Chapter 1: Chapter 1: (Un)Welcome
Notes:
Greetings to everyone.
I'm rewriting Helluva Knight. I already have a line of reasoning, I have some ideas, but I'm still working on them.
I don't know where this story is going, but I'll do my best.
I also ask for some help if you find any spelling mistakes, as English is not my native language.Ps: The Fate franchise and the Hellaverse do not belong to me. (I know I don't need to say this, but for some reason it's necessary)
Enjoy!
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
"You pulled the sword from the stone, you chose the hardest path."
"Britain must fall. You must perish."
"The King is too perfect."
"He doesn't even look human."
"He doesn't understand people's feelings."
"Britain should be mine to rule!"
"Mark my words, Artoria, I will destroy everything you have built."
"WHY DIDN'T YOU ACCEPT ME AS YOUR SON?"
"Do you hate me that much, father?"
"You're nothing but a deluded little girl!"
"ARTHUUURRRR!!!!!"
"I order you to destroy the Grail."
"Who else could I be? I am you..."
CRASH!!!
"WHAT THE FUCK?'
Pain. Pain. Too much pain.
She thought she heard someone screaming, for some reason. It doesn't matter. At that moment, all she could pay attention to was how much her head was buzzing and how sore her entire body was. The infernal sound of the horns, the screams and the chaotic movement only worsened the feeling of a hangover, even more so considering the super sensitivity of her senses.
"YOU FUCKING BITCH!"
"Hum!?" The girl gets up with a start, rubbing her hand on her head, still feeling dizzy.
"HEY, YOU BITCH!"
She looks in the direction where the voice came from. To say she was surprised by what she saw would be an understatement. The creature in front of her was a little taller than her, he was covered entirely in dark fur that extended from head to toe, with two tufts of fur resembling an owl. He wore a black overcoat and hat set. His face is made up of a pair of different eyes, the right one being normal and the left one being black with a red heart-shaped iris, and a set of pointed teeth in his mouth to complete his furious scowl.
"ARE YOU FUCKING DEAF?"
"What...?" She still couldn't decide whether to be shocked by the owl monster's appearance or by his sailor-like mouth spewing vulgarity with every sentence.
"HOLY FUCKING SHIT! LOOK AT THE SHIT YOU DID!"
The girl realized she was on top of a broken down car. It wasn't a difficult task to connect the dots and understand the reason for the monster's anger. Apparently she had crash-landed on top of his car.
"Oh?! I'm so sorry!" She quickly gets out of the crumpled car.
"My car. My beautiful car. I finished paying for it today." The monster said with a melancholic voice, lamenting what was left of his car. The girl even felt a little sorry for him, especially because it was her fault, even if it wasn't intentional.
BIIIIIIIII
The girl is startled by the shrill noise of the horn. Before she could look around, her instinct made her body move backwards automatically, and to her surprise a truck passed at high speed in front of her. There was no time to think, as her instincts warned her again, and this time a car passed by and the driver didn't even bother to honk.
"GET OUT OF THE STREET, YOU CRAZY BITCH!" The driver of the car shouted.
What a rude guy. But he was right, maybe it's better to get out of the street. She quickly returned to the broken car where the owl monster was still wailing. Now she started to feel sick too.
"Hum... I apologize about your car an-"
"Apologies? APOLOGIES!?" The monster abruptly stood up and turned towards her with an expression of purest hatred. "DO YOU REALLY THINK AN APOLOGY IS GOING TO SOLVE THIS SHIT, YOU FUCKING BITCH?"
"I-" She desperately tries to justify herself, but her instinct reacts again, making her dodge a shot that ends up hitting a poor unfortunate monster that was passing behind.
There was no time to think, as she soon heard a 'click'.
"I'M GOING TO FUCKING KILL YOU!" Said the owl in the overcoat, preparing another shot. Where did he get that shotgun from?
"W-wait!" She can barely complete the sentence and already has to dodge three shots in a row. "M-mister, could y-" She dodges two more shots.
"STOP MOVING, DAMMIT!" The monster says, getting more and more frustrated until he has to stop to reload the shotgun.
"Could you listen to me for a moment?" She takes advantage of this pause to try to argue.
"SHUT THE FUCK UP!" The monster shoots again, slowly advancing towards the middle of the street, forcing the girl to dodge and retreat closer to the sidewalk. Some of these shots hit other unfortunates. Seriously? What's this guy's problem? From what she can see, he doesn't give a damn about the collateral damage he's causing either.
Even though she was focused on dodging the gunshots, her sharp ears were still able to pick up a familiar sound.
"Mister!" Taking advantage of the fact that the furious monster had to stop to reload its ammunition again, she says in a warning tone. The girl knows that this monster doesn't deserve the warning, but for some reason, her sense of morality tells her to do it.
"FUCK YOU!"
The angry owl monster was about to shoot again until he was brutally run over by a van with a large logo that said 'Helluva Post', causing his blood and some pieces of viscera to splatter on top of it.
The shock made the girl retreat even further until she felt a sudden push from behind that made her stumble and crash into another monster. This time it was a very corpulent humanoid wolf with brown fur, almost twice his size, wearing ripped pants and a tank top exposing his scarred arms with thorn bracelets and a mohawk hairstyle to complete his punk style. He looked at her with an angry expression.
"What's up, bitch? Are you blind? Didn't you see me here?" The werewolf said, practically growling at her and making a point of showing off his sharp canines.
"I'm sorry, it wasn't-" Before she could finish justifying herself, her instincts kicked in again and she backed away before the werewolf could grab her, but that only served to make him angrier. "Look-" She dodges another right punch. "I was-" She dodges a blow from his large sharp claws that hits a small red monster with a pair of bicolored horns, killing it instantly and spreading a black liquid that she assumed was blood across the floor.
A sound of laughter caught her attention. She was so focused on dodging that she didn't notice a small crowd that had gathered to watch the fight unfold, some of them were filming with their cell phone cameras. The girl really wasn't enjoying this kind of attention. The cacophony of sounds and lights was confusing her senses. She still didn't quite understand how she got into this mess, but she had to put an end to it soon.
"May we talk?" She was also getting impatient.
The humanoid wolf just let out a growl in response and continued trying to attack her frantically, and the more she dodged the more his red eyes shone with fury. The girl continues to dodge and retreat from each attack until she feels her back hit a hard surface, the wall of a building. The werewolf, seeing that his prey was cornered, goes all out to attack with a right punch. She manages to dodge it by rolling to the side and ending up behind him at the last second, causing the punch to hit the wall and causing a crack in the area.
The werewolf just turns to her smiling as if he didn't feel anything after punching a wall. The girl lets out a tired sigh. She would like to try to resolve this mess peacefully, but it looks like that will be impossible.
Her instincts alerted her again, the werewolf had gone on the attack again and his claws were close to touching her, but instead of dodging again, the girl acted on reflex and surprised him by grabbing him by the wrist and throwing him back towards the small crowd of monsters that were vibrating with excitement. The girl looks at her pale hands, equally surprised. She didn't know she had so much strength. The werewolf stood up without the same smile as before, but even more furious.
"YOU'RE FUCKING DEAD!" He advances with full speed.
The girl notices a strange light surrounding the werewolf, then his body begins to change, taking on a completely canine appearance, with two more pairs of eyes appearing on his cheeks.
The big brown wolf jumps on top of her with its mouth open, showing his canines that seemed to have doubled in size after the transformation.
The wolf was anxious and ready to dismember the girl, but he barely registered what happened next. He only felt a fist hitting his face with great force and throwing him against part of the crowd, practically opening a hole in the monster's wheel and making him crash into the wall.
The crowd immediately fell silent. More monsters approached to form a silent audience, wanting to know what would happen next, and those with cell phones in their hands made a point of sharing everything they witnessed.
The young girl remained standing with a serious and calm expression, after all she saw that she could deal with this easily so she had nothing to fear. The same could not be said of her opponent, the wolf struggled to get up, still half dazed he spit something on the ground, a broken tooth. He was furious at such humiliation, but unlike the other times the wolf did not advance immediately. The girl soon realized that he had changed strategy and was being more cautious.
The wolf remains growling and prepares for a new attack. When he was going to advance, the building behind him exploded, sending everyone nearby flying. What was once Club Hell 666 is now just ruins of fire and smoke.
"Cough, cough..." Thick purple smoke invades her lungs. It smelled like glitter and some other substance she couldn't identify, but whatever it was, it was sweet, and it made her dizzy and want to vomit.
She had the impression of seeing two silhouettes, the taller one had the appearance of a humanoid spider, and the shorter one appeared to be a cyclops girl with wild hair. It was difficult to make out any more details because of the intoxicating smoke, but they seemed quite happy. They were clearly the authors of this mess.
Ever since she was still human, Cherri Bomb was a party girl who liked to enjoy every second of her life as if it were her last, a characteristic that remained after falling into Hell and was intensified thanks to her immortality as a Sinner. She does whatever she wants, blows up whatever she wants, fucks whoever she wants, drinks and uses drugs without any moderation. They said it was Hell, but for her it was better than anything Heaven had to offer. Cherri knows how privileged her afterlife is and has nothing to complain about.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for most other people. Angel Dust was one of the unlucky ones who sold their souls and now has to face the consequences. The two met in one of the hundreds of territorial disputes decades ago and have been an inseparable dynamic duo ever since. When Angel felt comfortable enough to open up about his pain, it was the day they began to see each other not only as partners in crime, but also as best friends. Something she never thought was possible in Hell.
