I don't wanna learn another scent

Summary:

Yumeko is genuinely happy for them, happy that they have found their peace and chose love out of their own will. She does wish deep down, that Kira had done the same. But as promised she would wait for her, no matter how long it would take, even if it took years, she would hold onto the hope that maybe one day, Kira would finally come back to her.

But what Yumeko didn't expect was that Kira would actually come back — and she certainly didn't expect for Kira to be with an unexpected person.

Work Text:

It had been a few years since Yumeko successfully completed her plan. She had managed to avenge her parents, but a lot had changed in the process.

While Yumeko was trying to do her plan, Kira's father arranged for Kira to be married off for business, because he desired more power and wealth. Yumeko tried to stop Kira from going along with her father's plan, but she refused. She reassured Yumeko that everything would be okay. Something inside Yumeko shattered but she chose to respect her decision — hoping inside that Kira had a plan to turn things against her father.

Yumeko watched Kira get married off, having been invited by Kira's father —who had no idea that Kira was her girlfriend. Honestly, Yumeko wasn't sure if they had a label for their relationship but they both knew to each other that they were special to each other. The bond they had created since that — until now that is.

As she sorted among the guests, something inside Yumeko cracked even more as she watched Kira kiss the man she was marrying. But what completely hurt Yumeko even more was the look on Kira's face, something flickering in her face a mix of sadness and regret that made Yumeko's chest tighten.

Yumeko couldn't take it anymore. As a last resort, just before she left the wedding, she handed Kira a letter with a bitter smile and walked away from her to continue her plan.

The letter contained an address — the place where Yumeko would be staying after her plan had been completed and once everything was over. It also contained a love confession on how deeply she loves Kira and a promise that she would be waiting for her.

But as she left the wedding, Yumeko didn't  hear the whisper carried through the air, that was meant only for her.

"Wait for me, моя любовь."

It did take a while for Yumeko to complete her plan, and during that time, her communication with Kira lessened. Still, they maintained their alliance, even if there were unspoken feelings that were unsaid between them.

Yumeko was caught off guard when she found out that Kira's father had attempted again to marry off his other daughter, Riri. But by unexpected luck — or perhaps courage — Riri ran away on the day of the wedding, escaping with the love of her life, Mary Davis.

(Present Day)

It was just a normal day for Yumeko, she was just doing her usual routine when she suddenly received a call from Mary. She picked it up and immediately pulled the phone away from her ear.

"Mary what the hell — my poor ear!" Yumeko exclaimed,  rubbing her ear in mock pain while she could hear Mary from the other side of the phone giggling.

"Sorry, Yume." Mary said from the other side of the phone. I let out a sarcastic laugh, but before I could hear a reply, I heard a door creak open. I looked towards the sound and it was just Michael standing there, yawning and rubbing his air.

"What the hell is all that noise?" Michael grumbled, clearly not happy that he had woken up from his sleep.

He walked over to Yumeko and saw that it was just Mary, who greeted him with a grin.

"Don't you have a fiance to bother?" Michael said to her, raising an eyebrow towards the phone.

Mary responded to him by giving him a playful glare. "Don't you have some bread to make?"

Michael let out a sarcastic laugh but was already turning around, and making his way toward the kitchen.

"Why did you even call Mary?" Yumemo finally asked her.

Mary just looked at her with a grin. "Me and Riri are coming over in a few minutes." Mary said while she casually fixed her hair.

Yumeko gave her a playful glare before turning around and heading to the kitchen to make herself some tea.

"Mary and Riri are coming over." Yumeko informed Michael, who was busy gathering ingredients to make his bread.

"Again?" Michael asked her while raising an eyebrow.

Yumeko nodded at him while she set down her phone against a cup to prop it up, so her hand would be free so she could gather the things she needed to make her tea.

Michael turned his attention to the phone while Yumeko, in the background, was just minding her business of making herself a cup of tea.

"You two were just here yesterday." Michael said to the phone with a deadpan tone.

Mary rolled her eyes at him, but before she could give an answer, Riri suddenly appeared on screen and said with a smirk.

"And?"

Riri wasn't wearing her mask when she said this, she was finally comfortable enough to not wear it around the people she was comfortable and felt safe to be around with.

Michael just gave her a sarcastic smile before sighing to himself.

