the Mercenary of the Ilse

Summary:

Luz Noceda is sent off the her aunt because Camila can't fanatically handle caring for Luz. However when Luz meets her aunts co-workers things quickly snowball out of control.

Chapter 1: Meet The Team

we see a white Chevrolet P10 Step Van with 'Red Bread' branded on the sides drive on the highway, exiting Gravesfield Connecticut with very large man around 6'3" and wearing a red short sleeved shirt with a brown sleeveless vest driving and a skinny  5'8" man wearing the same type and color shirt sitting asleep in the passenger.

A ringtone would go off as the large man shoved the skinnier man awake as he answered the call "he Ms Pauling, we got her and are heading to the forward base" the skinny man said as he accepted the call on the main console "ok scout, see you their. how is she by the way?" Ms Pauling asked as suddenly a 5'9" man in red solder like attire burst though the back door leading out of the cab "hello Ms Pauling, Luz is doing fine, she's asleep now" the man stated as Ms Pauling sighed "alright, I'll see you three at the main base, Pauling out" Ms Pauling said before the call ended, the man wearing red solder-like attire diapered back into the rest of the step van.

1 hour later

the van would arrive at a random spot in the forest as it'd drive into a hidden entrance way before stopping. Scout, the big man and the man in red solder like clothes got out with a the big man cradling a small girl that looked to be around 5 years old with tan skin and dark brown hair. they headed deeper into the base as the kid would wake up "hm? where am I?" they questioned tiredly "were still going to your aunt little one" the big man carrying her said gently as they arrive in a room with a red teleporter.

Scout would step on the teleporter and in a flash be teleported to the main base. Once the teleporter recharged the man with the red solder like attire stepped on and teleported to the main base as the big man would gently put down the girl he was carrying who was in aw at the teleporter "now little one, it's your turn" the man said as the girl stepped onto the teleporter and a moment later she was now in a different room with a woman she instantly recognized "Aunt Pauling!" the girl yelled happily as she ran and hugged the woman who kneeled down "hehe, hey their my little light" Ms Pauling said as she hugged the girl back "now Luz, lets get you to your room ok?" Ms Pauling said as Luz nodded before following Ms Pauling who led her to her room "will I be able to see mom aunt Pauling?" Luz asked as Ms Pauling looked at he and smiled "of course Luz, you mom is just busy right now and asked me to take care of you" Ms Pauling explained to Luz  who was getting her room set up "thier are a couple of teammates who live here that'll help me take care of you, ok?" Ms Pauling stated after a few moments as Luz nodded as she finished putting everything away "can I meet them aunt Pauling?" Luz asked as Ms Pauling smiled "of course my little niece" Ms Pauling said as she guided Luz to the main lounge where 9 people were doing various things "oh hey Ms Pauling, who's this little one?" a man wearing a yellow hard had and goggles asked, his voice having a distinct Texan accent as Ms Pauling chuckled "she's the niece of mine I've told you all about Dell" Ms Pauling said as Dell looked at Luz "well ain't she just the cutest thing ain't she" Dell commented as Luz blushed, a bit embarrassed "well I need to go, have a good day Ms Pauling and little one" Dell said before walking past them "he was nice" Luz commented as Ms Pauling nodded

"well you already know who Solder, Scout and Heavy are, the man with the eye patch is Tavish (demo man), the man in the lab coat is Ludwig(medic), the man with the mask is spy, the man with the hat is Mundy (sniper) and the person in the suit and mas is pyro" Ms Pauling explained to Luz who nodded "ok aunt Pauling" Luz said before going to scout

 

Chapter 2: The merc and the warden

9 years later

Luz was hanging around the main base as the team was out doing the usual capture the flag mission on 2fort as she cleaned some of her weapons as she reflected on the 9 years she's been with the mercenaries

an 8 year old Luz was with scout, having convinced the mercs to teach her how they fight adn finished being taught by heavy, spy and engineer "ok, um, lets start with this" Scout stammered before handing her a pellet gun before setting some of his empty bonk cans on a ledge "just hit them, alright?" Scout stated as Luz nodded "ok cousin scout" and shot almost all the cans without missing "whoa, you got some aim slugger" scout complemented as Luz smiled

Luz finished cleaning her primary weapon, a custom rifle with the ability to shoot many different ammo types with a scope which allowed her to engage anyone at any distance. Luz was about to reach for her hat that was a gift from her uncle Mundy but it wasn't there "huh where did it-" Luz began but stopped once she seen a small owl with a big sack of items holding onto it "hey! Give that back!" Luz yelled as she chased the small owl who managed to avoid her until it reached a weird looking door and hopped through it, Luz quickly following behind them but quickly realized that she wasn't in the base anymore, "what the-" Luz began ash she looked around, spotting many different and weird things "Finally, your back" a female voice called out from outside the tent, Luz quietly sneaked to the tent entrance to see a woman with pale skin and greyish white hair, wearing a red dress and a rag covering her hair and part of her ears along with the owl who perched on a staff as the woman turned them, the owl turning to wood "now lets see here, Garbage, Garbage, garbage. Oh, now this, this will make me rich!" the woman said as she pulled out random things before pulling out a pair of novelty glasses "and this is trash" the woman said as she pulled out Luz's hat before throwing it away, Luz catching it "now just who are you" the woman said seeing Luz "a person your owl stole this hat from" Luz stated as she looked at the woman "oh? but you weren't using it were you human?" the woman asked as Luz looked at her

