It would have been so easy.
Shimazaki’s jacket would be in tatters, dragged along snapped rebar and the jagged edges of crumbled concrete, his shirt hiked up to his chin so Teruki could splay his fingers over his bare chest, fingertips digging half-moons into his skin.
There would be dust in Shimazaki’s hair. There would be dust in Teruki’s hair too. Part and parcel of crashing through abandoned buildings.
