Chapter 1: The unfortunate
Summary:
What Rumi didn't want to happen, happened.
Chapter Text
Rumi was finally getting her dorm tomorrow, unfortunately she was getting some roommates too but she was okay with it as long as they were nice, other than that college would be hard having to deal with shitty roommates everyday and that's the last thing she would want.
Rumi was studying musical theatre, as she wants to become a singer in the future and form a famous group one day, Rumi has always wanted that as a kid. It took some, or a lot of convincing. Celine wanted her to study becoming a lawyer, but Rumi begged and begged until Celine was sick of her endless pleading that she gave up and told her to do whatever. It was worth it, even though it took her a heck of a long time.
But, it also seems that she can't catch a break from two shitheads, aka. Zoey and Mira who bother each other everyday, her included. She has a genuine hatred for them. She thought that once highschool ended, she was finally going to be free from their endless bullshit. But, no. Turns out they both attended the same college as her, both of them, and class. Just her luck. So she sees them everyday, and they bother her everyday, every chance they get. College life was going to be hard, for sure. She can't report them because she also picks these fights and pulls pranks on them too, and she isn't a good liar, so she can't risk that at all.
It was currently early in the morning, and class hasn't begun yet and Rumi was sitting down at her desk, taking notes. The light from the sun stretched out of the blinds of the classrooms windows, dust particles were floating around, visibly, and the room was quiet, it was a peaceful environment. Rumi relaxes her shoulder and hums to herself as she scribbles down notes into her spiraled notebook, enjoying the peace. No one bothering her, no one teasing her, no one pulling pranks or fighting.
She taps her foot, still scribbling notes until her notebook suddenly disappeared in one fell swoop. She paused, her hand holding the pencil gliding over the desk, where her notebook was laid just a moment ago and then just disappeared into thin air, or rather, snatched.
Rumi looked up, her eyes following the familiar figure standing infront of her until she met their gaze. It was Zoey. What the hell was she doing here so early in the morning?
"Give that back, Zoey." Rumi orders, her tone firm and clearly annoyed.
Zoey smirks. "And if I don't?" Her tone the complete opposite of Rumi's, she was enjoying being a total bitch. Which is normal for Rumi at this point.
"Zoey, it's too early for your bullshit." Rumi complains, still seated, pencil still in hand giving Zoey a death stare, waiting for her notebook to be handed back to her.
Zoey still kept that smirk on her face, amused of Rumi's angry attitude. "So grumpy." Zoey says.
"Bother Mira when she comes in here or something, I'm not in the mood of this shit." Rumi says, her tone angry. She could feel the corner of her ears burning up from how annoyed and angry she was getting.
And the girl who stood above her, still had that stupid smirk on her face and then she tossed her notebook behind her with a sarcastic, "Oops."
Rumi places down her pencil and quickly stands up from her seat, she pauses, giving Zoey a death stare again but Zoey's expression remained the same.
Rumi purposely shoved Zoey to the side and approaches her notebook that laid on the floor, kneeling down to pick it up.
"Someone's extra extra grump today." Zoey says from behind her.
"I'm always 'this' grumpy, asshole." Rumi replies, picking her notebook off the ground.
"Actually my name is Zoey." Zoey says, with a dramatic voice and pose.
Rumi stands up, notebook in hand giving her a flat expression in a way to tell her that she's not funny and that she looks incredibly dumb right now.
"You're no fun." Zoey says, posture droopy now disappointed from the reaction.
Rumi sits back down, ignoring her completely. She places her notebook back down onto her desk and picks her pencil back up, ignoring Zoey's presence and how she's standing there, disappointed.
Zoey fixes her posture, and hovers over Rumi, looking at her notes.
Rumi shoves her out of the way with an arm. "Why are you trying to act like we're friends?" Rumi asks.
Zoey falls back slightly and pouts. "Sometimes enemies should act like friends." Zoey says, hovering over her again.
"That makes no sense." Rumi says, continuing to shove her. "I don't like you, actually I hate you, go away and bother Mira instead when she comes." Rumi says, annoyed.
Zoey rolls her eyes. "Guys, she's a feisty one." Zoey teases, but there is no one else in the classroom.
"And who's fault is that?" Rumi says, glaring up at her still trying to shove her away.
"Not mine!" Zoey says, with a grin.
Rumi's anger only grows. "You're fucking pathetic." Rumi says.
"Right back at ya!" Zoey says with a low chuckle.
Rumi eventually gives up on trying to make Zoey go away and just allows her to watch her write down notes, even if she didn't enjoy the presence, she had no other choice. She was in no mood to fight early in the morning, even if she did a lot of times in high school. She knows Zoey was only doing this to annoy the hell out of her, and it was working.
Later, the classroom door opens and shuts closed. Zoey turned around and Rumi glanced behind her.
It was Mira.
Oh, great.
What a coincidence they all decided to come early.
Rumi groans. "Great a second asshole." Rumi says, in a sarcastic tone but she means it.
"That's not so nice." Mira says, approaching them. "But anyway I agree, what are two assholes doing here this early in the morning?"
Rumi ignores her, her attention fully on her notes.
Mira walks over to her, standing Infront of Rumi's desk. "Ignoring me, huh?" She scoffs.
Silence.
Mira picked up her notebook and before Rumi could yell at her to give it back she shoved it right in her face.
Rumi went still, basically accepting it, but she wasn't. She was taken aback by the sudden move, like, what the hell?
Zoey laughed, hard, at the scene.
Mira switched her attention to her, still shoving Rumi's notebook in her face. "You're not safe either." Mira says, and looks down, taking the pencil out of Rumi's hands and throwing it at Zoey's face.
Zoey yelped, scrunching her face. "Oh‒ Oh you bastard! That could've gone in my eye!" Zoey yells.
Mira points a finger with her free hand and laughs. "Head shot!"
Zoey's own anger begins to bubble and kneels down to pick the pencil back up and throws it at Mira.
Her laughing instantly stopped and froze, eyes closed, and the sound of the pencil hitting the floor.
Zoey laughed, like her life depended on it because it was revenge. "HAHA, loser!" Zoey keeps laughing.
Mira slowly tilted her head straight and opened her eyes, seeing how Zoey was absolutely laughing her ass off. So she took the notebook off of Rumi's face and threw it at her.
Rumi's eyes followed her notebook until it hit Zoey, eyebrows furrowing in anger as she watched her notebook hit the floor.
Zoey picked it up and threw it back. They were throwing it back and forth, with her notebook. She watched the scene, her anger growing more and more the longer it went on for.
Then she slammed both of her hands onto her desk, picking herself up. The sudden noise besides their back and forth 'revenge' made them pause and look at her.
"Stop your bullshit right fucking now." Rumi demands, "I don't want the professor suddenly walking in here and seeing whatever you're doing and get us in trouble." She orders them. She didn't want them to be the reason her dreams of becoming a singer get flushed down the drain.
Zoey and Mira listen and stop, they know they wouldn't want to get in trouble either, so they hand her notebook back.
Mira pushes her off her chair slightly as she walked by Rumi to head to her own desk.
"Bastard." Rumi mumbles under her breath.
Mira did the same to Zoey who was also walking to her own desk, making her stumble over a desk.
Mira snorts, sitting in her own desk now.
Rumi watched them, but not making it obvious.
"Hey‒ What the hell!" Zoey yells at her, standing back up.
Mira was laughing against the crook of her arm, hiding her face.
Zoey rushed towards her and shoves Mira off her seat.
"Ow‒" Mira mumbles when she hit the floor, landing on her bottom.
Zoey gives her a dirty look before turning around and walking off.
Rumi was entertained by their childish fighting.
Mira quickly stood back up before Zoey could walk to her desk, and tripped her, making her fall onto the floor.
Zoey grunted in pain.
Rumi had to hold back a laugh because of the grunt and the thud once she had hit the ground.
"Payback." Mira chuckles, proudly as she began walking back to her desk.
Zoey quickly got up despite the pain, and jumped on Mira's back, making them both fall onto the floor.
"Ow‒ What the‒" Mira says, grunting at the impact and the weight of Zoey on her back.
Rumi did a silent pfft, amused by the scene going on behind her.
Then suddenly the door opened, making all of their attentions switched to that direction, except Mira who was being squished.
"What the‒ What is going on in here!?" Their professor said, their professor was who walked in.
Zoey quickly got off of Mira, making her land on her bottom but she quickly stood up. Mira was gasping for air loudly, trying to catch her breath and slowly stood up, placing a hand on the desk beside her for support. And Rumi who knew they were fucked.
"They're just joking around sir!" Rumi says, Zoey nodding in agreement, and Mira who was still trying to catch her breath.
This was college, they weren't going to get a detention but possibly a suspension for their dumb behavior.
Their professor just stares at them, suspiciously. "Next time, all 3 of you will get in serious trouble if I see this again." He says.
Rumi jumped, all 3? "Sir, why me!? I was just sitting here!" She says, confused but also trying to be polite. Shit, she did say something first and that made her seem like she was apart of it, she should've just kept her mouth shut.
The professor looks at her and says, "I've been told you guys have a history of causing trouble." He answers.
Rumi tensed, startled by the way he knows. She glanced to Zoey and Mira who look just as surprised. Damn did we really cause that much trouble that our future college professor would know? Even though their professor knows, she knows they won't stop at all. They would somehow find a way to still cause shit to each other.
Since no one was saying anything and they were just standing there, stunned, she said something. "Okay, I apologize sir." Rumi says, she bows a little, still seated.
Their professor nods slowly, clearly still suspicious and begins setting his things up for when class begins.
She looked at Mira and Zoey, expression serious and she mouths. "You guys are dumb." She flips them off, hiding it with another desk behind her, but enough for them to see.
They both mouth. "Fuck you." Before walking to their own desks.
Rumi turned back around so that she was now facing forward, and she was now finally able to write her notes, peacefully. Even though her notebook was a little wrinkly from Mira and Zoey's endless horse play with her notebook, she would manage as long as her notes were still readable, which luckily they were.
She let out a relieved sigh, and went back to writing her notes.
More people began to enter the classroom and conversations started growing in the classroom, loud. She was still scribbling down notes until she felt something hit the back of her head, but it wasn't hard. She looked down to see it was a crumbled up piece of paper, she looked back up to see Zoey laughing, trying to hide it but it was super obvious.
Rumi groaned in frustration because of the interruption.
"They really just don't leave you alone, huh?" Jinu says, leaning forward to her.
Rumi lets out a big sigh. "When do they ever." She says, leaning down to grab the piece of paper, glancing at the professor to see if he's looking and throws it back.
"Y'all should like, kiss and make up." Jinu suggests, somehow serious.
Rumi gives him a disgusted look. "Okay‒ What the hell is wrong with you? Genuinely." She says, facing back to the front of the class.
"No, but I'm serious!" He says.
Rumi side eyes him. "That's just gross. Plus, they just have beef with me for no reason." She says.
"Yeah, yeah, you tried being the cool kid one day to stop their fighting and just became apart of it blah blah." He says, mockingly.
"Oh shut up." She says earning a giggle from Jinu.
"But they're pretty!" He says, still suggesting.
"If you think they're pretty then you kiss them." She says.
"No, ew! But, think about it, you guys have the chemistry!" He says, smiling.
She looks at him, unamused. "Why are you so passionate about it?" She says.
"Interesting throuple." He says, expression normal like it was the most normal thing in the entire world.
Rumi was baffled, speechless, didn't even know what to say to that. She slowly turned her head away and just ignore that he even said such thing to her at all. She raises her eyebrows in disbelief.
"Bu‒"
"Please never speak again, I take your speaking privileges away." She says, still in utter shock.
Jinu just laughs. "You know I'm just joking."
Rumi's still shocked. "That just‒ Who just says that!?" She says, screaming but whispering.
Jinu actually thinks about it, looking up at the ceiling. "Me?" He answers, shrugging.
She shakes her head. "You're unbelievable." She crosses her arms and leans back.
"And I'm your bestest friend ever!" He says, proudly.
Rumi rolls her eyes with a slight grin. "Whatever."
"Class! Quiet down and take your notebooks out." The professor orders, as class is about to start.
Jinu beside her quickly shuffled back into his seat, and the conversations between classmates that filled the classroom quickly died out.
She was already ready, so she sat there until class finally started.
-
The class felt long, she was going to walk with Jinu to find out what her dorm was going to be but he had to do something and leave so now she's walking down a hallway by herself. She's actually really nervous to find out who her roommates will be, her heart was pounding in her chest from nervousness and excitement.
She was walking pretty fast and she didn't even realize. Until, she suddenly got tripped. The person was running away, but not fast enough, so she quickly grabbed the person by the leg making them fall down with her.
She groaned and slowly sat up and squinted her eyes to see who she had brought down with her and, it was Mira.
Seriously?
She exhaled, trying to make her annoyance audible. She wasn't even surprised, she should've expected that. She kneeled and started dusting off her hoodie.
Mira slowly got up, picking herself up, supporting herself with both hands bringing herself onto her knees and held her stomach. "Ouch, you made me fall onto my stomach!" Mira groaned in pain.
Rumi stood up and started dusting off her pants also. "Maybe next time don't trip me you jerk." She said.
Before Mira could say anything else, Rumi ran away.
Ugh, what an asshole. Rumi thought to herself as she walk toward the table where asb kids are handing out room numbers, and they were split in alphabetical order. There was a lot of people walking around also getting their dorms. Luckily, her section was a little empty so she headed to the correct letter table, waiting in line for a bit.
"Name?" A student asks.
"Rumi." She answers.
The students search for her name in the pile of papers laid out on the table until they finally find it.
"Here you go." One of the students pass her the paper and a key included.
"Thanks." She says, taking them and walks away.
She reads the paper and mumbles to herself, "Okay, K-226" She says, nodding and begins searching for the room number.
Her heart started pounding in her chest again, who was she going to share a dorm with? Her dorm was 3 stories up, damn she was going to have to walk down and up those a lot, maybe everyday.
She then stops infront of a door and looks down at her paper. K-226 and then she looks back up to see if they match. K-226. She exhales, nervously and opens the door, slowly and gently, peeking inside. It was dark, and the cool air hit her face instantly and the smell of the room, chemicals. They must've cleaned it beforehand.
