Chapter 1: prologue
Chapter Text
In pain and desperation, Shouta clawed his fingers into Oboro's arm and cried out.
The pressure was unbearable. The pain, the worst he had ever felt in his life. It drove him to the brink of madness and brought tears to his eyes.
And it consumed him. He felt himself becoming weaker and weaker and he simply no longer had the strength for this.
Shouta kept shaking his head violently.
„It can't be done! Oboro! The egg is stuck, I ... you promised me everything would be okay! I can't take it anymore!“
„Shhht, you can do it. You're strong. I'm with you! Don't be afraid, everything will be okay! I'll watch over you.“
Oboro placed his hand on Shouta's stomach comfortingly. The demon's seal lit up and as if he had released a blockage, the egg moved a little further and Shouta's vision went black.
A strange mist spread around them. Oboro spoke something in a language the omega didn't understand. He was afraid. He would die here before he even brought the egg into the world. The demon had lied. A human could not carry an egg to term. He had ...
Shouta looked at Oboro hopelessly. He looked into the demon's blue eyes and suddenly his fear faded.
No. Oboro would never lie to him. He trusted him. Oboro had sworn to him that he would not let him die.
Here, in the dreary and cruel world of demons, he would give birth to his child between all the pillars of fire and on the fur cloak of the Demon King.

Chapter 2: demon king
Chapter Text
Shouta had been afraid many times in his life.
As a small child, of the monsters under his bed. As a student, of every test. As a teenager, of his first teenage love. Of trouble with his parents, later, of exams in his medical studies and as a doctor, afraid of every operation in which he might not be able to save a human life.
He loved his job more than anything! But every time he was consumed by the fear of seeing a patient die on the operating table because of his fault.
He was afraid of being an omega. Back then, afraid of his first contact with alphas, of his ex-husband and the divorce, which he still struggles with today.
Afraid of losing his job or a loved one. Of an unplanned pregnancy, of an accident or being killed, of natural disasters ...
All the fears that you have every day as a human being.
But of nothing, absolutely nothing, and never in his life was he as afraid as in that one moment. Fear that was deep in your bones, that paralyzed you and made you freeze. Panic that shut out all thoughts.
The fear of death, the fear of a monster ...
Only now, as he sat on the floor with his eyes wide open, shaking and rigid, like a heap of misery and unable to do anything but stare motionlessly at the being in front of him, did Shouta understand what REAL fear was!
Because what was in front of him was the executioner himself. Death, the doom. The king of demons ...
„You stupid, stupid humans.“
The voice was dark and ominous and sent an unpleasant shiver down Shouta's spine.
He sat in a puddle of blood without really realizing it.
It wasn't his blood. It was the blood of the people who lay torn to pieces on the floor in front of him and looked at him with empty, lifeless eyes.
Fear twisted Shouta's guts and snaked its way up into his mind.
On the wall and on the floor there were pentagrams made of blood. Even in the dark room they glowed an ominous red.
Shards of glass from broken windows and lamps lay on the floor, but the demon didn't even notice when he accidentally stepped on them.
„Really, if I wasn't looking for a traitor hiding in the human world, I would never have let myself be summoned by such a small ritual. You should consider yourself lucky. Your wish has been granted.“
The demon spoke to the severed head in his hand before carelessly throwing it on the floor and then looking at Shouta.
The black-haired man opened his mouth, but no words left his lips. The shock was too deep and his mind couldn't process the whole situation. A thick lump caused his vocal cords to fail.
Shouta simply didn't understand what had happened here! He saw it, but it just didn't make sense in his current state.
He had been on night duty today. This morning they had brought in five patients with strange markings on their skin that no one could explain. They had suddenly all passed out at the same time in the middle of the street.
When Shouta went to check on them a few minutes ago, the patients had come to and drawn two strange pentagrams. With their own blood. One on the wall and the other on the floor.
There were traces of blood all over the room. It was a horrific picture.
They had also set bed covers on fire and thrown them at the pentagram on the floor. And they were mumbling something to themselves in a foreign language the whole time.
Before Shouta could even say anything, the pentagrams suddenly began to glow. An eerie black mist spread through the room and the atmosphere became so oppressive that he felt like he couldn't breathe and couldn't even stand upright. As if an unknown force was crushing him.
