Chapter Text
Melissa wouldn’t be able to pinpoint the exact moment she had fallen in love with Shauna. Maybe it was when she first laid eyes on her during the pep rally. Admittedly, this was what convinced Melissa to join the soccer team, to see how many hot girls there were on the team, so many girls who were exactly her type- Shauna included.
Or perhaps she started developing a crush once she made it into JV. Shauna might have been on Varsity, they still shared a locker room. And Melissa would be lying if she said she didn’t take advantage of this to take a peek from time to time. But that wasn't specific to Shauna.
Her infatuation with Shauna might have started that day she was asked to substitute for one of the Varsity girls (was it Mari? Something about a dentist appointment for a broken tooth). Things didn’t go well for Mel, and she ended up with a bloody nose after someone (fucking Rachel) kicked the ball right in her face. Shauna was the one who brought her to the infirmary. Sure, Coach Martinez asked her to, but she still did it without complaining. She even asked her if she was okay. To Melissa, it meant something. No one really gave a shit about her. So just a few kind words from a (arguably pretty) girl were enough to make her heart flutter.
Melissa didn’t dare to approach Shauna afterwards, though. She was always hanging out with the captain of the team, Jackie, which made Mel too nervous to even try to engage. Girls like that lived in a different world from her, a world where Shauna belonged. A world where Melissa would never fit.
But that was fine. She didn't mind simply admiring her from afar. Because deep down, she knew her feelings couldn’t possibly be reciprocated.
She couldn’t have predicted that her crush would turn into a full-blown obsession.
It started with a series of unfortunate events. The Yellowjackets lost to the Nationals. As a JV, Melissa didn't get to play, so she just sat on the bench during the entire match, witnessing her team get defeated (and watching Shauna). But it could have been worse, their plane could have crashed or something. But things only went downhill from that point.
Despite their defeat, they had a party. A consolation, one might say. It was also a party to celebrate the seniors' soon-to-happen graduation. Therefore, the JV weren’t invited. Which at the time, Melissa was fine with.
Until she learned what happened during said party the next morning. Jackie and Shauna apparently got into a huge drunken argument, and Jackie’s boyfriend (Jeff, right?) got involved. According to what she heard, it ended up with Jackie furiously breaking up with Jeff, and leaving the party early with the first person who agreed to drive her home.
The reason for the argument remained uncertain. Melissa heard conflicting testimonies, and there were a lot of unflattering rumors going on. But none of those really mattered, not with how tragically it ended.
Melissa learned at school that Jackie had died. Car accident. Turns out, the person who was driving was extremely drunk. And also happened to be fucking Rachel.
Rachel died too. Melissa felt some guilt that a sick part of her was relieved. She didn’t think she could bear to spend another year with her, especially since she was now in Varsity too. But it looked like she won't have to worry about that anymore.
Maybe this was what actually made her fall in love with Shauna.
Or perhaps it was when Shauna snapped the next day and beat up the first person who dared to confront her about the incident. Some girl who had the misfortune of implying that Shauna was at fault. Melissa never saw Shauna this furious before. She beat up that girl so badly that she had to leave the school in an ambulance. It was a miracle that Shauna only got suspended and not expelled.
The sight of Shauna standing above that girl, fists bloodied, with that look of pure rage on her face… it made Melissa feel things she shouldn’t have. And she may or may not have rubbed one out with that image in mind.
Shauna wasn't there at school for the following days and it was starting to bum Melissa out. Having to come to class knowing she won’t be able to see her almost made her want to skip school. But she couldn’t afford to miss days. She didn't want to have to repeat a year.
No. The moment when she truly fell in love with Shauna must have been that day.
It was during the last week of school. Melissa went to the locker room to pick up some of her stuff that she had left there. Then something on the floor attracted her attention.
It was a pink baseball cap.
Melissa recognized it. It belonged to Rachel. The hat was sitting on the floor, right next to her locker. It must have fallen when they emptied her locker. Melissa crouched down to pick it up and, listening to her impulse, put it on her head. Backward, the way she likes to wear caps. She took a quick look at herself in the mirror she kept in her locker. She wasn’t sure if pink suited her, but she did like the look it gave her.
And there was some twisted satisfaction in wearing something that belonged to Rachel, something she will never be able to wear again.
