Island part two

Summary:

Summary: The story continues when Violet returns with no memory of what happened and a mysterious force threatens the island and all the survivors.

Chapter Text

Boone and Locke were in the jungle with flashlights.

“Hey, John, we’re never going to find Violet,” Boone complained in the pouring rain.

“You can go back, Boone, I’m not keeping you here.”

“Fine, I will. Toss me your flashlight, mine’s about to die.”

He nodded and tossed him the flashlight. The water made it slip out of his palms, landing on the ground. It made a clang sound.

John stopped and looked at him. “What was that?”

John and Boone towered over the strange sound. They got on their hands and knees and dug through the leaves and dirt to reveal a bullet proof window and a large metal door.

“What is this?” Boone asked.

“A secret hatch.” John replied.

“What do we do?”

“We should try to get it open.”

“I wonder what’s inside.”

“I don’t know… we could only imagine.”

The leaves rustled behind them. John quickly covered the hatch back up and got to his feet. Boone took a fighting stance getting ready for what was coming. The rustling got louder and the two guys pulled out weapons from their back pockets. The leaves moved as Violet stepped through. Her body was all beaten and bloody. She stared at them with fear before collapsing. John caught her swiftly.

“Come on, we need to get Jack,” he said.

Chapter 2

Summary:

Violet returns with no memory. A threat determines the lives of the survivors.

Chapter Text

John held Violet in his arms.

“Jack, help!” He yelled.

They walked into the caves. Jack saw Violet and put her on a flat rock they used as a table. She was unconscious. He dabbed her head with a wet cloth.

“Violet, wake up.” He said.

She opened her eyes and screamed. She rolled off the rock and crawled behind it.

“Woah, woah, woah… it’s okay.” Jack said. “It’s okay.”

“Violet…” Walt walked up to her. “It’s me.”

“Who are you?” She asked with fear.

They all looked at her in concern. Charlie took a step forward and kneeled down.

“Violet, you don’t remember us?” He asked.

“No,” she said quietly.

“What do you remember?” Hurley asked.

“Uhm…” she thought. “I was on a plane… and then…”

“Violet,” Charlie said. “We were all on that plane. It crashed on this island one month ago.”

“If it's been a month, why has no one come for us?” She asked.

They all exchanged glances of sadness.

“Uhm… that sounds like a fun story for another day.” Jack said. “Here, come with me.” He grabbed Violet’s arm and walked away with her to get her cleaned up.

“How does she not remember Ethan or anything?” Hurley asked.

“A psychopath drags her into the jungle for weeks and she doesn’t remember him?” Charlie said.

“Guys,” Jack came up to them.

“What’s up?” Hurley asked. “Any news? Does she remember anything?”

“No.”

“This doesn’t make any sense.” Charlie said.

“Look, she has been through a lot of trauma, some of it we don’t even know about when she got dragged off, it’s possible for her mind to have reset to the crash.”

Hurley and Charlie looked at each other. They looked down.

“It’ll be okay. We’ll figure this out.”

He walked away. Charlie rolled his eyes.

“How can he be so annoyingly positive right now?”

“That’s just Jack, I guess.” Hurley said.

Charlie walked through the jungle alone after Locke sent him to gather wood for tonight’s fire. He heard footsteps and quickly turned around.

“Hey, who’s there?” He yelled out.

He sighed; why was he expecting someone to answer? The footsteps grew louder and he kept still waiting for it to pass.

A stick threw past his head and he just missed it.

“Woah!” He exclaimed.

Ethan came up to him.

“Hello, Charlie.”

“Ethan?”

“Yeah,” he said. “Listen to me, I want her back.”

“What?”

“I want Violet back. I want you to bring her back to me.”

“But…”

“Charlie, I want her back.” He repeated.

“What did you do to her?” He asked.

Ethan went silent. Charlie grabbed the stick that was hurled toward his face and raised it up.

“Don’t be stupid, Charlie.”

“The only stupid thing I’m doing is not swinging this right now.”

Ethan chuckled. Charlie lunged forward. Ethan swiftly caught the stick and grabbed his throat, pinning him against a tree. Charlie struggled and tried to kick him.

“You need to bring Violet back to me. For every day that you don’t, I will kill someone. I will kill you last so you can feel the selfishness in your bones as you watch everyone die because you’re too stubborn. Do you really want that burden on you?”

He lets go of Charlie and suddenly disappears. He coughs and coughs, standing up.

“Jack!” He tries to yell, but most of it comes out as a cough.

He runs back to the caves with determination written on his face. “Jack!”

“Charlie, what’s wrong?” He asked with worry in his voice.

He looked panicked as he approached Jack. “It’s… Ethan…” he said, trying to catch his breath.

“What about Ethan?”

“He’s demanding that we return Violet to him or he will kill all of us one by one each day.”

His eyes widened in surprise.

“What should we tell the others?” Sayid asked, joining them.

“Nothing… we tell them nothing.” He said firmly.

“Why?” Charlie asked.

“If we tell them, it will cause a panic.” Sayid replied.

“Sayid’s right,” Jack agreed. “We can’t stress them out anymore. If they know Ethan is back, we don’t know what will happen.”

“How’s she doing, man?” Charlie asked Jack.

“A little shaken up but she’ll be okay.”

“We can’t just hand her over to him right?” Sayid asked.

“No, of course not.” He said. “We need to devise a plan where nobody dies and nobody gets captured.”

“I can set up some elaborate traps and some people can keep watch. We can make an alarm system.” Sayid suggested.

“Great.”

Sayid worked with Sawyer, John and Boone and they set up some alarms with cans in a bag. They rigged it with a trip wire that would make the cans fall out of the tree, creating a large sound to notify when the intruders came. Boone took the first shift. He stayed up watching the fire burn trying to stay awake but soon surrendered and fell asleep. He was awoken the next morning by the sound of the alarms. Boone darted off into the jungle. He stared at the fallen cans and grabbed a stick ready to strike.

John and Sawyer were by his side in a second.

“Boone, what happened?” Sawyer asked.

“Something tripped the alarm.” He replied.

They heard a distant scream. They ran back to the island and found a man dead on the ground. Jin and Michael were loading him into a body bag.

“I thought they had this place surrounded.” Hurley said.

“Locke said it didn’t matter. He came in through the water.” Kate said.

“Maybe he drowned?”

“No,” Kate said. “All his bones were broken and his neck was completely cracked and…”

“Okay, that’s enough.”

She patted his shoulder and walked away. Sawyer stood beside Hurley.

“Looks like old Steve kicked the bucket.” Sawyer said.

“Dude, that was Scott.” Hurley said.

Chapter 3

Summary:

Jack, Sawyer, Sayid, Boone, Kate, Violet and John go to the jungle to finally capture Ethan with unexpected results.

Notes:

very descriptive fighting and blood

Chapter Text

Jack talked to Sawyer, John, Boone, Kate and Sayid about going into the jungle and hunting down Ethan.

“I think we should use Violet as bait.” Jack said.

“We can’t do that!” Boone defended.

“We have no choice, Boone, he’s going to keep coming back. We need to come after him.” John said.

“What’s going on?” Violet asked.

“They want to use you as bait!” Boone shouted.

“I don’t remember Ethan but I know that he did a lot of bad things. I’m open to it.”

“Violet, no,” Boone said.

“Boone, we have no choice.” John said.

He stormed off and got Charlie.

“You’ll never believe it, Charlie,” he said.

“What?”

