It wasn't like Atsushi misunderstood what Kunikida meant with his words but you also could've put it in a different way. So, this whole thing was Kunikida's fault from the very beginning. And also three of his colleagues wanted to misunderstand either. That meant he wasn't the only one.
It all actually started a few months back, when Kunikida decided to counsel everyone in the Agency after a fight sort of thing with the Port Mafia. It wasn't that of a big deal actually but Kunikida was pissed off cause in the end of that situation, most of their supplies and stuff were ruined. It naturally pissed off the blond that he put everyone in the meeting room and started to speak...
Kunikida sighed and looked through his notebook. Everyone was quiet, including the boss Fukuzawa. No one dared to say anything cause they knew how pissed off Kunikida was right now and was trying to stay calm for the sake of Fukuzawa.
The blond detective fixed his glasses as he lifted his gaze from his notebook after a few minutes.
"First of all, there's definitely a huge amount of lost." He was breathing deeply with almost every single word as he tried to remain calm.
"And it won't be easy to figure it out. At least not soon. And I want every one of you to participate while we try and make everything get back to normal. Both financially and physically." He spoke and saw Dazai was about to say something. The detective was forced to attend this meeting. Kunikida cut him off, already knowing what he wants to say.
"Not. Anything emotionally from you, Dazai. Don't even think about it." He said firmly, making the brunette feign hurt and pout dramatically.
"You truly hurt me Kunikida-kuun." Dazai said equally dramatic as before.
Kunikida chose to ignore him and took yet another deep breath.
"Now back to what I was saying, I want all of you to work and try to make this better. And I'm sure all of you gonna do the best you can in this situation." Kunikida said, in a weirdly calm and believing manner.
Atsushi and Junichiro glanced at each other at this unexpected turn of events but everyone remaind silent as they waited for the blond to keep talking.
"But..." Everyone took a deep breath at that one word, except for Ranpo and Dazai.
Kunikida stayed silent but he was taking deep deep breaths. Well, that was before he blew up suddenly...
"I don't want any of you pairing up or seeing any of them ever again! Why're we even pairing up with them from the very beginning?! It's dangerous, stupid, reckless and could end very badly. Fuck the Port Mafia!" He shout, making everyone dumbfounded and slightly jump on their seats.
Kunikida stared between Dazai and Atsushi, making the poor young detective tense up even more.
"Especially you two. No more dangerous redheads or psycho emos. Understood?" He said firmly, looking into their eyes. Atsushi quickly nodded but Dazai puffed and rolled his eyes. The others were trying to hard not to laugh at that moment.
"Come on Kunikida. It's no big dea-" Dazai was cut off by Kunikida. The blond has no patience to put up with Dazai's bullshits right now.
"Understood?" He said more firmly than before. Dazai sighed and nodded.
"Fine fine... Understood." He muttered, slightly spinning the chair he's on.
Kunikida nodded in confirmation.
"Good." He mumbled to himself...
Well, after that day anyone should've cut their connection with the Port Mafia but that cut off happened for just three weeks. After three weeks, everyone just went back to normal. Maybe even further.
They were still seeing the mafia members. Just without Kunikida knowing.
Now after a few months since that day, everyone was in the Agency, working as usual. But Kunikida noticed Dazai and Atsushi looked really tired. He tried to ask them about it but they just awkwardly shrugged it off...
Kunikida walked to them.
"You two look horrible. Are you tired?" He said suspiciously with his arms crossed against his chest.
Dazai and Atsushi quickly straighten up and shook their heads. Atsushi was tensed up while Dazai chuckled.
"What tiredness Kunikida-kun? You should clean your glasses." The brunette teased Kunikida. But that only made Kunikida suspect even more. He could see and sense the two was hiding something.
"What happened last night?" He completely ignored Dazai's sentence and looked between the tensed up white haired boy and the brunette.
"Nothing! Nothing happened last night!" Atsushi quickly said as he earned a slight kick from under the table by Dazai.
"Oww!" Atsushi whined and looked at his mentor with a sheepish expression. "Sorry." He muttered quietly.
Kunikida looked between them after that thing happened and gave up. He really didn't wanna know.
"You know what? Don't say anything. I don't wanna know." He said and turned back to go into the kitchen.
After Kunikida was gone, Dazai patted Atsushi's shoulder.
"You're a terrible liar Atsushi-kun." Dazai said in a teasing manner. Atsushi just groaned. "I know. I'm sorry." He mumbled as Dazai chuckled. "It's alright."
Ranpo looked at the two with a small smirk. He knew exactly what was going on. But as usual, he remained silent.
At that moment, Yosano got inside and greeted everyone. Ranpo's eyes widened before he pulled Yosano beside himself.
"You too?!" He shout-whispered. Yosano frowned in confusion.
"Me too what?" She asked quietly. At that second, also Fukuzawa went beside them, greeting everyone. And Ranpo's eyes widened even more if that's possible.
"Even da-boss?!" He spoke to himself and Yosano understood what was going on.
"I don't know what you're talking about..." She mumbled, feigning innocence.
Dazai ear dropped and spoke with a smirk.
"Oh my God, Yosano-san. How could you?" Dazai teased and Yosano was pissed now.
"Oh shut up! You two were there too!" She shout as a whisper. That made Atsushi lift his head with wide eyes from hearing himself being mentioned.
"We were where what?" Atsushi asked, confused.
Dazai spoke again quickly, feigning innocence as well.
"No, I wasn't." He said with a smirk. Atsushi was still confused, looking between Yosano and Dazai.
Yosano smirked also at that and crossed her arms against her chest.
"Oh yeah? Well, Dazai-kun, Chuuya's very very loud." She said and Dazai's face dropped as he practically pouted.
Atsushi's first eyes widened slightly when he finally understood what was going on and he laughed at the fact Dazai got exposed. Ranpo shook his head at these mess of humans.
Yosano's attention went to Atsushi.
"You are very loud too. Don't laugh now." She said with the same smirk on her face.
Atsushi stopped laughing quickly and his eyes darkened as he blushed deeply from embarrassment. Was he really that loud?
Dazai chuckled at his apprentice's face and patted his shoulder. Atsushi sighed, shoulders dropped.
Ranpo shook his head. "You're all a mess." He muttered but he was amused.
"Okay, so what if we're sleeping with the Port Mafia members? It's not like anything's gonna happen." Atsushi said. A little too loud actually...
"WHAAATT?!" A shout came from the kitchen and everyone's eyes widened.
"Shit, Atsushi!" Yosano whispered.
"I'm sorry!" Atsushi said back in a whispering manner. Now they were screwed...
Now they were sitting around a desk, thinking after Kunikida just gave them a speech. Atsushi sighed while Dazai was messing with a pencil. Yosano was just sitting with her arms crossed.
"I mean, we did what we were told..." Dazai said, trying to make it better or just tease.
Atsushi nodded. "Yes, Dazai-san's right. Kunikida-san said 'fuck the Port Mafia'." He said, agreeing with the brunette. That made Yosano chuckle. Cause they actually had a point. "You two are insufferable." She muttered, amused.
After a slight pause, Yosano spoke again. This time more serious and thoughful.
"But seriously, how did we all even went to there at the same time?" Yosano said, seeming to lost in thought.
"Chuuya called me." Dazai said and Atsushi followed behind. "And Akutagawa called me." Atsushi said. That's when everyone understood what was the case.
"I'm gonna kill him/her..."