Windows and lamps shattered. For a moment, the entire hospital seemed to shake and Shouta immediately felt that something was happening here that was beyond human imagination.
And then suddenly HE appeared.
Blue.
The first thing Shouta noticed was this sky-blue, short, wavy hair that was reminiscent of clouds.
And these absurdly beautiful, blue eyes.
Then wings. Majestic and gigantic and when he opened them, they took up the entire room.
A long, black tail, a necklace made of bones and blue markings on his skin.
He was wearing only a black coat with fur and bones, but was otherwise naked. However, the legs were covered with blue fur that reached up to the hips and covered the most important things. So somehow not completely naked after all?
Tall, much taller than a human, muscular, two impressive horns on the head.
And an aura that constricted your throat and literally smothered you.
Shouta had never believed in demons, but in that moment he knew that he wasn't dreaming.
And that this wasn't just any demon. He just felt it. Not with that presence!
Suddenly he understood!
A sect. A ritual ... and obviously an incantation.
Then it all happened in seconds.
The humans threw themselves reverently at the blue-haired man's feet and worshipped him. They called him the great demon king and themselves his loyal relatives who had waited so desperately for his arrival for so long.
A short, disgusted look from the demon and then he had torn them all to pieces. Just like that! Just in the blink of an eye!
Blood stained the sterile tiles red.
Shock, fear, panic, made Shouta's legs give out, causing him to fall on his butt and stare at the demon, horrified and paralyzed with fear.
He would die here, that was clear to him at that moment.
He would die here just like the other five.
And when the demon turned his attention to him and took a step towards him, Shouta knew that was it for him.
He reflexively made himself smaller and held his arms in front of his head.
A completely useless, silly attempt to protect himself, he knew that, but it was simply a deeply rooted instinct in people when in danger.
The demon would just as easily tear him to pieces, he wouldn't even have time to scream.
Even though he knew he wasn't dreaming, it all felt so surreal! So absurd! He would never have even thought about ever experiencing something like that himself!
How could a life change so drastically in just a few minutes?! He never had anything to do with the occult, so why was he dragged into this?! He only wanted to save people, he was a doctor! Why was he now being punished with death for it?!
Shouta began to panic as the demon grabbed him by the arm and lifted him into the air.
Damn, how much smaller he was than the blue-haired man! It would be child's play for this monster to crush him! It would be no different for him than stepping on a cockroach!
Shouta's breathing became heavier and he narrowed his eyes.
What should he do?! What COULD he do?! There was no escape!
Should he beg for his life?!
As if that would do anything!
He wanted to cry in despair!
He didn't want to die like that!
He really wanted to find a new alpha at some point. A partner who would really love him this time.
He wanted children with all his heart!
He still had to feed the stray cats in front of his house!
And he still had to help sooo many patients!
„Please ... “, Shouta finally breathed anyway and looked pleadingly at the demon.
But the demon only seemed amused and so Shouta knew at that moment that it was pointless.
Sure, as if a demon would listen to a human's pleas. He had never expected that.
„You are not one of my followers.“
That voice. It made Shouta so uncomfortable.
He started to tremble all over again and shook his head.
His arm hurt because he was being held in the air the whole time and his whole weight was hanging on it.
Not that the demon cared. And Shouta himself had much bigger problems at the moment.
Suddenly, however, the demon stopped and looked suspiciously at the black-haired human.
That smell ...
No ...
That couldn't be!
„You're a omega.“, the demon breathed in surprise.
Shouta looked confused at the blue-haired man.
Yes, he was an omega. But what difference did that make to the demon?
Suddenly the blue-haired man began to grin triumphantly, which only made Shouta feel more uneasy.
„I can't believe it! I actually found a rare omega!“
... Rare?
Yes, there weren't many omegas in the world, they made up just five percent of the world's population. But there were still enough „females“. What about normal women?!
„Only rare „females“ like you, who have it as a second sub-gender, can carry demon children. Normal human women can't do that. Only omegas ~ “
Shouta's eyes widened in horror.
Carry children?! What was the demon talking about?!