“They want to use Violet as bait to get Ethan back here so we can capture him.” He explained.

“Who?”

“Jack and them.”

“That's awful. We have to stop her.”

He ran to Jack and the others.

“Boone told me what you’re doing.” Charlie said to Sayid.

“What do you plan to do with it?” Sayid asked.

“Help you guys… I can come with you so Violet doesn’t have to.”

“Charlie, that is not an option,” Jack said. “We have six guns and we already have six people.”

“But…”

“Stop…” Violet said.

They all looked at her.

“Since yesterday, I have been getting weird looks from everybody and a guy showed up dead who I have never even met. I could have met him but I don’t remember. I don’t remember any of you and I really wished I remembered you guys because the memories before, really sucked. I don’t care if it is dangerous, we have to stop him from hurting anyone else.”

“But Violet… what if he drags you back?”

“I don’t care. I really don’t care what happens to me anymore. I’m cursed no matter what, right? I always was. I was never meant to be happy. I am going to stop Ethan and if he drags me back, at least he will be away from all of you.”

She walked away.

“At least she’s brave.” John said.

“She ain’t gettin dragged back with Ethan.” Sawyer said.

“We won’t let that happen.” Kate assured him.

“Let’s go,” Jack said, slinging a backpack over his shoulder.

They set themselves up in the jungle. It was pouring rain and they were instantly drenched. Sawyer and Kate were in a tree and Sayid was behind a bush a little further from them. Jack was up ahead hiding behind a tree as well as Locke and Boone. Violet walked into a secluded spot by herself looking nervous.

She stood in place for a while before the snap of the twigs came from behind her.

“Ethan? Is that you?” She whispered. “Please, can we just talk about this?”

He came forward with a creepy, stone cold face. He stood in place.

“I’m afraid not.”

“W…why?”

He stared at her and charged. She ran and yelled.

“Ahh!” Her heart pounded.

He lunged forward and dragged her to the ground, putting his hands on her neck pressing down hard. She fought hard, trying to kick him off as she desperately gasped for oxygen.

Jack came from behind and pushed Ethan off of her.

“Over here!” John said. “Jack’s got him.”

Jack and Ethan were in a brutal fight; both were bleeding a lot from their faces. Ethan kicked Jack and grabbed his arm, spinning him around. Jack right hooked him in the jaw, causing Ethan to fall to the ground. He jumped on Ethan and punched him multiple times, blood dripping from his face.

Jack eventually let go and stood up leaving Ethan breathing heavily on the ground. John ran to Violet’s side because she was also on the ground.

“Violet, are you okay?” He asked.

“Yeah,” she replied.

She got up and ran behind a thin tree and kept her distance from Ethan. Kate ran behind the tree to check on her.

“Are you okay?” She asked.

Violet nodded and Kate hugged her.

Ethan got on his knees and Sawyer aimed his gun at him.

“Not so fast, jungle boy.” Sawyer said.

Ethan froze while Sawyer, Jack and John aimed their guns at him.

“Easy, we want him alive.” John reminded them.

“Where is Boone?” Kate asked.

Suddenly, there were four gunshots that buried Ethan’s chest as he dropped. They looked toward where they came from and saw Charlie holding a gun.

“Charlie!” Jack yelled. “What did you do?”

“I murdered a bloody murderer.” He said.

“He could’ve told us where he came from and why he wanted Violet.”

“Did you really think he would’ve told us anything?” Charlie asked. The others stared at him. “I wasn’t going to let him anywhere near a child again.”

“Charlie, you killed somebody.” Sayid said.

“But… I killed someone that was going to kill all of us, that dragged Violet into the jungle for weeks and he hung me from a tree.” Charlie said. “I did you all a favour.”

“Charlie, how did you get that gun?”

“Boone gave it to me. He said he didn’t want to do this and told me to take care of it.” He explained.

Chapter 4

Summary:

A fight breaks out between two survivors while Sun reveals a shocking secret.

Chapter Text

The day after the previous events, Violet was sitting on the sand. Jin was fishing beside her. Even though they couldn’t understand each other, they enjoyed their company. Jin fished and grabbed the net and brought it back to shore full of fish. He allowed Violet to help gut it.

Jin stared at Michael’s wrist.

“What are you looking at?” Violet asked.

She looked and saw a bright gold watch on Michael’s wrist. She tilted her head in confusion. Jin charged at Michael and began aggressively beating him up.

“Jin, stop!” Violet yelled. She ran up to them.

Michael tried to fight back but he was powerless. The commotion caught the attention of the other survivors. They ran over trying to stop them.

“Stop!” Walt yelled. “Don’t kill him!”

Locke and Sawyer grabbed Jin’s arms and tried to keep him away from Michael. Michael stood up. He bled a little from his nose.

“What the hell is wrong with you?” He yelled in anger as Jin was getting dragged off.

“Why did he attack me?” He asked. “Did he say something to you?” He turned to Violet.

She shook her head. “I can’t understand him even if he did.”

Michael grabbed Walt’s hand and walked away while Sawyer and John handcuffed Jin to a wrecked piece of the plane.

After a few hours, Sun kneeled down beside him and gave him a drink of water. He was still handcuffed. Sayid walked up beside them.

Sun pointed to her wrist. Sayid looked at her with confusion.

“I’m sorry but we cannot let Jin go. He could still be angry and attack people again.”

She pointed to her wrist again.

“No, Sun,” he said. “I can’t.”

She looked disappointed.

Michael was in the jungle by himself when Sun walked up to him.

“Why did your husband attack me?” He asked. “I didn’t do anything wrong and you know I’m innocent in all this. Oh, what am I doing? You can’t understand me.”

“I need to talk to you,” Sun said softly.

He turned around in shock. It had seemed the world stopped as he stared at her.

“You speak English?” He asked furiously.

“Please… don’t tell.” She begged.

“Why not?”

“I don’t want my husband to know. He’s not usually like this. He used to be very kind.”

“Then why did he attack me?”

“Your watch.”

“What about my watch?” He asked.

“It doesn’t belong to you. Jin was delivering it to my father’s buyer when the plane landed. My father is a terrible person who people are terrified of. He was scared when he attacked you.”

“I should not have been attacked like that. It’s not my fault.”

“I agree with you,” Sun said. “If you have met my father, you would understand him.”

The next day, Jin was still handcuffed. Charlie grabbed an axe and cut him loose. He now had a broken handcuff on his wrist.

“Don’t attack Michael!” He said.

Jin didn’t understand and remained quiet. He stayed still as Charlie walked away.

Walt walked past him while he was fishing. Michael saw him.

“Hey, you staring at my boy?” He yelled.

Michael charged for him and shoved him to the ground.

“This what you want?” He asked, throwing his watch at Jin. “All this, over a watch?”

Jin just stared up at him.

“I thought you were weird before but now that I know you freaked out over a watch when we’re stranded on a damn island. You are even more whacked out. I know you can’t understand a word I’m saying but I want you to read my fists.”

He punched Jin to the ground, drawing blood from his nose. He grabbed his shirt collar and pulled him into a sitting position.

“Got anything to say now?”

Jin spoke Korean and Michael just got angrier.

He went back to punching him. People gathered around and watched. Jack tried to stop it but Sayid held him back.

“Easy, Doc, one fight at a time.” Sawyer said.

“But…” Jack started.

“Sawyer’s right, this is their fight.” Sayid agreed.

Michael kept punching Jin. He couldn’t fight back.

Violet ran up to them.

