Summary:

A Re Zero Art Dump of various versions of Natsuki Subaru from If Stories, to Fanfictions (includes Crossovers) and simple ideas taken from comments.

 

Some Fanarts are Reimagined to act like the Invincible War from the series Invincible but this whole art dump is just a standalone concept drawing down people's ideas, the main if routes and fanfictions of people.

Sometimes it can be related to the actual Variant War or just be a simple character sheet totally unrelated. This is for fun, not really being serious about it.

[Note that there isn't a structured storyline here, it's just an art dump, sometimes it might be a panel or sometimes it might just be a character sheet.]

Chapter 1: Alternate Natsuki Subarus

Since people are curious about some Subarus I decided to compile em here.

Some are taken from fanfics. Had to make the eyes like actual Subaru just to not get confused for different characters lol.

This variant comes from a world where Return by Death loops back to his first checkpoint no matter what leaving him with a harder challenge than his main counterpart.

Formerly known as Natsuki Subaru, this variant is from a world where he was reincarnated as the twin sibling of Reinhard Van Astrea.

 

2nd Row, 2nd Slot [Re:Forgotten]

A Variant that had his name eaten by Gluttony.

 

2nd Row, 3rd Slot [Re: Infinity]

Instead of Gojo Satoru, it's Subaru who gains the Six Eyes and Limitless.

 

3rd Row, 2nd Slot [Subaru, the Control Devil]

A Variant that's the reincarnation of the Devil of Conquest. (The fic is unfortunately deleted)

 

3rd Row, 3rd Slot [Re: Speedrun]

Subaru speedruns the story with mods.

 

4th Row, 2nd Slot [Re:Analyze]

Subaru gains the Great Sage as his companion.

 

4th Row, 3rd Slot [Greedy Witch]

 

A Variant who has the body of Echidna.

A Variant who wakes up as Theresia Van Astrea.

A Variant who was sent to another world at a young age and enrolled in a magic school, instead of Return by Death he has the Divine Protection of the Spirit King.

After reading Subaru's Book of the Dead, Petra's mind shatters and causes her to have a split personality of Subaru

 

5th Row, 4th Slot [Purple Prose]

Subaru wakes up in the body of Anastasia after she was caught in the radius of Puck's fury when Emilia died.

 

The rest are from the If Stories yes I took their designs from that particular fanart because I ain't that creative.

[MummyBaru] - a Subaru that "died" and was resurrected by the Witch Cult, this AU has RBD work differently to make the whole resurrection thing "Work"

 

Note that most non-fanfic variations were either taken from Reddit, Tumblr, Facebook, or Twitter. I just dedicated to screenshot these ideas and compile em into a folder in case I forgot hell, this whole Varient thing actually started way back in 2023 I just decided to finally draw it after having the motivation + Invincible War bringing out tons of crossover art.

Originally taken from Re Zero Hour on its chapter 10 but now made as a standalone Varient.

Chapter 7: MummyBaru Unfinished

Notes:

GOD I LOVE THE CONCEPT OF MUMMYBARU.

 

Even if it technically will never work seeing as RBD is absolute it would be the angstiest shit ever when Emilia needs to kill Subaru because he's a corpse puppet.

Does it make sense? Hell no. Does it pierce my heartstrings? Hell. Fucking. Yes.

Chapter 8: EulogyBaru Unfinished

Notes:

[EulogyBaru] is a Varient that takes the souls of those who had killed him in previous loops. They are carbon copies of the exact person that had killed Subaru and do not have access to any of his memories so they are essentially spectators.

The Eyepatch and necklace act as a sort of regulator because the dude cannot uphold a normal conversation without glancing at the ghosts. (How his eye started to swell is something he has 0 clue on)

They also don't die of boredom, for some reason there's a mindscape that perfectly replicates Subaru's hometown in his mind although it's mostly empty with only his killers taking up residence. Despite having multiple people in his head he doesn't actually acquire their knowledge more like the muscle memory of some fighters which comes in quite handy.

Chapter 9: Subaru vs Capella

Notes:

This should probably be like second to the last of this whole art dump but fuck it I did this piece early. (There's like 30 different Subarus I wanna draw)

 

It's hilarious to imagine when Subaru finally has all the varients defeated and he's out helping in the casualties then all of a sudden Capella of all people shows up.

I dunno it sounded cool in my head, execution is probably poor but this is more Invincible Brainrot anyways than cohesive plot.

We'll return to more variants next chapter ig.

[DeadspaceBaru] a Varient where Subaru replaces Isaac Clarke from Dead Space, inspired from Pleiades, A Lonely Star Dies from Fanfiction Net.

[Siphon] a Varient where Subaru passively absorbs the life essence of others without having the ability to stop it and he actually studied Marital Arts before getting Isekai'd

Chapter 18: ShrineBaru

Notes:

[ShrineBaru] is a Variant where a younger Subaru was taken away to another world much earlier. Found in Kararagi, many rumours had surfaced about a boy being able to heal anything with his gold-coloured blood.

 

He's eventually taken away and kept safeguarded due to his extremely valuable ability. Being able to cure even the most potent of poisons as well as completely restore any lost limbs and resurrect even those who died (Granted they aren't a rotting corpse)

Yes his outfit is literally Jinja Kankeisha's Omegalul.

Chapter 19: MeiliBaru

Notes:

Welp colored version of [MeiliBaru] is finished!

[MeiliBaru] is a Variant where Subaru inhibits the body of the assassin; Meili Portroute.

 

Randomly Inserted Storyline: MeiliBaru actually hates herself. Subaru feels like he killed a kid merely from the fact he just took over the life of whoever [Meili] was.

