Light and Shadow Reunited

Summary:

Kuroko Tetsuya is getting ready for a new summer basketball competition that is taking the place of the Interhigh School competition with Seiren's basketball team. But when he finds out that his parents are getting transferred to a different Tokyo branch of their company, not only are they moving so that they are closer to the company, but Tetsuya has to transfer to a different school, to Touou High.
So, he not only needs to get used to being at a new school but also to being able to play well with a new team that includes his old light and partner Aomine Daiki. Not to mention having to deal with some anger from his old team, Seiren, when they find out that he transferred not only to a different school but to one of their rival schools.
But it's not his fault that his parents transferred to a different branch of their company, making him transfer to a different school.
Not only does he have to deal with all of that, but he also has to deal with his feelings towards a certain dark-skinned player returning as they play on the same team again.

Chapter 1: Chapter 1

"Huh?" Kuroko Tetsuya says as he stares blankly at his parents, who are sitting at the kitchen table for breakfast on a Friday morning before they have to leave for work and school.  His mother sighs as she exchanges a look with his father and says, "We are being transferred to a different branch here in Tokyo but it's kind of far from where we are currently living, and we have to move to be closer to work you also have to transfer schools as we will be too far from Seiren." Tetsuya blinks slowly at her before looking at his father and sees the apologetic look in his eyes as he nods in agreement with his mother. "We know that you want to continue to go to Seiren, especially since you just started as a first-year, but it's just not possible, Tetsu. The train schedules don't match up with our work schedules, and we just don't feel comfortable with you taking the train from where we're moving to in Tokyo to Seiren and back by yourself." 

Tetsuya nods as he listens to what his parents are saying and asks them, "What school will I be transferring to?" He drops his fork when his mother says "Touou High Academy." He looks at them with wide eyes and watches as they stand up and put their dishes in the sink. His father ruffles his hair lightly as he walks by him and says, "It'll work out, you'll see, kiddo."  His mother bends down and kisses his cheek lightly as she walks by and says, "We leave this weekend, Tetsuya. I've already told your school, and they should have your transfer papers ready by the time you leave school today." Tetsuya watches as they walk out of the kitchen and hears the front door open and close again before hearing the car drive off, before sighing to himself as he's left own in the house.

Tetsuya stands up from the table and walks over to the sink with his dishes to wash them, along with the dishes that his parents had left in the sink.  They had a rule that the last person who finishes eating has to wash the dishes in the sink. As he's washing the dishes and puts them to the side to dry, he thinks about how well that Seiren, especially Kagami, is going to take that he has to transfer before the All-star basketball competition that has taken the place of the Interhigh School competition this year starts.  It's supposed to be a competition where not only do all of the high schools in Japan compete, but some of the top junior high schools are going to be competing in it.  He walks out of the kitchen and over to the front door, grabbing his things and putting on his shoes as he walks out the door. 

As he was walking towards Seiren, he pulled out his phone when he heard it ding to notify him that he had a text message, which he opened and saw that it was from Akashi.  He sighs as he opens it to see that Akashi sent him a message saying that he's picking him up after practice to talk about something important.  Tetsuya sends back a confirmation message as he walks through Seiren's entrance gate and sighs as he walks through the school doors, going to his locker to switch out his street shoes for school shoes. 'I wouldn't be surprised if Sei knows what's to talk about me being transferred to Touou. He is Akashi Seijuro after all, so nothing gets by him.'  Tetsuya thinks to himself, a bit amused as he closes his locker and walks towards his classroom before homeroom begins.  Tetsuya tenses slightly when he sees Kagami already in the classroom, sitting at his desk, when he walks into the classroom and sighs as he sits at his desk a row over from Kagami. 

"Oi Kuroko, are you ready for the All-Star competition coming up. We're going to kick some major ass." Kagami says when he sees Kuroko, and smiles widely at him. Kuroko looks at him blankly before saying, "Kagami-kun, there's something important that I need to tell you and the rest of Seiren today before practice." Kagami raises an eyebrow at him and says, "Okay. You can't tell me what it is now?"  Kuroko shakes his head as the teacher comes in to start homeroom and says quietly, "It's better if I say it when everyone is together."  Kuroko leaves it at that when the teacher starts to take the attendance roll call, and Kagami gives him a strange look before sighing to himself and paying attention to what the teacher is teaching them, deciding to wait until practice to find out what Kuroko has to tell them.

....

"HUH, what do you mean that you have to transfer?!!" Riko says as she looks at the paperwork that Kuroko had given to her before they started practice.  "My parents are being transferred to another branch of their company here in Tokyo, but since the branch is far from where we live now, we're moving, and I have to transfer to one of the schools that is closer to our new house."   Tetsuya says as he looks at her, as Riko looks up from the papers and looks at him with wide eyes, but doesn't say anything when she sees him sending her a slight pleading look to not say the school's name that he's being transferred to yet. She sighs as she hands the papers back, and he puts them back in his bag before anyone can grab them to look at them.  

