Chapter 1: Prologue: In the Age of Early Awakening

Chapter Text

Resurrection... and reincarnation was an ambiguous concept created by human.

Perhaps it's because the concept itself. That was so dubious for someone who hasn't experienced death.

Especially when they have the viewpoint, that life just only once experience. After that, there was no resurrection.

It's just that concept be broken by religionists. It may also be broken by humans who have great expectations.

As the human expectation, when it comes to dealing with 'Observers'. Maybe using the Observer for the title of the 'Almighty' makes it an easy was to describe.

But as researchers, we have to create something similar. Have to make it real or we will become extinct.

You know, one of our fears? Yep... the mass extinction.

Extinction will end everything. It can also be called the end of a people.

That's why we formed a mineral that can do wonders against this 'Observer'.

The mineral was called Originium. As one of the researchers, I had hopes for the existence of this mineral.

This would never have happened, if the Priestess had not giving me support to create originium.

At least I know that this mineral can fight the 'Observer' as well as reshape the Terra civilization order.

I mean with the 'Observer' lose was the emphasize on defense human existence.

In other words, resurrecting all humans after the 'war with Observer' was the main purpose for this mineral creation.

It should be, and must became success.

But that visual changed when I discovered a shocking fact.

Terra's situation has already changed, even beyond my expectations.

I don't know what happened when I'm doing a long time sleep on the sacorfagus for the first time.

After Kal'tsit woke me up from a long sleep, i had many deep questions. I seek answers to this unique results of my research with the Priestess.

Because I found this Terra world changing to the emergence of a new civilization.

No... perhaps more accurately, the emergence of a new creature that I cannot explain.

An anomaly with many humanoid races, uniquely merged with animal identities.

Have the animals of the world mutated? Are they evolving?

All of them shouldn't exist.

Unless something happened when I fell asleep. But I don't know what happened after my deep sleep.

Even Kal'tsit seems like to avoid my questions. With her excuse that she wanted to focus, on finding medicine and treatmen for a disease called oriphaty.

I also find this disease was very strange. I mean... when i know the mineral originium should not be intended to become a mass virus.

This phenomenon make me realize, I'm have no power over everything in this world.

My abilities are limited, and phenomena will not be spared by causality.

At least I have purpose for now. I have to find a way for this world resident to be cured.

Until when I met Queen Sarkaz Theresa for the second time.

When I was shown a field of flowers that was so beautiful with the yellow blooming color.

Theresa regarded it as an ideal dream for her. Wishing that the land of Kadzel have a landscape of captivating beauty, with citizens who were not seen as lowly bounty hunters.

I think that dream... will fail, and that will always became a painful failure.

Just like when Priestess had an ideal hope, to maintain human civilization. What result for our experiment? A failure.

History would repeat itself, and failure will continue to follow... again.

No matter how much I argue with my pessimists trait, this person will never abandon her beliefs.

Only one thing I can say to her.

“I will let you dream, but I will not support your dreams either. Let me find a cure for terra society, then I will not interfere with what you dream of.”

I know it's like an asshole, I know she wants me to support her. But I can't betray... my extinct race.

I can't let the Priestess' determination will be broken any further, just because I'm allowed another dream from another person.

I'm just only move on from the past, and let the people from the next generation doing what they want.

Let me be called an bastard, let me be called an idiot.

Because I was unable to protect everything, because I am just a selfish human being who can only reach something in front of me.

Even so, yhere was no complaint in her heart, nor on her face except just smiled she's giving.

I still remember her words at that time.

She said "Thank you, at least you are fighting for the Terra people recovery. It's enough to do as usual, you already helped me, Doctor." With her grapping on my hand, with her gentle eyes.

I didn't expect that. I thought she wanted me to be a pioneer or something.

But for this moment, I'm very thankful that she doesn't expect too much. Although my hands are already full of burdens.

Truly, I have faced formidable obstacles. Thinking of my failure to awaken the people of my time makes my mind almost chaotic.

In the end, everything I did with the Priestess was an experiment. It's not something that absolutely to be a miracle.

Therefore, what can do for now was to find a cure for the oriphaty. For the better future, for the next generation.

If it goes smoothly, then I am very grateful.

Although the reality was bitter. Every history will repeat itself, when the intelligent beings have an existence on any world exist.

****

War broke out between the Kadzel continents, due to differences opinions and ideal visions.

I don't like this situation, I'm very hate this.

Why is it always like this, why are they doing this useless thing.

Just because difference viewpoint, they want to sacrifice many things. Destroying things that should not be destroyed.

Their nature... what's different from the 'Observers' that my generation feared. Everything even looks the similar, and the only difference was the scale of destruction.

I was dragged into the civil war now. This happened because I have an indirect relationship with Babel.

