There were many different creatures in the world, some of them beautiful and graceful, some others horrible totally despicable. Focusing on the last ones there were the demons, beasts that needed to devour humans in order to survive, becoming stronger with each meal and forgetting who they had been to accept their new life. Only the sun or a demon slayer's sword could destroy them.
For their side, the slayers were part of an association not recognized by the government and they dedicated their lives to protect human kind from their claws, seeking to defeat the progenitor of all demons, Muzan Kibutsuji. A being whose reputation was feared and hated by all those who knew the rumors that his bloody shadow and those of his twelve moons left behind.
The demon slayers also had their own legends which held the organization, under the name of pillars, these swordsmen were recognized and respected for having defeated some of the closest demons to Kibutsuji. Their names were Gyomei Himejima Stone Pillar, Kyojuro Rengoku Flame Pillar, Tengen Uzui Sound Pillar, Mitsuri Kanroji Love Pillar, Obanai Iguro Serpent Pillar, Muichiro Tokito Mist Pillar (and the youngest of them with only fourteen years), Giyuu Tomioka Water Pillar, Shinobu Kochou Insect Pillar and Sanemi Shinazugawa Wind Pillar.
The nine pillars were feared for their strength and depending on the situation he deemed convenient, Oyakata-sama, also known as Kagaya Ubuyashiki, would send them on different missions to protect humans.
In this way the pillars and the master used to see each other around every six months in a meeting on the headquarters of the demon slayers to talk and discuss various topics.
And it was from one of those encounters that life took a total turn within their destinies from which none of the pillars would be able to escape and everything was propitiated thanks to the classification of Alpha, Beta and Omega.
It really didn’t matter what type of subgender they had, beside the natural changes that occurred (and the precautions they had to take) there was no major impediment for them to continue protecting others, however some people used to find in their nature annoyance or shame so they concealed or lied about their subgender causing a slight misunderstanding of the traits they supposedly had.
Among the pillars were believed to be three alphas (Uzui, Rengoku and Sanemi), five betas (Iguro, Shinobu, Muichiro, Tomioka and Gyomei) and only one omega, no other than the sweet and adorable Kanroji. However, there was an imposter among them and zero suspicions in the air.
Of all his companions, Tomioka was one of the most peculiar, not even Sanemi or Muichiro had given such an impression of a bitter loner despite their attitude.
"There goes Tomioka-san, it’s such a shame he’s always apart from us," Kanroji sighed seeing the mentioned one walking away from them quickly as soon as the meeting with Oyakata-sama was over.
"Although he doesn’t interest me at all, it would be better if he could be even further from us than he already is," Obanai said looking annoyed at the water pillar that was going away.
It wasn't a secret that Obanai hated Tomioka, Sanemi despised him because of his attitude and for the idea that the bastard believed himself better than them, Gyomei cared for him but respected what he believed was his desire to be alone, Rengoku and Mitsuri were the same idea, Muichiro didn't care enough, Uzui had no problem with him but considered his lifestyle too boring for his liking, and Shinobu could be considered the only "friend" Tomioka had among his partners, although it was difficult to say for sure as they seemed to have a lot of rivalry in their own way.
"Does that mean you're not going to invite him to eat with us?" inquired Uzui with a raised eyebrow.
"If you care so much, you go," Sanemi growled moody at the mere mention of that despicable being.
"I will do it!" the blond exclaimed energetically.
He respected Tomioka's privacy, but he'd be lying if he said he didn't want to get to know the blue-eyed pillar better, and this was his golden opportunity to spend time with the quiet young man without having to force a situation that might make him uncomfortable. He still hadn't gotten over the fact that he had miserably failed the mission imposed by Oyakata-sama to make Tomioka laugh.
"I think it's convenient for Kocho to take over this time, it won't be so disconcerting and he can really consider it."
Gyomei was right, however Rengoku felt a bucket of cold water that was perfectly disguised by the broad smile on his face.
Shinobu smiled as she saw them looking at her expectantly and after releasing her familiar Ara ara, she headed towards the water pillar before it disappeared from their sight. It took Shinobu a lot of patience, one or two mentions of the classic “that's why everyone hates you” and several finger taps on Tomioka's back, but the butterfly girl got it.
The peculiar group of people decided to eat at a restaurant frequented by Kanroji and Rengoku. Once the food was served, the atmosphere at the table was filled with anecdotes, laughter, jokes and lively conversations between the pillars. And as usual, Tomioka was slightly secluded in a corner of the table, eating in silence and answering with monosyllables if someone addressed him (Shinobu and Rengoku mainly).
