Chapter Text

Wei Wuxian was a 6-year-old ger boy whose parents had died 6 months ago on the day of spring season celebration stampede in Yiling city.

Wei Wuxian became blind at the age of six due to stampede accident even he was much weaker and fragile than other boys of his age.

Wei Wuxian was kept separately inside the Lotus House of Lotus Pier under the supervision of his aunt Madam Yu.

Many children used to secretly bully Wei Wuxian because of his blindness, so he was under the supervision of his maternal aunt Madam Yu who took care of him like his mother.

Wei Wuxian was kept hidden in a separate house because of being ger gender because if the society came to know that he was ger despite being from such a prestigious Wei-Sanren family, then people would never respect him and he would be looked down upon and he would always be discriminated against.

Madam Yu along with her husband Jiang Fengmian, her elder daughter Jiang Yanli with her younger son Jiang Cheng are the part of Wei Wuxian's family but he was left alone due to blindness and his life was completely restricted as he could not move freely outside his four walls.

Wei Wuxian came from a high-class Wei-Sanren family so he did not have many friends and many people did not like to be his friends due to his blindness because the thinking of the people of that time was very conservative and they used to give more preference to their narrow and orthodox thinking.

Meanwhile Jiang Fengmian and Madam Yu hid Wei Wuxian from evil people for his safety because he was kept away from the family in this way in the times.

Strangely the Nie sect of Qinghe went against the society and adopted their younger son Nie Huaisang despite being of ger gender because he did not have any physical deficiency.

When Wei Wuxian befriends Lan Wangji who is his own age, he becomes extremely possessive and jealous type because he never had a friend in his life, so he becomes extremely jealous of others for his only friend.

Wei Wuxian was very scared of loneliness, so he always hovered around Lan Wangji and did not let him befriend anyone else at any cost.

*****

Lan Wangji's parents were killed by some robbers, after which the robbers left him on the streets of Yiling city instead of taking him with them because they were short of food and had to carry the loot to a faraway area.

Lan Wangji was wandering on the streets of Yiling for many days and was eating food by begging but no one would give him food because the city place was already occupied by refugees and due to this everyone would drive him away.

One day Lan Wangji met Jiang Yanli and Jiang Fengmian which became the biggest turning point of his life because then he was picked up from the streets of Yiling and taken to Yunmeng to take care of ger boy Wei Wuxian.

Jiang Fengmian feels that Lan Wangji is an outsider boy who is poor so he can never harm their little nephew even by mistake otherwise even if they take strict action against this child, his parents are not there to raise any objection.

Jiang Fengmian had no idea that Lan Wangji was the Royal 3rd Prince of Gusu who was left by robbers to wander on the streets of Yiling city.

Lan Wangji instantly entered Wei Wuxian's life and became his best friend as well as bodyguard even he always cared for Wei Wuxian from the bottom of his heart despite the fact that ger boy was blind.

*****

Jiang Yanli was 10 years old and loved her both younger brothers Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian very much but she was always worried about her cousin brother Wei Wuxian's safety.

Once while touring Yilling City with her father, Jiang Yanli spotted a poor child name Lan Wangji and brought him to her Yunmeng sect to be her cousin brother Wei Wuxian's friend.

Jiang Yanli wanted Lan Wangji to become attendant of Wei Wuxian so that his blind cousin brother would never have to face loneliness.

Jiang Yanli was very happy to see Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji happy together because she had a lot of responsibilities on her head to manage her study, so she knew that only a pure hearted person can take care of her younger cousin brother.

In the future, Jiang Fengmian would like to consider Lan Wangji to be a good partner for Wei Wuxian so that his nephew would never leave their house or go away from the Yunmeng Jiang sect.

Jiang Yanli was a very pure hearted person as she cared about her responsibilities before herself as she always gave priority to her family.

*****

Jiang Fengmian has always been a person who did not want to promote marriage and nepotism, but the wrath of time took such a toll on him that after the death of his best friend Wei Changze and sister-in-law Cangse Sanren, he had to take care of his nephews for lifetime.

Jiang Fengmian was a person who considered his Yunmeng Jiang sect as his wealth and he took care of all his family matters, but ever since the responsibility of raising a small ger child fell on his shoulders, his outlook on life had also changed to a great extent.

Jiang Fengmian was considered a very respected and prestigious person in the cultivation world, who never lied while following the traditions of his Yunmeng Jiang sect, but due to fear of the world, he hid the truth of his nephew Wei Wuxian's ger gender from the conservative society.

Jiang Fengmian was very worried about Wei Wuxian because firstly his nephew was blind and secondly in the orthodox society, people with ger gender were considered very disgusting and lowly, so both these reasons always frightened him.

Jiang Fengmian first saw Lan Wangji, his first thought was that this little kid could become a friend to his little nephew because Wei Wuxian was living like a prisoner inside Lotus House of Lotus pier, but maybe having someone by his side could bring a ray of hope into his little nephew's life.

*****

This story is about Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian from childhood to adulthood and how they become friends after finding each other in their lives and stand shoulder to shoulder to support each other in any terrible and dreadful situation.

Chapter 2: Cute Boy

Chapter Text

It was a day that seemed to promise adventure so the sun was shining brightly, casting a golden hue over the landscape.

The morning air was crisp, and the breeze carried the scent of the lush valleys.

Jiang Yanli, a young girl of ten years old, and her father Jiang Fengmian, both were embarking on a journey that would take them far from the familiar tranquility of the Lotus Pier.

Their destination was Yilling, a bustling town facing a refugee crisis as the Yunmeng Jiang Sect had sent them to assess the situation and offer any assistance they could.

Jiang Fengmian was a stoic and dedicated man, was keen on understanding the local dynamics and familiarizing himself with the market.

As a man of authority within the Jiang sect, Jiang Fengmian often took on duties like this, navigating the world outside the Yunmeng sect's walls.

Jiang Yanli was the obedient daughter, accompanied her father Jiang Fengmian on this journey.

Though only the age of ten, Jiang Yanli had a sense of responsibility that often belied her age, she wasn’t just with her father out of duty but she also had a personal mission to find a best companion for her cousin brother Wei Wuxian.

Wei Wuxian, at six years old, was blind, and though he was born with sight but he lost his eyesight due to stampede accident but his mind was sharp and capable of understanding things that others often took for granted.

Wei Wuxian’s blindness had set him apart from the world so his cousin sister Jiang Yanli and cousin brother Jiang Cheng, both of them loved him dearly and they were determined to bring some joy into their cousin brother’s life, even if it was through small tokens of affection like toys and special foods.

Wei Wuxian was particularly fussy about what he ate so Jiang Yanli wanted to make sure that her cousin brother felt cherished, even if ger boy couldn't always enjoy the same things as others.

It was an unfortunate reality that Wei Wuxian had spent much of his life inside the walls of his house Lotus House so his blindness made him vulnerable to the cruelty of the outside world, and the members of the Yunmeng Jiang sect had taken it upon themselves to protect him from prying eyes.

There was also a secret that weighed heavily on the young boy, Wei Wuxian was a "ger," a male with female reproductive attributes.

The cultivation world was harsh toward gers, and the Yunmeng Jiang Sect had gone to great lengths to conceal this truth.

To protect him, Wei Wuxian’s maternal relatives had kept him in seclusion, hidden from the judgment of the world.

However, tragedy had struck when six months ago, Wei Wuxian’s parents Cangse and Wei Changze had both passed away in a stampede accident.

The responsibility for the care of Wei couple's single child had fallen on Jiang Fengmian’s shoulders while he loved his nephew but unfortunately Wei Wuxian who required the most care and protection.

As a result, Jiang Fengmian had made the decision to restrict Wei Wuxian’s life to the safety of the Lotus House, the heart of their sect, guarded by Jiang disciples and watched over by his maternal aunt, Madam Yu with her two maids.

Madam Yu was cousin sister of Cangse Sanren, she was herself taking care of her nephew Wei Wuxian with her husband Jiang Fengmian.

Before Madam Yu's cousin sister Cangse Sanren passing, her friend had entrusted her with the promise to look after her only son.

Heartbroken Madam Yu took on the motherly role for Wei Wuxian, caring for him as though he were her own child, despite Wei Wuxian's extroverted nature but tendency to withdraw so he had begun to find solace in her care.

**Yilling City Tour**

Now, in the bustling streets of Yilling, Jiang Yanli walked beside her father Jiang Fengmian, surrounded by a cacophony of sounds and smells.

The Yilling market was teeming with people, merchants shouting their wares, customers haggling for the best prices, and children darting through the crowd.

Jiang Yanli was though used to the quieter life of the Lotus Pier but she was determined to find the perfect toys and treats for her brothers.

Jiang Yanli knew that something as simple as a hand-carved statue or a sweet delicacy could bring a smile to her brothers face.

As they wandered through the crowded streets, Jiang Yanli’s attention was drawn to a small figure sitting near the market’s edge.

A child, around the same age as Wei Wuxian, was sitting on the ground, his face smeared with dirt, his eyes wide with curiosity.

Unlike Jiang Yanli's brother, this child’s expressions were lack of life, his look was cold but his energy boundless.

Jiang Yanli couldn’t help but smile at the sight of Lan Wangji, but her smile quickly faded as she saw the boy being surrounded by a group of barbarians, they were tried to kidnap this little boy.

The boy’s face shifted from joy to terror as the barbarians moved closer, and with a shriek, Lan Wangji began to scream for help.

His small arm was exposed, and one of the barbarian lunged at him and the situation was escalating quickly, and Jiang Yanli and her father's heart raced.

Without hesitation, Jiang Yanli and Jiang Fengmian with their sect disciples rushed forward, using their presence and strength to chase the barbarians away with their swords.

They managed to clear the area, but Lan Wangji was still visibly shaken, tears streaming down his face as he clutched his arm, which had been scratched by one of the barbarians.

The little boy said, his voice trembling but sincere, “Thank you, Sister and uncle, for your help.”

Jiang Yanli knelt down beside Lan Wangji, offering a gentle smile, "You're welcome, little one. What’s your name?"

The boy replied, wiping his eyes and giving a sheepish grin, "My name is Lan Wangji."

Jiang Yanli asked, her voice filled with concern, "Why are you out here on the streets, alone? Where are your parents? Can we take you home?"

Lan Wangji’s face fell, and his eyes dimmed as he spoke, “I was traveling with my parents when some bandits attacked us. They killed my parents and took me with them but when they ran out of food, they left me here. I want to go back Jingshi but i don't know the root so, I live on the streets, eating food that’s been thrown away.”

Jiang Yanli’s heart ached for the boy, despite his tragic circumstances, Lan Wangji had a kind and courageous spirit that shone through.

Lan Wangji suddenly offered a half-eaten, dirty bun to Jiang Yanli, his stomach growling loudly from hunger.

Jiang Yanli could hardly bear the sight of the boy’s plight because Lan Wangji was offering her the last of what little food he had, despite being in such desperate need himself.

Jiang Yanli immediately gently shook her head, unable to accept the food, but her heart was heavy with the realization that this child was all alone in this cruel world.

A part of Jiang Yanli knew that she couldn’t simply leave Lan Wangji here on the streets of Yilling because this little boy deserved a better life, a chance to be safe and cared for.

Jiang Yanli said softly, her voice filled with compassion, “Lan Wangji, we can’t just leave you here. Come with us. We’ll take you somewhere safe, and you can have a warm meal.”

Lan Wangji’s face lit up with a hopeful expression, though there was a trace of doubt in his eyes so he said, "Sister, you would help me? Even though I have nothing to give you in return?"

Jiang Yanli replied, placing a reassuring hand on the boy’s shoulder, “Of course, everyone deserves kindness, no matter who they are.”

At that moment, Jiang Fengmian, who had been silently observing, he spoke, “We will take you to Yunmeng, where you’ll be safe. The Lotus Pier is a place of peace and care.”

Lan Wangji's doe eyes widened in surprise and he asked when his voice filled with awe, “You’d really take me with you but i don't have any money?”

Jiang Yanli smiled warmly, “Yes, we will. You won’t have to be alone anymore and we don't need any money for helping you out."

The decision was made so Jiang Yanli knew that taking this boy with them might bring unforeseen challenges, but she couldn’t ignore the spark of hope in Lan Wangji’s heart.

In a world filled with so much darkness and hardship, sometimes the simplest acts of kindness could make all the difference.

As they made their way back to the boat, Lan Wangji’s excitement was palpable because he had never imagined that someone would take him in, let alone offer him a chance at a better life.

Lan Wangji’s heart was full of gratitude and wonder, though he remained humble, his cold face felt still a little shy.

Jiang Yanli was walking beside her father so she couldn't help but feel a deep sense of responsibility even the road ahead was uncertain, but one thing was clear that their journey had taken an unexpected turn.

In bringing Lan Wangji into their fold, they were not only changing his life, they were changing their own.

The adventure that lay before them would be filled with challenges, but it would also be filled with moments of joy, discovery, and most importantly, the bonds of family and kindness.

Jiang Yanli looked at the smiling face of Lan Wangji, she felt for the first time in a long while that hope might be something worth fighting for.

Chapter 3: Lan Wangji's simplicity

Chapter Text

**Lan Wangji's Journey to the Yunmang Sect**

10-year-old Jiang Yanli was sitting in a small boat watching the busy streets of Yiling go by as the boat took her and her father Jiang Fengmian and little Lan Wangji to the city of Yunmang.

Looking at this innocent Lan Wangji, Jiang Yanli's heart was filled with emotion that if she and her father had not come to save this little child in time, then today those barbarians would have kidnapped this innocent child and taken him with them or they could have sold him to a brothel for money.

Jiang Fengmian also could not have imagined that such a pious child Lan Wangji was left alone in this cruel world and his family members had not yet come to look for him as it was evident from his dress.

Jiang Fengmian thought that Lan Wangji must be a child of the Gusu clan but perhaps this child had no one left in this world except his parents, that is why he was still wandering on the streets of Yiling.

Every wave rising in the river was making Jiang Yanli and Jiang Fengmian worry that if this little Lan Wangji was left alone, he could become a victim of the cruelty of the world because this child had a very innocent nature.

Lan Wangji was only six years old but Jiang Yanli saw the same decency and innocence in him that his younger cousin Wei Wuxian had and this was the only thing that was forcing Jiang Yanli to feel pity for this orphan child again and again.

Lan Wangji had suffered a lot in his short life because some robbers killed his parents for a few bucks and because of their cruelty, today that little child became an orphan and was left alone in the world after the tragic death of his parents.

Jiang Fengmian was heartbroken to think how such a kind child could be so helpless to the cruelty of those hidden in the darkness of the world.

Even Jiang Yanli couldn't help but worry about Lan Wangji's future because the little kid was still sitting quietly but if it was her cousin Wei Wuxian then he would have made a lot of noise and attracted everyone's attention.

Jiang Yanli had a lot of thoughts because even though Wei Wuxian was kept in seclusion, he was very mischievous but this innocent little kid Lan Wangji sitting in front of her looked much more serious.

The streets of Yiling were full of dangers and corrupt people who forced orphans to beg or worse, or even kidnapped them and took them to brothels to be sold for a good price.

Jiang Yanli could even hear the grumbling noises coming from Lan Wangji’s stomach because perhaps the little child was feeling hungry at this time, so she immediately took out some sweets from her bag and started giving them to the little child to eat.

Lan Wangji's mouth watered as he saw the sweets but he refused to eat them because his Lan sect strictly forbade children from eating sweets and was punished for it.

Jiang Yanli had always been protective of her younger brother Wei Wuxian who had become more introverted after their parents' death but her brother had always been very fond of eating sweets but Lan Wangji's temperament looked much more mature despite being hungry.

Jiang Yanli turned to her father and said in a serious tone, "Father, Lan Wangji's temperament is very different from all the younger kids in our sect and he doesn't even like to eat sweets like our Wei Wuxian."

Jiang Fengmian looked at Lan Wangji, despite the dust on his face, there was something in his eyes that reminded of the past, Lan Wangji's facial expression was colder than ice just like Jiang Fengmian's old classmate Lan Qiren.

As soon as he remembered Lan Qiren's face, a smile came on Jiang Fengmian's face but he knew very well that this child was not Lan Qiren's at all because he had already met his friend's children.

Jiang Fengmian asked Lan Wangji, there was a slight sadness in his voice, "Lan Wangji, son, would you like to eat something?"

Lan Wangji's big innocent eyes could melt anyone's heart, so the innocent child nodded lovingly and said, "I want to eat boiled lentil rice."

Jiang Fengmian smiled seeing Lan Wangji's innocence and asked, "Lan Wangji, why do you want to eat boiled lentil rice? If you want, I can also order fish to be cooked for you."

