Chapter 4: Chapter 1
Chapter Text
A dark grey room, a full size bed gray sheets, laid a dark haired teen. Alec McCall laid on his desk, scrolling through his phone as the rest of his room was shown. A built in desk, taking over two walls, was across his bed, two desktops on either desk. Built-in shelves were above the desk, filled with trophies, pictures, books and music sheets. At the end of the desk was a three draw dresser with a printer on top.
Above the bed, hang three large photos. One in black and white. Another one of the cities. And Another of a musician. On either side of the bed, was a one draw bedside table with a lamp on both and an alarm clock on the right hand side. The ceiling, done in LED lights, with a small window on the left side of the room.
Next to the built in desk, was a door. On the other wall were two more doors, one opened showing a bathroom.
Alec sighed sitting up, he looked at his guitar on the standby the window, when he went to get up and grab it a loud bang from outside was heard.
Alec paused listening closer, there was another bang. Alec quickly stood up, opening the draw on the left side of his bed, grabbed a silver, ring dagger, and slipped out his room.
Scott McCall, his younger brother, with shaggy hair and brown eyes, stepped out of his room holding a bat “Did you hear that?” Scott asked his older brother.
“Yeah.” Alec nodded, glancing at his brother for a moment before walking in front of him.
Alec and Scott step onto the front porch, Alec looks out to the front yard, as Scott moves to the side, to look around there. Suddenly, a figure appears hanging from the roof, Scott yelps in terror, almost hitting the person in the face with his bat until he realizes that it’s Stiles Stilinski, his best friend, who screams just as loudly.
“AHH! AHHHH! AHHHH!”
Alec rushed towards his brother, dagger clutched tightly in his hand, when he saw Stiles, one of his best friends, hanging upside down from their roof “Stiles! What the hell are you doing?” Alec asked with a huff.
Stiles looked between the brothers just as exasperated “You weren’t answering your phones!” Stiles defended himself, before looking at Scott “Why do you have a bat?” He didn’t even bat an eye at the dagger Alec had. It was normal for Alec to be armed. If he wasn’t, then he should worry.
Scott frowned, annoyed “I thought you were a predator!”
“A pre… what?” Stiles looked at Scott appalled by the implication, while Alec bit his lip to stop the smile from forming. Stiles a predator. Ha!
Stiles scoffs before he gets onto why he’s here “Look, I know it’s late, but you two go to hear this. I saw my dad leave twenty minutes ago. Dispatch called- - they’re bringing in every officer from the Beacon Department and even state police.”
Alec frowned, crossing his arms “What for?” Alec narrowed his eyes when Stiles lit up in glee “Two joggers found a body in the woods.”
Reaching up, Stiles pulls himself free, and lands on his feet. Scott tilts his head “What, a dead body?”
Alec looked at his brother like he was stupid as Stiles reached up, leaning on the railing to look at Scott “No, a body of water.” He said sarcastically, rolling his eyes “Yes dumbass, a dead body!” Scott looked unnerved while Alec just raised a brow.
A dead body in Beacon Hills? Interesting.
Stiles finally stood in front of the McCall brothers and smiled at them “We’re going.” He said leaving no room for an argument.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec jumps out the passenger side of the Jeep, flashlight in hand as Scott and Stiles follow behind him. He was in the front, putting himself in between danger and the boys.
“We’re seriously doing this?” Scott asked, pulling his hood up.
“You’re the one always bitching that nothing ever happens in this town.” Stiles reminded him, following Alec up the woods. “I was trying to get a good night’s sleep before practice tomorrow.” Scott told him.
“Right, ‘case sitting on the bench is such a grueling effort.” Stiles said snidely.
“Stiles” Alec warned, not even turning around to look at the buzz cut teen.
Stiles bowed his head. Scott rolled his eyes as he huffed “No, because I’m playing this year. In fact, I’m making first line.”
Alec and Stiles stopped and looked at him in disbelief. Scott was going to make first line. Look, Alec is all about people chasing their dreams, he’s chasing his dreams, but Scott isn’t athletic. He couldn’t run to save his life, and he has asthma. How is his brother going to make first line?
“Hey, that’s the spirit!” Stiles said looking at Scott “Everyone should have a dream, even a pathetically unrealistic one.” Alec smacked Stiles up over the head making the teen whine holding his head.
“Alec”
Alec only raised a brow and turned back around to continue climbing up the hill.
He ignored the two boys behind him as he continued to look for any threats. He did not want to be out in the cold, but these two idiots needed him, or they’d get themselves killed. Alec spun around when he heard gasping and saw Scott leaning against a tree, trying to catch his breath.
“Fuck” Alec muttered, pulling out the extra inhaler he always carries and rushed towards his brother “Here, take it now.” Alec pushed the inhaler in Scott’s hand, waving Stiles off, “Go ahead, I’ll wait here for Scott.”
Alec waited silently, keeping a look out until Scott straightened himself out, handing the inhaler back to his brother “Thanks.” Scott muttered. Alec nodded and went up the hill, frowning when Stiles rushed off “Stiles!” Scott called out as he tried to run after Stiles.
