walk in silence as I gather my thoughts. "So we're fine as long as we don't threaten it?" I asks him, a bit quieter than I usually speak. "Yes." Orpheus says after signing in irritation. I then decide to stop asking him questions since it seems he isn’t in the mood for them. After a while we see the flora again and decide to follow it. Soon we walk into a meadow of blue flora. And at the center was a human woman laying on a raised bed of flowers. Next to her is the creature we’re looking for. She looks dazed, like she isn’t fully here. It doesn’t look at us even once and simply stares at the motionless human.
Sky walks up to it but stops immediately when it growls at him. She still didn't look at us, just growls as her fur puffs up in agitation. Sky steps back a bit and it quiets down.

"Hi, do you remember me? I was worried when you disappeared. I hope you’re ok, I can help if you’d like me to." Sky tries to get her attention while speaking in a soft voice. Lilac simply doesn't acknowledge him or do anything. She just continues to stare at her sleeping beauty in silence. "We are curious as to what happened. Maybe we could help find the perpetrator." Orpheus asks after assessing the situation, he has moved to be standing next to Sky.
Lilac then tenses up before turning towards them with blue eyes. Tears poured out of their eyes like a river. They stare at them for a while before speaking with a sorrowful tone. “The only way to fix this is to bring her back.” She says with a whine as tears flow from her eyes.
Sky’s face scrunches up as he tries to keep from crying. “... We.. we can’t do that, but we do have ways to catch the criminal. Doing so will at least give you some peace of mind.” Sky tries his best to stay calm as he speaks. Lilac just stares at him for a bit before turning her head. “... You know.. That day was the exact day I decided to stop following her. I was supposed to keep her safe. But the exact day I decided to stop codeling her.. Is the day she dies. Why does this keep happening to me?” Lilac says as she claws the ground in anger and sorrow.
“Everyone passes, we just have to learn to accept it and live with their memory.” Orpheus stands straight as he speaks. He makes sure to keep his eye lights on the hulking beast.
Lilac flexes her claws into the ruined ground below her. “But, they were all killed… by humans. Not a single one has passed from natural causes.” She says through clenched teeth and blurry eyes. Sky and Orpheus look at each other in silence. Neither know what to say or what to do. “I will tell you what happened, then you will find him. Or… I’ll be exterminating the pest.” Lilac growls with her teeth bared as she turns towards them.
She then recounts everything that happened that day and doesn't leave a single thing out. The more they are told the more shocked and appalled they become. they knew humans were depraved but they didn't know they were this horrible. It sounds like something you'd hear from a crime show. It was gruesome and nauseating, Sans wished he had ears just so he could cover them.
When Lilac finishes talking there is a thick layer of concentrated magic surrounding the area. The beast is distressed and visibility agitated. Then suddenly something or someone zoomed past them. "Sans!" Sans hears Nectar yell after Sky before realizing it was him who ran past them. Sans watched as he ran towards the creature with teary eyes and open arms. "Well fuck."

Lilac's POV-
I couldn't help but think about how I could have prevented this. Out of all humans it had to be my human. If only I had kept following her, if only I had just listened to my gut, if only I had protected her… if only. Then out of nowhere a being crashes into me and hugs me tightly. I’m extremely confused until I realize it is the corpse from the other day. He is hugging me tightly as if It would save me. I stare at him dumbly for a bit before relaxing in the embrace. I am tempted to hug back but stubbornly decide against it. At the corner of my eyes I notice someone taking a step forward.