She entered fully and slowly leaned back clicking the door closed behind her. It seems that there was no one in here yet. She took her shoes off before she started exploring, she could feel the cold wooden floor through her socks. There were 3 bathrooms and 3 rooms. A dining table with chairs. A kitchen with marble counter-tops, a stove, fridge, dishwasher, a sink. A living room with a big couch, with neatly placed pillows, a TV in the front and a table in the middle with a remote on top.
The rooms looked really nice, the sheets looked nice and washed, unused. The couch looked soft and comfortable, a plant vase beside the TV.
This already felt a lot like home, she was really going to enjoy this place unless she finds out her roommates are shitty. She was going to wait for them so they can choose their rooms together, she had all her packed things waiting in her car. So she sat down on the couch and grabbed out her phone out to text Jinu.
Rumi: Hey goober
She looks at the screen for a few minutes, waiting. He usually replies fast, maybe he's still busy.
She leans back, setting her phone aside and sighs, relaxing into the couch and feeling the cool breeze hitting her face from the AC, she closes her eyes.
Then suddenly the door opens, startling Rumi. She jolted up, fixing her posture to see who it is, she can tell it's just one person from the shadow.
Wait.
A familiar shadow.
Rumi leaned to the side to peek. Rumi's eyes went wide.
Are you fucking kidding me.
It was Zoey, who just came inside, her dorm. Their dorm. They share a dorm? No, it must be a mistake. She was in disbelief, she didn't even say anything, just looked at the table infront of her, like it was the one who made them get the same dorm.
She could hear Zoey shuffling around, assuming she's taking off her shoes or something and setting her packed things down aside from the door.
Zoey walked, eyes wandering around until she saw Rumi who was sitting on the couch. Instead of being as disappointed as she is, she instantly burst into laughter.
"Holy shit!" She wheezed. "No fucking way‒" She laughed, nearly falling onto her knees but grabbed onto the side of the couch to keep balance.
Rumi was speechless.
The door opened again. Hopefully this person who is entering at the moment is much better and bearable than this person laughing her ass off.
Zoey looked, she had a better view of who the person is from where she was standing, she leaned back and just started laughing even harder, slowly falling onto her knees, her hands still on the couch.
Rumi just watched her, it took awhile for the person to appear, assuming they're setting their packed things aside. Once she saw a person appear at the side of her vision, she looked up, hoping Zoey was laughing harder just because she's dumb and stupid and‒
Are you fucking kidding me. Again.
It was Mira.
It was fucking Mira.
Mira looked just as shocked as she just stood there, lips parted as she looked at the girl laughing her ass off and the girl who looks like she just saw a ghost. But no one was going to be just as shocked as her. Singer dream, gone. Famous group she wants to be apart of, gone. Future, gone. Because at this point she was just going to end it right here, right now, her life, just like that.
Same college, now same dorm. Her luck is just incredible.
Mira's jaw was dropped, and Zoey was still dying of laughter.
Rumi stood up, eyes darting to the both of them trying to make sure this isn't some hallucination, she wishes it was. She looked down at her hand and pinched herself, hard to make sure this wasn't a crazy nightmare. It wasn't.
"This has to be a mistake." She finally spoke.
Mira's shocked expression, got replaced with a grin. "Definitely not." She says, like she was damn happy about it, which Rumi was not.
"T‒This shit is fate!" Zoey breathed out, wheezing.
Rumi blinked, trying to remember how to think, function. "K-226, right?"
Mira looks down at her paper and nods, "Yep."
Zoey shakily checks her own, trying to stop her laughter so she can speak properly. "Yes." She confirms, then continues to laugh.
Rumi stands there, shocked, looking at the wooden floor in-between them.
"Hell to the no." She said, approaching the door.
Mira watched. "Where you going?" She asks, watching Rumi put her shoes on.
"Changing my dorm." She answers, tying her shoelaces.
"That's offensive." Mira jokes, smiling and crossing her arms.
Rumi just shook her head and stood up, Zoey's laughter still going on in the background.
She opened the door and shut it closed behind her.
What the hell.
Zoey, and Mira. Her roommates. Sharing a dorm, with them. With her. Yeah, no, doesn't sound right. Not one bit. She is going to ask if she can change her dorm.
She rushed down the stairs like she had just seen the most horrifying thing ever, which she did. She walked until she finds the desk with asb students gathered behind tables and still handing out keys and papers to people, she walks back to where she gotten her items and stood there until one of the students notice her.
"Hello, miss, do you need something?" The student asks.
"May I change my dorm?" She asks.
The student looks back and talks with another for a moment, then looks back at her.
"No we can't, I'm sorry...Unless someone is willing to switch with you."
She quickly nods. "Yes please."
"Okay, we will email you tomorrow to see if there is anyone." The student says.
"Thank you." She says, then walks away. Great, now she has to go back inside that God forsaken dorm.
She stopped at the front of the dorm, and check her paper again to see if she read it right, but the key worked so she doesn't even know what she's trying. K-226 written on the paper, and... K-226 written on the door. She sighed. Unfortunately, they match. She unlocked the door and went inside, hesitantly.
Then a voice instantly came. "Mission failed?" Mira asks, grinning, she was sitting on the couch with one leg up and one arm slung over the back of the couch.
Rumi looked like she just saw something she shouldn't have and slowly shakes her head. "There's a chance I can switch with someone." She says. That got her hopes up, she has a chance to switch with someone and not be with them.
Hell‒ They're literally so annoying and disrespectful that they would just walk into her room and bother her without warning or knocking. That was an example so she hopes that isn't true. But she's just going to have to be cautious with everything. Changing especially and the clothes she wears when in her room, she can't be seen with...those. She looks down to her sleeves. She can't be seen with them by anyone.
She sighs. "Let's just pick our rooms now."
"I call dibs on this one!" Zoey rushes to the room but Mira stops her.
"I wanted that one." Mira says, pushing Zoey away.
Zoey pouts and shoves her too. "I want that one."
And they go back and forth arguing about what room they want, not even 5 seconds later when she said that. Is this the shit she's really going to have to deal with everyday now if it turns out nobody wants to switch with her.
Rumi watched them, disappointed. "You guys are such...animals." She says. Then points at a room they aren't fighting for. "Toodles." She says, giving a peace sign over her shoulder as she approaches the room until she suddenly gets pulled back.
"That was my second option." Mira says, shoving her away.
Rumi furrowed her eyebrows in anger and grabs onto Mira's shirt from behind and pulls her.
"Hey‒" Mira says, losing balance. Before Mira could grab her, Rumi already ran inside the room, she quickly turned her body around to face Mira and stuck her tongue out.
"And you call me an animal." Mira mutters, getting up.
Zoey ran inside the room her and Mira were previously fighting for.
Mira's jaw dropped, and Zoey pointed a finger at her and laughed before shutting the door.
"Oh‒ Oh great!" She said, whiny. "I hate you all." She yells before approaching the room she did not want.
Rumi closed the door and inspected the room. There was a bed, a desk, and book shelves. Yeah, she was definitely going to decorate her room once she finds out if she can switch or not, so, empty room for now.
She sat down at the corner of the bed, and grabbed her phone out of her pocket.
She had a notification from Jinu.
Jinu: Hey sorry I was still busy, got to your dorm?
Rumi: Fucking sadly.
Jinu: WHAT WHY???
Rumi: You wouldn't believe it. I'm in shock, speechless, everything, all of the above.
Jinu: Don't tell me.....
Rumi: I got a dorm with Mira and Zoey. Not even one but both.
Jinu: HAHAH NO WAY.
Rumi: Unfortunately yes.
Jinu: Like I said, throuple...
Rumi furrowed her eyebrows at the text. Okay, what the hell is wrong with him.
Rumi: YOU'RE NOT HELPING.
Jinu: OK OK I'M SORRY 😭
Rumi: I asked if I could switch.
Jinu: Can you?
Rumi: I hope, I'll know by tomorrow.
Jinu: This is crazy chat...
Rumi rolls her eyes and checks the time. It was getting late and she should be heading to sleep, until her door opened.
Rumi flinched and quickly turned her head. It was Mira. Her hair was dripping wet, a towel around her neck and wearing pajamas, she was probably going to sleep but decided to bother her first. And she was right about them not knocking, unfortunately.
"Learn how to knock." She says, placing her phone aside.
Mira looks at her up and down. "I see you didn't shower." Mira says, squeezing her hair with the towel.
"And you care because..?" Rumi asks, arching an eyebrow.
"I don't want you stinking up the dorm, go shower." Mira orders.
"You're not my mom." She says.
"So you like being stinky?" Mira asks, tone playful.
Rumi looked at her, offended. "Of course not! But since I'm waiting to find out if I can switch or not, I can't unpack my things." She said.
Mira stands there, just staring at her. "You can borrow some of my clothes and, a towel." She says.
Rumi's eyes go wide. Huh? "Ew? No." She says in audible disgust, crossing her arms.
"I'm trying to be nice here and like I said, I don't want you stinking up the dorm." Mira says.
"I don't stink!" Rumi groans.
"Yeah, sure, arguing not wanting to shower, definitely do not stink." Mira says, chuckling a little, still squeezing her hair.
"That's because I don't want to borrow your shit!" She continues to refuse. But she really does want to take a shower.
"Okay, whatever." Mira says, turning around.
Rumi watches, then groans in defeat. "Okay! Fine." She says, plopping onto the bed on her back.
Mira nods with a grin like I knew it and walked out.
About a minute later she came back with pajamas and a towel. Surprisingly, the pajamas didn't look stupid or anything, they were all black.
She stared as she set them down on the desk. "They don't have any stupid writing on them right?" She asks, suspicious.
"No." Mira answers.
"You sure?"
"Yes."
"Show me."
Mira sighs, loud, clearly annoyed. Then unfolds the shirt, holding it up and flips it around. Mira peeks from the side, eyebrows raised looking at the shirt and to Rumi like: See bitch? Nothing.
Rumi squinted like she would magically find something written. "Hmm...Alright." She says. "What about the pants."
"No asshole."
"Ar‒"
"Ask again and I'm taking this all back so you can't shower." Mira says, cutting her off, giving her a sarcastic, annoyed smile.
"Okay, okay." Rumi says. "Now get out." She orders.
Mira turns around, walking out the door, until, "Wait." Rumi says, stopping Mira.
"Oh my God, what?" She says, turning around to look at Rumi all droopy and tired.
"Dang someone is cranky. But anyway did Zoey shower?" She asks.
Mira nods, "Yeah, I heard her walk out the bathroom." She answers.
"Where's my bathroom?" Rumi asks.
"The one closest to your room, now bye." Mira walks out.
Dang...
Rumi stood up and approached the things Mira allowed her to borrow. She picked up the pants and there was nothing, no silly writing or anything to try and prank her. Hmm... Why was she being so nice? Very odd. But she shrugged at the thought, ignoring it.
Rumi picked them up and slowly opened the door and searched for her bathroom, the one closest to my room... She finds it, then opens the door and turns on the light. She slightly gets blinded, but it looked surprisingly clean, well, she would hope so since she's going to be living here now. There was a shower with a white curtain, a clean toilet, a sink that also has marble counter-tops and cabinets below and on the walls. That would be perfect to lay all her face products, soaps and everything else.
She slowly slid her sweater off, so that now she was just in a shirt and looked at herself in the mirror. Her scars. That she made herself. Rumi inhaled, shaky. She could never look at them normally without feeling a pang of guilt, shame, and weakness. Uneven and long but not fresh, curving at her arms and shoulders, some on her stomach and hips. She pulls the waistband of her pants down so she can reveal more.
She lets out a long sigh and looks away from the mirror.
She should really shower now.
-
She took a quick shower, she didn't need to wash her hair, just her body.
Both of their doors were shut, no light peeking out from the bottom, so they're probably asleep or just scrolling through their phones in the dark or anything else.
The pajamas that she was borrowing to her were actually nice and comfortable, but she had to wear the hoodie to bed since what Mira gave her was just a shirt, she wouldn't but she got such amazing roommates who don't have manners and don't knock on the door like a normal person. So yeah, she can't risk it.
She settles in bed, letting out a content sigh as she pulls the blanket over her. She curls up, the tired feeling getting to her now. She was hoping that she would be able to switch dorms tomorrow so she can have a proper room and better roommates. Hopefully she won't be disappointed this time.
Rumi closes her eyes at the thought.
Maybe tomorrow will be a better day.

Chapter Text
Rumi was still asleep, snoring lightly. The sun was already out, as it peeked out from the bottom of the curtains of her hopefully soon not to be room. She was sleeping in, she would normally be awake maybe hours ago to wake up and go straight to studying. Luckily, there are no classes today so she won't be late to anything, but she still does have to study. She slowly began to wake up, blinking her eyes slowly, stretching her body with a low groan. She finally blinked her eyes to fully open without feeling like she was being blinded and notices the unfamiliar place surrounding her. She rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand, yawning. She opens her eyes again and tosses the blanket aside to sit up at the corner of the bed, eyes wandering, observing the unfamiliar enviroment that she had just woke up in. Oh, right, the dorm that she unfortunately shares with two shitheads.
She then brings her arms up and stretches them, shutting her eyes. She blinks her eyes open, still trying to fully wake up, and looks down to see her wearing pajamas that she doesn't own. She stared at them, thinking, these aren't mine. Then she realized‒ oh, Mira's. The pajamas she let her borrow because she didn't want her 'stinking up the dorm.' She rolls her eyes as the memory played in her head and finally stands up.
She grabs her phone that laid on the desk to check the time and realizes she had slept in. Maybe they have emailed her now about switching the dorms? She scrolled through her phone, and opened her email.
Nothing.
She huffs in disappointment. Then she suddenly smells something, cooking? It smelt really good. Then she was suddenly hit with how empty her stomach felt, she didn't eat dinner last night because she was too focused on trying to get another dorm and completely forgot. She wanted to see what it was so she headed to her door, quietly opening it and walked her way out, slowly clicking the door closed behind her.
She lazily approaches the kitchen the smell getting stronger with each step, and she sees familiar long pink hair that peeked out at the corner of a wall. It was Mira standing there, humming to herself, while chopping up some ingredients for the food she's cooking. She was the one cooking. It seems that she has gotten ready too as it looked like she didn't just wake up unlike Rumi.