“Stop it!” She screamed.

She extended her arm and Michael fell back at her powers. She ran to Jin and wrapped her arms around him.

“This isn’t the way. Fighting won’t fix anything. It just makes things worse. You could have killed him.”

“You stopped me before I could.” Michael said.

“Enough. When you kill someone… you can never take it back. It will be with you for the rest of your life.”

Charlie looked down sadly.

“Please, Michael, don’t do this.” She begged.

“Fine, but he better stay away from me.” Michael said. “And you better stay away from my son. That goes for both of you.”

She nodded. She sat Jin up as best she could but he was still weak and fell onto her.

“Jin!” Sun yelled. “Are you okay?”

Everyone stared at her with shock at her revelation.

“You speak English?” Kate asked.

“Judging by the look on your man’s face, he didn’t know about your little secret either.” Sawyer sassed.

Jin stared at her with shock and frowned. Sawyer helped Jin off of Violet and helped her up too.

“Jin,” Sun said.

He ignored her and walked away.

Jin was back at the caves cleaning up the blood. Sun walked in and spoke to him in Korean. He ignored her and started to walk out of the caves.

“I was going to leave you!” Sun yelled.

He stopped and turned to her.

“I was going to get away. You made me change my mind. I love you, Jin. Please don’t do this.” She said.

Even though he didn’t understand English, he understood the look in her eyes. He walked away, leaving Sun with tears pouring down her face.

Chapter 5

Summary:

Walt and Violet talk

Chapter Text

Violet walked into the jungle to collect fruit. Walt walked toward her.

“You don’t remember me, do you?” He asked.

She jumped.

“No, I don’t.” She replied honestly.

“You told me stuff about you. Personal stuff. We were friends.”

“Then why do you look so nervous?”

“I’m not supposed to be talking to you.” He said.

“What?”

“Nothing…” he changed the subject. “What are you doing out here?”

“I want to help. I’m gathering fruit.”

“Okay, cool.” He nodded. “Let me help.”

The two of them put fruit in little baskets and took them to the tent where all the supplies were. Walt saw Michael walking along the shore. He panicked and he dove into the tent, dragging Violet in as well.

“Dude,” Violet said.

“Shh.” Walt said. “My dad is coming.”

“Is he bad?”

“What? No.”

“Then why hide?” She asked.

Her question hung in the air. He ignored it and waited for his dad to be out of sight. He then looked back at her. “Listen, I haven’t been honest with you.”

“Then be honest with me now.”

“Michael, my dad, before you lost your memory, he may have forbidden me from talking to you. He thought you were bad.”

“Do you know?” She asked.

“Know what?”

“About my powers.”

“Yeah, we all know.”

“Then he was right for making you stay away from me.”

“Don’t say that…”

She interrupted. “Everyone here avoids me. No one talks to me after what happened to Evan…”

“Ethan.”

“Who cares? He’s dead. He took me and I don’t remember anything. I remember all the bad stuff before the crash, I remember the good stuff but I don’t remember anything about this island. It’s not fair. And everyone avoids me like I have an incurable condition and they don’t have the heart to tell me I’m dying.”

“Violet…”

“No, Walt. You don’t get to just make this all okay. If you are going to push me away, I’m going to push back, harder. So leave me alone.” She walked away.

Chapter 6

Summary:

A deep dive into Hurley’s past and the cursed numbers.

Hurley tries to track down Danielle with Violet’s help.

Chapter Text

Hurley sat at home watching tv with his bucket of fried chicken. He held his lottery ticket in the palm of his hand as he watched the tv. He wasn’t that interested, he mostly just did it for fun.

The tv announced the numbers on the screen: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, and… 42.

Hurley looked down and saw the numbers in his hand and realized they were the same. He stood up and started to breathe heavily until he collapsed. He woke up to his mother slapping his face.

“Hugo!” She yelled. “Your heart is dying. It’s because of the stupid chicken. All you eat is chicken.”

“I’m fine, Ma.” He assured her. “I was just surprised.”

Hurley walked through the jungle. His eyes landed upon the hatch where John and Boone were hunched over.

“Hurley…” Boone said.

“Uhm…” he started to say.

“What are you doing here?” John asked.

“What is this?” He pointed at the hatch.

“It’s a hatch.” John replied. “This needs to be a secret.”

“Okay,” he agreed. “But what are you trying to do?”

“We’re trying to open it.” Boone explained.

He looked at the hatch and noticed a small set of numbers. It was the numbers: 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42. His eyes widened.

“Hurley? Are you okay?” John asked.

He blinked and stepped back. “Fine.”

He walked away.

He was on the beach talking to Sayid. He desperately felt that he needed information.

“Sayid, where did you say the French woman was?” He asked.

“Danielle? Uhm… I don’t know.”

“How could you not know?”

“Hurley… I didn’t see her. I got strung up in a net and woke up in the middle of the jungle on a table.” He explained.

“Oh… well how did you get strung up?”

“Why are you curious about her?”

“I just want to know, man.”

He nodded. “Alright, I followed a rope in the sand. It’s hard to find. It's hidden.”

“Thanks,” he walked away.

He packed a backpack full of water bottles, food and a single knife that he stole from Locke. Violet walked in and saw him sitting by the caves.

“What are you doing?” She asked him.

“Nothing…” he said.

“I heard you interrogating Sayid about the French woman.” She said in a quiet voice. “So why don’t you tell me what you’re up to.”

“I’m not up to anything.” He lied.

“Are you trying to find her?”

“Yes,” he replied. “Okay? Yes! I want to find her. She can help me.”

“Hurley, tell me what’s going on?”

He sighed. “The numbers are bad. Nobody believes me and I need to stop this before someone gets hurt.”

“I’ll come with you.”

“No!” He said quickly.

She looked at him with surprise. “W…what?”

“I’m sort of… cursed.”

“So am I. It’s okay. You can’t do this alone.”

“Alright,” he nodded. “Come on. I could actually use your powers to help me find the rope.”

They walked for a while.

“You know you told me stuff. After a few days of us getting here, you told me what happened to your family. I know you don’t remember that but I thought you shouldn’t know that I know.”

“So you know… about the fire?” She asked.

He nodded. The silence lasted a few more minutes.

“I didn’t mean to.”

“What?”

“The fire. I was upset and angry that my father would dare show his face. I… released too much anger. He used that opportunity to take me.”

“Wait, I thought your father started that fire.”

“No,” she said softly. “It was me. I’m the monster, Hurley. I’m the one you should fear. I’m cursed.”

“Having power doesn’t make you a monster, it just makes you a target.”

“That’s true.” She agreed.

Flashback:

Hurley held his lottery ticket proudly. He had kept it a secret for many hours and didn’t know how much longer he could go. He decided to spend it and buy the chicken restaurant he worked at after his boss treated him badly.

He and his buddy walked outside to load up some stuff in the van. Just then, a huge meteor exploded and crashed into the restaurant and burned it to the ground while the news reporters were still inside.

“Dude, what the…” he couldn’t finish his sentence.

After that, his house burned down and his grandfather died all in a few days. He went to a mental institution in search of his friend.

“Hey, Lenny,”

“Four, eight, fifteen, sixteen, twenty-three, forty-two.” Lenny mumbled those numbers again and again.

“Lenny,” he tried to get his attention.

“Twenty-three, forty-two.” Lenny muttered.

“I won the lottery and those numbers were stuck in my head so I played them. Since then, I can’t stop having bad luck… it’s like I’m…”

“You played those numbers?” Lenny asked.