Despite being a small child, Lan Wangji showed wisdom and said, "Eating any kind of meat is prohibited in my Lan sect and we do not eat spicy food here, we only eat boiled food."

Jiang Fengmian had a smile on his face as he said sweetly, "What else does Lan Wangji like to eat?"

Lan Wangji replied to his uncle after counting something on his fingers, "Uncle, I like eating boiled food and also like eating freshly picked fruits from the trees and I also like doing calligraphy. I like to bathe in fresh water every day but I haven't had fresh water bath for a long time. Can I go to your house and bathe in fresh water because my mother always said that a person should stay clean and wear very clean clothes. A person's clothes reveal his character because if a person is hygienic then he likes to wear clean clothes too."

Jiang Fengmian said in an affectionate voice, “Lan Wangji, welcome to Yunmeng. Your parents have taught you very well and you are right that if a person is clean, then he is very fond of keeping his surroundings clean as well because it reflects the attitude of our mind somewhere. I feel very blessed to meet you because even though you are young in age, your understanding is very good.”

Jiang Fengmian had asked his cook to prepare boiled lentil rice specially for this little child, which Lan Wangji was eating with the etiquettes taught in his Lan sect despite being hungry.

After returning to Yunmeng city, the three of them were carrying some items from the market to their home along with the disciples of their Jiang sect.

Jiang Yanli asked lovingly, “Lan Wangji, you can find many different food items in our city, so if you feel like eating something, you can feel free to tell me.”

Lan Wangji's eyes lit up with curiosity, and he innocently asked, "Can I borrow a calligraphy brush? My brush was stolen by robbers."

Jiang Yanli smiled and said, "Lan Wangji, do you like studying so much that you want to give up eating and buy a calligraphy brush?"

Lan Wangji smiled, "Our Lan sect has more than 3000 big rules that we have to write every day, so I like calligraphy very much because whenever I do calligraphy, everyone in my sect praises me a lot."

Jiang Yanli replied calmly, "Lan Wangji, now you are like a younger brother to me, so if you need anything, you can go and tell me directly or you can ask dad for anything you want."

Lan Wangji beamed, “Thank you Shijie, I will never forget your kindness because you are such a nice and good-hearted person. My mother used to say that the kindness of a person who helps you without any greed should never be forgotten because that person is very good at heart.”

Jiang Yanli replied smilingly, “Lan Wangji, your sweet words have won my heart and I want you to take care of my younger brother now. Wei Wuxian’s parents also died in the stampede after which he also lost his eyesight in the accident so he cannot see. Lan Wangji, will you be my little cousin’s friend?”

Lan Wangji’s ears turned very red because till date he had never made friends with anyone, so he shyly nodded yes but his heart was beating fast.

Jiang Yanli took Lan Wangji to a shop in the market that sold the best quality calligraphy brushes and the two of them bought a variety of papers and brushes to help them study.

Jiang Fengmian was very happy to take home an intelligent kid like Lan Wangji because the other kids were not that serious about their studies but this kid was different because his values reflected his clan.

Chapter 4: Labubu

Chapter Text

**Inside the Lotus Pier**

Wei Wuxian sat quietly in the Lotus House while his aunt Madam Yu observed his flirtatious nature as he played with a scary doll Labubu and purposely scared Jiang Cheng.

Wei Wuxian asked softly with a quiet sadness in his voice, "Aunt Madam Yu, when will Uncle and Shijie return to our Lotus Pier?"

Madam Yu reassured him, "They will both return soon so don't worry too much but until then I will take care of you."

Wei Wuxian's eyes twinkled so he said, "I want to go to my mother's Haunted Mansion ."

(Cangse Sanren liked to call his wooden house the Haunted Mansion because it would create a buzz and deter people from trying to get near her house.)

Madam Yu hesitantly nodded and replied, "Wei Wuxian, I will take you there but you can't stay there for too long. Your uncle wouldn't want you to stay there for too long as the weather is changing now and it might affect your health."

Wei Wuxian quietly followed Madam Yu with a stick and then he knelt down outside his mother's wooden hut, the Haunted Mansion, because he used to play in the courtyard of the Haunted Mansion when his parents were alive.

There was a tree nearby on which a monkey suddenly appeared so Wei Wuxian smiled lightly and extended his hand towards the monkey.

Wei Wuxian whispered softly, "I will name you Labubu. Do you know I miss my mom so much. She named this house the Haunted Mansion so I want to name you after the cursed doll Labubu. You will be my new friend, my little monkey Labubu."

The monkey jumping on the tree did not like its name Labubu at all, so it came close to Wei Wuxian and immediately slapped him on the cheek.

Wei Wuxian's world slipped from under his feet when a monkey slapped him on the cheek, and Madam Yu, who was standing far away, ran and chased the monkey away from there.

Wei Wuxian started crying with big tears in his eyes as he called the monkey that had slapped him on the cheek, and he started telling his aunt, "Labubu slapped me really hard. Next time if I catch her, I will slap her just as hard. Monkeys these days have become so naughty that they even beat up a cute child like me."

Madam Yu brought Wei Wuxian back inside his Lotus House because she knows that sometimes there is a terror of monkeys at this time, so if the little boy stays inside the house, he will be safe.

Wei Wuxian told Jiang Cheng how a monkey slapped him on the cheek and his cousin laughed madly while rolling on the floor.

Wei Wuxian did not like Jiang Cheng making fun of him so he took his stick and ran after him but he could not see so he was not able to get a clear shot.

After dinner, everyone went to sleep but in the silence of the night inside the Lotus House, Wei Wuxian was troubled by his dreams because he often saw his parents dying in the stampede and repeatedly felt as if his mother was calling out, "Wei Wuxian, your mother is leaving you here. Take care of yourself my child and never disturb your aunt because now she will take care of you."

Wei Wuxian's dreams were piercing his heart like a blade and he was repeatedly trying to run to his parents which made him cry loudly in his sleep.

Wei Wuxian felt as if a volcano had erupted and he could not see anything but suddenly his feets were being forcibly pulled towards volcano.

Wei Wuxian's body was throbbing badly because his dreams had become so terrifying and he was remembering how he was separated from his parents due to the stampede and everyone was crying and calling out to their children.

The little 6-year-old child suddenly woke up from his sleep, then beads of sweat were coming from Wei Wuxian's forehead and his heart was beating fast, then he hugged his knees to his chest and started crying loudly while remembering his parents.

Wei Wuxian couldn't see anything which caused him to keep flashing back to the accident so he was panicking and had nightmares like these more often at night.

Wei Wuxian mumbled with trembling lips, his voice filled with emotion, "Madam Yu, I'm so scared."

Madam Yu who was sleeping in the next room heard Wei Wuxian's distress and rushed over to him but she saw that Wei Wuxian was shaking and his eyes were wide with fear even his breathing was fast and irregular.

Madam Yu placed a gentle hand on Wei Wuxian's shoulder and then whispered softly, "Wei Wuxian, it was just a nightmare. It's not real so please calm down and rest."

Wei Wuxian's lips were trembling but he shook his head but his tearful eyes were looking for solace then he whispered but his voice was barely audible, "Aunt Madam Yu, I'm so scared."

Madam Yu repeated in a calm voice, "Wei Wuxian, it was just a nightmare so please don't worry. Keep calm and go back to sleep. Everything will be fine in the morning and all the fear will go away from your heart."

Wei Wuxian nodded but his mind was so troubled that he couldn't sleep, he asked in a low and uncertain voice, "Madam Yu, is everything okay? I'm sorry to disturb you. Goodnight, Auntie."

Madam Yu caressed Wei Wuxian's head and said, "If you need anything, just call me. I am like your mother now so you don't have to be afraid of anyone. Jiang Cheng is your brother too so you don't have to be afraid of any bad danger with us. Your Uncle and Shijie will be returning to Lotus Pier tomorrow morning so everything will be fine so go to sleep tight."

Chapter 5: My Best Friend

Chapter Text

The next morning brought a relaxed feeling as Jiang Fengmian, Jiang Yanli and Lan Wangji finally returned to Yunmeng Jiang sect.

Looking at the surroundings, Lan Wangji walked towards the Lotus Pier with his usual enthusiasm and was eagerly looking at the berries, sherbet berries, plums and mulberries.

Lan Wangji's eyes lit up with hope that finally so many different kinds of fruits were available in yunmeng and later on, there were about 10 varieties of mangoes on the cart.

Jiang Yanli, seeing Lan Wangji's enthusiasm, took a little bit of each fruit as she wanted to sit and enjoy all these fruits with her whole family.

Lan Wangji was surprised to see a variety of fruits continuously because the place he came from was very cold and dry fruits like walnuts, almonds etc. were consumed a lot there.

Lan Wangji's sweet innocent smile lit up the environment around him as he was excited to taste the different kinds of fruits he would get to eat after such a long time.

Jiang Yanli looked at Lan Wangji seriously just before she got home so she said, "Lan Wangji, I want to tell you something, can you keep it a secret forever?"

Lan Wangji nodded at Jiang Yanli and folded his hands to answer, "Shijie, I promise that whatever you tell me, I will keep it a secret from my mother all my life and I will never break your trust."

Jiang Yanli laughed at his seriousness and said, "Actually, my younger cousin brother Wei Wuxian became blind due to an accident when his parents died and he is also a ger boy."

Lan Wangji looked at Jiang Yanli and she again continued, "Wei Wuxian is a ger boy who was raised differently from other children. After his parents died, he became very isolated and people often teased him because of his blindness. Wei Wuxian doesn't have any real friends so I was hoping that maybe you could be his friend."

Lan Wangji's face softened and he nodded vigorously, "Shijie, I too don't have any friends since childhood so I am willing to be your brother's friend. I will keep his secrets to myself and will never let him feel any pain."

Lan Wangji declared so innocently and with such confidence and sincerity that Jiang Yanli's heart was filled with a lot of happiness.

*****

**Arriving at Lotus Pier**

Soon after arriving at Lotus Pier, Jiang Fengmian left to attend to some official business but Jiang Yanli and Lan Wangji headed to the Lotus House where they were hoping to find Wei Wuxian.

As the two approached the Lotus House, one of Jiang's disciples told them that Wei Wuxian had the honor of visiting the Haunted Mansion with Madam Yu, so they had gone there.

Lan Wangji asked curiously about this mysterious place, "What is the Haunted Mansion?"

Jiang Yanli explained softly but her voice was gloomy, "Lan Wangji, the Haunted Mansion was named by Wei Wuxian's late mother Cangse Sanren when she was alive. Before his parents died, the Haunted Mansion was the three of them's home but ever since my uncle and aunt died, the place has been empty but sometimes my cousin brother insists on going there to play."

Lan Wangji was very surprised to hear someone's house being called a Haunted Mansion because he had never heard such a strange name for a house before, but such names were given to scary evil places.

As soon as they reached the haunted mansion, they saw that Wei Wuxian was kneeling in front of a wooden house but tears were dripping down his face.

Jiang Yanli suddenly became worried after seeing her younger brother crying, so she asked her mother, "Mom, why is Wei Wuxian crying?"

Madam Yu sighed with a heavy heart and told her the hard truth, "Jiang Yanli, when did you come back home and how has your journey been? By the way, I want to tell you that your brother was slapped by a monkey, due to which he has created a ruckus in the house by crying."

Jiang Yanli and Lan Wangji both had strange thoughts in their minds, so both of them asked together, "Why did the monkey slap Wei Wuxian?"

Madam Yu shook her head and replied disappointedly, "Wei Wuxian named a monkey Labubu after his scary doll yesterday evening, so the monkey slapped him yesterday evening, but today he was scaring all the monkeys with his scary doll Labubu, due to which the monkey slapped him again with hands. The monkey also took away his scary Labubu doll, so he is crying in sadness."

Jiang Yanli knew very well how much his cousin loved his scary and very evil looking doll Labubu and used to take it with him everywhere so that he could scare other children by telling scary stories about it.

Jiang Yanli felt pity on seeing Wei Wuxian crying with his hand on his cheek and said in a low voice, "Wei Wuxian, stop crying. Now that your Shijie has returned home, I will get a doll made for you just like Labubu."

Wei Wuxian immediately hugged his elder sister and started sobbing, his little body was wracked with sobs, he said while crying, "Shijie, a female monkey took away my beloved Labubu doll from me. She even slapped me yesterday and today too that evil monkey slapped me. Shijie, I am the cutest child, how can an evil monkey slap me? Will you find that clever monkey for me because she ran away with my most beloved and beautiful Labubu doll which I love very much.."

Jiang Yanli knew how much Wei Wuxian loved his scary Labubu doll so she immediately hugged her younger cousin and started to calm him down.

Jiang Yanli said, "Wei Wuxian, you stop crying or else you will get sick. I will get your Labubu doll back from that monkey but for now you have to calm down. I have brought you a new friend today who will make you feel good and will stay with you all the time and play with you too."

Jiang Yanli signaled Lan Wangji to come to his younger cousin after which he slowly walked up to Wei Wuxian.

Jiang Yanli grabbed Lan Wangji's hand and immediately put it in Wei Wuxian's hands and said, "Wei Wuxian, I have brought you a new friend who will stay with you for life and will be your life partner in a way because from now on he will be with you in every moment of happiness and sorrow."

Lan Wangji held Wei Wuxian's hand in his hands and both the kids were enjoying each other's touch but then Wei Wuxian put both his hands on his new friend's cheeks and started to pull and touch them.

Wei Wuxian pulled Lan Wangji's cheeks with both his hands and said softly, "New friend, what is your name? My name is Wei Wuxian. Your cheeks are cuter than a soft toy."

Lan Wangji's cheeks turned red with embarrassment but he replied shyly, "Wei Wuxian, my name is Lan Wangji."

Wei Wuxian ran his hand all over Lan Wangji's face, remembering when he accidentally touched his new friend's sacred forehead ribbon and then started playing with it.

Lan Wangji suddenly froze in place because he had been taught since childhood that no one could touch the sacred ribbon on his forehead and if anyone touched his forehead ribbon, it would mean that they would be married.

Lan Wangji took off his sacred ribbon and immediately tied it on his and Wei Wuxian's wrists together, causing his new friend to burst into laughter.

Wei Wuxian asked Lan Wangji, "Do you know my secret? No disciples from our sect are allowed to come near me but you have tied my hand with yours using a ribbon."

Wei Wuxian asked, his voice full of curiosity and a little fear so Lan Wangji replied, "I know your secret but I will never tell anyone. I promised your elder sister that I will stay with you and protect you so no one will harm you now."

Jiang Yanli smiled softly at the two little boys talking and said, "Wei Wuxian, you can trust him because Lan Wangji is a good boy. From now on, he will take the best care of you and will always be your friend."

Wei Wuxian mischievously pinched Lan Wangji's nose and said, "Lan Wangji, you are so cute that I want to name you Fairy but no one can replace my Labubu."

Lan Wangji felt very jealous when he heard the name Labubu and immediately asked, "Who is Labubu?"

Wei Wuxian started telling him the story of his scary doll Labubu while giggle because he loved to scare small children by telling such haunted stories but Lan Wangji was not the one to get scared at all so he did not feel scared at all when he heard the story of the haunted Labubu doll.

Wei Wuxian was walking ahead with his stick because he could not see so he had to take the support of the stick but Lan Wangji was listening to all his chatter without saying anything.

While walking Lan Wangji saw a scary doll lying behind the bushes so he picked up the doll on which was written Labubu in Chinese Character.

Lan Wangji gave a strange smile on seeing the Labubu doll and then punched the doll twice on its face and quietly returned it to his friend Wei Wuxian.

Wei Wuxian was so crazy happy to see his scary ghostly looking Labubu doll that in his excitement he hugged Lan Wangji too and then they both ran towards the garden to eat fruits.

Madam Yu brought a lot of fresh fruits for both Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian where the three of them were sitting in the garden eating fresh fruits and enjoying the nice air.

Chapter 6: Ribbon Exchanged

Chapter Text

Wei Wuxian was walking holding his stick in one hand and holding his friend Lan Wangji's hand in the other, following Madam Yu.

Jiang Cheng was jealous of Wei Wuxian's friend and so he immediately ran to his mother.

Jiang Cheng asked Madam Yu, "Mother, who is this dirty-clothed boy? I have never seen this boy playing or studying in our sect before."

Wei Wuxian did not like hearing Jiang Cheng speak ill of Lan Wangji, so he swung his stick and started scaring his cousin.

While twirling his stick, Wei Wuxian said, "Jiang Cheng, it will not be good if you speak ill of my friend Lan Wangji."

Lan Wangji was feeling a little embarrassed because his white clothes had become very dirty, so Wei Wuxian was quickly taking him to his room with the help of his arm and stick.

Jiang Cheng was told by Madam Yu that Lan Wangji was brought here to take care of Wei Wuxian and from today onwards he will be his best friend and protect him for the rest of his life.

