Chapter 1: A first for everything.
Chapter Text
If there was one thing that Finn knew about himself, it was that he was easily prone to falling in love with every new face he sees. He couldn't help it really, he always thought he was just a person with a lot of love to give. Besides, these silly things never lasted more than a week, a month at most.
That was until a certain boy came into his life. Sean Diaz, the most perfect person Finn had ever laid eyes on. From the very first moment he felt his heart light up once more, and the same giddy fog clouded his mind.
God he was just so perfect. Finn had been waiting for so long, ever since he met Sean at that market. He thought he would have to push past his idealisations but then the two showed up to the camp again? From then on Finn only had one thing on his mind.
The intoxicating way Sean smiled at him drove him up the walls. Each and every time Finn caught a glimpse under his shirt he couldn't help but imagine what the item of clothing would look like on the floor, beside the bare canvas. The boy was a walking magnet to Finn's attention and Finn couldn't be more happy. He loved the way that Sean captured him, enthralled him and made him feel something he hasnt ever felt before.
Sean was almost an angel in Finn's mind, his toned body and tanned skin. Sean was practically glowing despite the dirt that shaped his face perfectly. It wasn't just on his outside either, the boy was brave and such a role model to Daniel, something Finn never had. All he wanted was the pure and fragile boy to be his, at his every wish. To see past the facade and reach out to the scared boy beneath.
Finn could see the way he hesitated to enter his tent and lay down beside him. The cold bite of spring made the younger boy cautious to expose his skin to the light breeze that passed through the tent walls.
“You don't need to be shy sweetheart, I don't judge”
The two were sitting beside each other in Finn’s tent, late at night. Still, the sound of chatter around the campfire was present surely they wouldn't be able to hear them tho right? Especially after everyone got wasted for the millionth time.
Sean laughed to ease the tension, the sound as pure as gold. Finn wanted more, more time to curate sweet honey-like sounds. More time to explore and trace each edge of his body, More Sean.
“Finn, I just..” the younger one hesitated, looking away from the other. The moment was quick before Finn put a hand to cup Sean's face and brought him back to where their eyes met once again. Finn smiled, the sinister thoughts seemingly silenced by the soft structure presented to Sean. The older leaned in for a kiss, abusing the moment he had to taste and feel the soft and warm skin.
He could've kept going, could've left countless deep bruises on his neck, or explored further with his tongue, but not yet. He couldn't scare off his prey this early could he?
Finn swallowed his urges as he pulled away from his love. “That wasn’t so bad now was it?” he smiled, yet there was no response from the smaller. “Trust me Sean, this will be good for you. If you just let it be.” he whispered softly, barely audible to anyone but them.
The words sent chills down Sean's spine, this whole night had him on edge, maybe it was the alcohol, the fact Daniel is out there without him or that this is his first time getting intimate with anyone. “If I just let what?” he asked, unsure of Finn's own intentions and wishes.
The question was quickly answered as Sean felt a cold hand glide up his chest, making its way over each muscle before resting on his pec.
The younger shuddered under the touch, so reactive to Finn's every move. “Take it off” he pleaded, helping quicken the action himself. The fabric was soon removed and discarded to the side, revealing the untainted flesh, new to everything Finn had to offer.
“It’s so cold Finn” the younger shivered, the way he almost curled in on himself made Finn's mouth water, all he wanted was to take the boy right then and there, vulnerable and scared, so perfect just for him.
Finn began to shift his position, "That's okay pretty boy, you'll get warmed up quick enough” he laughed to himself quietly, “come lie down for me, get comfortable” Finn was now propping himself on his side, watching as the other followed his commands.
Sean looked up at Finn looming over him, “is this good?” He asked, fidgeting with his hands mindlessly.
Fuck it was good, it was more than good. It was everything Finn had dreamed about, those dark eyes staring up at him, unaware of what he's about to do to him. “You’re perfect Sean” Finn admitted, closing the gap once more with another kiss.
This time the feeling was more intense, Finn found his way on top of the other before his hand drifted over the bare skin once again. Once he passed the younger nipples he could feel Sean gasp against his lips. Without hesitation Finn made his way into Sean's mouth, his tongue exploring the others. It was just like he imagined it, so soft and pliable. Sean was in no position to refuse. The body beneath him was open and vulnerable, a moment later FInn felt Sean wrapping his arms around his back, pulling him closer.
Finn pulled away, hearing an audible whine from Sean at the loss of action. The sound went straight to Finn's dick. “You don't get to control me like that darlin’” Finn explained, “I’m the one that tells you what to do because you know nothing, isn't that right?” he waited, holding contact with Sean, immersed in the dark void staring back at him. He received a small nod from the other “Words, Sean. do you really know?”
“Yes Finn… y-you’re right.” Sean admitted, swallowing heavily. His eyes were wide as they looked up to Finn. “Good, but to make sure you don't try anything, maybe I should hold your hands still? Can you put them up above your head?” Sean obeyed without a word.