Then, Melissa was overtaken by another sudden impulse. She could see from the corner of her eye Shauna’s locker. This was so tempting to just go take a peek…
Before Melissa realized it, she was standing in front of Shauna’s locker. Would it be really that bad to take a look? She wasn’t going to take anything, or even touch anything. She was just curious. No harm done if no one knows, right?
She gripped the handle and tried to open it, but was instantly met with some resistance. She looked down and sighed, feeling dumb. There was a lock. Of course. Maybe it was for the best, a sign that she was about to cross a line she shouldn’t. She shouldn’t be invading Shauna’s privacy like that…
“What are you doing to my locker?”
Melissa barely had the time to turn around before she was roughly shoved against the locker’s door, and met a pair of very angry brown eyes.
Shauna looked like a wild beast about to sink her teeth into her. She was pinning Melissa, hands on her shoulders, but dangerously close to her neck. Mel had let out a weak whimper when her body collided with the metallic surface. The rim of Rachel’s hat hit the door and fell from her head, now lying on the floor by her feet.
Shauna’s hands were still wounded after the beating she gave to that girl. A terrifying reminder for Melissa that she could suffer the same fate. It was scary but also… strangely arousing. And Shauna might look angry right now, and tired with those dark circles under her eyes, it didn’t change the fact that she was so pretty, even more up close like that. And gosh, brown eyes really were her weakness.
Melissa was completely frozen, both by fear and by how alluring Shauna was. The latter kept glaring at her, obviously waiting for an answer from the girl she caught getting too close to her locker.
“I… I wasn’t doing… anything,” Melissa stuttered.
“Then why were you standing right in front of my locker?” Shauna insisted.
Maybe in different circumstances, Melissa would have been brave enough to confess her feelings for Shauna. Heck, maybe she would have been ballsy enough to launch herself towards Shauna and kiss her right here, right there. But she knew better. That would essentially be social suicide. Not only was she risking Shauna reacting badly, but she could tell everyone about it. And Melissa definitely did not want to risk getting outed to the entire school.
“I just… got moved to Varsity recently. I was looking for a free locker. I… didn’t know this one was taken. I didn’t notice the lock…”
This was a lie with some truth hidden in it. She was going to be in Varsity next year.
“I’m… I’m s-sorry…” Melissa muttered. She wished she could have added that she was sorry for everything that had happened to Shauna lately. For losing her best friend, for being blamed by some people, and for how lonely she must have felt lately. Before Shauna’s suspension, Melissa saw her being on her own, and part of her wished she could have gone to comfort Shauna. She knew how it felt to be alone. But she didn’t have the courage. And she still didn’t.
Shauna tilted her head, like she was contemplating her options. Then she let go of Melissa, her expression softening a bit. “It’s fine. Just move.”
Melissa realized she was still standing in front of her locker and instantly stepped aside. “Sorry…”
Shauna didn’t bother to reply. She unlocked her locker and started putting her stuff into her bag. Melissa stood awkwardly for a moment, wondering if she should say something. But given that she definitely left a bad impression, she decided it was best to just leave. So she turned back and started walking away.
“Wait,” Shauna suddenly said.
Melissa froze. Did she change her mind and decide she didn’t believe her excuse? Was she going to send her back home in an ambulance, too? Melissa’s heart was racing, and it wasn’t just out of fear, but from excitement too.
“You forgot this,” Shauna added.
Melissa turned around and saw Shauna holding the pink hat. Rachel’s hat. It seemed like she wasn’t aware of who this hat actually belonged to.
“Oh, huh… it’s not…” Melissa tried to explain.
Shauna handed it to her. “Come on. It’s yours .”
Melissa felt a certain thrill when she heard this. Shauna might have said it because she genuinely believed it was hers, but to Melissa, it felt like she was given permission to claim that hat as hers. The hat that belonged to that girl she hated. The girl Shauna unintentionally led to her death.
This hat was a gift from Shauna.
Melissa couldn’t help but smile when she took the hat, putting it back on her head. “T-thanks.”
Shauna shrugged, then went back to her locker, continuing to pack her stuff. Melissa watched her for a few more seconds before leaving.
She kept the hat and wore it every day.
Melissa’s feelings towards Shauna didn’t disappear, even two years later. She made sure to keep the fire alive. Shauna might have gone to Rutgers University, which was still fairly close to Wiskayok. Whenever she had some free time, Melissa would drive there, just to make sure Shauna was alright.
Until Melissa graduated and got admitted into Rutgers, too. She wanted to finally confess her feelings to Shauna, but that ended up being easier said than done. They weren’t in the same classes, and Shauna still gave off such an unapproachable vibe. And more importantly, Melissa was way too shy to even try to go talk to her.