The topic changed for the tenth time at the table and they commented on their opinions about the burgundy-haired boy named Kamado Tanjiro who had long ago “extravagantly”, Uzui exclaimed, broken the rules of demon slayers by traveling with his demon-turned-sister.
Shinobu had stayed with the Kamado brothers for a while, plus the two other extremely loud and peculiar boys traveling with Tanjiro. The meeting was going smoothly until a crow flew into the place, scaring some customers away until it landed awkwardly on Tokito's head.
"Giyuu-sama... You have been assigned a mission in the north.... The north, Giyuu-sama..." reported the old raven."
They were puzzled by the raven's obvious mistake, Mitsuri held back laughter as did Uzui, while Shinobu laughed silently. Tomioka approached Muichiro and took the crow from the boy's head, left his share on the table and without even saying goodbye, left to fulfill the mission that Oyakata-sama had assigned him.
The rest of the pillars watched him leave, with Sanemi in the background muttering something surely addressed to Tomioka, and resumed their conversation, accustomed to the attitude of the water pillar. Once the meal was finished they began to leave until only Shinobu, Kanroji and Obanai were left behind.
They got up ready to leave as well when Shinobu noticed something under the table, picked it up and after seeing the label handed it to the pink-haired girl.
"Kanroji, don't forget your suppressants," Shinobu smiled at her, holding a pill bottle with several of those inside.
"Are? I'm sorry Shinobu-chan but that's not mine," commented Mitsuri confused and a little embarrassed.
"Oh, really? Ara ara," Shinobu turned around but they were the only ones left in the establishment.
"I'm so sorry for the omega who lost the medicines," added Kanroji with a sad tone. "An unexpected heat without your suppressants is not very nice to say the least."
"Yes," whispered Shinobu, "It's a pity."
For some reason they shivered in the cold night air and drifted away talking to each other to distract themselves from the mysterious feeling that ran through their bodies.
The mission had been easy for Tomioka, only taking him three days, but with that blood demon art that allowing cloning, he could understand how the lower ranks had found it difficult.
It's not like I'm any better anyway, I'm not even worthy of calling myself a pillar. The black haired one was deep in thought and it wasn't until he began to notice the difference in terrain that he realized he had left the usual routes and was in the middle of the forest.
Well, I'll have to walk a bit more but I guess it's okay, is it just me or is it too hot?
The breeze ruffled his hair and felt beads of sweat slide down his forehead.
I should take a... Tomioka touched one of his pockets and his face showed confusion when he felt it empty.
No matter how much he searched and searched, he wasn't able to find what was needed at that moment. The water pillar stood still as he made an effort to remember if he had taken the item out, but he was only able to see in his memories when he had put it in his pocket in the morning when he left his estate.
Playing it down, he continued on his way, confident in the solitude that surrounded him and grateful for the cool night air that made the temperature rising in his body and the increase of blood in his cheeks more bearable.
Little time passed before he received a message from headquarters. The flame pillar, Rengoku Kyojuro, had been encountered face to face with an upper moon, and not just any moon, the third. The only reason he was still alive, was due to incredible luck, if the sun had started to rise half an hour later, Rengoku would already be history.
That had been the day before, just as the morning was beginning. Kanzaburo had told him in his trembling voice the fact that the present night was very important to know if Rengoku would live to fight another day.
Not far from there, a silhouette walked with obvious annoyance. His mouth did nothing but repeat violent curses, his thirst for vengeance as strong as his anger. However, those thoughts of blind hatred stopped because of a scent, that silhouette sniffing the air slowly. A smile formed on his lips as he identified the scent.
Looks like this shitty night isn't so bad after all. That, is the unmistakable fragrance of an omega in heat.
When had he last encountered one? Carefully he inhaled the scent, it was very pleasant, it could be mistaken for morning dew, but it had an exquisite and sublime stretch of sweet notes that was captivating if you knew how to distinguish it. Omegas were a rare delicacy, and more so in his particular case, as most of them were usually women. A male omega, was something he simply could not pass up.
The yellow eyes fixed the direction in which the tempting pheromone invitation was coming from and the silhouette headed towards its.
Tomioka was seriously considering going to the nearest place and getting suppressants as the heat had become intolerable, out of nowhere he had started to feel short of breath, his legs were shaking and his lower body ached. In short, it was the worst heat he had ever been through in his life.
"You seem very agitated, are you lost?" a voice too close for his personal space put Tomioka on guard.
He turned his entire body so as not to turn his back on the unknown person and his heart stopped for an instant. The creature's skin was a shade of gray, his body was full of lines and circular markings, he had dark pink or red hair, his blue sclera eyes and prominent yellow orbs showed an expression of interest that made his hair stand on end.