Mira glanced back, seeing Rumi standing there who clearly just woke up. Rumi's hair was messy, she had strands of hair peeking out all over, and pajamas all wrinkled.
"Did someone attack you in your sleep?" Mira asks, putting her attention back to her cooking.
Rumi sat down at the counter and just rolls her eyes. "Shut up." She replies, taking out her phone to scroll on social media, but she kept eyeing the food she was making.
Mira noticed. "You want some?" She asks.
Rumi quickly darted her head upwards to make sure it was actually Mira who was the one standing there and cooking. Mira who just offered if she wanted some, but her expression slowly went back to normal. "I don't want your shit." Rumi lies, but her stomach betrays her with a loud rumble.
Mira snorts. "Yeah, sure." She chuckles, with a small smile. Her tone was unusually soft and gentle, not teasing or sarcastic like the usual, it was weird. Hella weird. Rumi didn't like that.
Rumi arched an eyebrow, looking at her again, confused of this unusual kind behavior coming from Mira, offering her food? Odd. Is she possessed? Definitely. "The hell you being nice for redhead?" Rumi asks, eyes going back down to her phone once again.
"Are you allergic to kindness?" Mira asks.
"From you." She mutters, still scrolling.
Mira just smiles a low chuckle escaping her lips. "I'm making ramen by the way." She turns around to face Rumi as she waits for the water to boil.
"Didn't ask." Rumi replies, dryly.
"So grumpy." She says, the smile remaining on her face as she watches Rumi scrolling on her phone, and Rumi who did not dare look at her.
"I wonder why." Rumi mutters, her elbow propped onto the counter, her cheek squished. She was still tired.
Mira stares for a second. "You're gonna switch dorms?" Mira asks.
"Don't know yet. I hope so." She says, making her tone more happier at the last part trying to make it loud and clear that she genuinely wants to escape them.
Mira nods and turns her direction back to the ramen once she hears that the water was starting to boil, then she picks up the cutting board and pouring all the ingredients into the pot.
Even though Mira was in her presence, it was oddly...peaceful. At least for now. She knows that this weirdly nice Mira is going to go back to that normal shitty Mira she knows, but she will savor this little peace she's getting right now. No fighting. No yelling. No‒
"I smell something good!" Zoey suddenly screams, running out of her room. Her hair messy, collar of her shirt uneven, she clearly woke up to the smell of ramen and bolted out of her room instantly without a second thought.
Well, great. Rumi jinxed it, the peace she felt for a moment, gone. "Keep it down." She says, side eyeing Zoey.
Zoey yawns and sits on a chair that's 3 seats away from Rumi. "Someone's not a morning person." Zoey says, playfully.
"Yeah, she already cussed me out." Mira says, stirring the food, the smell of the ramen cooking filling their dorm.
Zoey laughs. "Damn‒"
Rumi lets out a loud groan, blocking out their voices, then looks straight, eyes darting to the both of them. "Holy shit! You guys act like I don't act like this on a daily basis!" She yells at them.
They just stare at her blinking. Zoey suddenly snorts and starts laughing, Mira turns back around to hide her smile. That only made Rumi more angry, her cheeks and the corner of her ears getting hot.
"You‒ you should've seen the look on your face!" Zoey struggles to get the words out inbetween wheezes, pointing at her.
Rumi furrowed her eyebrows and glanced to Mira who was still turned around, it was obvious she was laughing too by the way her shoulders and back were twitching.
Rumi closes her eyes and exhales, trying to keep her shit together so she doesn't lash out on them.
"Are you meditating?" Zoey asks, her laughing finally calming down.
"Shut the fuck up." Rumi says, giving her a sarcastic maybe threatening to kill her smile before going back to trying to keep her shit together before she kills them both in this very moment.
Zoey just rolls her eyes and sniffs up the smell of ramen. "Am I getting any?" Zoey asks, she was being sarcastic but‒
"Sure." Mira replies.
Zoey froze for a second, huh? She was just as shocked as Rumi when Mira offered her food. A sure? Holy shit, is she possessed? Is this the real Mira?
Zoey blinked, eyes wide, like if she kept blinking there would suddenly be someone else who isn't Mira standing there, but no. Nothing. It was actually Mira.
"Where did the real Mira go?" Zoey says, baffled, shock clear in her voice, still blinking.
"Holy crap are you guys allergic to kindness?" Mira turns to them for a moment, eyebrows furrowed, then turns away again to continue cooking. This was the second time she was attacked for showing the tiniest amount of kindness to them.
Zoey let out a chuckle of whether she should be scared or, glad? "No, it's just like‒" Zoey paused, trying to think of the right words.
"Like?" Mira asks, eyebrow arched but they can't see that.
"Like, unusual..." Zoey says.
"Well surprise surprise I'm capable of being kind, assholes." Mira says, turning her head around again to give them a fake smile.
"Shocker." Rumi chimes in.
"Do you want ramen or not?" Mira asks, tone annoyed.
"Okay okay!" Rumi puts her hands up in surrender.
Mira poured a good amount of ramen for all 3 of them and approached them with hers and their bowls, she sets their bowls down infront of them and places her own down last. She sits in the middle of them so that they're not sitting to close to each other, mainly Rumi...she would feel the heat radiating off her before she even yells at her to sit somewhere else, somewhere farther. Coming from something that has happened before.
Rumi grabs her chopsticks that Mira laid beside her bowl, and glanced to Mira's own bowl for a second. "Fatass, you gave yourself the most." Rumi says, making herself laugh a little.
Mira rolls her eyes. "Need the carbs for dancing." Mira says.
Rumi laughs at her, "Dumbass did you forget it's the weekend?"
"I have weekend classes." Mira side eyes her.
Rumi clears her throat. "Right." She says. "That sucks for you."
Mira didn't reply, but did with a side eye again, and just started eating her ramen, Rumi did the same. Zoey was slurping her ramen so loud it was probably filling up the entire dorm.
"Could you slurp any louder?" Rumi finally yells, noodles dangling off her chopsticks as she was about to take a bite but couldn't ignore the loud ass slurping happening in the background.
"I can actually!" Zoey says, about to take a bite, knowing Zoey she was actually going to do it louder.
"You know what I meant!" Rumi says, pausing Zoey from taking the bite.
Zoey does a mocking expression and looks back at Rumi's angered face. "Be like Mira, she doesn't care."
"I do, it's annoying as hell." Mira says, still calmly eating her ramen.
Zoey blinked at her then pouted. "Bitches." She mumbles under her breath but makes it loud enough for the both of them to hear.
Rumi raises her eyebrows, shoulders relaxing at the finally quiet dorm and turns her attention back to her ramen looking at it like: finally.
They all eventually finished their ramen and started putting it in the sink.
"Who's washing dishes?" Rumi asks, putting her bowl in the sink.
"Not it!" Zoey says, placing a finger over her nose.
Before Rumi could even react‒ "Not it!" Mira says behind her, making Rumi quickly turn her head to see her finger on her nose too.
Rumi groans. "Dude." She says. Why did I even ask. "All your disgusting mouths were on these!?" She says, pointing at the chopsticks.
Mira and Zoey shrug, and Zoey skedaddles away. Rumi's head followed her until she was gone, jaw dropped.
"It's only fair, I cooked." Mira says, walking away.
Rumi just grumbles, knowing that she's right, but Zoey? Fuck her.
A few minutes later she heard shuffling somewhere near the front door, she turns her head to try and peek and sees Mira for a second before she was hidden behind a wall. She must be going to class now. Great, she's alone with Zoey now. Better than two, right..?
Rumi washes the last bowl and shakes the water off before setting it onto the dish rack.
She washes her hands with intense effort because she had just washed contaminated utensils, then dries her hands off.
Once she checks if she is completely finished with everything, she starts walking out of the kitchen, towards her room.
She was walking closer to her door, until‒
Slip.
Rumi slipped and fell onto her back, then Zoey came out of nowhere, falling onto her knees. Revealing her hiding spot, hands on the ground laughing her ass off. She was waiting for Rumi.
Rumi rubs her bottom to where she had landed on, hissing at the pain. She lifts her head up to Zoey who was loosing her shit. "Zoey‒ What the actual fuck!?" Rumi yells.
Zoey wheezes. "Holy shit‒ The way you fell!"
She was waiting for the pain to linger away before storming into her direction and beating her to death until she looked down. A phone in one of Zoey's hand. Yeah now she was definitely going to kill her.
"Don't tell me..." She mumbles to herself, staring at the phone while Zoey was still laughing. "Did you‒ Did you record that!?" Rumi asks, still on the floor.
"Fuck yeah!" Zoey unhesitatingly confirms, trying to even out her breathing, eyes glassy from all the laughing as she holds her stomach in pain.
Rumi furrowed her eyebrows in anger before getting up, the floor was super slippery but she managed to make it to Zoey, slipping onto her.
Zoey grunts, "What the‒" She breaths out under the weight of Rumi.
Rumi then snatches the phone out of Zoey's hand, but before she could run away with it, Zoey already grabbed onto her hoodie, sliding her back down. The floor was too slippery to escape, so they're just going to keep slipping each other down and fight for the phone on the floor.
"Give it back!" Zoey screams, practically hugging Rumi right now trying to reach for the phone.
"Not until you delete it asshole!" Rumi says, arm up like a bully teasing a short kid.
"I will! I will!" Zoey says, still reaching.
"Oh yeah fucking believable." Rumi says, slightly falling back until she fell on her back slightly grunting when the hard floor suddenly hitting her back.
Zoey climbed on top of her still trying to reach for her phone, while Rumi was trying to push and kick her off.
Then the door suddenly clicked opened, making them both pause and switch their attention to the door.
Mira blinked, trying to take in what the hell was going on. Is it what she thinks it is... "You guys seriously can't be fucking on the hard wooden floor right?" Mira asks, staring at them.
Rumi was caught off guard by that, Zoey took that as a chance to swiftly snatch her phone back and quickly get off of Rumi. Zoey's cheeks went pink as she avoids looking at either of them.
Rumi sat up, blinking, flushed red with embarrassment, did it really look like that? Until she finally spoke. "No what‒ absolutely not!" Rumi says.
"Didn't seem that way..." Mira says, shocked. "My two enemies...fucking on a hard wooden floor... definitely was not on my bingo card today." She mumbles the last part to herself.
"Oh my God no!" Zoey groans. "It was not that!!"
"Then what was it I just walked in to?" Mira asks, looking down at them, crossing her arms like she just caught her child doing something wrong. "I came back in here because I forgot something and see y'all tangled up together?" She arches an eyebrow at them.
"This asshole recorded me!" Rumi points at Zoey.
"She was trying to take my phone!!" Zoey points back.
Mira just stared, these stupid idiots. "Fucking on a hard wooden floor makes more sense." Mira says.
"Ew‒ No!? How?‒" Rumi stumbles upon her words, still embarrassed.
"From my perspective, it seemed like you guys were getting your freak on." Mira answers, laughing a little.
Rumi and Zoey glance at each other and slowly stand up, dusting themselves off, in silence.
Rumi clears her throat, breaking the awkward silence. "It was not like that." Rumi says, looking away from the both of them.
Mira nods slowly clearly sticking to the fucking on the floor.
"If I were Mira I would've thought that too." Jinu says, with a faint giggle, as he writes down notes. They were studying together as they both have the same class and want to be singers in the future.
"Uh‒ You're supposed to be on my side!?" Rumi lifts her head to look at him, offended.
"I'm just saying!" Jinu shrugs. "So Zoey is the first one you're getting with and then Mira." He nods, like he was saying something true and normal. "Got it, got it."
Rumi blinks at him, what the fuck. "You need to stop this bullshit." Rumi says, smacking his arm.
Jinu gives a low ow in response, with a small smile. "Just saying."
"You're always just saying!" Rumi rolls her eyes and feels her phone buzz in her pocket.
Her mind quickly remembered. The email.
She quickly whipped her phone out like she had an emergency. Jinu flinched, looking up at her. "You good..?" He asks, a little worried.
"The email!" She says, heart pounding in her chest, hoping, begging, pleading that it's a yes she can switch dorms and live a happy college life fore‒
It felt like everything just crumbled.
Her dreams.
Her future.
Everything.
Jinu looks at her, blinking, confused by her expression.
She was shocked, utterly shocked. She looked like she had just got shot and she's trying to register that she literally just got shot. Her face was...in shock, disbelief, wide eyes, lips parted, it looks like someone just sucked the soul out of her.
"Rumi?" Jinu places a hand over her shoulder and shook her gently. That seemed to snap her back into reality, unfortunately not a dream, but reality.
"Ehm‒" She hemmed and squints her eyes, rereading the email, making sure that she's not hallucinating that it says she can't.
She then finally faces Jinu and shoves her phone in his face. He leaned back at the sudden move, blinded by her phone suddenly being shoved in his face. He looks at it like, what the hell am I supposed to be looking at? Then the realization.
Instead of being just as defeated Rumi looked he snorted. "No way‒" He says, reading it.
Rumi snatched her phone away from his face and just sat there, KO'd. Death just might be the best option for her right now.
"Uh‒" Jinu tried to think of something to bring her back to life. "I can help you unpack..?" He offers, with a little smile.
"I could use the help." She mutters, not blinking once, or even moving. Jinu was scared as hell right now.
He scratched the back of his head and stood up with an awkward smile and helps her up, she still did not blink once. "Let's go unpack your things..." He says, slowly guiding her.
They made their way to her car, during the walk she was finally able to get her shit together and remember that she's alive and human, unfortunately she wishes she just stayed looking like a robot.
"Pinch me."
"Wha‒"
"Pinch me." Rumi orders again, giving him her hand.
He looked at her, then slowly pinched her.
"Weak ass bitch, try again." She says.
He pinches even harder now making her snatch her hand back and hold it in pain. "Ow!!‒" She whines.
Jinu blinks at her. "Oh‒"
"So it's not a dream..." She mutters, cutting him off. She opens her trunk, revealing boxes.
Jinu pats her back in attempt to comfort her. "It's okay, I'm sure it won't be so bad!" He tries to reassure her, with a gentle, and soft tone.