Wei Wuxian couldn't see so he immediately took his new friend to his wardrobe and said, "Lan Wangji, whichever of my clothes you like the most, you can wear that to take a bath."

Lan Wangji took out one of Wei Wuxian's purple clothes and thanked him and started looking for a bathroom around so then Wei Wuxian pointed with his stick and said, "Lan Wangji, the bathroom in my room is right next to there so you can go take a bath and wear new clothes."

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian's hands were tied with a ribbon tied of his forehead then he untied his ribbon and left it in his new friend's hand and left for taking a bath.

Lan Wangji took the new clothes and kept them in the bathroom and then took off his old dirty clothes and soaked them in a bucket nearby, then he took a bath and came out wearing new clothes.

Wei Wuxian was dancing with the ribbon tied to his wrist and holding his stick when Lan Wangji came out of the bathroom and saw how his new friend was dancing with the ribbon tied to his hand.

Lan Wangji asked Wei Wuxian, "Why are you dancing while touching my ribbon? Do you know that only the person I marry can touch this ribbon now?"

Wei Wuxian smiled and said, "Lan Wangji, now that I have touched your ribbon, it means you will marry me and you will never leave me. From today onwards, I will call you my husband."

Lan Wangji's ears turned red because Wei Wuxian did not think before speaking and would just blurt out anything, even the ger boy took out a red scarf from his wardrobe and put it on his head.

Wei Wuxian said, "Lan Wangji, this red scarf is my mother's and I will wear it in my wedding so I look like a bride right now."

Lan Wangji was surprised to see Wei Wuxian's fun-loving nature because despite being blind, he was full of the quality of living life and he knew how to have fun in any situation.

Jiang Cheng immediately came into the room and said, "Wei Wuxian, you look like a monkey wearing this red scarf. Your Labubu doll looks so scary that no one will ever marry you because after a few days you will also start looking as scary as your doll."

Jiang Cheng loved teasing Wei Wuxian because whenever his younger brother made faces, he enjoyed fulfilling his requests.

Wei Wuxian walked in front of Lan Wangji with a stick and whispered, "Jiang Cheng, Lan Wangji has put his forehead ribbon on me, which means that we are now married, so you should give us both your favourite toys as our wedding gifts today."

Jiang Cheng pulled the scarf over Wei Wuxian's head and said, "Lan Wangji, my brother is very clever, so don't fall for his sweet talk because he will deceive you with his words."

Wei Wuxian grabbed Lan Wangji's arm and immediately hugged him and said, "Lan Wangji, don't listen to my brother because he is a lunatic. I will never deceive you with my sweet talk."

Jiang Cheng came to Wei Wuxian and said, "Wei Wuxian, in a few days your new friend will know that you are an expert in buttering people up and then he will understand all your tricks on his own."

Wei Wuxian grabbed Lan Wangji by both arms and made him sit on his bed and said, "Keep a distance from Jiang Cheng because you are my best friend. Lan Wangji, will you play with me? You have given me your most important gift, so I will also give you my most important gift."

Wei Wuxian took out the red ribbon from his hair and placed it in Lan Wangji's hand and said, "Just like your ribbon is very important, my red ribbon is also very important to me because this is the last memento of my mother which I am giving to you today, so keep it with you."

Lan Wangji looked at Wei Wuxian's ribbon in his hand which was indeed red and he immediately tied it in his own hair.

Lan Wangji took his ribbon off Wei Wuxian's wrist and immediately tied it on his new friend's forehead and both of them were smiling like cute kides after wearing each other's ribbon.

Wei Wuxian took Lan Wangji to all the disciples who were playing nearby and while walking with a stick, he was shouting to everyone that he has found a new best friend for himself.

Lan Wangji was amazed at how excited the little boy was to tell everyone about his new friend even though he didn't see it.

Lan Wangji even held Wei Wuxian's scary looking Labubu doll as his best friend gave him his scary looking doll to hold.

Even though Wei Wuxian could not see, his personality was very much like that of a don who scared everyone with his stick, but inside him there was a playful kid who loved to have fun and had embraced the harsh reality of his life.

Chapter 7: Cute Gestures

Chapter Text

After playing in the garden with his new friend, Lan Wangji had dinner and went to sleep at the Lotus House which had three rooms, one of which was the library, the second was where Wei Wuxian lived, and the third room was sometimes occupied by Madam Yu or one of her personal maids to look after the blind ger boy.

Madam Yu would come to stay at the Lotus House when Jiang Fengmian was not at home and would he take a group of Jiang disciples with him to another sect, and his wife would take their children and sleep at Wei Wuxian's house so that everyone would be safe together.

Today, Madam Yu's trustable maid Xiao Yu came to Wei Wuxian's house to take care of him.

Wei Wuxian came to his room holding his scary doll Labubu close to his chest and said, "Aunt Xiao Yu, today I want to listen to the story of the witch robber that you told me earlier but I forgot about it. I will scare my friends by telling them the story of the witch robber."

After washing kids hands and face in the room, Xiao Yu was telling the story of a robbing witch to both the kids in bed at bedtime.

Wei Wuxian was lying on the bed while listening to the horror story, holding his scary doll Labubu to his chest because he was blind so he couldn't see anything, but Lan Wangji was also scared after seeing the scary doll because it was already late night.

After listening to the scary story, both the kids got scared and quickly hid their faces under the blanket and went to sleep.

Lan Wangji said to his new friend, "Wei Wuxian, please move Labubu away from the bed because I'm scared."

Wei Wuxian hugged his scary doll and replied, "Lan Wangji, from which angle does my doll look scary to you when it is one of the most beautiful dolls in the world. I will not listen to any nonsense about Labubu because it is the most beautiful doll in the world."

Lan Wangji made a face and said, "Then don't put it between us and you can sleep on the other side but I don't want to see your beautiful Labubu doll at night at all."

Wei Wuxian deliberately showed his scary doll in front of Lan Wangji's face, after which his friend immediately closed his eyes and hid his face by placing his hands on his face.

Wei Wuxian enjoyed scaring everyone by showing his Labubu doll, so he was deliberately teasing his new friend at night because he could not see, so he enjoyed scaring others at night by keeping scary things with him.

Wei Wuxian loved telling scary ghost stories because that is why he enjoyed waking up in the morning and telling the same story to his friends and scaring them.

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian both got very scared after listening the story of the scary witch and they were acting as if they were sleeping while hugging each other because the heartbeat of both of them had increased very fast due to fear.

Wei Wuxian lifted one of his legs and placed it on Lan Wangji's leg because he did not want to go away from his new friend for any reason because the story was very scary.

Both the kids fell into a deep sleep and today the biggest miracle that happened because of Lan Wangji was that for the first time Wei Wuxian did not have nightmares but he was comfortably snoring till morning.

In the morning, Madam Yu came to wake up both Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian at 8:00 am because today there was going to be an annual day function for the little kids in their Jiang sect where everyone was going to perform a theatre drama based on old mythical stories.

Many people also got a chance to act in Lotus Pier and those who had the best performance got a chance to perform in the annual day function where the biggest artists of Yunmeng also came and encouraged those little disciples.

Wei Wuxian did not have any problem but sometimes he felt nervous due to the crowd because he had lost his parents due to the stampede.

Madam Yu had quickly woken up both Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian to bathe in the morning and she made them stand down from the bed then she first started taking off her nephew's clothes and now Wei Wuxian was standing only in his underwear.

Lan Wangji was feeling embarrassed when he saw Wei Wuxian standing in his underwear because Madam Yu was going to take them both inside the bathroom to take a bath together when he had to take off his clothes.

Madam Yu then quickly took off all the clothes of Lan Wangji too and now he was standing only in his underwear and holding both the children's hands she took them inside the bathroom to bathe.

Lan Wangji was feeling very shy in front of Wei Wuxian but he knew one thing that his friend could not see, so he calmed his mind a little and both the children were bathing together in the bathtub.

Madam Yu had taken off Wei Wuxian's underwear and started making him wear new clothes but Lan Wangji was used to wearing his clothes himself, so he was wearing his clothes himself but he was feeling very shy.

Madam Yu was braiding the hair of both the kids one by one and both of them were having the each other's ribbon in their hair as the kids were insisting on wearing each other's ribbon.

Wei Wuxian, on being scared of getting into the crowd, immediately requested his aunt, "Aunt Madam Yu, our sect is going to be very crowded today so can you braid my hair with Lan Wangji's hair as I'm afraid we might get lost."

Madam Yu saw the worry on Wei Wuxian's face and immediately looked at Lan Wangji and asked, "Do you mind if I tie your hair together? If some parts of your hair are tied together then you both won't be able to be differentiated from each other in the crowd."

Lan Wangji hold Wei Wuxian's hand and immediately placed his hair in front of Madam Yu and then took small sections of their hair and braided them together.

Madam Yu smiled and said to both of them, "It is good that you are still children because in our time, if the hair of two people was joined together, it was considered a marriage. In our time, the hair of the husband and wife were kept joined after marriage as a sacred thing forever and it was believed that this new pair will always remain safe."

Wei Wuxian innocently asked his aunt, "When will Lan Wangji and I get married? I also want to get married as soon as possible so that everyone can gift me new gifts."

Madam Yu placed her hand on Wei Wuxian's head and said, "Stupid, you are too young right now so it is not possible for you to get married right now. You can marry the boy of your choice only after you turn 18."

Wei Wuxian counted on his fingers and said, "That means it will take a lot of time for me to get married but I want to get married right now and get lots of gifts."

Lan Wangji was embarrassed just by hearing about his marriage because in his Lan sect no one talked about marriage openly like this and both the children thought that marriage is about wearing new clothes and eating good food, in which a lot of people come and give gifts to the bride and groom.

Lan Wangji didn't say a single word but he held Wei Wuxian's hand and now the three of them comfortably walked out towards the garden where everyone had come to watch the theatrical performances.

Dancing was never allowed to be held in Cloud Recess so Lan Wangji was surprised to see all performers but Wei Wuxian couldn't see anything so he could feel the excitement of the surrounding environment by listening to the sounds of their surroundings.

Everyone took their seats and after that the show started, Lan Wangji was watching everyone's performances with full enthusiasm but Wei Wuxian was listening to everything attentively and was also asking his friend about everything.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji were both kids so they didn't know much but the maid Xiao Yu was demonstrating to the kids how each one was playing mythical ancient character in the play.

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian had a strand of hair tied together which made everyone notice them but because of this they never got separated from each other in the crowd but this was harmful when either of them had to go to the bathroom quickly.

Wei Wuxian would sometimes drink a lot of juice and would repeatedly ask Xiao Yu to take him to the bathroom but Lan Wangji would feel very embarrassed when he had to go to the bathroom.

Wei Wuxian would stand outside the bathroom and tell Lan Wangji, "Hurry up because I have to go listen to the play."

Lan Wangji's face would turn red with embarrassment because he would not say anything when Wei Wuxian went to the bathroom but his new friend would make noise every time he had to go to the bathroom.

In the evening, when the play was over, after dinner, Xiao Yu brought the two kids back to Lotus House as she was on duty to take care of the kids.

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian both had locks of hair entangled together so they were separated only after returning home.

Both of them had so much fun today that after coming to bed room, they both fell asleep together without listening to the story.

Chapter 8: Selfless Bond

Chapter Text

**Few Days Later**

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian were both given a private tutor named Jiang Binbin who came to the courtyard outside their house to teach them every day.

Lan Wangji had already been taught basic writing so Jiang Binbin had no problem teaching such an ideal student but Wei Wuxian could not see so he had a lot of problems studying.

Wei Wuxian was a chatterbox who would ask a lot of questions about everything which sometimes made his teacher angry as he would keep asking, "Why did this happen and why was it done? What if we don't follow the rules? What if we don't study?"

When it was time for Wei Wuxian to prepare ink, he would spill more ink on his clothes so his teacher Jiang Binbin would always scold him because he could never focus on one thing.

Jiang Binbin would sometimes punish Wei Wuxian by making him sit on his knees under the sunlight, even teacher would get so fed up with his mischief that  little ger boy would keep laughing even during his punishment.

Lan Wangji was a very good student, so he would listen to everything his teacher said, but whenever Jiang Binbin would punish Wei Wuxian for being mischievous, he would feel a lot of pain in his heart for his friend.

One day Jiang Binbin had to go somewhere so he wore his best clothes and came to the courtyard of Lotus House for teaching.

During his lecture, when Jiang Binbin went to see the class work of the two students, Wei Wuxian was preparing his own links and by mistake all the links fell on his teacher's clothes.

Jiang Binbin was very angry with Wei Wuxian's carelessness so he was about to extend his hand and hit his student on the head when immediately Lan Wangji put his hand behind his little friend's head.

Jiang Binbin slapped Lan Wangji's hand very hard which made his hand red but little boy was able to control the tears in his eyes with great difficulty.

Wei Wuxian also heard the sound of the slap so he was scared and immediately apologized to his master but when Jiang Binbin saw tears in Lan Wangji's eyes, he realized his mistake that he should not raise his hand on a blind child in such anger.

Jiang Binbin immediately apologized by kneeling in front of Lan Wangji, "Lan Wangji, son forgive me, I did not see your hand and in anger I raised my hand too fast. I apologize to you that it was not your fault and I should not get so angry but I don't know how I lost my temper today."

Lan Wangji's eyes were filled with tears but he didn't say anything but after hearing his sobs Wei Wuxian immediately reached out and took his hands to Lan Wangji's face.

Wei Wuxian asked Lan Wangji, "Why are you crying?"

When Wei Wuxian asked Lan Wangji, he only heard the sound of crying so he immediately hugged his little friend and tried to calm him down.

Jiang Binbin also realized that they were just little kids who made a mistake unintentionally but he should control his anger and not get so angry without any reason.

Jiang Binbin also applied medicine on Lan Wangji's hand after some time as there was a slight swelling and he also told Madam Yu about today's incident after which Madam Yu scolded Jiang Binbin a lot but after seeing his truthful behavior she also decided to give him an another chance.

Jiang Binbin was considered to be a very sophisticated teacher and this was his first mistake, after this he also started being very cautious in his behavior because he did not want to harm both the small children in any way.

Lan Wangji used to get warning many times because of Wei Wuxian because he always came forward to help his friend, so sometimes both of them were punished by sitting on their knees for 20 minutes.

Wei Wuxian used to drive away all the birds and pigeons flying nearby with the stick with which he used to walk, but Lan Wangji always used to stop his friend from disturbing the birds sitting on tree branches.

Once Xiao Yu was getting both of them to do their homework, when Wei Wuxian, after preparing ink, deliberately made Lan Wangji's face dirty with his calligraphy brush, after which both of them started having fun by applying ink on each other's face.

As soon as Xiao Yu saw both the kids having fun, she immediately scolded them because they had soiled all their clothes in ink, so she punished both the kids by making them stand in their underwear with their hands up for 20 minutes.

Lan Wangji was feeling very embarrassed but Wei Wuxian was dancing in his underwear with swinging his hips because he couldn't see anything, so it didn't matter to him, rather he was enjoying walking around like this in this summer weather.

Lan Wangji found the punishment given by Xiao Yu very embarrassing because in his Lan Sect there was a rule to always wear two to three layers of clothes, but here in Yunmeng, he always felt embarrassed standing in front of Wei Wuxian in underwear.

The Lan family had very strict rules due to which Lan Wangji was never allowed by his mother to walk around in underwear even though he was only 6 years old.

Wei Wuxian was enjoying his punishment by dancing with both hands holding his stick above his head and he was enjoying the swinging his hips while wearing a underwear even he was humming a folk song deliberately.

Lan Wangji was surprised to see Wei Wuxian enjoying punishment like this and wondered what kind of person his friend was who always enjoyed being punished.

Half an hour later, both of them had bathed and changed into new clothes but Xiao Yu had sent Lan Wangji out to play with the other kids for a while because she couldn't take away another kid's freedom because of Wei Wuxian.

Little Wei Wuxian had made a lot of fuss when his friend left and he was waiting for his friend to come back alone in the garden of Lotus House with his stick.

When Wei Wuxian heard Lan Wangji's return after about an hour, the smile returned to his face because Jiang Cheng, Jiang Yanli and Lan Wangji had now come to spend about an hour with him.

Chapter 9: Periods

Chapter Text

**6 Years Later**

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian were now 12 years old and it had been 2 years since they had been learning swordsmanship together.

One day, they were practising swordsmanship in the courtyard of the Lotus House, Madam Yu had taught both Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji swordsmanship very well, and apart from that, the sect leader Jiang Fengmian himself used to take their classes.

Both Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji had learnt swordsmanship very well, so much so that Lan Wangji had even learnt to swordsmanship blindfolded due to his friend being blind.

