Hua cheng, still disoriented, squints his eye open. This is not his room and what's with this annoying beeping sound, Hua cheng never uses an alarm- instead opting to wake up to his secretary's calls.

He finally opens his eye properly and sees the cold white light and realizes- oh, this is not his room, he's in a hospital. But why? Did he get in an accident?
He stares at his right leg, bandaged up, he then feels at his head- which is also bandaged.
His head hurts.
The door opens with a click and two people enter- He xuan and the other one, he does not recognise.
Huh. What a beautiful stranger.
He had long brown hair and bandages around his arm, was he injured too?
The stranger was looking stressed evidently, his eyebrows were knitted and his face was pulled in a grimace. He came towards Hua cheng and when he spoke- oh.
His voice was extremely pleasant to listen to, he was attractive, kind, respectful, that was all that Hua cheng gathered in their ten minutes of meeting. i think I'm in love. Hua cheng thought.
Was it possible to fall in love this quick?
He xuan came back in with a nurse, the nurse sat down in the chair beside his hospital bed and asked him how he was feeling, then she pressed around and asked hua cheng if he was feeling numb anywhere, when he answered yes, the nurse smiled lightly and said "that is to be expected. Since the patient did not experience that many deep injuries, he can be discharged by tomorrow, until then please don't put too much strain on his brain as he's just woken from anesthesia, it will take a moment but he will regain his memories. You have about thirty more minutes in your visiting hour."
After this the nurse went out of the room and he xuan took a seat in a lone corner of the room.
The stranger spoke up "san lang, how are you feeling? How did you get hurt? I got a call from he xuan saying that you got into an accident, does it hurt anywhere still? Should I call the nurse back?" He fired a hundred questions at once and Hua cheng had a tough time catching up
Also maybe this stranger was talking about someone else because who is this san lang?
"I'm sorry, who is this pretty gege?" Hua cheng asked and winked at him before realising that he only had one eye and so even if he did wink, the stranger wouldn't know.
The stranger blushed and said "ah, san lang, im Xie lian, I'm your-" and he paused right there seemingly remembering something and stopped "..your friend" he finished lamely
The stranger- no, Xie lian looked back to He xuan again and flashed a small smile, he then took Hua cheng 's hand in his and said quietly "I was worried for you you know"
Hua cheng felt a swift punch in his heart and clutched his chest upon seeing someone bothering to care for him before he immediately said "I hope I didn't bother gege too much by worrying him" and internally grimaced when he saw Xie lian's eyebrows knit together.
"Does your chest hurt? Should I call the nurse? And San lang could never be a bother" xie lian said resolutely, leaving no room for arguments. He then stared at Hua cheng's hand again, hua cheng took this chance to ask smoothly "No but gege after I'm discharged, would you like to grace this one with a date?"
Xie lian looked dumbfounded by the question, blush rose swiftly to his cheeks and colored them a bright pink. He took a moment of thinking and then smiled cheekily and put his hand on top of hua cheng's.
Hua cheng noticed the diamond ring on his ring finger and below that a red string tied. But he did not want to believe it totally. However the next words that came out of xie lian's mouth confirmed it properly
"I'm already married san lang"
He xuan, who had finally taken his eyes off his phone, cackled loud-like a hyena.
Hua cheng's gut twisted into knots and he felt his heart fall, would his love life really fail like this even before starting? Trying to salvage the situation, he asked "does he treat you well?" Perhaps if xie lian was not in a good relationship, hua cheng could swoop in. Seeing the red string on his finger though, xie lian was probably in a better relationship than most of China's population.
A red string of fate. How romantic.
Xie lian smiled softly and said "He is the best thing that could ever happen to me. He's my life as I am his. He is my everything." He said it so lovingly and Hua cheng's heart further broke.
Seeing such a disheartened look on hua cheng's face, xie lian chuckled a bit and raised his own hand over his face, hua cheng's eyes widened at the ring and red string on his own ring finger.
Xie lian laughed again and said "San lang, don't look so disheartened. You are the one I'm married to!"
Hua cheng's heartbeat quickened rapidly, the monitor on the side registering it.
beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep-
He quickly took a few breaths in and calmed his heart down. He then shouted out "YOU'RE MY HUSBAND???" oof, that came out way louder than it had to be, xie lian flinched and rubbed his neck, and then "yes, I'm married to you" xie lian said calmly, as if it wasn't the most earth shaking news.
He took a moment to calm down and pull himself together and asked "how long?" And xie lian answered him "eight years" and the only thing hua cheng could say was "holy fuck." Xie lian chuckled at the reaction. He xuan cringed at them both by his corner and he said "shi qingxuan is asking if you are fine, I told him you are and he's saying that he's coming to visit you"
hua cheng scowled at he xuan and ordered "well. Tell him no. I can't deal with him, my head hurts" and he xuan just rolled his eyes but said nothing
Hua cheng turned to xie lian and asked in a whiny tone "gege aren't we married? We should go on a date once im discharged!" Xie lian only smiled and consoled him saying
"Of course. San lang deserves a date atleast after he's healed from all his injuries"
Hua cheng only wondered what good deed he must've done in his previous life to deserve such a loving and perfect husband.