After countless nights of comforting her best friend, needless to say, Cherri wanted to shove a bunch of explosives up that piece of shit Valentino's asshole. In fact, she managed to get a good laugh out of Angel when she suggested this idea. But he refused, Angel was explicitly clear in saying that he didn't want her to get involved with that scumbag. "This is my mess and I'm going to deal with it." That's what he always said when she brought it up.
Since she couldn't do anything about Valentino, she decided to help in the second best way she knew how. Taking advantage of the fact that today would be Angel's day off, she invited him for a night of uninhibited fun filled with gunshots, explosions, crack, maybe a few doses of LSD and indirect revenge by blowing up one of that lousy moth's clubs.
"Hahahaha, holy shit! I really needed this. Thanks, Cherri."
"Hahaha, that's what friends are for."
Suddenly, the dynamic duo found themselves surrounded by a band of demons armed to the teeth and thirsty for blood.
"You better have some energy left, Angel. Because this night is just beginning!" Cherri said excitedly, taking more bombs from her pocket.
"Oh yeah, baby!" Angel said equally excitedly, taking out his machine guns from somewhere. "LET'S FUCK THEM!"
The young girl is leaning against a wall. She had taken advantage of the convenient distraction caused by those two monsters to escape and is now catching her breath after running for a long time.
Now that she had room to breathe, she could think more calmly. The girl continued walking while analyzing the place. Her heightened senses are suffering from the overstimulation caused by the intense noise and visual pollution of the city. She couldn't help but cover her nose as soon as she caught the putrid smell of sulfur and rotten eggs, probably because of the building on fire, or the garbage and trash strewn across the streets.
What are the leaders thinking to allow the city to reach such a state of calamity?
It took a while for her eyes to adjust to the neon lights contrasting with the red sky. Some buildings were large and luxurious, others were decaying ruins. And they seemed to really like eyes in their decor, as most places featured strange red eyes that lodged like roots.
"VOXTECH PRODUCTS! TRUST US!"
She got a fright. Her eyes hurt from the bright light. The monsters that seemed hypnotized by the advertisement on television entered the store in a flurry. With nothing much to do, the girl decided to continue exploring this strange city.
She wandered through the streets, which were filled with creatures she couldn't describe. Some looked like small horned demons, others were tall and sensual with a set of horns and wings. Some looked like clowns, others were animalistic like the wolf she faced earlier, but there were other species like fishes, sharks and goats with candles on their heads. And several that looked like walking chimeras because they were so confused.
At some point she saw a goat monster simply bumping into a shark monster, something that is perfectly understandable in a super busy city, but it seems that the shark didn't think that, because it was enough to pull out a pistol and shoot the goat in the head, scattering its brains on the floor. As if that wasn't enough, he stole the poor guy's wallet and kept shooting until the ammunition ran out. The worst part was having to see other monsters appear to devour what was left of the corpse.
At another point, she saw a group of chimera monsters setting fire to one of the many homeless people sleeping on the street. On the corner, she saw a group of sharks in suits machine-gunning a little devil tied to a pole. In most of the alleys, there were monsters mating like rabbits, without any shame or embarrassment about being in a public place.
It took a Herculean effort to maintain her composure while she felt the gazes of some people following her. It was amazing how everyone simply went about their lives normally, while such absurd things were happening that almost made her vomit right there.
It was disgusting. Everything in this city was utterly disgusting.
She even considered asking someone for directions, but the monsters' propensity for senseless violence made her give up on that idea. Without many alternatives, the girl just went on her way until her instincts warned her again.
She stopped walking and took a step back. Half a second later, the window of the bar next to her exploded in green smoke that smelled of alcohol and roast meat. Her eyes fixed on what was left of the window, or rather, what it showed.
For the first time since she arrived here, she stopped to analyze her appearance. Her features seemed more human than most of these monsters, except for her abnormally white skin, her small black cat nose and yellowish eyes with red irises, apart from these details she looked like a teenager. Her short hair was a dull blonde color, loose and reached her shoulders, it was perfectly straight, but there was a rebellious strand on top of her head. She wore a set of fine clothes that consisted of a royal blue dress with gold details, a white shirt, skirt and pants, and a pair of brown leather boots. It was no wonder she drew attention, she stood out from the environment like a sore thumb.
The girl entered one of the empty alleys that didn't smell so strong of sex or putrefaction to try to organize her thoughts. What the hell is this place? Why are all its inhabitants bizarre monsters? Why is she here? How did she end up here? She tries to remember something about her past only to discover that her memory is a fog, but a feeling of tightness in her heart prevailed, which was strange because she was physically healthy.
GROOOWWWL...
Almost.
She was hungry. So much had happened today that only now did she realize that the red sky had darkened a little, indicating that it was already night. Going deeper into the alley she found trash cans and cardboard boxes.
She didn't want to have to do this, but what other choice did she have? She had no one to turn to, and asking any of those monsters for help would result in more headaches.
The girl arranged the cans and cardboard boxes to build a shelter where no one could see her when she was sleeping. Finishing her makeshift shelter, she sat on the floor and was startled by the feeling of something on her bottom. Furrowing under her skirt, she felt a scaly texture and pulled it out. It was a tail. A lion's tail, but covered in black scales with a tuft of fur that was yellow, just like her hair on the tip.
She pulled again. "Ouch!" And regretted it the moment she felt the pain.
Of course it was her tail.
Sigh.
She doesn't want to think about it. She was tired...
GROOWL...
...And hungry.
The girl just settled into a comfortable position and closed her eyes to try to fall asleep.
The next day, the girl woke up in her hiding place in the alley. The sky was a less dark red, suggesting that it was already dawn. She sighed sadly, because she really wanted it all to be just a nightmare and that in the morning she would wake up in a warm futon and then eat a delicious breakfast made by Shirou...
"...Shirou?"
Who is this Shirou? Why did she think of this person?
Suddenly, her head starts to throb with pain.
"G**d mo****g, S**e*."
The girl holds her chest and curls up, struggling to breathe. Her heart beat like a drum. The pain was so bad it felt like she had been stabbed. Her vision blurred, she felt her eyes burning and the heat of liquid running down her cheeks.
Was she crying? Why was it hurting so much? Was it guilt? Regret?
"Who am I?"
GROOOWWWL...
Her stomach growled again.
She hadn't eaten anything since she arrived the day before. She is very hungry and needs to find food and shelter soon, but... at this moment... the girl doesn't want to get up. She had no will or energy for anything. She just wanted to sit there in that alley and wait for something or someone to put an end to her pain.
"Fou."
"Hum!" The sound catches the girl's attention.
"Fou."
The girl looks from side to side, searching for where the noise came from, until she feels something pulling her tail.
"Fou."
It was a strange combination of squirrel and fox that resulted in a cute little creature with white fur and violet eyes. The little coat only served to highlight its cuteness even more and make it stand out even more from everything she had seen since arriving there.
"Fou."
"Oh... hi to you too, little one." She tries to smile and greet the furball.
"Fou, fou-kyuu." The little creature began to rub its head against her as if asking for affection, a request that she cautiously responded to. "Foouu..." He was purring. Oh, my God! He's so cute that it was a challenge to control her urges to squeeze him. Not content with that, the little creature climbs onto her lap and curls up.
"... So... are you lost too, huh?" The creature's fur was too clean and soft to be a simple stray animal. And since he was wearing clothes, it clearly belonged to someone.
"Fou, foou." She will take this as confirmation.
"Looks like we're in the same boat after all." The girl says, looking downcast. She lets out a short sigh and continues her rant. "I've barely arrived and I've already had an... intense day, to put it mildly." She lets out a small sniff. "Actually, I don't even know where here is." Her eyes burned again. "I don't even know why I ended up here. I don't know who I am or who I used to be." It was like a dam had been broken. The tears began to fall again even more furiously than before.
The creature settled further into her lap as if trying to comfort her. The lion girl stroked the soft white fur. Then she hugged him even tighter, but being careful not to accidentally suffocate him.
Why couldn't she remember anything before she fell into this place? Why didn't she even know her own name? Why does she feel like she deserves to be here?
Time passed. 1 minute, 1 hour. It doesn't matter. The girl just wanted to keep crying, hugging the cute creature. She just wanted the pain to end. Her lament is interrupted by the ringing of a bell.
Notes:
Hello again!
I hope you enjoyed it.This was an idea that had been on my mind for a long time. I love Artoria (Saber) and, to be honest, it always frustrated me a lot to see so much of her potential being underused. She's the mascot of Type Moon and her route gets a terrible adaptation? WTF dude! That's why, in my opinion, the best adaptation of the character is the one from Fate/Zero.
Don't expect a frequent update schedule, because I'm slow at writing. It will depend on how motivated I feel to continue.Ps: People with a PhD in Nasuverse, please answer me a sincere question:
Can Angelic Weapons be considered Divine Constructs?
Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The Hunger Games
Summary:
Extermination Day. That's the summary.
Notes:
Holy shit! What a hard chapter to write. I was planning on posting it before the weekend, but my personal life didn't allow it. I also fixed the spacing issue in the first chapter that was really bothering me. Anyway... Enjoy.
To make it clear before anyone asks, this story takes place after the Heaven's Feels route.

P.s: Try to imagine Artoria speaking with a British accent.

Chapter Text
The lion girl is in her makeshift hideout, made from trash cans and cardboard boxes, in the alley. She knew she needed to find food and decent shelter soon, but she was stuck in a spiral of pain and regret, with no energy or drive to do anything. Her only solace was the company of this strange, fluffy little white fox.