 

MeiliBaru simply goes on missions alongside Elsa to fill in that position of the original Meili as a way for her to make amends.

 

Edit: Forgot to put this but I retconned (not retcon actually more like fuck that old story in particular) the whimsy version and made this Variant live a harder life.

Next is HeinkelBaru from Ruby Red I'm hella excited to draw it lol

Chapter 20: RabbitBaru

[RabbitBaru] is a Variant where Subaru reincarnates into the Great Rabbit.

Initially starting as the Alpha of the Great Mabeast, Subaru eventually gains a human form after devouring the Archbishop of Lust.

[ShadowBaru] is a Variant where he becomes a Shadow of Sung Jin Woo. Nearly Dying from Shaula's Hell Snipe, Subaru tries to comfort Beatrice in his final moments before the two are whisked away to yet another world.

Chapter 22: GuardianBaru

Notes:

Okay.....this is finally done after 3 days of being a lazy fuck.

 

Guardian Tales Crossover.

 

[GuardianBaru] is a Variant whose taken the place of the 'Knight', this Variant comes off as one of the strongest due to being capable of weaving fate as the world quite literally revolves around him.

Though despite being strong his first impressions on people always comes off as him being a weak uninteresting individual due to how unimpressive and basic his looks are.

 

Fun Fact: People actually think he has a dumb face. The helmet he wears stays on most of the time, even when sleeping and taking a bath to the point people think it's an actual body part of him.

 

[GuardianBaru] or simply called "Knight" is made to be an unstoppable force of nature. In the game he's quite literally written to be unbeatable or at least win no matter what happens either through a loophole or an exploit. He's also only at half of his actual power with the other 50% being sealed in someone else he's acquainted with although neither actually know about it.

 

Abilities are mostly being extremely resilient, amazing durability, enhanced strength and manifesting lightning. This Subaru is also extremely proficient at almost every weaponry although compared to his other counterparts even his main counterpart he lacks the ability to actually use any another form of magic aside from being able to conjure lightning.

Chapter 23: HeinkelBaru

Chapter 24: VentiBaru

Notes:

[VentiBaru] is a Variant where Subaru inhibits the body of Barbatos, the God of Freedom or simply known as 'Venti' to his people.

 

Initially confused about his predicament VentiBaru eventually learns where he is and what he does for a living. Seeing this as a new start in his life he tries his best to be the best bard in town completely unaware of who he really is and what power he actually possesses.

 

[VentiBaru] actually gets embarrassed wearing the Bard Outfit. Saying he looks like a "trap" as people would hear him blabber out. Yes, despite his crossdressing mastery this variant doesn't revel in it unlike some of his counterparts.

 

VentiBaru also doesn't like thinking about his old face, whenever he tries to remember his old life it fills him with nothing but pain, he misses his parents for sure, but it's his face that he dislikes, wanting a fresh start as a person and block away the previous one.

 

When he eventually DOES discover his powers sometimes during the night he goes to Windrise and looks at his reflection in the water, shifting his appearance to his old one conflicted whether or not he truly despises himself.

 

This takes place 5-ish years before canon and here, the world of Re Zero and Teyvat are merged. That means every problem of respective verses are shared here which is a huge ass lore dump that I ain't gonna bother explaining

 

Ight finally, we get to Spirit King and Wish Upon a Sin. I'm thinking of Humility If but like, how the hell do I tweak that Subaru because as far as I know he keeps the tracksuit and I kinda want them to have a few differences. Hmm.....

Chapter 25: EulogyBaru

Some more context: At first he thought he was going insane, maybe it was just him being traumatized from dying a couple of times but no, those people in his head....were real.

Real in a sense they are fully aware and are sentient. Sometimes he hears them non-stop, while other times only a few whisper in his head. He couldn't take it anymore as time passed on, it felt like his skull was constantly getting crushed. Even trying to sleep was a challenge.

 

All of them- ALL OF THEM COULDN'T SHUT UP FOR ONE MINUTE.

 

The Eyepatch and Necklace alleviated some of his problems at least....now only one person was constantly able to talk to him and if another wanted to talk to him they would have to agree switching places....

Ya see, when drawing alternative versions I really like it when some of their designs deviate from the main one. [EulogyBaru], [CapellaBaru] and [EchidnaBaru] despite sharing the same clothes has an Eyepatch and necklace, is a girl, etc to make them different. If I'm gonna draw a tracksuit I'd rather prefer they have additional clothing on top of it. Y'know since I'm saving EnvyBaru or Mainbaru for that spot, while yes he does change his main clothing Arc 6 and onwards, something about the Tracksuit being what the main one wears screams 'Iconic'

[KenjakuBaru] is a Variant where Kenjaku takes over the body of Natsuki Subaru.

 

Inspired from that Kenjaku Fanart of Subaru by Deidrax on DeviantArt and that fanfic of Killer_Fish where an imprisoned Subaru gets taken over by Sukuna.

 

Essentially like a Re: Forgotten Fanfic except he dies and since his soul gets whisked away alongside Satella in this alternative world, she doesn't really give a shit about his old body anymore and that's where Kenny does his shenanigans.

Despite being an Oni, she has no horn, with everyone hypothesizing that her sisters took it from her in the womb.

 

Taken from terminatoreagle, SlothfulWitchSimp and DxdDeath from the comments except Subaru's a girl here instead of a boy as the initial idea pitched.

 

(As for why? Well funny story you see I already finished the product when I went to double check the comments for the prompt only to realize wait.... Subaru's supposed to be a boy and by that time the piece was done and all I could do was slap my forehead and sigh heavily.) Yeah I was also too lazy to change it.

Chapter 37: MummyBaru

Due to me liking WitchLover's comment I'm gonna make his headcanon the lore of this Variant. Ight time for new lore summary.

