Work Text:

Zee glanced at his window. The rain lightly sprinkled the glass as if it were a dessert. He sighed as he looked back at his notes. He hated studying. He would rather be with Nunew than study about some nonsense thing. Though, Nunew practically begged him to go study instead of going on a date.

He didn't want to see his boyfriend fail the mid-term exam. So, Zee is in his dorm, studying and memorizing for this exam.

It's a pain in the ass.

But he's only managing this since Nu promised him that they'll go on a date if he gets a high score. So, this man is blinded by love, studying like there's no tomorrow. He doesn't need to since he already understands the material.

But just in case, his boyfriend would tell him.

It was like a mother nagging their child.

Zee was basically zoned out until he heard his phone ring. Except, it was too late for him to answer.

He grabbed his phone and unlocked it, seeing how many missed calls he had. It was from Yim, his younger brother.

He tried calling back, but his calls went unanswered. *What the fuck, Yim?!* Zee thought to himself as he kept on calling. Until Yim answered. There were sniffles in the background. -"Yim? What's wrong? Why are you crying?"- Zee asked as he stood up from his desk, grabbing his car keys.

-"Hia–, he broke up with me!—"- Yim's voice on the other side broke as he explained the situation. Zee put on a jacket and grabbed an umbrella since it started raining even harder. -"N'Yim, where are you so I could pick you up?"- Zee said as he exited his dorm and walked towards his car. -"I'm near my old high school, you know the playground?"- Yim tried to keep his voice together. -"Okay, I'll pick you up there," Zee said as he got into his car and hung up the call.

Once Zee put the car into park, he dashed out of the car, running around the parking lot. He opened his umbrella as he searched for Yim. He desperately searched for his younger brother until he heard sniffles from a bench. He turned around to see his brother.

Seeing how his younger brother is in this state shattered his heart. He always promised to protect Yim from anyone who tries to hurt him.

As Zee walks closer to him, he takes a better look at Yim. He was drenched from the rain, his eyes were dry, puffy, and red from crying. His cheeks were red and tears stained.

"Yim..." Zee tried to speak but he felt a lump in his throat build up. He hated seeing his brother cry.

"Hia—" Yim tried to find the words to express what he's going through, but he couldn't; what he needs is his brother. So, he lunged towards his older brother. "I've tried— tried asking him why, but he—" Yim broke down in tears once again.

Zee hugged Yim tightly, afraid of letting go. He whispered comforting words to his younger brother. He covered Yim with his umbrella because he knew Yim was bound to get sick. "Come on, Yim. Let's go back to my dorm, and you can tell me what happened there. Maybe we can even stop by a convenience store and get your favorite snacks," Zee said as he took off his jacket. "Here, take off your jacket and put mine on."

The two college students walked towards the parking lot, and the rain was disappearing by the minute. The two of them are getting into the older student's car. The car ride was silent, but not uncomfortable. The soft tunes of the radio playing a random love song softly blasted throughout the car.

"Wait here, I won't be gone for so long," Zee said as he parked in front of a convenience store. Yim didn't reply, only looked at his nails. Zee sighed as he exited the car, walking into the store. The cashier welcomed him as she stacked the shelves. Zee walked through the aisles, trying to find Yim's favorite snacks.

Once he found them and grabbed a few, he went to the checkout. An elderly lady approached the register, engaging in a conversation with Zee, which honestly helped Zee feel a bit better.

He walked out of the store, as he entered his car he saw Yim leaning against the window. Deep asleep. Zee softly smiled, placing the bags in the backseat.

The older man exited the car, grabbing the bags before putting them near the front door and opening the door. *Always making me do the work, just like we were younger.* Zee thought to himself as he walked to the other side of the car. He opened the car door, unbluckling the seat belt before picking the sleeping college student.

He brought the younger man inside and placed him on the couch. "You're so heavy, did you know that?" Zee said to himself, standing up to get the bags, "You're so mean to your nong, Hia." Yim mumbled, rubbing his eyes. Zee scoffed as he grabbed the bags that were left near the door, "It's true, you're heavy to carry anymore. When did you get so big? It was like you were 8 and asking me to give you a piggyback ride." Zee said, remembering that moment.

Even if they were two years apart, it didn't matter. They did everything together. Even if they didn't go to the same college and had different schedules, they made time for each other for any type of reason. Just like this one.

Zee placed the bags down on the table in front of the couch. "Now, do you mind telling me what happened?" Yim looked away, shamefully. "Tutor broke up with me..." Zee listened as he took out the snacks from the bags.

"The thing is, yesterday he told me that he was willing to do whatever it takes to marry me, and like the dumbass I am; I believe him." Yim added, taking one of the ice-creams and eating it like there was no tomorrow. Zee, on the other hand, kept on listening to his brother.

"I'm just so stupid for believing that maybe he was the one. Hell, our relationship lasted longer than any of our last ones. Maybe you were right. He's just a playboy." Yim concluded as he stuffed his mouth with more snacks.

Zee had his doubts about Tutor, knowing where he came from and overall worried for his brother when he annoyed his relationship with him, but after some time of them dating Zee thought Tutor changed for the better.

The two brothers were wrong about that.

"It's just why would he say 'I'll do anything to marry you' and then break up with me the next day?! Who does that!" Yim voice started to crack as he wiped his eyes with Zee's jacket sleeve.

"I've tried asking him why, and all he said was 'I need some time to myself to think about something' he could've told me that and I would've been fine but this?! He's so confusing it makes me cry and yell every time!" Yim started to raise his voice as he explained to Zee.

"I swear if I see him next time, I'm not going to hold back." Zee grumbled as he ate a piece of chocolate. "Come on, let's get your mind off that stupid playboy." Zee said as he grabbed the remote, "I'll play your favorite movie." Zee concluded as he put on the Lorax, he seen it a bunch of time because of Yim, and he was tired of it, but just this time is acceptable.

At least he has a reason to tell Nunew if he fails his mid-term exam. Who could blame him now?

Notes:

I'm thinking of writing another chapter about Yim and Tutor relationship aftermath but idk🧍‍♀️ I'll do it if I see people asking for it tho!