She didn't notice the furball's ear twitching.
"Fou!?"
"Hum?" She only noticed when the creature writhed in her lap.
The little fox gestured with his head, pointing out of the alley, towards the eerily silent streets.
"What the-?" Her train of thought was interrupted by the sound of a bell ringing in the distance.
She stood up and walked to the entrance of the alley. Looking in the direction where the noise had come from, her sharp vision identified a cathedral on the horizon behind the tall buildings with chimneys. The refined and luxurious architecture made it stand out from all the other buildings in the city. An unnatural yellow light radiated from the church, giving it an almost divine appearance.
"Fou, fou." The creature gestured with its head again, this time pointing to the red sky.
Suddenly, the lion girl felt a chill run down her spine. She flinched slightly out of reflex, her fur stood on end, her tail curled down and wrapped around her legs. There was a strange presence in the air, she didn't know how to describe it, it felt like something... sacred?
"Fou, fou, fou-kyuu!"
And it seems that the little white fox had the same feeling, because the moment it jumped into her arms, a golden spark appeared and expanded in the sky, forming a huge white and golden circle. Is that... a portal? The bad feeling got worse when she saw winged figures coming out of the portal, descending from the heavens like angels.
The girl returned to the alley, this time going a little further in. She didn't want to risk getting lost in the maze of buildings, so she made a new makeshift shelter out of cardboard and trash cans for herself and her fox companion near the fork.
The girl's keen hearing picked up the sound of wings beating in the sky and screams in the streets. Her heart sank. Something inside her told her to go out there and help whoever it was, but at that moment she was huddled under cardboard, drowning in guilt and self-pity.
Pathetic.
Her hands gripped her knees tighter. The burning sensation in her eyes was slowly returning. She would cry again.
Like the weak, pathetic little girl you are.
"Fou? Fooou..." The little fox snuggled back down next to her. He must have sensed her insecurity.
GROOOW
She really needed to find food soon, even if she had to hunt for it. But her instincts told her that leaving now wouldn't be a good idea, so... perhaps... she could sleep just a little, perhaps that way her hunger could be tolerated and she could rest and conserve her strength better.
"Oh, fuck!"
But of course fate wouldn't let things be that easy, and she would have to be rudely awakened by this cyclops girl tripping over her and being accompanied by the winged figures.
In the center of Pentagram City, the cathedral's Clock Tower struck exactly 9:00 AM. The enormous hourglass, which took up most of the tower's structure, contained all of its sand at its base. The day counter displayed the number 0. The sound of the bell ringing echoed magically throughout the Pride Ring.
"Shit! Shit! Shit! Shit!" Said a panicked wasp demon.
"Oh, fuck! I completely forgot!" Said a hellhound hurrying to find a hiding place.
"Oh man! I'm fucked! Completely fucked! I don't think I'll be as lucky this year." Said a big-headed three-eyed demon.
"Why? What the fuck is going on?" An iguana demon asked his pal. His name is Jerry and he had been in Hell for a month, so there was a lot he didn't know yet.
"Look, dude. I'm just going to give you one piece of advice: run if you want to live!" The three-eyed demon started running too.
The iguana demon didn't understand why all the demons, normally violent, stopped everything they were doing and scattered in panic, until he saw a white and golden light appearing in the sky. Above the Clock Tower, the light formed into a portal from which winged figures emerged.
Angels.
After passing through the portal, the angels wasted no time and dove in at full speed. Jerry finally understood. This was the event he had heard everyone talking about since he arrived in Hell. The annual event feared by all inhabitants of the Pride Ring.
The Extermination Day.
Most Hellborns had migrated to the other Rings in advance. However, Sinners like him did not have this privilege. They were prisoners of Pride.
The iguana demon, like the other demons present, began to run away from the angelic army. His heart raced. Adrenaline coursed through his entire body. At that moment, the primordial emotion prevailed: fear. Jerry ran until his legs hurt, or at least until he felt a sharp metal piercing his back and burning his flesh, even without fire.
The angel that attacked him was a female figure wearing a grayish mesh uniform, with silver gloves and boots. Her two-tone wings sported black feathers on the outside and white with two black stripes on the inside. Her silver helmet had twisted black horns, the only element that differentiated them from each other. The angel's mask was a kind of LED screen displaying an X in place of the right eye and a sadistic smile, as if she was delighting in his suffering.
This was the last vision Jerry had before the Exorcist pierced his head with the sacred spear and condemned his existence to eternal void.
BOOM
True to her name, Cherri Bomb throws one of her bombs at the Exorcists. Even though it was practically useless, since she knew that angels wouldn't die even with nuclear explosions, it was still a good distraction. She manages to hide among some ruins in the Entertainment District to catch her breath.
"Fuck." Internally she curses herself for having overdone it yesterday, and completely forgetting that today would be Extermination Day.
Cherri had invited Angel to spend the night at her house, but he refused and left the night before. He was probably already in some shelter, in this case, Valentino's sex dungeon.
Those who had access to underground shelters or the protection of an Overlord could survive "quietly" for another year. As for the unfortunates who found themselves on the streets during that fateful day, they could only count on luck.
Hidden beneath the ruins, Cherri could see several figures flying in the sky and diving at the speed of a gunshot. The heavenly army massacred any demon they saw, regardless of whether they were Sinners or Hellborns.
Most of the demons that had run with her were killed, and those that hid were soon found and killed. Cherri had to get out of there, because it was only a matter of time before an Exorcist found her in her hiding place. The cyclops girl prepares some bombs and peers through the cracks in the ruins in search of an opening.
And she finds one.
Realizing that most of the angels were busy hunting other demons, she took the opportunity to run again. It wasn't long before some Exorcists spotted her and wasted no time in hunting her down as well.
Thanks to her senses and reflexes trained by decades of battles for territory, Cherri was able to pick up the sound of flapping wings, even amidst the chaos, approaching quickly and dodging a sacred spear at the last second. She lights the fuse of three bombs and throws one at another angel approaching to her right.
BOOM
Arriving at the intersection, the bomber turns to the left, dodging the attack of another angel coming from behind and takes the opportunity to throw the second bomb.
BOOM
Thanks to her enhanced physical abilities, she is able to jump, avoiding a low attack. Cherri turns around, throwing the third bomb.
BOOM
Now in the Southwest Border Zone of the Pentagram, Cherri accompanies other demons to a warehouse with a public underground shelter that she has used a few times to spend Extermination Day. The doors were being closed, she had to go fast.
Almost there. Not long to go-
The bomber was surprised by a push that made her stumble and fall to her knees. She only didn't fall face first onto the ground because her reflexes were quicker and she put her hands out in front of her to break her fall.
"Fuck you, bitch." Said the asshole who knocked her down. A Sinner demon with a lizard face and red hair who looked at her mockingly and gave her the middle finger before entering the shed.
She's definitely going to KILL this MOTHERFUCKER!
Getting up quickly, Cherri ran back to the shed only to find the door closed.
"Fuck!" Said the frustrated cyclops girl, banging her fist on the door.
Some demons were also banging on the door in despair.
"LET ME IN!"
"OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR!"
It seems she wasn't the only one used as bait.
"AAAAAHH!!!" The scream of pain caught everyone's attention. Behind them, an Exorcist had just killed an imp with her spear. Four more angels appeared soon after. Their masks displayed huge smiles that stretched from ear to ear.
They found a feast.
"Fuck!" Cherri had to agree with the Sinner demon. They were so fucked up.
The Exorcist removes the spear from the corpse and swings it, spreading the excess black blood on the ground. The group of five Exorcists approached unhurriedly, like predators toying with their prey.
The cyclops girl gritted her teeth in worry. Her mind was going 1000 km/h thinking about what she could do to escape this shit. Maybe a distraction would do the trick. Without taking her eye off the angels, she looks for something that might be useful in her pocket.
The Exorcists wasted no more time, one by one they flapped their wings to gain momentum. The closest demons could barely react, they soon felt the angelic iron burning their flesh. The others ran in panic. The murderous angels soon also dispersed in different directions, following their prey.
Cherri and the other two demons in her company were followed by two angels. They quickly caught up to the two Sinners and were now coming after her. The cyclops girl reaches out to grab a traffic sign and manages to make a sharp turn, luckily avoiding a spear strike that hits another demon.
"Now it's 156 for me." Said the Exorcist taking the spear out of the demon's body.
"Ouch!" However, she wasn't fast enough to dodge the second angel's attack that hit her left shoulder, and she almost lost her arm.
"Oh, shit. I almost tied." Said the other Exorcist a little frustrated.
She immediately understood what was happening, these winged motherfuckers have an internal competition to see who can kill the most and now they were fighting over her head. How wonderful. In other circumstances, she would even make a sarcastic comment about feeling flattered.
She had to act fast.
"FUCK YOU, BITCHES!" The cyclops girl throws the grenade she had prepared earlier.
BOOOM
The thick smoke, laced with glitter and LSD, covered the area, drawing the attention of other angels nearby. The fog caused by the explosion was quickly dispelled by the furious flapping of the Exorcists' wings. Their prey had disappeared, but leaving a trail of blood.
After running for a long time, Cherri stops in an alley in the Industrial District.
"Argh..." The cyclops girl groans in pain from the wound on her shoulder. "Fuck..." It will take a long time to heal, and will probably never be the same again. She sits on the floor and rips a piece of her pantyhose leg to make a makeshift bandage.
