Chapter Text

Ever since you were a little girl, your voice has been your guide. The natural gift bestowed upon you by the universe leading you through the different stages of your life. Through practice and years of training, you've performed in plays, local competitions, and even made your fair share of your own music in hopes of becoming someone.

Lately, it feels like you've hit a dead end though. Inspiration running dry on you as you grapple with just how fast time seems to keep slipping you by. Until one afternoon, when you routinely stop by your favorite coffee shop for a caffeinated pick me up only to find a new flyer attached to the bulletin board on the wall. An infamous local band you've only vaguely heard about called Fallen Angels, and just your luck, they're looking for a new lead singer.

The rumors you've heard about this band from local townies is the typical hearsay that's been said about rock groups for decades. Oooh, they're demonic, their nefarious ways are corrupting the minds of any that dare listen to them, they're stealing the souls of the youth. How frightening. In your opinion, if a rock group doesn't have those pesky, satanic panic rumors following them around, are they even that good in the first place?

You take a sip of your iced coffee as you continue looking over the flyer, analyzing the faces of the band members as your intuition practically screams at you to just go for it. Suddenly, the bell on the door of the cafe rings out and a cool breeze rushes through the room as a handsome, dark-haired man donning a sleek, all-black ensemble enters.

The feeling that rushes through you as you immediately make eye contact with one another is like déjà-vu. His presence powerful, strong. Hitting you like a wave. The moment practically in slow motion as he flashes you the slightest smirk before going up to the counter to place his order.

You attempt to conceal the rush you just felt by quickly turning back to the bulletin board. And though the two of you are facing away from one another now, the energy in the air is undoubtedly charged. Your body surging with a nervous buzz at the close proximity of this total stranger right behind you.

Just as he grabs his black coffee from the barista, he nonchalantly comes and stands right next to you, obviously pretending like he's curious about the flyers on the bulletin board himself.

"You sing? Thinking about auditioning?" He assertively inquires before taking a slow sip of his coffee.

"Um. Yes, actually..." You shyly reply, the blush rising on your cheeks making you feel hot all over.

He turns to you with his free hand out. "I'm sorry. I should've introduced myself first. I'm San."

His devastatingly, cool demeanor notably matching the temperature of his hand as you shake it with an apprehensive smile on your face.

"Oh. Um. Nice to meet you, San. I'm YN. Are you... are you sure we haven't met somewhere in passing before? You- you seem awfully familiar to me for some reason?"

The way he continues to stand there, holding your hand in his grip, looking at you like he's known you forever despite your inability to put two and two together yourself... oddly enough puts you at ease.

"It's really lovely to meet you, YN. I'm sure I would remember a face like yours if we have..."

You softly laugh at his flirtatious behavior and brush it off before he continues.

"I- I know this may seem a bit forward of me, and you can say no, but the band... They're having one last show at Club Desire downtown before their lead singer goes solo. Perhaps, you'd like to join me? See what they're all about before the audition?"

Typically, you wouldn't allow some random man in a coffee shop to even attempt to pick you up like this, but it's almost like you can't bring yourself to say no. His charming demeanor and classic look like bait, reeling you in helplessly.

"Um. How about I just meet you there instead?"

As his lips curl into a smile, you instantly notice the dimples poking out of his cheeks. You simply can't deny just how visually stunning he is. The man beaming at you and your agreement to at least see him again.

"This Friday. 8pm. I'll see you there?" He says as he smoothly walks backwards towards the door to exit, keeping his eyes locked on yours until you give him your word.

You nod, feeling the energy of the room immediately start to shift again as he gets further away from you, leaving you in a daze.

"Yeah. See you there."