Alec groaned, rushing after the two “These two are going to be the death of me.” He muttered running after his brother.
“Stiles! Stiles!”
Stiles finally hears the last attempt to call his name, turns around but the split second of distraction causes the nearby K9 officer to start barking at him, scaring him so much he falls onto the ground. “Hold it right there!” The officer yelled.
Alec grabbed his brother and shoved him behind a tree, before diving behind a large rock. Alec raised his head just a little to look at what’s going on.
“Hang on, hang on…” Alec dipped behind the rock as the Sheriff, Noah Stilinski, Stile's father, voice was heard. “This little delinquent belongs to me.”
Alec heard Stiles' voice “Dad, how are you doing?” Alec saw in the corner of his eye how Scott banged his head against the tree and gave him a look telling him to stop and keep quiet.
“So, do you, uh, listen in to all of my phone calls?”
Stiles laughed sheepishly “No. Heh…” Alec closed his eyes knowing where this was going to next “Not the boring ones.”
“Now, where’re your usual partners in crime?”
Alec crouched down even further as Scott pushed himself against the tree, neither of them making a sound. If they get caught out here, their mom will kill them.
“Who Scott and Alec? Scott wanted to get a good night's sleep before tryouts and Alec was training so I didn’t want to interrupt him.” Stiles told him “It’s just me… in the woods… alone.”
A flash shone their way making Alec duck down even further. “Scott! Alec! You boys out there.” Alec looked at where Scott was and shook his head. Scott stayed where he was as Noah called out again “Scott! Alec!” When neither boy stepped out, they waited until they heard footsteps walking away.
Alec waited for another minute before slowly standing up, looking around to make sure they were alone. “Come on.” He whispered motioning to Scott who quickly followed his brother.
🎶🎶🎶
Thunder and lightning flickers overhead as Alec and Scott carefully make their way back. Scott pulled his hood up as Alec squinted through the darkness. Alec looked around, keeping Scott in front of him.
When they make it to a foggy clearing. Scott looks around unnerved by the fact it falls totally silent. “Keep going.” Alec told Scott pushing him forward, when suddenly a herd of deer's began frantically stampeding towards them.
Alec grabbed Scott by the neck, tossing him to the ground before using his body to cover his brothers. Alec grunted as the deers trampled over him.
Once the deer had cleared out, Alec slowly got off Scot rolling his shoulders with a wince “That’s going to bruise.” Alec whispered as Scott stood up.
“Alec, I lost my inhaler.” Scott whispered. Alec sighed but pulled out his phone, turning on his flashlight.
Using the light, they start searching the floor for Scott inhaler when Scott was about to search through a pile of dead leaves when he's startled when he instead uncovers the top half of the body that Stiles had told them about-- young, white, with dark hair and very clearly bisected at the waist.
Scott stumbled back, straight into Alec, pushing him down the hill and into a ravine. Alec groaned sitting up “Scott! What the-” Alex was cut off by Scott's body slamming into his, sending him back into the ravine “Scott!” Alec pushed his brother off him.
Scott groaned a little, getting to his knees when a growl ripped through the air, making the McCall brother’s freeze. They slowly turned around, Alec breath got caught in his throat at the dark beat with glowing red eyes towered over him and his brother.
“Scott, run.” Alec whispered.
Scott didn’t need to be told twice, he quickly got up and ran away, Alec on his heels. The monster follows behind them. Alec was close to his brother when something hard sent him to the ground.
“Damn!” Alec tried to get up, but the monster grabbed his ankle, pulling him towards him. Alec looked back. Scott wasn’t there. Good. He’s safe no- A scream tore through his throat, pain shot through his leg, his hands flying down to his thigh, blood seeping through his fingers.
The beast got off him and ran off. Alec groaned, holding his leg tighter trying to stop the bleeding. God, what the hell was that thing! Alec heard another yell and remembered Scott. Damn it, that thing got Scott.
Alec pushed himself up, keeping weight off his left leg and started running as fast as he could with a limp. Heavy breathing filled the woods, pain burned through him, but Alec didn’t stop running until he saw his brother on his back holding his sigh, the monster nowhere in sight.
“Scott,” Alec grabbed his brother, pulling him up, “Come on” Scott stumbled through the woods as his brother pulled him. His side throbbed like hell, but he didn’t try to stop allowing Alec to pull him.
They needed to get out of the woods quickly.
Chapter 5: Chapter 2
Chapter Text
Alec dropped into bed, groaning when pain flared in his leg. He set the first aid kit next to him, unbuttoning his jeans and slowly pulled his jeans off, hissing when the denim snagged on the bite. "Fuck." Alec threw his head back breathing heavily. Once the pain subsided, at least a little, he pulled his jeans off the rest of the way, throwing them onto the floor.
He looked at his wound and grimaced. It was bloody and torn. Alec didn't know how he could practice tomorrow with a bite like this. He opened his first aid kit, and pulled out hydrogen peroxide, gauze pads, wraps and non sticky pads.