"I already got accused of fucking my enemy on the floor." She says, turning her head to him.
Jinu tensed, from fear and trying to keep a laugh in. Then took his hand away from her back. She was hella angry and Jinu doesn't want to fuck around with that energy radiating off of her right now...coming from past situations that he regrets. Jinu gives an awkward smile and picks up multiple boxes, she did so to. They could see that they would have to come back and forth multiple times for the rest of the boxes.
They were walking up the stairs, boxes in their hands. Clearly Jinu was going to barely manage doing this multiple times as he was already out of breath. Rumi just side eyed him like, don't you work out daily?
They make it to the door of her dorm and she sets the boxes down onto the floor to grab her key out and unlock it, she opens the door for Jinu to walk in. Once he was inside she picks the boxes back up and goes inside also, inside the dorm that sadly isn't a new one.
She could see that both Mira and Zoey were in their rooms, as it was very quiet and the lights were turned off when she walked in, but she did see light peeking out from the bottom of their doors, assuming that they're still awake or just scared to sleep in the dark.
She sets the boxes aside and so does Jinu, and he lets out an exaggerated exhale, stretching his back and arms. "Seriously?" She says, staring at him.
"What?" He asks, still stretching.
"Weak." She replies.
"I'm not."
"Coming from the guy who can't even handle a few boxes and stairs." Rumi says, teasingly.
Jinu just flipped her off, too tired to even defend himself. Rumi roll her eyes and heads back to the door, and Jinu follows.
-
"Thank you, Jinu." She says, patting his shoulder. "Ew, you're sweaty..." She says, retracting her hand.
Jinu's chest was going up and down from going back and forth multiple times how much things did she even pack dude. "Anything for bestie!" He gives a thumbs up, earning a giggle from Rumi.
"Great! Now get out." She orders, already dragging him out the door.
"By‒"
She shuts the door on his face, oops. She opens it back up a little. "Bye." She says then shuts it closed again not seeing the reaction from Jinu. She laughed to herself a little.
She had to keep going back and forth once again, dragging all her boxes into her room. When she was finally done, she looked all the boxes laid against the wall. I don't want to unpack all this shit... She thinks, her posture going slump at just the thought of her having to unpack all this by herself. She turned her phone on just to check the time and sees that it was already getting late now. She made an agreement with herself in her mind, that she's going to do all this unpacking stuff tomorrow, it was getting late anyway. But now she can shower now, with her own belongings. She did have to wear an outfit for 2 days straight and she does have to give Mira's pajamas back, she's going to do that and everything else tomorrow.
Her feet padded their way to her bathroom, her picked out clothes in her hands, as well as toothpaste, a toothbrush, a towel, shampoo and conditioner and some skincare.
Rumi was able to get all clean. Her hair dripping wet and she was now in her own pajamas, she folded and washed Mira's pajamas and laid it on her desk so she can give it back tomorrow. She approaches her bed, sighing, feeling relaxed. But not really at the same time, she really does have to share this dorm with them. Zoey and Mira. Maybe more emotions of tragedy and despair will hit her later on, right now, she was too tired to care.
Rumi stares up at the ceiling, squeezing her wet hair with the towel.
This was really going to have to be her new home.
With them.

Chapter Text
Rumi could feel herself starting to wake up slowly. She inhales stretching her arms a little, keeping her eyes shut, because she felt weird. She felt like something or someone was hovering over her. Something you feel when you're washing your face and imagine something scary in the middle of it. That's what it felt like, and now she was scared to open her eyes. Should she just...go back to sleep? But she has a lot of studying to do, so she shouldn't be scared. It's just her imagination playing around with her and decided to do it right when she wakes up. Yeah, just her imagination.
She slowly blinks her eyes open, the figure infront of her blurry, her brain wasn't fully registering it until she finally opens her eyes and immediately jolts up, bumping her forehead, hard, against Mira's.
Mira was fucking staring at her. In her sleep.
She instantly fell back onto her bed with a quiet thud from her back hitting the mattress, holding her forehead with both of her hands. It felt like her whole brain violently vibrated inside her head painfully. Mira sprung back due to the impact, quickly bringing her hands up to also hold her forehead, rubbing it as she hisses lowly at the pain.
"Ow..." Mira mumbles under her breath.
Then, Rumi realized. Mira was in her room. That was the thing she felt hovering over her. She quickly sat up at the realization that Mira was literally in her room staring at her. Her eyes grew big as she watched the pink haired girl infront of her rub her head in pain. Rumi also still had a hand on her forehead, her own pain still lingering aswell.
She finally spoke once she accepts the fact that it's not some crazy nightmare. "What the actual fuck are you doing in here Mira?" Rumi asks in utter shock, is her imagination still playing with her?
With one final hiss of pain from Mira, she answers back. "I was making sure you showered!"
"So you just stare at me menacingly while I'm sleeping!?" She yells at her, eyebrows furrowed in anger as she drops her hand that was on her forehead beside her onto the mattress.
"I wasn't staring!" Mira yells back. "Damn you have a hard ass head..." She says, quieter.
"Yes the hell you were? Gosh, I know I'm hot but you don't have to be a creep about it." She mutters, taking her eyes off of Mira.
Mira just stared at her, expression disgusted. "You've got to be kidding me." Tone also just as disgusted as her face, but also in disbelief that Rumi would even say that, seriously? She didn't know whether to laugh or cry and run away from Rumi.
"You know it." Rumi smirks in confidence, but in a joking way.
Mira blinked at her, then clears her throat. "Lower that ego of yours." Mira turns her head slightly so she can side eye Rumi trying to make her disgust clear.
Rumi shrugs, but then it really struck her that Mira literally came in her room, while she was asleep and decided to stare at her like some creepy weirdo. "Wait you're actually like... fucking insane!!" She suddenly yells at Mira, jaw dropped. She said it like she was stating a fact.
Mira flinched at the sudden yell. "What?‒"
"You just came in my room without even knocking again and then proceeded to stare at me in my sleep!" Rumi yells, practically screaming at this point.
"I was making sure you weren't trying to stink up the dorm again!" Mira tries to defend herself, but if she were Rumi, she knows her reaction would be way worse than Rumi's.
"Lame ass excuse." Rumi's eyebrows furrowed, head tilted slightly to the side, glaring at Mira who stood there.
Mira huffs in annoyance, then walks her way to the door not wanting to deal with this any longer even though she walked in first and stared at Rumi.
Rumi watched her for a second. "Wait."
"Not again..." Mira complains, turning to face Rumi.
Rumi rolls her eyes slightly. "Can you make ramen again?" Rumi asks, clasping her hands together, begging.
"That was a one time thing." Mira says, and as she is about to turn around again‒
"Pleasee!" Rumi pleads in her high pitched voice.
"You're embarrassing yourself." Mira says, unfazed.
Rumi pouts.
Mira side eyes her.
A beat passed.
Then Rumi groans. "Please just one more time!" Rumi says, frustrated, ditching her high pitched begging voice.
"I'm not your slave, bitch." Mira says, then walks out with a middle finger over her shoulder, closing the door.
Rumi blinked, watching her until she finally disappeared. "Asshole!" She yelled out, loud. To make sure Mira hears it loud and clear through the walls.
She grumbles and mocks Mira under her breath as she sits at the corner of her bed.
She scans her room until her eyes meet the boxes that she still has to unpack. Now she just remembered that she has to unpack. She huffs, too much damn work. She was honestly too tired, even though she just woke up, to do any of that even though she agreed that she would do it today, maybe she'll just start off with hanging up her clothes, then everything else as time passes by. New agreement.
She stands up and walks her way to the box that's labeled 'clothes' to pick herself an outfit for the day, her basic clothes, sometimes it honestly looks like she's wearing the same thing everyday just different colors.
She opens the box and picks out a black hoodie aswell as a pair of normal jeans.
-
She put on her clothes for the day and braided her hair. She got ready for the day and looked better than she did last morning...wearing Mira's wrinkly pajamas, yeah, never again.
She walked out her bathroom and was instantly hit with the scent of food in the air. She walked forward until the kitchen was fully visible to her and sees Mira cooking again, and it seemed like she was already done too as she was pouring food in...three bowls?
She approached, confused. "Thought you weren't gonna make any?" Rumi says, settling onto the counter, Mira's back facing her. She places her phone face down on the counter as she awaits for Mira to reply.
"Shut up." Mira mutters, then turns around, approaching her with a bowl and setting it infront of her.
Rumi arches an eyebrow, a smirk threatening to form at her lips. "You've been unusually nice lately." Rumi says, picking up her chopstick, mixing her ramen.
Mira being nice was super odd, and she doesn't really like it because it's weird and unusual but it's, interesting. Seeing Mira so calm and content is a new sighting for Rumi, maybe she doesn't hate it that much and she can probably get used to it if Mira stays this way.
Mira looks at her, pausing for a moment before also setting Zoey's bowl on her side of the counter. "We're roommates... and I feel slightly bad, but don't get used to it." Mira says, warning her at the end that she's not going to remain like this.
She had Rumi there on the first half, Mira suddenly becoming nice, pfft. Yeah, funny joke. "Yeah, I will make sure that I don't." Rumi grins.
Mira rolls her eyes, then looks at Zoey's empty seat. "I should wake up Zoey." Mira says, already about to turn around and walk to Zoey's room.
"Absolutely not." Rumi stops her.
"Why not?" Mira looks at her, eyebrow arched.
"Look, I hate you both, but you're somehow, bearable. More than her..." Rumi says, furrowing her eyebrows at the last part.
Mira stares, then turns around and goes to her room anyway.
Rumi blinked, wow. "Jerk." She mutters, watching how Mira disappeared behind a wall, heading to Zoey's room.
After a little bit she heard Zoey scream, RAMEN? In her room, but muffled behind the walls.
Rumi sighs. This home of her sucks already, surrounded by grown ass women who act like children. She really can't be talking though, she also does stupid pranks on them often.
She could hear Zoey's footsteps approaching the kitchen and Rumi already felt her annoyance and anger building in her chest before she even saw her. Gosh, she was going to stab this goddamn chopstick into one of her eyes‒ Oh! Rumi realized what she just imagined for a second. Can't have the intrusive thoughts winning.
She laughs quietly under her breath at the thought.
"What are you planning?" Zoey asks, about to take a bite of her ramen until she heard Rumi laugh out of nowhere. Rumi didn't even realize that Zoey was seated already and so was Mira who was focusing on her ramen.
Rumi whipped her head in Zoey's direction, startled by the sudden question that disrupted her thoughts. "What?"
"You laughed over there like some crazy psycho..." Zoey says, finally taking her bite, slurping the noodles.
Rumi blinked. "Um...no?" She turned her head back to her ramen.
"Don't gaslight me." Zoey says, slightly muffled by the food in her mouth.
"I'm not!"
"I heard you literally laugh too, don't lie." Mira chimes in, still focused on her ramen.
Rumi's eyes dart to the both of them and she just groans. "I did not."
Zoey slurps her noodles and gives a quiet mhm in response that Rumi decides to ignore.
Did she really laugh out loud..?
-
They had all finally finished their ramen and are placing them into the sink.
"Not it." Rumi says, placing a finger over her nose. No warning, no question asked because she knows both of them know what she means.
Zoey quickly looked up at her, jaw slightly open, but in utter shock. She then peeks over Rumi's shoulder to see that Mira didn't place a finger over her nose and took it as a chance. "Not it!" Zoey says, placing a finger over her nose, with a confident smile that she's not going to wash the dishes.
Mira looked at her. "I'm not doing it." She says.
Zoey blinked. "But you didn't do it yet."
"I cooked, dumbass." Mira says, rolling her eyes at how dumb Zoey is.
"But‒ No fair!" Zoey whines.
"I washed them, yesterday." Rumi says. "You won't die."
"Yes I will! They're contaminated for goodness sake!" Zoey points at them aggressively. She was acting like a child complaining about not wanting to do chores, which was quite literally equivalent to what she was doing right now.
Rumi glanced at Mira, and quickly looked away. Zoey was staring at them, anger and disgust clear on her face, a finger still pointing at the utensils she so badly does not want to touch.
Silence.
Then they both turn around and start walking away without a word.
Zoey blinked at them. "Fuck you guys!" She yells and heard their doors close in response.
She huffs in frustration and puts her attention on the dishes.
-
She stared at the dishes for a good 10 minutes like they would pounce on her face and suffocate her to death, before actually deciding to wash them.
The extreme disgust Zoey felt while washing them was exactly what Rumi felt yesterday.
-
Mira was in her room, just sitting on her bed, legs up and hugging them, while she stares at nothing but at a white popcorn wall infront of her, thinking. About Rumi. She had never seen Rumi with her hair down, ever. It was a new thing for her also, to see Rumi so calm, relaxed, asleep and not angry like she is all the time around her and Zoey. Her even and soft breathing, her face, her long lashes and hair.
Mira has to admit, or she can't help but admit, that she was beautiful. Mira has always thought she was attractive, yes. But she remained to always hate her. But her features really popped out when she was asleep, it was alluring. She maybe got too distracted that she ended up staring at Rumi for too long until she finally woke up and got herself caught.
She really was in her room to make sure she showered though, not to stare. She didn't even realize it until she got caught.
Then Mira realizes what the heck she's thinking about and flushes red, and rubs both hands on her face like she would grab the thoughts out. Rumi's her enemy. That's her enemy. Keep it that way. It's always been like that since high school, so why the sudden change of heart?
Mira groans lowly and drops her head onto the space between her knees as the thoughts spiral. What the hell?
She's going to have to stop this.
-
Rumi was sitting at her desk, tapping her pencil, while she looked down at her notes, thinking. She was trying to study but her mind kept wandering off to somewhere else.
She drops her head to the crook of her arm, sighing with frustration.
She felt weird. About Mira. Why was she just staring at her while she was sleeping, and so close? Was she trying to smell her or what to make sure she truly showered? Mira's been acting really weird, being unusually nice. But Zoey, she seems the same.
Rumi turns her head slightly and reaches for her phone. She taps her phone on and opens Jinu's chat.
Rumi: Hey loser🤗
Jinu: HEYYY 😛
Rumi: Are you free?
Jinu: Always am. Need something?
Rumi: I need help studying🥹
Jinu: Alright, meet at the library?