"Umm.. can you tell us why you grew plants all over the city?" Sans asks the question that everyone wants answered. I look down at him blankly before speaking. "... I was deciding if I should just kill all the humans in the city." As I speak the one hugging me tenses and everyone looks anxious and cautious. "Have you decided?" Sky, I believe his name is, looks up at me from the confines of my mane. "..I had." I say slowly while narrowing my eyes at him. "You shouldn't! Doing so won't bring back your human and you would be branded as a criminal." He says to me as if that was ever a word of mine. "Hah, why would I care about that? If I wanted to I could rid this whole planet of humans. Those little shits wouldn’t even be able to leave a scratch on me"
Sky looks at me with disapproval. "Just because there are some bad apples doesn’t mean you should cut down the whole tree." He tries to lecture me in a maternal tone. I’m confused why he’d bring up apples and trees now of all times. That confusion soon turns to rage as I stare wide eyed down at him. "If the tree keeps producing bad apples I will burn it to the ground." I say in a low deep rumble that shakes the ground. Sky is struck silent with the amount of killing intent I'm producing. After calming himself down and breathing out he looks up at me with determination.
"If we find the perpetrator, would you spare the humans?" He asks in a calm and serious voice. "What good will that do? This will just keep happening and nothing will be done about it." I say in irritation as my tail swings behind me. "Killing a whole city of humans would be unacceptable. Let us capture the criminal and bring him to you. It’s better to kill one useless fool than multiple innocence. We can also help with the funeral if you’ll allow us.” Orpheus tries to reason with me but he only succeeds to anger me further. “Watch it corpse, you are testing the little patients I don’t have.” I say as my eyes glow a deep red. “.. I apologize, that was rude of me.” Orpheus says before bowing towards me.
I growl down at him before calming myself down. I then sit in my thoughts for a moment. “How can I trust you?” I ask after a bit of hesitation. For all I know they could be as bad as the humans. “We will wear your flowers so you can watch us. You can also have us followed by your familiars. Watching our progress could help ease your frustrations." Orpheus lists off things he knows I’ve done before. "...Fine.. I'll give u 2 months but if I feel like ur not doing enough I'll handle it myself." I say reluctantly before standing up. Sky who was still hugging me is now gripping my mane for dear life. The poor thing is a good couple of feet off the ground. Nectar who is standing nearby snickers at his brother. Sky does end up letting go and landing on his butt. Orpheus shakes his head in amusement before responding to me. "Of course."
_____
3rd Person POV-
Soon enough the serifs go home and discuss what happened to the rest of the house. Everyone is then given a flower to place on their wrist. The flowers quickly fuse into their magic. The flowers then reappeared on their necks as a mark. They were then told about their plan on finding the killer to appease the beast. Everyone was coming up with ideas on how to find him. They look through everything they currently have about the situation. The CCTV is able to give them a shot of his face but it is blurry. From what they could see he looks like your average american man and doesn't have any discerning features.
They go around looking for witnesses who were around the area that day. Investigating anyone who looks a bit suspicious. They collect alibis from suspects and investigate some more. After a week they are still unable to find the criminal and are getting impatient. "Why the fuck is it taking so long to find one measly human!" Rory yells after slamming his fist on the kitchen table. "If we had his scent or even better his DNA it would be easier." Orpheus says while rubbing his eye sockets. "And how are we supposed to get that? We don't know where he's been and any evidence that was in that alleyway is gone." Nectar grumbles with his arms crossed behind his head. "... There is somewhere we could get it." Crimson replies tiredly. "... Well.. Spit it out will you!" Orpheus yells in irritation as he waits for Crimson’s answer.
Crimson sighs before speaking up. "The human woman should still have some of his DNA on her. We can just get it from there." Crimson states as if it’s the most obvious answer. "Well there’s a problem with that idea." Sans responds from his seat next to Crimson. "And what would that be?" Rory didn’t understand why there would be a problem. "She’s still grieving, if we were to go up to it and ask "Hey we know ur still very pissed but can we search ur humans corpse for any possible DNA that was left behind? Thank u and bye" ya think she'd just agree?" Cerberus replies to Rory in exasperation that he even has to explain such an obvious thing to him. "I can find a way to convince her to hand over the human for a bit. We could bring Alphys and give some offerings." Sky says as he sits down with a down of fruits. He’d read that humans usually give offerings to the guardian If they want something.