The longer this went on, the longer Finn had this complete and absolute control over Sean the more ideas he had. The further he wanted to push the boundaries and bring all his late-night fantasies to life.
Finn's hand pinned Sean's in place, fully showing the beauty of the younger boy, "you're so perfect Sean” he admitted under his breath. “God, I'm so obsessed with you”. Despite the darkness he swore he could see Sean smiling, a faint red blush creeping along his face.
Finn littered a trail of short kisses down Sean's face, hovering around his neck, where he could leave the marks that claimed Sean as his. The sounds that Sean made were somewhat muffled, yet still so perfect, so hopeless and perfectly pornographic. Instinctively Sean tiled his head, making more room for Finn, allowing him to continue claiming the body below him.
“Finn, oh my god.” the words came out alongside heavy breathing, distracted by the pleasure.
“Look at you, squirming under me, all flushed and pretty looking.” Finn kissed him once more, “Does it feel good sweetheart?” his hands wandering without purpose, tracing the lines of his figure
Of course it felt good, it felt like the first time Sean has been able to connect with others, be alone for once, have a real intimate moment with someone without Daniel.
Sean nodded incessantly, small murmurs of “mhm” and “please” filled the air around them. The sweet sound filling Finn's desire, fueling the fire within.
Finn's hands drifted down to the familiar fly of Sean's jeans, teasing the zipper before slowly dragging it down along with the rest of the fabric.
Finn was greeted with a rising bulge in Sean's boxers, he glanced up to see his muse with a hand over his eyes, squirming every time Finn's cold fingertips grazed his soft skin. Being able to see him from this angle was something he had only ever seen in wet dreams, here he was, about to reveal the most sensitive part of this pure, angelic boy.
His boy.
“Eyes on me Sean, I want to see your gorgeous face, especially when im so close to” his palm grazed over Sean's member, “such an important moment.” A grin spread wide across his face.
“Finn please” the younger whined, despite that that was definitely not allowed, Fin couldn't help but completely indulge himself in the younger's desperation. “Fuck Sean, you have no idea how much i love your voce. Especially when it's saying my name” he continued to pull the fabric of the boxers down, revealing the youngers cock. It was perfect, everything that Finn had imagined.
Finn ran his tongue up the underside of the length, taking it slowly. Sean's body jolted at the sensation, a small whine escaping him as the warmth of Finn's mouth engulfed him, lewd sounds filled the tent.
“So sensitive darling, first time huh?” he laughed
“Shut up…. It's just, coño”
Finn keeps his pace steady, savouring every moment. The golden boy below him was the most picturesque sight. His hair fell perfectly over his defined features, highlighting the sharp jawline that he had meticulously carved into his memory. He could never get sick of this, he could sit here for hours and admire the marble statue in front of him.
“Mierda, Mierda, Mierda, Finn” the boy below him subtly began to thrust into the other's mouth.
Finn held his hips down, placing a firm hand on his stomach. “Not yet honey, hold on a bit longer for me” he took his mouth from the member and moved his thumb to trace circles around the tip, dragging out the drips of pre-cum.
The boy under his was nothing but a squirming mess, everything Finn wanted.
“Only I can ruin you like this Sean, nobody else can make you feel this good right?” he continued, slowly pumping the boy up and down repetitively. “Only you Finn, i’m yours i swear” he stammers out, focused more on the sensations filling him so far over the edge
It was intoxicating, to hear Sean finally say the words he had been so desperately searching for these months. Finn was more desperate than a dehydrated man, he would do anything for Sean to be his, at his mercy again just like tonight. He was so perfect.
Sean groans as he releases all over the others hands, shaking uncontrollably, constantly repeating the same pleads of “yes” and curses. It took a minute before the younger was calmed once more, Finn had wiped off the mess from both of them and they were once again laying side by side as if nothing happened.
“I love you Sean, i want you like this forever” he claims, kissing Sean once more before taking the younger's hand in his.
Sean pauses for a moment, “yeah” he confesses with a shaky breath.
And it feels nice, Sean thinks. To have the stability and comfort that he lost so long ago. He belongs to someone, sure it may be a bit intense at times, but Finn is a good guy, one that will actually care for Sean, more than anyone has since he left Seattle.
The night he just had was such a rush, a blur, a moment clouded with pleads, pleasure and guilt. It felt wrong, but that's what made it so right. Sean didn't need to follow his gut every time. It was okay to stretch his comfort zone sometimes. Well that's what he told himself at least.
“Sean,” Finn starts, catching the younger from his train of thought.
“Hmm?” he replies, looking back up at the man who had taken his first time, his sacred moment.
Finn caresses Seans hand as he speaks, avoiding eye contact “ you're mine okay? I.. I don't like the idea of other people having you. It should only be me.”
The silence hangs thick, almost suffocating between the two.
“Okay?” Finn asks once more, a tighter grip on Sean's hand, now looking at him.
The tanned boy swallows thickly, nodding his head before he could even manage to get a word out. “ Of course, just yours Finn.” and before he can process what's going on, he catches a sinister look on the other's face. One that makes his spine shiver and fear run rapidly through his veins.
