Chapter Text
Jess had just sat down with her grilled cheese from a long day of work when a loud bang sounded from the backyard of her house. The bang had startled her enough that she managed to drop the sandwich all over her clean pyjamas.
“Ah man, ma jammies. These were clean too.” She whined as she got up, dumping the plate and sandwich on the bench as she went to investigate the sound.
As if this day wasn’t long enough, now I’ve got to investigate this shin dig. And not get killed.
Grabbing the blanket off her couch and wrapping it around herself for extra warmth she headed towards the door, flicking the outdoor light on as she went.
Opening the door slightly she stuck her head out curiously and looked both ways before not seeing anything. Demming it safe she stepped onto her porch. Once out, she saw five figures lying on her garden bed seemingly unconscious.
Jess didn’t really have much self-preservation, and she was very aware of this as she called out to the unconscious people. “Hey? You guys aren’t dead, are you? Or murderers 'cause that would be bad, I don’t want to be murdered, I still have to finish Grey’s anatomy.” When she got no response she stepped down into the garden. “Okay I’m coming closer, please don’t kill me.”
Moving cautiously over to the immobile figures, she grabbed her phone light and shone it on the face of the first one.
Jess gave a whistle of appreciation as she looked at his face. “Damn buddy, you’ve got a killer face.” His face was chiselled, dark hair framing his face, slight stubble along his jaw, and not to be superficial, ‘he has a rad bod too damn’. He also looked like he was out of the 16 hundreds with the way he was dressed but she wasn’t gonna be one to judge with what she wore on the daily. Shining the light onto the others she found that there were four men and a woman, all equally attractive as each other. “Damn, how did supermodels end up in my backyard?”
Crouching down to the first man she had inspected, she gave his face a light tap, trying to stir some kind of response from him. In a sing-song voice she wished him awake, “Hey Mr. handsome, please wake up. You’re too handsome to be dead.” When he gave nothing, she moved on to the next, and the next, etcetera, only to find none of them stir. Giving a hum in thought, stood staring at them for a second. They were still breathing at least, she thinks?
“Well, I can’t just leave them out in the cold” Giving a shrug she started towards them. “Guess I’ll drag ‘em in for the night.”
She’ll admit that she hadn’t even thought to call the police. She got distracted by pretty faces.
What followed was an hour of awkward dragging of bodies. Jess almost gave up and just left them in the cold of her yard, but she kinda wanted them out of her garden as they had been crushing the veggies that she had spent all spring growing.
Once she got them all onto her porch in a line, she took a moment to take a breath, winded from the amount of exercise she had to do. “Holy moly, that’s the most exercise I’ve done since I was 20. How the hell are they so heavy.” Catching her breath she grabbed the blonde female's arms and started dragging her towards the door, only as soon as she tried to drag her through the door it was like an invisible force stopped her from going any further, no matter how hard she pulled.
Dropping her arms, she put her hands on her hips, taking a moment to stare at them. After a moment of thought she nodded her head. “Definitely vampires.” before turning back inside and grabbing some blankets for them.
Now keep in mind, that vampires did not exist in Jess’ universe. No matter that she was right in her guess of what they were, she literally just assumed that they were vampires because they couldn’t enter her house. And they were insanely attractive. She also had always wanted to meet a vampire but that had nothing to do with it.
Because if her crazy grandma could claim to be a witch then it was highly possible vampires existed too.
After grabbing blankets for all of them and placing them on their bodies (just cause they were bloodsuckers doesn’t mean she had to let them get cold), she went back into her house, grabbed a comfy chair, her wooden lamp stand which is the closest thing she had that resembled a stake, and dragged it all to the door opening, sitting safely just beyond there reach. Getting comfy, she draped the blanket on her lap and settled in, waiting for them to awaken.
She didn’t even last 30 minutes before she was out like a light.

Rebekah did not remember why she had been unconscious but she was not happy.
She could already feel the pain in her neck from where she assumed that it had been snapped at some point. She also felt the dirt on her skin and hair.
She was seething.
