Chapter 1
Notes:
Dear Yvonne.
I hope you do not hate me for what have i done in the second chapter.
and i hope you'll get so much laughter as i had when i came up with this idea. (and before you would get terrified you need to know that this was pictured via MOkhwa POV and as much as we all love him, we cannot deny, that he sometimes have pretty werid reasoning.

Chapter Text
Mokhwa was watering the flowers in a pot when he heard the doorbell signaling the arrival of a customer
At least, he assumed it was a customer. It was 10am. Too early to go out for lunch. Definitely too early to leave the office for the rest of the day.
But with Nakwon, you never knew.
Mokhwa shook his head, suddenly strangely amused by the thought of a police officer's unpredictability.
He looked up to confirm that he had been right. The people who entered were a mother holding her daughter’s hand.
“And then Hani showed us how to make a chatterbox and I made one too! Look!” — she held out a folded piece of paper decorated with four colorful dots toward her mom.
“Beautiful, sweetheart. Say hello to the gentleman.”
“Good morning,” Mokhwa greeted.
“Good morning,” the girl whispered.
“Hello, sir. I would like to buy a bouquet of white flowers and a ribbon with writing on it. Please keep it within 50,000 won.”
Mokhwa nodded and began preparing the bouquet.
Meanwhile, the girl held out the chatterbox to her mother and showed her how to play. She asked her to pick a color, then placed her fingers in the paper pockets at the bottom, moving the toy. Then she asked her to choose another color, probably the one inside, repeating the process. Finally, she asked her mom to pick number one or two, then, to Mokhwa’s surprise, she suddenly flattened the chatterbox, turned it and grabbed one end of the folded paper, unfolding it and giggling softly.
"it says that you’ll fall in love with the person to your left!”
Both women automatically looked at Mokhwa, who was finishing tying the ribbon.
“Ae-cha! You don’t joke about things like that! You know I love your daddy.”
The girl frowned slightly, but then nodded, seemingly satisfied that even though her mother wouldn’t fulfill the fortune, she wouldn’t stop loving her husband.
“What would you like it to say?” Mokhwa asked.
“Oh. Just ‘Thank you, Doctor,’” she smiled gently.
Well. That explained a bit why the mother had taken the girl out of school at this hour.
Mokhwa wrote the dedication and handed the woman the bouquet.
“Thank you. Ae-cha, hold the bouquet. You’re the one who’s giving it. Mommy will pay.”
The woman handed Mokhwa a bill and, thanking him, headed toward the exit, her daughter following her, waving goodbye to Mokhwa.
Silence returned to the flower shop.
The silence that always surrounded Mokhwa. Since he was born and his mother abandoned him, sending him to his brother. A silence he had gotten used to. And a silence that, for some reason, didn’t quite seem to fit in the small flower shop.
Mokhwa didn’t know why. Just six months ago, it had seemed right. But now, he felt something was missing. Some kind of sound. Maybe music? Maybe he should buy a radio? Yes. It felt like a speaker voice was missing in the background.
Without knowing why, Mokhwa looked to the left. There was a chair next to his desk, where Nakwon usually sat.
Mokhwa’s eyes caught a white shape on the wooden counter.
Chatterbox.
The girl must have left the toy when her mother handed her the bouquet.
Mokhwa picked up the origami and walked to the door, hoping to catch up with them.
Unfortunately, before he even reached the door, he saw a car passing by with the mother and daughter inside.
Mokhwa sighed.
Maybe the girl would come back for the toy? Or maybe she’d just make another one.
He looked at the toy in his hand.
With slight hesitation, he placed his fingers inside the same way the girl had.
He chose the color Green.
G-R-E-E-N
The chatterbox opened in the middle so that one half was purple and the other brown. He chose Brown.
B-R-O-W-N
This time a new slot appeared with orange and pink, with the numbers 1 and 2 written on them. He chose 2 — the one on the pink background.
He hesitated again but then carefully unfolded the paper the way he thought the girl had done.
As he thought, under one of the corners was a text written in shaky child handwriting. Under number two was the fortune:
“A talking tomato will appear in your dreams and eat you.”
Mokhwa snorted with laughter.
Kids.
Fortunes about falling in love with the person next to you, and dreams about talking tomatoes.
Mokhwa returned behind the counter and put the chatterbox into a drawer.
Besides, Mokhwa didn’t need a talking tomato. He already had one person who talked more than enough.
…
When he thought about it now, that night, a few days after New Year, Nakwon really did look like a tomato, with a red blush covering his whole face.
…
After he woke him from a dream.
After he shouted that he loved him, tears in his eyes.
After he told him to hit him if he didn’t like ‘this’.
…
And just before…
…
He ate him.
…
Mokhwa shook his head, chasing away the strange thoughts.
It was just a silly child’s fortune. He was overinterpreting.
He went back to watering the flowers.
Bonus:
A few months later, Mokhwa was unexpectedly gifted the entire café along with the attached apartment (and roommate)
Noona was going to take over the flower shop, hiring someone to replace him. That’s why he wanted to make sure he left the place clean.
While cleaning, he opened one of the rarely used drawers. His eyes caught a folded piece of paper.
Origami.
“Huh? Why do you have a chatterbox in your desk?” he heard Nakwon’s voice to his left.
He turned to the man.
“A girl lost it. I kept it in case she came back for it.”
“Ah. Well. Seems she didn’t. You can throw it away.”
Mokhwa nodded.
And yet, he hesitated, holding the toy over the trash can.
Chatterbox.
Abandoned and picked up by him.
His own.
He quietly folded the toy and put it in his pocket.
He didn’t need to throw it away.
He didn’t quite understand why he did it. Mokhwa wasn’t sentimental.
And yet…
He thought it was nice to have his own chatterbox.
Notes:
A/N I tried to remember what i used to write in my chatterboxes and I think that was sth along the lines “you will marry John” or “you will have 3 kids”
So I asked google for ideas for and it suggested “beware of flying pizza in your dreams as it would tell you a warning. So I changed talking pizza on talking tomato and … well. The idea of eating just came to my mind 😅
WARNING!!!!
On the next chapter I have included graphic. I would call this “fanart” but there is no freaking way any fan would create sth so horrific.
So beware the possible harm fot your soul.
Know, that you have been warned.
Chapter 2: graphic
Notes:
I am really ashamed that this crime and heresy is the fisrt fanart to this fandom. 😅
So… I swear that I usually draw nicer! But I just came up with the idea “nakwon as chatterbox” – but you need to know that in my language a way to describe talkative person is “barrel organ” and it just looked ok in my imagination. But of course chatterbox in English is this werid-ass origami-fortune game. So I had to improvise.
So… I was really relustant to share this, esperially I can see that you (Yvonne) have so much of a talent (based on your pfp)
But at the same time that is too hillarous not to share this 😅

Notes:
Fun fact: i was schocked wth nakown colour palette. I always thought thet he is brown and this warm-brwon. But it tyrmes out that he is in shades of red. And his skin is more yellowish than peachy as i thought at first (thou he is korean and i should not be SO shocked over yellowity of his skin.
and his eyes: Did you know that to draw his eyes you need to use both this reddish-browns that i used for hairs, but also bright pink? Sthis sbright as on his cheeks. And complement this pink with the colour of warm carmel.
I already loed him, buk after drawing his eyes i fell in love with him over again.