He's caught off once more with another kiss. Once where Finn has his head in his hands and Sean instinctively melts into the touch.
“good.”

Chapter Text
Sean woke up in a cold sweat, his breathing shallow and heartbeat audible in his ears. It wasn't the first time this had happened, in fact, ever since he got to Humboldt he'd been restless.
Maybe it had something to do with his living conditions, or that he doesn’t actually remember where he is living until after his morning panic attack. A tent, right. He knew these people, they were nice and provided him and Daniel shelter. He wasn't in danger at the moment.
No matter how many times he told himself that, his guard remained up. unshakeable, some may call him paranoid. They were right.
The cold morning seeped its way into his sleeping bag, urging him to actually get dressed for the day. He did so reluctantly, in the absence of Daniel like usual. He was probably out with the others already.
Even from inside the plastic walls San could tell it was going to be a good day, the sun always made itself known especially in the first few hours. Sean loved it, he loved the crisp cold air in his lungs and the sun beaming through the branches above him. Being amongst nature definitely calmed the raging nerves he constantly lives with. Maybe that's why the group loves it here too.
Before he could continue his thought there was a voice outside the tent.
“Rise and shine sleepyhead. It's breakfast time!” he heard Finn call out,
Finn, who had given him everything him and his brother ever needed since they got here. Finn, who made Sean feel like the weight of the world was lifted from his shoulders and he could finally rest. He made Sean feel special, cared about for the first time in a while, ever since they left Seattle. He was given a warmth that he didn't need to collect wood for, food he didn't have to steal for, a break he didn't have to plead for.
He groaned before making his way out, finally facing the day in front of him.
“Theres my ray of sunshine” Finn teased, a hand on Sean's shoulder, guiding him to the group.
The touch was different during the day, not as soft as they had been the night before, in Finn's tent all caught up in the moment. This time, his hand held more weight to it, Sean's shoulder grew heavy.
The two walked towards the kitchen, Finn's arm around Sean's shoulders keeping him closer. Their bodies collided occasionally. Sean blushed as he was reminded of the events that occurred not too long ago. His gaze lingered on the other for longer than it should've, long enough for Finn to notice at least.
“Like what you see?” the older man asked, eyebrows raised. He laughed as Sean stumbled to find answers.
Once they got to the campsite Sean was quick to make himself a cup of coffee, desperate to wake up properly. The warmth was a nice contrast to the cold morning breeze. He sat down around the fire where Cassidy, Ingrid and Hannah sat, talking away with another.
“Hey city boy” Cassidy greeted, moving over on the log she was sitting on, inviting Sean to join."Had a good sleep?” she asked.
“I definitely wouldn't describe it as good but it wasn't the worst,” he admitted, taking a long sip from his cup.
The morning went by relatively calmly, Finn stopped by temporarily and Sean caught a glance of the other staring, there was a dark look in Finn's eyes, he wasn’t happy about something. Maybe he got in a fight with Jacob? Who knows.
Sean's attention was brought back once he felt a hand rubbing his back, “you feeling alright Sean?” Cassidy asked, a prominent softness in her voice.
“Yeah..” he trailed, glancing back to see Finn had left his spot in the kitchen and was nowhere to be seen “yeah no im fine.” he clarified.
“Well did you hear what i said?” she laughed, hand still rested on his back
Sean paused for a moment, clearly all his thinking about Finn had distracted him a bit more than Sean would like to admit. “No… sorry,” he raised a hand to scratch at the back of his head.
“Well I asked if you had plans to leave any time soon.” Cassidy clarified, her eyes still fixed on the boy as she took a sip from her cup.
“Not really” Sean started, "I like it here, and I'm sure Daniel does too” He laughed.
The girl beside him hummed in approval, clearly satisfied with his answer. It was quiet around the campfire for a moment, Sean spent the time taking in the swaying trees above him. The birdsong here was much prettier than abc in Seattle, that was definitely one positive.
The peaceful sound of nature was then interrupted by the all too familiar sound of Big Joes truck.
“Shit, is it that time already?” Cass swore as she packed her things away. “We better get going”. Sean ran to his tent to put his things away before grabbing his hoodie and jogging back to the truck, unfortunately he was the last one there again.
He saw Cassidy invite him to space next to her before someone grabbed his hand, stopping him from moving. Once he turned around he was greeted with Finn's intense stare, just like back in the kitchen. The older boy moved over to give Sean room, barely saying a word until Sean was sat.
“Good.” Finn stated, leaving Sean in even more confusion than before. Sean continued to not say a word, afraid of what the anger in Finn was directed at. Surely if Sean didn't talk to him he wouldn't have to face whatever Finn was mad at. Maybe it will just blow over.
Eventually they arrived at the unfortunately familiar farm, quickly making their way outside Merrill's office for the daily orders.
“Right,” He started, “Finn, you Anders, Hannah and the other one are outside, we have a shit ton of pruning to do today so i hope your hands aren't sore.” Sean made quick notice of Finn looking even more displeased. It didn't really make sense though, Finn is always doing the physical work, why was this any different? “ the rest of you are inside. Get moving! I'm not here to waste time.” Merril commanded.