Giving a groan she slowly sat up. A blanket? Yes, a blanket fell onto her lap. She didn’t know why she had a blanket on her lap, but that was the least of her worries as she looked around and did not recognise a single thing around her, apart from all of her brothers who were for some reason in a line all on a porch, blankets also covering all of them.
Looking behind her after surveying the garden in front of her and finding nothing suspisious, she found a door open and a human sleeping on a chair, her mouth hanging open and glasses crooked on her face.
Checking that her brothers were fine, she saw that they were all breathing and that was good enough for her, she stood and walked to the door.
Giving a knock to the wood, she watched as the girl jumped up with a snort, hand flying around and smacking herself in the face. Rebekah would be amused if she wasn’t so suspicious of the girl.
“Right, now that you're awake, would you like to explain what is happening?”
Jess, still disorientated from waking suddenly, could only stare at the blonde bombshell that stood in front her her, her arms crossed as she seemed to look down her nose at her.
Standing and clearing her throat, she pushed her bulky glass up her nose. “Well, I wish I knew. It’s kinda like you came out of the sky, except I didn’t actually see how you came into my backyard, from the sky, or at all. I just found you in my veggie garden. With all those other guys.” Pausing to catch her breath she quickly continued, interrupting the blonde again. “And I totally didn’t mean to leave you guys out on the porch, but I physically couldn’t drag you guys in, it was like there was an invisible force stopping me. Hopefully, the blankets kept you warm. By the way, I’m Jess!”
Rebekah couldn’t help but stare at the girl silently.
‘She’s an idiot.’
“Right, well once my brothers are awake we’ll be out of your hair.” Walking towards Niklaus, she gave him a kick to the side, causing him to throw his arm out and pull her down by the leg.
“NIKLAUS!”
Realising that he had pulled his sister down he released her leg, causing her to speed away from him, a sneer on her face.
“You kicked me, sister, what was I to do?” He told her with a huff.
Scoffing at him, she turned to stare back at the girl that still stood in her doorway, wide-eyed and mouth hanging open. Realising she had used her super speed in front of a human, she just rolled her eyes, ‘she probably be dead in the next few minutes anyway’.
Her other brothers had all woken up by this stage, probably while she was shouting at Nik, and were staring at the spectacle before them.
“Well as you can see, we are in some unknown place, in some stranger's backyard who has a staring problem and no self preservation what so ever,” Gesturing to the human that was still staring at them. “And we have all had our necks snapped. I think it would warrant a kick Nik, I’m sure this is all your fault.”
Klaus's face grew outraged at her accusation, “Why would it be my fault, sister? One of your many lovers probably finally grew tired of you and we were all just the collateral damage.”
Rebekah went to rush at him, but Elijah grabbed her arm, halting her in place. “Amusing as this is, I think it best we try and figure out a way home instead of standing here arguing with each other like children.”
Jess finally snapped out of her shock, a giant gasp leaving her lips as she pointed at all of them, “I knew it, you guys are vampires! At first, I was like no, there is no way, but you are just all too good looking, like supermodels, and plus I couldn’t drag you through my door, which was weird. I’ve always wanted to meet vampires, man you guys should see the vampire costume I have and tell me if it’s accurate.” Jess ran off after that, not giving anyone a chance to reply.
Everyone on her porch could only stare after her in disbelief, the men for a different reason than Rebekah’s, who could only watch with her mouth hanging open at the strange human that just ran away.
Kol couldn’t believe it. After 1000 years, he had finally found his mate. In a strange, but delicious looking human, who had accurately assumed they were vampires.
When he had awoken to his siblings bickering, again, he had planned to just speed away and find a witch on his own to find a way home, but had paused and startled at the slightly naisly voice that had spoken.
Snapping out of his stupor he turned to his other siblings to find that they had the same look on their faces as he assumed that he had, had. Sneering at them, he realised they too had found their mate in his own.
When Finn had looked at the human that had interrupted his siblings he could only hold his breath. She was like nothing he had ever seen before. Breathtaking, large expressive blue eyes had been staring at them all in excited awe. They reminded him of the bluest of sky’s, so open and free.
While he had planned to help his mother take down his siblings and end his pained existence, this had changed everything. There was no way in this lifetime or the next that he would be leaving her anytime soon.