Hurley nodded.

“You shouldn’t have done that. The numbers are bad!” He stood up, angry and panicked. “The numbers are bad!” He yelled.

Some people in white came out and took him away before Hurley could finish questioning him.

The numbers were bad. Hurley repeated that over and over in his head.

Hurley and Violet continued to walk through the sand and Hurley reached a small lump in the ground.

“Here.” He said.

He reached his hand in and couldn’t pull anything out.

Violet stuck her hand out. “Back up,” She said.

Her hand shook and the gray rope lifted into the air allowing Hurley to grab it. He grazed his hands along it and followed it trying to find where it was leading him.

They followed the rope and it led them into the jungle that was attached to a net.

“Woah, woah, stop.” He stopped Violet from walking further.

There was a trap in the tree with huge spikes that were triggered by the net.

“Don’t move.” He warned.

They stood perfectly still. They looked around at the safe area which was a couple feet away.

“How do we get over there?” Violet asked.

“I think I can make it,”

“Hurley… no!”

He stepped off the net and ran to the other side. The spikes started to come down. Violet stuck her hands out and stopped it midair; floating in the air. She was still on the net holding her hands up. The spikes were still floating. She dropped her hands and the spikes fell to the ground.

She walked off the net.

“That was dumb.”

“Maybe so, but it worked.” Hurley said.

Click!

“Who are you?” A woman asked.

They turned around and there was a gun pointed at them. They put their hands up.

“Are you Danielle?” Hurley asked. “Sayid saw you once.”

“Yes, he did.” She nodded. “What do you want?”

“I came to ask you about the numbers.”

“The numbers?”

“Yes, the numbers…” he said. “I know you know what they are.”

“So what is your question?”

“Do you think… it’s possible that the numbers are cursed?” He asked.

She thought about it for a while. “Uhm… yes.”

“Really?”

“Yes. The numbers bring sadness and darkness. I suppose they are… cursed.”

Hurley's eyes welled with tears.

“Why do you cry?” Danielle asked.

“I’m happy. Someone finally believes me. Someone finally believes me about the numbers.”

Danielle lowered her gun. Violet and Hurley put down their hands. He was finally relieved that someone believed him about the numbers. Someone finally agreed that the numbers were bad.

Chapter 7

Summary:

Boone and John discover a plane in the jungle.

Chapter Text

Sayid quickly bombarded Hurley with questions when he returned two days later. Hurley lied and told them he had not found anything and dragged Violet into it all. He told them he wanted to find Danielle and ask her if they should borrow a few more guns.

“What did she say?” Jack asked.

“I didn’t find her. I’m sorry I just took off.” He said, still lying.

“It’s fine,” Jack said. “But next time, tell us. We could’ve gone with you.

Hurley nodded in understanding and walked away freely.

John and Boone walked through the jungle in search of something to help them open the hatch. It had been many nights and countless days of wondering what was inside. They had unlimited guesses but no answers. They had spent forever trying to get it open with no use.

“What are we missing here?” Boone asked.

“I don’t know.” John said.

He was getting frustrated and Boone had never seen him like this before.

“Locke, calm down. We’ll get it open.” Boone said.

John nodded and stepped back.

“We need something to break the glass.” John said.

“Okay, okay, let’s find some things.” Boone suggested.

Boone returned to find Locke in a tree. He handed him a giant branch and he dropped it right above the glass. It came crashing down and hit the glass, but didn’t even crack it.

“No!”

“Crap!” Boone said.

“How did that not break?”

“I don’t know. This doesn’t make any sense.”

“Well maybe it’s for the best.”

“Woah, you’re just going to give up?” John asked him.

“We don’t know anything about this hatch. We don’t know what’s down there or how it is going to help us. Seriously, John, open your eyes. What do you think is down there? What are you so desperate to find? What are you waiting for?”

He stayed quiet for a few seconds before speaking. “Hope.”

Boone sighed and nodded. “Alright, we’ll keep trying.” He reluctantly agreed.

They walked out further into the jungle and saw a small orange plane smashed into a cliff. It didn’t fall but it didn’t look stable either.

“Holy shit, what is that?” Boone asked.

“I believe it is a plane.” Locke replied.

They stared up at it from the ground. They were in awe of its presence.

“Wait, what is this?” Boone asked.

He grabbed a small bag on the ground containing brown powder.

“That’s heroin.” John replied. “Don’t let Charlie see that. He might be tempted.”

“Charlie is a drug addict?”

“He’s recovering, yes.”

“Oh, I had no idea.”

“He hid it well.”

Boone nodded. “Guess so.”

“Boone, climb up there and see if there is a radio.” John said.

“Why can’t you do it?”

“I’m old. I weigh too much.”

Boone rolled his eyes but climbed up the cliff. He carefully lowered himself into the plane. He had the body of a strong lifeguard and had much more upper body strength than Locke.

He saw the plane full of Virgin Mary statues disguised to hide the heroin inside them. He went to the front of the plane and it started to tip.

“Boone, get out of there!” John yelled.

His voice remained unheard. Boone grabbed the radio and called into it. “Mayday, mayday. We are survivors of the crash 815. Please copy.” He repeated multiple times.

Violet walked up to John who was on the ground staring at the plane.

“John?”

“Violet, what are you doing here?”

“I was practicing my knife throwing skills into a tree. Where is Boone?”

“Boone would be in there.” He pointed to the plane.

“It’s going to fall.” She whispered.

“What?”

She stared at the plane as it tipped a little more.

“Boone!” She screamed.

He poked his head out of the window.

“Violet?”

“Get out of there, now!” She demanded.

“Hold on.” He said going back inside.

It started to tip, causing him to go head first into the control panel. Violet stuck her hands out and used her powers to keep the plane in place. It began to over power her and start to fall. She tried to freeze it mid air and for the most part it worked. Her body was growing tired, her nose began to bleed, her head rushed with pain.

“Ahhh!” She yelled, trying harder than she ever has to keep the plane from falling.

The plane, once again, overpowered her and came crashing down with Boone inside. Violet stepped back, her body now weak.

“No,” she said, falling to her knees.

“Boone!” John called. He rushed over. “Violet, no matter what happens, don’t tell anyone about what you saw today. Don’t tell anyone what this plane is or what it was carrying.”

“Okay, I promise. Just get him out of there.” She begged.

John rushed over to the plane and broke the window, pulling Boone out of it. He was covered in blood and huge scrapes. He was barely breathing and barely conscious.

Chapter Text

Locke walked Boone back to the caves. He was covered in blood and huge gashes that ripped his shirt and tore it apart.

“Help!” Locke yelled.

Jack rushed to him and grabbed him and laid him on the table. He grabbed rags and tried to stop the bleeding.

“John, what happened?”

“He fell off a cliff.” John said. “I gotta go.”

“What, where?” Jack asked.

“Uhm… I left Violet by the cliff.”

“Is she okay?”

“Yeah,” he said, running out.

“Wait, Locke!” Jack yelled in anger.

He was mad because he didn’t have too much information about what happened to Boone.

Boone was laying on the table getting treated by Jack while Sun was assisting him. Boone was unconscious and Jack didn’t know how to save him.

“What is his blood type?” Sun asked.

“I don’t know,” Jack sighed. “We can’t ask him because even if he does wake up, he’ll be in shock.”

Sun put a cloth to his bleeding shoulder. “How do we fix this?”