Rumi: Sure.
She sits there for a moment before getting up and pushing her chair in. She puts her phone in her pocket and begins to approach the door.
She opens it and peeks around to see if anyone is outside of their room.
"Got plans?" A voice suddenly came, starling Rumi she almost closed the door on her face.
Zoey did a silent pfft when she saw how Rumi jumped.
Rumi turned her head to her, fear clear on her face, then her expression switched to annoyance. "You scared me."
Zoey grins, proudly. "Yeah, I saw."
Rumi clicks the door closed behind her, glancing down to the light that peeks out at the bottom of Mira's door. Then looks back to Zoey. "Shut up."
Zoey laughs a little.
Rumi sees her laptop and notices that she had left it on the couch. The couch that Zoey is currently sitting in. She needs that laptop to study.
Rumi silently exhales. Hopefully Zoey will let her pass.
Rumi slowly approaches. It made her look suspicious as she made herself look like she was going to steal something from Zoey, or attack her.
Zoey was now infront of her, her attention fixtated on her phone. She looked down, she needed to pass by but her legs were extended out to rest on the table in front.
"Move." Rumi orders, glaring at Zoey.
Zoey stays still, but glanced up at her for a second, but then moved her attention back to her phone.
Rumi's eyebrow furrowed. Did Zoey just ignore her?
Then suddenly, "You can't just go around?" Zoey asks, still not looking at her.
"It's easier this way." Rumi answers, her tone becoming more annoyed after each word she spoke.
Rumi then tries to pass, by lifting her leg up to the other side, but then Zoey tripped her. Rumi reacted quickly and grabbed onto the couch, but she still fell onto her knees.
The living room quickly filled with Zoey's laughter.
Rumi felt her anger growing, slowly turning her head to the girl who was laughing.
Rumi lifted herself a little bit and jumped on her.
Zoey fell back. "What the–" Zoey grunts at the sudden impact, and flickered her eyes open to see Rumi on top of her.
Zoey stared at her, in shock but then fought back, trying to kick her off, making them both fight each other on the couch, their yells, and screams, filling up the entire dorm.
"You're so fucking funny!" Rumi yells at her, trying to hold her down.
"I know I am!" Zoey tries to kick her off.
Mira's door suddenly swings open, but none of them react this time, they're both too focused on trying to fight each other.
"What the hell is all this noise!?" Mira yells, eyes wandering around the dorm until her eyes met them on the couch.
Rumi and Zoey reacted to the sudden yell that wasn't theirs and Rumi looked up, to see Mira standing there, eyes wide in shock.
Zoey tried to look at Mira, but she was still being held down by Rumi, she had a firm grip on Rumi's wrist that was pressing down on her shoulder by so she could hold her down.
"Holy shit..." Mira said, blinking at the both of them to make sure they're really in that position.
"Don't." Rumi says, she already knew what she had in mind.
"You guys really can't fuck any where but in your rooms?" Mira says what Rumi didn't want her to say anyway. Mira was still absolutely stunned by the sight.
Rumi instantly groaned, she knew it was coming. She got up in a seating position, completely disregarding the fact that Zoey is still below her.
"Seriously it's not like that!" Rumi says.
Mira's eyes darted back and forth. "Then what the hell am I looking at right now?" She asks.
Rumi looked down, then she saw Zoey who was still below her, she turned red instantly and quickly climbed off.
Zoey sat up once she was fully off of her, cheeks also red and her head turned to Mira.
"She tripped me..." Rumi says it like she was a child who had been caught doing something bad.
"She just started tackling me." Zoey says, fixing her hair because it was messed up by whatever her and Rumi were doing just a moment ago before Mira suddenly yelled.
Mira fixed her expression back to normal, but still suspicious. "Uh huh." She says.
Rumi turned her head quickly. "It's true!"
"You guys have been on a fucking streak." Mira says, like it was a normal thing. Then turns around and goes back into her room, shutting the door.
Rumi and Zoey just watched her, silence filling the living room.
Then suddenly Rumi smacks Zoey's arm.
"Hey!" Zoey quickly darted her head to her, caressing her arm even though it wasn't a hard hit.
Rumi squinted her eyes at her. "This is your fault." Rumi says.
"Not! You literally just started attacking me!" Zoey says to defend herself.
"Because you tripped me!" Rumi's tone becomes louder.
"Well you didn't have to be dramatic about it!" Zoey yells back.
"You assholes better stop yelling!" Mira yells, loud. It was muffled but it was loud enough for them to hear it clearly.
Rumi and Zoey stare at each other for a moment before Rumi reaches for her laptop.
Zoey watches her in silence.
Rumi gets up, and gives Zoey one final glare before walking away.
Zoey blinked, then looked down. What the hell?
"Took you long enough." Jinu says, propped on one elbow on the table.
He was waiting for quite some time.
Rumi was able to make it to the library so she could study with him. There was usually no body inside unless there was big tests coming up, then it would be packed.
"Sorry." Rumi huffs, clearly mad about something as she sat herself down besides Jinu.
Jinu lifts his head a little bit, staring at Rumi. "What happened?" He asks.
Rumi exhales and shakes her head gently. "Nothing."
Jinu arched an eyebrow. "Nothing my ass."
Rumi chuckles under her breath then turns her head to look at him. Jinu always knew when something was wrong, even if it was just a small thing.
"Got accused again." She answers.
Jinu blinked at her in confusion. "Accused?"
"Of fucking my enemy!" She finally says. "My enemy thinks I fuck my enemy."
"Which one?" He asks.
"Zoey!" She answers and groans right after, with both hands on her face like she would grab out the memory and toss it away.
Jinu tried to hold back a laugh. "Again?"
Rumi nods.
"Why?" He asks.
"She tripped me and I started attacking her. On top of her." Rumi mutters, muffled by the hands covering her face, the last part quieter but Jinu heard it.
He was stunned for a second. On top?
Jinu chokes on a laugh before he could stop it because he doesn't want himself to get killed by Rumi. "Smart move." He says, sneaking a grin because she can't see. "She was on top of you once and now it was your turn." He says, amused.
"Oh shut up!" Rumi drops her hands onto her lap making Jinu quickly drop his grin. His heart dropped but luckily she wasn't looking.
He clears his throat with a fist over his mouth. "Tragic."
Rumi side eyes him and shakes her head slightly putting her attention on her closed laptop. "Let's just study." She says, opening her laptop.
Jinu nods slowly, watching her. "No but seriously what's up with you and Zoey lately?"
Rumi blinked and arched an eyebrow. "This is normal." She says. "Besides the top thing or whatever..." She mumbles.
"Yeah, that's what I meant." He says.
"Man I don't know!" She groans. "It just somehow happens and Mira always walks in on it!" She says, typing aggressively on her laptop, back hunched.
Jinu watched her typing, and nods slowly.
"And one more thing!" Rumi says, remembering. She turns fully around to him like she was going to tell him something big.
Jinu looked up and met her gaze. "Hm?"
Rumi leans towards him. "Mira was watching me sleep." Rumi whispers.
Jinu choked on nothing. "Mira what now!?" He tries to keep quiet.
Rumi nods, then looks at the laptop. "It was super creepy." She says.
"Girl... She likes you." Jinu says with a little smile, saying it like Mira herself told him that.
"What!? Ew no. She was just doing it to make sure I showered...that's what she told me." Rumi says, digust audible at the start.
"You're so oblivious. That's clearly an excuse, a lame one at that." Jinu says. "It's about time you get a girlfriend anyway." He smiles at her.
Rumi glared at him. "Maybe yeah, but not with my enemy dumbass."
"You mean, enemies?" He says but before he could laugh–
Rumi quickly smacked his arm.
"Ow! That was hard!" He yells but in a whisper to not disturb people who are probably also inside the library.
Rumi side eyes him, eyebrows furrowed. "Then stop saying stupid shit like that."
Jinu grew a smile on his face and lifted his hands up in defeat. "Sure sure." He says.
"
Rumi rolls her eyes.
-
Rumi was now back inside her dorm, she studied with him for a few hours. She could really use a nap for just a little bit.
She headed towards her room, and opened the door until–
SPLASH.
A bucket fell to the floor, water spilling and spreading on the floor beneath her and her clothes dripping wet. She was in shock she didn't even react until like a minute later.
She slowly turned around, expecting Zoey and her stupid shitty pranks, but it was Mira. Mira who was silently laughing and loosing her shit on the floor.
Rumi's eye twitched. "Are you serious?" She says, arms slightly extended out so the water can't drip on her pants even though they're soaked also.
"Holy–" Mira's words were cut off by a laugh that forced to come out.
Rumi looked down to see the water still spreading around below her then kicked some in Mira's direction.
Mira yelped in response but the laughing continued. Her and Zoey have pranked her already and it's hasn't even been a week. Shitheads. She needs to get them back.
"I hate you." Rumi says tone firm and tired. She could react a lot worse but she just spent hours studying.
Rumi scanned Mira for a phone that she could be holding. She didn't see any. So she backed up, still watching how the girl on the floor looses her shit before shutting the door closed infront of her.
She sighs, eyes closed, trying to keep cool. It's just water.
She went to her 'clothes' labeled box and picked out pajamas. She wasn't going to go anywhere else anyway so it was fine.
-
Rumi showered, she even washed her hair again. You never know, maybe Mira didn't use tap water but a random lake infested with germs... Rumi was just being dramatic but she is paranoid about germs and getting sick.
Rumi walked out of her bathroom, a towel around her neck so her hair wouldn't get her hoodie all wet. She had her hair down so it could dry more quick rather than a towel.
Rumi saw Mira sitting down on the couch, reading a book that laid on her lap. She glared at her as she passed by, giving her a dirty look. "Stupid prank of yours."
Mira looked up at Rumi, lips parted like she was about to say something but then paused.
Rumi was waiting for a reply, so she was staring back. Mira always has something to say.
Silence.
Rumi arched a brow before awkwardly turning around to the kitchen. Okay...?
Mira blinked, not looking at Rumi and just looks back down to her lap, continuing to read her book.
Wow. Mira just ignored her.
Rumi opened the kitchen cabinet and grabbed some chips out. She opened the bag of chips, the sound of loud crinkling from the bag surrounding them for a moment.
She stared at Mira as she put the first chip into her mouth.
She slowly approaches the couch, gaze still on Mira.
She notices how Mira tensed a little bit as she approached closer to her, she couldn't see her face at all. Just her being focused on her book.
Rumi sat on the couch at a good distance. "Looks interesting." She says, getting herself comfortable.
Silence.
Rumi furrowed her eyebrows slightly as she slowly put another chip into her mouth.
Mira flipped a page of her book, that being the only noise that filled the silence for a moment.
...
What the hell is she being awkward for. Rumi tried again. "You look very... focused on that book." Rumi says, she doesn't know why she's even trying to talk to Mira.
Mira blinks up at her. "I am." She finally talks and quickly takes her eyes off of Rumi.
Rumi noticed. "Damn do I have something on my face or?" She asks.
Mira softly shook her head.
Rumi stared at her with a suspicious look. "Hm, I don't believe you." She says and took her phone out to open the camera so she can check for herself.
Rumi checks her face, turning it around in several different angles, seeing nothing at all.
"There's nothing..." She saying lowly, not annoyed but still searching around her face even though she found nothing.
"I told you." Mira says, attention still on her book.
Rumi sets her phone aside on the couch. "Well you looked at me weird, like I got shit on my face!" Rumi says a little whiny.
"You don't" Mira says.
"Then–"
A door suddenly clicks open and Rumi's head quickly turned to the noise, not finishing her sentence.
It was Zoey.
"And you say we fuck Mira." Zoey says, grinning like she was proud she finally got to say it back.
Rumi looked at Mira who was literally on the other side of the couch. "Seriously?" Rumi points at Mira, finger tracing the distance between them.
Zoey rolls her eyes and sits herself in the middle of them. "Got to get her back somehow." She says, both arms slung over at the back of the couch.
"Who invited you here?" Mira asks.
"Invite!? Are you guys friends now or what." Zoey asks, curious and confused, eyes darting to the both of them.
"Never. She also invited herself here." Mira says, making Rumi gasp in response.
"So you own this couch?" Rumi asks, obviously not in a serious way.
"Of course." Mira says proudly with a small grin, but it quickly falters.
Mira hasn't even looked at Rumi once, but to Zoey. Mira would normally be talking about something random that neither of them care about, or teasing them.
"Look." Rumi says, making Mira and Zoey look at her, she was showing nothing she just wanted to see if Mira would look, which she did.
"I see nothing but your ugly face." Zoey says, making herself laugh.
Rumi gave her a flat expression in response, unfazed by the insult. Then she notices how Mira quickly looked down expression unreadable. But she kinda looked like she was nervous.
The hell?
Normally Mira would have some shitty comeback to say, but nothing. Just silence. It was weird seeing Mira all tensed and nervous and not her weird teasing self with a stupid grin on her face.
She doesn't know why it was even bothering her.
Zoey on the other hand was... Normal. Bothering people like the usual. Maybe a little bit more calmer than normal but she can't be energetic all the time.
Maybe it's because they all live together now that she's starting to see some different things about them.
Right?

Chapter Text
Rumi was studying on the couch in the living room of their dorm. Laptop laid on her lap, legs stretched out to rest on the table in front of her as she types furiously, eyes focused intensely on the screen as the sound of keys being pressed down fills the entire living room.
She has been studying since she woke up, and that was 5 hours ago. She didn't realize how long it has been, and she hasn't been bothered once yet. Zoey and Mira have been in their rooms since she started studying, doors closed as faint light peek out from the bottom of their doors.
Or, well she just jinxed it because she hears Zoey twisting her doorknob and opening her door.
Rumi ignores the sound, hoping that Zoey doesn't decide to bother her so she can peacefully continue to study.
Zoey stands at the doorway of her room and stares at her for a long moment, hand still resting on the doorknob.
Rumi could feel her just staring. "Want a picture or what." Rumi says, eyes remaining focused on the laptop in front of her.
Zoey blinked like she had just waken her up. "Hell no." She says and turned around to walk into the kitchen.
Rumi remained focused on her studying, hoping that Zoey just wants a snack and will go back into her room.