Wei Wuxian had learnt swordsmanship using sound as he had learnt to target his prey by recognising its breathing or any sound.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji were both wearing white martial arts clothes and were doing sword fighting very well and after that both of them slowly started doing karate by using their hands and feet.

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian were jumping and fighting with each other because it was very important to prepare a ger boy for self-defense then Jiang Cheng saw a blood stain on Wei Wuxian's clothes.

Jiang Cheng pointed his finger at Wei Wuxian's hips and said, "Mother, it seems Wei Wuxian got hurt that's why there is blood on the back of his pyjamas."

Everyone got scared on hearing the word blood suddenly and Lan Wangji also took off his blindfold and immediately everyone was looking at the blood splatter on Wei Wuxian's pyjamas.

Suddenly everyone got scared and worry could be clearly seen on their faces.

Jiang Cheng immediately asked his cousin brother, "Wei Wuxian, are you hurt somewhere behind?"

Lan Wangji also immediately asked, "Wei Wuxian, are you in pain somewhere?"

Madam Yu and Jiang Yanli both understood what had happened to Wei Wuxian so they immediately stepped forward and scolded Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng and pushed them back.

Madam Yu immediately took Wei Wuxian to his bed room in the Lotus House but she forbade everyone else to follow them.

Madam Yu checked on Wei Wuxian after he took off his pajamas and she understood that the ger boy had periods due to puberty so she was explaining it to him slowly and lovingly.

Madam Yu chose her words very carefully and said, "Wei Wuxian, you have grown up now because from today onwards you will have periods every month. You don't need to be scared at all because ger boys, girls and females all have periods. From now on, you will have to rest for about 5 to 7 days and not jump around because now you will have periods every month."

Wei Wuxian was a little scared so he nervously asked, "What are periods?"

Madam Yu started telling him about the menstrual cycle that girls and women go through and after listening to this Wei Wuxian became sad because now he will not get to play for 5 to 7 days in a month like the rest of the children.

After seeing Wei Wuxian sad, Madam Yu also told him how he should protect himself by covering himself with a cloth during periods and how he should avoid blood stains on his clothes.

Wei Wuxian could not see so Madam Yu had to wash his dirty blood strain clothes.

Suddenly out of patience, Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji both insisted on coming inside because they thought that maybe something terrible had happened to their beloved friend Wei Wuxian which everyone was trying to hide from them.

Jiang Cheng saw his cousin brother's sad face and immediately asked, "Wei Wuxian, I'm so worried so tell me the truth about what happened to you?"

Lan Wangji also worriedly asked, "Wei Wuxian, are you okay? Are you seriously injured? How could you be bleeding from such a place? Did you check properly to see if there is a spider or insect in your clothes?"

Wei Wuxian immediately told his friends sadly, "What you two are thinking is not what happened to me. I have started getting my periods because I have grown up.  Aunt Madam Yu told me that now I will have my periods for 5 to 7 days every month and then I will have internal bleeding."

Wei Wuxian was very simple, so whatever his aunt Madam Yu told him, he started telling all the details to both his friends, after which Jiang Cheng felt very sad for the ger boy.

But after listening to Wei Wuxian, Lan Wangji was worried about his friend because during periods it can be very difficult for a blind person to keep his clothes completely stain-free.

Lan Wangji, seeing Wei Wuxian's sad face, immediately came to him and said, "Don't you worry, I will always take care of you and will not let your clothes get stained at all."

Wei Wuxian was also in a lot of pain due to periods, so he lay down on the bed and said, "My stomach is hurting a lot and I also feel like eating sweets a lot."

Wei Wuxian got cramps during periods so he was craving to eat sweets, so hearing his wish Lan Wangji immediately went to get some sweets for him.

Lan Wangji brought sugar candy for Wei Wuxian which the ger boy was eating with relish but he still had his hand on his stomach.

Lan Wangji immediately told Madam Yu that Wei Wuxian was having stomach pain, then Madam Yu explained to all of them thag, "Listen to me carefully, now we have to take care of Wei Wuxian during his periods because usually everyone has stomach pain during periods. He should not eat sour and too cold food at such times because all the dirt in our body comes out only when periods come."

Lan Wangji came and sat next to Wei Wuxian and was caressing his head with his hands again and again, then he promised his best friend and said, "Wei Wuxian, you don't need to worry too much because whenever you get your periods, I will help you completely."

Madam Yu immediately understood the situation and said, "Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian has grown up now so both of you will have to live in separate rooms. Jiang Yanli will be living with Wei Wuxian from now on so you don't have to take care of him much anymore, you just have to help him with the outside Lotus House."

All the children were shocked to hear Madam Yu's words but Wei Wuxian held Lan Wangji's clothes tightly and said, "I will not sleep with Shijie. I am used to sleeping with Lan Wangji so I feel comfortable with her. Aunt Madam Yu, I can't live without my best friend and I have become used to him. Only Lan Wangji can take care of me now. I can't sleep without him so only he will sleep with me in my room."

Madam Yu tried to convince Wei Wuxian many times but he did not listen to anyone and he was holding Lan Wangji's clothes tightly in his hands because he could not see his friend going away from him in any way.

Everyone except his best friend Lan Wangji, started forcing Wei Wuxian that from today onwards he will either have to sleep alone in the room or sleep with his Shijie, so the ger boy started crying out of stubbornness due to which everyone gave in to his stubbornness.

Madam Yu had allowed Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji to sleep in the same room but their beds were now separated because she knew very well that Lan Wangji would soon reach puberty.

Wei Wuxian had agreed to sleep in separate beds because he too could feel some slight changes in his body but he did not understand much at the moment.

Chapter 10: Gusu

Chapter Text

**3 Years Later**

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian were now 15 years old teenagers when one day suddenly a letter from Gusu Lan sect arrived at Lotus Pier which caused a lot of commotion everywhere because all the boys were now over 15 years old and so all the boys were going to get a chance to go to Gusu for studying in the Cloud Recess.

Everyone was very happy except Lan Wangji because inside the letter, he and Jiang Cheng were invited to Gusu to study for 3 months because to go there, one had to apply in advance in which Jiang Fengmian had written the names of both the boys.

Lan Wangji did not feel like going anywhere except Wei Wuxian because he used to take a lot of care of his friend every month during his periods, even now he was slowly starting to feel his puberty so he started getting attracted towards his friend.

Lan Wangji had not said anything to Wei Wuxian yet but he loved spending all his time with his friend but he did not like the sudden decision to go to another sect at all because he did not want to be separated from his friend even for 1 minute.

Wei Wuxian was very happy when Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng were going to Gusu because he really wanted them to go to new sects and learn new things so he could learn something new too.

Being a young boy, Wei Wuxian didn't go out much but he used to take all the details about the outside world from whoever went to other sects and came back to Lotus Pier because if his eyes were fine, he would also want to travel around the world.

Lan Wangji had come back to Lotus House from everyone's happiness and he was sitting on his bed with a pout when Wei Wuxian came to his room tired after using his stick.

As soon as Wei Wuxian came into the room, he called out to his friend, "Lan Wangji, I am very happy for you because I don't know anything about Gusu yet, so when you go there, explore everything and tell me. You are going for 3 months right, so do your packing quickly."

Lan Wangji sulked and replied angrily, "Wei Wuxian, if I go to Gusu for 3 months, who will take care of you here? How can you be so happy about my decision to leave when you know that I have to take care of you here."

Wei Wuxian entered the room with his stick and said with a smile, "Lan Wangji, it's just a matter of 3 months and after that you will come back so Auntie will take care of me till then. Xiao Yu, teacher Jiang Binbin, Shijie, Aunt Madam Yu and Uncle are here to take care of me so you don't have to worry too much about me. You know such opportunities don't come often so you should go there."

Lan Wangji made a face and turned his face to the other side and said, "I am not going to leave you at any cost."

Wei Wuxian immediately said in anger, "Uncle, Shijie and I are going to drop you and Jiang Cheng off at Gusu and for the first time I will get a chance to go out of here. Do you want to snatch this chance from me? How can you be so selfish? You know I haven't gone out of here for so many years and with this excuse I am getting a chance to go out and that too you can't give me for the sake of my happiness."

Wei Wuxian also went to his bed and sat down sulking while doing emotional drama in front of Lan Wangji because he wanted to send his friend away to study at any cost and at the same time he also wanted to find an excuse to go out of Lotus Pier for the first time.

Lan Wangji always knew that Wei Wuxian was very eager to travel to new places, so to keep his dear friend happy, he reluctantly agreed to go to Gusu and study for 3 months.

Both Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji started preparing to leave as they all had to leave for Gusu in 2 days as their Jiang sect's invitation letter had mistakenly arrived last.

After 2 days, Jiang Fengmian bid farewell to his wife and left for Gusu with all the teenagers where Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian, Jiang Cheng and Jiang Yanli all excitedly left for Gusu by boat along with a few disciples.

Wei Wuxian was kept under the supervision of both Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji as the two best friends were going out of the Lotus Pier after many years, so Jiang Fengmian left with a group of 10 disciples.

Wei Wuxian was sitting in the boat after almost 11 years so he was repeatedly asking about the surrounding scenery from Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng because he could not see but feeling everything was giving him a mesmerizing feeling.

Wei Wuxian's face was covered with a transparent mask where his cheeks, nose and lips were hidden but his eyes and beautiful hair were visible to everyone but he also had Lan Wangji's ribbon tied on his forehead because he had been wearing his best friend's ribbon on his forehead since childhood.

Lan Wangji was wearing purple clothes but had a red ribbon in his hair because he used to carefully wear the last memento of Wei Wuxian's mother in his hair since childhood.

Gusu's journey was very long because almost a whole day was spent in their journey, after that they reached Caiyi Town late at night where after going there, they booked an entire inn for themselves.

Two people were staying in the inn rooms but since there was only one bed in the room, Lan Wangji was ordered by the sect leader Jiang Fengmian to stay with Jiang Cheng so Wei Wuxian got to share a room with his Shijie for the first time.

Wei Wuxian was not used to travelling so he went to his room after having dinner and slept but Lan Wangji was not getting any sleep in the same room with Jiang Cheng as he was missing his best friend a lot.

Lan Wangji did not understand how he would live without his best friend for 3 months but after tossing and turning in bed for 2 hours he was able to fall asleep with great difficulty as he was also very tired from the journey and fell into a deep sleep.

Chapter 11: Family Drama-1

Chapter Text

Jiang Family got ready to go to Cloud Recess early in the morning, everyone was wearing beautiful purple clothes but Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng were wearing white dresses with blue lotus embroidery on their shoulder.

Lan Wangji had a red ribbon in his hair and Wei Wuxian had tied a white ribbon on his forehead, he had also covered half of his face so that no one would get attracted to his beauty.

Lan Wangji held Wei Wuxian's hand and slowly brought him downstairs to have breakfast and the whole family had breakfast together.

After breakfast the whole family left for Cloud Recess, Wei Wuxian could not see so they arranged a mule for him on which he was sitting comfortably and enjoying the cool breeze around, although he could not see anything but he could feel everything.

Lan Wangji covered half of Wei Wuxian's face so that no one would look at his beauty and even put a big hat on his friend's head so that the sun would not damage his beautiful milky skin.

At the gate of Cloud Recess, Lan disciples checked everyone's invitation cards and ordered them to enter.

Jiang Fengmian was the leader of his Yunmeng Jiang sect so everyone who accompanied him also got an invitation for entry.

Jiang Fengmian asked Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng to first check their luggage in their rooms and then come back, so the two boys immediately left to check their luggage in their assigned quarters.

Jiang Fengmian took his family members and sect disciples then he headed towards the meeting hall, where all the sect leaders held their meetings.

Wei Wuxian had taken off his hat and hung it behind his back and he was walking with his stick when he accidentally bumped into Nie Huaisang and he was about to fall but Nie Mingjue quickly caught him.

Nie Mingjue was a little surprised when he saw the Lan forehead ribbon on Wei Wuxian's forehead because the colour of this person's dress was purple but he immediately noticed that this person could not see.

Wei Wuxian immediately smiled and said, "Sorry young master, I can't see so if I made you feel more uncomfortable then I apologize."

Nie Mingjue wanted to see Wei Wuxian's hidden face behind mask because he found this ger boy's voice very sweet but Jiang Fengmian came forward and signaled Jiang Yanli to take Wei Wuxian with her.

After formally greeting each other, Nie Mingjue and Jiang Fengmian both came towards the meeting hall where everyone had taken their respective seats.

Nie Huaisang was also a ger boy so he had come here to drop his elder brother because Nie Mingjue was called here for a few days as a guess teacher, so he was coming back towards the meeting hall after keeping his luggage in the assign quarters.

Nie Mingjue was around 25 years old and his younger brother Nie Huaisang was around 16 years old and both of them had come here with their father Sect Leader Nie who was already present in the meeting hall.

Jiang Cheng was 16 years old as he was a year older than Wei Wuxian, now both he and Lan Wangji had returned to the meeting hall after putting their luggage in the quarters and had sat down next to the people of their sect.

Nie Mingjue was looking at Wei Wuxian repeatedly as he was laughing and talking to his elder sister when Lan Wangji suddenly came and sat next to the ger boy.

Nie Huaisang started winking at Jiang Cheng as soon as he saw him because both of them liked each other for a long time and used to get happy seeing each other secretly in the meetings but till today both of them had not expressed their feelings to each other.

Lan Qiren had suddenly arrived there followed by his two elder sons Lan Xichen and Lan Jingyi who were around 20 and 18 years old respectively.

As soon as Lan Xichen entered the meeting room, his first sight went to the ger boy Jin Guangyao who was 6 months pregnant and he was sitting behind his father Jin Guangshan.

Lan Qiren made a face on seeing Jin Guangyao but then he went forward and sat on his seat.

Lan Xichen and Lan Jingyi both went and sat next to their father on the left and right hand side, then all the sect leaders started talking among themselves and they were introducing the Lan family to the members of their respective families.

Suddenly Jin Guangshan was present there with his sons, out of which he first stood up and introduced his elder son Jin Zixuan and after that he also told everyone about Jin Guangyao who was a ger boy.

Jin Guangshan looked at Lan Xichen with a sharp gaze and said, "Sect Leader Lan, my son Jin Guangshan is 6 months pregnant so I want you to consider marrying him to your eldest son as soon as possible."

Lan Qiren stroked his thin beard and said softly, "Sect Leader Jin, your son Jin Guangshan forcefully mixed intoxicants in my eldest son's dinner after which they both had an illicit relationship. Your son did everything with planning so as a punishment he will be accepted into our Lan clan only after 1 year of his child's birth."

Jin Guangyao's eyes were filled with tears because he had actually deliberately given intoxicants to Lan Xichen in order to marry into the influential Lan family after which they both had physical relations one night by deceit so he regretted his mistakes a lot.

Lan Xichen wanted to marry Jiang Yanli but Jin Guangyao out of jealousy tricked him during a sect conference meeting ceremony and he became pregnant overnight.

Jin Guangshan looked at his son angrily because it was considered very shameful to get pregnant without marriage but his eldest successor Jin Zixuan also liked Jiang Yanli very much so he supported his ger son in this despicable act.

Jin Guangshan turned to Jiang Fengmian and bowed down and said, "Sect Leader Jiang, my eldest son Jin Zixuan who is going to take over my Lanling sect in the future has fallen in love with your daughter so he wants to send a wedding proposal to marry Jiang Yanli right now."

Jiang Yanli was extremely blushing as she had the opportunity to meet Jin Zixuan quite frequently at various sect meetings and she had slowly started to develop feelings of love for the heir to the Jin clan.

Jiang Fengmian looked at his eldest daughter Jiang Yanli who was blushing with her face down then he softly asked her, "Jiang Yanli, would you like to get engaged to Jin Zixuan? Would you accept this marriage proposal? I don't want to make any decision without your consent so I will only approve this relationship if you agree."

Jiang Yanli smiled shyly and said to her father, "Father, I like Young Master Jin very much so if you want to get us engaged then I have no objection to it."

Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian were both very happy because they always knew that whenever Jiang Yanli came back home from a conference meeting, she would keep talking about Jin Zixuan all day, due to which they were also very happy to hear about their shijie's engagement.

Jin Guangshan and Jiang Fengmian both took advantage of the opportunity to make their son and daughter's engagement official, so everyone suddenly started congratulating them.

Jin Zixuan and Jiang Yanli both were very happy to see each other secretly, but Lan Xichen was very sad because of Jin Guangyao, he was seeing his first crush getting betrothed to someone else right in front of him.

Jiang Cheng jokingly gestured Nie Huaisang if he should discuss his engagement here but Nie Huaisang hinted at him to not even think of doing something like that or else his elder brother would kill him.