Alec hissed in pain, tensing as he poured the hydrogen peroxide over his wound, using the pad to pat the wound dry. He knew it would hurt but this was painful. Grabbing more pads, to dry the wound, once it was dried, he grabbed the non sticky pad and gauze wraps. Alec quickly but carefully wrapped the wound, keeping it tight.
Once done, Alec packed everything away, setting it near his bed, pulled off his hoodie and slipped into bed, turning off the lamp.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec huffed out a breath as he got out his truck, locking it.
It was 6 in the morning, and he just finished his morning run. He unlocked the front door, opening and closing it gently.
"Morning mom." Alec smiled at his mom who was at the kitchen counter, making his protein shake.
"Morning Alec," Melissa handed her son the shake, putting the dirty blender in the sink "I'm working late tonight. Money for food," She handed him two 20's. "Have a good first day." She kissed her son cheek, grabbed her purse and left.
Alec sighed, waiting until he heard the door closed, to sit down "Damn," He rolled up his shorts, unwrapping the bandage around his thigh. It wasn't bleeding much, but it hurt from his run. He tossed the wrap and bandage in the trash, letting the wound breathe.
Alec grabbed his shake and made his way upstairs, needing to shower and dress for school.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec walked down the stairs dressed and ready for school. He threw on some black pants that were a little baggy to not press on his wound, a black tank with a black sweater. Alec had his school bag and game bag with him.
He walked past Scott who was rushing around in the living room and headed for his truck. He did not have time to waste, it was the first day back after summer break and he would not be late.
"Hey!"
Alec sighed, turning to look at his neighbor. Alina Moon. They've been neighbors for a year now when her and her father moved right next door for freshman year and Alina gained a crush on him.
No matter how many times Alec has told the girl he wasn't interested Alina would not take no for an answer and continued to try and get with him.
"Good morning." Alec nodded respectfully as he unlocked his truck.
"So I was wondering," Alina started, twirling a piece of her hair "Would you like to join me and my friends for ice cream after school?"
Alec shook his head tossing his bags in the back seat shutting the door. "I have practice after school. See you later." Alec told her before getting in his truck and driving away.
Alina sighed, frowning a little. Why is it that the hot guys are always playing hard to get? It's been a year and Alec still shows no interest in her and that couldn't happen!
She's one of the most popular kids in the school right behind Alec, Jackson and Lydia! How could Alec not like her?
"Honey, come on!" Alina heard her father yell and rolled her eyes as she turned back to her house.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec stood at his locker, quickly taking the books he would need for his next three classes when the Vice Principal approached him. "Mr. McCall?"
Alec looked up closing his locker "Yes Mr. Moon?" Ben Moon, Alina Moon's father. Alec liked him mostly because he kept his daughter away from him.
"I have a new student starting today. I was supposed to show her around but I've got a meeting with the board. Would you be able to show her around just for today?" Mr. Moon asked hoping he would say yes.
Alec wasn't known to be social with others, only having a small close friend group with Lydia, Jackson and Danny. Ben wouldn't be offended if he said no but to his surprise Alec agreed.
"Sure." He shrugged "Where is this new girl?"
"Follow me."
Alec shoulder his bag and followed Mr. Moon out the school and towards a girl sitting there. Alec took a moment to take her in.
Dark black hair, fair skin, brown eyes and pink lips. She reminded him of Snow White.
"Ms. Argent?"
The girl hung up the phone standing up smiling at the two of them "Yes that's me. Good to meet you." The girl shook both of their hands.
Alec gave her a small smile.
"Nice to meet you as well. This is Alec McCall. He will be showing you around."
"Hi." Alec waved.
"Hi. Allison Argent."
"Well I'll leave you to it." Mr. Moon said before walking away.
"Can I see your schedule?" Alec asked. Allison nodded and shifted through her bag pulling out her schedule handing it over. Alex read it over quickly. "Seems like we have most of the same classes except French and P.E. Come on."
Alec walked towards the school, Allison quickly followed "So, where are you from?" He asked just to break the awkward silence.
"Uh, I was actually born here but I moved around a lot so I never stayed somewhere for more than a year." Allison told him with a shrug.
Alec winced a little. He couldn't imagine moving every single year, starting a new school, making new friends. It sounded like torture. "Well hopefully this will be your last stop for a while." He told her.
"Hopefully." Allison said though she wasn't totally convinced this would be the last stop. She could hope.
Alec opened the classroom door, letting Allison enter first "Mr. Curtis," Alec shut the door behind him. "I'm showing around our new student. Allison Argent."
"Ms. Argent welcome." Mr. Curtis nodded "Please take a seat. We're just getting started." Allison nodded and followed Alec to the back of the room.
He took a seat on the left leaving the desk to his right empty. Allison quickly slid into the seat and took out a notebook, turning to ask Alec if he had an extra pen when Scott, who was sitting in front of her turned around handing her one of his.
Allison looked confused but took the pen giving him a small smile "Thanks."
Scott smiled back before turning back to the front. Alec looked at his brother with narrowed eyes but didn't say anything, pulling out his own notebook and getting ready to take notes.