"Fine but can you two pick some milk on the way?" Michael asked them while he continued prepping the ingredients he needed to make his bread.

"I'm leaving Riri there with you, Yumeko will come with me to the store." Mary said while glancing over to Yumeko in the background, who was silently sipping her tea.

"Damn you can't even let me finish my tea first." Yumeko muttered to herself while putting down her tea.

"I heard that." Mary shot back.

"We're gonna leave now, Yume. Please be ready by then." Mary told her who gave her a forced smile while finishing the last of her tea and humming in agreement.

Michael waved them goodbye and before he ended the call, brushed his hands from the flour he got from prepping his ingredients. He then turned around to face Yumeko.

"Can I have some?" Michael asked, her while reaching for her tea.

Yumeko glared at him while moving the cup out of his reach just so he couldn't grab her tea. "No, make one yourself." Yumeko tells him and turns around to walk away to get ready.

"Not fair! I bought that for you!" Michael called out while pouting.

"So? Make one yourself!" Yumeko shouted from her room while picking out clothes to wear.

Michael just shook his head with a chuckle and went back to continue prepping the things he needed to make his bread.

Knowing Mary and Riri, he was even more certain than Yumeko was when she thought Blake's dad was the one who murdered her parents, that there was no way that they were not gonna show up here just by themselves.

Meanwhile, in Yumeko's room, she was already dressed wearing a pair of pants and a long-sleeved shirt. The sleeve on her left shoulder was just lowered down a bit like the one she wore at the party. She didn't know why she got the urge to wear it again, but nonetheless, she still decided to wear it.

Before leaving her room, knowing Mary she was probably almost here, her attention went to the perfume bottle that was sitting on her desk. Before she could stop herself, she was already holding the perfume bottle and spraying herself with it. She then gently put it back on the desk, before stepping out of her room.

When Yumeko left her room and walked into the kitchen to drink the rest of her tea, she found Michael covered in flour from head to toe while casually drinking her tea.

"You literally just woke up, and decided to make bread, and you are already covered in flour?" Yumeko said, while rolling her eyes and grabbing her tea from him.

"I love my bread so what?" Michael replied back with a grin.

Then, someone knocked on the door.

"You get it."

"No, you get it."

"It's the least you could the after drinking all of my tea."

"Well, I'm making a loaf, so if you could just get it-"

They argued back and forth, not even noticing the door had already been opened. They only realized when someone coughed to get their attention.

"Are you gonna let us in?" Suki asked them while inspecting his nails casually.

Yumeko looked at Mary with a raised brow, who just simply grinned at her.

"I thought it was just gonna be you and Riri."

Mary just shook her head and let herself in, while pulling Riri along as the others followed behind.

"Riri, my dear, please make sure they don't destroy the place while we're at the store." Mary said sweetly and kissed Riri on the cheek.

Riri blushed, her cheeks turning red, but gave her a nod. "I will милый." Riri replied back.

"There are single people here, you know!" Runa complained to them dramatically, while covering her eyes with one hand as if the sight could burn her eyes.

She's wearing her frog onesie, the hood slightly tilted, and as usual, she has a lollipop tucked into the corner of her mouth.

"Get a room please." Ryan complained too while covering his face with both of his hands. "Preferably far away from us." Dori added on while playing with a knife she pulled out of nowhere.

Mary gave them a sarcastic laugh before grabbing Yumeko by her wrist and dragging her towards the door. While Yumeko almost stumbled, she called back to the group inside. "Please, don't burn my house down!"

Michael gave her a casual thumbs up with a grin while dusting flour off his hands. But of course, Chad has something to add. "No promises." He called out with a smirk, sitting on the couch like he owned the place.

Yumeko gave him a death glare, already halfway making a decision to turn back and punch where the sun don't shine, but before she could do that, Mary had already pulled her out of the door. The door shot behind them with a slam, leaving behind a room full of chaos and mentally unstable people inside and house who may or may not survive with them not inside.

"Why did you do that? I wanted to slap him!" Yumeko exclaimed, glaring at Mary, who continued holding her wrist while they began walking toward the store.

"Oh, don't worry." Mary replied with a mischievous grin. "I'm not holding you back when we come back."