“ She probably doesn’t even remember me, ” she kept telling herself.
So she just spent the whole semester following Shauna around in between classes, unable to actually approach her. She barely managed to pass her classes, so much so that her mind was preoccupied by Shauna. So much so that her dorm roommate (Gen, a girl she befriended after she joined the Varsity team) kept teasing her about it. She did tell her she had a crush on someone, but of course, she didn’t specify on who- or that it was a girl. But she had a feeling Gen already guessed she was gay, she was just polite enough to pretend she wasn’t aware. If Melissa’s heart didn’t already belong to Shauna, she might have developed a crush on Gen instead.
“So, what are your plans for the vacation?” Gen asked, a little coy. “Anything related to that crush of yours? The one who gifted you that worn-out hat you’re still wearing?”
Melissa chuckled nervously. “Maybe… I’ll go back to Wiskayok, go see my family. My crush, sh- he , lives there too. So I might bump into each other, if I’m lucky.”
“Huh-uh. Well, I sure wish you luck with him . I’m going on vacation with my family, I will probably be back a little bit before the next semester. I hope you won’t miss me too much.”
Melissa scoffed. “I won’t be missing your snoring, that’s for sure.”
Gen took an exaggerated, offended look and gave a light slap on Melissa’s shoulder. “Excuse me? I do NOT snore!”
She liked Gen. Maybe in a different universe, she would have fallen in love with her instead.
Shauna was back in Wiskayok, and so was Melissa. She knew she should finally have the courage to just walk up to her and talk to her. She didn’t need to confess her feelings right away. Maybe just try to start being her friend first. But then the issue was, she didn’t know how to befriend Shauna. What would she even talk to her about? She always admired Shauna from afar, she knew the shops and restaurants she liked to visit, who she hung out with, but when it came to Shauna’s hobbies or what she liked in general, this was a total mystery. That would require observing her not only in public, but in her private life.
Was it so wrong to try to get to know more about the person you loved?
That was what Melissa told herself when she decided to take her desire towards Shauna a step further. She waited for Shauna to leave her house (she was going to some party, from what Melissa had gathered while following her around today), then put her plan into action. After the large number of times Melissa had lurked around Shauna’s house, she knew which windows were unlikely to be locked.
As expected, the kitchen’s window wasn’t locked. Melissa adjusted her black hat, the one she liked to wear whenever she was… sneaking around. It completed her “incognito” look perfectly (a black hoodie and dark grey jeans). She wondered if she should have brought gloves, but decided it wasn’t necessary. It wasn’t as if anyone would be looking for fingerprints. If everything went according to plan, no one would even know she was there.
She opened the window and slipped inside the house, making sure to close it back behind her. Then, Melissa took a look around. Just by looking at the kitchen, you could tell someone was living there. It wasn’t perfectly tidy- there were still some dirty dishes lying around, mainly in the sink.
If she weren’t supposed to touch anything, Melissa would have gladly washed the dishes for Shauna. Ironic, given she always struggled to do it at her house. Heck, if she were Shauna’s girlfriend, she’d gladly do the dishes every day. She’d even cook and clean for her. She’d be her devoted lover and take care of the house while she’s at work. If she were allowed to marry her, Melissa would gladly be her housewife. Gosh, she’d just do anything for Shauna if it meant she’d get the privilege to be by her side.
Melissa started looking through Shauna’s pantry. Lots of snacks. Mostly snacks, actually. Then she looked in her fridge and freezer, and what she found were mostly pre-made dinners. It didn’t seem like Shauna was much of a cook. Not that Melissa minded. A full-time student wouldn’t necessarily have the time to cook anyway. And it wasn’t as if Melissa could judge her. Most of the time, she’d just grab food at a fast-foods, or order out. She wasn’t much of a cook herself… but she was willing to learn. For Shauna. Because she deserved to be fed well.
Melissa continued to make her way in the Shipman house, arriving in the living room. This looked a bit tidier than the kitchen, but Mel did notice a lot of dust. It felt like Shauna didn’t use this room much. Melissa felt some sadness at that realization.