Chapter 6: Chapter 3
Chapter Text
Alec and Allison were at their lockers, which were side by side. It was the end of the school day, and Alec was getting ready to leave, and Allison was flipping through one of her new books.
“I love your jacket.” Alec looked up at his best friend as she stopped in front of Allison. “Where’d you get it?”
Allison looked down at the jacket in question, smiling a little. “My mother bought it in a boutique back in San Francisco.”
Lydia hummed, “And you are my new best friend.”
Alec closed his locker leaning against it, “That hurts, Lyd’s. What am I then?” He pouted.
“You are my GBF.” Lydia laughed.
“GBF?” Allison asked, looking between the two confused.
“Gay Best Friend.” Alec and Lydia told her.
“Oh,” Allison nodded.
Alec looked down at his phone, grimacing at the time, realizing he had to leave now or he’ll be late. “Alright, I got to go. Allison, I’ll see you tomorrow. If you have any questions about the homework, text me.” Allison nodded. Alec dropped a kiss on Lydia's head, “See you tomorrow. Tell Jack I say hey.”
“Will do.” Lydia gave him a small hug before letting him go.
Allison watched him go, before turning to Lydia, “Practice? Does he play a sport?”
Lydia nodded her head, “Not for the school, but for the local gymnastic team.”
“He’s a gymnast?” Allison asked, perking up. She loved gymnastics, and did eight years of it before she dropped it because they kept moving around too much for her to get settled into a new gym.
“Yeah. He’s been doing gymnastics since he was 4.”
Allison hummed, keeping it in mind to check out the gym. Maybe she could start back up again.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec stood with his team, in gray sweats and a Muscle-T, “Okay! Conditioning today!” Some of the boys groaned, but Alec held back any noise knowing complaining would only make coach Morgan give them more conditioning. “Complain all you want! Let’s start.”
Alec helped some of his teammates, get the mats out and set up. “Planks. 30 seconds!” Alec dropped to the floor, getting on his forearms. “Now!” Alec lifted his body, taking a slow deep breath, holding it for five seconds, before letting it out. In five seconds, then out. Alec continued the breathing exercise, wincing as the wound on his leg ached a little more.
“You okay?” His teammate, Dean whispered.
“Yeah.” Alec nodded, “Just some pain in my leg. I’ll be fine.”
“And rest!”
Alec slowly lowered himself down, taking a few deep breaths. They had 10 seconds before they started again.
“Up!”
Alec pushed himself back up, ignoring the pain shooting through his leg.
🎶🎶🎶
“Hey, Alec!” Jess called from the other side of the locker room, “Party this Friday at Martin’s house! Will we see you there?”
Alec tied his running sneakers, “Maybe! Lydia wants me to go, so we’ll see.”
“Cool.”
Alec nodded, grabbed his bag and left, looking through the text messages he got during practice. Mostly from his mom and Lydia and one from a number he doesn’t recognize. Tossing his bag in the passenger seat, Alec closes the door, before opening the text.
*Hey Alec. It’s Allison. I was wondering if you have any information about the gym. Can people go in and just work?*
*Hey Allison. Yes, there are open days where anyone can go in. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. All day on the weekend. 4 PM to 9 PM on Friday.*
Alec turned on his phone, starting his truck and driving towards the preserves. He always goes on a run after practice no matter how tired he is. It kept him in shape and helped clear his mind after grueling practices.
Pulling into a parking spot at the entrance of the preserve, Alec grabbed his phone, armband and earphones. Quickly he strapped the armband on his left arm, plugged the earphones in and locked his truck, stuffing his keys in his pocket.
Stretching a little, Alec started his music and took down his usual running path. The bite mark on his leg burned, with each step he took but Alec didn’t stop. He continued jogging and his lungs started burning, as he picked up the pace, trees blurred through his vision, as Alec ran uphill.
Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Alec pushed himself harder, his lungs felt like they were on fire as he ran up another hill, but Alec didn’t stop until he was at the edge of the Hale property, bending over, hands on his knees taking, calm, measured breaths to get his breathing back in control.
After a few minutes, Alec stood back straight, turning off his music as he got ready to run back. Alec liked running back with no music, enjoying the sounds of the forest as his way to decompress.
Derek Hale, stood a few feet away watching the boy. What is it with people going on his property? “What are you doing here?” He asked, the man spinning around.
Hazel eyes, boring into green ones.
Alec clears his throat, “What does it look like?” He asked. “Jogging.” He deadpanned.
“This is private property.”
Alec looked down at the trail, “No this,” He pointed down at the path, “Is public. That,” He pointed to the path beyond the bush, “Is private property. Maybe get the facts straight.” Alec rolled his eyes.
Derek glared at him, but felt his ears warm, as he realized the teen was right.
Alec rolled his eyes, “See you green eyes.” He said running past him and down the path, going slower this time to listen to the birds chirp.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec entered through the backdoor, and went straight towards the washing machine, tossing in his clothes from practice and started the load, before making his way towards his room, heading right for the bathroom.
He pulled a towel from the shelf under the sink. His bathroom was better than Scott’s. With the money from his job, and the extra money from his side business, releasing songs on Spotify, he’s been able to make a lot of money.