"Because only omegas are particularly capable of reproduction. It doesn't matter whether it's a man or a woman, but it has to be an omega.“
Somehow Shouta suspected something bad. Even worse than death. And that really had to mean something!
But all his instincts began to warn him.
„You have to know that higher-ranking demons cannot reproduce with each other. If we want an egg, we need one like a human omega.“
He stroked Shouta's stomach with his other hand and the omega became more and more nervous.
His bad feeling got worse and worse and he tried to free himself from the demon's grip. He began to kick and tried to free the demon's hand with his still free hand.
Everything in him screamed for escape.
He had to get out of here! Immediately! Rather die than that!
But he had absolutely no chance.
„How lucky I am! It would be such a shame to kill you. No ... “, the demon whispered, not letting Shouta's escape attempts disturb him in the slightest.
„You'll be my omega!“
And Shouta's facial expressions fell apart because that was exactly what he had suspected and it scared him even more than simply being killed by the demon.

Chapter 3: seal
Chapter Text
Shouta sat in the bathtub, upset. He tore at his hair over and over again. He pulled his legs up and tried to process what had happened. But the images haunted him and wouldn't let go of him. He saw them all the time and couldn't get them out of his head. Those dead people ... all that blood, the pentagrams ... the demon ...
Shouta felt sick and put his hand over his mouth.
It took all his willpower not to throw up in the bath water. He really couldn't do without sitting in his own vomit!
He was still shaking all over and he was freezing, even though he was sitting in the hot water. Everything felt so surreal, he was like in a trance.
He looked at the seal on his stomach and wanted to cry out of frustration. But that wouldn't do him any good, so he held back his tears.
The demon had marked him. As his property. His female. He had pressed his hand on Shouta's stomach, then the omega became terribly warm and he felt strange. As if his body was tearing apart! It hurt and suddenly this seal had appeared on his stomach, the demon's mark. He just meant that now no other demon would dare to take him as his omega.
Shouta didn't know exactly what had happened then, he had been completely beside himself.
Suddenly a raven with two heads had appeared and said something to the blue-haired demon. Then the demon had dropped him and disappeared with the raven.
Had he returned to the demon world?
No, definitely not. After all, he said he was looking for someone in the human world. Then he was probably still here somewhere.
But how did he get here anyway? Through the ritual?
Shouta didn't know anything about any of this, he never had any interest in the occult!
It all still seemed so unreal to him.
And yet it had happened. After all, the seal on his skin was the best proof of that.
So the demon would surely come back at some point. Definitely!
And Shouta couldn't do anything about it. No matter how much he scratched the seal until it bled, it didn't go away.
But as soon as the demon was gone, the real chaos started.
Shortly afterwards, one of his doctor colleagues arrived. Then the police, the forensic department, the hearse ...
He was taken to the headquarters and interrogated. The room had to be cleaned. The whole hospital had been in turmoil and yet nobody believed what Shouta was saying.
Of course! Who would believe something like that?! Rituals, demons! That sounded completely absurd! Shouta wouldn't even believe it himself if he hadn't been there!
He had spent hours in the headquarters, completely at the end of his tether. Traumatized and deeply disturbed.
He was also offered psychological support, but Shouta had turned it down. Even though he was now unsure whether it had really been the right decision, at that moment he hadn't been ready to talk to any psychologist about it.
He didn't get home until around midday. One of the police officers drove him, otherwise he probably wouldn't have made it home in his state of shock.
He was completely exhausted, his nerves were frayed, the images haunted him! All he wanted was to crawl into his nest and sleep!
And yet he knew that today the land of dreams would be denied to him. That his head would not give him any peace.
At some point, however, he at least struggled out of the tub and dried himself off.
His legs were like jelly when he dragged himself into the nest.
He was terribly exhausted and drained, but as expected, he couldn't sleep. No matter how deeply he dug himself into the blankets, sleep eluded him.
He just lay there for hours, before his body just couldn't take it anymore and the past experiences of his last night shift took their toll.
He didn't sleep long, maybe three hours before he woke up again.
It was already getting dark outside.
He looked at the clock. 7:26 p.m.
The director of the hospital had offered him to stay home for a few days and get some rest, but Shouta didn't want to take that long. His patients needed him!
And work would be a better distraction than being home alone.