There were few corpses along the way, and there was also no movement of other demons on the streets. Add that to the fact that it was a more enclosed area with a dense number of tall buildings and factories, and you had a reasonable place to hide on Extermination Day, although not as good as the public shelters. But what could she do, right? In desperate times she couldn't be picky.
Maybe, just for a minute, she can afford to breathe, just for a minute.
WHOOSH
Of course, there's no way to relax. The sound of a figure immediately put her on alert. Cherri quickly jumped to the side only for an angelic steel spear to hit the spot where she was sitting.
"Fuck!" She says, gritting her teeth. How many times must she have said 'fuck' today alone? Although it fits perfectly, because today has been a pile of fuck one after the other.
What the fuck!
She hated having to run away. She would rather go down shooting than run away from a fight. She was used to facing psychopaths, but it was different when it came to invincible winged psychopaths who could kill her permanently.
Cherri had already lost count of how many attacks she dodged and how many curves she turned. She just kept running in the hope of losing those fucking winged psychopaths. The cyclops girl was totally focused on running and dodging, she could barely pay attention to what was in front of her.
POW
"Oh, fuck!" That's why she tripped over something and fell face down on the floor.
Getting up with some difficulty with her hand on her sore face, Cherri realizes that she has tripped not over something but over someone who was sitting amidst a pile of cardboard boxes and garbage bags.
A pale-skinned demon girl with blonde hair and a lion's tail wearing a fancy blue and white dress that had apparently seen better days. Along with her was a little white fox of some sort. In all these years, Cherri had never seen such a cute creature in the entire Pride Ring , nor did it seem like it belonged in Hell. The lion girl didn't hide her surprise, but there was no time for introductions.
"Fou." Said the little fox looking irritated.
"Urgh, girl. You better run if you want to live." She tries to warn her, after all, Cherri might be a Sinner, but she wasn't such a jerk as to use someone as bait to save herself.
"Hmm! W-Who ar-" The lion girl couldn't finish her speech.
"Well, well, two for the price of one." The voice caught the attention of the three.
The Exorcists trio had found them. The LEDs on their masks displayed an expression of sadistic satisfaction. Cherri turned around ready to run, only to come face to face with a pair of Exorcists blocking the alley's exit.
That's it. Once again, they were completely fucked.
The angels approach without much haste, once again acting like predators toying with cornered prey.
Cherri instinctively retreats until she feels her back against the wall. With her right arm she searches in her pocket trying to find something useful, there is only one bomb left. Maybe, she could create an opening.
Only now did the bomber realize that the lion girl hadn't moved an inch. In fact, her posture was relaxing. Even looking at her from behind, Cherri recognized that posture wasn't one of tranquility that she saw in many demons confident in their own power, but one of resignation.
"Say goodbye, demons." Said one of the angels in the trio. The Exorcist flapped her wings to gain momentum and advanced on the lion girl first.
PUNCH
What happened next no one expected. The lion girl had held the Exorcist's spear with her right hand, and with her left hand she punched the angel's face, sending her flying until she crashed into the wall.
"Hoolyy shiit..."
The cyclops demon's words summed up everyone's thoughts there.
The army of Exorcists spent the entire year preparing for Extermination Day. To most of the angels in Heaven, this task might be seen as repugnant, but to them it was a sacred duty. They were all handpicked by The First Man to protect Heaven and rid creation of these demonic vermin.
Once the annual ritual began, it was a competition to see who could kill the most demons. Nothing like a healthy internal rivalry to encourage them to improve themselves, since there wasn't much challenge these sinners could offer other than running and hiding in the most degrading places possible. It actually suited these pests quite well.
Naturally, those who came out ahead had an advantage in the game, and the number of prey had quickly become scarce. Since the cleanup was well underway, and there was still some time left, then why not have some fun?
In the end, it seemed they had won the lottery, as this pursuit was rewarded by two sinners. The squad split up to surround them and block any chance of escape. It was rare for any fool to try to fight back, and the few who did were quickly killed. Therefore, nothing could have prepared them for this.
The Exorcist who was punched in the face gets up with difficulty, rejecting any attempt at help from her colleague. The mask's LED screen was cracked, causing some glitches in the image, but the angry expression was still identifiable.
She couldn't say what angered her more, the fact that a single punch had practically sent her flying, or that this demonic worm had remained impassive. Even now, her expression was completely neutral.
"Damn! Do you think that's going to leave a mark?" Angels couldn't be hurt, much less killed by anything. Their divine protection ensures that. But that doesn't mean they can't feel sensations like pain, even if they were quite resistant. Anyway, that comment only worsened her mood.
"Shut up! That bitch just got lucky."
"I wouldn't say it was just luck." The other angel didn't even bother to hide her ironic smile.
"Tsk, fuck off. Are you going to keep talking shit or are you going to help me finish the job?" Rhetorical question.
The Exorcist didn't wait for an answer, she readied her spear and advanced on the sinner in the blue dress who dodged at the last second without fighting back this time. Her colleague tried an aerial attack, but she dodged it again.
How annoying.
"YOU GUYS! COME HERE!" The other angels blocking the exit got the message. They would deal with the problematic sinner first.
The lion girl found herself surrounded by the five angels. At first, she just wanted something to end her suffering and had accepted the ironic way that the universe or some other higher entity offered to grant her wish. Her brain didn't even register what had happened before she felt her fist collide with the angel.
Why?
The angels shot as fast as bullets, attacking with spears, swords, daggers. Their attacks kept coming from random directions, and she would remain motionless until a blade came dangerously close.
You don't even have memories. You have no purpose. You have no reason to live. Why do you still go on?
She didn't know how to answer.
Why do you keep swerving?
She wanted to let a blade take her life. She just wanted it to be over. But...
The nameless girl dodges a double aerial attack that forces her to leave her spot for the first time since this one-sided fight began. She couldn't explain it, but every time a blade came close she felt something, a pulsating sensation of heat that was becoming more and more intense.
Maybe it's the few cuts that grazed her, creating some tears in her dress and causing some blood to flow...
You should just die.
STAB
Her right hand was bleeding from holding the blade that pierced her left shoulder. It would be her heart if she didn't. It hurt a lot. Not just because of the cut, there is something more to these weapons. Something that burned her every time she was hit.
"Just fucking die, bitch!" The angel said, pushing the sword harder, causing more pain.
No.
The lion girl put more strength into removing the blade from her shoulder.
It wasn't just the effect of the weapons.
This feeling. This fire. It was something different that made her vision turn red.
"Go. Fuck. Yourself."
The last thing the Exorcist saw was a pair of yellow eyes glowing crimson before she felt a heavy fist on her face, sending her flying between two of her colleagues and crashing into the wall. Even though she wasn't bleeding, the force of the impact was enough to completely shatter her mask and make her faint.
The remaining four Exorcists froze with wide eyes. It's just a simple sinner. It shouldn't be difficult.
The girl didn't even look the same as before. The color of her eyes changed, now red with yellowish irises and slit-like pupils. Vertical black marks appeared on her face, going from her cheeks, across her eyelids and ending on her forehead. Her head sported two pairs of black horns similar to those of a female imp, the smaller pair in the front and the larger pair in the back. Her hands, now with sharp black claws instead of nails, wielded the sword of their fallen colleague.
How is it possible for a demon to hold an angelic weapon?
The sinner looked at them with a cold and neutral expression. The Exorcist, the same one who had the cracked mask, was a mix of emotions, alternating between anger, indignation and... fear? Her hands that held her spear were shaking. Her colleagues were not in a very different situation either. Were they afraid of a miserable sinner?
Unacceptable!
How could they explain this to their Lieutenant? To their Commander? They are Exorcists! They are proud celestial soldiers! They put fear into demons!
"Keep your guard up!" Said the Exorcist, drawing the attention of her colleagues. "Attack quickly and without mercy!" She advanced first, aiming her spear at the demon's heart. Someone had to take the lead after all.
Wrath.
The lion girl may not know much about herself, but she knows she's not the type to swear. However, ever since she arrived at this damned place, one misfortune had happened after another and she was no longer able to contain herself.
Fuck it! It doesn't matter if they are really angels or if she will suffer some heavenly retaliation in the future, she will kill them all.
Taking a guard stance, she blocks the leader angel's spear with her sword, and using her superior strength, she deflects the spear tip downwards leaving a cut mark on the floor. Her instinct kicked in again, making her turn back to block another angel's sword, this time diverting the direction of the attack upwards. The lion girl crouched down a little, concentrating strength in her legs to make a super jump of at least 13 feet, causing the spears of the last two angels that attacked from above to hit the floor.
Even though her hands felt warm from being in contact with the sword, she stood firm using all her willpower to not show any pain.
"Cowards." She muttered softly, but it was enough to reach the angels' ears.
"What did you say?" The squad leader asked.
"You heard me." The lion girl replied, pointing the blade at the angels. "You chase a wounded person for fun, you attack a person in a group. You don't have an ounce of honor." Her red eyes glowed brighter. "I don't care what kind of imitation angels you are." She holds the sword at the side close to her face, assuming a new guard stance. "I will show no mercy."
Her provocation worked perfectly, as the expressions on their masks were of utter indignation.
"Shut the FUCK UP! What would a demon know about honor!?" The lead angel flapped his wings, shooting towards him like a bullet. Her colleagues were not left behind.