She can hear Zoey shuffling around in the kitchen, assuming she's trying to find something to eat. Then, she hears Zoey walk out and approach her direction.
Great, she's decided to bother her.
"Whatcha doin'?" Zoey asks, leaning forward, hovering over her, to peek at what Rumi's doing.
Rumi brings an arm up to shove her away. "Something that's none of your business." Rumi answers her, not looking at her once but shoving her away still.
Zoey sits down beside her, and watches her screen as she types.
Rumi exhales sharply, trying to make it obvious that she doesn't want Zoey here and that she should leave her alone, at least she hopes Zoey gets that message.
"Okay, Ms. Grumpy." Zoey says teasingly, but still not leaving her alone.
"Let me study." Rumi says, typing and still not looking at her once.
"I am!" Zoey says. "I didn't even say anything, I'm just watching." Except she did say something. Obviously a lie.
"Your presence is a disturbance." Rumi says casually, getting a gasp in response from Zoey who sits beside her.
Rumi sucks her lips in, trying to suppress a laugh from the silence that filled the room after her offended gasp.
Zoey huffs and leans back onto the couch with a quiet thud, crossing her arms like she was a child who just got told 'no' to something she wants at a store.
"You're such a child." Rumi says as she still focuses on her studying.
"I'm a college student actually." Zoey rolls her eyes, then glares at Rumi.
"One that acts like a child." Rumi says it like she was stating a fact.
Zoey let's out a silent ugh, before leaning slightly upward and continuing to watch her study anyway. Then her eyes slowly slide up to her face, Rumi's face.
Rumi can feel it, her glare.
"Are you sure you don't want a picture?" Rumi asks, finally facing her now. "I can feel you staring. Are you trying to kill me or are you attracted to me?" Rumi grins as she said the last part.
Zoey blinks, her face contorting. "No. None actually, maybe the killing part but, I'm just looking at your hair." Zoey says, her eyes leaving Rumi's to scan around her hair. She was slightly lying about that since she was looking at her face for a moment.
"What? Does it look bad or?" Rumi asks, grabbing her braid from behind to check on it.
"Of course it does." Rumi's head instantly darts up, no longer focusing on her hair. "But, it's just so long." Zoey says curiously.
Rumi side eyes her, tossing her hair back behind her. "I don't know what to say to that..." She says, confused since she just insulted her, and if calling her hair 'long' is a compliment.
Zoey's eyes continue to trace her hair and it's length, Rumi watches, confused until she finally spoke. "Can I braid it?" Zoey asks.
"No, fuck you." Rumi quickly denies, then turns her head back to the laptop that remained on her lap.
"Pleaseee!" Zoey pleads, grabbing the back of Rumi's hoodie to shake her back and forth.
"I don't know where your hands been!" Rumi yells at her quietly, leaning forward trying to escape.
"They're clean." Zoey says. "Promise!"
"Don't know...You don't look like a person who washes their hands after taking a shit." Rumi chuckles.
Zoey let's out an offended gasp. "Who do you think I am!?"
"A weirdo." Rumi answers almost instantly.
Zoey blinks at her in disbelief even though comebacks like that from her is normal, Rumi could say or do way worse.
"I've said way worse dude." Rumi side eyes her, then switches her gaze back to the laptop.
"Please let me braid your hair." Zoey asks, clasping her hands together dramatically.
"No."
"Please."
"No."
"Pl–"
"No." She cuts her off.
"Oh my god, why not!?" Zoey whines in frustration, trying to make Rumi give up.
"Because I said so." Rumi answers.
Zoey once again, shakes her back and forth. She tries to ignore it and focus on her laptop, but the sight of the laptop was becoming a shaky blur and almost falling off her lap as Zoey kept shaking her aggressively.
"Oh my gosh, fine." Rumi finally gives in, and Zoey instantly cheers, putting her hands up with a big smile like she just achieved something big.
Rumi sighs and closes her laptop, putting it on the table as she puts her legs down and turns her head back to Zoey. "It better be good." She mutters.
Zoey sits on one of her legs and positions herself behind Rumi, and grabs the bottom of her braid, untying it and letting it loose. Zoey gasps, fascinated. "So soft!"
Rumi grins, turning her head a bit. "I know, I know" she says confidently.
Zoey just stares at her like, seriously? Then puts her focus back on her hair. She brushes Rumi's hair with her fingers, her hair easily combing down. Zoey makes 3 seperate strands of her hair and begins braiding.
Rumi felt herself relax as she stares down at the empty space of the couch in front of her.
Zoey was being unusually nice. She better not be secretly holding scissors and just cut her hair randomly, actually, she should ask that. "You don't got scissors on you, right?" Rumi asks.
Zoey snorts. "Gosh, I'm not that mean."
Rumi felt a smile tug at her lips of wanting to laugh at the stupid question she just asked, or of relief. "Just making sure."
Zoey hums as she braids her hair, her hair slipping through her fingers with ease. "How do you keep it so healthy?" Zoey asks, almost whispering.
"A lot of stressing out." Rumi chuckles and Zoey giggles in response.
"Yeah, I can see that." Zoey says, still focusing on braiding her hair. Rumi wanted to see how Zoey looked like right now, to see her expression.
Then suddenly, a door clicks open, Rumi tries to glance back in a way to not interrupt Zoey. Zoey turned her head back, pausing the braid for a moment.
It was Mira who walked out of her room, and stood there, staring at them. "Not fucking this time?" Mira giggles.
Rumi looked up at her, oh, she must be normal now. Then exhales sharply realizing what Mira just said. Since she can't do much because of her hair being braided, she makes her annoyance audible. "Let that go already." She says as she groans.
Mira approaches then as she chuckles faintly. "You got some really long hair Rumi." She says, standing in front of the both of them, watching.
Rumi nods. "Yeah."
"Have you ever thought about cutting it?" Mira asks, sitting down at the empty spot of the couch where Rumi had been staring earlier.
"Mmh..." She thinks. "No, not really." Rumi answers.
Mira nods softly. "Would you?" She asks.
Rumi shakes her head. "I wouldn't." She answers.
Mira nods her head like she knew Rumi would say no. "Yeah, thought so. I've never seen you cut your hair at all, or at least seen it a little shorter." Mira says.
"What you want me to?" Rumi arches a brow, looking at her.
Mira shrugs. "I don't care if you do or not." She says.
Rumi blinks at her, then looks back down.
Mira and Zoey were oddly peaceful. Normally, they would be saying something out of pocket then start a random fight and somehow get her included. But right now, they were chill, and Rumi for once actually enjoyed it.
She can hear Zoey behind her reach for a hairtie and ties her hair.
"All done!" Zoey says proudly.
Mira looks up to see it and snorts, quickly looking away with one hand hovering over her mouth.
Rumi looked up at her. "What?"
She can see Mira's shoulders shake, trying to suppress her laugh. Rumi then turns slowly to Zoey. "Does it look like shit?"
Zoey shakes her head. "What? No I think it looks awesome." She pouts as Mira laughs.
Mira's laugh gets louder.
Rumi grabs her phone and quickly opens her camera. Then she slowly turns to Zoey, who's sitting there, pouting.
"This is terrible." Rumi says, then looks back at her phone, looking at her braid in different angles in disbelief at how bad it is.
Mira looks up again, and gasps for air. Rumi turns to her and sees that her eyes are glossy from all the laughing.
"Seriously?" Rumi says. "It is not that funny."
Mira starts coughing a little bit, covering it with the crook of her arm. "It's so crooked and you have a bunch of hair sticking out!" Mira wheezes, pointing a finger at her hair.
Rumi glares at her. "I wasn't the one who braided it."
"It still looks so dumb!" Mira laughs, throwing her head back, holding her stomach.
Rumi sighs then sees Zoey still pouting like a child behind her.
She looks back at Mira who's still loosing her shit. "Then you braid it." She says it like it was a challenge.
Zoey immediately jolted up, looking between them. "Seriously!? My hard work!" She yells at them.
"If she's gonna laugh her ass off, she has to make a better braid." Rumi says and looks back to Mira who's laughing calmed down.
Zoey leans back down in defeat, groaning. "It wasn't that bad." She mumbles to herself.
Mira exhales slowly, trying to stop.
Rumi glares at her, before turning around so Mira can braid it.
"You didn't even ask me if I wanted to." Mira says, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand.
"Too bad." Rumi says. "Now braid it." She orders.
"Okay, okay." She exhales, finally cooling down.
Now Rumi has Zoey in front of her, arms still crossed and leaning back. Zoey looked up at her, their eyes meeting.
She feels Mira starting to braid her hair now, remaining still so she doesn't disrupt her.
Zoey stared at her for a good while, and Rumi was quick to break the eye contact, but Zoey didn't. "So like... you sure you don't want a picture? Or you got staring problems?"
Zoey blinked and cleared her throat finally looking away. "None of the above." She answers.
"Your hair is really nice Rumi." Mira says, in a tone that Rumi has never heard her in before. Soft, gentle, kind.
Rumi felt her chest flutter, but she was quick to brush it off. "Thanks."
Silence filled the room, and Rumi started fidgeting with her hands and the sleeves of her hoodie.
Zoey slowly looks back up to her, just staring at her again.
Rumi looked at her back, because she could feel her staring again, and before she could say anything–
"Shut up." Zoey says, looking away once again.
Rumi was left with her lips parted, and hemmed. "I wasn't going to say anything." She lies.
Zoey side eyes her suspiciously. "Sure buddy." She says, and looks away again.
Rumi chuckles.
"Done." Mira says, throwing Rumi's hair in front of her so she can see it.
Zoey looked then her jaw dropped. "Show off." She gives Mira a dirty look.
Rumi inspected it, holding it with her hands then grabbed her phone again to open her camera. She nods slowly in approval as she turns her head around, looking at the braid.
"It's better." She says.
Mira nods proudly, crossing her arms like she had just achieved the best thing ever. "I know." She smirks to Zoey over Rumi's shoulder.
Zoey swung back, both hands on her face as she groaned. "You're so annoying!" She says, muffled through her hands.
Mira laughs in response.
Rumi leans forward to pick her laptop back up and places it on her lap once again.
Mira's laugh calms down and watches Rumi. "Studying?" She asks.
"No shit." Rumi replies, opening her laptop.
"That's all you do." Mira says.
Zoey rubs her hands down her face, and finally goes back to sitting properly. "Yeah Rumi, that's all I've ever seen you do since high school." She agrees.
Rumi glances back and forth to the both of them. "You guys don't?" She asks.
Zoey and Mira shake there heads in sync.
"No I just wing it." Mira says. "Like the tests, quizzes and stuff."
Rumi's face contorted. "How the hell did you get into college?" Rumi asks, facing Mira but really asking the question to the both of them.
"Great question." Mira thinks, placing a finger on her chin, looking up at the roof.
Rumi blinks at her and turns her head to Zoey now. "And how did you even pass?"
"I'm not dumb."
"You are." Rumi says instantly.
Zoey's jaw dropped, and Mira snorted in the background.
"Wow." Zoey says in audible disbelief.
Rumi shrugs. "Sad truth."
Zoey smacks her arm, pretty hard, making Rumi swiftly bring a hand up to cup the area Zoey had hit, hunching her back.
"Oww–"
"That's what you get." Zoey grins, her hand still halfway in the air before taking it back.
"Don't 'fight' guys, I don't want to see you fucking again." Mira says casually.
Rumi instantly took her hand off her arm and smacked Mira the same way Zoey did to her, harder.
"OW- what the hell." Mira hisses.
"Stop saying shit like that!" Rumi yells at her, her eyebrows furrowed.
Mira rubbed her arm in pain, still hissing.
Rumi huffs, and leans her back onto the couch. "You guys are distracting me, I should be studying." She says and places her fingers over her keyboard.
Zoey ignores her complaint, and yells, "I'm bored."
"No one cares." Rumi said, typing now.
Zoey closed her laptop with a loud slam, Rumi's hands flew back at the sudden move. "Hey! That was hard you could break the screen!" Rumi yells at her.
"I said I'm bored." Zoey repeats, her hand still on her laptop since she shut it closed.
Rumi huffed, side eyeing her, clearly not giving a shit. "And? What do you want me to do about it." She asks.
"We should go somewhere." She says it like as if they were friends.
Mira in the background choked on nothing. "We?"
"Yes, we." Zoey confirms to Mira who was shocked at the sudden suggestion.
Rumi was also shocked, blinking at Zoey like: Who is this in front of me?
Zoey sits there, awaiting for an answer from either of them until she realizes their shock. "Guys come on!" She whines. "I'm bored and you guys are the only people here that I know." She says, glancing between both of them.
Rumi looked away, thinking.
Mira was instant. "No."
Zoey darted her head to her. "You suck." She says.
Rumi was still thinking, maybe it wouldn't be so bad to hang out? She should leave Jinu alone sometimes, and she doesn't know anyone else either so... "Let's go tomorrow." Rumi says.
Mira quickly looked at her like she had said something to personally offend her, and maybe it did.
Zoey raised her hands once again to cheer.
"Where though?" Rumi asks.
"I did not agree to this." Mira complains.
"That's too bad." Zoey gives Mira a sarcastic smile before answering Rumi. "Where to..." She thinks and grabs her phone out.
Rumi takes her laptop off of her lap and sets it aside again.
"Amusement park." She suggests. "It's only 15 minutes away."
"I don't do rides." Rumi says.
"You're fucking boring." Zoey's expression droops and looks to Mira a little more hopeful.
Mira sighs and nods her head slowly. "Whatever." She says.
Zoey did a silent hehe to Rumi, like she won a bet.
Rumi glared at her, and crossed her arms.
"When tomorrow?" Zoey asks the both of them, scrolling through images of the amusement park they plan to go to, or well herself did and forcefully invited them.
"In the morning maybe." Mira suggests.
"I'm not ruining my beauty sleep just to hang out with you guys." Rumi says.
Zoey let's out an offended gasp and places a hand over her chest with her mouth open.
Rumi looks at her. "You look dumb."
Zoey chuckles and drops her hand. "Let's go in the afternoon." She says. "Not too late or it will be crowded!"
Then her eyes go wide just for a second in realization. "We need to lay for tickets." She said and then scrolls to see the price. "It's $25"
"Just get it when we arrive there." Rumi says.