Nie Mingjue's eyes shifted from the drama to Wei Wuxian, so he immediately greeted Jiang Fengmian and asked, "Sect Leader Jiang, who have you brought with you today? He has the Lan Sect's sacred ribbon tied on his forehead but his clothes are the purple color of your Jiang sect. Can I know the name of this beautiful ger boy because as far as I have observed, the reason for hiding his beauty is that he is a ger boy?"

Suddenly, there was a sense of mystery in the air and all eyes were on Wei Wuxian because no one had ever seen this boy inside any conference meeting before today.

The Lan family was also looking at Wei Wuxian closely because the ger boy had their Gusu Lan sect's sacred ribbon tied on his forehead but his clothes did not match their sect at all.

Chapter 12: Family Drama-2

Chapter Text

Wei Wuxian had no interest in listening to everyone's conversation, instead he was busy talking to Lan Wangji but then he took out the Labubu doll from his bag and scared his friend.

Suddenly everyone got scared seeing such a scary thing in Wei Wuxian's hand because they thought maybe there was an attack or something wrong happened here

Lan Wangji was scared to see Labubu and shouted loudly, then all the people of Lan Family immediately took out their swords from their sheaths and held them in their hands because they felt that the scary doll in Wei Wuxian's hand could be a symbol of some black magic.

Lan Wangji saw that due to his sudden shout, everyone was scared and they were about to attack Wei Wuxian.

Lan Wangji also immediately held his friend in his arms then Wei Wuxian did not understand at all what had happened suddenly, so he was very confused.

Immediately after taking his best friend in his arms, Lan Wangji took out his sword bichen from the sheath and was ready to fight everyone, when Wei Wuxian suddenly started laughing loudly.

Wei Wuxian said jokingly, "Lan Wangji, you are still afraid of my cute doll. Despite how cute Labubu is, you are still afraid of my beautiful doll."

Wei Wuxian's smile was so charming that Nie Mingjue laughed loudly and looked at the Lan family and said, "It seems that Young Master was joking with his friend but you all don't need to scare him suddenly."

Jiang Cheng got angery on this silly prank and he was about to hit Wei Wuxian on the head when Lan Wangji extended his hand and saved his friend.

Jiang Cheng got a little angry at his friend and said, "Wei Wuxian, you keep thinking of mischievous pranks all the time. How can you joke even in such a serious situation?"

Wei Wuxian immediately presented Labubu in front of Jiang Cheng to make him scare, after which he looked at his cousin brother angrily and said, "One day I will steal this scary doll and hang it on a tree."

Wei Wuxian immediately hugged Labubu doll and hid it in his chest and said, "Jiang Cheng, beware if you do anything wrong with my cute doll. If you take my doll away from me, I will burn down your entire library."

Jiang Cheng's face suddenly turned red with shame because he felt shy as soon as he remembered the book that was in the library, then his father Jiang Fengmian asked him, "Does my son have a library of books? I have never seen a library."

Jiang Cheng suddenly got nervous and said, "Father, don't pay any attention to what Wei Wuxian says, he is crazy. If he can joke even in such a serious meeting, then he can say anything."

Wei Wuxian was about to argue again when Lan Wangji put his hand over his mouth as the meeting hall was being disturbed by their antics, so his ger friend also became quiet now.

Nie Mingjue was smiling seeing Wei Wuxian making all sorts of faces when Lan Qiren's voice echoed throughout the meeting hall, drawing everyone's attention.

Lan Qiren asked in a loud voice, "Sect Leader Jiang, who is this teenager wearing the Lan Sect's sacred ribbon on his forehead?"

Jiang Fengmian immediately replied with a smile, "This is Wei Wuxian, the only son of Wei Changze and Cangse Sanren."

Wei Wuxian's face was covered with mask but he still smiled widely and bowed to everyone since he couldn't see and didn't have much of a clue as to the direction.

Lan Wangji had let go of Wei Wuxian's hand but still held on to him when Lan Qiren asked another question, "Why is Wei Wuxian wearing the Lan Sect's sacred ribbon on his forehead and whose sacred ribbon is this?"

Lan Wangji immediately bowed to everyone and replied, "Elder Master Lan, my name is Lan Wangji and the ribbon my friend has tied on his forehead is my sacred ribbon. I willingly gave my forehead ribbon to Wei Wuxian to tie on his forehead."

Lan Qiren immediately got up from his seat and said, "Are you the son of Qinghen-jun and Lan Yi? Are you Lan Wangji, the third prince of our Lan clan? Were you separated from your parents at the age of 6?"

Lan Wangji was shocked as he did not remember any of his previous childhood memories so he immediately replied in surprise, "Elder Master Lan, my parents were named Lan Qinghen-jun and Lan Yi and my house was called Jingshi but apart from that I don't remember anything."

Lan Qiren was shocked and immediately stood up from his seat and came to his lost nephew and said, "Lan Wangji, have you forgotten me? I am your uncle Lan Qiren who taught you how to use a calligraphy brush when you were a child. Where have you been all these years? After your parents died, I looked for you everywhere but I couldn't find you anywhere."

Lan Xichen and Lan Jingyi also immediately ran to him because they were so happy to see their lost cousin that Lan Wangji looked at everyone and said, "After my parents died, Uncle Jiang Fengmian took me to Yunmeng. I'm sorry Elder Master Lan but I don't remember anything about my original family."

Lan Qiren's eyes became slightly moist as he saw his elder brother's son in front of him after so many years, whom he had thought was dead for so many years.

Lan Qiren immediately grabbed both of Lan Wangji's shoulders and said, "Lan Wangji, I am glad that I have got the chance to meet you again through this program. Now that you have returned home to Cloud Recess, you have to take responsibility for your home and fulfill your duty as the third prince of Gusu Lan sect."

Lan Wangji was very confused when Lan Xichen smiled and said, "Lan Wangji, I am your elder cousin brother Lan Xichen and your uncle's elder son. I am very happy to meet you because we were looking for you for many years but could not find any evidence about you. There came a time when everyone started thinking that you are no longer alive in this world but luckily we have found you back. Lan Wangji, now you have to stay here in Cloud Recess and fulfill all the responsibilities of your late father because our Lan sect is incomplete without you. Only the three of us brothers can take care of this sect in the future, so I want to hold a grand party to celebrate your return."

Lan Wangji was very confused as to why these unknown faces were so happy to see him and the second thing was that he never wanted to be away from his best friend Wei Wuxian, so the expressions on his face were clearly telling that he did not want to stay in his uncle's Gusu Lan sect at any cost.

Wei Wuxian pulled at Lan Wangji's clothes and said lovingly, "Lan Wangji, I am so happy for you now that you have finally found your long lost family after all these years. I never thought that my friend would be the Third Prince of Gusu because hearing this title makes me feel so good. Now that you have become The Third Lan Prince, you must have a lot of wealth, so can you lend me some money from that because I need to buy myself a lot of new toys."

Lan Wangji was at a loss for words as he would not stay in his parents' sect at any cost because he had come here thinking of only staying for 3 months but Wei Wuxian was so happy to hear him being given the title of Third Prince Lan that he was becoming even more frustrated.

Seeing Wei Wuxian's bright smile, Lan Wangji felt angry for the first time in his life because how could his friend congratulate him for being away from him, so he quickly snatched the Labubu doll from his friend's hand forcefully and threw it away in anger.

Chapter 13: Labubu's Funeral

Chapter Text

Wei Wuxian shouted loudly, "Lan Wangji, give me my Labubu doll back. How dare you take my doll away from me."

Wei Wuxian's childhood emotions were attached to his scary doll and he loved his doll very much but Lan Wangji's eyes were filled with anger.

Lan Wangji angrily asked in a serious tone, "Wei Wuxian, today you have to choose between me and this ugly looking Labubu doll of yours."

Wei Wuxian thought it was a joke so he deliberately made a face and replied, "Of course, I will find many friends like you but there is no one as special as Labubu. Return my Labubu doll quietly or else no one will be worse off than me."

Lan Wangji's eyes were filled with anger as he asked angrily, "Wei Wuxian, do you really think that you can find more friends like me but you can never find this scary doll again? Will it not matter to you if I leave your life? Will you give up on me so easily? You always said that I am your best friend, so you will leave me for a doll? I came into your life as your best friend, so how can you be happy about me being the third prince when you know that this may separate us forever?"

Wei Wuxian did not understand the seriousness of the situation so he again made a face and replied, "Lan Wangji, my doll is the most precious thing to me and I can give up my friendship with anyone for my Labubu. If you are the third prince then you should live with your family and bring me lots of toys as per the rules. You are my best friend but I cannot keep you tied to me everywhere so quietly return my doll because Labubu is the most important thing to me."

Lan Wangji was so annoyed by Wei Wuxian's joke that he pulled out his sword bichen and he immediately lifted the doll into the air and cut it into many pieces.

When Wei Wuxian realized that something was wrong, he immediately asked in panic, "Lan Wangji, who did you just point your sword at? Where is my Labubu doll?"

Lan Wangji handed Wei Wuxian over 100 pieces of the Labubu doll and said, "Wei Wuxian, you loved this doll more than me, right? I destroyed your beloved doll. If you want me to stay here, you can take the pieces of this doll with you."

As soon as Wei Wuxian felt the pieces of his most beloved doll in his hands, tears started flowing from his eyes and then he hugged the pieces of his doll to his chest and started crying loudly.

Wei Wuxian started crying loudly and screaming, "Labubu, you can't leave me. My doll, I love you the most and you are my favorite, so you can't leave me. Lan Wangji, you are too mean because you broke my most beloved doll into pieces. Now I will never talk to you again and you stay here and never come back because you are a selfish person who destroyed my beloved doll. What harm did Labubu do to you that you destroyed my beloved doll without even thinking once about how many memories I have attached to it. You are a stone-hearted person who has only stone instead of a heart. From today onwards, I will not tolerate you at all because you are a murderer. You have killed my doll Labubu ruthlessly and brutally, so I will never forgive you."

Jiang Cheng immediately took care of his cousin and scolded his friend saying, "Lan Wangji, what have you done, when you know how much Wei Wuxian is attached to his scary doll since childhood, despite that you broke his doll into pieces. You shouldn't have done all this in anger because you know that my brother has always had a habit of joking, how can you do this despite that."

Lan Wangji left for his quarter because his blood was boiling and he was regretting coming to his quarter because Wei Wuxian was very attached to his scary doll in this world.

Lan Wangji had vandalised his room a bit but then he went and sat on his bed to calm his anger for a while but he was feeling suffocated.

Lan Wangji was very angry and he was not able to tolerate the rejection from Wei Wuxian at any cost but on the other hand Wei Wuxian was crying badly inside the meeting hall and the mask was removed from his face.

Seeing Wei Wuxian's beautiful red crying face made everyone including Nie Mingjue's heart very sad as he was crying very loudly while hugging his doll pieces to his chest.

Jiang Yanli tried to calm Wei Wuxian down for a long time but it was with great difficulty that he calmed down after crying for half an hour but he was still holding the pieces of his doll to his chest.

Wei Wuxian immediately asked his uncle to go back because he wanted to pay tribute to his doll's death and bury his doll as soon as possible and he did not feel like staying here at all.

Jiang Fengmian immediately said goodbye to Jiang Cheng and left for his Yunmeng sect because Wei Wuxian was adamant to go back home as soon as possible.

Wei Wuxian did not talk to anyone the whole way because he was mourning the death of his scary Labubu doll and everyone could tell by looking at him how deeply shocked he was at the moment.

That very evening, they left for home and by the next morning, they all reached Lotus Pier and the first thing they did was to dig a grave for Wei Wuxian's doll after Labubu's death and bury it.

Wei Wuxian had a proper funeral for his doll and also organized a mourning ceremony with boiled rice and wine for three days in which he wore only white clothes and mourned a lot.

On the other hand, Lan Wangji was very angry because no one came to say goodbye to him.

Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng both had also fought with each other because Wei Wuxian's cousin brother could not see him sad, so there was a very heated argument between the two.

Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng both did not talk to each other for almost a week but within a week everything was fine between them.

Jiang Cheng received letters from his family in which each member of the family wrote that they were all waiting for him to return to Yunmeng, but the letters for Lan Wangji were all from people asking about when he would return except for Wei Wuxian.

Lan Wangji was gradually getting more and more angry with Wei Wuxian because not a single letter was written to him.

In this way 3 months had passed and till now he had not talked to his best friend even once in a letter.

Wei Wuxian was waiting for Lan Wangji to say sorry but his friend had never apologized to him so he also never asked anything in the letter out of anger.

Wei Wuxian had become very lonely after Labubu left but he missed Lan Wangji a lot during his periods but due to anger he had not written a letter to his friend even once.

Slowly, a full 3 months had passed so now it was time for Lan Wangji and Jiang Cheng to return.

Wei Wuxian would ask everyone everyday when they would finally return but no one had any idea when they would return to Yunmeng city after the completion of 3 months.

Everyone's wait was over when Jiang Fengmian went to get Jiang Cheng and Lan Wangji from Gusu but as soon as they returned to the Lotus Pier, everyone's happiness knew no bounds but Wei Wuxian was sitting in the nearby garden just to deliberately show anger.

Wei Wuxian was listening attentively to everyone's conversation when he suddenly got the biggest shock when he learned that Jiang Cheng had been brought back by his father Jiang Fengmian but Lan Wangji had decided to stay in Gusu Lan sect.

Chapter 14: Hope

Chapter Text

Wei Wuxian was expecting his friend Lan Wangji to return to their sect after 3 months but when that didn't happen he was very disappointed so he went back to his room without saying anything, with the help of his stick.

Wei Wuxian's eyes were filled with tears when Jiang Cheng came up to him from behind and said, "Are you angry at me too? I've returned after 3 months but you didn't come to meet me."

Tears rolled down Wei Wuxian's eyes and seeing this Jiang Cheng immediately hugged him because he knew how sad his cousin was.

Wei Wuxian suddenly burst into tears but Jiang Cheng held him tight because he knew that his cousin brother was very delicate and no matter how much fun his brother had but he always cared for everyone in his family from the bottom of his heart.

Jiang Cheng wiped away the tears from Wei Wuxian's eyes and said, "Stop worrying about it because Lan Wangji is now the third prince of Gusu and he has a lot of responsibilities. Wei Wuxian, he can no longer stay with us as he has to learn the ways of his Lan sect and do a lot of work for his sect in the future."

Wei Wuxian looked like a cute doll as he innocently said, "Lan Wangji hasn't even apologized to me yet and he has forgotten me after moving to Gusu. He hasn't even written me a letter yet but how can he forget our friendship so easily."

Jiang Cheng wiped Wei Wuxian's tears away and said lovingly, "You are worrying for nothing because Lan Wangji has been working day and night to learn all the fighting skills of his Lan sect and he has also got a lot of workload since he is not only your friend but also the Third Prince of the Gusu Lan sect. You know your friend wanted to come to see you but his uncle Lan Qiren refused to let him come for the time being and he could not go against his family members after so long."

Wei Wuxian asked innocently, "Will he come to see me later?"

Jiang Cheng smiled and replied, "Lan Wangji will come back here soon after finishing all his studies and the first thing he will do is to meet you because do you think he will be happy there without you. He too has been missing you every moment and I am sure he will come running to see you as soon as he gets leave."

Wei Wuxian's heart had been very heavy for the last 3 months but after listening to Jiang Cheng's words, he felt much more relaxed and again went to the ground with his stick where he was scaring many disciples with his stick.

When Jiang Cheng saw the smile on Wei Wuxian's face again, he felt a little better but one thing that he had hidden from everyone was that Lan Wangji was now given the title of the Third Prince of Gusu, so now even if he wanted, he could not leave his sect and come here forever.

Seeing the dilemma in Wei Wuxian's mind, Jiang Cheng did not tell him the whole truth because he knew that his cousin did not have the ability to bear the truth because he would get emotional even on small things.

Wei Wuxian was playing with all the little children in the ground and whoever played with him, he used to scare them by showing his stick but today he was happy that maybe soon Lan Wangji would come back to meet him.

*****

**Few Months Later**

It was Lan Wangji's birthday so he was given a day off from his Gusu Lan sect duties today, so he was sitting inside his house Jingshi in Cloud Recess and painting.

In Jingshi's study room, there were a lot of papers spread all over with drawings of different things and all these drawings were of none other than his best friend Wei Wuxian.

There are many paintings of Wei Wuxian walking with his stick, or in some paintings he is dancing happily on his bed, in some paintings he is seen running away in fear from the monkeys or scaring them by showing them his doll Labubu.

Lan Wangji had not forgotten his friend for even a minute in the past few months, instead he made a painting of Wei Wuxian every day and put it on the walls of his room in his new house Jingshi.

