Chapter Text

You lived with the Avengers for a few years now. They took you in as you didn´t have anyone left in your life to care for you. At 10 years old your parents died in a car crash and since Pepper was friends with them she couldn´t not do anything. You are now 15 years old and have been living in the Avengers tower for the last 5 years.
~
The day started slowly, you woke up at 9.36 am. You weren’t a morning person because your body always seemed to need a few more hours, than the others. At first the team would drag you out of bed but over the years they got used to it and let you sleep in.

You walked out of your room after getting ready and took the elevator down to the common floor to eat a little bit before Wanda cooked lunch. Natasha sat in the kitchen and smiled at you the moment she saw you. You have always been closest with her. You guys just bonded immediately. Maybe because she saw a little bit of Yelena in you. “Hey sleepyhead, how did you sleep?” “Yeah, great” She didn´t really believe you but she just pushed it aside. She was right, you didn´t sleep well. At first you couldn´t fall asleep, because your pain hit a new high and then you kept waking up due to the pain, but by now you were mostly used to it - to the not knowing why you were in so much pain though you could never get used to the pain. It seemed like every time it would just get worse.

You grabbed a yoghurt out of the fridge, those already portioned ones and some crackers. You sat down next to Natasha and started eating, very slowly because you were already dreading the nausea that you got every time after eating. “Kid, you want to train with me today?” You loved training with Natasha so you said yes and met her in the training room an hour later after changing into different clothes.

You wore an oversized t-shirt and just basic long work out pants. You guys started warming up and stretching, which was very important to Natasha. After a little while you started sparring. “Y/n is that all you have?” She asked jokingly and you hit harder even though it was against your body’s limits but you couldn’t let her see that broken side of you. You knew her and the other Avengers cared for you but you were scared. What would they do or say when they see how broken you actually are. Would they be the same as your family? So you never told them about your chronic pain and somehow in the last 5 years nobody noticed because you got pretty good at masking it.
“Do you smell that?” You asked Natasha trying to distract her from sparring because you could barely stand anymore. “I think Wanda started cooking. It smells like lasagna” she responded. “Nice, I love her lasagna” You took a deep breath in and exhaled. “Want to stop training and go shower?” Natasha was a bit confused that you already wanted to stop, since it would take another hour till Wanda was finished with cooking. “Yeah I mean we barely started but I´ll cut you some slack considering we haven´t trained in a while”

When you arrived in your room, you directly jumped in the shower to wash the sweat of your body and hoping the warm water will relax your muscle. You sat down in shower because you got really fatigued all of a sudden.

After the shower you did not feel better at all so you just laid down until FRIDAY notified you that lunch was ready. You put on your favorite t-shirt and comfortable pants, it was too hot for long pants but you couldn´t bring yourself to wear different ones.

You walked into the elevator and FRIDAY took you to the common room. On the ride down you took a few deep breaths preparing for what’s about to come – having to pretend to be fine, great even and not like you could lay on the floor for eternity because you are so exhausted.

As you walked in the room you already had a smile on your face, it even reached your eyes because over the years you got that good at pretending. The group of people was almost finished with setting the table, so you just sat down at your seat. They weren´t really assigned but it was like an unspoken rule. You sat between Kate and Yelena. Across from you sat Clint, Natasha and Wanda and around them sat a bunch of other people but they were just too far away for you to talk to them.

The lunch went by fast, it was all kind of a blur. You didn´t join in on the conversations – partly because you couldn´t concentrate on anything but you were also not that type of person who would speak much in a big group of people. If you were alone with a person you could trust you were the complete opposite.

After everyone was finished with eating you helped clean up and then went to your room.

The rest of the day you didn´t do much, you binged New Girl and read a few pages but then your pain started again and it hit you like a bullet to the head. You started breathing faster trying to breath away the pain but it didn´t work – it never worked. Your leg felt like it was about to explode, it was such dull pain and pressure from inside but you learned a long time ago that the only thing you can do is sit with it because painkillers don´t work.

As the pain got worse, you started crying. For short amount of time that was all it was but then it turned into full on sobbing because you just couldn´t hold it anymore. You were starting to struggle breathing. “Y/n are you okay, do you want me notify someone?” FRIDAY asked. “No I´m fine and I don´t want them to know.” You put on New Girl again trying to distract you and help you fall asleep. Since you were so fatigued you didn´t bother brushing your teeth or eat dinner, you also didn´t want to deal with the nausea. It was still pretty early and the team never ate dinner together so they didn´t notice that you never left your room again after lunch. 3 episodes later you finally fell asleep.