Klaus’s anger had melted away as soon as he’d laid eyes on the odd, but beautiful, human before him. She was dressed in a strange nighty, eyes of all things over the nighty as a pattern. When she’d opened her mouth he could only stare at her as she talked, completely taken with her strange words and open expressions.
He was over the moon (pun intended) as he realised that his happiness had finally found him, only for his heart to drop and see that all his brothers had the same love sick expression on all of their faces as well. He had to control the urge to rip them to shreds knowing that while his mate did not know of the bond, she would feel it if one of them died and he wouldn’t cause her unnecessary pain.
Elijah had dropped his sister’s arm as soon as he’d locked eyes with his mate. His expression dropping into awe. He’d never seen someone so beautiful in his life. Her beautiful dark hair was curled and wild framing her face, her glasses making her eyes look big and round.
Every previous affection he’d had for any past lovers was now gone as he stared after the strange girl. He’d never look at another woman now that he had found the one that was meant to be his. He glanced at his brothers, annoyance flowing through him as he realised what had happened. His mate wasn’t just his.
Rebekah glanced at all of her idiot brothers and couldn’t help but scoff in disbelief at them all, of course, the strange human would be their mate. And they’d have to share a mate. It couldn’t be anyone normal. She almost pity the human girl. Almost.
“Idiots.” Walking towards the door she gave a knock at the frame as she called out. “Excuse me, if you could come back and let us in, we need your help.”
Jess came racing back into view, a cape-like Dracula’s over her shoulders, lips seemingly bulging over her teeth as she stared at all of them, before letting her mouth open and hissing, ‘vampire’ teeth over her normal ones.
“Show? What do you fink? Am I a real vampire?” Her lisp with the teeth in was very comical.
Kol walked towards the door frame, leaning on it as he peered down at her. He found her very amusing and knew that they’d be having a lot of fun.
“Darling, as charming as that is, I must ask that you let us in. Well at least me, we needn’t worry about these other fools.” His siblings all scoffed at his remake but he easily ignored them. He’d been doing it for centuries now.
Jess gave a nod, taking her teeth out so she could answer him properly. “Sure you can come in, just how good is my vampire impression, you know, seeing as you guys are the experts?”
Gently brushing past her, he picked up her hand and placed a gentle kiss to the back of it before straightening and flashing her a charming smile. “10/10, I’d say, you look exactly like Nik.” He heard Nik start to protest but continued over his complaints. “My name is Kol, darling. What would be yours?”
Jess glanced at her kissed hand, feeling a tingle softly travel up her arm from the place he had touched her, and blushed slightly at the attention, before awkwardly giving a mock cursty to try and break the tension, putting on a fake British accent. “Names Jessica, but you can call me Jess.” Dropping the accent she looked at him seriously. “Please call me Jess, Jessica is so not right.”
Kols lips perked as he stared intensely down at her. “Jess, lovely name.”
“Yes, quite the charmer Kol, now if you would move out of the way so the rest of us may introduce ourselves to the lovely Jess.” Kol hiffed in annoyance but did move. Klaus stepped forward smiling at his mate.
“My name is Niklaus, love, please call me Nik. If you would mind inviting me into your home?”
“Or just invite the rest of us in perhaps? My name is Rebekah, and the two other idiots over there are Elijah and Finn. Now that introductions are out of the way, may we come in?”
Elijah and Finn rolled their eyes at Rebekah, but too looked at their mate to be invited in, narrowing their eyes at their youngest brother who stood close behind their mate staring at them smugly.
Jess shrugged, staring at them all smiling happily. “Sure, come on in Nik, Elijah, Finn and Rebekah, the more the merrier!”
Each smiled at her as they walked into her home, gently brushing shoulders with her. Elijah gently placed a hand on her back and led her further into her own home. Nik and Finn narrowed their eyes at him, knowing he was trying to get Jess to himself.
Still smiling at them all, she squinted slightly as she watched them all stare around at her living space.
“You know, it’s weird,” That caught all the sibling's attention, “you guys have all the same names as the bad guys from this show I’ve watched, and you kinda look like them. Hey, wouldn’t it be weird if your last name was Mikaelson?”
The silence that followed was very tense.
