Work Text:
Cameron’s mission is simple.
Protect the individual known as John Connor.
Only, the mission isn't as simple as it sounds. There are threats around every corner and John has been thrown into danger time and time again.
But sometimes, the biggest danger to John is John himself.
Cameron brings up the incident with the gun again. Suggests that it wasn't an accident.
“I didn't try to kill myself, okay?” John insists yet again.
He knows that she means well in her own weird way but he wants to forget that the whole thing ever happened.
Cameron just looks at him. John avoids her gaze. The mark from the gun still stains his face. He has already suffered greatly and she knows that the future will not be kind to him. She was there after all, in his darkest moments. In the future, his body is littered with scars and no matter what she does, she can't heal his body.
She can't heal his heart either.
Cameron reaches out and touches the injury on his face. John doesn't pull away. Should he? Her touch is cold. It's not surprising - she may look like a girl on the outside but inside she's composed of metal.
John needs reassurance. John needs to know that his pain is real and not brushed aside. But Cameron can't give him any of that. He looks at her like he forgets that.
“I am capable of self repair. You are not.” She just says and walks away.