The lion girl blocked and dodged a succession of quick, frantic attacks from all sides, wielding her sword with grace and fluidity. She wasn't really thinking about what she was doing, she was just moving based on her instincts. It was amazing how it felt so... natural, almost as if she had been wielding a sword her entire life. The wrath she had felt earlier slowly faded away. It was almost therapeutic, even with the burning pain in her hands.
Perhaps because she was feeling more relaxed, she let her guard down too much, didn't dodge in time and ended up being grazed by the tip of the spear on her left cheek.
Her reaction was automatic. The lion girl saw an opening and put more strength and speed into an attack that the angel wasn't fast enough to dodge. The result was a severed right arm spraying golden blood everywhere.
"Hyahhh!" The lion girl did not stop and quickly advanced for a horizontal attack on the abdomen line and cut the celestial soldier in half.
"HARPY! No!" One of the Exorcists screamed, the others were paralyzed seeing the sliced corpse of their companion.
The squad leader with the cracked mask stared at that girl, that demon. Her blue and white dress was now torn and stained with angelic blood, her sister's blood. One of her sisters in arms, an angel, had just died at the hands of a demon. This should have been impossible, but it happened.
The demon showed a neutral expression. Her red eyes shone with a certain coldness, as if she were judging them. This realization only served to infuriate the Exorcist.
It wouldn't stay like this.
"For our sister! Kill this demon!" The three remaining soldiers went on the attack.
The demon blocked the leader's spear with her sword and diverted the direction of the attack to the left, approaching and counterattacking with a right elbow to the face that threw her back, destroying half of her mask.
The second Exorcist's sword attack was deflected to the right creating an opening, the demon wasted no time and delivered a diagonal blow that cut the soldier from hip to shoulder. But the demon did not stop her advance and attacked with a horizontal cut across the neck of the third Exorcist, who tried to block, but was surprised by her supernatural strength that broke the spear's handle.
The Exorcist leader stood paralyzed watching her sister's head fall to the ground. The LED mask displayed a drooping expression with red lines drawn instead of the standard white.
The demon swung her sword to wipe away the excess blood on the blade.
The celestial soldier was still a little dizzy from the elbow, so it was difficult to stand up, needing to use the spear for support.
Their eyes meet. Red and gold.
The demon took a step towards her, making the angel instinctively retreat a little.
Her hands were shaking. Her breathing seemed to be strangled. Her heart was beating like a drum. She was definitely scared. For the first time, the angel feared for her life.
"W-w-what are y-you?"
The demon doesn't respond and continues walking slowly towards her, making her retreat again. Her red eyes, yellowish irises and slit pupils seemed to penetrate her soul. They reminded a lion analyzing its prey.
The Exorcist flaps her wings and flies. She needs to escape, as much as it hurts her pride as a celestial soldier, she has to admit that the battle was lost.
"AAAHHH!!!" She screams in pain as she feels her right wing being struck. "Urgh!" The Exorcist falls to the ground. There was a sword piercing her wing, making it impossible for her to fly. She notices a shadow approaching behind her, speaking in a tone of voice so cold that it would make even a Seraphim freeze.
"No escape."
The Exorcist didn't realize that her eyes were watering. Her body also didn't respond to commands, she remained paralyzed waiting for the coup de grace.
It's the end of the line for her.
"AAARGH!" The demon's pain scream made the angel wake up immediately and she didn't hide her surprise at what she saw.
The lion demon was writhing in pain from a stab in the back, more specifically in the lower left part of the abdomen, inflicted by her fellow Exorcist who had initially been knocked out with a punch.
The lion demon was writhing in pain from a stab in the back, more specifically in the lower left part of the abdomen, inflicted by her fellow Exorcist who had initially been knocked out with a punch.
"Quick! Finish this!" Her colleague shouted in apprehension.
This is her chance.
The Exorcist leader pulls the sword from her wing and stands up to put an end to this nightmare. She grabbed her spear and was about to plunge it into the demon's chest when her attention was drawn by a hissing noise.
It was a bomb with a skull design. The fuse was too short to be put out.
BOOM
The purple cloud of glitter covered the entire place.
"Cough, cough..." The explosion couldn't kill the angels, but the mist could still make them cough.
The Exorcist who stabbed the demon suddenly felt her face being grabbed, and then her body was abruptly thrown towards her colleague.
A gust of wind abruptly clears the fog, revealing the demon enveloped in a dark aura, and she seemed more enraged than before. Her blond hair fluttered in the wind. Her horns seemed to have grown a little. Her pale hands became black and scaly with phosphorescent red marks. Her brown boots had torn feet, exposing sharp black claws. The unruly strand of her hair and the tuft of fur on tail turned into a flame with red, black and purple coloring. Her eyes were completely red, without irises, and a second pair had appeared on cheeks.
The two Exorcists freeze.
That's not a demon, nor a lion.
It's a dragon.
Throughout her stay in Hell, Cherri Bomb had already gotten used to weirdness, but this? Fuck...
After the first punch, the Sinner didn't know what to do. While the lion girl kept the Exorcists busy, she took the opportunity to hide behind the pile of trash with the fox and watched the show from the front row.
She had to admit, that was fucking awesome.
For a moment she thought she wouldn't need to intervene, until she saw the lion girl get caught in a surprise attack. Since Cherri could only use one arm, it was a challenge to prepare the last bomb, but she managed and used it to distract the remaining angels, allowing the blonde to finish with what could only be described as a massacre.
In all these years, Cherri Bomb never thought she would live to see pure terror on an angel's face. If someone had told her yesterday that she would see an angel cry on Extermination Day, the bomber would have laughed at the joke and replied that it would be easier for Hell to freeze over.
As long as she lived her afterlife, she would certainly not forget.
However, the cost of the battle was high and the girl was too exhausted to stand. Cherri had to drag her to the hiding place and make a makeshift bandage to cover the wound in the back of her abdomen. All this with her left arm useless.
Which leads her to her current situation, hidden amidst a pile of trash and cardboard, in an alley with battle scars and stained with the golden blood of five mutilated angel corpses. The lion girl was sleeping soundly with her head resting on his right shoulder.
"Foou..." And the fox.
Sigh.
She was exhausted. That day was crazy.
"What the fuck have I gotten myself into?" Said the cyclops looking at the sleeping blonde and the fox nestled in her lap.
Her thoughts were interrupted by the ringing of a bell, followed by a KABOOM of fireworks.
She survived another year.
Notes:
Thank you very much for your support.
To everyone who asked me if I wanted to hire someone to do art for the story or comics (in this case, the accounts of real humans, not robot accounts), but I'm going to decline. Nothing personal, I just don't have the money for it either.
Chapter 3: Chapter 3: A (crazy) new beginning in Hell
Summary:
Who would have thought that someone like the King of Knights would get along with a Party Bomber and a Porn Star? Fate is bizarre.
Notes:
This chapter only tested me in my biggest weakness, creating good dialogues. Maybe it wasn't the eighth wonder of the world, but I tried hard to get a satisfactory result.
P.s: Maybe some might think that Artoria is too expressive in this chapter, and she is, but I believe that concessions can be made given her amnesia and the fact that she is not wearing the King of Knights mask.
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
White, as far as her eyes could see.
No direction. No aim. Her feet just moved automatically.
She doesn't know how long she was wandering through the void, she just kept walking until she saw something in the distance.
A sword stuck in a stone.
She doesn't know why her feet are carrying her to the sword, but there is something hypnotic about it, as if it were a very important piece of a huge puzzle. The sword was really very beautiful, the grip and guard were predominantly blue and gold, its silver blade reflected the light of the environment, on the fuller there was a type of runic scriptures.
For some reason, she felt a great need to take that sword. No, it wasn't just a need, it was a duty.
A sacred duty.
"Well, well, it looks like you've had quite an adventure." The mysterious voice makes her stop, practically snapping out of her hypnotic trance. Her hand was almost touching the handle. "Honestly, you never cease to amaze."
Suddenly, she found herself in the middle of a whirlwind of flower petals that made her cover her eyes out of reflex. When she opened them again, the scenery was completely different. The sword disappeared and now she found herself in the middle of a huge flower garden that stretched as far as the horizon could reach. It looked like a utopian paradise. It was so beautiful.
"How interesting." The mysterious voice came from behind. "Fate works in a very... peculiar way." More specifically, from a hooded man. "Don't you agree?"
The man was tall and wore fine fabrics. Loose black pants with gold details, white mantle and hood with lilac ruffles held together by red, blue and yellow ribbons. He also had white hair that could not be contained by the hood because it was so long that it reached his ankles. In his hand was a twisted wooden staff decorated with three ribbons, one purple, one blue and one yellow.
For some reason, she felt something familiar.
"Do I... know you?" That figure caused her a mix of complex feelings that she couldn't describe. Even though she felt that he had no hostile intentions, she didn't allow herself to let her guard down.
"Hmm!?" The figure looked somewhat confused, then began to laugh. "Hahahaha, and I always thought you had no sense of humor." She definitely didn't find it funny. Apparently he read her expression, because he stopped laughing and just stared at her as if she had two heads. It was quite uncomfortable. "Well, well. This is not good, not good at all." The man held his chin and began to walk thoughtfully.
This was getting annoying.
"Listen, are you going to give answers or are you just going to talk to yourself?"
"Whoa, whoa, I don't remember you being so impatient."
"You're the one who brought me here in the first place, wherever this is, and you didn't even say your name." She didn't mean to be rude, but why did this man's presence make her so angry?