Mary then smelled a familiar perfume in the air and turned to Yumeko with a knowing smile. "You're still using the perfume?"

Yumeko just shot a look that clearly said, Of course, I am.

"I wonder what will be her reaction when she finds out you stole her perfume years ago and still use it." Mary said to her with a teasing smile, making a mocking thinking expression.

Yumeko shot her a glare when she said that and quickly hushed her. "Be quiet someone could hear you."

Mary gave her an Are you serious face and replied. "Dude, she's not here. It's not like she could magically appear at any moment."

Yumeko let out a mocking laugh and said. "You don't know that. And guess what? I found a box of my favorite tea on my doorstep a few days ago."

Mary made a humming sound while listening to her. "Maybe you have an admirer." Mary said to her with a teasing smile then immediately quickened her pace when Yumuko tried to slap the back of her head.

"If I did, I would've thrown away that damn tea." Yumeko shouted at her while running after her.

When Yumeko finally managed to catch up with Mary, she was out of breath.

"Guess it was a bad idea to wear heels." Mary teased her, warning her with Yumeko flipping her off as stand up properly.

The grocery store was already in front of them, so after a minute of them bickering with each other, they decided to finally go inside.

"Let's get this over with before Chad destroys everything in my house." Yumeko said to Mary, who nodded in agreement. Knowing Chad, he was bound to do something stupid while they were away. Without Kira around to tell him off, he had been more reckless and irritating than usual.

"Agree." Yumeko and Mary then looked at each other, nodded, and then went off to find where they kept the milk.

"We've been here so many times already how come we still don't know where they keep the damn milk." Mary muttered to herself in frustration, while silently going crazy trying to find the milk in every aisle.

Yumeko is just snickering from behind her, already spotting where the milk is. "Mary it's over there."

Yumeko then walked up to Mary, grabbed her face with both of her hands and turned it in the direction of where the milk was.

"Finally!" Mary shouted and went running toward the milk section, while Yumeko chuckled.

But before she could follow her, when something suddenly crashed into her from behind, nearly causing her to almost stumble. Thankfully, she managed to maintain her balance.

When Yumeko turned around to see who had bumped into her, she saw a small child sitting on the ground with his head buried in his knees. Yumeko then knelt down to his level and said softly. "Hey, hey, are you okay?"

"I'm sorry for bumping into you." The child mumbled, his head still buried in his knees. Yumeko luckily managed to hear him. She smiles softly at the child before gently ruffling his hair.

"Hey, it's okay. Where's your mother?" Yumeko asked the child kindly.

Just then, Yumeko heard hurried footsteps from the other side of the aisle and looked up to see someone running in their direction.

Everything around Yumeko seemed to stop the moment she finally recognized the person running towards them. Her heart was pounding faster against her chest, trying to break free. A warm flush spread across her cheek, they were the color of deep red.

"Kira-san..." Yumeko whispered, barely audible, as if saying the name would make the person disappear, not wanting this moment to suddenly disappear just like how it started.

Kira hadn't even noticed that Yumeko was standing in front of her because her attention was focused on checking on her child.

"Yuri, hey, why did you wander off like that?" Kira asked her child gently while she knelt down and scooped her child into her arms.

"I wanted chocolate." The boy mumbled into her neck while clinging tightly to his mom.

Kira let out a soft chuckle, and that made Yumeko smile from how long she hadn't heard her laugh like that since the last time she saw her years ago, But when Kira's eyes lifted and met the pair of eyes of the woman she's been thinking for the last few years.

"Yumeko." Kira said, her voice in a mixture of surprise and flustered.

When the boy heard his mom mention Yumeko's name, his eyes lit up and he lifted his head with a wide grin while glancing between his mom and Yumeko.

"Mom! Is she-"

Before he could even finish what he was saying, Kira quickly covered Yuri's mouth with her hand and gave Yumeko a forced smile but her cheeks said otherwise.

Yumeko raised an eyebrow at this, lips twitching in amusement as she crossed her arms with an amusing smirk.

"Am I what, exactly dear Kira?" Yumeko asked her with a teasing tone.

Kira then shot her a look, while blushing still holding her son.

Before Kira could even open her mouth to speak, a familiar voice called out from behind Yumeko.