It wasn't until the next morning that he came out of the nest again and had calmed down a bit.
The events were still on his mind, you don't experience something like that every day, but at least he had processed it a bit and cleared his head a little. He could now think about it all more objectively and calmly.
He ate a little something and then sat down at his laptop with a coffee, wearing a comfortable hoodie and cozy pants.
He sat down on the floor in front of the couch and put the laptop on his lap. Bent his legs and leaned against the cushion behind him.
He never thought he would research something like this, but he was looking for information about the demon ritual from that fateful night.
Unfortunately, he wasn't sure what was really true. A lot of it was nonsense, that was clear.
But if what some people wrote was true, then powerful demons couldn't just enter the human world without being summoned. Small, lesser demons could, however.
Well, it made sense. If demons like the one yesterday could just walk here at will, humanity would have perished long ago.
This blue-haired demon said he was looking for a traitor.
Then someone had summoned this traitor too?
But not every demon was known and worshipped. So how did these demons get here?
/They sense people's negative feelings and can talk to them. They charm and seduce them so that they can be brought into the human world with a ritual. Demons are masters at manipulating people./
Shouta took a sip of his coffee while he read the report on the Internet.
Yes, there were many people who, on the verge of desperation, sought help from a demon, for a variety of reasons. Sometimes even just out of curiosity.
Or stupid worship like the guys yesterday.
Did they even have any idea what they had unleashed on their world?! How could they be so stupid?! Since they obviously knew about the subject, they really should have known better!
Although there was nothing in the news about a demon on the loose.
Demons had probably been living among them for a long time. They just never knew it before because they were never aware of it. And because probably not everyone could perceive these beings.
Okay. How they got in was one thing, but how did you get rid of them again?! How did you remove strange seals and how could you send them back to their world?!
Should he hire an exorcist?!
And why did demons want to go to the human world in the first place?! Why didn't they stay in their own world?! Did they want something clichéd, like people's souls and stuff like that?!
A sudden ringing at his door unexpectedly tore Shouta out of his thoughts.
He raised an eyebrow skeptically, put the laptop on the floor and stood up.
It was just the postwoman.
But just seeing that there was another letter from his divorce lawyer ...
As if he didn't have enough problems with a damn demon right now! No, the divorce dragged on forever because his ex didn't want to finally let him go and just wouldn't agree to the divorce!
And that drove Shouta crazy!
Yes, he had made the mistake of marrying this person ... but now he wanted nothing more to do with him! Why couldn't he just leave him alone?!
Another appointment with the lawyer. Another conversation.
Shouta was so tired of it!
How many more conversations?! Hadn't he made his position clear enough?! He wanted a divorce and that was it! He never wanted to go back to this violent asshole!
Frustrated, he carelessly threw the letter onto the kitchen counter and then wanted to sit down at his laptop again, only to freeze in shock again when, all of a sudden, that demon from yesterday was back in his living room!
Completely out of nowhere!
How was he ... ?!
When?!
The window was broken ...
Why?! Was he ... ?!
Ah, damn it! He hadn't noticed anything at all! Didn't even hear the glass shatter!
„How did you find me?“, Shouta asked nervously and took a few steps back until his back hit the wall in the hallway.
The demon grinned arrogantly.
„Oh, I always find you. After all, you have my seal. You can't hide from me, human.“
For a brief moment, Shouta actually had the absurd hope that the demon would not show up again. That he would no longer be interested in him. That he would have found who he was looking for and left the human world again.
He should have realized that this was completely silly. He knew that the demon would come back.
But what else did he have apart from this stupid hope, which was now completely shattered?!
The demon came closer to him and Shouta pressed himself harder against the wall. But there was no escape.
Fear was written all over his face and he broke out in a cold sweat as the blue-haired man smelled his neck and licked it with his tongue.
The omega began to breathe more heavily, panic lay like a tons heavy weight on his chest and made simply breathing seem incredibly difficult. The demon's aura was unbearable, Shouta felt as if he were trapped in a black mist.
Maybe he was. He had absolutely no idea whether he was really in this mist or whether it just felt that way.
„How good you smell.“, the demon breathed.
„You have no idea how valuable omegas are. How rare. All demons would envy me if they knew I had found one!“, the larger one purred.