"Weeeell..." The man rubbed his chin again in thought.
"Weeeell...?"
"I'm sure you'll remember in due time." Despite the hood, it was possible to identify the mocking smile. The girl could feel her hand shaking with anxiety to smash this guy's face. "I'd love to talk more, but we're running out of time."
"Wait!" Suddenly, she felt dizzy and her vision was getting clearer.
"Don't worry, I'm sure we'll meet again later. For now, have fun." He waved goodbye.
It was the last thing she could see before her vision went completely white.
The lion girl wakes up with a start and breathing quickly. It was just a dream. Just a dream, but... it felt so... real. Who was that man?
"And that sword..."
"Fou?" She was pulled out of her reverie by a familiar sound. "Fooou." It was the cute little fox. The little creature lying next to her in bed had also been woken up by her sudden awakening.
"Oh... hello to you too, little guy." The fox approaches and climbs onto her lap. He's so cute that the blonde can't resist petting his fur.
Then the girl realized that she was no longer lying in a pile of trash in a dirty alley, but covered by a sheet on a soft bed. The mattress had some tears exposing the foam, but it was still usable. Definitely more comfortable than the concrete floor.
"What is this place?"
"Fou, foou." The white fox got off her lap and landed on the ground.
The room was quite... colorful, to put it mildly. It was small, but comfortable. There were colorful posters saying KISS, Queen and Sex Pistols. Judging by the designs, she assumed they were of musical groups, although she didn't recognize any of them. The walls were also painted with colorful graffiti that seemed to glow a little in the dark, especially in the colors pink, purple, and green.
She could deduce that the owner of the room was not very organized or, at the very least, did not care about organization. That bothered her enough to make her want to get up just to tidy up the clothes scattered on the floor. However, this desire was dispelled by the smell that invaded the lion girl's nostrils.
GROOOW...
Hunger strikes hard. That exquisite smell captures her in a hypnotic way, making her get up and walk to the door. Her mouth was already salivating. There were some muffled voices on the other side, but the hunger combined with the smell of food deteriorated her ability to reason, making her ignore that detail and turn the doorknob.
Her eyes wandered around the place, quickly analyzing the new environment. The walls had some cracks, in the living room there was a worn-out sofa, a bookshelf with a flat-screen TV and a fluffy rug in the middle. The place was small, so much so that the only thing separating the living room from the kitchen was a simple counter with three high wooden stools. However, the elements that stood out most were the occupants.
"... Then they told me he crashed his car and was run over by a truck."
"Ahahaha, holy shit. How did that motherfucker become a manager?"
"Maybe managing a dick, hahahaha."
Of all the scenarios that the lion girl imagined, this is certainly one of the most unlikely. A cyclops girl and an anthropomorphic spider chatting animatedly, until they notice her presence.
"Hey there, sleeping beauty." The cyclops girl greeted her sitting in the middle seat. Slender, thin, but athletic body, pale skin sporting some freckles and pink tattoos, a wild pinkish hair with some blond streaks. Her only eye has a coral-colored sclera with a light yellow X-shaped iris. As for clothes, she wore a simple black tank top with a few rips and a white skull design, and simple pink shorts that left a good part of her legs exposed.
The four-armed spider was behind the counter where that delicious smell was coming from. She was tall and slender, covered in white fur with some pink lines that formed heart shapes, being quite abundant on her head and especially on her chest, a factor that bothered the lion girl. Her eyes were heterochromatic, both irises were pink in color with the difference being the sclera, the right one was light yellow and the left one was black. On each cheek, there were three pink dots. She wore a light pink cropped sweater, hot pink leggings, a pair of black socks that covered half of her thighs and a brown apron.
For some reason, the lion girl felt a sense of deja vu at this sight.
"Oh... Hello." She replied shyly and somewhat cautiously, the memories of her most recent "welcoming" experiences still fresh in her mind.
"Heya, baby!" Wait, is that a man? "So you're the crazy bitch who saved that other crazy bitch, huh?" He nodded to point at the cyclops. She definitely finds this excess of swearing unnecessary.
"I... saved?" The blonde asks, slightly confused. She shivered a little at the swear word.
"Yeah, I told him about what happened on Extermination Day."
"Extermination... Day?" She really doesn't like the meaning of that term. So her mind decides it's a great time to play a trick on her and remember the bell ringing, the portal opening in the sky and the winged figures coming out of it in droves.
GROOWW...
The roar caught everyone's attention in the room. The lion girl automatically covers her belly with her arms. Her face was burning with embarrassment and at that moment she just wanted to lock herself in her room or bury her head in a hole. But what was her fault? It had been a long time since she had eaten anything and with that smell whetting her appetite even more, she couldn't help but feel embarrassed.
"PffffzzzHAHAHAHAHAHA!" The arachnid man laughed out loud, while the cyclops girl limited herself to a chuckle. "Oh, fuck! Looks like we have someone precocious here." Said the anthropomorphic spider, recovering from the fit of laughter.
"Anyway, we'll talk while we eat. C'mon, I'm hungry too."
"Yeah, yeah. Lunch time, babies." The spider announced excitedly, setting up four plates and three sets of silverware on the counter.
Lunch? "I slept for that long?" She asked in surprise.
"Nyah, just for a couple of days. No big deal." The cyclops replied.
No big deal!?
"That's right, I've been in an alcoholic coma for over a week." He says this with a naturalness that leaves her perplexed.
"Come, sit here." The cyclops said, pointing to the bench at the end of the counter.
"Fou." The white fox went first, jumping on the chair to climb onto the counter. The lion girl follows him, still hesitant, and sits in the indicated place.
It doesn't take long for the humanoid spider to appear, using its four arms to carry the pots and pans to the counter. He takes off the lids and the blonde gets dizzy just being able to feel the hypnotic aroma of the meal up close.
GROOWW...
Her stomach was also growling with anxiety.
"Ladies, I present to you the classics: Steak parmigiana and ravioli in pomodoro sauce." He didn't even try to hide his pride in his work. The spider distributes the portions on the plates. "Oh, we can't forget the grated cheese." He sprinkles a white powder over the meals. "Buon appetito."
Without further ado, the girl picks up the fork, takes a portion of the ravioli and brings it to her mouth. Immediately she feels an explosion of flavor that makes her moan softly.
This was sublime!
She needed more.
The girl ate until she realized that her plate was already empty and that the cyclops and the spider were looking at her in surprise, both of them had barely finished half of their meals. Then the spider showed a wicked smile.
"Nhyoon... even her tail is wagging." The supposedly male spider's comment made the lion girl quickly hold her tail tightly in an attempt to control it.
"T-thank you for the meal." God, how embarrassed she felt right now.
"Umu, there's more left in the pots if you want, baby." The spider said before putting a fork with a piece of steak in her mouth, and also letting out a groan.
The lion girl's face lit up when she received permission and was soon enjoying her second helping.
"What's with that flower aura, huh?" The cyclops' comment only served to make her blush even more.
"Maybe an orgasm?" Suddenly, the floor became much more interesting. The spider's question made the duo burst out laughing at her expense. After that, she really wanted to disappear.
"Whatever, nice to meet you, Cherri Bomb. You can call me Cherri." The cyclops said, recovering from her fit of laughter. "And this bitch here is Angel." She points to the anthropomorphic spider.
"The Hottest and Most Talented Bitch in Hell, thank you very much. Angel Dust at your service, baby." The male spider said, puffing out his chest with pride. "But be warned, if you want my 'private services' I charge more for women." He gestured with his hand, placing his thumb between his first two fingers.
"I see..." The lion girl just tried to smile. She didn't understand the meaning of this gesture, but she found this guy strange. "It's a pleasure to meet you." In fact, they were both strange, but they seemed to be kind, quite different from the other monsters she had encountered before. "I also thank you for taking me in and-" She stopped, and with wide eyes she ended up noticing an important detail. "What did you just say, Mister Dust?"
"Kitty, first of all, don't call me 'Sir', it makes me feel like I've aged 80 years. Second, I said I charge upfront and more for-"
"No, no, no, sorry to interrupt, but I want to say before that."
"Oh... that I'm also known only as The Hottest and Most Talented Bitch in Hell?"
"..." The lion girl didn't care about the spider's proud and mocking posture, her mind was occupied with a single word. "... Hell..." She might not have any memories of her past, but that word made her feel uneasy.
"Yeah, Hell. Like, the place where every motherfucker goes when they die, you know?" Angel said as if it were the most obvious thing in the world, although not realizing the effect those words had on the lion girl.
Yes, she knew the concept of Hell. The place where wicked souls fall after they die to pay for their sins.
And she is among them.
Suddenly, the lion girl remembers being possessed by a growing and increasingly uncontrollable rage. Her mind is flooded with flashes of memories of her fight against the winged beings. The burning blade in her hands slicing through them and the golden blood splattering everywhere.
She dropped the fork.
The food didn't look so appetizing anymore.
She knew she couldn't put it off any longer. Swallowing hard, she gathers the courage to ask the question that needed to be asked.
"...Those people I...were they really angels?" She choked mid-sentence, but the message was clear.
"Yup." Says the cyclops girl before putting a fork with a considerable piece of steak in her mouth.
"I still find it hard to believe. No offense, but you're too short and skinny to look like an 'Angel Killer'." Well, at least she can respect his sincerity.