Suddenly, Lan Wangji's uncle and cousin brother Lan Xichen came to meet him, so he first stood up and greeted both of them because both of them were holding a huge box which was covered with a red silk cloth.

Lan Xichen first put a big box in Lan Wangji's hand and said with a smile, "Lan Wangji, many congratulations to you on your 16th birthday and I wish you success in everything you do in life. These gifts came to you from Yunmeng and the people there have sent you a lot of gifts on the occasion of your birthday."

Lan Qiren handed Lan Wangji a huge red envelope and said, "Lan Wangji, if your parents were alive today, they would have given you this red envelope, but instead, I am giving you this envelope. You should open it and see."

When Lan Wangji opened the envelope, he saw that there was a seal made in the name of the Third Prince of Gusu Lan Sect, which made his order as high as that of the other princes of his Lan sect, so he felt very emotional seeing such an official Prince seal on his 16th birthday.

Lan Qiren placed his hand on Lan Wangji's shoulder and smiled as he blessed him on the head.

Lan Qiren  said, "Son, from now on you will have the right to make all the decisions of the Lan sect. The prestige of the Lan family will also be in your hands as you are the third prince of our Gusu Lan sect and will be the source of inspiration for our future generations. Lan Wangji, today I am also giving you a jade token that will allow you to use the wealth your parents have saved up for many years. Today I am returning your inheritance to you."

Lan Wangji was surprised when his uncle placed a jade token in his hands, this token was only given to members of the Gusu royal family who could use their parents' wealth in the future.

Lan Wangji was emotionally looking at that jade token for a long time because he had probably seen something like this with his late father in his childhood, so he immediately bowed down in front of his uncle.

Lan Wangji said, "Uncle, you have accepted me into our Lan sect even after so many years and entrusted such a big responsibility on me. I will never let you down and will always use the wealth earned by my parents for good deeds. I will never let the prestige and honor of my clan bow down."

Lan Qiren immediately smiled after seeing Lan Wangji's emotional eyes and he said, "Lan Wangji, I know my child that you have been a very obedient son and nephew since childhood, so I feel very proud of you. Son, now you should start wearing our Lan sect's ribbon on your forehead because a true Lan sect person cannot let anyone else touch his sacred forehead ribbon before marriage."

Lan Wangji shyly and a little hesitantly said to his uncle, "Uncle, I have chosen my life partner and Wei Wuxian is the person to whom I have given my sacred forehead ribbon."

Lan Qiren pinched Lan Wangji's nose lovingly and said, "Lan Wangji, it seems you have grown up now so you have the right to choose your life partner but I have to follow the rules of the Lan sect so I will soon give you a new sacred forehead ribbon which you can wear and carry out your duties. I have no objection if your childhood forehead ribbon remains with your future life partner as well, because if you have chosen him, then your happiness will be the happiness of our entire community."

Lan Xichen was looking at Lan Wangji because his younger brother had the ability to speak freely about his love and if he had also mentioned his love to his father in time, then perhaps his condition would have been completely different today.

Lan Xichen immediately took out a Lan sect's sacred forehead ribbon from his pocket and gave it to Lan Wangji.

Seeing this, everyone's eyes were shocked because they had already suspected something, so Lan Xichen had deliberately got a new Lan sacred forehead ribbon made specially for Lan Wangji.

Lan Wangji looked at Lan Xichen and bowed down and said, "Brother, you have already got a sacred forehead ribbon made for me. I want to thank you very much."

Lan Xichen gave a broken smile and said, "Lan Wangji, if I as your elder brother cannot understand your feelings then I will not be able to run this great Lan sect. When I saw your sacred ribbon on someone else's forehead, I suspected that you may have started liking ger boy in your heart, so I immediately got another sacred ribbon made for you."

Chapter 15: Birthday Surprise

Chapter Text

Suddenly a Lan disciple had come there to call both Lan Xichen and Lan Qiren, so both of them left after saying goodbye.

Lan Wangji wore his Lan sect's sacred ribbon on his forehead for the first time after so many years, but he was smiling after looking at his face in the mirror because his reflection was exactly like his late father Lan Qinghen-jun.

When Lan Wangji was looking at himself in the mirror, he saw a big red box in which there were many birthday gifts for him from Yunmeng Jiang sect.

Lan Wangji was a little sad as he wondered if his best friend had sent him gifts, "Wei Wuxian, do you remember my birthday? Are you still angry at me? I have followed your advice and learned to take on all the responsibilities of the Third Prince Lan. Will you ever forgive me for cutting up that scary doll of yours out of anger because I felt so jealous whenever you held it? No one else can be close to you except me."

Lan Wangji turned back and slowly unwrapped the red silk cloth and began to open the large box, on top of which was a beautiful gold sash that Jiang Fengmian and Madam Yu had gifted him.

Lan Wangji picked up the gold waistband and placed it aside then there was a beautiful white robe that Jiang Yanli had hand-embroidered using silk and silver thread even there was a beautiful pattern of a lotus and a cloud on the elegant white robe.

Lan Wangji pulled out a pair of books wrapped in paper from below, it was an adult magazine that Jiang Cheng had sent him from his small library collection and look at this book, his ears turned red instantly.

Jiang Cheng also left a handwritten note, "Lan Wangji, now that you are 16, I want you to learn about the another hidden desires. These books will give you a new guidance, and as your friend, I would like to give you my favorite book in my collection, which you can learn a lot from and it will be useful to you in the future after your marriage."

Lan Wangji looked inside the box and found a small gift with a lizard on it then he immediately tried to get the lizard away by using his hand gestures but the lizard was not moving, then he used his sword to pick up the lizard and saw that it was a fake lizard toy.

Lan Wangji then took out the last box and tried a lot to open it but it was not opening so he took out a small nut from nearby and as soon as he opened the box, he suddenly screamed and fell backwards because a huge fake snake suddenly came out of the box.

Lan Wangji's heartbeat suddenly increased and then he saw that there were a lot of sweets inside the box which were sent for him by none other than Wei Wuxian on purpose because he did not eat much sweets but his friend who was still angry with him had deliberately sent sweets for him as a birthday gift.

Lan Wangji was now laughing out loud after looking at the fake lizard and snake because the only person who could joke with him like this was his dear friend Wei Wuxian, otherwise no one had ever joked with him like this before.

Lan Wangji had a sweet smile on his face as he quickly took a piece of the dessert and slowly started eating it in his mouth as he felt as if he was inside the Lotus Pier.

Lan Wangji smiled softly, "I miss you so much Wei Wuxian. I'll come pick you up as soon as I will complete my work as The Third Prince of Gusu Lan Sect."

Lan Wangji found a note among the sweets then he opened it and began to read, "Lan Wangji, you still haven't apologized to me but my heart is bigger than yours so I am sending you my favorite sweets as your birthday gift. I will wait for you to return and whenever you return, bring me lots of toys or else I will beat you with my stick and drive you away. I want a lot of gifts on my 16th birthday too but this time don't be stingy in giving gifts. Labubu's best friend Wei Wuxian."

Lan Wangji used to get angry on hearing the name of Labubu but he immediately hugged this letter to his heart because at one time he was really scared that maybe Wei Wuxian would never forgive him from now on but his friend still had a lot of childishness.

Lan Wangji immediately kept the gifts sent by everyone in his wardrobe one by one but he kept the gift sent by Wei Wuxian on his shelf and kept the sweets sent by him safely with him.

Although Lan Wangji's house was filled with very simple things but the fake lizards and snakes kept inside it looked very strange but he made a new painting of Wei Wuxian and put it near the photo of them in which Wei Wuxian was holding the creepy doll Labubu in his hand.

Lan Wangji had embroidered two beautiful dolls with his own hands but it looked much cuteer instead of scary but it took him a lot of time to make it because he had made all the details neatly and carefully with his own hands so that both the dolls looked very beautiful and a lovely glimpse of their friendship was also clearly visible in them.

Lan Wangji had made two dolls that looked like Wei Wuxian and himself that would never be separated from each other, so looking at them, he was thinking that, "Wei Wuxian, you don't need to keep an ugly looking Labubu doll with you anymore because I have made two beautiful and cute dolls for you that you can keep with you all the time. I am eagerly waiting to meet you and I will surprise you with lots of gifts on your 16th birthday but till then do wait for me because I have planned something special for you."

Chapter 16: Wedding

Chapter Text

**Wei Wuxian's 16th Birthday**

There was a loud screaming sound coming from the Lotus House because inside the room in front of Aunt Xiao Yu and Jiang Cheng, a person was crying like a baby and it was none other than birthday boy Wei Wuxian.

On Wei Wuxian's birthday, a big pimple had appeared on his nose which made him feel as if his beauty had been spoiled because today after such a long time, Lan Wangji was going to come to meet him with his whole family.

Wei Wuxian couldn't see his face in front of the mirror because of blindness but he felt as if a small demon had sat on his nose because this pimple on his nose looked exactly like a demon to him.

Wei Wuxian pouted with his moist eyes and puffy lips and kept sobbing and said, "Lan Wangji and his whole family are coming to meet me today but I must look so bad. Aunt Xiao Yu, what if the Lan family refuses to take me with them and says that my nose is not pretty at all?"

Wei Wuxian was dressed like a bride in a red dress in front of the mirror and he was also wearing a lot of gold jewellery on his head because he was going to get married today.

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian's families had decided that the ger boy will get married on his 16th birthday but they will not be allowed to come close to each other until they are 18 years old.

Wei Wuxian was very tensed about what would happen if the Lan family refuses the marriage after seeing the pimple on his nose.

Jiang Cheng put his hand on Wei Wuxian's shoulder and said with a smile, "Wei Wuxian, you two decided to get married so quickly and now you are making so much excuse about this pimple. I think you are making all these excuses because you don't want to get married. I will go and tell the Lan family that you are making excuses to avoid getting married and they will break off this marriage on their own."

Wei Wuxian immediately got scared and quietly said, "Jiang Cheng, it's not that I don't want to get married but I am afraid that what will I do if Lan Wangji refuses to recognize me because of the ugly pimple on my nose?"

Jiang Cheng burst the pimple on Wei Wuxian's nose by pressing it with both his thumbs and scolded him, "Wei Wuxian, You had a small pimple on your nose, this will not change your face at all because you have not done any plastic surgery on your face, due to which people will stop recognizing you. I have been noticing your drama since morning but now if you create a little more drama, I will pour cold water on you."

Jiang Cheng paused for a moment before fixing a pin in Wei Wuxian’s hair again and said, "Wei Wuxian, the wedding procession is going to arrive in 20 minutes so fix your appearance and come out quietly or else I will cancel your wedding."

Wei Wuxian immediately asked his aunt Xiao Yu to put on makeup because he knew that Jiang Cheng was upset seeing his drama since morning and now he could really cancel the wedding, so he quietly got ready and sat in his room.

The Lan family arrived with the wedding procession at the main gate of Lotus Pier in just 20 minutes.

After this, they were welcomed in a grand manner at the main gate and arrangements were made for the entire wedding procession to rest for some time and also had refreshments in the garden of Lotus Pier.

Lan Wangji was brought down from his horse by Jiang Cheng and everyone was sitting in the garden and having refreshments and then all of them were given various kinds of drinks as well as snacks to eat.

Lan Wangji was given a lot of expensive things in the name of dowry but his prestigious Lan family refused to accept anything and even gave a lot of gifts to the ger boy's family.

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian were getting married first as compared to everyone else but their grand wedding reception will be held after completing the wedding rituals in Cloud Recess.

After having breakfast, the Lan family, after exchanging gifts, went back with the wedding procession to the doorstep of the Lotus Pier and now Wei Wuxian was being brought by Jiang Yanli and Madam Yu to sit in the palanquin wearing the royal wedding dress.

Wei Wuxian could not see anything because his eyes could not see but he was enjoying a lot and after reaching the doorstep of his house comfortably, he hugged everyone and said goodbye and sat in his marriage palanquin.

Lan Wangji was also riding a horse and leading his wedding procession and all his family members were following him on horses but at the end was Wei Wuxian's palanquin and all the gifts were also coming behind him.

Wei Wuxian thought marriage meant getting a lot of gifts and along with that living with his best friend for the rest of his life but he still did not know many deep meanings of marriage so everything would be explained to him only after going to Gusu.

Wei Wuxian was sitting inside his palanquin, sometimes drinking juice and sometimes eating something because for him marriage meant having a lot of fun and eating a lot of food.

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian both reached Cloud Recess at 10:00 pm and they were first taken to the ancestral hall where the wedding rituals were performed but to Wei Wuxian everything felt like a new and fun celebration.

Lan Wangji's heart was beating fast during the wedding rituals because he had been reading the books given by Jiang Cheng for a long time so he had a lot of different thoughts in his mind but after the wedding was over, everyone was having a grand feast together.

Before Lan Wangji, Wei Wuxian was taken to the gentian house by Lan ger's disciple but Lan Wangji was asked to go and sleep in Jingshi and along with him, both his elder cousin brothers were also going to stay in his house tonight.

When Lan Xichen noticed the confusion on Lan Wangji's face, he looked very upset after being away from his bride, he lovingly told him, "Lan Wangji, until Wei Wuxian turns 18, you both will have to live in separate houses like this. Now that you both are married and you both have grown up, you can talk to him during the day but you will not be allowed to stay with him at night until he turns 18."

Lan Wangji's ears had turned completely red and he softly said, "Brother, Uncle had already explained everything to me but I am sad that I have not even seen him today and I have not been able to wish him on his birthday. We both will be so busy with the wedding preparations that I just want to give him a birthday gift once."

Lan Xichen and Lan Jingyi immediately looked at each other and said to their younger brother, "Lan Wangji, if you want to wish him a happy birthday, we will take you to him but you have to come in and out within 2 minutes. If our father finds out that we secretly introduced you, we will both be severely punished."

Lan Wangji immediately became happy and said, "Brother, don't worry because this much time will be enough for me because I want to wish him on his birthday."

The three of them reached outside Gentian House immediately and then they called out to Wei Wuxian and called him towards the doorstep.

Wei Wuxian walked towards the doorstep with the help of a personal servant carrying a stick in his hand, then Lan Wangji immediately saw the veil on his face and removed it with his hands.

Lan Wangji smiled at Wei Wuxian and first of all said, "Many congratulations to you on your 16th birthday today. You have become my official wife. Wei Wuxian, you look so beautiful in your wedding dress. I can't believe that today we have married each other and become each other's life partners for life."

One of Lan Wangji's disciples was carrying a red silk bag with him since morning, then he immediately asked for that bag from that disciple.

Lan Wangji handed Wei Wuxian the red silk bag and said, "Wei Wuxian, I'm sorry I ruined your doll Labubu in anger, so I made a new birthday gift for you with my own hands. Forgive me for whatever I did, but now I want you to keep this gift with you forever."

Lan Wangji kissed Wei Wuxian on the forehead and left with his two brothers.

Wei Wuxian got excited and opened the red silk bag as soon as he came inside and found two cute dolls whose shape looked exactly like him and Lan Wangji.

Wei Wuxian hugged both the dolls given by Lan Wangji to his chest and he knew how soft these dolls were and he could sleep with them hugged to his chest, so a cute smile came on his face.

Chapter 17: Tea Ceremony

Chapter Text

Wei Wuxian was woken up early the next day at 5:00 AM and two Lan ger disciples helped him get ready again.

Wei Wuxian was still wearing marron coloured new bridal clothes and a sacred Lan ribbon on his forehead and lots of gold jewellery in his hair with a guan.

Wei Wuxian hung the two dolls given to him by Lan Wangji on his waist and he was swaying with the help of a stick as he walked out.

The two ger disciples were always alert in Wei Wuxian's service and they both were ready to help him out of any trouble just like his personal bodyguards.

Because Wei Wuxian was blind, he had to take care of others all the time, although he could do a lot of things on his own, he was still not used to the new place and so two disciples were assigned to guide him.

Lan Wangji along with all the Lan elder uncles and his elder cousin brothers, went to pick Wei Wuxian up from outside his gentian house.

Lan Wangji immediately holding Wei Wuxian's hand, they all went to the graves of their Lan Family's ancestors.

After the wedding, the Lan family offered the couple lots of food and incense at the graves of their Lan Family's ancestors.

After receiving the blessings of the ancestors, they all slowly headed towards the meeting hall to have morning breakfast.

In all traditional families, the groom's partner serves tea to the elders in the next morning after wedding, but due to Wei Wuxian's blindness, Lan Wangji had to do all the work in his place today.

After coming to the meeting hall, both of them slowly served tea to all the Lan elders while bowing to them.