It took no time for Sean and his brother to get settled, it was quite a calm routine by now. Most commonly Daniel cass and ingrid would be with him around the table, the three of them getting into casual conversations that managed to evolve quite a distance from the original question. It was a good way to pass the time at least.
By the time he looked out the window, the familiar tones of orange and yellow were tinting the view, the time had passed so quickly and now the sun was finally setting once again.
“Good work” merril applauded, “now get out.” The crew complied without complaint. Sean was quickly reunited with Finn and the rest of the group. He stood beside the first dusted boy, the smell of pine and weed strong, but familiar after the amount of time Seans spent with Finn.
The way home was calming, Sean got to admire the way the sun shone through the trees while wind blew through his hair. When he isn't reminded of what he's running from, this life is actually really nice.
By the time Big Joe's truck stopped, Sean's body was once again reminded of the day's work he had been through, his legs felt stiff and his hands began throbbing once more. He didn't want to get up from his seat. Instead he waited a little longer before planning to leave, however Finn didn’t leave with them, but rather got up and moved to sit beside Sean.
Finn took notice of the wounds on Sean's hands, he carefully held them in his own, not letting go despite Sean's wincing at the stings.
“Cheer up, my little Sean” Finn laughed “trust me, it's not as bad as you think” he stated, which didn't really help. “Other farms in the areas just straight up exploit your ass” The older continued. Finn laughed as he traced each graze and cut Sean had collected since arriving at Humboldt, “look at these baby soft hands”
“Trimming sucks, at least i didnt cut myself too badly today” Sean whined, following as Finn rose from his seat and made his way off the truck.
“Aww, you'll get scars but you'll get used to it, part of the fun” the two hovered around while Joe's truck finally left “and… sexier” Finn whispered. The thought of Finn admiring even the more basic parts of Sean made him blush.
“Thanks, I guess” He laughed off, kicking a rock to avoid looking up at the boy in front of him.
“Y’know, I was thinking about you a lot today” Finn began. That got Sean's attention, the boy raising his head out of curiosity.
“Oh?” Sean questioned, a warm feeling buzzing around in his stomach. He was excited, nervous but excited.
“Yeah” Finn slowly closed the gap between them, “About last night, how perfect you were”
Sean swallowed audibly as a hand raised to cup his face. “How obedient you were, Fuck your so hot, got me all worked up thinking about it. I couldn't get your face out of my mind.” He admitted.
“Realy?” Sean stammered out, unsure of how to react.
“Of course” Finn confessed, "I would love to have something special with you Sean. if… that's okay with you.” he rubbed a thumb along his face, their foreheads now resting against each other. Sean remained silent, trying to process everything despite being incredibly overwhelmed.
“Please?” Finn whispered, “I can make you so happy. You won't even need anyone else.” he begged once more, finally pushing Sean over the edge. “I guess that's okay” Sean muttered out. Looking up at Finn briefly before the older leaned in for a kiss.
“you have to keep it a secret. I’ll find out if you tell anyone. Can you do that for me?” The two were still pressed against each other.
“Of course Finn.” Sean replied, it wouldn't be too difficult to hide a few night stands right?
“Not even Daniel, I mean it” Finn glared at Sean. “I promise,” the other said.
“Good” Finn kissed him once more "I guess I'll see you later then pretty boy” Finn winked as he left Sean alone and vulnerable, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
Sean watched as the other boy vanished into the trees, making his way back to the others. It took the boy a minute in isolation to finally come to his senses and make his own way back as well.
It was almost dark by the time the group had finished having dinner however the conversations were still vibrant with new jokes and complaints.
“I’m being serious!” Penny exclaimed, "I swear the birds are spies.” He took another drag of the cigarette between his fingers.
Sean and Cass shared a look across the fire confused, but not as concerned as they probably should be. “You sure are a weird one Penny” she said with laughter.
From the corner of Sean's eye he caught notice of Daniel mid-yawn, clearly more tired and Sean had thought.
“Maybe it's time to go to bed, Enano?” Sean asked, nudging the smaller boy beside him.
“What? No! I’m perfectly-” Daniel paused to yawn once more “awake.” he finished, avoiding eye contact out of embarrassment.
“Sure.” Sean laughed off. “We’ll head back soon though.” He looked at the younger as he frowned, unsurprisingly so. The night continued as the fire's light slowly burned dimmer and dimmer around them, the lack of warmth caused Sean to shiver with each breeze of wind that passed him by.
After another round of drinks, and Penny finally giving up on his theories, a few of the the group made their way back to their own tents, Sean and Daniel following not too far after.
“We should probably head off now too” Sean admitted, getting up from his place on the ground.
“Aww so soon?” Cassidy whined playfully. Smiling to herself as she went back to playing her songs.
“Yeah sorry about that, i guess we’ll see you guys later” and with that, Sean and his brother carefully navigated over tree roots and empty beer bottles until they reached their tent.