“ Shauna mustn't have many people she can invite over and watch movies with. ”
Maybe if things work out between them, she could come over and make her watch The Princess Bride. Melissa probably saw this movie a hundred times and knew the script by heart, but she’d love to rewatch it with Shauna. Snuggling on the couch with her, while eating popcorn, and perhaps after that they could…
Melissa shook her head, trying to chase away those thoughts as she was feeling a bit flushed. She was getting ahead of herself. Maybe she should focus on trying to get coffee with Shauna first before starting to imagine those kinds of scenarios. Maybe just think about holding her hands first. But for that, she'd have to ask her out. Which meant… actually go talk to her.
And for that, she needed to know more about Shauna, hence her presence here.
Melissa made her way to the stairs and went to the first floor, looking for the place where she could learn the most about Shauna; her bedroom. Instead, she stumbled on an almost equally relevant room: the bathroom.
It was cleaner than the kitchen. There was a bathtub with a shower, as well as a washing machine. Melissa took a look in the pharmacy. Nothing out of the ordinary, except for a bottle of xanax. Was it Shauna’s prescription? It had to. As far as Melissa was aware, her mother wasn't living here anymore. Apparently she got a new lover and moved in with him in another town. As for Shauna’s father, he left when she was still a young teen. So there was only Shauna living here now.
Melissa wondered if she felt lonely in this house, all on her own. She'd gladly keep her company if so.
Then she looked in the cabinet beneath the pharmacy. It was mostly just cleaning products. She spotted a box of pads. So Shauna preferred pads over tampons, huh. Same for Melissa. At least they had that in common. Not exactly a conversation starter, though. Mel took a closer look and read “for heavy flow” on the box. Good to know.
Melissa looked around the sink a bit more, hoping she could find Shauna’s toothbrush, but no such luck. Did she bring it with her to the party? Did she intend to stay over at someone's house afterwards? This thought filled Melissa’s heart with envy. But, as far as she was aware, Shauna was single. Her only source of hope.
Her next spot to inspect was the bathtub. There was a pink bottle of shampoo on the corner. Melissa grabbed it and popped it open before taking a deep sniff.. It smelled sweet, like strawberries.
Gosh, Melissa wished she could smell Shauna’s shampoo directly from her hair.
Then, she noticed the faint water droplets on the bathtub’s wall. Shauna must have taken a bath or a shower right before leaving. So it must mean…
Melissa rushed to the washing machine and looked inside. Bingo! There were dirty clothes in it, still unwashed. Melissa didn’t think twice and grabbed the first thing she could get her hands on: a t-shirt.
It was a white t-shirt with butterflies on it. Following her impulses, Melissa brought it to her face and inhaled it, burying her nose in the fabric. There was a strong scent of sweat and a faint smell of deodorant mixed with it. So this was what Shauna smelt like… oh gosh, what she would give to be able to smell her at the source…
Melissa could feel herself getting wet in her underwear.
She was still sniffing Shauna’s dirty t-shirt, instinctively rocking her hips against the corner of the washing machine. The friction made her moan, still huffing the t-shirt.
Then she came back to her senses. This was wrong. This was… perverted . This wasn’t why she was here. This wasn’t to satisfy her lustful desires, she was there out of love. Her intentions were supposed to be pure .
“That was a close one… at least I wasn't smelling her underwear like some creep ,” Mel thought.
She took one last sniff of Shauna’s sweaty t-shirt before putting it back in the washing machine. She promptly left the bathroom, escaping from any potential temptations .
She didn’t find Shauna’s bedroom on the first floor. The only place she hadn’t checked yet was the attic. Without many other options, Melissa climbed upstairs.
Bingo. There was a bed near the window. And judging by the decoration, that must be Shauna’s bedroom. The walls were plastered with diverse posters, covering most of the flowery wallpapers (Melissa wasn’t an expert in flowers, but those looked like poppies). There was a picture faced down on the desk, and out of curiosity, Melissa lifted it just to see whose it was of.
It was a picture of Shauna and Jackie, back in high school.
Melissa put it back down. This didn’t bring good memories. And that felt like something she shouldn’t touch.
She then noticed a bunch of music CDs on her desk, too. That could be a good conversation starter (Oh, you like that group too? What a coincidence!). Melissa skimmed through them, hoping there would be Oasis, but no luck. Well, no one can be perfect. She did find Nirvana, which was a classic, but almost everyone liked that group so it wouldn’t feel… special. Not something unique that she could bond with Shauna. But then, she stumbled on one CD that surprised her.
It was the Weezer.