"That might not work." Nectar says to his brother. "It's better to try than do nothing." Sky says back before eating a grape. "Well if we're going to ask then we better do this carefully. Even if u say it won't just attack us, it's better to be safe than sorry." Sans turns to Sky and Orpheus as he speaks. "I understand." Sky responds while Orpheus just nodes. Soon everyone is done and one by one they go their separate ways. Sans calls Alphys that night and tells her about their plan. She agrees to go as long as she can bring Undyne. The next day both Alphys and Undyne are waiting in their car to follow them to the forest. Sans, Papyrus, Orpheus, Sky and Nectar pile into the car and head on their way. When they all get there Sans makes sure to tell everyone to be on their best behavior. On their way through the forest an unusual raven appears in front of them.
It tilts its head at them curiously before opening its beak. "Ah, it's good to see you all here on time." Everyone stands frozen in confusion and then panic. "Who are u and how did u know we were coming?" Sans asked in the calmest voice he could muster. "Ah my apologies, my name is stolas and my master made a deal with you did she not? I remember you agreeing to be followed." The raven says with a sure and slightly cocky tone. He watches as some of the monsters get nervous. "Do not worry young ones, my Master is willing to hear you out." He says before flying off deeper into the forest.
Sans sighs a breath of relief before turning towards everyone. "Well that went well." Sans says as he scratches the back of his neck. "You were literally just told that you're being surveilled." Undyne says with a look of disbelief. "It was the only way we could gain even a bit of their trust. It could have gone worse though." Orpheus crosses his arms as he turns his head. "You're not helping." Sky elbows Orpheus lightly in disapproval. "I'm not trying to, now let's go we don't want to make her wait now do we?" He says with his hands clasped behind his back. He then proceeds to walk the direction the raven flew to. It takes them some time before they finally reach their destination.
There they see Lilac, sitting next to her human. She stares at the dead woman blankly just like when they were last there. It was obvious that she wasn't truly here and no one wanted to disturb her. Then Stolas glides to her gracefully before landing on a flower next to her. "Mistress, you have guests." He says in a calm, quiet and patient tone. Lilac takes a second to respond but when she does she simply turns her head. She is very out of it, as if she is in a dream. It takes her a bit more time to focus on what's happening. She then finally turns towards the corpses and blinks.
"Hello madam, we've come to ask a question. But you seem a bit out of it, we can come some other time if you wish." Orpheus speaks first sense he feels he knows how to handle the situation. "...... It's.. fine, just… need second." Lilac’s speech is very slow and broken. Almost as if her brain is missing some key pieces. Blue slowly walks up to Lilac and sits next to her perch on the flower bed. Soon the others follow suit and sit on the ground as well. Lilac looks like she'd pass out at any moment. "Are you ok?" Sky asks them worriedly but as expected Lilac doesn't answer.
"Worry not little one, mistress is simply reverting back to bad habits." Stolas talks to them as if they are children. Sans and Nectar already don’t like the dude. "What do you mean?" Sky looks over at Stolas in confusion. "She has a habit of sleeping away her problems in the hope that they disappear when she wakes up. She hasn't done it in a while, but it's no surprise that she's doing it again. She just woke up so she’s a bit loopy." He tells them before going over to sit on Sky’s leg. Sky is a bit surprised by the action but doesn’t stop him. "Is there any way we can help?" Papyrus asks while ringing his hands worriedly. "No… but thanks for offering. It's best to let her get through it alone." Stolas says to Papyrus with a small smile. "Is there a way we can ask her a question? She doesn't currently look like she’ll answer any." Sans speaks up after a moment of hesitation.