“Do you have a torch?I can’t see anything.” Daniel asked, patting the area around him.
Sean reached to the end of the tent, finding the item requested. “Here it is,” he held it out, turning the light on simultaneously.
“Thanks.” Daniel said, beginning to get himself comfortable for the night. The boy was quick to fall asleep, despite leaving the torch on. Sean turned the light off and tried to fall asleep himself, however it did not come as easy to him as it did to his brother. Nights like these were not uncommon, but when Sean found himself restless at night it wouldn't change for hours, typically the older boy would try everything he knew to calm himself down before sleep finally washed over him.
Before that time came, Sean heard an unfamiliar rustling outside.
“Psst, Sean.” the familiar voice made itself heard. Sean was hesitant to respond in fear of waking Daniel, that boy could sleep through everything if he was in danger but the moment Sean moves a muscle he would begin to stir.
“Finn?” he whispered back.
“Come outside.” The boy waited as Sean shuffled around silently. It took a short moment before the tent was unzipped and the younger emerged with a new found energy.
“Jesus, I'm freezing Finn. What was the point of this?” Sean hissed, arms wrapped around himself.
“Don’t worry about it, just come with me.” The older started to walk, eventually turning around once he realised Sean wasn’t actually following.
“Sean.” His voice was slightly louder this time, just below speaking volume. Sean decided it was best to go with so Daniel didn't wake up.
“Good. Anyway, I brought this incase" Sean takes the jacket being held out to him, putting it on immediately. “Thank you” he whispered, breathing shaky and desperate.
The two continued walking until they reached the edge of the lake, Sean had never actually seen this place at night. It was beautiful, the moonlight reflected on the water as it barely moved, the trees sheltering the pair as they sat by the edge.
“So what’do ya think?” Finn asked with a smile, carefully linking his fingers with Sean.
“It’s breathtaking.” Sean admitted, letting his hand get taken by the other.
The two sat there for a moment, admiring their surroundings. “Come closer Sean, don’t be shy.” Finn invited, Sean followed without hesitation, he rested his head on Finns because that's what boyfriends were supposed to do right? If they even were boyfriends. It was complicated.
“That's it Sean” Finn cooed, “I’m here for you” He said, the two sat in silence after that.Sean for the first time in months literally had a shoulder to lean on. He rested, closed his eyes for a moment and took in the feeling of his body against FInns.
The moment lasted for a while before Sean's thoughts began to focus on the small sounds of water hitting the leaves rather than washing up on the ground near his feet.
“Is that rain?” Sean asked, lifting his head to try and see, despite the lack of light where they were.
The two paused for a second, holding their hands out to try and get a better feel. “Shit, I guess we better go back” Finn said, quickly pulling Sean up with him.
The two almost ran back to the campsite, trying to avoid the ever-increasing amounts of rain that was falling upon them. “Come with me, no point risking waking Daniel." Finn said, not waiting for an answer before leading the other to his tent.
“But Finn-” Sean retaliated, worried for the sake of his younger brother in the morning.
Finn shushed him, “quiet Sean. It doesn't matter anyways, he’ll be fine.” The older shrugged it off, quickly making his way into the tent with Sean following quickly after.
Once the two had gotten comfortable beside each other, Finn finally spoke. “It’s better that you're here with me Sean. Don’t doubt that.” He began, “I provide you with warmth and safety, a nine year old can’t give that to you can he?”
Sean thought for a moment. Finn was right. “Yeah,” the younger agreed.
“Exactly, I'm all you need Sean, just me.” Finn placed a small kiss to Sean's lips, catching him off guard. “Goodnight sweetheart.”
“Night Finn”

Chapter 3: brothers and bruises
Summary:
“I saw what you did to him” her words were cold, demanding more than Finn was willing to give.
“And?”
“You’re going to hurt him eventually” Cassidy replied. She knew what Sean had been through, the amount of weight he was carrying. He was so young. Cass felt for him, she really did. Sean didn’t deserve this life.
“I know what I’m doing”
Chapter Text
Sean woke with the early morning sun, as the light that crept through the branches surrounding the campsite shone into Finn's tent, the boy quickly realised that this was in fact not his tent, and that he had left Daniel for the whole night, far from what he had planned. If he didn't move soon Daniel would wake up, he would be alone, without sean for the first time in months.
Sean hesitated before orchestrating an escape route. He quietly shuffled his way away from the other and propped himself up on two arms. He took another breath before making another move, Sean managed to weasel his legs out of the sleeping bag to where they were resting on top of the fabric. He glanced at the boy beside him before continuing, however due to the constant movement Finn began to stir in his sleep, unsure of whether to continue or not Sean remained still, his breaths shallow and heartbeat pounding in his ears.
As his eyes were fixed to the resting ace beside him, Sean couldn't help but be reminded of what went down the night before, the way Finn cared about him, gave him shelter without him needing to beg or bribe. Sean finally found someone who cared for him, no stings attached.