[MummyBaru] is a Variant where after Subaru dies due to being forgotten and accused as a cultist becomes a corpse puppet after the Witch Cult takes his body and revives it.

Random Dialogue;

 

A lone elf sits by the windowsill, looking at the shine of the moonlight. Her breathing getting louder. Even after years have passed since then, it always felt as if it had gone by just yesterday.

 

She couldn't keep her promise with him. She couldn't even direct her hatred into anyone else. It was petty, it was wrong but she wanted to direct all her anger into someone to pin the blame on them, to not stomach the fact she was one at fault.

If she was given a second wind, there was no doubt that Gluttony would have experienced something far worse than death but nobody gets a second chance, it was a silly thought.

The half elf had fallen from grace long ago, gone was the person she was after commiting a sin she and many others bore. All that was left was a woman who only continued to live because even dying was tiresome.

 

"I guess this is goodbye, Emilia-Tan." He let out a bitter smile as his form dissipated into the wind.

 

Tears came out gushing. She covered her sorry self with her hands as the temperature dropped. Another night of her endless regret.

Also despite this whole art dump thing I'd still like to say all of these guys are hunting Mainbaru/EnvyBaru. Despite most of em being good.

How does he defeat them? Well hehe we are working on that.

Also can I just say even if it tends to be hella overused nowadays I love the "Transported into someone's body" fics because you get to have an entirely different perspective and shift on the world. Ruby Red and Purple Prose are my two favorite fics regarding this category lol.

So I am extremely exhausted after taking a bus and a boat just to go home. (8 hour trip) So I decided to sleep the entire day after going home and relaxing.

Like an oddly chill fusion of Pandora and Subaru that has an ability that's like a weird combo of infinity(JJK) and Gold Experience Requiem(JJBA).

Like being able to force an event to continue on without ever reaching a conclusion, from ever reaching the "truth". For example, Reinhard tries to swing the dragon sword on EnigmaBaru but Enigmabaru locks him in a state where he's continuously swinging the sword but not being able to have swung it. Like forcing a phenoma to be in a perpetual state of occuring but never being able to occur.

Pandora and Subaru's authorities would interact weirdly together to make this possible.

This is a freshly Isekai'd Subaru that fused with Pandora upon being summoned. He's still his usual goofy goody two shoes self, but Pandora's behaviours and tendancies still leak through and occasionally makes him come off as incredibly creepy while he's doing something dumb like thinking about mayonnaise.

 

Note that I overhauled his design compared to the accurate description he said. Why? Well I can't draw the male body that good LMFAO (yeah I'll come clean here and as for the name not being PandoraBaru? Well I'm afraid that spots unavailable at the moment.)

If he had died 10 times, the maximum undead he could summon is 10, with each one possessing an ability relating to his previous deaths. For example, an undead made from a corpse that died by Puck freezing the world would be a skeleton covered in ice spikes and could cast powerful ice magic, while a corpse that died by Elsa’s attack would appear like a regular skeleton but have a weapon similar to Elsa’s and could mimic her attacks.

This variant of Subaru always black leather gloves to hide his fingertips that have turned dark purple, and black bags and wrinkles could be seen under his eyes.

Chapter 50: ZombieBaru

Notes:

[ZombieBaru] is a Variant where instead of Return by Death, Subaru is an undead capable of still being alive after being dismembered. Thought to die at the loot house, Subaru realizes it didn't hurt as much and that whoever attacked him tried to insert his organs back, at the corner two other people stood besides his attacker all three with the same crimson red eyes and darkened skin.

 

Yeah this is a mixture of Zombieland Saga + Bleach more specifically Giselle Gewelle's Shrift called "The Zombie."

With a little bit of tweaking ofc.

ZombieBaru's blood, even just a droplet, can instantly make regular people fall under his control and they become a corpse soldier for him, obeying whatever he tells them to do. When he got shanked at the loot house it was a bit more......violent allowing his blood to reach their corpses and effectively "reviving" them.

 

Some require more leeway to control, such has killing them first and forcefully injecting the blood into their heart so it can spread through their entire body.

 

I wanna point out the funny part that Elsa did require a bit more to control and didn't succumb just from his blood splashing on her after gutting him, it was that she licked the blood off her daggers that caused her to succumb.

Despite being a zombie, Subaru doesn't actually crave for human flesh, he can eat regular food just fine. His zombies however tend to ask for his blood for consumption, they can go a full week without drinking his blood though they prefer to intake daily, zombified people tend to be dumber but they do retain their skills and Divine Protections but are much sloppier with them. They also regenerate wounds.

Some retain their personalities but they are heavily dumbed down especially if they aren't that strong. They also can't really zombify other people, Subaru needs to be the one to do it, their blood isn't special even when infected. They are also aware they are infected but their brain hardwires it so that they don't really care about it, they are 100% loyal to Subaru.

I know we technically have "undead" due to the whole corpse thing in later arcs but I did this out of curiosity. Also I DO remember a fanfic with the premise that it wasn't Return by Death that was given to him but rather being unable to die even after Puck massacred the town, does anyone else remember that?

 

I remember Subaru saying "I really don't wanna die." Before waking up to see everything's turned to snow.

So first of all, no this is not an accurate design, the only thing close to the author's actual design is the vine-like patterns in his pants which to be honest isn't even that good recreation.

 

The cloak is also different, in their description it's described as "Random orange magic circles sprinkled throughout with rune-like lines connecting them, along with an orange rim."

Shirt is also supposed to be a mash of a lot of magic circles that the original black color doesn't even show anymore so it's basically a mash of a lot of colors.

 

So I'm sorry to the author I couldn't have the design that they went with, the reason being I suck at additional details on clothing.

