Work Text:
14 years old. With parents more interested in ghosts than their own son. Legally Danny Fenton, otherwise known as Danny Phantom, the menace or the hero of Amity Park (depending on who you may ask).
But you already know all this…
Let's tell the story of how Danny Phantom and Rin Okumura happened to cross paths.
“He-” “No.” “It’s not-” “Don’t tell me-” “Wait-” “No!”
Danny feels groggy, unfocused and he seems to be hearing voices? What’s going on?
“He’s waking up, guys!”
“Who is he?” “Where’d he come from?” “Everyone, stay cautious.”
Danny slowly blinks open his eyes to see a bunch of teens his age. Very interesting looking teens. All the way on the right, Danny makes intense eye contact with a boy who has very pointy ears. Looking away, he sees someone who has pink hair, one with a blonde mohawk, and another kid with a buzz cut. Behind them cowers a cute blonde girl. And beside those four is a girl with purple hair and bushy eyebrows, next to a boy with glasses, who carries himself seriously.
He must be in charge here.
“Where am I?” Danny has no idea how he ended up wherever this is.
These people are looking at him like he is a monster. To be fair, he is in his ghost form. Therefore, changing back now might be a worse idea than a better one, judging by how freaked out they are.
“First, who are you? What are you?”
Rude.
"I won't ask again!" the guy shouts at him. Suddenly, Phantom is acutely aware of the gun in this stranger’s possession. It’s not a worry for him, getting shot, but he cannot help but be on edge.
Obviously, the stranger notices this, too; he gets into a defensive position, subsequently mirrored by the teenagers behind him.
Well, this is getting out of hand. Danny has to defuse the situation before anything bad happens.
Or, another option exists… Phantom could ghost them.
Danny cracks a smile, hah, Tucker would have laughed at that one! And Sam would be all like, “Dan- er- Phantom, c’mon!”. And they would all burst out laughing, or she would hit him. Probably hit him. Ugh- and remind Danny they have an essay due the next day. Damn, he needs to get back home.
“Answer me.” Oh. Yeah… Danny was not alone right now, or with Sam and Tucker. Or in Amity Park.
He’s in the middle of who knows frickin where and this guy is pointing a gun AT him now!
“Woah, dude”, Danny puts his hands up in surrender, “Chill out! I am just as confused, if not more than y’all are!”
He floats down toward the ground; When did he start flying?
“Listen, I have no idea how I got here and I come in peace. Trust,” he puts his hand over his heart, “On the Styx.”