"Well, it's too bad that you have to leave before the All-stars competition, Kuroko-kun." Kiyoshi says with a small smile as Kuroko looks at him and bows his head slightly as he says, "I'm sorry, everyone." Hyuuga pats his shoulder lightly as he says, "It's fine, Kuroko. It's not your fault that your parents are transferring to a different branch." Riko nods as she says, "Though Kuroko-kun, why won't your parents let you take the train to Seiren and back home?" Kuroko sighs as he says, "Tou-san said that the train schedules don't match up to their work schedules and that they don't feel comfortable with me taking the train by myself."

The gym is silent for a few minutes before Kagami, who has been glaring at him since he announced that he was transferring and says, "So what, you're abandoning us before a big competition and expect us to be sad to see you leaving?"  Kagami scoffs as he continues saying, "That we'll ask you not to go? Well, don't get your hopes up because I'm glad that you're leaving, then you won't be able to hold me back." Kagami storms out of the gym, leaving everyone stunned at what he just said, and Riko turns to look at Tetsuya and sees him standing still, looking at the gym doors with wide eyes, and sighs as she lightly touches his shoulder, making him look at her.

She smiles gently as she says, "Don't listen to that idiot Kuroko-kun. We're sad that you're leaving, and we'll miss you. But I'm sure that we'll see in the competition." Tetsuya gives a small smile as he bows his head and says goodbye to them one last time before walking out of the gym and towards the gate of the school to leave to meet Akashi. 

....

So, you're transferring to Touou." Akashi says as they are sitting at a booth at Maji's, and Tetsuya sighs as he says, "Yes, Akashi-kun, I'm transferring to Touou because my parents have to go to a different branch of their company."  Akashi blinks at him, saying, "Is this going to be an issue with the pact, Tetsuya?" Tetsuya looks at him with a deadpan expression before smirking slightly as he says, "Why, Sei, do I hear a bit of worry in your voice? Scared that I'm going to be playing with Aomine-kun again?" Seijuro looks at him with a smirk himself and chuckles slightly as he says, " Of course not, Tetsu. Though now I'm wondering if we should've included that we can't play on the same team if any of us end up at the same school." 

Tetsuya smiles slightly and says, "Well, it's not like any of us planned on going to the same school, no matter how much you or Aomine tried to convince me to go to Rakuzan or Touou."  Of course, the others had tried to get him to go to their chosen school also, but not as much as Seijuro and Aomine had before they graduated from Teiko. "Does he know?" Seijuro asked, and Tetsuya shook his head slightly before getting a mischievous smile on his face and saying, "No, he doesn't. But on Monday he will." Seijuro chuckles as he says, "Try not to give him a heart attack, Tetsuya, not only is he too young to have one, but your team needs him." 

Tetsuya chuckles slightly before sighing as he says with a small frown and says quietly, "My team, huh?" Akashi looks at him with a slight worried look before sighing himself saying, "If there's anyone that I know that we be able to work with a new team well enough before a competition, it's you, Tetsu." He looks at Tetsuya with a smile as Tetsuya looks at him with a startled look before smiling back at him as he says, "Thank you, Sei."

Tetsuya opens the door to his house and takes off his shoes as he walks in, closing the door behind him and walking to his room when he hears a voice call out, "Tetsuya, is that you?" from the downstairs office that his parents use sometimes. He sees his father walk out of the office towards him and says, "I'm home, tou-san."  His father frowns slightly as he says, "You're home a little later than you normally are from basketball practice, aren't you?" Tetsuya blinks slightly at him before saying, "Sorry tou-san, I should've called you and oka-san. I wasn't at practice but with Sei instead."

His father sighs as he says, "It's fine, Tetsuya, but next time make sure to contact us if you're going to be late and missing dinner, ok?" Tetsuya nods, and his father smiles as he ruffles his hair, and Tetsuya leans into the touch slightly, making his father chuckle as he pulls his hand away and says, "We should get to bed. We have a busy weekend ahead of us, kiddo."  Tetsuya nods as both of them walk up the stairs towards their bedrooms. They say goodnight to each other before going in different directions to their bedrooms, his parents being down the hall on the left and his on the right down the hall.

Tetsuya walks into his bedroom, dropping his bag at his desk before getting changed for bed and making sure to charge his phone before he gets in bed and lies on his side facing the wall.  'Well, this weekend is going to be interesting. But not as much as Monday is going to be.'  He smirks slightly as he closes his eyes to go to sleep to be ready for the morning with his last thought being 'I hope you're ready for me, Aomine-kun.'  before he falls asleep. 

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

Summary:

Monday morning, Tetsuya sighs as he looks at the entrance of Touou High Academy with a blank stare before walking into the building and making his way towards the office where he's supposed to pick up his schedule for the school year.  He walks up to the front desk and says to the lady sitting behind the desk. "Excuse me, miss."  The lady continues to type on her computer, ignoring him, and he tries again to get the same result, making him curse his low presence for once as he sighs quietly to himself.  "Excuse me, miss." He says for the third time, and this time the lady looks at him, startled to see him standing there looking at her blankly. 