Of course his mom helped him set it up in different accounts. His savings account. His 401k. College and retirement fund. Though the college account has been made since he was a baby, he adds some money into every mouth like his mom does for him and Scott.
The bathroom matched with his room. Black walls and floors, with oak trimmings. The sink was a black bowl, with an oak sink counter. Two shelves under it, holding his towels, with a small bin holding his skin care. The toilet was the same black as the sink and mirror.
The shower was a walk in, with a small window, privacy film on the inside. Two shower heads, on either side of the shower that could be controlled with the knobs. Two shelves, filled with body wash, cleanser, and shaving cream.
Alec, turned on both shower heads and stripped down, tossing his clothes in the small laundry bin unwrapping his leg. “What the hell?” He muttered, running his hand over his leg. It was clear. No bite mark, just reminiscence of blood. Alec pressed his fingers against the missing wound. It didn’t feel tender. It didn’t hurt. Why doesn’t it hurt? It was just killing him on the run and now it seemed like the bite was never there.
Alec closed his eyes, then opened them and - nope. Still no bite mark. He was too tired to question it anymore and stepped in the shower. Alec let the water run down his body, relaxing his sore muscles.
Grabbing his apple body wash and washcloth Alec lathered up the washcloth, he washed his body, slowly moving down his chest and back, towards his legs, ignoring the missing wound.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec sat at the kitchen table, working on some school work and eating dinner when the back door opened and his mom walked in.
“Hey honey.” Melissa smiled, setting her purse on the counter.
“Hey mom.” Alec smiled, looking at his mom for a second before going back to his calculus homework. “Dinner’s in the microwave. Heat it up for like, 40 seconds.”
Melissa nodded and did just that, turning to look at her son. His hair was damp, falling into his eyes, and he was in blue PJ pants and a black tank. She could hear the dryer going and knew he was finishing up clothes from practice.
“How was school?” Melissa asked, taking her bowl out when the microwave beeped, moving towards the table to sit with her son.
Alec shrugged, “It was okay. We got a new girl.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah.” Alec finished his homework, “Allison Argent. Nice girl.” He closed his books, setting them to the side to focus on his dinner and his mom. “How was work?”
“Good. Nothing too exciting happened.” Melissa shrugged. “Where’s your brother?”
“Working late.”
Melissa hummed, eating more of her food. The two McCall’s spent the rest of dinner, talking about school and work, before going to bed.
Chapter 7: Chapter 4
Chapter Text
Alec sat with Lydia and Allison after school, watching lacrosse tryouts. "So you coming tonight?" Lydia asked her best friend.
Alec nodded, "Yeah." He looked at her with a smirk, "Coming by to pick my outfit?" Alec already knew the answer.
"Of course!" Lydia scoffed like anything else would be offending.
"I don't have practice but I am going running before, so just let yourself in." Alec told his best friend.
His mom didn't have a problem with Lydia having a key to their house seeing as Lydia never used it in responsibly, plus it helped Melissa to know nothing will ever happy between the two so she wasn't as strict if she caught Lydia in Alec room a 2 in the morning like she was with Scott when she caught a girl in his room.
Alec still doesn't know how that happened as his brother had no game whatsoever.
Cheering from in front of him made Alec look back at the field just in time to see his brother doing a hand free roundhouse over a player, shooting the ball in the net.
Allison jumped up cheering for him as Lydia and Alec shared disbelieving looks. "What the hell was that?" Lydia asked.
"No idea." Alec shrugged watching as Coach spoke with his brother. Alec's hand drifted towards his leg realizing that Scott couldn't do those things until he was bitten.
Did his bite heal like Alec's own did? Was something happening to them? Alec didn't feel any different. . . Though he was always the more athletic one in the family so he wouldn't notice if something was different.
"Alec," Lydia grabbed his arm. Alec blinked looking back at his best friend "Are you okay?" She asked worriedly.
"Yeah." Alec breathed out. Lie. Something was going on, he just didn't know what. "I just need to clear my head." Alex grabbed his bag and stood up.
Lydia watched him for a moment. She knew something was wrong but also knew pushing Alec for an answer is just pushing him away.
"Okay," Lydia smiled softly. "I'll have your clothes picked out on your bed when you get home."
"Thanks Lyd's" Alec kissed her cheek and made his way down the stairs glancing at Scott who was cheering with the team.
Yeah. Something was definitely wrong.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec, changed into sweats and a white muscle T, ran his usual path in the preserve, pushing himself a little faster then normal as he tried out running his thoughts.
Something was wrong with Scott and if something was wrong with Scott then something was wrong with him. It started with a bite and Alec didn't understand what that could mean.
Don't think about it. Alec told himself as he pushed himself harder, going up a steep hill. Instead Alec focused on what Lydia would pick out for him. He hoped she didn't pick anything risky, while he did like to dress up that was more for the club scene not a high school party.
Alec ran two more miles before stopping, resting his hands against his knees as he took deep breaths.
"I thought I told you this was private property."