 

Although I DID try. Genuinely. Spent the last 2 hours going back and forth on the circle shirt and the glyph cloak but it didn't go so well....

 

So I made another entirely new draft from scratch with an eerily different design but keeping the simplicity the author had with Subaru only having his OG clothing just without the tracksuit but with a magical cloak.

 

And as you can see I went overboard. (Designing the cloak was easier than the magic circles I ain't gonna lie)

 

So can we call this the drip he wears after he joins the battle? (My delulu thoughts, though I'd probably consider this as just "my take" on a ZeroBaru I guess...) If the author says they don't like the design then I'll scrap this and delete it and retry again (or make it into an entirely new alt Subaru) if they want the more accurate design as I feel like I went overboard with the whole cosmic thing. (He's technically naked when flying through space since it did say his clothes burnt up when traveling)

Notes:

[AMBaru] is a Variant of Subaru where he becomes a supercomputer alongside being an amalgamation of machinery that forms into an impression of a human body.

AM has a lot of fan designs but that bird head design was FIRE. Immaculate design Ngl, I didn't want his ass to have a TV head it'd look goofy as fuck.

 

Oh and the color palette is different compared to most Subarus who stick with Orange and Black because I want him to stand out a bit.

 

If you WERE gonna write a story based on this what backstory would actually fit? Would y'all make him a goody two shoes or an individual hellbent on hating humanity?

Remember he's a supercomputer and no longer a human.

(Also that sketch doesn't signify he's still a human trapped in a robotic body, it was more of a metaphor where his soul is free from it)

Chapter 77: JudicatorBaru

Notes:

[JudicatorBaru] is a Variant where Subaru becomes the father of the 10 Queens.

 

The 10 Queens are inspired from League's 10 Kings, Which is basically the beings born from humanity's Primal Emotions.

 

In this AU, they predate the Great Calamity and were Flugel's creations, promising them one day he'll return and their job is to find him until that time comes.

 

The 10 Queens eventually seperate and settle down in various nations with the nations declaring them as their aces to which they really don't care and only stay docile awaiting their Father's return. Each can decimate an entire country but finds no amusement in it.

 

In order the people in the image embody Fear, Sadness, Joy and Anger respectively.

The other 6 not shown are; Contempt, Delirium, Disgust, Stress, Desire and Astonishment.

 

Y'all can think of a name for em if you want I'm not good at naming things in Ancient Greek lol.

 

It took a few days to register but once it did 4 of the 10 Queens left their nations causing mass panic as this has never happened before and there was no informing them of why they decided to leave, eventually after all meeting up with each other they set out together to find their father. They stumble upon a very, very confused Subaru and all of them come to the conclusion he is the Reincarnation of their Father.

 

Fun Fact: He hates his outfit but 'Thymos' (temporary name for Anger which means well... anger) doesn't like him wearing unsightly clothes. (She burnt the tracksuit as to her it felt insulting her Father would wear an abomination)

 

Rem repeatedly makes more copies of the tracksuit but hides it in fear she would burn it again

Also it's been a while since I read Gluttony If (years to be exact) and fuck I wanna reread it but my heart is torn from how tragic it is (prolly gonna reread it regardless but I'll ask the question here anyways and I might be wrong in how things happened)

 

As I recall it diverges from the chapter "Murder Becomes a Habit" but I don't recall HOW Subaru went about his plan, was it off-screened and left to interpretation?

 

Did he actually start with Beatrice by succumbing to the intrusive thoughts of bashing her head in and killing her then and there when she was about to tend to his self inflicted wounds? Or did he allow her to heal him anyway but his mind already came to the conclusion where she and everyone needs to die so he plans by asking Shaula? God my thoughts are probably incorrect, I'll prolly just reread Gluttony If and correct my mistakes myself.

Honestly reading the Route I'm surprised Halibel was extremely loyal to Subaru. Ik he solved some shit regarding some Great Spirits and all but man.

 

Also Headcanons here; Subaru never switches back to his regular self and stays like this permanently since he's extremely paranoid of everything, so nobody in his organization actually knows he's a male.

Chapter 85: ChefBaru

Notes:

[ChefBaru] is an alternate Variant of Subaru where he becomes the God of Cooking.

 

Unlike his other counterparts, this version doesn't really like his transmigration to the new world but forced to because of a debt with a God he was sent and forced to serve to customers from another world until his debt is fully repaid.

 

This Subaru is exceptional when it comes to the culinary arts, able to produce a masterpiece even with the simplest of ingredients. After dropping out of school he decided to pursue cooking and within a few years grew to be an excellent prodigy.

 

Then all went to hell when he forgot to repay a debt from one of his teachers which turned out to be a God. So as a solution he becomes a chef of a restaurant and has to earn his way back to freedom.

 

- Subaru here instead of Return by Death is blessed with the Divine Protection of Severance which allows him to cut things precisely down to the very last molecule with clean precision.

 

- This is a massive AU compared to the actual story, Subaru's exceptional talent in cooking doesn't come from any fancy powerups but through pure hard work.

- Despite being a chef, Subaru has reached the pinnacle of swordsmanship and reached the status of the Heavenly Sword although only very few know of this and only realize it when they see Subaru scavenging for ingredients.

 

- This Subaru doesn't participate in the Subaru War, only a mere observer but does somewhat help the Main Subaru by helping him teleport to vast distances via his otherworldly restaurant.

- Shaula is his trusty assistant.

 

- He becomes notoriously famous for his godly dishes to the point some people never cook at their home again and have their meals by the restaurant.

 

- Eating his dishes are described to be "Getting Extremely Inebriated." Some even experience a form of orgasm. A Peace Treaty was signed specifically because of his presence.