Stolas looks at Sans with an unreadable expression. He thinks for a second before growing to the size of a dog. He then nestles on to Lilac's lap before purring. It seems that’s exactly what she needed since she soon starts to focus. She is finally looking at them and is petting Stolas gently and slowly. She seems relaxed and a little more awake now. "What do u want?" She questions them in a flat tone. "We uh.. we're having problems finding the… human that did this… So we were uh.. hoping u'd let us get some… DNA from ur human so-" Sans is sweating bullets as he nervously talks. He’s never been this nervous around someone before… he finds that he doesn’t like it.
Lilac quickly snaps her head towards Sans with a manic expression. "WHAT?" Sans flinches strongly at Lilac’s outburst. He’s now wishing he didn’t have to be the one to ask. "Umm… we uh.." Sans is finding it hard to speak under the harsh glare that is directed at him. "Miss, we don't mean to anger you. We simply wish to find this criminal quickly." Orpheus tries to calm the tension that’s building. But fails as Lilac doesn’t seem to want to hear it. "You wish to violate my human!" She yells in anger as she abruptly stands. Now at her full height she towers over all of them. "Of course not, we simply wish to help. We have a professional doctor with us. You of course will be watching the whole process. We just wish to help you find him as fast as possible." Orpheus says in hope that she doesn’t become more upset.
Lilac stood silently in thought for a moment before making a decision. Stolas, seeing his mistress in distress, flies on top of her head and purrs. Lilac relaxes slightly and starts to breathe deeply. She then gives a deep sigh before sitting down. "if I see anything I don't like, I’ll bury u." She says to them with wide and unblinking eyes. "Of course, you have our word, nothing bad will happen." Orpheus replies to her quickly and without hesitation. Soon Alphys walks up to Lilac shivering, sweating and shaking up a storm. Sky and Papyrus bring over her equipment and then back away so Alphys can do her work. Lilac watches everything Alphys does and after a while it seems she has calmed down significantly. She is very patient with Alphys and mostly just stays out of the way. When Alphys is done Lilac brings out some towels and wipes Lilia down.
Sans breathes a sigh of relief when Alphys walks up to her girlfriend. “I’m so happy everything worked out.” He says after dragging his palms down his face. "...It's.. so sad." Alphys comments with tears welling in her eyes. “What’s wrong babe?” Undyne asks her partner worriedly with her hand on her back. Alphys sniffles silently as she wipes her tears away. “She lost the one person she truly cared about. I’m just.. Thinking of how I would feel in her shoes.” Alphys says as more tears fall from her eyes. No one would want to go through what Lilac is going through. Undyne rubs Alphys’s back with a sad expression.
She isn’t sure what to say to comfort Alphys. “Yeah, I honestly would go on a rampage if something happened to you. Can’t fault her for feeling the way she does.” Undyne says as they turn to look at Lilac. She is still wiping down the human’s body. “I wish there was more we could do. But nothing can fix what happened.” Alphys says to Undyne before starting to pack up her equipment. Undyne is quick to help move the heavier equipment. As they pack everything into their van Alphys calms herself down. After she cleans her face of all tears and snot she walks up to Lilac. “Um.. I.. I’m sorry you had to go through this. No one should lose someone like that. I promise that we will do everything in our power to catch him.” Alphys tells Lilac while looking at the ground and fidgeting with her claws.
Lilac just stares at Alphys silently at first but then she starts to cry. “... Thank u.” She responds quietly before rubbing her face roughly. She then leans down to hug the body of Lilia. Alphys starts to tear up again but tries to keep from crying. Everyone stands quietly as Lilac cries while hugging her human. Her cries are so deafening and sorrowful that all the skeletons could feel her grief. When she stops crying Orpheus hands her a basket. She looks at it indifferently but takes it anyway. Inside were stuffed animals, chocolate, a blanket, tea and an empty photo book. She smiles and thanks them with sincerity. They then start to leave and say their farewells.

Chapter Text
The next day Sans and Crimson teleport to the official Monster laboratory. They had gotten a text from Sakura (UF Alphys) that morning. When they got there they were led to the forensics lab by Nami (US Undyne). In the lab Sakura was pulling something up on a computer. Nami had them wait next to Sakura’s desk before leaving. Sakura then turned the computer towards them.