Somehow, she wasn’t expecting Shauna to be a Weezer fan. Melissa liked that group, but she was more casual about it. But still, that could be the perfect group to approach Shauna with, especially given the gay undertone this group was associated with. And who knows, maybe she could suggest Oasis to her. That’d make two groups to talk about, that’d be perfect.
She had what she came for. Valuable information about Shauna, and ideas of topics she could bring up if she finally had the courage to go talk to her. In theory, she was done here. She could just leave and pretend she was never there in the first place.
Except her attention was dangerously caught by a specific item in the room: Shauna’s bed.
The bed was unmade. Blankets and pillows were a mess. It felt like Shauna had just crawled out from her bed. Melissa wondered if it was still warm.
Before she realized it, Melissa had made her way to Shauna’s bed. With some hesitation, she started touching the sheets, expectantly.
They were cold.
Melissa sighed. Of course Shauna wouldn’t have gotten out of bed this late. She just didn’t make her bed. Not that Melissa could judge her there. She also rarely ever made her bed. Yet another thing she had in common with Shauna.
Then her attention went to Shauna’s many pillows. One of them seemed to be her main one, the one she’d lay her head on. Melissa didn’t even think twice and just grabbed it. It was cold too, but that wasn’t why she reached for it.
Without any second thought, Melissa buried her face in it and took a deep breath. She could smell a faint scent of strawberry- Shauna’s shampoo. Mixed with something else. That must be Shauna’s smell.
If she could smell Shauna’s hair right now, it would be smelling like this pillow.
All rational thoughts left Melissa’s body. She let herself fall onto Shauna’s bed, her face buried deep in the pillow, trying to get as much of Shauna’s scent as she could. She wished the actual Shauna were lying down in bed with her right now, and she could smell her directly. Touch her. Taste her even.
Melissa’s hand reached for her crotch, slipping inside her pants, rubbing her core through the fabric of her boxers. A part of her deep down knew it was wrong, that it was perverted , but she couldn’t bring herself to care right now. Screw being pure , lust was just part of love after all, so why was it wrong for her to have those urges? She desired Shauna so badly, she had for the past 2 years, and this was the closest she ever got to feel her.
She could feel her wetness through her underwear as she kept rubbing herself, moaning into Shauna’s pillow. She was pressing herself further into the bed, imagining what it would be like if Shauna were with her. If it were Shauna’s hand touching her.
“S-Shauna… Shauna… please, Shauna…” she whined, breathing heavily into the pillow.
Creak.
Melissa’s heart skipped a beat, and she froze for a second. Someone was walking up the stairs.
“Shit!”
Was it Shauna? It had to be her. Who else would it be? Melissa wasn’t expecting her to come back home this soon. That was just her luck, huh…
That wouldn’t have happened if she had left once she was done snooping around.
Melissa quickly got out of the bed, leaving the pillow behind (much to her chagrin), then looked around for a hiding spot. When she heard the door creaking, Melissa rushed to the only place she could think of: the closet. She left the door ajar so she could see who was coming.
“ And I’m back in the closet… ” she thought.
The first thing Melissa noticed was a rainbow-colored scarf, then how many flannels there were. Interesting.
She didn’t have the time to ponder further on those, though. The bedroom door opened, and Shauna stepped inside the room. Followed by some guy.
No, not some guy. Melissa remembered briefly seeing him before. He was Mari’s new boyfriend. And there he was, in Shauna’s bedroom, making out with her.
That wasn’t good.
Melissa couldn’t care less that this guy was cheating on his girlfriend. That was on him. But seeing Shauna kissing a guy like that really upset Melissa. She didn’t want to imagine Shauna with a man. She didn’t want to think about Shauna’s sexuality. But more importantly.
She wanted to be the one kissing Shauna right now.
Shauna pushed that guy onto her bed. The same bed Melissa was in not even a minute ago, touching herself while smelling Shauna’s pillow. She hastily undid his belt, and thank God that from this angle, Melissa didn’t have to see his dick. Shauna pulled up her t-shirt, only keeping her bra. She then straddled that guy, pulling down her pants and taking him inside of her.
At least, that was what Melissa assumed happened. Shauna was on top of him, seemingly riding his dick. She was moaning as she rocked her hips, and Melissa felt the ugly feeling of jealousy deep in her chest.
She hoped he could just drop dead.
She wanted to be the one Shauna pushed on her bed, she wanted to be the one Shauna was riding (she might not have a dick, she had fingers, and she could put them to work if required). She wanted to be the one who made Shauna moan in pleasure like that.