“I need to find out his blood type and see if we can get someone to put their blood in him.” He explained.

Boone woke up and was shaking a little.

“Boone, listen to me, okay? What is your blood type?” Jack asked.

“A… negative.” He whispered.

“Did you hear that, Sun? A negative.”

She nodded.

“Go get Charlie,” Jack said.

Sun ran to find Charlie and brought him back to the caves.

“What’s up?”

“I need your help. I need you to ask everyone for their blood type.”

“What?”

“Just listen. In order to save Boone, I need A negative blood. So please ask people.”

He nodded, grabbing a small notepad and sprinting out of the caves.

Claire was in the jungle grabbing a tree and holding her stomach. Violet walked through the jungle, coming back from the plane accident. She stopped when she saw Claire.

“Claire?”

“Ow,” she winced in pain.

Violet ran over to her and pressed her hand to her stomach.

“Your baby is coming.”

“What? No!” Claire said.

“It’s true,” she said.

“No, it can’t, I'm not ready. I’m not having a baby, okay?”

Violet led her over to a log and sat her down.

“I don’t know how to deliver a baby.”

“Ahhh! Ow!” Claire yelled. “Violet, please get Jack.”

“I can’t leave you here.”

She turned around and screamed into the jungle. “Help! Help! Please!”

She screamed for two minutes straight. Jin came into the jungle and faced them.

“Jin.” She sighed in relief. “We need Jack, okay?”

“Jack,” he repeated. “Doctor.”

“Yes, yes, doctor. Go get him.”

He ran back to the caves and stared at Jack.

“Jack, doctor,” he repeated.

“What’s wrong, Jin?”

He spoke Korean and everyone shook their heads, not understanding him. Sun stood there with wide eyes.

“What’s he saying?” Charlie asked.

“Claire is in labour and she’s with Violet in the jungle right now.” Sun said.

Jin’s eyes looked down. He was trying to avoid eye contact with Sun after her secret was revealed.

“Okay, get Kate. Charlie and Jin go help Claire deliver the baby.”

“You’re not coming?” Charlie asked.

“I can’t. Tell Claire to start pushing when the contractions are less than 60 seconds apart. When the bay is out, clear its nose and mouth.”

He nodded.

“Wait, Charlie, the notepad. Did you find anyone with A negative blood?”

“I found one AB negative, Three A positives and one O positive.”

“You only asked five people?”

“I asked the whole bloody camp. No one knows their blood type. I don’t know my bloody blood type.” Charlie said.

“Did you find any O negatives?”

“I thought you said we needed A negative.”

“O negative can work too,” Jack said. “I’m O negative.”

“You’re going to pour your blood into him?” Sun asked.

“I have to. Charlie, go deal with the labour.”

“On it,” he took off.

He met up with Kate and Jin in the jungle and saw Claire and Violet.

“Claire!” Charlie said.

“Ahhh! Where’s Jack?” She asked through winces of pain.

“I’m sorry, he’s not coming.”

“What?” Kate asked.

“You need to deliver this baby, Kate."

“What? No, I can't deliver a baby.”

“It’s okay, you can do this.”

“You have to do this, Kate, please,” Claire begged, sweat pouring down from her forehead.

“Okay.”

“Ah!” Claire yelled.

Violet dropped to her knees.

“Hey, are you okay?” Charlie asked.

She looked up and stood up.

“What is Jack doing?”

“He’s putting some blood in Boone’s body to save him.” Charlie explained.

“No!” She yelled.

“What?” What’s wrong?”

“He’s going to die.” She ran through the way they all came, desperate to get back to the caves.

Kate looked back at Claire.

“It’s time to push.”

Claire closed her eyes and began pushing, screaming. Charlie and Jin stood a respectful distance away, crouching behind a rock.

Boone was on the table. Sun ripped the tube from Jack’s arm.

“What are you doing?” Jack asked.

“You’ve given him enough blood.” She said.

Boone regained consciousness. He stared at Jack.

“Are you okay?”

“Guess I busted up myself pretty bad.”

“Yeah, Locke said you fell from a cliff.”

“No, I fell from a plane that was on a cliff.”

“Wait, what?”

“Locke said not to tell… about the hatch.”

“Wait, what hatch?”

He didn’t respond.

“Boone,”

He looked at Jack again. “I’m going to die, right?”

“No, I’m not gonna let that happen.”

“It’s okay. Just stop. Just let me go.”

“But Boone…”

“Please, Jack, I’ll be okay, it’s time.”

He closed his eyes. Jack put his hands on his eyes as tears poured out of him like a waterfall. Boone’s last breath left his lungs.

Violet ran into the caves and saw him dead.

Claire walked to the sand holding her baby in a blanket. Everyone gathered around to see it.

“This is my son, Aaron.” She announced.

Aaron looked really small and healthy. He was fast asleep as most babies were at that age.

Shannon walked next to Sayid. Jack walked up to them with his hands all bloody about to break the news.

“Is everything okay?” She asked him, noticing his expression.

Violet, Sawyer and Charlie walked up beside Jack.

“Boone fell off a cliff and got really hurt. I’m sorry I wasn’t able to…”

He was interrupted by Violet’s screams.

“He’s dead! He’s dead! I didn’t get him to safety! I did this! I knew… and I didn't do anything!”

Her voice was panicked and terrified.

Sayid grabbed her arms as she thrashed around. Sawyer helped take her away from the crowd.

Shannon looked devastated. “My brother died?”

Jack nodded. “I’m sorry.”

She lowered her head and simply walked away.

trauma

Chapter Text

The others had a ceremony for Boone. All of them stood there as they buried him. Claire held her baby with sadness. Sayid was the speaker of his death because he and Shannon had gotten close the past few days.

“I did not know Boone very well, for that I am sorry,” he said. “When Violet was drowning, he was the first one in the water. When John Locke needed help hunting, he was the first to volunteer. He was a good man. He died a hero.”

The others hung their heads in sadness.

“It was my fault.” A voice said from behind.

They turned and saw Locke standing there, his white shirt stained with Boone’s blood.

“We found an orange plane and I was too heavy, so he went in to try and get a signal. But the plane tipped… and he fell. I wish I got him out of there sooner, but he couldn’t hear me.”

The others stared at him with wide eyes full of shock and anger.

How could he be that selfish? Shannon wondered.

“I’m so sorry, everyone. Violet and I tried to get him out..” Locke said.

“Shut up!” Violet yelled, stunning everyone. “Don’t drag me into this. I feel bad enough.”

“Sorry,” he said.

He walked back to the caves to clean up his shirt. Walt followed him in.

“Did you really see him fall?” He asked.

“Yes, I did,” John nodded.

“You could've saved him, but you failed. You destroyed everything.”

“I’m sorry, Walt.”

“What was so important about that plane?”

“Nothing, just the radio. We thought we could be rescued.”

“But you don’t want to be rescued.”

John sighed. “I know. I would never take that away from everyone else though.”

“How come? You had no problem taking Boone away.”

Walt left and John dabbed a cloth, wiping the blood off himself.

Sayid had finished burying Boone and carved his name into a stick and stuck it above his grave to mark it. Shannon just sat on the sand. Locke went over to her and sat beside her. She didn’t dare look at him.

“Shannon, I wanted to apologize to you.” He said sincerely.

“Can I ask you a question?” She asked.

He nodded.

“You guys have been out there hunting for days and you haven’t found anything…”

“So what’s your question?” He asked.

“Were you really hunting? Or are you lying to everyone?”