On the screen was a picture of an average looking human. He had a scar on his cheek and an arrogant expression. Under his picture was some info and crimes he's committed. “This is the human you're looking for. His name is Connor and he’s been charged with multiple crimes. His crimes include theft, breaking an entry, assault and attempted rape.” She says to them in a professional tone.
Crimson glares at the man's image in disgust. “Why the fuck is this dude still on the street?” He asks in confusion and irritation. “His parents always get him good lawyers. But it seems he was disowned a year ago.” Sakura says as she turns the computer back around. “Does it say where we can find him?” Sans questions as he leans forward onto his knees.
“No, but I had a face recognizer system go through most of the city's cameras last night. It should be finishing up in about 2 hours.” She tells them honestly before starting to type something on her computer. “That’s great, can you print out the info for us. Oh and send us the camera footage when it’s done?” Sans asks as he leans back into the chair in relief. They were finally close to catching the bastard. “Yeah, I’ll print it now.” Sakura tells them as she turns on her printer.
“Thanks Alph.” Crimson says to her quietly and with gratitude. He’s looking everywhere but her as he says it. Sakura blushes lightly before coughing. She wasn’t used to receiving such words from anyone other than her girlfriend. “I’m just doing my job… make sure you catch that bitch. I heard from Og the full story of what happened to the human woman. I honestly could give a shit about humans as a whole. But… no one should ever have to experience that.” She says while glaring down at her computer.
She had her fist clenched tightly but quickly unclenched them. Yeah the fell type monsters were cruel but this was just unacceptable. It’s something that no monster would even think about doing. “With the mutt with us we’ll capture the human by sundown. If I had it my way I’d kill the son of a bitch myself. But I’m pretty sure the forest creature wants the honor of that.” Crimson says with a sinister smile and deep laugh. “Good, I hope he dies painfully.” Sakura says back with a big cruel smirk.
When the papers are done printing, Sakura places them in a folder. Once Sans has them they said their goodbyes before teleporting home. All the skeletons are in the living room waiting for them. Sans and Crimson sit down on the couches and relax. Sans then tells everyone the news. Orpheus and Rory are glad that they can finally hunt this criminal. Sky was grateful that they didn’t have to make the forest guardian wait much longer. Everyone had their turn to look over the folder before handing it over to Orpheus. He goes to his office to place it with the rest of the folders. They then all decide to watch movies until Sakura sends them more info.
- Time Skip -
Ten minutes after the end of their second movie Sans gets a message. Sakura has sent him the videos and texted him Connors' most recent location. He was last seen heading towards an abandoned warehouse. It was once owned by his parents so that’s probably why he chose to hide there. The skeletons quickly cut off the tv and gather around the dinning table to make a plan.
They needed to go after this human, specifically in a way that he can’t escape. They all give out their ideas and debate. Soon they decide to head to the warehouse. Crimson and Cerberus would go in first to make sure he’s inside. Once confirmed they’d go block any exits and then go in after him. Once they had the plan down they all piled into 2 cars and headed to the warehouse.
They park a block away from the building and cut off their cars. As planned Crimson and Cerberus go in first. After a while both skeletons come back and confirm he’s inside. Cerberus also seems to have found them a way to enter quietly. They teleport to the side of the warehouse. There they see a doorway with the door barely hanging on. They quickly get started on blocking every exit the building has. Then they search the building starting with the first floor. The warehouse is huge so they split up to cover more ground.
Rory walks through a large room that looks to have once housed multiple machines. There are currently 2 rundown machines in the middle of the room collecting dust. Rory looks under, over and between everything. He finds a dusty sheet laid over something in between a wall and some boxes. He silently approaches before quickly grabbing the sheet and flung it off. He is disappointed to just find a machine piece and walks away with a huff.