"Yeah. Like, fuck! If someone told me that I'd be like 'ARE FUCKING YOU DRUNK?', I mean, everyone knows those winged assholes are invincible." The cyclops takes a break to eat some more. "At least that's what I thought until I saw with my one eye you slicing those assholes like butter. It was so fucking cool!" She puts another piece of steak in her mouth. "Uuunnmm, holy shit! I definitely don't regret calling you here, Angie."
"I know."
The lion girl didn't pay much attention to what was said after the 'yup'. She killed angels. She killed without mercy or hesitation. Her memories of after she had been stabbed were still hazy, but she could still picture the look of pure terror they had given her before everything was covered in a red mist.
"Fou, foou." She was pulled out of her reverie by a familiar sound. "Foou..." It was the cute little fox enjoying the food on his plate.
"Then you passed out and you were hurt like hell. If it weren't for your pet, it would be a pain in my ass to carry you to my apartment." The punk cyclops pulled the left strap of her tank top aside to show the scar on her shoulder. "At least I'll still be able to use this arm normally."
Technically it wasn't her pet, since she only knew the fox for a day. But the lion girl didn't care enough to correct it, her mind was still processing the cyclops' words. She instinctively brought her hand to the stab wound. Luckily it didn't hurt, but it must have left a scar as well, just like on her left shoulder.
"Anyway, you still haven't said your name, blondie." The cyclops girl concluded, going back to eating.
"Oh..." She was right. "Of course, my name. My name is..." The cyclops and the spider who were still eating looked at her with some curiosity. "... My name is..." She started to panic. "I... I don't remember."
...
"Huh?" The duo immediately stopped eating. Their faces showed the same expression, complete strangeness.
"So... you don't remember anything? Like, nothing at all?" Cherri asks feeling a little sorry for the lion girl.
"No. I don't remember anything." She confirms sadly. "I only remember waking up after accidentally falling on top of someone's car who tried to shoot me, and then he got run over. Then I accidentally ended up getting involved in another fight, a building exploded and I managed to escape. I wandered around the city until I stopped in a random alley to rest, then the bell rang, the portal opened, I met Cherri and had to fight those angels, and everything went hazy. And I... I don't know what came over me, I was just angry and I... I..." The lion girl was already in tears. "For God's sake, what have I done?" She was struggling to hold back her tears. It was one thing to cry alone in an alley, but it was another thing to cry in front of others. It made her feel weak, and she definitely hated it.
Meanwhile, the cyclops and the spider looked at each other, not knowing what to do. They both knew they had no talent for helping others, especially when it came to someone they had just met. Using all the experience she had gained comforting Angel, Cherri took a deep breath and decided to take the initiative.
"Look, I know things are really fucked up, in a bad way, for you. But hey, relax, cases of amnesia like yours aren't that rare." The cyclops said, putting her hand on the girl's shoulder.
"That's right." Angel is usually mocking and doesn't miss the opportunity to make jokes about anything at the most inappropriate moments. But he knew it was definitely not the right time, so he decided to follow his friend's example. "I've seen several cases of people who came here with amnesia, but they soon recovered. I've heard that it usually comes with terrible experiences and such, I'm not a psychologist to know much about it." He says this part a little hurriedly. "But what I mean is, it's only a matter of time before you remember too." He concludes, trying to sound optimistic.
Bad experiences? So something so terrible happened in her past that she doesn't want to remember it? Once again the image of the fight with the angels comes to her mind. Was she really such a terrible monster? Was that a reflection of who she was in life?
"But anyway." This time Cherri's voice pulls her out of her reverie. "That's it. Let's not think too much about the past, okay? I know! How about you choose another name?"
"What?"
"Yeah, pick another name, like me and Angel." The cyclops pulls her arachnid friend into a hug. "Or did you think those were our names when we were alive?" She concludes and goes back to eating her almost finished lunch.
"Well, I suppose it's not a bad idea." She pondered, indeed she would need a name. "But do you still remember your true names?"
"Wow, wow, wow, hold your horses there, kitty. First, this is a very personal question. Second, the past is past, okay?" said the spider, returning to eat his almost finished lunch.
The past is past...
"Fine, let me think." What name could she use? Elise? No. Kari? Neither. Kate? Definitely not. Michelle? Absolutely not. Damn it! The lion girl soon realized that she wasn't very creative, as thinking of a new name was proving to be a challenge. At this moment, she would love to have the opinion of someone like Rin or Shirou...
Wait, where did these names come from? Why did she think of this Shirou again? And who is this Rin?
She rubs her forehead with her fingers. Her head hurts again.
The sky was bathed in twilight. She finds herself standing in front of a church gate. Her vision was too blurry to make out much, but she could see a young man in front of her, a young man with red hair.
He reached out and smiled at her. His smile was so warm and kind, but for some reason, she felt a tightness in her chest.
"I hope I can count on you from now on, ..."
"... Saber." She whispers the name softly. "I'll use the name Saber, at least until I remember my real name." This time she speaks with her head held high, loud and clear.
Who was that red-haired boy?
CLAP
"Okay then, Saber." Said the cyclops girl, clapping her hands with an excited smile showing her sharp teeth. She had already finished her lunch. "And-"
"Fou, foou!" The little fox caught everyone's attention. He had also finished eating.
"Furball? You don't remember his name either, do you?"
"No, I actually met him shortly after I landed here. Although I feel like I've met him before." She couldn't say for sure, but the fox gave her a sense of familiarity. She supposed it might have belonged to her in life, or to someone close to her.
"Oh, I know, how about Fluffy?" Angel seemed very excited to be able to choose the fox's name.
"Fou-kyuu!" The little fox stirred.
"Hey!" The androgynous spider reacted with surprise and indignation at the answer.
"I guess he didn't like it."
"Hehehe, he even told you to fuck off." Cherri let out a light laugh. This little fox has a strong personality. Angel just rolled his eyes in response.
"I give you food and this is how you thank me, you little fucking shit?" Angel snorted angrily.
"Fou-kyuu."
"Grrr, keep it up and you'll be a carpet."
"Angel, please." Saber speaks with a firmer tone of voice.
"Hmm, okay. Let's try again, Snow White?" The fox shook his head negatively. "Big Ears?" The fox growled. "Cute Pie?" The fox looked at the spider with a 'are you serious?' face. Angel was getting impatient. "I give up. Any ideas?" He went back to finishing his lunch.
"Fou, fou." The fox spoke in a seemingly mocking tone that made Angel roll his eyes again.
"Hmm... I don't know, Cloudy?" Cherri tried.
"Foou." The fox didn't like that one either. Cherri and Angel were running out of ideas, and Saber didn't trust her creativity to come up with names. "Foou, foou." The fox scratched behind his ear. Saber had to restrain herself from squeezing him, contenting herself with just stroking the fur on his head.
"Hum... well... how about just Fou? I mean, he keeps saying 'fou' all the time." She suggests, somewhat reluctantly.
"Fou, fouou..." The fox purred, enjoying the head massage quite a bit.
"It seems he liked it."
"Tsk, boring." Angel whispered, but it was loud enough for Fou to hear and respond with a 'fou-kyuu'.
"Then it's decided." Cherri gets up from the chair. "Alright, bitches. Get ready because we're going out. And Saber, you're going to need a long shower."
Angel regains his spirits and gets up from his chair to collect the dishes.
Saber hates to admit it, but she finds herself forced to agree. She is still wearing her torn blue and white dress, stained with red and gold blood. Of her boots, all that remained was the leather covering her shins, leaving her feet, or rather, lion's paws, exposed. She can ask questions about that later, for now, what matters now is finishing her second helping of lunch and she does so quickly.
"Where are we going?"
Cherri just smiles showing off her sharp set of teeth.
"Starting the afternoon feelin' like Freddie" Is she singing?
"That's it, girl." Angel joins in the rhythm.
"Put my clothes, I'm out the door." The cyclops looks for something in the wardrobe. "I'm gonna hit this city."
"Why are you guys singing? And where is this music coming from?" What the hell is going on?
"Just go with the flow." Angel says, making Saber and Fou look at each other and wonder if they've gone crazy.
"Before I leave, brush my teeth with a bottle of Jack" Cherri reappears wearing different clothes and holding a second set.
"Cause when we leave for the night, we're not coming back." They both sing in perfect synchrony as they head out onto the street and drag Saber along.
Angel Dust opted for a white coat with pink stripes and a bow tie, black mesh shorts, a pair of black leather boots that covered his mid-thigh, and two pairs of hot pink gloves.
Cherri Bomb preferred her chaotic style, black leggings with ripped knees, a one-strap bra covered by a pinkish-red top with some rips, a mini skirt with a similar design to the top. A pair of different types of shoes also pinkish-red, the right one a ballet flat and the left one a boot. And two different types of fingerless gloves in coral color, the one on the left hand being an elbow-length glove with black details.
Saber had her hair tied back in a ponytail and was wearing a set of clothes borrowed from Cherri. Slightly ripped denim shorts that showed more of her legs than she would have liked, a black tank top with KISS printed on it, a black coat with red details, and black combat boots. It was a little loose, especially in the chest area, but it was comfortable and allowed good mobility.
"I'm talkin' pedicure on our toes, toes"
The trio's first stop was at a spa. The attendant imps gave each person a treatment. Angel was getting her makeup done, Cherri was getting a haircut, Saber was getting a treatment with her lion claws, and Fou was in a tub full of foam, probably wondering what he had done to deserve this punishment.
