Queen Of Nothing

Summary:

"Curiosity killed the cat, and if anything, Kay was more of a well trained dog"

A Forsaken fic following my oc during the events of Forsaken as well as covering some of her backstory throughout. Fic will be Kay centric but you'll be seeing Noob a lot.

I kinda ship Sixer and Noob with both of my Forsaken oc's, they're a little polycule in my brain and I love them very much, but none of it is explicitly romantic and you can see it as platonic if you wish ^^

Notes:

(See the end of the work for notes.)

Chapter 1: Stop the car, I wanna get out.

Chapter Text

Kay was your average Robloxian. Recent graduate from Robloxia High School, now working part time at Builder Brothers Pizza while she participated in the occasional obby. She's been alone for a while now, but she didn't mind the quiet. Not anymore.

Kay wasn't really the curious type. While she was certainly loud and energetic, she often didn't question things. She never questioned when Noob and Guest stopped coming by. Never questioned when the top employee of the pizzeria disappeared without a trace. Barely questioned where her best friend went after he left to play some new horror event. Curiosity killed the cat, and if anything, Kay was more of a well trained dog.

It was night when it happened. Kay was taking a walk once her thoughts caught up with her. After her best friend disappeared, she always thought it was her fault in some way. It was an intrusive thought. She knew that all too well. If she was doing something wrong, he would've told her. It's not her fault. That's what she told herself. But her mind never seemed to agree. That's how she found herself walking alone in the park at near 1am on a Tuesday night. She probably shouldn't have been here alone, but who did she have to be here with? And it's unlikely that in Robloxia of all places there'd be a random murderer in the park. So she kept walking, her eyes watching how the branches of the trees rustled in the cool night and her ears listening to the soft whistling of the wind. Maybe if she listened harder she would've heard the footsteps behind her. Maybe if she looked closer she would've seen the slight shadow caving over her. Maybe if she was more curious she would've turned around and saw the rope before it strangled her neck.

When Kay woke up, she found herself in a forest with howling winds and the sound of unsettlingly thick water flowing. She picked herself up off the ground and began to silently wander the forest. Coming across an eery purple river. She followed it to find a cliff with a well sat atop. Before she could even think about it, Kay spun at the sound of footsteps behind her, seeing a man with a hockey mask glaring at her as he paced towards her. Kay took a couple steps back before breaking into a sprint, chucking back a bloxiade she never realised she had on hand until now and running though trees and walls decorating the forest.

Jason. His name was Jason. Kay remembered him telling her about them before. He was always the fan of horror events, and Jason was often a lead figure in them. Kay didn't know why before, but seeing the machete welding man in person? She understood it now.

Eventually, she lost him. She circled back to a graveyard she saw, slouching down within its walls as she caught her breath.

“Y’ alright there?” A voice calls out to her, making Kay snap her head around to see the figure. A grey skinned man with a hardhat and open jacket. The man oozed a visage of manual labor, with his scuffed half-shaven facial hair and worn jeans. The man was almost unrecognisable to Kay. Almost, but who could forget the image of a man plastered on every major event. “Builderman?”

Builderman nodded, taking a seat beside Kay. “Y’ got that right. Wish y’ could've got here ‘fore the round began, but just our luck I ‘spose.” He said with a light chuckle. “I guess I owe ya an explanation.” Builderman said with a sigh, his tone the slightest more sombre, though Kay hardly noticed.

“This place ‘s pretty much a kind o’ hell. Folks with some form of “sins” end up ‘ere. Some as survivors like you an’ I. Some as killers as I can assume you've unfortunately seen.” He says, vaguely gesturing as he recounts everything. He seems unusually calm given the situation. It's like he's used to it all. Telamon, Kay hopes she never has to get used to this. “As survivors, we have ‘t try an’ survive for long enough until whatever’s controlling this place gets bored. Then there's a rest period which varies. Typically we’re given the luxury of rest, each o’ us have shared livin’ spaces. I s’pose now we’ll have to rearrange due to your arrival, though that shouldn't be an issue.”

Kay quietly nods along, unable to speak much due to the seemingly eternal burning in her throat. Her mind is preoccupied with the pure amount of questions she has about this whole place, most importantly how she ended up here in the first place. She flinched when Builderman placed a hand on her shoulder, shifting away from it.

“Y' here? I think ya zoned out for a moment there.” He questions, to which Kay nods, glancing away from the man. The vague memory of losing a friend seemed to rear its head around the man, though, Kay can't pinpoint its origin. Builderman's expression seems torn between concern and understanding as he removes his hand from its position. “Alright, take some time to compose yerself. If ya could, keep lookout will ya? Better to watch each other's backs.” Kay nods in agreement, getting up and onto one of the stones in the corner of the graveyard as Builderman seemed to be building some sort of cylindrical machine in another corner.

-

Staring across the horizon was a bore. Not much had happened. At one point, Kay saw what seemed to be an ex colleague of hers, dashing away from one area before crouching by some kind of generator. She'd mentioned it to Builderman who simply thanked her for telling him before he went back to focusing on whatever he was doing. Kay didn't really care for it.

Not too long later a gunshot rang out and Kay saw someone running over. But, this someone was oddly familiar to her. Getting a better look, she saw the face of her best friend, a face she thought she'd forgotten.

She ducked her head back down, eyes wide. Kay had forgotten. Forgotten to check up on them, forgotten Sixers advice. Oh Sixer… that's why she'd been so on edge. Her mind was spiralling, she could barely hear Builderman talking to her.

“Kid!” Kay glanced up, her breath coming in heaves. “What did you see out there? Is the killer near?” He asked in an almost stern tone. Kay shook her head, only leading to more questions before a figure stepped into the yard. “Noob?” Builderman questioned, but before responding, they glanced over to Kay and settled down by them. “K- Kay? Is that… no, it is you, that was silly, sorry…” They mutter before placing a hand over hers, causing her to glance back to them, eyes wide and wet with tears formed but not shed.

“I forgot…” Kay said, her posture melting. “I could've- I should've been there for you but I-” Noob shook their head and smiled weakly. “I know. It's okay. We're okay.” Kay nodded, head leaning back against the cold stone. “I'm sorry.” Kay muttered against the rock, coughing slightly, causing Noob to turn to her in concern. Kay shook her head. “I'm okay.” She said with a small smile, her hands raising, Noobs eyes lighting in recognition. ‘Just hurts a bit to speak. I don't want to talk about it now.’ She signed, to which Noob nodded.

Noob turns their attention to Builderman who'd been silently watching the interaction. “I- I'll help keep w- watch!” They said, offering Kay a hand which she takes with a small nod.

The both of them quietly watched the landscape, listening to the distant sounds of metal colliding. “How have you been?” Noob asked quietly, gazing down at Kay's hands. ‘Good.’ She signed in return. ‘And you?’ “...I’ve been alright… a bit better now that you're here.” Kay hummed in response, leaning against Noob with a subtle smile as the light faded from their sight and the final seconds ticked down.