Before he knew it, Finn had woken up. The older finally opened his eyes to be met with the other far more awake than himself. “When did you get up?” he asked. Finally moving to sit up beside Sean.
Sean cleared his throat before speaking. “Not too long ago, I don't think.” he replied. “Its still early, you can go back to sleep if you want” he offered.” but finn resisted “no im fine. Why are you up anyway? Were you going somewhere without me?” he asked, his tone had already shifted despite the short conversation.
“I was… going to see Daniel. Well, before he woke up y'know” Sean replied, timid and cautious. Maybe Finn wouldn't like Sean leaving without him.
FInn scowled, visibly upset at the idea. “I don't think that's necessary. Daniel's old enough. He can be by himself a bit longer.” Finn moved a hand over to Sean's shoulder holding the boy back.
“Stay with me Sean” the words lingered between the boys for a moment, only the sounds of the leaves and early morning bird songs filled the silence.
Finn slowly snaked his hand over to the other's face, gently turning it to face him. “Please?” he smiled as he closed the gap between the two, their lips interlocking for a brief moment in time. Sean froze as the other pulled back slightly, still hovering close to his ear.
“We have time, I can make this good for you Sean.” he whispered, the crisp sound sending chills through Sean's body. Before he had time to respond, the warmth of Finn's mouth on his skin once more. Gentle kisses were plotted from under his ear and trailed down to his neck, the occasional nip at his skin coaxed small whines from the younger's mouth.
Finn pulled away briefly, quietly laughing to himself without looking at Sean. “What's the deal?” he asked in a panic.
“Nothing sweetheart,” Finn finally replied, pulling himself together momentarily "you're just so sensitive, its cute” he continued.
“Cute?” Sean repeated, seemingly to no one as Finn made his way back to Sean’s neck, leaving the question unanswered.
Sean’s head leaned back instinctively, giving Finn more room. The small nips and teasing bites quickly grew in intensity and eventually Sean was decorated in dark red and purple marks, all of Finn’s making.
“Beautiful” Finn whispered to himself, admiring his work.
Sean shifted in his seat awkwardly, finally coming to the realisation that he couldn't possibly hide all of these with his hoodie.
“Finn..” he started, catching the attention of the other. The brunette flicked his head up instantaneously, holding onto Sean’s every word.
“How am I going to hide these?” Sean didn’t even have to look to know the state of his skin.
“Hide them?” Finn repeated, laughing to himself once more, “Sean my love, why would you do such a thing? They let everyone know you’re taken.” He paused for a moment, continuing to study the boy in front of him.
“That I own you” Finn’s smile was that of a predator, sharp and dangerous. The pit in Sean’s stomach only grew exponentially with each moment.
“Right...” Sean muttered, taking in what Finn had just said. He took a moment to focus on something else, like the time. It really had gotten further into the morning, rustling and murmurs around the campsite because audible and the sunlight had greatly illuminated the tent concealing both boys.
The boys managed their way out of Finn’s tent, stumbling and scruffy. Thankfully the group were so preoccupied with breakfast that nobody seemed to notice them leaving the same tent.
Once Sean got to camp there were numerous conversations around him, instead of attempting to join, or of better wording interrupt, he went to go make himself a cup of coffee.
While waiting around the kitchen penny made his way beside Sean, the two leaning on the same bench,
“Guess you had fun last night then?” He asked, nodding to the obvious marks Sean adorned.
The younger one choked on his drink, quickly pulling his hoodie over his head in an attempt to cover the exposed skin.
Sean sighed once calmed, nodding in response to Penny's painful question.
“Yeah… umm, you could say?” He questioned awkwardly. He paused, waiting for Penny's response which only seemed to consist of a small content laugh and a pat on the back before walking off with his own full cup.
Hiding Finn’s previous actions proved to be harder than he thought. He definitely has to keep his hood up today no matter what.
Out of the corner of his eye he noticed a figure hovering by, as usual Daniel was playing his tricks. He wouldn’t get Sean this time though.
“You can’t fool me that easily enano” Sean slowly turned to face his brother who was, in fact, crouching beside a makeshift table.
The smaller figure rose from his hiding spot in defeat. “But how did you know! I was literally silent!” He exclaimed, a look of awe and shock on his face.
It was nice to see Daniel happy again, he looked relaxed and finally comfortable in the new environment. Sean, caught up in the moment, found a warm smile creeping up on him. It was nice knowing he could finally relax among the others, that him and his brother were safe for now.
“Have you had breakfast yet?” Sean asked, looking in the sink for any potential dishes.
Daniel piped up, somewhat offended at the question. “I had breakfast ages ago!” He replied, “ You woke up so late. You wouldn't even know.” The younger crossed his arms, shying away with the comment.
Sean scolded himself for his actions. He knew he shouldn’t have left Daniel alone like that, how selfish of him.
“Right.. Sorry About that” He apologised to the back of Daniel's head, the boy clearly making an impact on the other.
“I woke up alone Sean” he continued, kicking a stone under his foot.
Sean spoke back instantly “I’m sorry enano”
“I even saw you leave Finn's tent this morning. With him.” Shit. Daniel saw that?