"I found the milk Michael wanted, so can we go back now? So I can go back to my fiance before she kills Chad-"

Mary's sentence trails off as she rounded the corner and saw Kira, holding a young boy in her arms. She then let out a dramatic gasp while her eyes widened.

"Since when the hell did you have a son?!" Mary shouted while she pointed at Yuri and then Kira with a shocked look on her face.

Yumeko winced at the loudness of her voice and gave Mary a look. "We're in a public space Mary so please don't shout"

Mary gave her a side-eye look before saying. "Since when the hell did you care about me shouting in public?"

"Good to see you again, Mary." Kira greeted Mary with a soft smile.

Mira blinked in surprise while giving her a weird look at the sudden kindest she was receiving from her. "Did I miss a chapter or what?" Mary asked while raising her eyebrow.

Kira chuckled lightly at her while setting down her son, who immediately started playing with the hems of her shirt.

"Did Riri not tell you?" Kira asked Mary who's eyes widened.

"She's sleeping on the couch tonight." Mary mumbled under her breath.

Yumeko leaned over to her and whispered in her ear. "Can you take Yuri to the other aisle for a moment?"

Mary gave her a confused look before realizing who she was indicating to and what she was trying to do. With a nod, she then knelt down to Yuri's level.

"Hey, want to go grab some chocolates?" Mary asked Yuri with a soft tone while smiling.

Yuri's eyes lit up, while he eagerly nodded, and reached out to grab Mary's hand. While giggling he practically skipped to the next aisle beside her.

Just before turning around the corner, Mary glanced back at them and gave them a wink while smirking, wishing them good luck.

Yumeko chuckled softly, before turning around to face Kira — only to see her standing still, head lowered down, clearly not wanting to meet her eyes. It had been years since they talked to each other and it was clear Kira was feeling guilty because of it.

Yumeko's expression softened with a bitter smile showing up on her face. Slowly, she closed the distance between them and gently reached out to cradle Kira's face between her hands.

"I'm glad you're back my love." She whispered, her voice filled with loving only for Kira.

Kira then finally looked up, her blue teary eyes meeting Yumeko's own brown eyes that were full of love for her.

"You waited..." Kira whispered, her voice trembling her words filled with disbelief and longing. Her eyes still locked into Yumeko's own that held a lot of unspoken feelings that had built up over the years.

Yumeko nodded at her question without hesitation, her smile soft and reassuring for Kira.  "Of course I did, my love." Yumeko replied with a sweet smile, her tone laced with warmth.

She brought her forehead to rest against Kira's, closing the space between them that had built up over the years they spent apart both emotionally and physically. Her thumb with soft, brushing away the tear that

She brought her forehead to rest against Kira’s, closing the space between them both physically and emotionally. Her hands moved with care, thumbs brushing away the tear that had silently slipped down Kira’s cheek.

“I told you I would wait as long as it took,” Yumeko murmured. “You were always worth the wait.”

Kira let out a shaky breath, leaning into her touch as if finally allowing herself to believe it was real.

"I missed you, my president." Yumeko said tenderly, wrapping her arms around tightly Kira, afraid that she could disappear at any moment.

"I'm still your president?" Kira mumbled into Yumeko's neck and stood on her tippy toes because of their height difference.

"Of course." Yumeko whispered.

Yumeko could feel Kira's soft chuckle against her neck, which made her smile softly. Slowly, Yumeko then gently pulled back but just enough to look at Kirs, but her hands slid down to take Kira's in hers.

"Please.... come home." Yumeko said, her voice trembling with all of the emotions that built up the moment she finally saw her again.

Kira looked at her with her eyes full of warmth and affection. With that, Kira leaned in and pressed a loving kiss to Yumeko's forehead.

"I'm coming home now."

Yumeko then let out a breath she hadn't even realize she was holding. Then, she noticed Kira staring at her lips without a hint of shame, which made her smirk having an idea.

"You know my lips belong to yours, right?" Yumeko teased her.

Kira immediately went red at her comment, and let her hair cover her blushing face.

"There is a child here, you know." Mary commented from behind Yumeko, using both of her hands to cover Yuri's ear. Neither of them didn't even noticed that Mary and Yuri had already returned from the chocolate aisle.