In another room Papyrus is walking through looking for any signs of the human. He’s distracted from his search by a ceiling fan. It is laying on the floor next to a door. He's curious as to what happened for it to get there. He then focuses on the door, Pap opens the door slowly before entering. Inside he finds a room filled with desks. The room is very dusty and dark. He doubts that the human would hide in here but looks anyway.
He walks through the room until he reaches the back room. He suspects that it used to be a manager's office. The room is separated from the other by a large glass window. Paps enters the separate room and is bombarded by a horrendous smell. It is so rancid and so vile that he felt like vomiting. As he turns to leave the room he sees something… Something he wish he hadn't seen.
-
Sans had just finished looking through some rooms. He teleports back to the warehouse entrance. There he finds Orpheus, Cerberus, Sky and Rory getting ready to head to the second floor. Sans talks to them for a bit before sending Papyrus a quick text. In the text he let them know that they were heading up the stairs. As soon as he sent the text he got a phone call from Nyoka (FS Undyne). Sans looked at his phone confused before answering. “Sup, u got any new information?” The others watch as Sans talks on the phone. They decide to wait for him to finish in front of the stairs. They talk about where the human could be hiding. How to catch him and how soon should they hand him over to the guardian.
“They Did What!?” The skeletons all became quiet at San’s outburst. None of them had ever heard Sans yell since they met him. They start to get nervous as they know something bad has happened. Rory is speculating that the humans might have found the criminal already. Orpheus added that they might be protecting him. Sky thought it might have something to do with the forest guardian. Cerberus just knew that whatever it was, it could fuck everything up. “Alright.. Yeah we’ll head over there now.” Sans says in clear annoyance before hanging up. “... What.. happened?” Sky asks hesitantly, he isn’t really sure he wants to know.
Sans sighs loudly before rubbing his face roughly. “The humans have decided to send a small military team into the forest.” He says while covering his eye lights. “Are you fucking kidding me? Why the hell would those dumb fuck do that?” Rory yells at the stupidity of it. “I’m not sure, they probably got impatient.” Sans says before clasping his hands in front of his face. It looked like he was praying for something to give him patients. “That’s a dumb reason to risk the whole city.” Orpheus says with his arms folded. His skull is shaped into a deep frown. “Well whatever their reason is we have to go now. They’ve probably already reached the center of the forest by now.” Sans says as he types something into his phone.
“If we’re going to have to fight I’m bringing Cerberus.” Orpheus says in a way it was clear he wasn't asking. “That’s alright with me. Sky, I'll be teleporting us there, is that good with you?” Sans turns to face Sky who has a determined expression on. “Yeah, let's go.” He says with a quick nod before walking up beside him. “I’ll round the others up before going up stairs.” Rory states as he quickly sends out a group text. “Thanks, let me know when you find the human.” Sans says before teleported to the forest. Sans then quickly leads them through the forest.
They soon notice a strange smell in the air. It is faint but still noticeable. Cerberus is the first to realize what the smell is. The closer they get to the clearing the stronger the smell gets… the smell of death. When they finally enter the clearing the intent in the air makes them sick. It is so thick and concentrated that it feels like walking through jello. Sans feels his eye lights extinguish as he looks at the scene in front of him.
Dead bodies lay all around the area, one was even impaled to a tree. The forest guardian was standing protectively above her human. Her form is a creature on 4 legs bigger than an elephant. Her k9 shaped skull has blood dripping from the maw. Her Long fluffy ears hung motionless in the air. Her front paws are stained with blood as they dig into the ground. Her back hooves are splayed out behind her and her long bushy tail flung behind her wildly.
Sans tried to take a step towards her but stops when she growls at him. The growl is so loud and guttural that they feel it in their souls. One of the humans gasps loudly for air and gains the beast’s attention. She lungs at the wounded soldier with the intent to kill. Orpheus loudly orders Cerberus to stop her. Cerberus immediately jumps into action by slamming into Its side. The guardian falls a couple of feet to the side. It stays there for a second before turning and growling at Cerberus.