He hesitated. The real reason they didn’t catch food was because they were trying to open the hatch. He felt that the truth wouldn’t be so helpful to Shannon.

“We were hunting,” he lied. “Boar is hard to find. It’s no surprise they could’ve traveled west of the island.”

She nodded.

A few hours later, everyone was still grieving, but still trying to help out.

Violet was standing on the sand when she got this weird feeling. She looked around and wandered into Sawyer’s tent. She started digging through his suitcases.

“Hey, what do you think you’re doing?” Sawyer asked angrily.

Sayid came over and watched. She kept digging and found a silver briefcase.

“Hey, stop!” Sawyer demanded.

Violet ignored him. She tried to get it open, but it was locked.

“I got the key, sweetheart,” he sassed. “Why don’t you tell me why you need it so bad.”

She looked at it and then it flew open.

“Hey, dammit, listen to me.”

She looked inside it and saw the guns.

“What’s wrong?” Sayid asked.

“Weren’t there five guns?” She asked.

“Yeah.” Sawyer looked and only saw four.

“What happened to the other one?” Sayid asked.

She grabbed her head in pain. She saw Shannon holding the gun, running through the jungle. Violet blinked.

“Violet, what happened?”

“It’s Shannon, she’s going after John.”

The two ran through the jungle and stopped when they saw Shannon holding the gun pointed at Locke. He stood there with his hands up.

“She doesn’t believe it was an accident, guys,” Locke said.

“It wasn’t. He’s not stupid. You did this!”

“Shannon, nobody blames you, nobody blames Boone.” Violet said.

“Of course not, I blame him.”

“It was an accident, I was there. It was my fault.”

“What?” She turned her head to look at the kid.

“The plane started to fall and your brother was going to fall too so I used my powers to hold the plane up as long as I could. But I failed and I got overpowered. Locke didn’t make Boone go up there, that was his choice, but I did make him fall on accident.”

She stared at Violet, not saying a word.

“Don’t shoot him. Shoot me.”

“What?” Sayid said.

“Why would I do that?” Shannon asked.

“I did this. I’m to blame for all of it. I got most of my memories back. Only after the crash though, I still don’t know who Ethan is. That’s not important. My life sucks. I hate everything I do. Why did I keep a secret about my memories? Because I’m a liar and a coward. If killing him will make you feel better, then turn it on me. I won’t stop you.”

“Violet stop,” Sayid said. “Shannon, once you do this, you can’t take it back. You have to live with it for the rest of your life.”

“I can live with this.”

“This is not what Boone would want for you. Remember when I said, he died a hero? It’s true. Heroes don’t murder.”

“I’m not a hero.”

“Shannon, please… this won’t solve anything.”

“He’s right,” Violet said. “It won’t bring Boone back. It’ll just have two people dead and one of them will be your fault. Are you okay with that blood on your hands?”

Sayid softly started to approach, careful not to get noticed.

“I’m okay with that,” she replied.

“Then why haven’t you pulled the trigger yet?”

The silence was undeniable. Sayid jumped on her as she pulled the trigger and tackled her to the ground, prying the gun out of her hands. Violet held her hand out as the bullet soared through the air and stopped it midair, inches from Locke’s forehead. Locke grabbed it with his fingertips and dropped it to the ground.

“Ahhh!” Shannon struggled. She got up.

“Shannon, please,” Sayid begged.

“Go to hell.” She said in rage.

She stormed off and left the other three standing there.

“Is everyone okay?” Sayid asked.

“Yeah,” Locke said.

Violet nodded. “Yes.”

“What was that back there?” Sayid asked her.

“What do you mean?”

“You almost got killed.”

“So did John.”

“Violet, we both know that you don’t care about John Locke that much.”

“Yeah, but I care about myself even less.”

“Kid… I…” he started.

“No, okay? I get it. I understand. Everyone pretends to be my parents here except for Michael who would love it if I dropped dead. I’m not your kid, okay? I’m eleven and you're what? Forty-five?”

He nodded.

“Leave me alone, okay? I’m not your kid. I am no one’s kid.”

“I just don’t want you to get hurt.”

“If you haven’t noticed, it is extremely hard for me to get hurt here, apparently.” She said. “See you around.”

Chapter Text

Walt woke up and walked around, stretching his legs. He was the first one in the camp to get up. He saw a woman with thick, curly, messy brown hair. She was walking through the trees and their eyes locked.

Walt’s eyes went wide and he ran back to the others. “Dad! Someone’s here!”

Everyone got up and they looked at the woman. Sawyer and Jack stood in the front.

“Calm down, everyone, I know her.” Sayid said. He ran to stand in front of her. He put his hands up showing that he wasn’t a threat. “This is the French woman. Danielle, what are you doing here?”

“I came to warn you,” she replied.

“Warn us about what?” Kate asked.

“The Others are coming…”

They all stood in silence.

“What can we do?” Jack asked her.

“Nothing.”

“Nothing?” Charlie asked.

“The Others know where you are and they can be anywhere at any time. This is their island. You have only three choices: Run, hide or die.”

Sawyer huffed and kicked a rock into the ocean.

“Sawer, calm down,” Kate said. “We can figure this out. We have to hide everybody.”

“But where?” Michael asked.

“I have no idea.” Sayid said.

“Dynamite…” Danielle whispered.

“What?”

“Dynamite,” she repeated.

“There is dynamite on the island?” Claire asked, holding her baby.

“Yes. At the Black Rock.”

“What is the Black Rock?” Kate asked.

“It is a place… deep in the jungle… it has dynamite.”

“You’ll take us to it?” Jack asked.

She nodded. “Small group. Five others with me.”

“Got it,” Jack said. “I’ll go, Kate, John…”

“I’ll go too.” Hurley said.

“Last one,” Danielle looked at all of them.

“Me.” Sayid offered.

“No. Dynamite that has been in one hundred degree heat sweats dangerous things that make it very delicate. We need her.” She pointed to Violet. “We need the girl with powers.”

Violet looked down.

“Come with us.” Danielle pleaded.

“Okay,” she agreed.

They walked through the jungle and followed Danielle for hours.

Sayid and Charlie were investigating Boone’s death and the plane that Locke told them about the night before.

“Locke told you about the plane accident?” Charlie asked.

“Yes, last night.”

They looked at the big orange plane that crashed onto the ground. Virgin Mary statues spilled out of the cockpit and in front of them.

“How come you’re showing me this?” Charlie asked him.

“I thought you could help me figure out some clues about his death.”

“What clues?”

He shrugged.

They looked around for a little longer and Sayid held up the statue.

“Why are you so interested in that thing, anyway?” Charlie asked.

“I was curious as to why these men were crossing the pacific. I was curious as to why they were so determined to deliver these drugs. They seemed very anxious to get there.”

“Wait, drugs?”

“These men were drug runners. The plane is loaded with heroin but well hidden.”

He smashed it to the ground and the three little brown bags fell out. Charlie stared at it. His temptation was screaming, but he held himself back in front of Sayid.

“There is nothing here, let’s go back.” Sayid said.

They started to walk back. Charlie grabbed a small bag and shoved it in his pocket.

Danielle led Locke, Hurley, Jack, Kate and Violet to the Black Rock which was just a big shipwrecked boat.

“Here,” she started to leave.

“Wait, where are you going?” John asked.

“I said I will take you to the Black Rock, I did not say I would stay.”

“But why not?” Jack asked.