“Daniel it’s not-” Sean sputtered out.
“It’s like you don’t even care about me anymore, you’re always talking to Finn.” Small sniffs could be heard from the smaller. Sean’s heart dropped, he really fucked up.
“I’m sorry.” Sean murmured. Soft enough that only the two could hear the words that remained heavy among them.
“Whatever..” Daniel left without another word, joining the others as if it was no big deal.
Sean was left alone with his thoughts after that moment. Once again he found his eyes wandering over the campsite and those around the fire, everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves, deeply engaged in conversation.
However Sean couldn’t hear the familiar guitar that peeked through during the quiet moments. Instead, the instrument rested against its stump without its owner far off in another corner of the camp.
Sean only managed to catch sight of Cassidy due to the fact that Finn accompanied her in conversation. The two didn’t look the happiest though. Sean was curious of course, Finn never seemed to have issues with others, so what was going on?
~~~~
“Finn, we need to talk”
Cassidy caught Finn once Sean had left the fire pit. Clearly annoyed at something, Finn complied.
“Woahhhh, what’s the matter sweetie?” He asked with a laugh, Finn stood up from the log he was previously sat at and began to follow cass without further question.
Once the two made it further away from the group she turned to face him.
“What the fuck have you been doing with Sean?” Her words were harsh and direct. Immediately Finn guard raised at the mention of a certain name.
Finn’s eyes glared at the woman in front of him, studying the situation before continuing cautiously.
“Just hanging out… y'know how it is” her eyebrows raised, unamused at the answer
“I saw what you did to him” her words were cold, demanding more than Finn was willing to give.
“And?”
“You’re going to hurt him eventually” Cassidy replied. She knew what Sean had been through, the amount of weight he was carrying. He was so young. Cass felt for him, she really did. Sean didn’t deserve this life.
“I know what I’m doing” Finn spoke with a new found confidence, his shoulders broadened and head held high.
“Really? You couldn’t even keep it to yourself for a few weeks, you just had to go fuck with every new victim you find” Cass flew a hand up in exasperation, emphasising her words.
Finn subconsciously backed off, causing his feet to follow. He took a step back before replying. “Jeez chill out Cass.”
Despite keeping his distance, Cassidy remained a burning flame.“No. Sean is stressed enough as it is, adding all this bullshit is just making it worse”
“He’s happy with me, you wouldn’t understand.” The boy smiled to himself, content with the idea of Sean being with him.
Cass pointed a finger as she spoke, subtly inching forward until her pointer finger poked Finn’s chest. “I don’t need to understand, I know you, Finn. This isn’t going to end well.”
The two pairs of eyes were locked on each other. Both unwilling to break the silence between them.
Eventually Finn spoke once more. “I’m just letting the boy have some fun y'know? No need to ruin the party”
Cassidy backed off, signing with defeat. “I’m so tired of you.” She gave him one final glare before making her way back to the camp fire.
Finn let out a breath he hadn’t known he’d been holding. Fuck cass can be scary at times. But that never stopped him, he wasn’t doing anything wrong and he knew it. Maybe Cassidy was just going through shit. Like.. projecting! Yes. That’s what she was doing, it actually had nothing to do with Finn and she was just having a go at him because she was upset at herself.
Besides, Finn was doing the right thing for Sean. He was being helpful and caring. Sean was his to save from the difficult situation he was in.
~~~
Most of the day was spent indulging in personal hobbies, occasionally groups would take trips to the lake or go foraging for fire wood but mostly the nine of them could be found wandering between tents and trees.
Sean, as usual, spent his time etching his vision of tall redwoods and the surrounding camp into his journal, unsurprisingly enough the most recent and vivid memories in his mind seem to be of Finn.
His page became a view into the tent he most recently entered, the books littered among cans and wrappers of unknown origin. It wasn’t much but it definitely felt like Finn.
Once Sean had finished the quick sketches he had remembered, Sean’s head rose from his book and took another moment to observe the camp. Everything seemed to be normal except for one thing.
His typically bright and bubbly brother was nowhere to be seen.
Of course this wasn’t the first time Sean had let his brother out of his sight, but it still set off raging alarm bells every time Sean was lost to where Daniel may be.
Without hesitation Sean rose to his feet, making quick work of crossing the campsite. His legs worked faster than his brain and before he knew it Sean was headed towards the lake. It was Daniel’s favourite spot after all.
Despite being caught up in his own head, The silence surrounding him brought his body to a complete halt. He was barely able to hear sounds of soft sniffling within the forest.
Sean marched into the dense forest without question. Stepping out countless twigs and pushing through overgrown bushes.
Once he got closer to the sound he called out “Daniel?”
The sniffling seemed to shush itself, somehow giving Sean a little more hope.
“Look, if this is about the Finn thing...” Sean started, still closing the distance between him and his brother.
“When isn’t it about Finn. It's always him and never me.” The boy behind the bark spoke.