The red-haired is an OC, originally it was actually gonna be another Divine General but like we already have a Vollachian and one more powerhouse from Vollachia being given away just to spy seems pretty far fetched (also most DGs have a position, Cecilus was only really top 1 because he was strong af but he never had any authority as Vincent said when they planned to snag as much DGs as they could on their side )

 

Lumi is a Demi-Human hailing from Gusteko. Infamously known as "The Corpse Puppeteer." She is a practitioner of Forbidden Magic. Capable of resurrecting the dead and using them as puppets for assassination. Those she resurrects are akin to an actual living person, retaining their personalities and their forms can't be told apart from an actual living person with the only flaw being the inability to breathe and not exhale or inhale.

 

She is indebted to Natsuki Subaru and works for him, she mainly acts as the secretary to his organization.

 

Her Personality is Stoic and Reserved, often staying in the background not wanting to be noticed. She's cold and ruthless but has a casual side whenever she's not busy.

 

Zarestia is Tail Wrath's Contracted Spirit.

 

Frederica gets pranked with a coin toss just like with the OG WrathBaru but unlike her counterpart she displays more hatred and was *this* close to snapping her neck.

Chapter 93: PrinceBaru

Notes:

[PrinceBaru] is an alternative Variant of Subaru who is the illegitimate child of the Emperor Vincent Vollachia.

 

Yes I will include an actual ShotaBaru and Natsumi Schwartz Eventually.

 

This is a huggggeeeee AU. Let's pretend the Great Disaster doesn't exist or will come wayyy later than it does in canon and everything from arc 1-6 is thrown into the balcony.

 

For some reason Vincent got freaky with a woman and left a child. Subaru wakes up in the new world as said child of the Emperor. (How exactly given Vincent's attitude? Fuck canon we make him freaky in a one night stand hallelujah.)

 

Here, Arakiya becomes attached to Subaru as on this AU, Priscilla gets her name consumed and Al dies (Rip Bozo). Arakiya becomes sorta like Felix in Pride If. She becomes catatonic until Subaru keeps visiting her and helping her eat until she substitutes her memories of being Priscilla's Blade into Subaru.

 

God I love Arc 7 and 8. It's a shame since we are like.....5-6 years away from an anime adaptation (if we even GET an adaptation past Arc 6 at all.) so a lot might not get this one.

Canon is thrown into the trashbin. We shall make this AU into a wholesome reincarnation story. (With a bit of messed up lore dump here and there.) Prince Subaru doing some shenanigans while Vincent tries *keyword; tries* to be a single father.

 

Edit: Subaru summoning the Yang Sword makes me giggle.

Chapter 94: SlimeBaru

[SlimeBaru] is a Variant of Subaru that becomes a Slime.

 

Oh hey, a Tensura Crossover.....how'd that get here?

 

Anyways.......hehe.....I snuck this in alongside PrinceBaru because I felt like it :P

 

Here some random stuff for this;

 

- it doesn't start like Canon, Subaru and Emilia meet waaaayyyy earlier and have known each other for about 4-5 months.

 

- Great Sage in this case humbles Subaru before he gets an ego trip.

 

- Unlike Rimuru where he just sucks everything he fights, Subaru here has not absorbed anything apart from medicinal herbs and a single Mabeast.

 

- Rem attacks Subaru but he survives and eventually clears his suspicions with Rem, she's still weary of him ever since she attacked due to guilt of attacking an innocent but no longer suspects him of being apart of the Witch's Cult.

 

- Emilia dies and Puck goes berserk, Reinhard manages to kill the Beast of the End before any more major casualties happened. (A lot still died lol)

 

- Felt and Rom live but Felt doesn't become apart of the Royal Selection because she wasn't employed on stealing Emilia's Insignia, instead Roswaal's Book specifically told him he needs Subaru to absorb Emilia's Corpse and essentially replace her.

 

- Subaru is found by Reinhard within the destruction a few hours later after he finally takes a human form clutching Emilia's Insignia. Emilia regains consciousness for a few mins before telling Subaru to absorb her corpse as thanks for being her friend.

 

- Reinhard thinks he's the fifth and final candidate. Since Emilia's camp is terminated, Roswaal offers his support into Subaru's camp.

- Subaru considers Roswaal as a friend not knowing he planned Emilia's Death.

 

- From here it turns into a slice of life up until the White Whale Attack.

 

- The Oni Twins and Subaru's relationship here are pretty much abysmal for a looonnggg time considering that Subaru quite literally absorbed Emilia but both were instructed by Roswaal to keep that a secret making people believe Subaru was Emilia's sibling due to how much she looked like a younger version of her. Rem doesn't harbor hatred though and probably knew how much guilt Subaru harbors.

 

Does it make sense? Prolly no, if someone can write a better one let's delete this notes and make THAT canon. (I'm not a good writer as you can see) It's been a whillleeeee since I watched the first 2 seasons (I've been reading Side stories and rereading Arc 8 currently, I haven't touched the new IF story) so my knowledge on the initial first few parts of RZ is absolutely hazy feel free to propose your ideas on the comments)

 

(Also I'm thinking of making a Devil Hunter Madelyn with Mezoreia as some sort of devil but I wonder what to do with her mom hmm.... A Cloud Devil doesn't seem powerful lol, I wonder what concept of fear would work hmm.....)

[PrideBaru] is a Variant whom took a more extreme and gruesome path and relying on himself and refusing to lower his dignity, becoming the Sin Archbishop of Pride and causing thousands of deaths under his name with his endgame being killed by Emilia herself in order to make Emilia the Queen.

 

Wow he sure took a while. That's all I gotta say. I wanna finish up the OG Alts before I run out of steam.