Because of this event, I got into an argument with a partner. Arguing with whom we had a long relationship.

I suggested parting ways with Theresa, separating Babel into two camps. I don't want the citizens and children to be victimized by the stupidity of the two Kadzel leaders.

But she didn't want it, saying that it would make things worse. Arguing that it would instead became a disaster if Babel broke apart from within.

Was I wrong to prioritize the safety of someone who had nothing to do with the war. Or did I make the wrong decision.

Wasn't she the one who asked me to provide help, in finding treatment for oriphaty.

Didn't you ask me to help you... Kal'tsit?

I think you found yourself, so you can refute my opinion.

Then I met the other leader of Kadzel, Theresis. The king who owned half of Crown.

I talked to him about how to destroy Babel. At least so that I could deconstruct Babel when my plan became success.

This is a safe way to keep innocent citizens out of a pointless war, and put an end to all the foolishness the two leaders have created.

But what he asked for... so disturbing.

Theresis... he asked for her sister's life, rather than invite her to cooperate.

His reason may be a bit paranoid. Saying that as long as she exists, Babel will stands no matter what.

Welp, not that I don't understand. Especially when looking at Theresa's high-dreaming nature.

In the end, he asked me to surrender... voluntarily. Let Theresa be killed, and watch Babel crumble alongside her.

With me being abandoned after that secret meeting, I... can't take it anymore. I've put up with enough of their bastardization and selfishness.

Then I had a plan, which no one expected.

Although I still work in the Babylon facility, but I'm also doing something else.

One thing I must do... One thing I must do.

Using the power, similar when Theresa doing demonstration. An amazing, yet terrifying creation power.

Because she had created something beautiful, because she could do it... when she didn't know the actual function of the originium mineral.

Studying all the research, questioning all the unknowns, estimating all the possibilities.

Eventually something will be created, which will stop the war.

At least I hope so.

Although I lack the skill to control this power, and indeed I have no right to curdle it.

Because what I created... was nothing but emptiness. An emptiness that will swallow existence.

****

"Towards the past, you've became the "Me" who you despised."

I say, knowing that only death or fortune is what I face now.

Puddles of blood were on the soles of my feet, my palms grasped swords with blackened blood, and the whole scene showed the many corpses of the herd.

"So this is your answer, Doctor. Fight Kadzel alone, and let Babel rise when you declare that Theresa is dangerous," Theresis said.

But you never understand... King in heavy armor. You will never understand, just as your sister will never understand and naive.

"That you are his bloodline brothers. Isn't it only natural that I should eliminate one of them?"

Even though corpses were lying on all sides, Theresis showed no action except silent with gloomy environtment.

"That's why you chose me... to be eliminated, doctor."

"At least I’d let you killing your sister, even though I don't know if it will success or not."

And I hope Therese's plan didn't work out.

The atmosphere quickly became tense, and the surroundings became claustrophobic. Along with the leader of Kadzel, with a sword already drawn.

"Looks like my calculations were wrong. It seems that it is not Theresa who is the obstacle for reuniting Sarkaz people. You are Doctor!! The greater wall for Kadzel unification. You wanted this moment right... wanted the destruction of Sarkaz."

I couldn't help it, but I laughed cruelly. Playing the role of a villain in front of a king.

Abandoning sanity in favor of using my Ego. Making sense and being rational no matter what action i’d take.

Because at the end of the day, what's the point of thinking about another race if your companion was gone from the start?

Whether I become a hero or a villain, it doesn't matter. None of that matters.

"No matter how you interpret it, O demon king. I... the Oracle, will take your life. For the sake of the next generation, I will bear this grudge. Even if you intend to hunt down your sister, then let you go with her. Should not brothers always be together?"

With the Anti-Matter sword that I created, from all the knowledge I learned, and when Theresa show me that flower before, I fought her brother with my wits and my might.

They will not know it, and will not understand.

That behind the creation of this miraculous mineral, which was corroded by the sin of the predecessors.

The sin of hope so that we can protect ourselves from extinction.

In the hope that my generation will be saved, by becoming a memory in this mineral rock.

I am... Samuel the Oracle. The one whose my ancestors sent king Saul. Will end this agony war.

I don't know what's going on with Theresa after this. Maybe because I have nothing to do with this world later.

I'm sorry, Kal'tsit. I cannot help you find the medicine as you wish.

I'm sorry... Priest. I have failed to live up to our expectations.

I failed... to wake up our race. Perhaps this is a victory for the 'Observer'.

Because I failed with the task of awakening my race. So at the very least, I wanted to end it with something resilient.

So let this failure be a lesson for the whole Terra.

That human will not be able to escape death.

Unless God’s will comes.