Yuri then ran toward his mother with a wide grin on his face, proudly holding out the chocolate he picked and showing it to his mom. "Mama, look! Aunt Mary let me grab any chocolate I wanted!" He said excitedly while pointing at Mary, who just simply crossed her arms and smirked.

"You already got him to call you Aunt." Yumeko whispered to Yuri while watching the sweet moment between the mother and son duo.

"Yep." Mary replied casually, making Yumeko chuckle at her.

"You still gonna make Riri sleep on the couch?" Yumeko asked Mary while raising an eyebrow. Mary simply nodded at her question.

Suddenly, Yumeko's phone started ringing. She then pulled it out of her pocket and saw Michael's name flashing on the screen of her phone. Sighing to herself while giving Mary a look, she then answered the call.

"Let me guess — Chad is doing something stupid?" Yumeko asked immediately, already hearing chaos happening in the background.

"It's Chad. Of course, he's doing something stupid." Michael replied. But then he noticed Dori reaching for the cloth he placed over the bowl to let the bread dough ferment.

"DON'T YOU DARE LIFT THAT-"

The call immediately went off and that's all that Yumeko needed. "We gotta get back." Yumeko then looked at Kira who was already looking at her. "I'm coming with you."

The call abruptly cut off.

That was all Yumeko needed to hear. "We gotta get back," she said quickly, then turned to Kira, who was already looking at her.

"I'm coming with you," Kira said without hesitation.

"As sweet as this moment is." Mary chimed in, cutting their moment short with a grin. "We walked here, and we don't wanna walk all the way back especially with Yumeko complaining earlier that it wasn't the right idea to wear heels today." Mary pointed out while pointing at Yumemo at her last sentence who playfully glared at her.

Kira just smirked at her in response before casually pulling out her car keys out of her pocket and dangling them showing them to Mary and Yumeko with a look.

"Don't worry. I'll drive."

After a few minutes later and after a few playful arguments at the register with Kira kept insisting that she would pay for the things they bought despite the protests of Mary and Yumeko.

They finally made their way out of the store and into the parking lot. The late after casts long shadows across the parking lot, with a gentle breeze.

Kira then led them towards her car, which wasn't parked far away from the store entrance. "Damn, she got a nice car." Mary muttered to Yumeko while checking out Kira's car.

Kira then opened the door and gently placed Yuri — who had now fallen asleep — in the front seat. She then carefully buckled his seatbelt, making sure he was comfortable and still asleep, then quietly closed the door carefully to not wake him up.

Kira then noticed that Yumeko and Mary were just standing there, not moving an inch. "What? You're not going to get in?" She asked, with the same commanding tone she once used back then when she was The President of St Dominic's.

Mary smirked while raising an eyebrow. "Ah, there it is, the same tone that I got used to. I was starting to wonder how long it would take for our old President's voice to come out."

Yumeko just chuckled at her, she opened the back door for Mary and her to climb in.

"Some things just never change you know."

Kira let her mask fall off — the same mask she used to wear back then when she was with her father. But he was gone now, and she was with people who would treat her like an actual family. She pushed that mask to the back of her mind, locked it away in a drawer, and threw away the key never to be found again. Because she will never need it to wear again.

Kira then got into the driver's seat and buckled herself up before starting the engine. She still remembered the address that was written in the letter that Yumeko had left her years ago. So she didn't bother asking — she knew that Yumeko was well aware that she hadn't forgotten it.

After a few minutes of driving with no traffic along the way, they arrived at Yumeko's place pretty fast. Kira then turned off the engine and looked back to face Yumeko and Mary. "We're here." All of them then stepped out of the car, but Kira walked to the other side of the car opened the car door and gently lifted her son into her arms, his face buried into her neck. Before she could close the car door, Yumeko stepped in and did it for her.

"I can carry him if you want." Yumeko whispered to her as they followed Mary, who was already walking towards the door of Yumeko's house. Kira nodded and gently handed Yuri over, who was still asleep. Yumeko slowed down her steps to avoid not waking him up, while Kira just stayed beside her not wanting to be far away this time.

Mary opened the door which wasn't locked up seeing that Yumeko's hands were occupied. "We're back!" Mary called out loud enough for anyone who was still alive in the house to hear. The sound of footsteps could be heard by them.

"Finally! Can you guys please — Is that a kid?" Michael's words trailed off as he saw Yumeko holding a small boy, and Kira standing beside her.

