Chapter Text
It was a normal day for a household full of proxies. They wandered off and about from the active hallways to doorways by doing their own thing after completing their assigned tasks given by Slenderman.
Trapped screams from the distance below can be heard where people would most likely not want to check out: the basement. Locked in its current state, a terrified man tied in a chair was shaking rapidly — his disheveled appearance making him seem like an obvious victim.
A man behind a blue mask, who was known as Eyeless Jack or EJ, was behind the unbearable tortures taken out on the poor, pathetic man as he decided to ask him a question about a certain target’s whereabouts.
”Where did you last seen her?”
He forcefully held a picture of a woman, who wore a black suit, in front of the tied man as he kept his knife close to his neck expecting an answer.
”I-I-It’s none of your business! I won’t tell you anything!” The man stuttered in a worried manner as if he was close to shitting himself or something.
Jack wasn’t going to accept keeping this man shut and being left empty-handed afterwards without a word. So, without hesitation, he deeply shoved his weapon down on one of the man’s arms where his flesh was freshly open as blood quickly spilled out of him while trying to get him to talk that was followed by his loud groans from the sharp stings of pain to shrieks of terror.
”.. Surely you do know something about her, right? Unless you want me to go after the ones you hold dearly..”
He allowed blood to quickly gush out of the man’s arm as if the painful feeling from the knife was going to end him in a flash, but the man’s screams helped him bear with it for only a while. Barely, to say the least.
”.. S-Somewhere in Augusta city! That’s all!”
The man in a blue mask already had enough of him and decided to end him off now after gathering such little to no info at all by slitting his throat, which lead to rapid leaks of blood — iron filling the air as he heaved a huge sigh of either stress or relief — which was also to say ‘farewell, useless piece of shit.’
The atmosphere of the room was surrounded in gloom, peripherals clouded with shadows, as a young man looked at his strange face in a scratched and dirty mirror.
He personally thought to himself if he was ‘beautiful’ — over the modifications that he has made to his entire face, especially his noticeable carved smile, and the countless sticks he has illustrated onto his fragile, ghost-like skin that helped him a lot with math, in which he hid.
”Another stupid dream..” He thought to himself with an obvious answer. And he continued having other dreams as he lies asleep.
A pale young man with medium black hair was resting soundly under a shady tree, which swayed lightly from the cool breeze passing by every second. It made him feel more relaxed and undisturbed from his heavenly nap.
Making it even more relaxing, he had a sleeping mask on that covered his eyes completely to help him sleep better away from the sun possibly burning his eyes, as he no longer has eyelids. He had a comic lying on his lap that has been left untouched since his snoozing. He also kept his earbuds on to listen to music while reading.
During his nap time left alone in peace, a voice of a young girl could be heard from the distance that possibly came from the house’s backyard, which was nearby the area where he’s currently resting in as he was facing it. She called out the young man’s name as if she is trying to grab his attention that seemed to be something urgent.
“.. Jeff.. Jeff! Jeff!”
Although the young girl yelled out his name more than once, he was unable to be woken up from his nap as both the wind and his earbuds playing music seemed to have blocked out her voice completely. He sure was in deep sleep.
The young girl in a dirty pink dress now approached him up close to where they were both underneath the shady tree that was away from the sunny sky. She placed down a picnic basket that she carried all the way from the house. She then tried to wake up the sleeping man one last time by calling out his name once again.
”Jeff! I knew you’d be here!”
The young man was slowly waking up from his nap as he felt someone’s presence near him — groaning from the sudden interruption while trying to be aware of his surroundings as he adjusted his entire body. He lifted his sleeping mask up to see who approached him.
“.. What is it? ..” He asked in a sleepy tone, feeling a bit confused.
As the young girl brought her attention to him, she continued talking to him and gave him enough time to be aware of his surroundings.
”It’s me, Sally! Hehe!” She laughed after finishing her sentence. Her look seemed happy as always whenever she talks with one of the proxies.
“Oh, Sally.. It’s just you.. Sorry, I was taking a nap.”
Feeling confident as always to speak to him, Sally went straight to the point that was related to Jeff having to deal with an important task.
”Mr. Slendy Man told me to come get you for something important! Are you ready?”
Even though he wanted to continue napping some more, he gave her a certain response. In the inside, though, he feels unwilling to do so due to a lack of motivation with low energy taking over him.
”Ugh.. Yeah, guess so.. Just give me a moment..” He said lazily with an obvious frown on his face.