Wei Wuxian used to chatter all day but Lan Wangji had already warned him not to have fun today even his uncle Jiang Fengmian and aunt Madam Yu, they both had also sent him Cloud Recess with instructions not to have fun for a few days or else if any rule of Gusu Lan Sect had broken then severe punishment will be given.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji made all the elders pleased over tea but after that when everyone was drinking tea, there was a slight sadness on Wei Wuxian's face.

Lan Qiren saw the sadness on Wei Wuxian's face and immediately asked, "Wei Wuxian, why is your face so sad?"

Wei Wuxian poutingly said without any hesitation, "Uncle, I heard that after marriage, I will gets a lot of gifts and toys but till now you people have not given me a single gift for marriage and my birthday. I really want to play with my new toys but till now you people are not giving me a gift, you are so stingy."

Lan Xichen was smiling at Wei Wuxian's innocence and immediately said, "Wei Wuxian, we were busy doing all the rituals till late last night so we forgot to give you a gift but by this evening everyone will give you a lot of gifts. You have to wait a little bit till this evening to receive the gift."

Wei Wuxian was very happy and immediately he held Lan Wangji's hand in front of everyone and told happily, "Lan Wangji gave me these two dolls yesterday on my birthday so you guys should also get me such beautiful gifts. I like small clay toys very much, I also had a dragon doll but someone stole it, so one of you should get me a dragon doll as well."

Seeing Wei Wuxian's innocence, everyone smiled but Lan Wangji's ears turned red with embarrassment when his elder brother Lan Jingyi said smilingly, "Wei Wuxian, my younger brother Lan Wangji prepared these two dolls for you with his own hands. Looks like my younger brother is going to become your devotee soon."

Wei Wuxian did not understand the words of the elders at all, so he smiled and replied, "Lan Wangji is a very good friend of mine, so he has brought me two dolls this time. Next time when I go out with him, we will not forget to bring another Labubu doll."

Lan Wangji felt so good seeing Wei Wuxian smiling, then he lovingly placed his hand on his beloved partner's head in front of everyone and caressed it, then the ger boy immediately said, "Lan Wangji, today I have made a new hairstyle, so don't spoil my hair. Madam Yu has told me that I have to dress up and roam around for a few days after the wedding because everyone in your Lan family lives in a civilized manner. Aunt Xiao Yu has told me to stay away from the grounds for a few days because whenever I go there and play with everyone, I often bring home my clothes dirty."

Lan Qiren and Lan Xichen both were smiling faintly, but Wei Wuxian said in front of everyone, "Uncle, I am also feeling hungry. Can I also have tea? Now because of you people, I have got up so early in the morning and got ready but no one asked me for tea. I want to eat something."

Lan Wangji immediately served tea to Wei Wuxian and said with a smile, "If you want to eat or drink something, you can tell me. I thought you would not drink tea early in the morning."

Wei Wuxian pouted and said, "Because of you, I am tired of walking so much in the morning. You are so bad, you did not ask me for tea even once. My stomach is small so it fills up quickly, so if I work too much, it also gets empty quickly."

Wei Wuxian's pouting was making Lan Wangji's heart beat faster again and again, but he wanted to control his mind for the time being.

After drinking tea, both of them were given complete freedom to roam inside Cloud Recess, so both of them went out to roam, but all the elders sitting behind were looking at both of them with a smile, how much innocence and childhood was still there in both of them.

Lan Jingyi told all the elders, "Respected Elders, I think for now we should give Wei Wuxian something as a birthday or wedding present that will make him feel comfortable living here. Lan Wangji's life partner is very childish right now so we should give him toys of his choice because it will be difficult for him to settle down in Cloud Recess until he gets used to this place. Wei Wuxian has now become a part of our Lan family and we have to love him like a family member but we have to give him more attention because he is still unaware of many rules of our Gusu Lan sect and he wants to live his life freely for now so I want all of you to not keep this innocent soul tied to too many rules and give him some freedom."

Lan Qiren stroked his beard and advised, "Lan Wangji is the third prince of our sect, so we should take special care of his partner because Wei Wuxian has lived a life of freedom in Yunmeng and I don't want the rules here to start suffocating him. I want to change some of the rules of our sect for the next generation of the Lan family because not every rule can be applied to every person and the person coming from outside should be given a little freedom because Wei Wuxian cannot see this world with his open eyes right now due to his blindness."

Some of the Lan elders agreed that this new member of their family should be given some freedom but some people were attached to conservative customs and had a completely different opinion.

All the people of the Lan family had given Wei Wuxian some freedom from the rules so that he did not have to follow unnecessary customs or rules due to his blindness.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji walked around the Cloud Recess holding each other's hands all day and the ger boy could recognize the Third Lan Prince's entire sect but even after walking around for the whole day, they were only able to explore 20% of the Cloud Recess.

As soon as Wei Wuxian entered the gentian house in the evening, his two bodyguards told him that all the sect elders had sent him a lot of gifts and he immediately got excited and started opening them one by one.

A group of 15 Lan disciples were sent to the caiyi town market for Wei Wuxian and all of them were asked to bring one pair of each toy available in the market due to which his gentian house's hall room was filled with lots of toys.

Wei Wuxian was very happy after getting so many gifts and he felt that he should marry Lan Wangji every year so that he could keep getting so many gifts again because he was feeling greedy after getting so many gifts.

Wei Wuxian was also showing off his many toys to Lan Wangji and his two bodyguard Lan disciples and playing with all the new toys until dinner time.

Lan Wangji was smiling as Wei Wuxian had decorated his bed with all the new toys so that he could sleep in bed with all his new toys today because for a ger boy, marriage means getting lots of presents.

Chapter 18: Cold Pond

Chapter Text

**One Month Later**

Lan Wangji had shown Wei Wuxian almost all of the area of Cloud Recess before the mountain, so every day after attending their classes, they would go out for a walk around and one day they heard the sound of so many disciples laughing aloud.

Wei Wuxian immediately asked, "There's so many disciples laughing. Is there any interesting place here that I haven't been to yet?"

Lan Wangji looked at a place behind the bushes and his ears were turning red so he replied in a stern voice, "Wei Wuxian, actually our sect has a cold pond where everyone goes to improve their inner strength. This cold pond is a very sacred place for us to activate our spiritual energy and our senses to the next level."

Wei Wuxian immediately got excited and asked, "Why didn't you tell me about this place before because I also want to go there and have fun inside this sacred cold pond. You can hear how much fun all the disciples are having there, so I want to go there now."

Lan Wangji could not do anything against Wei Wuxian's insistence, so he quietly took his hand and took him to the nearby cold pond where all the Lan disciples were bathing and pouring water on each other.

Lan's disciples became quiet after seeing their third prince coming there, then Lan Wangji told them to leave from there with a signal of his eyes because he wanted the entire cold pond empty at the moment.

Wei Wuxian was getting very excited because this was the first time he had come to the cold pond and when he tried to move forward with his stick, there was a little slippery rock there and then Lan Wangji held his waist in his arm.

Lan Wangji helped Wei Wuxian stand up properly and softly told him, "You should be careful here because the area around the pond is very wet and often has algae build-up, which often makes the rocks and soil slippery."

Lan disciples immediately put on all their layers of clothing and slowly started to leave the place.

When the entire space was clear, Lan Wangji first made Wei Wuxian sit on a rock and slowly took off his shoes and then took off his own shoes.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji both took off their heavily embroidered outer robes and their white gold threaded waistbands and placed them on the rock.

Then they both started to walk into the pond holding each other's hands, they both were so much excited.

The temperature of the water in the cold pond was very cold due to which both of them were feeling shivers in their bodies and because of the cold, Wei Wuxian held Lan Wangji's arm tightly and now both of them were slowly going towards the depth of the pond.

Lan Wangji was holding Wei Wuxian by the waist but both of them had tied their swords to their waist and went to the middle of the cold pond and squatted for some time and sat down for meditation with their eyes closed.

The moment Lan Wangji saw Wei Wuxian's plum pink lips, his heart started beating faster and his entire body felt a strange sense of excited hormones.

Lan Wangji felt that Wei Wuxian was feeling cold but he was intentionally playing with the water and throwing it on his face, then he also started throwing water lightly on the ger boy and both of them were playing with water at that time.

Both Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian's clothes were soaked in water, which caused all the clothes to stick to their bodies even after wearing two layers, making the shape and bulge of their bodies clearly visible.

Lan Wangji gulped at the sight of Wei Wuxian’s wet clothes, which made his heart beat faster and his ears turn red with embarrassment as this was the first time the two of them were so close to each other.

Suddenly, no one knows what happened, both of them were pulled from one place to another in the flow of water and in such a situation, Lan Wangji wanted to hold Wei Wuxian's hand tightly, but due to the strong flow of water, both of their hands got separated from each other and suddenly they fell into the depth of the pond with a lot of pressure.

Wei Wuxian was the first to come and fall down from the top in a cave in the depth of the pond very fast, due to which his head hit a wall with a force and he fell straight to the ground.

Lan Wangji also fell down very fast in the cave while going deep into the cold pond, but as soon as he tried to find Wei Wuxian, he saw that the ger boy was lying unconscious in a corner where blood was coming out of his head.

Lan Wangji noticed that the fireflies had given him a lot of light even in the deep cave, so he immediately cleaned the blood coming out of Wei Wuxian's head with a handkerchief that he had tried to tie it on his head.

Wei Wuxian had fainted due to falling in the pond, so Lan Wangji picked him up in his arms and he was taking ger boy to a safe place inside the pond, but as he was moving forward, the temperature of the place increased by one or two degrees.

Lan Wangji noticed that the unconscious Wei Wuxian's body in his hands was suddenly getting cold because the temperature here was getting very cold and now both their lips had also dried up and started turning blue due to the cold atmosphere.

Lan Wangji placed Wei Wuxian's cold body on a rock and kept massaging his arms and legs with his hands to warm them up but even then he couldn't find any way to escape so he immediately tried to find a way out by digging into the surrounding walls.

When Lan Wangji looked back at Wei Wuxian, he found him still unconscious so he immediately removed the handkerchief from the wounds of the ger boy and cleaned them with cold water and then tore a piece of cloth from his clothes and bandaged his head.

Lan Wangji immediately took Wei Wuxian in his arms and as soon as he felt that the cold was getting out of his body, he placed his lips on his partner's lips and started kissing him slowly.

Wei Wuxian's lips were colder than ice so Lan Wangji was kissing him slowly and his husband was trying to keep his body warm for some time with this warmth but both of their clothes had become wet so he took get boy in his arms and lay on top of him.

Lan Wangji tried for a long time to give warmth to Wei Wuxian's body through his clothes and he was also trying to bring him back to consciousness but his friend was not coming back to consciousness due to which he started getting very worried.

Lan Wangji's body was also getting cold and both of them fell into a deep sleep but as soon as he heard some loud noise, he woke up and saw that they were embracing each other outside the forest.

Lan Wangji looked at Wei Wuxian who was still unconscious, he checked his surroundings then he found Lan Xichen and Lan disciples were shocked to see them both like this and they were murmuring about something.

Lan Wangji saw everything with blurred vision and he also fainted, Lan disciples immediately picked them both up and took them to the healer's compound because both of them had become very cold due to staying in the cold cave and had used up a lot of energy in their bodies.

Chapter 19: Vision

Chapter Text

Lan Xichen was extremely worried to see the two unconscious so he ordered Lan's disciples to, "Immediately pick them up and take them to the healer's compound as they were both very cold and had used up a lot of internal energy."

Lan Xichen immediately sent a message to his father Lan Qiren via a transparent butterfly that Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian had been found unconscious outside a cave in the middle of the Cloud Recess dense forest but for the time being both of their bodies had gone very cold which was not a good sign.

Lan Qiren and many more Lan elders immediately gathered outside the compound of the Lan healer who had treated the two.

All the Lan elders were very worried as Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian were both unconscious and shivering inside the treatment room.

The Lan Healer told Lan Qiren, "Head Master, your nephew Third Prince doesn't have any visible scars on his body, but Third Prince's partner has a deep scar on his head as if he had been hit by something. Other than that, there are no visible scars on their bodies, but their bodies are very cold as if they were just pulled out of an ice cave."

Lan Healer said very politely, "There is a lot of blood coming out of Wei Wuxian's forehead, so we will have to treat him by applying two or three stitches on his forehead and cleaning his wound thoroughly which will take about 2 hours."

Lan Qiren was extremely worried because he had been looking for his nephew and his partner for the past 28 days as his Lan disciples had found their outer robes and shoes on the rock of the cold pond but there was no trace of them for the past 28 days.

Lan Qiren had written a letter to inform Jiang Fengmian that the two 16-year-old teenagers had disappeared for the past few days but they were nowhere to be found even after a lot of searching so sect leader Jiang came to Cloud Recess for their search.

Jiang Fengmian had just taken a small group of Jiang disciples to check the three-four cities around Caiyi Town again so it would take them till evening to return to Cloud Recess.

It was prohibited to come to Cloud Recess after 7:00 pm at night but due to the disappearance of Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian, sometimes their group of Lan ans Jiang disciples would return at 12:00 at night and for now, they could return to the Cloud Recess at any time.

At the time of crisis, Lan Family had to change the strict rules of their ancient Gusu Lan sect.

Lan Qiren sat outside the healer's compound for a long time and he was very worried because if something happened to either of them, he would never be able to forgive himself, so he was extremely worried.

Lan Xichen was thinking why both of them were shivering with so much cold even though their clothes were so wet and there was no ice cave visible around that deep forest.

Suddenly everyone was lost in their own thoughts when the door of the emergency room opened and the healer came out, a little tension was visible on the healer's face.

The healer immediately came out and said, "Head Master, you don't need to worry because the Third Prince is absolutely fine but his partner has a serious head injury which we have treated so there is no need to panic now because he will regain consciousness after a few minutes or hours."

Now everyone was breathing a sigh of relief so as soon as Lan Qiren went inside, he saw that Lan Wangji was slowly opening his eyes and then he immediately asked the Third Prince the reason for his disappearance for 28 days and suddenly his nephew got scared.

Lan Wangji told that he was trapped in a cold ice cave not for the last 28 days but for a few hours and he himself does not know how he reached the forest outside the mysterious cave because maybe there were some magical powers inside the cold pond due to which the door to a different realm world would have opened.

Lan Qiren had asked Lan Xichen to investigate the Cold Pond for a few days and all the disciples were not allowed to go into the depths of the Cold Pond and could only go up to two meters to avoid any danger again.

Lan Wangji began to ask his uncle and brother about Wei Wuxian's whereabouts and they all told him that his partner was lying on a nearby bed and ger boy was about to regain consciousness.

Lan Wangji looked at unconscious Wei Wuxian as the healer had bandaged his head and put some stitches on his wound so he was currently unconscious and his lips were no longer blue like before but slowly turned back to normal.

Lan Wangji was asked by his uncle to rest for a while as he had to take all the elders to investigate the cold pond.

Meanwhile, Lan Xichen and Lan Jingyi were given the responsibility of taking care of both Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji.

Lan Xichen went to the nearby window and cut some fruits and arranged them on a plate for Lan Wangji to eat because he had not eaten anything in that icy cave due to the cold and the third prince's stomach was also making sounds of hunger.

Lan Xichen cut the fresh fruits and arranged the plate and gave them to his brother to eat and then he also brought him a glass of water, at that time, Wei Wuxian made a little movement.

Lan Wangji was about to get up from his bed but he was feeling a little dizzy so his elder brother Lan Xichen stopped him from getting up from the bed and immediately gave Lan Jingyi the responsibility of feeding him all the fruits.

Wei Wuxian slowly realized that his head and legs were hurting, he blinked his eyes with great difficulty and tried to open them.

Wei Wuxian could see everything blurry and his head was hurting a lot because of wound, he was not able to see anything clearly.

Lan Xichen immediately called the healer and he bent down and came to check on Wei Wuxian.

It was a very strange time for Wei Wuxian because he could hardly open his eyes and everything was blurry, then he slowly saw a beautiful person in front of him.

Wei Wuxian looked at the ceiling and immediately looked at the person who looked very beautiful in sacred forehead ribbon.

Wei Wuxian smiled and said, "Lan Wangji, I can see now. I can see you. I can't believe how beautiful you are. I actually married such a beautiful person like you."

Wei Wuxian immediately held both of Lan Xichen's cheeks in his palms and was teasing his cheeks in excitement.

Wei Wuxian kept saying in excitement, "Lan Wangji, you are really beautiful and Handsome. Thank God that my eyesight has returned. Look, I can see you and I don't need to touch your face to identify you anymore."

Lan Xichen was about to say something but a loud noise reverberated in the room, and the smell of jealousy could be measured and sensed, "Wei Wuxian, the person whose cheeks you are holding in your palms is my elder brother Lan Xichen, and I am Lan Wangji, the one you are married to."

