Chapter Text
Lia thought this was bullshit. She had a feeling that the rest of her friends agreed. "Okay so let me get this straight now on top of going to school, patrolling the zoo every night, getting homework done, and working, we now also have to train a bunch of wannabe heroes," she knew that she should be more respectful to Mr. D and Tank but well given she would be losing sleep over this she felt that it was justified. The fact that she didn't receive a scolding from any of her friends showed their agreement.
"Now, now let's not be too hasty" Mr. Darby condescended. "You have not even met the scouts yet how can you have an opinion of them yet?"
"I feel like we can have an opinion about being forced into child labor," Sam snapped out.
"At least meet them"
"No"
"Fine, I did not want to do this but I ordered as the head of the Secret Zoo that Sam Johnson, Hannah Smith, Ophelia Kelley, Tameron Garcia, and Solana Garcia train the scouts in the art of crossing in and out of the Secret Zoo along with the context needed such as our history," a blinding rage filled her body she could not do this. Before she knew it the door of the small hut was slamming shut behind her. She quickened her pace until she was sprinting through the sector. Everything faded to a blur with only her breath in and out of her lungs and the pounding of her feet against the pavement. Eventually, the brush of the curtain brushed along her body. Unwilling she stopped and closed her eyes. Breathing wasn't supposed to be this difficult, was it? The burning in her eyes finally caught up. Letting her eyes flick around Ophila started forcing her way through the streets. There was nothing anyone could do now. They were stuck with the 'Action Scouts'.
Later that night Lia found herself pressed against Sam's body. Lia couldn't find it in herself to join the complaint session. Her eyes shut she just let the words drift by. "Stupid... We shouldn't have to.... better things to..." The thing that finally woke her was "Has anyone done the bio homework?" at that moment Lia decided to curse Solana out with every part of her being from the muttered curses around the room Hannah, Sam, and Tam agreed. As Elk felt Sam shift under her he said "It doesn't matter I'll have the teachers excuse it saying that we didn't have time because of our new assignment everyone should at least try to get some rest for a few hours we still have patrol then first thing tomorrow morning we are meeting up with the Scouts."
"Sleepover here?" Solana questioned. The world faded around her as the murmurs of her friend's voices pulled her to sleep