"Did you guys buy a child at the store?" Runa asked them, raising an eyebrow— until her eyes widened in realization seeing who was standing beside Yumeko.

"What did Chad do now?" Kira asked them, giving Yumeko a look that said to take Yuri into another room. Yumeko nodded in understanding and quickly began walking toward her room.

"Hey, Yumeko!." Ryan called out from the living room while strangling Chad who was trying to get out of his grip Riri left to greet her fiance while Dori was just sitting on the couch with Suki just on his phone, but Yumeko quickly hushed him, while pointing at the kid she's holding in her arms before slipping into her room and closing the door behind her.

"Was that a fucking child?" Suki blurted out in disbelief, staring at the door that Yumeko just closed. But he immediately stood up when Kira and the others entered the room.

Before he could even greet her, another voice cut through.

"You're sleeping on the couch tonight." Mary said firmly, with her arms crossed as she looked at Riri, who walked in behind her with her head down, it was clear she accepted her faith.

"Yes, Милый." Riri answered back, nodding without a hint of protest, while Kira watched her sister with amusement.

A timer could be heard going off in the kitchen.

"My bread!" Michael shouted and dashed towards the kitchen with Dori following behind him.

Kira raised an eyebrow as she watched him run towards the kitchen. "Since when has he been so obsessed with bread?" Kira asked, glancing towards everyone in the room who just shrugged their shoulders.

"He went down a rabbit hole watching on how to make bread." Chad answered, still being pinned under the floor by Ryan, who's not bothered to move "Now he's obsessed."

"Now tell me the reason why you're currently pinned down against the floor." Kira asked him, crossing her arms.

"He lost in Uno." Rex answered her, appearing out of nowhere and now he's standing next to Suki.

Kira gave him a look that said, Are you serious?

Finally, Ryan stood up, allowing Chad to finally stand up on his feet.

Michael then broke the tension as he entered with freshly baked bread, with Dori following from behind holding the rest of the bread he made.

"Who wants to watch a movie?" Michael grinned towards them as he set down the bread on the coffee table, with Dori placing the rest after him.

"Oh, and by the way, we will be expecting another guest."

And right on time, someone rang the doorbell.

Ryan walked over to the door and was shocked to see who was on the other side of the door. "Blake?" Ryan said with a shocked tone.

And everyone except Michael turned to look towards the door, with shocked looks on their face especially Runa who nearly dropped her lollipop.

"Hi!" Blake greeted them with a grin, noticing everyone staring at her in shock. "Why are you all looking at me like that?" Blake asked them, stepping inside and closing the door behind her seeing that Ryan was still frozen while looking at her in shock.

"Did Yumeko seriously not tell you guys?" Blake asked them, raising an eyebrow and all of them nodded in sync.

"Guys, stop that. And Blake — Yumeko was supposed to tell them today, but uh... she was kinda busy before you arrived." Michael explained, then pointed towards Yumeko who had just finished putting Yuri to bed. And she looked up and noticed all of them staring at her. "What?"

"Care to explain what exactly you were doing that kept you from telling us that Blake is still alive?"

Yumeko then let out an "oh" sound then casually pointed at Kira. "She distracted me."

Kira gasped in a fake offended tone while Riri quietly chucked at her sister's reaction.

"Of course." Blake muttered, shaking her head while chuckling.

A few minutes later, with everyone seated in the living room. The couples were sat next to each other, with the singles gathered on the large couch — with the exception of Runa and Blake, sitting on another couch together and was suspiciously close together. Playing on the TV was the newest Lilo & Stitch movie.

Kira was eyeing Runa and Blake suspiciously as they sat next to each other and were sharing a blanket. And if Kira could see through the blanket, she would see them secretly holding hands. Yumeko then looked at Kira and leaned in closer to her ear. "I'm glad you're home."

She then focused her attention on Yumeko, smiling sweetly as she took her hands and caressed them lovingly.

"I'm glad too." Kira then gently kissed Yumeko on the cheek, fully aware of her sister and Mary watching them while smirking.

Yumeko giggled and then rested her head on Kira's shoulder, who leaned her head against her in return. A soft smile formed on Kira's face and can finally relaxed — there were no more threats, and she was finally home, to her.
