Shanks is 18 years old now. It's been around 3 years now since Captain Roger's death, since he separated from Buggy at Logue Town, since Roger pirates disbanded…..and since Captain Roger told him about his real heritage….
Frankly, he feels sick with himself. He is a Celestial Dragon. Captain Roger raised him just because he was found in some treasure chest that the Roger pirates harvested at the event of God Valley. Captain Roger, other Roger pirates, they will think it is fate or something that he was found in some treasure chest.
Pirates do really love fate huh ? Really believe in some destiny that will make them free. Freedom. That's why pirates become pirates. For freedom. Captain Roger surrendered himself for freedom, to go out with a bang for the last time rather than letting himself die by some incurable disease. He chose how he died, he was in control about his fate, he dont let fate control him.
Does Captain Roger really conquer fate ...or does fate actually lead him by nose. Why did Captain Roger pass him his straw hat despite knowing what his real heritage is ? How funny ... .This straw hat that symbolizes the wild untamed freedom got inherited toward the shackles of freedom itself, its nemesis.
Captain Roger would really think what ?? Shanks will be free to inherit this straw hat after dropping the bombshell about his real heritage ??? The only way for him to be free is to disinherit this freedom toward its rightful owner. He is just a bridge toward freedom. Something that will be stepped on to achieve true freedom….
That doesn't sound free at all. Does a bridge get to be free ? Is being stepped on free ?? and for whom does this bridge exist ? for himself ? for the rightful owner ? ….or for Captain Roger…
That’s the crux is it not ? Captain Roger…He is who he is today because Captain Roger decided to raise a Celestial Dragon brat on whim, treating it like a real treasure that exists in the treasure chest….
So will he be a sturdy bridge that the true owner can depend on…or will he be an old cranky bridge that sunk the true owner down with himself for good ?
This is his path now. A bridge. And this bridge is currently standing inside Pangea Castle at Mariejois, the heart of World Government, having an audience with the Five Elders. Returning to his primordial state as a shackled. Too tighten the shackles or too loose the shackles ?? Who knows ?? He is just a shackle that had long to be snapped, not by freedom, but by the shackle itself.