Alec looked up, seeing the same man from yesterday a few feet in front of him. Alec grinned a little, standing straight, "And I thought I told you, this was public property." Alec pointed at the spot he stood, outside the Hale property. "And if it was private property wouldn't you be trespassing green eyes?" Alec tilted his head.
Derek scowled at the teen, "Not if it's your property." The boy in front of him raised a surprised brow but didn't say anything about him being a Hale, instead he only shrugged.
"Well either way, not on your property." Alec phone chimed. The boy pulled it out seeing the reminder for the party. "Any I got to go. See you around green eyes." Alec turned around and jogged back down the path.
Derek watched the boy disappear, his heart thudding against his chest. It was weird, the feeling of his wolf not wanting the guy to leave but not knowing why.
Derek shook his head and turned back, heading back to his house. He needed to get ready for tonight, two newly bitten humans meant trouble.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec left his bathroom towel wrapped around his waist, spraying his cologne on his wrist, neck and behind his ears as someone knocked on his door. "Come in!" Alec called out.
Melissa poked her head in the room, "Hey hun, I'm turning in for the night. Scott has my car so watch out for him and be safe." Melissa told her son.
"Of course." Alec nodded.
Melissa glanced at the clothes on her son's bed, and smirked "Lydia." Alec nodded with a sigh, making Melissa laugh. "Have a goodnight." She told her son, shutting the door.
Alec shook his head before he started to get dressed. Lydia picked out black baggy jeans that stopped at his hips, a white ribbed tank top, his Calvin Klein belt and white and red Jordans. Alec paired it with his black jacket, and his silver chain.

Alec looked over himself, while it wasn't something he would normally wear day-to-day, it was something he could wear on a night out. Alec grabbed his phone and keys, and left shutting and locking his room.
"Leaving now mom!" Alec yelled walking down the stairs.
"Be safe!" Melissa yelled back.
Alec smiled, shutting the door behind him, jumping down the porch, ignoring the stairs completely. He unlocked his truck getting in just as the door next door opened and Alina stepped out.
"Hey, Alec!" Alina waved.
Alec glanced at her and sped out the driveway leaving her behind. He had no patience for her and didn't want to spend his Friday night driving her around.
"Alec!" Alina yelled watching as his truck disappeared. "He probably didn't see me," Alina muttered while walking towards her car.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec walked in Lydia's house, music pumped through the house, people danced, drank and made out around the house. Alec bobbed his head as he made his way outside. He saw his brother dancing with Allison and wondered how he got her to go out with him.
"Alec! You made it!" Lydia shouted, rushing towards him.
Alec laughed as Lydia threw her arms around him, he wrapped his arms around her waist, picking Lydia up and spinning her around making Lydia laugh. Jackson wrapped his arm around Lydia's shoulder when Alec set her down, nodding in welcome.
"Hey Jack." Alec smiled a little. "Lydia, you look beautiful." Alec complimented.
Lydia smiled, flipping her hair over her shoulder, "Thank you. You look hot!"
Alec chuckled, "I should, you picked it out."
Lydia nodded, smiling smugly, grabbing his hand. "Come on, let's get you a drink."
Alec let himself be pulled, Jackson following behind his girlfriend and friend. Some would expect Jackson to be jealous that Alec and Lydia were so close, but he wasn't. Truth was, Lydia was more like his best friend than girlfriend. The only reason they were dating was to get his father off his back until he turns 18.
Lydia knows this and pretends to help. Alec knows because of course he does, and takes him out to the club to let loose when everything becomes too much.
"Here," Alec pushed a cup into Jackson's hand.
"Thanks." Jackson smiled while taking a sip.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec was dancing with Lydia and Jackson, sweat dripping down his face when his head started to hurt. A pain that made it feel like someone was using a jackhammer inside his skull.
Alec stopped drinking, holding the bridge of his nose. Lydia and Jackson didn't notice, making out for the audience. Alec let out a sharp breath and staggered out the party through the back gate.
He pulled out his phone sending Lydia a text letting her know he was leaving before he reached his truck, got in and drove off. Alec made it two blocks before the pain became too much. He could feel it behind his eyes, the pain made tears appear.
Alec tried taking deep breaths, resting his head against the steering wheel. Alec groaned, grabbing his mouth as his gums started to hurt. "Ahh!" Alec threw his head back, hitting the head rest. That's when he caught his gaze in the rear view mirror. His eyes were glowing yellow.
Alec stared at himself in horror fumbling with the door handle, throwing himself out his truck and ran into the woods.
Chapter 8: Chapter 5
Chapter Text
Alec ran without thought, without direction. He stumbled over a root but didn't stop, not even when the pain spread through the rest of his body.
Alec noticed, subconsciously, that his nails extended into claws and he could feel fangs scraping against his bottom lip. Whatever's happening to him has finished.
He could hear everything! The river miles away. The birds are chirping. The multiple footsteps heading his way. Why were footsteps heading his way! Alec started hyperventilating, tripping over his own feet landing hard on the dirt floor.
Suddenly someone was next to him, pulling him up. "Come on." Alec knew that voice. Private property guy! Why was he here? "Come on!" He said a little more forcefully pulling Alec along. Alec tried to keep up, but he kept tripping over his feet, too disoriented to fully realize what was happening.
