The Betrayal

Summary:

Judas goes in for the kiss

Notes:

please forgive me father for we have sinned with this, or maybe 'cause we're lesbians

Work Text:

It was 1:27 am when the deal had been made. Judsas had told the soldiers police officers of Jerusalem that he would give out the identity of the most wanted man in the country. Jesus.

“How will we know which is The One?” the police officers asked.

“Well, I’ll go up to him…” he trailed off the words, looking at those authoritarian men in the eyes “And I’ll kiss him”

“You’ll what?” one of them asked, surprised, though not disappointed.

“I’ll kiss him” Judas replied, sure in his statement, his chin up.

“Isn’t there a more subtle way to show us?” another asked.

They were all pretty confused, but the look in Judas’ eyes left no space for doubt. He would have done it for real for real.

“Couldn’t you just…” an officer in the back of the group spoke up “I dunno…high-five him?”

“No…” Judas replied, his gaze almost sad “You don’t understand how important this is”

“Important? For what?” the other continued with his questioning.

“.... for the plot” Judas replied.

“Oh…” some of them said, no one really understood shit “Then go on with it. As long as we can apprehend Jesus of Nazareth you can do whatever you prefer”

But something was wrong, they could feel it.

The night was dark, not a lot of stars could be seen, but Jesus’ figure in the garden of Gethsemane was as bright as the moon. It was almost as if he was shining with his own light. Judas asked himself how the police officers couldn’t tell he was The One just by that fact.

It wasn’t important. He would pull through this. He would go for the kiss. He slowly walked up to him, smiling slightly. Jesus was looking to the side at Peter and the rest of the disciples when the scuff of Judas’ sandal caught his attention. Their eyes met softly but Judas felt struck by the moonlight caught in the messiah’s eyes, he always felt caught in his eyes.

“My brother,” Jesus said gently, handing out his palm to his friend “What brings you to me?”

Judas almost felt a pang in his heart knowing what he was about to do, but he needed the money, though he had no family or a house or anything really to buy. He was just glad that the last time he would be close to his mentor would have been for a smooch.

Jesus looked at the man in the eyes, and felt it inside. This was the moment of truth, he thought about the name Daniel for a second, he knew it would have happened in 2018… Connor would have betrayed Daniel.

It was almost as if the same thing was happening now, but the look in his friend’s eyes wasn’t threatening, it was… promising.

Judas stepped forward, unafraid and with no regrets. No pain no gain , he thought, and his lips met Jesus’.

Jesus was surprised (but not disappointed), for a second, but then, even with the eyes of the other eleven dudes on them, he went in for the kiss as well.

The police officers raised an eyebrow when the two also started to hug, not a friendly pat on the back hug, a proper passionate hug under the moonlight.

They almost cried in phatos. But they knew they would soon be separated… forever. So they gave them a few minutes.

“Bro, what are you doing?” Jesus asked when for a second, their lips detached. His tone was soft, he was smiling.

Damn if I’m a piece of crap. Judas thought.

“I’m sorry” he said softly, tears forming at the corners of his eyes.

“Sorry? Damn I had been wishing for that for months” Jesus cupped his face, happy to know Judas felt… the same way.

“Yo can you stop now?” the police officer got closer.

“I don’t think being homosexual is a crime” Jesus frowned at the approaching man.

“I don’t think so either” said the police officer “But you’re under arrest”

“For what?” Jesus was surprised to hear that. He was pretty sure he had done nothing wrong. He thought about it for a second, maybe one or two things had been morally questionable such as transforming water into wine and suggesting that alcoholism is a good life choice, but… an arrest?

The police officer stared at the ground, his tone was low, decisive.

“It’s for the plot” he murmured.

“Oh…” Jesus said, suddenly illuminated by a vision of all human history “I understand, you’re right”.

“Don’t worry” the officer said, handcuffing The Messiah “You’ll inspire millions of people”

“I know” Jesus said with a crooked smile “But I won’t forgive those weirdos on Ao3”.

And so, just like that, he got carried away in the moonlit night.