The skeleton stands his ground while keeping an aloof expression. But his fixaude fades when the beast stands and roars at him. The roar itself is enough for him to lose feeling in his legs. He becomes extremely still when the beast appears in front of him. She stares at him menacingly before walking past him towards the human.
Cerberus stands there quietly while looking at the ground. Just as she’s about to reach the human, Sky stands in front of her. His arms are stretched out and his legs are shaking. “You shouldn’t do this.” Sky tries to say with confidence but it comes out a bit weak. “Why not?” Lilac asks bluntly while boring holes into his skull. “Doing this won’t make you any better than them.” Sky says while looking into her eyes. “.. And? I never claimed to be better. They came all the way here with military grade weapons. Just. For. ME. It would be extremely rude of me not to… thank them.” She says with a toothy smile that promises hell. “Lilac.” Orpheus calls out to her and she quickly turns her head upon hearing her name.
Orpheus has his hands clasped behind his back. “That is your name, isn’t it?” He says to her in a calm voice. Lilac just silently stares at him with an unreadable expression. “The human that caused all of this has been apprehended. He will appear here shortly, so please hold your anger a bit longer.” He continues in hope that the information will please her. “What does that have to do with this?” She asks, referring to the humans that were sent here to deal with her. They only really succeeded in entertaining her though.
Sans finally speaks up after taking a step forward. “We will deal with the human government and we need that one alive. We won’t get any information with him dead.” Sans tells her as he tries to keep himself calm. “.. How long?” Lilac says after thinking about it for a second. “They will be appearing in the forest shortly.” Sans responds quickly as Lilac tilts her head in thought. She then walks over to Lilia and curls her body around her protectively.
Soon enough the rest of the skeletons are heading towards them. When they come into view they see the perpetrator in ropes. Rory is holding him by the back of his shirt as they walk. They are all momentarily shocked by the blood. Everyone but Rory who continues to walk in strides. The others then also follow quickly behind. Lilac sat up as soon as she smelt them getting near. She stares at them as they walk into the clearing. The man struggles as he sees the giant creature eying him like prey. When Rory feels he is close enough to Lilac he throws the human in front of her.
“This is the man who killed your human.” He states with his arms behind his back and his head held high. “...Are u sure?” She asks as she eyes the human male. “I’m positive.” Rory responds confidently and he keeps his stance. “How so?” Lilac asks curiously as her pupils start to shrink. “...One of us had the misfortune of stumbling upon.. 2 of his previous victims.” He tells the beast after a bit of hesitation. Sans, Sky, Orpheus and even Cerberus show clear shock at this. Most weren’t surprised that he’d killed before. They were more worried about who found the bodies.
“So you will just hand him to me?” Asks as her eyes turn to slits and she starts to grin. “Yes, he’s all yours.” Sans confirms before motioning for Cerberus to grab the barely living soldier. “.. And you will not complain no matter what I do to him?” Lilac asks while looking at all of them. “You can flay him alive and we wouldn’t care.” Orpheus tells you with his arms crossed and a smile on his face. “Well-” Sans tries to speak but is interrupted by the tied up human. “Are you freaks insane!? Are you really going to hand me over to that thing? What even is it?” The arrogant prick, Connor, yells in question.
Most of the skeletons just look at him with disgust. “This is the creature that was close to the human you killed. She’s also the one that covered the city in flora. Quite beautiful if you ask me, I mean the flora of course.” Rory quickly corrects himself as a red blush starts to form on his skull. Crimson laughs quietly at his brother before speaking up. “In exchange for u she’s going to let every human in the city live. Aint that great.”