"They went this way!" Alec heard someone yell.
"What's happening?" Alec questioned.
"Come on, don't stop." Derek pulled Alec along, cursing when two people stopped a few feet in front of them. "This way." Derek turned but another pair was closing in. "Fuck." Derek pushed the new wolf behind him, growling at the hunters.
Alec held his head, fisting a hand in Derek's shirt holding onto him tightly. Derek felt a chest push against his back, and reached back, gripped the wolf's hip, pulling him closer towards him.
"Get them."
Alec glanced over Derek's shoulder, not enough for the hunters to really see him, but enough to show them he was a boy.
The guy in front of them had short choppy brown hair, and icy blue eyes. He seemed a little familiar, some features Alec could have sworn he saw before, but his head and chest started to hurt, so much Alec groaned, bending forward, resting his forehead in between Derek's shoulder.
The words slipped out before Alec could even think them. "Consto."
Derek tilted his head, hearing the words but not understanding what Alec said. Alec himself didn't understand why he said anything, or what he said but suddenly it was quiet. Too quiet. Alec peeked to the side to see the hunters just . . . standing there. Not moving. Not even breathing. Alec could only hear their heartbeats but not air going into their lungs.
"Did I do this?" Alec whispered, peeking over Derek's shoulder, looking at the man in front of them. He was frozen, crossbow aimed straight at Derek's heart.
"I think so." Derek muttered, eyeing the hunters. None blinked. "Come on, let's get out of here." Derek turned around, letting Alec go, but the use of an unknown power put a strain on Alec. His knees buckled under him, chest tightening and the edges of his vision going black.
"Woah."
Derek caught the teen before he could hit the ground.
"W-What . . ." Alec mumbled, head falling to the side.
"I got you." Derek pulled Alec up, wrapping an arm under his knees, pulling him towards his chest. Alec leaned closer to Derek, shivers racking through his body, head resting in between Derek collarbone and neck.
Derek glanced down at the guy in his arms, and held him tighter, running past the hunters.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec woke to his mom shaking him awake. He groggingly sat up, looking around his room confused. He was still dressed in the clothes from the party, tucked into bed. How did he get here? Who put him here? The last thing Alec remembered was . . . Private Property guy!
Did that guy put him here? If so, how did he even get into his house? Into his room?
"Alec, honey what's wrong?" Melissa asked concerned, noticing Alec spacing out. "Honey?"
Alec blinked. "I'm fine." Alec managed to clear his throat. "I'm fine."
Melissa raised a brow, not completely buying it. She knows her son better than she knows herself. Something was wrong. "Did something happen at the party?" Melissa asked.
"No." Alec shook his head. Not at the party. "Uh . . . I think I need to clear my head. Go for a run."
"Okay," Melissa eyed her son. He's not telling her something which was odd since he told her everything. "Remember I'm here for you."
Alec managed a small smile. "I know mom." Once his mom was gone, Alec swung his legs off the side of his bed, holding his head. It was pounding behind his eyes. Is this what being drunk feels like? I don't like it. Alec groaned but slowly got up, making his way towards his bathroom.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec ran faster than he normally would. Ducking under branches, side stepping roots. His mind was a mess, he kept thinking back to last night. Who the hell were those people? Who the hell was that guy who saved him? Was this happening to his brother as well?
What happened last night, it was like . . . magic. That's absurd. Magic isn't real. Alec stopped suddenly as someone stepped in front of him. A heavy feeling, a felting feeling thrumming through his blood encased Alec, just for a moment before Alec pushed it down.
"Who are you?" The question slipped out before he could stop it.
Private Property guy, smirk, green eyes glistening in the sun. "Derek Hale. And you are?"
Derek Hale. Why does that name sound familiar to Alec? "Alexander McCall." Why did I say my full name? Alec never used his full name. Alec shook his head, taking a step closer to the guy. "What happened last night?"
Derek eyed the younger wolf, something akin to pity, but also awe. Derek didn't know what Alec was. He was a wolf that Derek knew. But what happened last night wasn't something he could explain. "You should get home. It's not safe here." Derek told Alexander.
Alec blinked. Derek was gone. "What the hell?!" Alec looked around but didn't find Derek. He huffed. "You're no help!' He yelled.
No response.
Huffing again, Alec spun on his heels, running back down the running path.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec wrapped a towel around his waist, wiping the mirror of its steam. He stared at his reflection, touching his cheeks, running his tongue over his teeth. No facial hair. No fangs. Alec looked normal. He felt . . . not normal, but not unnormal. Even that didn't make sense to him.
Sighing, Alec left the bathroom, changing into a pair of black swats and a loose T-shirt heading downstairs to find his mother at the kitchen counter looking through a stack of bills. "Mom," Alec stopped in the doorway.
Melissa looked up, setting the bill down. "Alec, everything okay?" Alec shook his head. Melissa stood up straighter, frowning. "What's wrong?"