It was an upper moon, the etching in the demon's eyes made it clear, the atmosphere felt tense, even the sounds of the forest had disappeared altogether, completely different from the other demons he had faced in the last few missions. To top it all off, it was the same demon that had been on the verge of wiping his partner out of existence.
It was an upper moon, the engraving in the demon's eyes made it clear and to top it off the atmosphere felt tense, even the sounds of the forest had disappeared in its entirety, completely different from the other demons that he had faced in recent missions.
He didn't answer the question, instead placed his hand on the hilt of the katana trying to ignore the temperature and trembling of his body through his breath.
"By your expression I suppose you won't tell me your name, but everything indicates you are a demon slayer, and a strong one from what I see ... Perhaps a pillar?"
The excitement with which he said the last thing gave Tomioka a very bad feeling, was his hobby fighting slayers and possibly killing them?
"It’s very rare to find omegas with a battle spirit and as attractive as you."
Tomioka backed away confused as the other approached him, how did he know about his subgenre? Forgotten were the short lessons that his sister and Urokodaki-sensei had given him long ago and that would have been very useful to him in the present time.
In an instant the demon disappeared in front of him and Tomioka attributed it to his speed, he felt the direction of the attack and managed to stop a blow that probably would have knocked him out if he hadn’t blocked it right away.
The fight was intense, the water pillar relentlessly using techniques to attack and ward off the upper moon.
"The water pillar? It’s been around fifty years since I last ran into someone good!" He exclaimed fascinated by the fast and lethal attacks that Tomioka threw at him.
The tattoo demon decided to show him respect by lashing out with his best attacks, forcing him to use the eleventh form of the water breath: Lull.
"I’ve never seen that one before, the last water pillar I killed never used that! With that strength you will definitely serve! You and Kyoujurou are strong, very strong!" the demon shouted excitedly as he dodged the water wheel from the pillar.
Tomioka definitely didn't understand. What was Rengoku's role in this? Strong, him? To serve what?
I don't have time for that now. He scolded himself as he dodged a flurry of punches from that demon and threw slashes with his katana.
"Elegant! This is finely crafted swordsmanship! Splendid!" he took a moment and then he added "You are quite elegant and pretty!"
The fact of that repulsive creature had called him pretty disgusted Tomioka, but the other didn't give him a breath as he continued to strike left and right.
"Give me your name! What is it? I want to remember you!"
"I will not give my name to a demon, I hate speaking so don’t talk to me."
"Ah, okay. So you hate talking, but I love talking! I’ll tell you my name, Akaza. And if that’s the case I´ll ask you again and again for your name!" he said with battle joy on his face.
Minutes passed and Tomioka was beginning to feel anxious, in a normal situation this would not have happened, but his heat made it difficult for him to think. It didn't help to have his guard down for a moment and be disarmed against a tree. He closed his eyes the moment he hit the trunk, but his eyes opened again in surprise to find Akaza's arms at his sides.
His nichirin sword flew out and landed several meters in front of them. He was completely enclosed. His face didn't give it away, but his king blue gaze was glued on his weapon, thinking of a thousand quick ways to retrieve it.
Akaza was sure that his prey had no escape, so he allowed himself to drags his eyes all over him. It was a really beautiful omega, that didn't matter to him in the slightest, since he just wanted to devour him and become more powerful, but, he was really still angry at Kyojuro for refusing to become a demon.
That gave him an idea. Why waste his food? There were a couple of options that did nothing but give him benefits.
"Tell me your name," ordered the demon and the brunet was surprised when his mouth betrayed him.
"Tomioka Giyuu."
Akaza smiled. Tomioka now had his full attention on the upper moon, fear beginning to well up instinctively in his chest, but why? What was it that his inner omega was screaming in desperation?
"Ahh. So your name is Giyuu?" after a brief pause he brought one of his hands to Tomioka's chin and stared at him.
"Giyuu, become a demon."
It took him longer to tell him that than Tomioka did to answer him.
"No," spat dryly and definitively.
The other sighed in irritation and shook his head. Option A had failed.
"The pillars are real idiots,” he muttered, obviously annoyed.
He played option B, sadly, he was going to have to kill him to take advantage of his nutrients. But, at least the pretty boy would accomplish one last mission before he died. After all, eating in anger and stress always ruined meals. He grabbed the pillar by the arms and pulled him down before he could process what was happening. Holding his wrists above his black hair, he positioned himself on top of Giyuu and leaning his body, he breathed in next to his neck causing a slight shiver to run through the omega's body.
(Scene NOT explicit, but without consent. If you skip it, it is almost to the end of the chapter).
Fear gripped Tomioka and suddenly everything was so clear, that feeling in the air, the change in his usual symptoms.... Shit, ever since the demon found him by the smell of his heat he must have guessed it! But the realization had just hit Tomioka's brain as he made futile efforts to free himself from the grip of the one, he now knew, was an alpha.