Sean sighed, why couldn’t he have just done more to prevent this? “No Daniel, I promise it’s not like that” Sean pleaded with the younger
The younger came out from behind the wall of wood and finally faced his brother.
“Really? What is it then?” His head turned away from Sean, finding interest in anything other than the person in front of him.
The two avoided facing each other for a brief moment, until Sean took another step forward. Grabbing the attention of the younger.
“Come back to camp. We can roast marshmallows together if you want?” He held out a hand, silently begging the other to say yes.
“No. Go back and do that with Finn. I don’t wanna do anything with you!” The younger gave one last look at Sean before turning around and beginning to walk away, despite walking into complete bush.
“Daniel?” Sean called out, quickly catching onto the fact that Daniel was in fact leaving the conversation, and the camp.
“Leave me alone!” The younger cried out picking up his pace.
Sean chased the other through the woods, leaping over fallen logs and stumbling under the uncharted terrain.
“Daniel no! I'm sorry!” Sean called out to the small boy, sobs were choked out with each word, tears rolling down Sean's face as he pleaded with his brother.
He couldn't be losing his brother, not after everything they had been through. Sean's mind was running with endless possibilities. What if Daniel hated him forever? Or ran away and never came back? Sean was lost without him, he loved Daniel.
With tears blurring his vision, Sean managed to trip over a thick root in the ground. The poor boy wept as his legs gave out, finally leaving Sean alone with his sorrows. His face heated and head throbbing. After his body had caught up with the shock the raging anger in his hands began to emerge, and blood rose to the surface.
Sean was exhausted, covered in scrapes and bruises, and nowhere near camp. It would take more energy that he had at the time to get himself back. For now he had to get his breath back. In and out, it shouldn't take this much effort.
He sat back on his knees, trying to ignore the pain in his ankle and instead assess the injuries on the upper half of his body. They weren't too bad, just something he's going to have to look at before bed.
Speaking of the times, it was getting late, the sky was starting to blend into a number of colors, hues of orange and pink decorate the treetops. Sean groaned at the realisation that it was only him out there, there was no other way to get back beside by himself.
Reluctantly, the boy stabled himself beside a tree, leaning on it as he made his way to his feet.
The walk back seemed more of a hobble, the weak ankle causing Sean to limp over small broken branches and exposed roots. It was a struggle, but not impossible.
Once Sean had made it to a clearing, the familiar tents began to show through the gaps in the trees. His pace quickened as he pushed himself through the tall wood barriers. Before he knew it he found himself beside Finn's tent, heaving as he came to a stop.
The sound of his heartbeat heavy in his ears must have blocked out the sound of a tent zip opening as Finn managed his way out of his tent.
Sean only noticed the boy once he heard his name leave his lips. “Sean?” Finn called, making quick work in getting over to Sean.
The boys’ head flicked up, immediately catching sight of Finn. His body softened at the familiar face, thankful that there was someone here.
“What’s got you so beat up?” Finn asked, holding Sean's shoulders.
Sean tried to see over Finn's shoulder, searching for his own tent “Just… Daniel. Has he come back? I kinda fucked things up.”
“Well that's not good” The other started, “the little dude did come back though, he looked pretty upset. I wouldn't interrupt him right now.” Sean nodded in response, which makes sense I guess.
“Why don't you come inside?” Finn gestured to the test beside them.
Hesitantly, Sean agreed despite his injuries “yeah, okay”
He began to limp his way over, the distance wasn't even that long, and his journey was even shorter once Finn saw him.
“Woah woah sweetheart! Guess that ankles really fucked.” he immediately grabbed seans arm, lifting it over his shoulders “let me help, you must be in so much pain.”
The two walked in tandem to the front of the tent, Finn carefully placing Sean inside the unorderly dirt-ridden floor. Finn followed quickly after, taking a seat to the side of his bed.
“Let's see what I have here..” Finn rifled through the contents of a small box, pulling out bottles and bandages. “Right, buckle up. I’m not any doctor but I've definitely cleansed enough wounds to know how this works”
The two spent the next while addressing the blood and covering open wounds. The burn of alcohol on each hand stung worse than Sean remembered, but maybe he's just tired. Could be both.
“Shit Finn. that hurts” he hissed through locked teeth
“Shh it's okay sweetie, it'll all be okay soon” he cooed, smiling as he spoke.
Once Sean was finally fixed up, the weight of his body collapsed back onto the slim mattress. “Im so exhausted.” he whined.
“I bet.” Finn laughed as he lay down bedside the other.
The two laid there in comfortable silence until Sean spoke once more “Thanks, by the way.”
“No problem Darlin’. I’m just here to help.” Finn said, “ It's what you do for those you love.” and the words were so casual it genuinely caught Sean off guard.
“Love?” he repeated without another thought.
“Yeah of course. I feel it between us, do you not?”
Of course Sean did, the touches, the names, the way FInn cared for him. That was love wasn’t it? He's been so helpful and caring, Sean was literally homeless before he came across this camp, without Finn he would have nothing. Him and Daniel would be suffering far more. He has Finn to thank for everything.
“Yeah, me too”