Connor looks confused before sneering at them all. “The hell you talking about? Do you think the government is going to let this slide? They’ll have you demons put back in the mountain. Or better they’ll just kill you all!” He says with a smirk like he has the upper hand. “I’d like to see them try.” Nectar comments as he takes a drag of his cigarette. “I might just be being too curious for my own good. But what are ya going to do with him?” Sans ignores the human to ask Lilac. “I’m going to keep him alive forever… In eternal pain and anguish. I won’t let him rest until he’s a sack of rotten nothing. No emotions and no thoughts… nothing but pain. He’ll be the outlet for all my anger and pain.” She tells him with a dark and evil smile that makes Sans shiver.
Lilac’s form then starts to shift and shrink before settling. The skeletons marvel at her otherworldly yet human appearance. Her tan skin glows radiantly under the sun. Her kinky hair is a dark almost violet color. Her long and majestic antlers sit atop her head. Her red eyes pierce through the human in amusement. Instead of feet and hands she has her hooves and paws. Her long bushy tail moves lazily behind her. She’s covered in a light flowy shirt that stops at her thighs. Elegantly she raises her paw and snaps her claws together.
Stolas, who is perched on a tree, flys down towards Lilac. He then turns into a bundle of feathers that keeps growing. When it reaches a size of 7 feet the feathers start to fly away. What is left behind is a tall anthro raven dressed in extravagant clothes. He looks only mildly interested in the whole situation. “Stolas.” Lilac calls to her familiar in a firm tone. “Master. How may I be of service?” He responds instantly with a swift bow. His voice sounds elegant and seductive, charming many of them. “Send him to the ‘Terror’ and then call my brother.” She tells him in an authoritative tone while staring down the human. “Yes Mistress.” Stolas says before kissing her paw elegantly.
When Stolas turns to the man he smiles sinisterly. “If only I had the honor of playing with you.” He says in false sadness before reaching for the human. Connor yells and struggles as Stolas grabs him by his ropes. Stolas lets him squirm for a bit but soon becomes annoyed. A portal straight from hell appears under Connor. The noises from the portal could give anyone nightmares. Claws of all kinds reach from the portal to drag the sinner down. Connor screams and begs as he is pulled into the portal. When he is finally gone Stolas says farewell to his mistress. He then falls backwards into the portal. As he descends down the portal closes behind him.
Everyone stands in silence for a bit, still processing what they just witnessed. “So.. about the city.” Sans breaks the silence nervously. “The flora is gone, but If I have to deal with any more armed humans… let’s just say I won’t be hiding in the forest anymore.” She says while glancing at Sans from the corner of her eyes. “..I understand, I’ll make sure to get the human government under control.” Sans responds while scratching the back of his neck nervously. “For the humans sake, let’s hope u do.” She says with a threatening smile.

The skeletons are now deciding on what to do with the dead bodies. As they discussed amongst themselves Lilac is sitting near Lilia. Sky sees how sad she looks and goes over to her.“.. If you ever want it I can help you through your grief. Going through something like this alone is hard for anybody. And talking to someone about it can help.” He offers as he fidgets with his bandana. “... Thank u for the offer.. but I’m good. I don’t know you enough to share my feelings. I’d have to have a level of trust for that.” She tells him honestly while looking at Lilia. “I understand, I’d like to come tomorrow if that’s ok. Just to keep you company.” Sky says while looking up at her in hope.
Lilac looks at him silently before speaking. “Do whatever.” She says simply. Sky decides to stay quiet as it seems she doesn’t really want to talk. After a moment Lilac’s horns glow. The bed of flowers Lilia is one is lowered to the ground. Then Gardenias, Gladiolus, Hydrangeas, Pansies and lastly Lilacs are grown over Lilia. Sky watches as Lilac lowers her head to the grave. She sheds a few tears which turn some of the flowers blue. After she pays respect to her lost friend she turns to leave. Sky watches as she disappears behind some trees. He then turns towards the grave and pays his respect before walking back to the others.
Little did Sky know that that would be the last time he saw Lilac for some time.
Notes:
Finally, we're at the end of part 1. Now I gotta figure out what to do with the next part. I already have 3 chapters done for it so hopefully I won't run into any problems.