“ I bet I could make her moan louder, ” Mel thought bitterly.
Melissa couldn’t stop watching Shauna. She couldn’t help but try to picture herself beneath her, being the one pleasuring her, being able to feel her most intimate spot, have her moan her names…
Her hand was back on her crotch, rubbing herself. She couldn’t help it. She was still so wet down there, and seeing Shauna like that, moaning in pleasure, was just so arousing.
“Tell me you love me,” Shauna suddenly demanded, panting. “Even if you don’t mean it.”
Melissa would tell her she loved her in a heartbeat if she asked her. And she would mean it.
“I love you Shauna,” he groaned.
Urgh.
Then that guy started grunting. Melissa did not want to hear him. This was such a turn off…
Except he wasn’t grunting. Not in pleasure, at least. It sounded more like he was choking. Melissa noticed that he had something wrapped around his neck, some sort of rope, and Shauna was pulling on it. She was strangling him. Melissa just stared at them, confused. Was this supposed to be a sex thing? He sure didn’t seem to be enjoying this, given he was now struggling to break free. Shauna, on the other hand, was grinning. She was enjoying this.
Then he managed to push Shauna away and tried to run away. Shauna quickly got up from her bed while pulling up her pants, and grabbed something that was underneath her bed: a knife.
Melissa could never have expected what she witnessed. Shauna rushed towards that guy before he could reach the door and brutally stabbed him in the back. He screamed and collapsed to the floor. Shauna flipped him on his back and climbed on top of him, merciless like a predator, before stabbing him again, this time in the chest. He let out a cry of agony as his blood splattered on Shauna. She looked completely unfazed. She simply pushed the knife deeper, and she grinned again. She looked so satisfied. It felt as if doing this brought her some kind of relief.
Meanwhile, Melissa couldn’t move. She couldn’t stop looking either. She was shocked beyond words. Horrified, even. She simply couldn’t process what she just saw.
Shauna murdered someone right in front of her eyes. And it wasn’t the kind of situation where one could claim it was an accident, or self-defence. This was undeniably murder. Premeditated, first-degree murder. And judging by her expression, she enjoyed it. She looked ecstatic.
The girl she fell in love with was a killer.
Melissa knew this should be the end of her crush. She knew this was wrong. And yet…
Shauna looked so fucking hot right now, with all that blood covering her nearly topless chest. And the way she was smiling was so alluring.
Melissa tried to move, but her arm hit something behind her. It was too dark for her to see, but whatever object it was, it made some noise when it fell to the ground.
Shauna turned around and glared at the closet, bloody knife still in her hand.
“Is someone there?” her voice sounded rough.
Melissa held back her breath, her heart racing like crazy.
Shit. This wasn’t good. If Shauna found her there, she’d probably kill her. This was going to be the end for her.
But was it so bad to be killed by the one you love?
Melissa shook her head. Of course it was! Shauna was a crazy murderer, and she didn’t want to fucking die. This was just… insane.
How could she not have seen that coming? She had been following Shauna for two years now, and she somehow didn’t find out she was a killer? Or was this just a one-time thing? Shauna looked too calculating when killing this guy; this couldn’t be the first time… was she actually a serial killer?
That was just her luck, huh?
“If there is someone in there, come out there,” Shauna threatened. “Don’t make me go get you.”
Melissa stood there for a moment. Should she come out? Either way, she didn’t see a way for her to escape her fate. Shauna was going to kill her either way. Or perhaps she would spare her if she obeyed? Maybe they could talk this out. Maybe this was a misunderstanding, maybe this guy did do something to deserve this.
Against her better judgment, Melissa opened the closet door and slowly stepped outside. Her heart was beating so fast and strongly that she felt like it might come out of her chest. As soon as she was in her sight, Shauna glared at her. She looked… surprised. Like she wasn’t expecting to see her there. Like she wasn’t expecting this kind of situation where someone would be hiding in her room when she was… doing that kind of stuff.
At least Shauna hadn’t jumped on her yet to stab her, which was a good start. At least, that was what Melissa told herself, as reassurance.
“H-Hi… S-Shauna. This… this isn’t what you think,” Melissa attempted nervously. She was so terrified. “I was just… I won’t tell anyone-”
Shauna didn’t let her finish that sentence. “What the fuck were you doing in my closet?”
Then, what she added next might have felt more painful to Melissa than getting stabbed in the chest.
“And who the fuck are you!?”