"well your definitely got me stumped on what you are" Luz said, Looking at Eda, knowing she isn't human but not wat she'd be "oh child, I'm a witch!" the woman explained as she took of the rag covering her ears revealing them to be pointed "ya, never herd of you before, crud" Luz commented "I'm Eda the Owl Lady, the most powerful witch on the Boiling Isles! I'm feared, respected-" Eda continued but was unerupted by a huge being with a conical mask smashing their fist against the table "busted!" the guard yelled as the citizens fled "Eda the Owl Lady, you are wanted for misuse of magic and demonic misdemeanors" the guard stated as they held up a wanted poster of Eda. Luz had just put on her hat when the guard grabbed her arm "And you're coming too for fraternizing with a criminal" the guard announced as Luz looked at him with a menacing expression "you got 10 seconds to put me down" Luz stated coldly, as the guard flinched but didn't put her down "you don't scare me, what are you gonna do, tickle me to death?" the Guard teased as Luz looked at them "deus invictus" Luz chanted "what- arg!" the guard  tried to ask what Luz said meant only to have a giant boxing glove hit them and send them flying a good bit away, knocked out "well lets get out of her before whatever you did to him stops" Eda said as she quickly put all her stuff inside a rag and had it at the end of her staff as she grabs Luz and takes off "whoa!" Luz yells as they fly up "calm down kid, ya wont fall off" Eda said as Luz stopped yelling

"so kid, what was that little trick you used, I didn't know humans knew magic, sounded runic" Eda asked after a moment "it was a gift from uncle Merasmus, he gave me a book full of spells for my 10th birthday" Luz explained as Eda continued to fly the staff. They'd arrive at the owl house as Eda's hand would still be attached to the staff "um, miss Eda, your hand" Luz said getting Eda's attention as Eda grabbed and reattached her hand "thanks kid, that always happens at the most unsuspecting times" Eda complained as Luz followed her to the entrance of the owl house as a bird tube came out of the door "Hoot-hoot! Password, please!" the bird thing said in a voice that reminded Luz of what the Blu spy head says to hear every time she opens her uncle Ludwig's fridge but Luz had a it of si9mpathy of the bird tub thing when Eda poked it eyes "We got no time for this, Hooty. Let us in." Eda demanded "All right, all right! Geez! You never want to have any fun! Ow! Hoot!" Hooty said before opening his mouth, encompassing the entire door as Eda and Luz walked in, Hooty closing his mouth and burping one they entered "welcome to, the owl house" Eda presented as she snapped her fingers, making everything light up and all the magical appliances start "where I hide away from the pressures of modern life. Also the cops. Mm, also ex-boyfriends" Eda stated as Luz chucked "well anyway, I know your type Eda, what do you want from me?" Luz said as she got serious, Eda being put on edge from being read so easily

"seams you aren't as dumb as the other people who've I've faced" Eda said, her tone a bit more serious "anyway, I need you to help get a crown for me, it's behind a barrier only humans can get through" Eda explained as Luz thought about it, her mind going to one of her lessons with her uncle spy "how much" Luz said confusing Eda "huh, what do you mean how much?" Eda asked as she looked at luz, getting an Idea of what she was asking but wasted it confirmed "how much are you going to pay me for doing this job for you?" Luz clarified as Eda looked at her "isn't your return to the human realm payment enough" Eda asked as Luz didn't show any reaction, just staring at Eda silently "your a tough sell kid, I both respect and hat you for that, you can collect anything from the pile of confiscations and get your portal home to the human realm" Eda relented after a few minutes "deal, just know that any blood spilled is payed for" Luz stated crypticity as she reached her hand out, Eda against her better judgment to ask what she meant shook Luz's hand as suddenly their was some stomping sounds coming form the hallway "Who dares intrude upon I, the king of demons" a small demon with slightly purplish dark gray fur, save for his stomach and the tip of his tail, which are mauve in color and the bone skull a top his head spoke, his voice being similar of that to a toddlers "well King this human agreed to help us retrieve your crown" Eda stated as King got exited "really?! well then it seams then I'll see to that this human is given a higher spot in my gauds when I return to power" King said excitedly at first before coughing into his hand before continuing, trying to hide his excitement

"Well Eda, just drop me off at the place you need time to retrieve this crown and I'll get it back to you within the hour, or you can cut the extra part of our deal off" Luz stated as Eda looked at her, your serious kid? The Conformatorium isn't an easy place to get into normally" Eda stated as Luz chuckled "well your talking to the 10th best mercenary in to the human realm" Luz stated as Eda looked at her a bit shocked "wait a minute kid, your a merc?" Eda asked, hiding her shock "yes I am, now lets get this done with" Luz stated as she brought out her primary weapon and loaded some shotgun slug rounds into it "whoa kid, that some human tec or something?" Eda asked as Luz nodded "yes, now lets go" Luz stated as Eda took her to the conformatorium

At the conformatorium, Eda dropped Luz off "no killing, that's my only condition" Eda stated before leaving. Luz took out her bat and found a guard that was returning from their patrol, quickly adding them to the disguise kit, Luz silently knocked them out and hid their body before disguising as them and infiltrating the conformatorium. Luz easily got passed the guards, showing that she had an Item that needed to be added to the pile of confiscation. As she reached the room Luz silently undisguised and activated her invisibility watch, the cloak and dagger as she quietly entered the light beam surrounding the pile of confiscated item and quickly grabbed the burger queen crown. Luz then used her disguise to exit the conformatorium before heading back to where Eda said to meet her, disguising as she reached the area "sup kid, that was smooth, not going to deny that" Eda said, surprised at how well luz managed to infiltrate the conformatorium, she knew the guards were dumb but not that dumb "here's the crown" Luz stated as she gave Eda the burger queen crown as Eda took them back to the owl house

this is just an extra fic to help kill my writers block, don't expect good or long chapters. I'll come back and revise the story once I finally get some extra time