Jeff yawned and stretched his arms afterwards to loosen his muscles up as one of his earbuds fell off from his ear. Young Sally smiled regardless of his tone of voice and began to gently place down a picnic blanket near Jeff — leading him to wonder what she was trying to do.
She then opened the picnic basket that she brought to take out a pink tea set fit for a princess, some delicious snacks, and a few drinks she brought to pour as ‘tea’ — maybe for pretend to hold out your pinky to.
“I hope you don’t mind me having tea parties here.” Sally said with a bit of concern whether Jeff was fine or not over whatever childish play she was up to.
Jeff seemed to get the picture now on what she was doing, leaving him to chuckle lightly. He didn’t mind her holding tea parties near his safe haven as long as he isn’t part of it and they’re not held here constantly.
“As long as I’m not part of your girly tea parties that will be held here daily that’s for sure..”
He said with a relaxed tone of voice, followed by his humor directly stating that he was unwilling to be a part of it. So he allowed her to do so anyway as he continued reading his comic book for a bit without feeling bothered by her presence.
“Okay! Before you go, I brought some sandwiches that would fill you up! It’s totally not part of the tea party! Hehe..” Her last sentence hinting a bit of mischief.
She handed a triangle-shaped sandwich to Jeff, willingly taking it from her hand as he gave his thanks, and poured some orange juice on two tea cups to wash it down afterwards. He was feeling hungry right now, so he decided to just eat along with her.
“Sure, I don’t mind I guess..”
As they started munching on their meals, Sally placed down her teddy bear on the picnic blanket as she created a pretend conversation between her and her teddy bear by pretending to feed him a sandwich and giving him a drink.
”Hello Mr. D, would you like a sandwich?“
”Of course! I’m really hungry!”
”Are you thirsty as well?”
”Yes I am! I’m parched!”
As Sally was off on her own world playing tea party with her teddy bear, Jeff finished his sandwich and quickly drank his orange juice by gulping it all down. He then looked at his wristwatch to see that it’s time for him to go.
”Hey, thanks for the meal, but I think I need to get going now. Have fun with your tea party and don’t stay alone out here for too long, yeah?”
“Or else the wolves will come out to get you.. Hehe..” He said to her in a concerned manner, but obviously hinted with humor to scare her with tease as he stood up, gently caressing her head while wearing a genuine smile.
”Okayy I will.. Good luck though!”
And he went off, carrying his comic on his side as he tucked in his portable cd player and earbuds in the pocket of his hoodie as he said his goodbyes to Sally while walking over to the house he lives in.
Jeff entered from the backyard, sliding open the glass door as he was greeted by a red husky with a similar smile to his, whom is known as Smile Dog, barking happily to his presence. Jeff crouched down to caress him as he quickly gave him sloppy, loving kisses that made him laugh over the ticklish feeling.
*Barks happily*
”Hey boy, c’mere!”
The feeling of being caressed made Smile Dog even more happy to see Jeff. He then got up, sliding back the door behind him, as he made his way to the long hallway where Slenderman’s office was to his left. Smile Dog then returned to his usual spot that was beside the backyard door.
He stood in front of the door trying to turn the doorknob but noticed it was locked, so he knocked on the door three times to get a response behind this room, tapping his foot on the floor with his hands in his pockets.
The hallways seem empty and quiet, similar to what he’s standing in front of. After a few moments of silence, he heard rustling and movement coming from the door that finally came with a response — upon hearing the door being unlocked.
”Come in.” A mans voice was heard that allowed Jeff to enter the room.
Jeff entered the room — closing the door behind him — to speak with a very tall, slender man sitting on an office chair who looked really pale as a ghost just like him, except he was faceless.
”Hey Slender, what’d you call me for?” He asked in his usual but casual tone — tucking his hands in his hoodie pockets while waiting for a response.
Slenderman had both of his hands resting on his chin that made him seem quite calm but serious. He politely ordered him to sit down on one of his office chairs. Does Jeff seem to be in trouble? He has his doubts, but only one way to find out, he thought to himself.
”Please, have a seat. I want us to discuss your last solo mission.”
He took a seat as Slenderman started their discussion about crime-related tasks, trying to listen through all that Slender has said, even though it bored him to the core.
“Around 5 days ago, I sent you on a mission to get more food supplies from delivery trucks without any witnesses, evidence, and taking too much for anyone to feel suspicious of.”
Slender took out a sheet of paper that looked like a report, probably about Jeff’s performance from his last mission, and examined it for a bit.