“Good luck.” She left with questions unanswered.

“Alright, John and I will go inside and bring the dynamite trunk out.” Jack said.

“We’ll wait here.” Kate sat down on a log.

He nodded and entered the ship. He and Locke carefully held the trunk between their fingers, walking very slowly to set it on the ground.

“We should only take three. One for safety.” John suggested.

“Agreed.”

They opened the trunk to reveal the red sticks with white sweat stains.

“Alright, Violet, you’re up.” John said.

She nodded. “Where will I be putting them down?”

“Carefully… in our backpacks.” Jack opened his, as did Locke and Kate.

“Put one in each of ours.” Jack said.

“Why am I here?” Hurley asked.

“You’re going to wrap the dynamite when it’s in our packs to keep it from sweating more.”

He nodded.

“Alright, let’s do this.”

“Everyone step back a bit,” Kate told the others.

Violet held her hand out. One stick carefully levitated and she floated it to Locke’s backpack. She set it in and Hurley covered it with a wet cloth.

“Next one.” Jack said.

She levitated the next one and safely put it in Kate's backpack. She levitated the last one and held it in the air. A loud sound came from the jungle. It was the same screech of the monster they had heard before. She kept her grip, keeping it afloat in the air.

“Violet, don’t move.” Kate yelled.

“No shit,” she mumbled.

She bent her arm back and threw it, causing the stick to be thrown straight at the monster. A loud boom echoed through the trees, making them all fall down.

“Is everyone okay?” Jack asked.

“Yeah,” Hurley replied.

“What do we do about the dynamite?” Violet asked.

“There are two sticks left.” John assured her.

“We can’t honestly fight like this.”

“She’s right, I doubt the dynamite will make it back to the camp in one piece. We can’t risk everyone's safety.” John said.

“You’re just going to give up?” Jack asked.

“I’m giving up on the dynamite, I never gave up protecting everyone. Giving up the dynamite will do that.”

“Okay, let’s just destroy them. Can you do that?” Jack asked her.

She nodded. She held her hands out and the dynamite didn’t blow up, but instead it disintegrated into dust.

Chapter 11

Summary:

Claire has an accident and Sayid and Charlie try to fix it.

Chapter Text

Danielle returned later in the afternoon and walked up to Claire's tent.

“Can I help you?” Claire asked, setting her baby down in the small wooden crib.

“Where is Sayid?” Danielle asked.

“He’s still out in the jungle with Charlie.”

“Is that your baby?”

“Uh… yeah,” Claire said.

“May I hold him?”

She hesitated and looked at Aaron. She picked him up. Danielle held her arms out as Claire set Aaron down in her arms.

“He is very cute.”

“Thank you, Danielle,” Claire said. “Why did you need Sayid so bad?”

She didn’t answer.

Claire woke up with Sun holding her bleeding head with a cloth. She was dazed and her eyes were all out of focus. Charlie and Sayid appeared by her side.

“Claire, Claire, look at me.” Charlie said.

“What?” she asked, still out of it.

“Claire, Claire. What happened?” Sayid asked.

“Did she take my baby?” Claire asked.

“What, who?” Charlie asked.

“Danielle,” she replied.

She grabbed her head and held the cloth to her own head.

“Why would she take a baby?” Charlie asked Sayid.

Sayid’s face looked nervous and he put a hand to his forehead.

“I think I know,” he said. “I mean I think Danielle wants to replace the baby she lost with Aaron.”

“Oh my gosh,” Charlie replied in a quiet voice. “Come on, we need to get him back.”

“Charlie, just be careful. Don’t let your emotions cloud your judgement. Remember Ethan?”

“I killed a murderer.” Charlie said.

“I know, Charlie, I’m just saying. Danielle is a woman who lost her child just like Claire.”

“I understand. I won’t hurt her, I’ll just get Danielle back.”

Sayid nodded.

Sayid and Charlie ventured off into the jungle and followed her path with footprints. There was a small lit torch beside a tree.

“Danielle, stop,” Sayid ordered.

Danielle was holding Aaron who was wrapped in a blanket fast asleep. She turned back to look at them.

“I have to,” she said, her voice ringing with panic.

“You don’t.” Charlie said, approaching carefully.

“The Others, they are after a boy.” Danielle said.

“What do you mean?” Sayid asked her.

“I overheard them. They were talking about a boy. They are after a boy. I have to get my Alex back.”

“Danielle, that was 16 years ago,” Sayid said. “Alex is a teenager by now.”

“I know but I can still get her back.”

“But… this isn’t right. You can’t take a child. It’s not right.” Charlie said.

He points his gun at her. Sayid grabbed it and lowered it.

“Don’t.” Sayid said. He turned back to Danielle. “Danielle, give me the baby, okay?”

She hesitated, staring back at the baby.

“Okay.” Danielle handed Charlie the baby.

“Danielle, it will be okay. You need to find a different way to get Alex back.” Sayid suggested.

“I know. I will.” she said.

She disappeared into the trees. Sayid and Charlie walked back to the beach and gave Claire back her son.

Chapter 12

Summary:

An insight into Danielle’s past.

Sawyer tries to get Violet to help build the raft.

Chapter Text

Danielle was on the boat with her newborn baby in her arms. The baby, Alex, was born a week ago. She had six crew members on her boat. There was a man named Henry who was married to Sarah. Then there was Sarah’s older sister, Amanda and her teenage son, Steven. Finally there were another couple named Dennis and Mia.

The boat was going to go forward to a giant rock.

“Dennis! Watch out!” Danielle yelled.

He grabbed the wheel and turned it but it was too late, the boat crashed into the rock and instantly started filling up with water. They all were thrown off the boat and swam to shore. Alex was in Danielle’s arms not crying.

“Is she okay?” Mia asked.

“Yeah, Alex is fine.” Danielle replied.

They had been on the island for 6 weeks. Danielle saw everyone looking off.

“Danielle,” Sarah said. “Are you okay?”

“Are you?” Danielle asked.

“Why are you asking me that?”

“You are sick.” Danielle replied. “The island is making you sick.”

“What?” Sarah asked, confused.

Danielle set her baby down in the grass and she loaded a gun.

“What are you doing?” Sarah asked.

She pointed the gun at her.

“I told you, you’re sick.” Danielle whispered.

She shot her in the stomach. Sarah didn’t even scream.

“What the hell happened?” Steven asked, running to them.

Sarah was dead at his feet and he looked shocked and upset when he saw his aunt lying motionless on the ground.

“What did you do?” Steven asked Danielle.

“She was sick.”

“What do you mean?” Steven asked her.

“The island infected her.”

“Danielle, just take a deep breath okay? And put the gun down.”

She aimed it at him. “I have to be safe. You have it too.” She shot him and he dropped.

She grabbed a stick of dynamite and went back to the shore. She looked at Dennis, Mia and Henry and threw the dynamite at him. It blew up.

She ran into the jungle to grab Alex and saw Amanda holding her baby. She was on her knees crying, looking at her son’s body.

“Amanda,” Danielle said.

“Danielle! You are a monster!”

“I saved his life before he destroyed someone else’s.”

“You’re not getting your baby after you took away mine.”

“You took away my son so I have to get your daughter away from you. You’re a monster.”

“I had to, he was infected by the island.”

“You didn’t have to,” she cried.

“Give me my child!” Danielle demanded.

“No.” Amanda remained firm. She was determined to keep Alex away from a murderer like Danielle.

Suddenly, they were surrounded by voices. They couldn’t see them though.