Wei Wuxian immediately looked at the voice of the person angrily calling out his name and everyone looked at Lan Wangji in surprise as Third Prince had an angry expression on his face which made Wei Wuxian panic so he quickly removed his palms from Lan Xichen's cheeks.

Chapter 20: First Kiss

Chapter Text

Seeing the jealous expression on Lan Wangji's face, Wei Wuxian immediately gulped but Lan Xichen's face became slightly sly as he could sense his younger brother's jealous expression.

Wei Wuxian pointed his finger at Lan Wangji and asked, "Are you really Lan Wangji? All the princes in the Lan family are so handsome. Your elder brother is also very handsome but you are even more handsome."

Lan Wangji's ears turned red in embarrassment but suddenly the healer arrived and asked everyone to leave the room so he started to check Wei Wuxian's health.

Lan Xichen and Lan Jingyi both left the room immediately but Lan Wangji was quietly sitting alone eating his fruits and Wei Wuxian got hungry after seeing him eat fruits like that.

Wei Wuxian immediately asked the healer, "Can I eat some fruit as I am also hungry?"

The healer immediately replied looking at Wei Wuxian's innocent face, "Yes, you can eat anything but stay away from sour and oily foods for now."

Lan Xichen returned to the room and Wei Wuxian poutingly said, "Zewu-jun, I am also hungry. I also want to eat fruit like Lan Wangji."

Lan Xichen immediately cut some fresh fruit and brought it on a plate and after keeping it aside, he immediately helped Wei Wuxian to get up and then started feeding him fruit with his hands but looking at both of them, Lan Wangji felt jealous for the first time.

Lan Jingyi immediately put a hand on Lan Wangji's shoulder and said, "You don't need to feel jealous seeing Brother and Wei Wuxian together because our brother is getting married to Jin Guangyao soon so he is taking care of you both out of concern."

Lan Wangji had a puffy face but as soon as he felt some energy in his body, he got up from his bed and sat on Wei Wuxian's bed and started examining his hands and feet thoroughly.

Lan Wangji took both of Wei Wuxian's cheeks in his palms and asked lovingly, "How are you feeling now? Are you feeling okay now? I was very scared when you fainted in the snowy cave because you were not regaining consciousness."

Wei Wuxian also took Lan Wangji's cheeks in the palms of his hands and said, "I am feeling better now but I really can't believe that you are my partner. You are really so handsome."

Lan Wangji could not stop himself and as soon as he went near Wei Wuxian's face, he immediately held his lips with his lips and started kissing him, but the ger boy got a little nervous due to the sudden kiss, but his partner did not leave his lips even for a second and kept kissing continuously for a long time.

Lan Wangji heard the sound of some people entering the Healer's compound so he immediately pulled himself back, broke the kiss and got up from the bed and moved to the other side, but Wei Wuxian's entire body was frozen in place due to the sudden kiss.

Wei Wuxian immediately put his hand on his lips as he couldn't believe what had just happened to him and looked in astonishment at his uncle and uncle-in-law standing in front of him

Jiang Fengmian was also called back, so as soon as he returned in the evening, he and Lan Qiren went to see their nephew first.

Jiang Fengmian was very happy when he found out that Wei Wuxian was no longer blind like before, but his vision had returned, due to which he could now see everything around him.

Wei Wuxian immediately caught sight of Lan Wangji chatting with his uncle and bit his lips as his life partner smirked at him.

Jiang Fengmian left for his sect after spending 2-3 hours with Wei Wuxian because his daughter Jiang Yanli was getting married soon, so he had to go back to his sect and finish a lot of work because now he could prepare for his daughter's wedding without any worries.

The condition of both Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian was very good and no one was serious, seeing this everyone became very worried, but they started keeping an eye on the cold pond.

Wei Wuxian was very excited to go to his elder sister's wedding but while he had stitches on his forehead, he had to stay in his sect and perfect himself first.

For now, the healer had asked Wei Wuxian to avoid everything because he had just regained his sight and if he was careless with his treatment, he could have to suffer in the future.

*****

**Two Days Later**

Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian both started walking around the cloud Recess holding hands and seeing so much beauty and nature.

Wei Wuxian would get very happy because the views of the mountains there were very beautiful from where the smoke of the clouds kept moving slowly from one place to another.

Wei Wuxian had never thought that his ability to see would come back and he would be able to see such beautiful sights, so as long as his forehead was bandaged, he was asked to take some rest but he would insist on going out with Lan Wangji to roam in the mountains.

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji would sometimes kiss each other deeply on the lips when they were alone with each other, which made them become accustomed to kissing each other's lips.

Lan Wangji also took Wei Wuxian to visit Caiyi Town with his two elder brothers where he also bought a lot of gifts for his elder sister Jiang Yanli's wedding.

Wei Wuxian went from stall to stall, choosing a lot of things for himself because for the first time in his life he had seen a market and such beautiful things displayed there that whatever he insisted on buying, Lan Wangji agreed to all his demands.

Almost a month had passed for Wei Wuxian but now the most difficult time of his life was about to begin as the healer had checked his eyes and said that he could now complete his studies.

Wei Wuxian's real test had now begun in the Lan Family as he now had to wake up early in the morning at 5:00 like everyone else and read all the rules of the Gusu Lan sect and practice writing all the 3000 rules twice a day.

Wei Wuxian did not have any interest in studying but now Lan Qiren himself had started taking his classes due to which he had to finish reading a new book every day.

Wei Wuxian sometimes regretted that he had regained his eyesight as he had to complete his studies and calligraphy process every day and almost 3 months had passed in which he had memorized all the 3000 rules by writing them down.

Both Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji accompanied Lan Qiren to the LanLing Jin Sect where Crown Prince Jin Zixuan's grand wedding ceremony was held and people from all sects were present as it was the biggest wedding of the century.

Wei Wuxian was excited to meet his entire family and Lan Wangji was excited to meet the Jiang family too but Lan Xichen was very nervous as he would meet Jin Guangyao whom he had been avoiding for a long time.

Chapter 21: Obsession with Pink

Chapter Text

Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji had accompanied Lan Qiren to the Lanling Jin Sect, where the grand wedding of Crown Prince Jin Zixuan had taken place.

It was the most magnificent wedding of the century, with people from every major sect in attendance.

Wei Wuxian had been thrilled at the thought of reuniting with his entire Jiang family and Lan Wangji was quiet as ever, had also seemed subtly excited, he too had looked forward to meeting the Jiang family again.

Poor Lan Xichen had worn a nervous expression throughout the journey, after all, he was about to see Jin Guangyao, someone he had been avoiding for quite some time.

Both Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji had been just shy of turning seventeen, yet they had already married at sixteen so the bond between them was deep and gentle, even if Wei Wuxian was still full of childish antics and energy.

The night before the wedding, while everyone else had been sleeping, Wei Wuxian had stayed up late preparing a protective talisman for his beloved sister, Jiang Yanli.

Wei Wuxian wanted to make sure his Shijie remained untouched by any evil eye on her big day so the process had taken him until nearly 2:30 am.

By the time Wei Wuxian had gotten up at 5:00 am to begin the journey to Lanling, he was groggy, tired, and not at all well-rested.

After walking several kilometers on foot with the group, exhaustion had begun to wear Wei Wuxian down then Lan Wangji had noticed so he had known what his partner had been doing the night before, so he quietly rented a donkey for him to ride on and rest.

Wei Wuxian had dozed off on the donkey, swaying side to side, and almost falling off more than once.

Eventually, Lan Wangji had given up on the donkey and rented a proper horse instead so he had mounted it and pulled Wei Wuxian up to sit behind him.

The rest of the journey to Lanling had been spent with Wei Wuxian leaning against Lan Wangji’s back, arms wrapped around his waist, asleep and peaceful.

They had reached the Koi Tower ahead of the others and settled in at a local inn, where they both arranged food and drinks for their group.

The rest of the party arrived almost two hours later, then everyone gathered in the inn to freshen up and have a light evening snack before heading together to the Jin Sect.

While sipping his tea, Wei Wuxian’s eyes had wandered to a group of young omegas nearby, especially the ones wearing bright, beautiful pink outfits.

The beautiful pink dress omegas sparkled under the light, and in contrast Wei Wuxian's own plain white robes felt dull and lifeless.

Two little omega girls in particular had caught Wei Wuxian's eye when both were wearing soft baby-pink dresses, and he couldn’t stop looking at them.

Wei Wuxian muttered under his breath, shoulders slumping, "I look so boring in these white clothes. I want to wear pink too like these kids."

When everyone stood up to head toward the Jin Sect, Wei Wuxian had stayed seated, pouting and sulking so Lan Wangji observed him quietly, leaned in and asked in a low voice, “Wei Wuxian, why do you look so down?”

Wei Wuxian puffed his cheeks and blurted out, “I want to wear a pink outfit like those kids.”

Lan Jingyi, who overheard his voice then he snorted but Lan Xichen smiled warmly, while Lan Wangji looked slightly confused and unsure how to react.

It was clear that the long journey had tired everyone out but Wei Wuxian sat like a stubborn child and he was refusing to move.

Wei Wuxian kept repeating that he looked boring and too plain in his white robes.

Lan Qiren was already tired and cranky from the journey, scolded Wei Wuxian sternly in front of everyone, “Wei Wuxian, stop acting like a child.”

The sharp words had hit harder than expected so Wei Wuxian was trying to act unbothered, had gone quiet as he stood and followed the group toward the Jin Sect, but tears had welled up in his eyes, his nose running slightly from the emotion.

Wei Wuxian didn’t speak a word during the entire walk but Lan Wangji had tried to hold his hand more than once, but he had pulled away each time, too upset to accept any comfort.

Wei Wuxian's heart was bruised because his small wish to wear pink had been ignored and even ridiculed but seeing him like that, Lan Wangji felt a pang of guilt.

Immediately Lan Wangji leaned close to Wei Wuxian’s ear and whispered softly, “Tomorrow we’ll go to the market. I’ll buy you a pink robe, just for you but you’ll have to be patient until then.”

Wei Wuxian didn’t believe him at first so he asked innocently, “Promise?”

Lan Wangji gave a tiny nod, “Promise.”

In an instant, Wei Wuxian’s pout transformed into a beam of joy, his eyes lighting up like lanterns then he clutched Lan Wangji’s sleeve, suddenly full of energy again.

As they reached the main gates of the Jin Sect, Wei Wuxian’s eyes sparkled once again, this time with excitement.

The grand golden staircases that led into the sect loomed ahead, shimmering in the afternoon light.

Jin Guangshan and many of his nephews were personally welcoming every guest with garlands when Wei Wuxian’s turn came, a flower garland was gently placed around his neck, and he giggled like a child, feeling important and special.

Wei Wuxian stepped in and finally laid his eyes on the grandeur of Lanling Jin Sect, the tall golden walls, the intricate murals plated with gold, and the marbled carvings on every surface left him in awe.

Wei Wuxian's earlier sadness had melted away, replaced with the wide-eyed wonder of someone who could still see magic in the world.

Wei Wuxian had immediately stepped forward into the crowd of unfamiliar faces, his eyes scanning the gathering though he had once been blind, his sight had recently returned, and now, everything looked new and strange to him.

Wei Wuxian had no visual memories of anyone, so even familiar voices were now attached to unfamiliar faces as confusion began to show on his face, two figures had rushed toward him, Nie Huaisang and Jiang Cheng.

Wei Wuxian had stared at them in surprise, trying to recognize them but it wasn’t until they spoke, until the sound of their voices reached his ears that realization had dawned.

Nie Huaisang had called out, voice cracking with emotion, "Wei Wuxian, how are you?"

Jiang Cheng had said softly, almost disbelieving, "Wei Wuxian, We miss you so much."

In an instant, both had embraced Wei Wuxian tightly, they formed a group hug.

After so many months apart, that reunion had been overwhelming so the three had stood in a long, heartfelt embrace, holding back tears as joy and disbelief collided in their hearts.

Lan Wangji had quietly joined them moments later, standing just behind Wei Wuxian with a small smile but he didn’t interrupt, he simply waited patiently until Wei Wuxian noticed him, then placed a gentle hand on his back, offering silent support.

Together they had walked ahead, Wei Wuxian had immediately recognized Uncle Jiang Fengmian, his calm and noble posture hadn’t changed.

The moment their eyes met, recognition had sparked between them but it was the first time Wei Wuxian had ever laid eyes on his aunt Madam Yu, and his beloved older sister Jiang Yanli.

Meeting them had been emotional and the family long separated had finally reunited and the happiness in the air had been impossible to miss.

After so many month spent in Cloud Recesses, Yunmeng’s Lotus Pier had started to feel a little too empty without its children and with Jiang Yanli soon to be married, the Jiang residence would feel even more hollow.

Jiang Yanli’s voice had trembled as she approached, her arms open, "Wei Wuxian, how are you?"

Wei Wuxian had rushed into Jiang Yanli's embrace like a child, burying his face into her shoulder as tears finally spilled from his eyes then he had whispered, voice thick with emotion, “Shijie, you look so beautiful. I miss you so much.”

Jiang Yanli had worn a stunning rose-pink robes embroidered with silver lotus blossoms, the soft color shimmered under the lantern light, and to Wei Wuxian, it had looked like something out of a dream.

Drawn in by the dress, Wei Wuxian had spoken without thinking, “Why don’t I get to wear pink too?”

Everyone had turned to look at Wei Wuxian in amusement so he had had immediately turned to Jiang Fengmian with a playful pout, “Uncle Lan Qiren never lets me wear anything but white and he keeps making me read books all day. No pink clothes, no fun, only 3000 rules.”

Wei Wuxian's exaggerated complaint had drawn quiet chuckles from those nearby, even Jiang Cheng had looked away to hide a small smile.

Madam Yu had raised an eyebrow, unimpressed but Jiang Yanli had gently patted Wei Wuxian’s head then she had said with a warm smile, “Wei Wuxian, I have plenty of pink robes. You can borrow one if you’d like.”

Wei Wuxian's eyes had lit up instantly, “Really Shijie, you’re the best.”

Excited beyond measure, Wei Wuxian had grabbed Jiang Yanli's hand and hurried inside to look at her collection then among the many beautiful garments, one in particular had caught his eye, a soft chiffon and georgette robe in pale rose-pink, delicate and flowing like a cloud.

Wei Wuxian happily declared, “I want to wear this one.”

Jiang Yanli had laughed softly, “Then it’s yours for the day.”

Without delay, Wei Wuxian had gone to the guest room, changed out of his plain white robes, and put on the pink dress with the glee of a child discovering a treasure.

Wei Wuxian immediately had even applied a light touch of sandalwood and jasmine perfume that Jiang Yanli had given him then the moment he stepped back into the gathering, he had begun swaying and spinning dramatically, drawing attention from every direction.

Wei Wuxian had asked Lan Wangji with a grin, "Do I look good?"

Lan Wangji had been quiet, but the tiny upward curve of his lips and the fondness in his eyes had spoken volumes so he had gently taken Wei Wuxian’s hand, their fingers lacing together as they walked side by side.

It had been the first time Wei Wuxian had attended such a grand event with so many people from the cultivation world gathered in one place.

Normally Wei Wuxian kept within sect walls so the outing had thrilled him beyond words and his joy had been radiant.

The Lanling Jin Sect’s wealth had been on full display, the banquet dishes had been served in golden and silver platters, their fragrance mouthwatering.

The ceremonial hall had been decorated with imported flowers from across kingdoms, orchids, lotuses and camellias, all arranged into intricate designs.

Chandelier lanterns made entirely of carved candles had bathed the hall in soft light.

Amidst the splendor, Lan Xichen’s gaze had drifted, unknowingly locking onto Jin Guangyao across the hall room.

Jin Guangyao had a small child in his arms, the child that belonged to them both so suddenly their eyes had met.

For a moment, everything else had faded, the noise of the crowd, the laughter, the music, it had all disappeared as time seemed to pause.

Lan Xichen had slowly approached and, with gentle hands, taken the child into his arms for the first time in months.

Neither had spoken, but their silence had been heavy with emotion, Jin Guangyao’s eyes had shimmered with tears, unfallen but present as if his soul had been waiting for this moment.

Lan Xichen’s voice had been soft, “He’s grown. My son has a dominating Lan alpha aura.”

Before Jin Guangyao could reply, Lan Qiren had called out to Lan Xichen from a distance, summoning him to join the other sect leaders for political discussion so the weight of duty had pulled him away.

Reluctantly, Lan Xichen had handed the child back to Jin Guangyao, his fingers lingering for a second too long.

No words had been exchanged, only a glance full of longing, regret, and unspoken hope.

Jin Guangyao had stood frozen while holding their child tightly as tears finally slipped down his cheeks because in that moment, all he had wanted was to be beside the man he loved.