"Tryin' on all our clothes, clothes"
At a clothing store, Cherri and Angel pick out new clothes for Saber. The blonde felt like a doll with the amount of clothes the duo asked her to try on. A cute school uniform with a mini skirt that was too short for her taste. A cute gothic style fall outfit with a fuzzy hoodie. A scandalous maid outfit that she definitely won't wear. Not even Fou escaped these two crazy people.
"Boys blowin' up our phones, phones"
Leaving the store, they are approached by four animalistic monsters in a red car with no roof.
"Drop-toppin', playin' our favorite CDs"
They invite the trio to come and get in the car. Saber is visibly uncomfortable, Cherri rolls her eyes and Angel flirts back.
"Pullin' up to the parties"
One of them is bold enough to approach Saber, leaving Fou quite irritated. Just from the smell, she could deduce that he wasn't in the habit of bathing often.
"Tryna get a little bit tipsy..."
The lion girl tries to pull away, but the furry hand of one of the monsters grabs her arm. A glint of fury appears in the eyes of the white fox who jumps and hits the guy in the face with a kick hard enough to make him retreat, leaving a paw print on his face.
The pesky monsters are quite angry and grab their weapons. Saber is startled, but Cherri and Angel just smile and also grab their weapons and bombs from somewhere.
BOOM
"Don't stop, make it pop. DJ, blow my speakers up"
By some mystical force, the city's inhabitants also join in the rhythm of the music. Most were still recovering from Extermination Day.
"Tonight I'ma fight till we see the sunlight"
On one side was a well-dressed woman exchanging a facade.
"Tik tok on the clock, but the party don't stop, no"
On the other side, two girls collect weapons from corpses, only for cannibalistic monsters to appear and devour the remains.
"Oh-woah-woah-oh"
On one side of the road, the Helluva Post van doing its daily deliveries ends up running over a drunk monster who was passing in front.
"Oh-woah-woah-oh"
On the other side of the road, a gang of mafia sharks passes by in a car carrying bags of money while exchanging gunfire with the police car. It's surprising there are still police in Hell.
"Ain't got a care in the world, but got plenty of beer"
Saber definitely doesn't want to know what was in those explosives Cherri had, but it served them well in getting them out of that trouble. Now she finds herself being dragged to a pub.
"Ain't got no money in my pocket, but I'm already here"
The flashing lights were uncomfortable for Saber. Not to mention the music blasting in her ears. She doesn't even want to comment on the strong smell of sweat, alcohol, smoke and some other suspicious substances that she couldn't name.
"And now the dudes are linin' up 'cause they hear we got swagger"
Cherri wastes no time and goes to the dance floor.
"But we kick 'em to the curb unless they look like Mick Jagger"
Angel puts on his show at the pole dance, attracting the attention of the crowd who look at him as if he were prey, and for some reason throwing money notes.
"I'm talkin' 'bout everybody gettin' crunk, crunk"
Saber and Fou sit at the bar table watching the duo having fun. She definitely felt out of place, at least she had Fou to keep her company. It was clear that the little fox was also bothered by the loud noise.
"Boys try to touch my junk, junk"
Suddenly, a monster with octopus features appears next to her and points to a "Sex Room". Saber quickly understands the message and is deeply disgusted. She immediately refuses and tries to move away, but the monster grabs her arm with one of its tentacles, making her freeze for a moment, until she feels a tentacle brushing against her thigh and almost touching her butt. Something clicked in her brain. Disgusting, disgusting, absolutely disgusting.
"Gonna smack him if he gettin' too drunk, drunk"
The pub's window is destroyed by an octopus thrown with such force that it stops in the middle of the street, and is consequently run over by the chaotic traffic.
"Now, now we go until they kick us out, out"
Bar fights are quite common, but even so, the owner of the establishment was quite angry about the damage to the property.
"Or the police shut us down, down. Police shut us down, down. Po-po shut us down"
Realizing that the fun is over, Cherri and Angel drag a Saber still in a catatonic state and with her partial demonic form active out of the pub.
"Don't stop, make it pop. DJ, blow my speakers up"
For dinner, they chose a Mexican restaurant, Taco Hell. And now the group is choosing one of the dozens of options on the menu. At least Saber is more comfortable. It was definitely better than the pub.
"Tonight I'ma fight till we see the sunlight"
One of the attendant imps suggests the burrito challenge. The goal was to eat a 6-pound burrito in 30 minutes. Challenge and food, two such simple words, but they certainly had some effect on Saber, because the lion girl didn't think twice about accepting.
"Tik tok on the clock"
The burrito arrives, so large it had to be served on a tray. The cheese and sauce topping just made it look more succulent. She starts eating it greedily, but somehow maintaining the elegance of a British aristocrat.
"But the party don't stop, no"
Saber finished in the incredible record time of 5 minutes. Only then did she realize that she had attracted the attention of curious onlookers. For a moment she was embarrassed, until she heard a chorus of applause and whistles started by Cherri and Angel that quickly spread throughout the audience.
"Oh-woah-woah-oh"
The prize was a sombrero hat that was too big for her head and a doll of the restaurant's mascot, a stuffed monkey with a sombrero and mariachis. Saber thought the sombrero was over the top, but the stuffed monkey was cute.
"Oh-woah-woah-oh"
Suddenly, she was surprised by Cherri pulling her into a hug and taking a picture of the three- "Fou." four of them with her cell phone.
"Don't stop, make it pop. DJ, blow my speakers up"
Last stop, now that it's late at night, another clothing store, and once again, Saber served as a doll to test clothes.
"Tonight I'ma fight till we see the sunlight"
However, when it came time to pay, Cherri's card was declined.
"Tik tok on the clock, but the party don't stop, no"
The result was an explosion of glitter that destroys the store from the inside. From the fog, the trio runs out in a hurry carrying many bags.
"Oh-woah-woah-oh"
"Is this normal here in Hell?" Saber asks using her super strength to carry most of the bags and Fou who was holding on tightly to her shoulder.
"So-so." Angel answers using a machine gun he took from somewhere to shoot the monsters that followed them.
"This is just our way of solving problems when we're broke." Cherri adds also carrying some bags.
"Oh-woah-woah-oh"
Now the burning question: Where the hell did this song come from?
It was late at night when the trio arrived at the apartment full of bags. After some conversation about the intensity of the day, Angel says he needs to leave. Cherri asked him to stay the night, but he refused and said he had business tomorrow, which made the cyclops mutter a "fucking moth". Saber asked for more information out of curiosity, but Angel interrupted the cyclops before she could say anything, "just a job, no big deal" was what he said before saying goodbye and leaving.
After the cyclops finished her bath, Saber went to take her own. It was relaxing and helped to wash away the dust and glitter residue, and it also gave her some privacy to think more clearly and take things in.
It was a very busy day, but if you asked her she would honestly say it was a lot of fun. Cherri Bomb and Angel Dust are crazy, and they definitely wouldn't be her first choice of company, but she's not in a position to demand much, and besides, they made the beginning of her afterlife in Hell more bearable. Only God knows what might have happened if she hadn't been lucky enough to meet them.
After finishing her shower and leaving the bathroom already wearing her new pajamas, which consisted of a light blue nightgown and shorts, Saber noticed the cyclops arranging a blanket and a pillow on the sofa.
"Yo, Saber. I was just getting you a place to sleep."
"Oh, well... Thank you, Miss Bomb." She scratches her cheek with a finger shyly. "I still don't think I thanked you and Angel enough."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever. And I told you, just call me Cherri, no need for all this formality. Besides, I'm just returning the favor." The lion girl was confused by the statement. "Like, damn, you risked your ass to save mine. Like, fuck, who would do that? Especially for a stranger here in Hell. It's totally fucking crazy!"
Crazy...
Saber flinches slightly at the curse word, but can't help but smile.
"But it's the cool kind of crazy." Cherri says, patting her shoulder. "Besides, it's not good to be in debt here in Hell." The cyclops walks to the bedroom door. "Good night, lion girl." She enters and closes the door.
"Good night." Saber sits down on the sofa and lets out an exhausted sigh. "Hell..." She whispers softly.
Once again Cherri's words about how she killed those angels come back to her. The memories of the fight were still hazy. Saber couldn't explain why she felt so much wrath. Was that really her? Was she used to be like this in life? A monster? Is that why she fell into Hell?
Cherri and Angel are both crazy, but maybe she's crazy too.
"Fou." The little fox also climbed onto the sofa. It seems he also noticed her uneasiness. Saber smiled and stroked his fur.
"I'm fine, Fou. Just... tired."
Yeah, she would be fine.
The lion girl lets out a long yawn. She finally lies down and covers herself with the blanket.
"Good night to you too."
"Foou..." The fox yawns too. He climbs on top of her belly, and Saber thinks it's so cute when he makes biscuits and curls up to sleep. The little paws were so soft.
Saber also closes her eyes and lets her consciousness fade away.
"The past is past." Angel's words echoed in her head.
She may have ended up in Hell because she was probably a horrible person in life, but that doesn’t have to define her present. It will be a long and difficult journey, but she will strive to be different, to redeem herself from whatever her sins may be.
She will be better.
Notes:
Did you really think there wouldn't be a musical? GET DUNKED ON!
Taking the music out of Hellaverse would be heresy.P.s: Chapters 3 and 4 of Deltarune were ABSOLUTE BIG SHOT!
I have to agree with Vivize on one thing, writing Angel Dust is hard, writing her chaotic dynamic with Cherri is an even bigger challenge. But it was a very fun exercise to imagine how someone as well-educated as Saber would interact with this crazy duo.