 

Edit: Been a while since I read Ayamatsu and I was corrected in the comments, having reread it, seems like Subaru first tipped the guards and watched Reinhard One-Shot Elsa and caused him to tweak more.

They retain Subaru's memories, abilities and experiences Apart from their personalities as the clones are essentially mindless copies with only the intellect to act but not feel empathy or any emotion for that matter, the clone has Access to Subaru's Invisible Providence and Cor Leonis (but not RBD) Funnily enough, this Subaru always has a Beatrice Clone by his side making the two a formidable duo despite not talking to each other. They remember the face of their killer and will prioritize those who killed them first before others.

 

Due to tampering, this Subaru has virtually zero drawbacks when using the Sloth and Greed Authority.

 

When taking a fatal blow be it through decapitation or complete incineration the clones reform a couple hours later making this Subaru an extremely dangerous opponent to be weary of as he and Beatrice will retain the memory of being defeated.

Anastasia tried to replicate PlushBaru but the bootlegs always somehow felt uncanny and she refused to sell something that didn't share the perfection of PlushBaru.

 

PlushBaru somehow made it so that Elsa and Meili surrender and join Emilia's Camp

 

There are 4 People that absolutely despise PlushBaru. Those being Felix, Regulus, Todd, and Aldebaran.

 

During the events of Arc 7-8 Katya somehow had taken hold of PlushBaru for a while and Todd was absolutely scared shitless and couldn't sleep well and wanted to get rid of PlushBaru but Katya kept him close and any attempt to get rid of him whenever Katya wasn't holding him ended in failure as something was physically making Todd unable to grab ahold of PlushBaru.

 

Vincent wouldn't say it out loud but PlushBaru put him at ease, so much so he sleeps with both eyes closed because he feels like PlushBaru keeps him safe.

 

PlushBaru has access to his Authorities and those who hold him immediately gain access to the knowledge of how to use them. They can see the invisible appendages but only when they hold PlushBaru.

 

After PlushBaru got launched to Vollachia, Emilia started tweaking.

 

Vincent officially made PlushBaru a Divine General as after discovering his plethora of abilities he used them in order to get to his throne.

Chapter 104: EstelBaru

Notes:

[EstelBaru] is a version of Subaru who reincarnated as the daughter of Rowan Segmunt making her the elder sister of Cecilus Segmunt.

 

At the age of 1 Subaru had experienced dying several times due to Rowan because she showed zero promise when it came to the way of the sword.

 

Subaru eventually learned to hide the fear whenever Rowan swung a blade at her which prompted Rowan into seeing some potential in his child.

 

At 7 years old Subaru took more than a hundred tries just to finally hide from Rowan as during her time as a reincarnator she had quite literally been killed numerous times by Rowan, only staving off the inevitable demise by continually assessing every move he makes since Rowan took it as his child having good intuition.

 

Subaru wasn't skilled with the way of the sword, far from it really but the rigorous "training" she'd gotten when she learned how to walk was hellish torture that it was enough to make Subaru really good at dodging, she had died of exhaustion numerous times as well, her father never held back when it came to hitting Subaru often having her reset till she learned how to dodge every lethal swing.

 

Rowan, having given up in pursuing his daughter and killing her, decided to have another child with a woman, that child being Cecilus who was born a year later after Subaru had fled.

 

Instead of meeting Balleroy, Madelyn met Subaru on a entirely different circumstance compared to her canonical counterpart. Madelyn would come to form a very close relationship with Subaru.

 

Subaru's goal was to kill Rowan one day for all the shit he did to her as a child, she couldn't see out of her other eye anymore as it was slashed during her escape attempt.

 

At some point during Subaru's life she had successfully killed the Archbishop of Wrath and gained access to another authority which allowed Subaru to amplify the pain of wounds she had caused to people with the drawback being that the more Subaru used the Authority the more aggressive and mindless she had become.

Chapter 110: SiphonBaru

Notes:

[SiphonBaru] is an alternate version of Subaru who was bestowed a curse that kills anyone near him and harvests their soul to empower him.

 

Similar to Spirit Eaters in a way, Subaru can gain immense strength and temporary magic from absorbing souls of people around him, the problem was he couldn't turn it off and ended up killing everyone within the capital which in turn had forced Reinhard into killing him.

 

However after sometime he managed to lower the radius of his ability after a couple of loops which allowed him to get away from the capital and run away. He ended up in Gusteko after a few months of travelling where he would isolate himself to not kill anyone, he still ended up with a couple of deaths because he couldn't avoid people during his travel and that caused him deep guilt.

 

Subaru had never met Emilia nor would hear about to tragedy following the events of the Beast of the End's Rampage.

 

Surprisingly because of his power he couldn't feel any sensation of things like cold or heat nor could he register smell or taste anything as anything he eats always tastes bland.

 

Before this Subaru got transported, he actually managed to fix his life two years before the whole transmigration thing and began taking martial arts classes his main goal is to find a way to get rid of his curse and go back home but the isolation does have a heavy toll on him, still he manages and moves forward.

 

I retconned this version from the OG Descent Panel. I'm tryna finally finish the remaining versions I drew on the original spread.

Edit: So Schedule was revealed, the only free time I have is during Thursday and Sunday (which allowed me to make this one and redraw a couple characters) but aside from that....yeah updates are prolly gonna be weekly now.

Chapter 111: WraithBaru

Notes:

[WraithBaru] comes from a world where Natsuki Subaru became immortal. Unable to truly die and taste death, the man went mad after thousands of years.

He became reclusive after the death of all his friends and including his beloved spirit.

 

Unable to age, get hurt or even get tired at all his mind deteriorated after a couple hundred years.