”Did I do well? Or did I fuck up?”
Slender was still examining his report for a bit while trying to answer Jeff’s questions with complete honesty.
“You did alright it seems..” He said without being able to finish his sentence as he was cut off by Jeff’s sudden interruption to boast.
So, feeling full of himself, Jeff was left continuing their conversation with his own silly remarks while Slender was trying to keep himself together.
“I know, I know — I did an amazing job. I almost got caught, but man they didn’t even think twice. They looked confused as hell and-“
Before he could say anything further, he was cut off by Slenderman to finish his last sentence he couldn’t say.
“That you closely brought me disappointment..”
After hearing those words, Jeff tried to process whatever he just said, which left him feeling confused and thinking that he failed his last mission completely. It was a few seconds of silence until he gave an answer to break it off.
“.. So you’re saying I fucked up?.. W-Why? How?…”
Without hesitation, Slenderman gave a certain answer to Jeff that completely expresses how he feels towards his last mission.
“The answer is in-between. Jeff, just .. *sigh* Look at this..”
Slender sighed as he made him take a look at a few pictures that he laid on his desk — making it seem like he’s in an interrogation room, but the complete opposite. Jeff knows he’s in trouble alright: one fuck up would make him lose his privileges from Slenderman.
“Thanks to Ben, he was able to go through one of the police station’s systems that hold recent documents that are important..”
One picture shows muddy footsteps on the concrete sidewalk while the other photo shows small locks of black hair stored in a small ziplock bag. Jeff took a closer look at one of the photos with an upsetting look, which made him want to hit himself but instead face palmed over his stupidity.
“Was it raining hard while you were there?” Slender asked, wanting to know how such a mistake was resulted from a somewhat obvious cause.
Looking down at himself, Jeff tried to gather up the courage to speak to him truthfully without making the situation worse between the two of them by thinking how he should tell him.
”You better not think about trying to lie to me. Because if you do.. You already know what happens.” He said with a menacing aura as his tentacles began to act up, which somewhat made Jeff freak out. He either feels a strong kind of fear or he just feels uncomfortable. Maybe a mix of both.
Jeff knows that telling the truth isn’t so bad, but for some reason, he struggles to say it. And even though he does, he took a deep breath and finally gathered up the courage to say his part.
”Yeah.. It rained — really hard. Poured so much to the point that my clothes were all wet.” He wore an annoyed face just by remembering that day. Can’t imagine just running in the rain while not having the right equipment on for it.
After he told the truth, he already feels his heart beating so fast as if he fucked up big time over such a stupid mistake, crossing his arms while keeping his head down to avoid letting his upset face be seen. He hates fucking up. In other words, being a failure.
Although he expected Slender to be extremely mad at what he calls “poor reasoning,” he, however, didn’t seem mad at all as he started gently caressing Jeff’s head that was followed by an apology, which made him slightly flustered, but tried to shake it off his mind.
“My apologies — I understand now. Next time, we’ll try to delay the time for those missions if there is harsh weather like that in our way.”
Jeff nodded his head as an answer. Slenderman wasn’t finished talking with Jeff, so he tried to talk it out with him by reminding him to be careful.
”Next time, you have to be more careful.. You are the most wanted criminal in your town and the government is on the hunt for you.”
”We have new info about Jane’s whereabouts, but not anywhere specific yet ..”
Jeff lifted his head up after hearing of Jane, which lead him to ask about her.
”What about her?”
”Jane is somewhere in Augusta city. We don’t know what she’s up to, so keep a look out for her if you ever go there.”
“‘Kayy..”
Slenderman took out another sheet of paper under his desk to show Jeff. It’s probably for his next mission. Hopefully he won’t screw up again, he thought to himself.
”For your next mission, you will be involved in stealing once again — except, it’ll be a little different.”
Jeff wondered what his next mission was going to be. Will it be too easy? Too hard? Or just right? He’s eager to know right now.
”What is it?”
”You’ll be teamed up with EJ and Ben in this one: three of you must find the recent documents from the nearby police station that includes anything related to Jane.”
”However, Ben will stay in touch with the both of you by walkie talkie so he can take over their systems.”
Jeff hasn’t teamed with anyone for a while, as he’s mostly better off in solo missions where he can just kill and loot people or their properties whenever he wants to. To be honest, he isn’t sure if he’ll perform well with his assigned teammate but it’s worth a try, he thought to himself.
“EJ will be waiting for you in the living room, so make sure you get everything you need ready. You know what to do. Good luck.”
