Chapter 2: 𓏵『First ⨾ wake.』𓏵

Chapter Text

iNSaNiTY.

What makes a person necessarily sane?

Their morals?

Their actions?

Is it the way they speak?

Or the way they view society?

The answer, simply none of these.

In this world, iNSaNiTY is just a state of being.

It's measured by how far they can prove themselves and bend away from the expectations of others,

how far they can go before finally giving into the unknown of their own existence.

PATIENT 1# first person view.

Wake up. It's time to wake up. The other parts from your brain are awake, but it's not just them that are trying to wake you.

The staff are shaking your arm lightly, look away. Pretend you're not waking up. It's their job to wake you up but that doesn't mean you have to, right?

You're here against your will. Deemed ill by society yet not lost nor old enough for a jail cell. How long have you been here for? Too long to remember what it was like to be 'normal'. That was before you were struck by all the expectations. All the work that would never be enough. All the emotional labor that was shoved off as 'affection'. All the suffering you went through before snapping, giving into iNSaNiTY.

"we know you're awake, it's time for your vitals" A rather nagging tone grumbled. the staff had seen through your attempts to isolate multiple times yet again.

Whatever, you couldn't just stay in bed all day anyways, so of course you had to wake up at some point. Reluctantly, you sit up, eyes scanning directly across the room where a bed identical to yours lay empty, and then, over to the door where a rather grumpy personnel was being talked down by one of the nurses. Immediately, you note the throbbing in your head but brush it off to sitting up too quick.

"You skipped last night's meds, didn't you?" This time, the voice was that of a kind female, probably the nurse. Your feet hit the cold, tiled floor as you slipped out of bed, head hanging low but not denying the accusation. It was the truth though, you'd pushed the pills to the side with your tongue right before swallowing, dealing with the bitter taste until you spit them out in a napkin you'd saved from the cafeteria.

"how long has this been going on for?" She asks hesitantly while maintaining a soft, almost nervous smile.