Zoey shakes her head and looks to Mira.
"Mira, so...you're a rich person." She says, already clasping her hands together.
"Oh god." Mira whispers, like she knows where this is going.
"Can you–"
"No." She instantly cuts her off, she knows what she was going to ask.
"You have a lot of money though Miraaa!!" Zoey whines.
"Doesn't mean I will pay for you." Mira says, her tone a little firm.
Zoey pouts and looks at Rumi. Rumi also already knew what was about to come. "No." She says.
Zoey flew her head back, hitting the couch in defeat. "Fine." She says, defeated.
Rumi laughs a little. She actually liked having them around for once, even though what she really should be doing right now is studying, but she was enjoying their company and they stupidness.
Maybe they wouldn't be so bad to hang out with.
A few hours passed by and Rumi had taken a shower, and it was now dark outside. She was in her room, sitting at the corner of her bed. She was wearing her pajamas, that she owns. A grey hoodie and some black pajama pants with bears scattered around them. She was also able to finish most of her studying, she could've done more but Zoey and Mira decided to bother her for a few hours until she could finally study in peace again, alone.
She heard her door suddenly swing open, hitting the wall beside it. She jumped at the sound and darted her head in the direction of the sudden noise.
It was Zoey, looking at her phone. Her face went back to normal as she sighed in relief that it wasn't some burglar trying to come and kill her.
"Knocking is a thing, you know?" She said, watching Zoey approach.
Zoey ignored her and sat herself next to her on the bed. Rumi arched a brow.
Zoey flipped her hand to show her phone to Rumi.
"This ride looks so cool." Zoey says in fascination, eyes sparkling.
"Is that all you came in here for?" Rumi says, disappointed, but she looks at what Zoey is showing her anyway.
"This is super important!" Zoey says and retracts her phone.
Rumi looks up at her and shakes her head with a grin. "Sure sure."
Zoey jumps up and down in excitement, shaking Rumi's bed, her eyes sparkling with a bright smile planted on her face. Rumi couldn't help but stare, she had never seen Zoey so happy about something. Well, maybe she has but she had never thought much of it because she was always too busy brushing her off, fighting or trying to pull some stupid prank on her, and Mira.
Rumi blinked and looked away trying to brush off whatever she was feeling, thinking. She didn't know what it was, but it didn't feel bad.
"This amusement park looks so cool! We're going to have so much fun!" Zoey says, her eyes still fixated to her phone, scrolling quickly.
Rumi nods softly. "Yeah, it better be worth it." Rumi says, a smile tugging at the corner of her lips.
"Trust me, it will." Zoey says confidently. "The reviews are good too! Food and rides! We're getting everything." Zoey says with excitement.
Rumi let her smile form. "Sounds good I guess."
Zoey suddenly gets up. "I'm going to bring Mira in here." She says.
"Huh!? We are not having a group meeting in my room!" Rumi protests.
"Too bad!" Zoey says, already rushing out of her room to Mira's.
Rumi drops her shoulders with a sigh. "Seriously?" She mutters to herself.
She hears Zoey's faint rambling, slowly becoming louder as she approaches her room. Zoey walks in, hand on Mira's wrist, guiding her. Mira looked like she didn't want to be there and was clearly forced, her posture droopy and her face tired.
Rumi chuckled. "She forced you in here didn't she?"
Mira sighs and nods. "Unfortunately."
Zoey sits back down beside Rumi, and Mira sits beside Zoey like she had been pushed down.
"See guys!? Cool right!" Zoey shows her phone to the both of them sitting next to her. Rumi looked more intrigued than Mira, Mira looked done with life.
"You seem way too excited about this Zoey." Mira says, propping an elbow onto her leg.
"You're such a party pooper..." Zoey gives Mira a side eye, then goes back to her bright excited self, her endless rambling taking up Rumi's entire room.
Rumi glanced to Mira, Mira was looking at Zoey. That same look she saw when Mira looked at her before, when she was acting weird yesterday. What is that look? Unusually gentle and soft, like she likes what she is looking at, like she's admiring it.
Rumi slightly shook her head, brushing off the thought and focused back on to the photos and videos Zoey was showing them.
It looked fun, a big amusement park with tons of rides, big and small. A variety of food places too. Yeah, they will definitely be there all day tomorrow.
She looks up for a second away from Zoey's phone and to the both of them sitting on her bed.
Maybe living with them won't be so bad after all.

Chapter Text
Rumi was snoring, out cold until‒
"WAKE UP!" Zoey screams, barging into her room without warning.
Rumi instantly jolted up, her eyes semi open, not wide even after being startled like that. Her hair was a mess, strands of hair sticking out all over her braids. She blinked, trying to open her eyes and saw the familiar girl in front of her, standing there with a bright smile planted on her face.
Rumi shut her eyes, being absolutely blinded by the bright light in her room. She let herself fall backwards, landing back onto her bed and closing her eyes to go back to sleep, ignoring how Zoey just entered her room and screamed at her to wake up.
Zoey's smile faltered slowly as she sees Rumi attempt to go back to sleep, her expression went flat and approached Rumi who laid on her bed. She placed her hands onto her shoulders and shook her up and down by the shoulders roughly.
"Wake up! Wake up!" Zoey repeats loudly, shaking her endlessly.
Rumi tries to weakly brush her off with a hand but is still being shaken up and down.
"Oh my god." Rumi mumbles in annoyance, still trying to fully wake up.
Zoey stops, her hands still on her shoulders, observing her face to check if she's going to go back to sleep again.
"I said I wasn't going to ruin my beauty sleep..." She mumbles, her lips barely moving, she was going to say for you guys, but was cut off by beginning dozing off about to fall asleep again.
Zoey noticed then, without hesitation, she forcefully started pulling her out of bed.
Rumi woke up from that, she was about to fall off her bed now. "Woah– HEY!" She yells, trying to kick herself back onto her bed because her arms were being pulled.
"You were going to go back to sleep twice, we have a special day to deal with!" Zoey yells at her, still pulling Rumi off her bed.
Rumi's blankets were slowly uncovering her as she falls, full force onto her back with a grunt that took all the air out of her lungs in response to the sudden pain.
"What the hell..." She murmured, placing her hands over her stomach like that's where she landed.
Zoey exhales like doing that was a lot of work and hovers over her.
"Dude... It's cold." Rumi says, rubbing her eyes.
"I do not give a shit. Now get up, if I don't see you fully awake in the next 15 minutes when I come back inside I'm beating your ass." She warns. "Okay?" Zoey gives her a sarcastic smile and makes her way out of her room.
Rumi's semi closed eyes follow her until she shuts the door, eyes hooded, still tired and wanting to go back to sleep.
She groans lowly, not wanting to get up at all but she really doesn't want Zoey to pull some shit on her early in the morning.
She slowly sits up, blinking around like she's trying to find out where she is.
She sees the light from the sun peeking through her curtains, she must have slept in without realizing it.
She then picks herself up to stand and makes her way to her closet to pick some clothes for the day.
"What would look good for an amusement park..." She asks herself in a low tone as she flips her clothes around as she looks for what to wear for the day.
She found, of course, a hoodie, a maroon one and a pair of black jeans to wear. She stares at them for a moment, imagining how it would look if she wore it and shrugged, it's not anything different to what she normally wears on a daily. "Whatever, it's good enough."
Then suddenly her door swung open making Rumi jump and dart her head to Zoey.
"It hasn't even been 15 minutes." Rumi yells at her, placing a hand over her chest in relief that it was just her.
Zoey squints at her and nods slowly. "Just making sure you're awake..." She says, as she walks backward, eyes not leaving Rumi's until she closes her door.
Rumi rolled her eyes and shook her head and looked back down to the clothes she's chosen.
She yawns, and starts feeling tired again, now she's rethinking why she even agreed to do this in the first place. Maybe because Zoey's annoying and will endlessly beg until she gets her way. Sounds about right.
Rumi picked her clothes up and made her way to the bathroom, slowly clicking the door closed behind her as she looked in the mirror, noticing how much of a mess she looks right now.
Damn, Mira was right that one day when she asked if someone attacked her in her sleep. It really does look like it. She's going to have to re-braid her hair, wash her face and some makeup to look more alive.
-
Rumi got ready and stared at herself in the mirror, tugging her sleeves down to make sure her hoodie is long enough, just to make sure an accident doesn't happen and she reveals them. She doesn't wear this hoodie often.
With one final touch to her look, she put some lipstick on with a final pop from her lips as she finished and twisted her lipstick closed.
Now, she made her way out the bathroom and sees Mira sitting on the couch with her phone. She seemed to have finished getting ready as she was wearing a pair of black leggings and a grey sweater.
Rumi stares at her for a long moment before saying something. "Hey idiot." Rumi greets her nicely.
"Good morning to you t–" Mira chokes on nothing right when she looks up at Rumi.
Rumi arched a brow, watching the girl on the couch clear her throat with a hand over her mouth.
"As I was saying..." Mira says, avoiding Rumi's gaze so she doesn't 'choke' again. "Good morning to you too." She says, looking down at her phone.
Rumi nods suspiciously. "Okay..?" She says then approaches Mira to sit next to her and leans a little to the side to peek at Mira's phone.
Mira side eyes her before returning to look at her phone, slightly turning it away.
Rumi looks at her and huffs, leaning back onto the couch.
"You act like Zoey." Mira says, returning her phone to fully face her again once Rumi looked away in disappointment.
Rumi gasps and before she could say anything to defend herself–
"Did someone call my name!?" Zoey yells out suddenly, running out of her room with a white crop top with a blue jacket on over it and a pair of normal jeans. She was also wearing a bucket hat.
"Here's the number one idiot." Mira smirks, crossing her arms.
Zoey rolls her eyes. "But seriously who called me!?" She asks once more.
"Nobody you schizo." Mira says it like she really didn't call her. Top tier acting skills right there.
Zoey looks at her, scanning her like she would read her mind. "Don't gaslight me." She says.
Rumi looked between them. "She–"
Before Rumi could say anything else, Mira shut her up by placing a hand over her mouth and gives Zoey a smile. "Nothing nothing, seriously!" She lies.
Rumi furrowed her eyebrows and licks Mira's hand making Mira ever so quickly take her hand back in pure disgust. "EW! What the hell!?" She says, wiping her hand on her side.
Rumi grins proudly, leaning back onto the couch.
Zoey watches them and shakes her head, thinking they're dumb. "Let just go already." Zoey says, already making her way to the door.
Rumi gives Mira a little giggle before making her way to the door also.
Mira grumbles, glaring at Rumi before getting up too.
-
They were now outside and were walking until someone came to the realization. "Who's driving?" Zoey asks, looking at them as she continues to walk.
"Me." Mira says almost instantly. "I don't trust any of you to drive." She adds.
Rumi would say no, but she barely knows how to drive herself, so she just nods.
Mira led them to her car.
"I call front seat!" Zoey yells out, already rushing to the car door.
Rumi gasps and chases after her.
Zoey wrapped her hand around the knob but before she could open it, Rumi pushed her off.
Mira glared at them, like they're complete children. "Dent my car in any way, I'll dent your fucking faces." Mira threatens, still glaring at them as she watches them fight for the front seat. "I don't want to sit with neither of you so, both of you in the back." She orders and enters her car.
Zoey and Rumi sigh in disappointment.
"This is your fault." Zoey mumbles, before entering the car lazily.
Rumi huffs before entering the car also.
-
They finally made their way to the amusement park and Zoey instantly ran out, jumping around and laughing in excitement.
There was a crowd of people, the sound of screams coming from the people on rides and a line for tickets to enter.
Rumi slid her way out of the car and shut the door, watching Zoey act childish, but she didn't mind this time.
Mira locked the car doors. "She's so embarrassing." She says beside Rumi, with a little chuckle.
Rumi's expression softens as she sees Zoey so excited. "Yeah." She agrees. "Lets start walking, she's already far ahead." She smiles and starts walking.
Mira nods and follows behind her.
They waited in line and paid for their tickets, and Zoey was already done with everything before them.
Rumi approached Zoey who was surprisingly waiting for them and didn't storm off to leave them and go on a ride by herself.
"Jeez, took you guys long enough." She says, annoyed.
"We don't want to run like you just to be here." Mira says, rolling her eyes at Zoey's complaint.
Zoey whines. "You know how many rides we could've gone on already!?" She yells, like a child.
Rumi glances around, embarrassed by her behavior. "Shut up Zoey!" She whispers.
"Like... one ride, or in line for a ride." Mira answers Zoey, her voice firm, also embarrassed by her.
Zoey huffs and quickly goes back to normal. "Lets go now guys!"
They walk around for awhile, looking around, trying to find a ride that catches their eye. And Zoey found one, but Rumi did not like it one bit.
"You see how many times that thing goes upside down!?" Rumi yells at her lowly, like she was scolding a child.
Zoey grabs her wrist and leads her into the line. "You will be fine!" She encourages Rumi. "I've been on rides like this countless times!" She says with a smile.
Rumi's face contorts, countless? Rumi sighs and looks to Mira. "And you?" She asks, slightly scared.
Mira shrugs. "I can handle it but its not my favorite." She answers.
They went in line, it was about a 30 minute wait. Zoey was being Zoey, sitting on the railing and kicking her legs. Mira was just waiting like a normal person, hands in pocket as she looked around, waiting for the line to move.
Meanwhile, when the line kept inching closer and closer to the ride, Rumi felt her heart beating and the need to throw up. Thank god she didn't eat breakfast. Her breathing then became uneven as she started fidgeting with her hands, looking down.
"Hey." A voice suddenly came, snapping her back into reality. "Don't tell me you're scared." Zoey teases her with a smile.
Rumi shakes her head, trying to even out her breathing, trying to remain calm and think that it's just a ride. A normal little, not little, but huge ride. Not a big deal.
It was a big deal.
Rumi couldn't walk, she currently had an arm wrapped around Mira's neck because she couldn't balance properly. Mira slowly and carefully placed Rumi onto a chair, and Rumi's head fell backward.
Zoey stared, a little shocked. "I didn't think it was that bad." Zoey says, looking at Rumi who looked done with life.
Rumi was dizzy. "What the fuck was that..." She mumbles, like she had just been hit in the head by something heavy.