„You will carry my child.“
Shouta began to tremble and shook his head violently over and over again.
A cold shiver ran down his spine. The demon's noose wrapped itself around his neck and kept tightening.
There stood a monster in front of him. A hideous creature that he had only read about in books.
His limbs went cold, invisible nails dug into his skin. Every word the demon said burned like poison and just being near the creature robbed his body of all its strength. His heart raced painfully and he knew that the demon could sense his fear, smell it! And probably even enjoy it.
„Please don't.“, the omega breathed in fear.
„As if you had a choice.“, the demon laughed mockingly and ignored the pitiful sound Shouta made when the blue-haired man pressed on his stomach.
He had to be careful! He couldn't destroy his precious female!
What had he done to deserve this?! He had nothing to do with the ritual! HE hadn't summoned the demon! He was just dragged into it, but why?!
Yes, he wanted children. But not like that! Not from a demon! The child should be born out of love! In the normal way with a loving partner!
And now he would only serve as an incubator for a baby, which would probably kill him and which he would get nothing from!
He wanted a family, not this!
Suddenly Shouta got angry.
Demon or not, but this was still his body! His life! No one else had a say in it! The demon couldn't do what he wanted with him!
If he was really that valuable, the demon wouldn't just kill him, would he?
And even if he did! He would rather die than be used as a birthing machine by a demon!
The blue-haired fit the typical image of a demon, selfish and only concerned with himself.
Of course, for a demon, a human life was no more valuable than that of a fly. But for humans, it was the only life they had and Shouta would not let it be destroyed in this way!
„Don't touch me!“, Shouta suddenly growled and tried to push the bigger one away from him.
It was no more than if a mouse pushed an elephant. That would move a rock more.
It took all of Shouta's courage to rebel against the demon now, but he did not want to simply accept this fate!
„Find someone else who will give you a child! With a filthy demon, I'm definitely not going to ha ... “
Shouta broke off when he was suddenly lifted into the air by his throat and kicked his legs desperately. The air was cut off from him. Shouta gasped in shock but couldn't get enough into his lungs.
„You're forgetting your position, human! I've already told you that it's not your decision. You humans don't ask your livestock whether they want to reproduce or not? So why should we ask ours?“
The demon's voice was so cold that Shouta immediately felt that fear of death gnawing at him again.
The bigger one had a point. Why did humans think they were more valuable than other living beings? Did they take the right to decide on them?
The demon let him go.
Shouta landed on the ground, grabbed his neck, gasped for air and coughed heavily.
He was already dizzy and his vision was black. It was almost too late.
And yet ... STILL! He wasn't livestock!
Frustrated, he dug his fingers into the ground and made a desperate noise.
„Demons aren't exactly known for being particularly friendly, so don't try my patience.“, the blue-haired man warned, demonstratively flicking his tail against the ground.
Yes. This was a demon. Demons were monsters. Cold-blooded and merciless. They couldn't love. They couldn't have compassion. Shouta couldn't expect any human feelings from him.
The demon wouldn't let him out of his clutches, precisely because he was a demon and people were worthless trash to these creatures.
But he didn't want to! He couldn't stand all this!
What had he done to deserve this?! First his asshole ex-husband and now a demon too?! Why did life hate him so much?!
Suddenly his hair was grabbed and his head was roughly pulled up.
„What's your name, human?“
Shouta was silent and bit his lower lip.
The demon growled angrily. He clearly didn't like the little human daring not to answer him!
„What's your name?!“, he repeated his question irritably.
Did the omega have to live in this constant fear now? Would the fear eat away at him more and more?
„Shouta!“, he finally pressed out.
„Shouta.“, repeated the demon and let go of the omega.
Then looked down at the human.
„Shouta.“, he repeated again thoughtfully, listening to the sound of the name on his tongue and then smiling contentedly.
Demons were incapable of feelings, Shouta had to keep that in mind, then he wouldn't have any false hopes that the demon might take pity on him and release him.
Actually, Shouta didn't even blame the blue-haired man. Because he was a demon. It was just in their nature. It wasn't his fault that he was the way he was and couldn't act against his nature.
Nevertheless. Was there really nothing he could do about it?! Was all he could really do was accept this cruel fate?!