 

Any attempt to find a semblance of forbidden magic to cut off his immortality was futile. He eventually disappeared after his reign and left the world as someone important in their historical archives.

 

Desperate to die he seeked to create his own forbidden magic, attempting to find at least one that could permanently kill him still he failed eventually collecting corpses weren't enough and he decided to use living beings instead. His acts would soon be known throughout the land and he would earn the title "The Desolate Sovereign."

 

He seeked not atonement but the taste of death, eventually this led him to create artificial beings in hopes that one of them might kill him but none of them had the capacity to, so instead they became his loyal servants.

 

Subaru in a twisted act, had these artificial beings molded to look like his old friends so if he was killed by them he could look at them in his own eyes and imagine his friends killing him to stop his madness.

 

Despite looking like his friends and even having tidbits of their personality, there is not a hint of the same soul on these beings as they were made from the corpses of people he experimented on. He told them to each act in a certain way but it's far from a perfect impression. And among all the duplicates, only the Reinhard Copy is weaker when compared to it's original counterpart.

 

Whaddya know? Our professor couldn't come to class and opted for online. On the first week XDDD.

It all started when a bunch of people found themselves inside of a house, they could see residents but they never noticed them as if they were ghosts all except for one which was Subaru.

- After getting Isekai'd for a second time, they watched as a 14 year old Subaru got gutted by Elsa, after that initial Death, Subaru's subconscious sank and his body essentially became a husk, in order to survive one of them piloted it after discovering they could.

 

- They also found out they could turn to daggers for the "pilot" to use retaining a very small portion of their unique abilities but heavily nerfed.

 

- These Protagonists come from a "Dead End" meaning they aren't the original ones.

 

- VesselBaru is essentially a body inhibited by 6 different people. The Original Subaru is asleep unable to wake up.

Personal Headcanons in this AU:

- Reinhard is a massive siscon since there was nobody to truly love him other than his twin sister.

- Wilhelm doesn't dislike Reina but he does continue to hate on Reinhard because of what he did.

- Heinkel also doesn't hate Reina but he still eventually turns to a drunkard because he's unable to really move on from Louanna. Her relationship with her father is extremely strained, on one hand he loves her on the other he really hates that she has to see his pathetic self.

- At first Heinkel tries to be sober for Reina but after years he stopped.

- Reina still has Return by Death, there were many attempts of Roswaal trying to sway Reina to his side but it always ends up getting thwarted because Reinhard watches Reina like a Hawk.

 

- Reina undergoes a situation where she ends up saving Rem similar to her canon counterpart, due to this Rem feels a lot of attachment and even became Reina's Personal Maid.

Anyways I have a question in regarding to HeinkelBaru and RemBaru, should I just.....change their fit? Even just slightly or just have the same character fit but with different eye color?

I feel like a bit of difference compared to the original really changes how you view said character when it comes to Subaru replacing them. Their posture, the way they act, that sort of thing or should I just do the same clothing as the authors intended?

 

It's not a full change of clothing, maybe just slight tweaks with RemBaru wearing a less exposed maid outfit like with Sylphy or HeinkelBaru with uhh.... I dunno a less messy look? Or a messier look seeing that he had a hard ass time staying sober after drinking for so long lol.

Chapter 147: RimuruBaru

Notes:

[RimuruBaru] is a Variant of Subaru whom was assimilated by Rimuru Tempest following his death.

 

In an alternate world where Subaru's existence was forgotten he became a runaway after escaping his hellish prison to which he eventually found a freshly reincarnated Rimuru who had just been given a name.

 

The two would become friends with them eventually finding out they are from Japan, Subaru would later die from mana poisoning in which before his death he asked Rimuru to consume his body as a sort of thanks and a request. Return by Death never worked as he was content with this outcome and Subaru's soul stayed in the Shadow Garden alongside Satella for eternity.

Eventually Subaru's name would return although about a year had passed since his death and Emilia would eventually stumble upon Rimuru who had now taken a younger form of Subaru.

 

So uhhhh this came out of nowhere, some dude got into my DMs in Reddit and personally messaged me for this ion know why but I did it anyway lol it was a rare ass request from Reddit of all places so I couldn't just ignore it 😭🙏 I just rephrased what they requested.

Rest in Peace in that alternate world where Rimuru doesn't exist ig. Them monsters are gonna live a life without Tempest and would die by Natural Selection. (Rest in piss Gobta)

I used Netflix's design of Alucard, primarily the one from Season 2 (cuz that's where he actually fully appears instead of the small cameo on Season 1.) before someone asks yes I know Nocturne, I just liked his fit during the original run. It was sleek, simple and most importantly: Easy to Draw.

I did NOT want to use his actual aristocrat clothing from the games because holy shit that would have taken me out before I got halfway to finishing it. Variants like TwintailBaru and GuardianBaru already make me giga exhausted primarily because their designs are so stacked it takes me quite a while to get them right so imagine tryna work with *that*

[AuraBaru] comes from a reality where Subaru's soul finds itself stuck in the body of Aura the Guillotine.

 

Initially spooked about the whole situation, Subaru spends dozens of loops trying to escape Frieren as he was sent just half an hour away from his inevitable demise.

He tried reasoning and that got him a clean Zoltraak to the face before he could utter another word, he tried bargaining but he realized Demons in this world were deceivers and got him a beam to the face he then tried to just....run the hell away but realized Frieren was on his tail.

It took a couple dozen loops to pull a few strings in such a stressful situation and finally make her talk to him for a few minutes without just blasting him immediately to tell her he's a human trapped in the body of a demon.

 

I am done with Possession Types for a while God I just wanted to put this out so I can finally cross it off my notes and since I put it on some fucking doodle and my brain just kept ringing "Hey you drew that now make it official."