"Oh, I'm sorry I didn't notice you standing there. What can I do for you?" She says with a smile, and Tetsuya looks at her as he says, "I'm a new transfer student that's supposed to be starting today. Tetsuya Kuroko."  The lady nods as she turns to her computer and says, "Ah, yes, we were told that a first-year student was going to be transferring here about a week ago."  She prints out some papers and hands them to him with a smile. "Here's your schedule, a map of the school, and this is a paper for your teachers to sign. Just return it by the end of the day. Oh, the first year's classrooms are on the second floor."

Tetsuya nods as he takes the papers and gives her a small smile as he says, "Thank you, have a good day."  He walks away and up the steps to the second floor, as what he assumed to be the second bell meant that homeroom was going to start soon.  He walks up to the door that has a sign hanging beside it that says 1-B and takes a breath before knocking on the door and walking in as the teacher says to come in.  "Umm. Sorry for the intrusion."  He says as he walks in, and the teacher looks at him with a confused look before saying, "Oh, you must be the transfer student."  He nods as he hands the papers to the teacher, who takes them and looks at them for a few seconds before nodding and handing them back to him. 

"I'm your homeroom and math teacher, Mr. Hino." The teacher, Mr. Hino, says with a smile as Tetsuya nods, and they turn to the class that's looking at them, confused about why there's a transferred student here when school had just started a few months ago.  "Class, this is Kuroko Tetsuya, and yes, I know that he's transferring in when school just pretty much started, but let's give him a nice warm welcome anyway, shall we?" Mr. Hino says to the classroom as they look at Tetsuya with raised eyebrows, but call out welcomes anyway, and Tetsuya notices that he's in the same class as Aomine and smiles slightly when he notices that Aomine has his head down on his desk, not paying any attention to what's happening in the classroom. He bows to the class and says, "It's a pleasure to be here. Hino-sensei, do you mean if I sit there?" 

He's pointing to the chair behind Aomine, and Mr. Hino raises an eyebrow and asks him if he's sure that he wants to sit there, and Tetsuya nods his head with a blank face but has a small, mischievous smile on his lips.  The teacher sighs and nods his head as Tetsuya walks down the aisle towards the desk, and as he passes Aomine's desk, he kicks lightly at Aomine's chair, jolting him awake, and has his head jerk up to look around. Tetsuya slips into the chair behind him as Aomine says, "Who did that, huh?!"

"Good morning, Aomine-kun." Tetsuya says as Daiki glares at everyone in the class, only to whip his head around to look at Tetsuya, who's sitting behind him with a blank face, but if you look close enough, you can see the playful glint in his eyes as he watches Daiki look at him with his mouth open and eyes wide.  "T---Tetsu?! What are you doing here?!" He said as he saw that Tetsuya was wearing a Touou uniform instead of a Seiren uniform, which was the school that Aomine last knew that Tetsuya went to, and not to Touou.

Tetsuya sighs as he says, "If you were paying attention to the teacher a few minutes ago, you would know that I transferred here. I'll explain the rest later during lunch." Aomine nods his head as he turns back around and places his head back down on his desk, making Tetsuya sigh again. "It's not like we're learning anything important right now, Tetsu. Besides, with you here now, you can just help me along with Ryou." Daiki says as he yawns and closes his eyes when Tetsuya says, "I'm not responsible for helping you to pass Aomine-kun, please pay attention when class starts."  His response came in the form of a light snore, and he just shook his head with a small smile as he looked out the window when he realized the homeroom was just a free period for them before first period started.

....

"So, what are you doing here, Tetsu?"  Aomine asked as they both of them are sitting on the roof for lunch, and Tetsuya sighs as he says, "My parents got transferred to a different Tokyo branch of the company that they work for, and this school was closer to our new house, so I transferred here."  Aomine nods his head and says, "Does Akashi know? Wait, don't answer that, of course, he knows."  Tetsuya has a slight smirk when Daiki says that before taking a bite of his lunch and looks at Aomine when he says, "You are joining the basketball team, right?" Tetsuya looks at him before saying, "That is the plan, but if I do, you have to show up for practices on time and no leaving early or skipping Aomine-kun." 

Aomine just sighs as he nods his head and says, "Alright, Tetsuya, we'll do this your way for now, but do try to keep up, will you?" Tetsuya deadpans at him for a few seconds before letting a smirk appear on his lips as she says, "I will if you can, Aomine-kun."  They both smirk at each other as the bell rings to let them know that lunch is ending and to get back to their classrooms before class starts again, and as they are walking downstairs from the roof to their classroom, Aomine says, "I guess we have to wait for practice to see, don't we, Tetsu?"

"I guess we do, Aomine-kun, guess we do." Tetsuya says as they walk into their classroom and sit down at their desks, waiting for classes to be over with and for basketball practice to start.