His panic increased when he felt his wrists bound and noticed that Akaza had his hands completely free. Where the hell had he gotten something to bind him? He wasted no time and tried to break the bindings, however, he felt his blood freeze when he realized he couldn't do it, the rope for some reason wouldn't yield to his pillar strength.
His desperation to untie his bonds made the other laugh. Akaza moved his face closer to slowly lick a stripe on the boy's neck, not caring about the disgusted expression on his face and Tomioka cursed internally as his body reacted to the stimulation.
Whether the tears welling up in her eyes were from fear, from the heat or from the instinctive pain growing in his bottom, he couldn't tell.
"Don't worry," Akaza whispered in his ear while he began to caress the black-haired man's crotch with his knee, "it will be your reward before you die. You'll feel great, there hasn't been an omega that has resisted me yet."
Akaza was frustrated by what happened the night before with Kyojuro, so he didn't waste any more time to get rid of that angry feeling. He approached the pillar's neck again and inhaled the fragrance that was driving him crazy. The closer he got, the more the scent reached the depths of his senses in an incredible way, the blood of the omegas was marechi for demons, and its smell was like the purest of drugs.
"GET AWAY! LET GO OF ME!" the black-haired one was writhing around trying to get it off his body.
"Come on Giyuu, your fighting spirit is amazing but I like these things without resistance," Akaza commented uncomfortably. It was strange, the pillar wasn't giving in to his alpha pheromones, maybe he just had to increase production.
"You're crazy if you think I'm going to let you do this to me!" immediately the omega gathered saliva in his mouth and spat in his face.
Akaza didn't expect it, full of surprise and anger, he brought his fingers to the spit and slowly withdrew it. Fuck “consideration”, he was no longer in the mood for it.
"Well, if that's the way you want it..."
Tomioka didn't like the tone in which he said it, something told him it would have been better to keep his mouth shut....
He definitely should have shut up, he thought with difficulty as another moan came from his throat, unable to believe that those sounds were emitted by him. The heat of his body had increased considerably and his inexperienced body could no longer withstand the intensity of that encounter.
The pillar couldn't even beg for him to stop as his body spasmed, cutting off his dialogue before he could say it.
"Where did that determination to challenge me go, Giyuu?"
The water pillar was about to crack in every way. At that moment, he really thought he was going to die before he was killed. However Akaza was realizing too late something that had never happened to him before.
His body was reacting to the unusual amount of pheromones he had produced. He was about to stop, but suddenly, the upper moon stopped thinking and was driven by a single instinctive desire.
One that he had lost since Muzan transformed him into a demon.
The raven-haired omega was already wrapped in fatigue, trembling from all the physical exertion he had put in: desperately fighting for his life in battle, fighting off his body's unwanted reactions and now having to carry his own weight from being exhausted.
Suddenly none of that mattered when he felt the alpha's mouth position itself on the sensitive area of his neck and the sharp sensation of a pair of fangs on his skin warned him of what was to come next. He cried out as he felt a sharp pain in his scent gland and sensed something wet beginning to ooze from the wound.
...Now he'll kill me..... I can't take it anymore... I don't have the strength to defend myself... Tomioka thought, certain that his fate was sealed.
He wanted someone to miraculously save him, but he knew that wouldn't happen and in his mind he wished so many different things in a couple of minutes: he wished that one of the pillars would appear, that Kocho would annoy him, that Sanemi would yell “useless bastard” at him, that Rengoku would speak with his shrill voice, that Sabito wouldn't have saved him in the Final selection, that his friend would be in his place inside the slayers, that his sister would have escaped... and that was his last thought before his mind went blank, the sun slowly beginning to peek in the distance.
His eyes slowly opened and the first thing he saw was a forest floor, he was exhausted and very cold, but when by inertia he looked for a part of his haori to cover himself, he realized that he was actually not wearing anything.
He blinked heavily a couple of times looking for his clothes until he found them a few feet away from him, but when he tried to get up, a terrible pain in his hips forced him to lie down for a moment longer.
Blurry memories of the night came to his head and with them a feeling of shame, his hand trembled but he still touched his neck where his scent gland was, hoping that his memory was playing a bad joke on him.
His eyes filled with tears that rolled silently down her cheeks and slowly wet the earth.
The burning pain caused by the contact of her fingers with the wound on his neck and the wet sensation of the blood they sensed told him everything. It was too much of a reality check, so much so that the young pillar vomited from the fear and shock he was now feeling.
Tomioka Giyuu, omega and water pillar, had been claimed by an alpha.