Funny Fact: Frieren was initially super skeptical at first but then begrudgingly, somehow just by stroke of luck got pushed justtt right to spare Subaru even if he was wearing the face of a notorious demon.

But then again......the attitude 'Subaru' has displayed was far from the subpar method acting of a demon. Either that or their deception has become incredibly good.

The mental image of Subaru posing in absurd manners however begged to differ.

In a world where Subaru's parents died when he was just a young kid, this Subaru became more impulsive and brattish, adopted by a family that treated him like dirt.

 

He would eventually become close friends with a girl named Satella, and the two would bond during their elementary school days. Despite being abused by his family he didn't really care that much even if he would often show up with bruises and scratches all over his body.

 

One day Subaru would come to find Satella dying from a car accident, leaving the boy devastated, after going home with his heart shattered he was beaten up yet again by his foster parents until he finally snapped and ended his life a day later.

 

He would wake up into the afterlife, losing his memories and being enrolled into a prestigious school for Reapers in Training, it's there he would form a bond with two spirits.

 

Subaru would be given an assigned task to observe what has become of the modern world, gaining a corporeal form to walk amongst the living, there he would meet a girl named Emilia who had just lost her parents in a fire and was about to attempt suicide and for some reason, Subaru couldn't help but see her as someone familiar.

 

- Od Lagna functions more as a 'Society' rather than a single entity. So nations like Lugunica, Kararagi or Vollachia function more as a "Faction"

 

- Satella would unfortunately never meet Subaru in the afterlife as her soul reincarnated.

- Subaru's job as a reaper-in-training is to guide souls into the afterlife, he appears whenever people are about to die to whisk away their soul.

 

- the world of Re Zero doesn't exist.

 

- Re Zero Cast are essentially from the modern Japan.

 

- The two spirits that constantly follow him are actually the souls of his parents who decided to stay with Subaru, refusing to reincarnate.

- Subaru is living on borrowed time as he only has a a few months before he goes back to the afterlife so he needs to make every day count.

 

- Subaru would eventually regain his memories and leave the physical world but not before making sure Emilia doesn't make the same mistake he did.

[DollBaru] is an artificial "Natsuki Subaru" made by Flugel as a means of escape.

 

In a different reality altogether 'Flugel' had lived for centuries, experienced everything life had to offer but somehow he never stopped reincarnating into another reality to live another life keeping his memories. Initially accepting this curse and his fate, he grew mad, desperate to escape the cycle of reincarnation but no matter how much he studied on magic of each world, he could never achieve True Death.

 

Eventually he lived through a world where manipulating one's existence was possible, using this as his chance to escape he created a doll and shaved off his soul into it and it was just enough to convince the curse that the doll was 'Flugel'

Implanting false memories as "Natsuki Subaru" Flugel eventually passed away permanently leaving the boy with his curse.

The Ten Tails would be seperated into 9 Entities bearing the form of Witches and scattered throughout the 4 great nations of the world all of them roaming free except Satella whom seeks to find the latest reincarnation of Ashura.

 

- Instead of a giant energy fox, Subaru's Chakra Avatar is literally just Satella but with yellow aura.

Chapter 184: HatBaru

Notes:

[HatBaru] comes from an alternate reality where Subaru was reincarnated as a magical sentient witch hat in the Kingdom of Gusteko.

 

Unable to enact in his own due to being encased in glass as a precious artifact to be displayed, Subaru managed to escape due to being stolen by a couple of theives. Eventually after realizing he could attach himself to control someone, he fought back and escaped, ditching the body of one of the thieves and being swept away by the strong winds.

 

Subaru would resort to controlling animals and jumping to new ones in order to explore the new world, he would stumble upon a recently deceased corpse in the outskirts of the city, seeing as this was a chance to acquire a human body, he goes on to puppet said body.

 

Sentient Witch Hat? Yeah I got this from Ronillust lol. I'm pretty sure a lot would realize this hehe.

 

Fun Facts for HatBaru: He can only possess people for a short period of time like a minute or two before they regain control, those with strong wills typically resist getting controlled altogether and he becomes nothing more than a magical accessory.

 

Unless the host themselves are either unconscious , have weak wills, dead or willingly allow Subaru to control them, he becomes a magic battery for them if he gets caught in the hands of someone who possesses a strong will.

 

HatBaru would have discarded the corpse in favour of a stronger body, however due to reoccurring nightmares and memories of the girl, he plans on finishing her goal of finding her parents and giving them closure.

 

Due to HatBaru's special properties, the corpse he is piloting goes into a stasis, keeping it from aging and rotting.

 

HatBaru finds it hard to make facial expressions and running, so the body typically only has a blank stare and he uses magic to float and travel faster.

Chapter 187: MonsterBaru

Notes:

[MonsterBaru] is a Natsuki Subaru whom monsterizes in order to protect Rem.

 

During the events on which Subaru offers Rem to escape what he thinks is an impossible challenge, Rem accepts his offer, after they go to Kararagi they are met with a sudden catastrophe as people begin to monsterize and turn to abominations.

 

Subaru also begins to experience monsterization but was able to stave it off, realizing along the way that even if he looped he couldn't get rid of it and didn't slow down his monsterization.

 

Trapped in a situation where looping was futile he gives in to his desire and becomes a monster in order to protect Rem.

 

Inspired from the Sweet Home Manhwa, god it's been years since I read that shit and I revisited it and can't help but shed a tear. DUDE IT WAS SO FUCKING GOOD. God.

 

Might be butchering how monsterization occurs here so forgive me if I'm a little rusty with the lore. (All I know is that the monsters are results of people giving in to their desire and allowing their Ego take over their body someone correct me if I'm wrong hehe-)