“Give us the child.” A deep voice said.

“No,” Amanda said.

The Others in the jungle grabbed Alex in a heartbeat and ran off with her.

“No! Danielle screamed.

She aimed the gun at Amanda having no way of tracking The Others. She shot her.

Amanda was dead and Alex was missing. Everyone and everything was gone.

Back on the island, Michael was hammering on the raft he started building to escape the island. Sawyer and Jin were helping him because they were also wanting to go off the island with him. It only would be able to fit Sawyer, Michael, Jin, Walt and one more passenger.

“We need more help with this.” Michael said.

“Why don’t we ask the kid?” Sawyer suggested.

“My son?”

“No, the other kid.” Sawyer replied. “I think with her powers we can get done much faster.”

“Maybe, go ask her.”

“Why me?”

“I don’t know.” Michael said. “She hates me.”

Sawyer sighed and put down his hammer. He walked over to Violet who was sitting on the sand helping Claire and Kate fill up water bottles.

“Hey,” Sawyer said.

“What do you want, Sawyer?” Kate asked.

“Careful, Freckles, I’m just trying to talk.”

“About what?” she asked.

“Well this ain’t about you.” He turned to Violet. “I was hoping that you could help us build the raft.”

“Why?”

“If you help us, you can get a free pass off the island. There is room for one more passenger.”

“I have no intention of leaving but I’ll help.”

“Great, come with me.”

The two of them go to the raft.

“Hey Violet,” Michael said.

“You talk to me now?” she asked him.

“Yes,” he said. “I’m sorry about all that.”

She looked at him but remained silent. Sawyer crossed his arms as he saw Violet raise her hand. The stick levitated and fell perfectly into Jin’s arms. He and Michael tied it to the raft.

Chapter 13

Summary:

John tries to open the hatch and gets some help.

Chapter Text

John struggled opening the hatch still. It had been haunting his dreams and wanted nothing more than to open it. He looked at it with a mix of anger, frustration and determination. He pounded his fists on the unbreakable glass.

Walt heard the commotion and he came into the jungle. He saw Locke angry for the first time.

“John?” Walt asked.

John looked up at him. “Walt, what are you doing out here?”

“What is that?” Walt asked, pointing to the hatch.

“Don’t tell anyone about this.” Locke said. “Help me open this.”

Walt kneeled down and started pulling the door handle with Locke, but it didn’t work. John slammed his fist into the glass.

“Maybe I can get Violet.” Walt suggested.

“Why?” He looked at him in confusion.

“She has powers. Maybe she can open the hatch.”

John thought about it and eventually nodded. “Go get her.”

Walt sped out of the jungle and onto the sand. His dad, Jin, Violet and Sawyer were building the raft still. Violet lifted up a vine and tied it around to hold it in place against the base of the raft.

Walt ran up to her. “Violet,” he said out of breath.

“Are you okay?” She asked.

“Yeah,” he nodded. “Locke needs your help. Can you come with me?”

“What’s wrong?”

“Nothing. We can’t tell you. You just have to trust me.”

She nodded. “Okay.”

She followed him in the jungle and found Locke standing by the hatch door.

“What is that thing?”

“Violet, good, you’re here.” John said. “Do you think you can open this?”

She stared at it. “Maybe.”

They both stepped back. Violet got closer to it. She held her hand out and pointed it at the hatch. She winced in pain. The door started to shake as blood came out her mouth. She kept her focus locked on the hatch. With a pained scream, the glass shattered before them.

Their eyes went wide. Walt caught Violet and kept her steady before she passed out from exhaustion. She stared at the glass and Locke came over, wiping the blood with his sleeve.

“Are you okay?” He asked her.

“I’m okay,” she replied.

“Thank you for shattering the glass.”

“Anytime,” she smiled.

Chapter Text

The big day arrived; it was time for the five of them to set sail off the island. Jack went to the raft as did all of the survivors. It was time to say their goodbyes.

Jack hugged Michael and Jin. He patted Walt on the head. He shook hands with Sawyer. He went to Violet.

“Thank you for stitching me up on the first day we came here.” He said.

“Thank you for being nice to me. I know I’m strange, but thanks anyway.” She replied.

Jack stuck out his hand to shake hers. She looked at his hand and then hugged him. He hugged her back.

“Take care of yourself, okay?” Jack said.

“I will.”

They spent a while hugging and saying goodbyes to all the survivors.

Walt went up to Shannon. “Can I talk to you for a second?”

“About what?” She asked him.

“I want you to take care of Vincent. I want you to have him.”

“Why would I take your dog?” She asked, confused by his offer.

“Vincent helped me when I lost my mom. I figured since you lost your brother, you need him more than me.”

“Are you serious?” Shannon asked him.

He nodded. He handed her the leash and hugged Vincent before walking away.

“Walt?” Shannon called out.

He turned around and looked at her.

“Thank you.” She hugged him. He smiled.

Walt, Violet and Jin got on the raft. Sawyer and Michael pushed the raft into the water, jumping onto it at the last second.

The raft sailed into the water. Everyone cheered as it was working. They clapped their hands and kept cheering.

The night rolled in and Michael saw a light up ahead. He squinted his eyes and focused on it.

While on the raft, the group runs into some trouble

Chapter Text

“Mike, what is it?” Sawyer asked him.

“Look at that light. It’s a boat. Come on!” He said.

He shot a flare in the air to signal his location. The small boat began coming near them. They cheered except Violet who stared at it suspiciously.

The boat pulled up in front of them.

“What are you folks doing so far out here?” A bearded man asked them.

“We were in a plane crash and we landed on an island.” Michael explained. “There’s a bunch of people still on that island. Can you help them?”

“Well that’s some story. Of course I can help them. The thing is I need something.”

“I’ll pay you whatever you want when we get back home, okay?”

“We don’t want money. We need the boy.”

Their faces dropped. “What?” Walt asked.

“We need the boy.” He repeated.

“What’s going on here?” Michael asked.

“Your boy is coming with us.”

“No he’s not.” Michael pushed him behind his back.

The bearded man looked at his crew. “Take him.”

Sawyer raised his gun but another man shot him in the shoulder. He fell into the water.

“Sawyer!” Violet yelled.

Two men came onto their raft and grabbed Walt. Michael and Jin fought them.

“Dad!” Walt screamed.

He was on the other boat being held back by them. Violet held her hands out and used her powers to pull the boat closer to the raft.

The men's eyes widened seeing the action.

“Let him go!” She yelled.

A man shot a gun and landed in her shoulder as well. She yelled in pain as she fell into the water. Jin dove in after her. The bearded man threw a small stick of dynamite on the raft. Michael jumped off the raft. As Jin and Violet returned to the surface, he pushed their heads back down in fear as the explosion went off.

They returned to the surface. Violet looked around as Jin held her up.

“Are you okay?” Michael asked, swimming over to her.

She nodded. “Sawyer!” she yelled.

He emerged from the water, coughing. They got onto pieces of the raft.

“Where did they take Walt?” Michael asked.

“Sayid said that the Others were after a boy. That’s why Danielle took Aaron. She thought they wanted him and wanted to trade them for her daughter. What if that wasn’t the boy they were talking about? What if the whole time, they wanted Walt?”

Michael’s eyes widened. “Oh my gosh.”

“I bet they are taking him to the island. On the other side.” Sawyer said.

He nodded. “We have to go back.”

“I agree.” Violet nodded. “We have to go back to the island.”