Mira clicks her tongue, looking at Zoey as she shakes her head, teasing her about how it's her fault that Rumi's in this state right now.
Zoey rolls her eyes. "You have a weak stomach." She says.
Rumi brings up a hand to flip her off, she isn't lucid enough to form words, so she speaks with her hand.
Mira laughs a little as Zoey huffs in response. Rumi is already all beat up just from one ride.
"We should eat something now." Mira suggests.
Rumi instantly nods like the word eating snapped her back to normal.
"Fatass." Zoey says. She obviously ate breakfast unlike Rumi who was starting to feel like she was starving.
"I didn't eat breakfast!" Rumi yells at her, finally able to speak but her body still weak.
"Me neither." Mira says, looking at Zoey.
"Oh–"
"You're the fatass because you did." Rumi says, as she points a finger at her, laughing.
Zoey quickly grabs her finger and starts bending it. "I'm what?" Zoey threatens her.
Rumi yelps, grabbing onto Zoey's wrist, and fixes her pained expression before leaning in close to Zoey's face. "You heard me." She grins. "Fatass."
Mira blinks at the both of them before seperating them. "You guys are so embarrassing!" She scolds.
Zoey and Rumi cross their arms, and look away from each other like kindergartners who just got into an argument. Mira looks at them and sighs. "Let's just eat now. I'm seriously starving."
Rumi opens one eye to look at Mira and agrees. "Me too." She says, leaning back onto the chair like she had been pushed.
Mira nods and looks at Zoey.
Zoey opens her eyes and nods. "Fine." She says. "But that means extra rides."
"No." Rumi and Mira both say it at the same time making Zoey glare at the both of them and walk away, back hunched in disappointment.
Rumi chuckles and slowly picks herself up, checking if she can finally balance and walk on her own. "Alright let's go." She says to Mira.
Mira nods and walks with her.
Rumi smirks. "So kind of you to wait for me." She says. "Have a soft spot for me?"
Mira turned red and looked away, but Rumi kept that smirk on her face, leaning closer to Mira teasingly.
Mira softly pushes her away. "I don't, shut up." She answers, getting a giggle out of Rumi. Mira looks at her, her smile lighting something inside her chest, with that warm smile, not the pissed off one she always wears around them.
They followed Zoey, until they arrived somewhere which obviously caught her eye since she stopped walking. Zoey looked back to make sure they were following her and pointed up at the building. "This looks so good!" She says.
Mira looked up and looked back down with disappointment. "It's just pizza." Mira says it like she was expecting somewhere better to eat.
"Don't care, we're going in here now." She orders the both of them and walks inside the building, leaving them with no other choice but to follow.
They walk inside and see that there are quite a lot of people eating and sitting down inside. "I'll go find an empty booth." Rumi says, and Mira arches a brow at Rumi.
"You say it like I'm not coming with you." Mira says.
Rumi glanced back to Mira. "Go with Zoey. I don't want her messing up the order somehow." Rumi says, already starting to search now.
Even though Mira didn't want to, she agrees that Zoey would somehow fuck it up.
She turns around and scans the line of people, looking for Zoey, then she finally spotted her and cut the line. "Hey there." Mira says, standing next to her.
Zoey looked up at her. "Aren't you supposed to be waiting?" Zoey asks, looking around for Rumi.
"Rumi told me to go with you so you don't somehow mess up the order." She says, looking down at Zoey. "Which I agree." Mira mumbles, getting her arm smacked in response.
"I heard that, jerk!" Zoey pouts, her eyebrows furrowed.
Mira chuckles, staring at the girl pouting.
Rumi found a booth, enough for 3 people to sit at, so she sits there and waits for them. She pulls out her phone to scroll as she waits until a man comes up to her.
"Hello, you're very beautiful ma'am." The man says, a smile on his face as he complimented her.
Rumi darted her head up, taking her eyes off her phone as she heard the unfamiliar voice speaking to her. Rumi doesn't do well with strangers, so she felt herself getting nervous. "T-thank you." She says, with an awkward smile.
"May I get your number?" He asks, pulling out his phone like she was going to say yes.
Rumi's smile twitched, wanting to come down but it didn't. She wanted to say no, but a part of her felt bad if she did. "I– I um..." She hesitates, eyes goes down.
"Come on." The man starts pushing as he notices that she's possibly going to say no.
Mira looks around, trying to see where Rumi is. They were waiting for their pizza to be ready.
"Thank you." Says Zoey in the background, taking the box of pizza.
Mira was still searching, until she saw a familiar purple haired girl, and...an unfamiliar man talking to her? "Hey..." Mira says, turning to Zoey, but her eyes not leaving Rumi's direction.
Zoey walked beside her. "What?" She asks, holding the pizza box with both of her hands.
She points. "Who the hell?" Mira says, feeling rage starting to bubble inside her chest.
Zoey looked up, and stared, watching, her eyebrows furrowing. "What the fuck..." Zoey mutters.
Rumi shakes her head slowly, hesitantly, shutting her eyes like she might get hit.
The man furrowed his eyebrows, coming closer. "Co–"
"Buzz off asshole." A girl says. This time, the voice familiar to Rumi.
"And who the hell are you?" The man turns around to her, tone aggressive.
Rumi squinted her eyes open, like she was waiting for the hit to really come, but nothing came.
Mira and Zoey were standing there, their faces firm and annoyed. Zoey's eyebrows were slightly furrowed, anger clear on her face. "We're her... Friends." Zoey says, a little hesitant with the last part, and Mira nods beside her.
Rumi watches the scene happen in shock. They were...protecting her? Friends?
"Leave her alone asshole." Mira says, her tone firm and demanding.
"And if I don't?" The man smirks, like he was doing something good.
That seemed to make Mira snap, she grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, bringing him off his feet.
Even though Rumi had fought them many times, this is the angriest she's ever seen her, and Zoey.
People started staring and whispering in the background, making Rumi tense up even though she really wasn't part of the scene.
"Leave her alone or you won't like what comes next." Mira warns him, Zoey nodding beside her, and her fingers almost piercing through the pizza box she was holding.
Rumi's eyes widened, eyes darting to the 3 of them.
The man pushes her off and fixes and dusts off his shirt before walking away. "Crazy bastards!" He yells, eyes of people in the building remaining on them and him until he exited.
Mira did a silent tsk before sitting down next to Rumi, crossing her arms clearly pissed. And Zoey who also went to sit beside Rumi was also pissed.
Rumi blinked at them, but felt at ease. "Thank you..." She says.
She was still still shocked that they actually protected her like that, but she was grateful, no matter how unusual it was coming from them.
People were still staring at them, until they finally all looked away once the scene was over.
Mira nods, trying not to be soft. "Yeah, yeah." She says, grabbing the pizza box and placing it in the middle of the 3 of them.
Rumi smiles softly, she felt light, protected, safe. Around them. A feeling she never thought she would feel around Zoey and Mira.
Mira looks down at the pizza box. "Damn Zoey, you got claws or what?" Mira chuckles, seeing the dents on the pizza box where Zoey's fingers almost went through.
Zoey looked and laughed a little. "My bad, he was pissing me off so bad!" She whines.
Mira opens the pizza box and nods in agreement. "Me too."
-
They finished their pizza and Zoey was already ready to ride more rides, even after they just ate.
"Let my stomach resttt!" Rumi whines, holding her stomach, she was really full even though Zoey ate most of the pizza.
"Yeah, Zoey!" Mira agrees beside her.
Zoey turns around with a pout. "You guys suck." She says.
"Just give it 10 minutes, Zoey." Rumi says.
Zoey sighs. "Then in the meantime let's go searching!" She says, already walking away.
Mira shakes her head with a laugh. "What are we going to do with her..." She says, with a smile.
Rumi chuckles beside her, and they both start following her.
It took about 15 minutes to actually find a ride again, enough time for their stomachs to rest and get on a ride without possibly throwing up.
Rumi felt herself relax to see that it wasn't a big ride, just a normal roller coaster with no loops.
Zoey turned to her as they entered the line. "Don't want you throwing up." She says, leaning against the railing.
Rumi smirks. "Got a soft spot for me too?" She teases.
"What does that have to do with me not wanting you to throw up?" She asks in disgust. "And too?" She also asks.
Rumi glanced to Mira. "She has a soft spot for me." She whispers and Zoey gasped.
"I heard that!" Mira yells, turning to them.
Rumi forms a sly grin "Noo?"
Mira exhales sharply, and turns away again.
"You didn't deny it!" Rumi teases, nudging her shoulder.
"Shut up." Mira mumbles.
-
Rumi actually had a lot of fun with them, they went on a lot more rides after that and she really would've never thought that she would be feeling this way around them, not ever.
After the incident that happened in the pizza place, she felt safe with them and at ease, even though it was odd, coming from them, she was grateful that they would really do something like that for her, in front of people.
Maybe they really aren't so bad, maybe she can actually handle being their friends and not fighting all the time. That doesn't sound so bad. For Rumi, in this moment, it actually feels right, it feels like something she wants, truly.
-
A few hours pass and it was already getting dark.
"Oh my god, I'm tireddd!" Zoey says, sitting on a nearby chair, tiredly leaning back like she was going to sleep there for the night.
"Me too." Rumi and Mira both agree.
Zoey takes out her phone, propping an elbow onto the table beside her and searches what else is at this amusement park.
"We should go to one more place before heading home." She suggests.
Rumi nods in agreement. "Yeah maybe, it's getting dark now." She says, she was right about them going to spend the entire day here.
"Like where?" Mira asks, both hands in her pockets.
Zoey thinks, scrolling through her phone. "Let's get ice cream!" She says, stretching her arm up to show the both of them.
Rumi and Mira look. "Ice cream, seriously?" Mira says, unamused.
"I swear... what do you even like?" Zoey arches an brow.
"I like–"
"Shut up." Zoey cuts her off, looking back down to her phone before putting it away.
"You asked!" Mira yells, she was really going to answer that question.
Zoey rolls her eyes and stands up. "Okay we're going." She says.
Mira huffs and Rumi nods beside her with a low chuckle.
This time, Zoey didn't storm off without them, but walked beside them, matching their pace. "Someone's that tired." Mira teases.
Zoey exhales. "If I wasn't, I would run away right now just because you said that." She says.
Mira smirks. "I know."
-
They soon arrived at the ice cream place Zoey suggested and waited in line. "What do you guys want?" Mira asks, pointing at the menu.
Rumi arched a brow. "You're asking like you're gonna pay." She says but then to her surprise–
"I am."
Rumi went still, eyes widening. "Come again?" Rumi asks, looking to Zoey who had the same expression as her. Shocked.
"I am..." She says, a little awkward now. "Or do you not want me to?" She asks, obviously willing not to pay, but was just being nice.
Rumi shook her head, blinking. "No..." She says. "Just... You... Being nice..?" She says, pausing in between words like it was the most shocking thing ever.
Mira looks at the both of them. "You guys really allergic to kindness." She says.
Zoey shakes her head. "No!" She says, but she agrees with Rumi.
Mira wanting to pay for them? No... She's definitely been possessed.
Mira keeps looking at them like she knows what they're thinking about and sighs. "Just tell me what you guys want." She asks, the line moving.
-
They were in Mira's car now, devouring their ice cream.
Rumi got cookies and cream, Zoey got cookie dough with some cookie bits, and Mira got strawberry.
"Imagine not having cookies in your ice cream." Zoey laughs as she scoops up some of her ice cream, about to take the bite-
Mira turned back and snatched her spoon right off her hands.
"Hey!" Zoey yells at her. "I was going to eat that!?"
But then, the next moment, Zoey and Rumi are both baffled by Mira's next move. She glides the spoon over into her mouth, taking the bite that Zoey was going to take. Both Zoey and Rumi look at her, stunned. Then, Mira sticks the spoon back into the cup of her ice cream.
"I-" Zoey stutters, not knowing what to say about that at all, she put her mouth on that spoon and Mira proceeded to put her mouth on it too.
Mira looked hella smug about it. "That was my last cookie bit dumbass." Zoey says.
Mira snorts, and Rumi starts laughing in the background.
"You owe me another one!" Zoey orders, picking up the spoon, taking another bite of her ice cream despite the fact Mira put her mouth on it just a moment ago.
"Okay, Okay, I didn't know." Mira says, chuckling a little bit. "Here, I feel bad, take a bite of mine." Mira extends her arm out with the spoon.
"No, your mouth was all over that." Zoey denies.
"We just shared a spoon, come on." Mira says, holding out the spoon, gesturing her to take the bite.
Zoey sighs in defeat. She was right, they really did.
She leaned forward and took the bite and her face lit up. "It's good...I guess." She says.
Then Mira's eyes switch to Rumi, and she instantly stopped watching them pretending she wasn't looking. "You too." Mira takes her hand back to scoop more ice cream for Rumi and holds her arm out again.
"Ew." She says, facing away from the spoon. Even though her ice cream looked delicious, Zoey and Mira literally just shared that spoon, and she wants her to put her mouth on that?
"Come on Rumi! It's actually good." Zoey says, scooping up the last bits of ice cream left in her cup.
Rumi blinks, giving in and takes the bite, then nods in agreement. "It is..." She says, licking her lips, savoring the flavor that lingered in her mouth.
Mira nods with a smirk, and leans back onto her seat. "I know, I got good taste." She says proudly.
Rumi rolls her eyes in response, a smile threatening to come up.
"Alright, let's go home." Mira says, putting her cup on the cup holder beside her and starts the car.
Rumi nods slowly, her chest feeling light. She hadn't had this much fun in awhile, and she actually enjoyed spending time with them.
She smiles to herself. "Hey guys." Rumi says, softly.
Zoey glanced over and Mira gives a "Hm?" to answer her as she focuses on the road.
"Thank you." She says.
Zoey blinked at her, confused. "For?" She asks.
Rumi looked down as her smile remained on her face. "I had fun today...so thanks." She says, shyly.
Zoey looks at her and then gives her a smile, a soft smile, that made something in Rumi's chest flutter. "You're welcome loser." She smirks.
"Yeah...glad you did." Mira also answers her.
Rumi nods slowly. She felt grateful to share this day with them.
She would want to keep hanging out like this.