Alec took a deep breath, "I swore to you no secrets, so. . ." Alec closed his eyes, taking a deep breath. His eyes tingled. He opened them.
Melissa gasped. Alec's eyes were amber.
"Mom . . . Something happened last night . . ." Alec let out a shaky sigh, "Something unnatural."
Melissa took a deep breath, staring as the gold left her son's eyes returning to his natural deep brown. Unnatural. Could . . . Could her grandmother's fairy tales be true? There has always been a part of her that believed. Believed her grandmother wasn't crazy and was telling the truth. A part that believed their family was something different.
Melissa never believed in the book in the attic. Never even tried to open it, but . . . Something in her didn't want to let it go. A part of her hoped her grandmother was right.
"Tell me exactly what happened?" Melissa pulled Alec to the kitchen table.
Alec took a deep breath, and told his mother everything. Starting from the wolf attack before the first day of school, to this morning with private property guy.
Melissa listened intently, going through different emotions, shock being one of the biggest especially when Alec described the claws and fangs. Her grandmother never said anything about that.
"Follow me," Melissa told Alec.
Alec looked at her confused but got up, following his mom up the stairs. Melissa stopped in front of her door, pulling the string for the attic and pulling it down, allowing the stairs to unfold.
"The attic?" Alec asked, confused. "You said we could never go up there."
"I know, but I think this is the exception." Melissa started climbing upstairs, phone out, flash light on. Alec looked back at his room wondering if he should lock himself in but followed his mother after a moment of hesitation.
"Woah."
Shelves upon shelves lined the far wall, filled with books, bottles, and liquids. So many books. Work tables with a cauldron, burning, and more was by the left wall. Old couches in the middle of the room, with a coffee table. A small bed pushed to the side.
It was nice.
But that wasn't what shocked Alec. It was the feeling of the room. The burst of something powerful. Ancient. It thrummed under Alec's skin, something coming alive in him, something amazing. He felt it everywhere, in every breath, in every blood cell. Electricity zapped in him, a weight on his chest Alec never knew was there lifted off his chest. He could breathe properly.
This time, he didn't push the feeling away. He allowed it in. Allowed it to flow freely.
Melissa watched as her son's eyes glowed. Not yellow. Or amber. But Gold. Bright gold that reminded Melissa of the burning sun or freshly melted gold blocks.
"Alec," Melissa breathed.
"Mom," Alec took a deep breath, "What's happening to me?" He asked, scared.
🎶🎶🎶
Alec and Melissa sat together on the old couch - That Alec fully intended to replace - a book in Alec lap. The teen flips through it as Melissa explains their family history to him.
"This book is called the Book of Shadows."
Alec paused on a page of werewolves. "How did we get this?" He asked.
"I don't know," Melissa shrugged. "I know it's been our family for hundreds of years. Longer. Since the Witch trials. Grandma used to tell me stories of power. Of a Delgado witch starting our family. Of the many witches and warlocks in our family that have done the impossible." Melissa smiled softly, remembering all the stories from her childhood.
But they're not just stories now, are they? They're real. It's all real.
"Are you...?" Alec trailed off looking up at his mother. Is his mother a witch? Was his grandmother? Granny Blair?
Melissa shook her head. "No. There hasn't been a witch in the family in over 5 decades. At least that's what Granny Blair told me. Let me," Melissa took the book from her son, flipped towards the back of the book, stopping at the page titled Delgado Family. Granny Blair always told Melissa where to look when she opened the book. Melissa handed the book back. "Our family tree. Magically updates from what Granny Blair told me."
It was indeed a family tree starting all the way back to 1692. The first ever Delgado witch, Phoebe Delgado. Ending with Scott and him. "Our names are hyphenated?" Alec questioned, looking down at his name. Alexander Jorge Delgado-McCall.
Melissa looked at the name, then followed her line. Melissa Blair Delgado-McCall. "I guess when I married your father, the book kept my maiden name even if I didn't keep it myself."
"You should." Alec muttered. Melissa gave him a look. They've had this talk about a thousand times. Alec wants to become a Delgado. It's his mothers name. The person who took care of him through everything. McCall was the name of the dead beat father, Alec wished would die.
"Is Scott a warlock?" Alec asked his mother.
Melissa shook her head, "I don't believe so. His line isn't golden. It's amber." Melissa looked at her youngest son's line , attaching it to hers. Her line was black, like it was her ancestors for the last three hundred years. A black line means no magic. That's what Granny Blair would tell her. Scott's line was amber. Alec's line though, was golden like his eyes but there was amber like Scott's mixed in.
"What does mine mean?"
"I think it means your two creatures. From what you told me, you and Scott were bitten by a werewolf." Alec blinked. Werewolf. Of course, they were bitten by a werewolf. Oh he was going to kill Stiles. "It's most likely both of you turned, but when you turned it unlocked the magic, or rather gave enough power to bring it to the surface."
"Great, so I'm a hybrid of some sort." Alec sighed, running a finger over Phoebe Delago's name.
Melissa nodded. "I think you are."
Alec swallowed, staring down at his name. Bright gold pulsed through his line. He wasn't human anymore. Maybe he never was.
