Work Text:
Since getting his textbook, Seo-wan had been studying nonstop for the past few hours now. He’d been in the psychiatric ward for so long now, he hadn’t been able to study at all due to his delusions. Though, now that he was showing signs of improvement, he was finally able to study so he’d hopefully be able to pass his exam this time.
However, studying for as long as he was after not doing so for such a long time, wasn’t necessary a good idea. Seo-wan didn’t think anything of it, he thought he’d be able to handle it and be able to study, but as time passed, he felt so overwhelmed and stressed out from it.
Seo-wan felt a feeling he hadn’t felt in a while. His head began to get all fuzzy and cloudy, he couldn’t think properly or focus on anything. He looked at his textbook, but he couldn’t process what it said or what any of the words meant. He was age regressing, and it was happening fast too.
Seo-wan was upset and frustrated over what was happening. He just wanted to study, he didn’t have time to regress. He needed to study, he needed to pass his exam, there was nothing more important than that. But he couldn’t. Not now, not when he felt the way he did.
Soft sniffles came from Seo-wan as he stared down at the book, his eyes slowly teary up as his bottom lip trembled slightly. That fuzzy, unwanted feeling quickly took over as Seo-wan quietly hiccuped, pushing his glasses up to wipe away his tears.
Seo-wan was alone in the room, the other three patients he shared the room with weren’t there right. He didn’t know how long he’d been quietly crying to himself, but it felt like an eternity. Though, Seo-wan wasn’t alone for too much longer, as he soon heard footsteps walking into the room, followed by a cheerful voice.
“How’s studying going, Mr. Kim?” Seo-wan didn’t even look at Da-eun, he only let out a small cry and wiped his tears away again. Da-eun’s smile dropped, her expression turning into more of a considered one now.
“Mr. Kim, what’s wrong? Why are you crying?” Da-eun’s voice was soft as she slowly walked over to the bed Seo-wan sat on. Seo-wan looked up at her, whimpering a little as his bottom lip began to quiver again.
“I tried..t’ study but..can’t..” Seo-wan struggled to speak, both because of how upset he was and how little he had regressed. Da-eun gave a small, understanding nod as she frowned sympathetically.
“Then how about you take a break, hm? Studying too much at once can make you feel very overwhelmed and stressed, so let’s take a break for today.” She told Seo-wan. He whined a little, but nodded. He wasn’t the type to argue, even though he didn’t want to take a break, he also just couldn’t study with the way his head felt now.
Da-eun smiled, closing up Seo-wan’s textbook and putting it on the shelf beside of his bed. Seo-wan watched her do so, rubbing the tears from his eyes with his fists while quietly whimpering and whining.
“Mr. Kim?” Da-eun turned around to look at him. “Is there something else going on? I rarely ever see you this upset.” She said. Seo-wan stared up at her for a moment, before slowly pointing at his head.
“Little..” Was all he managed to mumble out. Da-eun nodded, already having a feeling he was age regressed. She was knowledgeable on the subject and had seen it before with other patients, so it wasn’t anything she was unused to. “Okay..” Da-eun spoke softly, moving the bed tray away since Seo-wan wasn’t using it to hold his book anymore.
“What would you like to do then, Mr. Kim? I can bring you to go color or play tennis, you can take a nap and get some rest, or I can schedule a session with your doctor if you need to talk to him about this. Can you pick one of those options for me?” She asked him.
Seo-wan thought for a moment. “I’m tired.” He answered. Da-eun smiled at him. “Then I think taking a nap might be the best option, huh?” Seo-wan nodded in response, pushing his glasses up once again to rub his eyes.
“Would you like me to set your glasses on the shelf for you, Mr. Kim? You don’t want to wear them while you’re sleeping.” Da-eun offered. A soft hum left Seo-wan as he took his glasses off and handed them to Da-eun.
“Thank you..” He quietly murmured as Da-eun put his glasses up for him. “Of course!” She smiled as she turned back to him. “Lay down, okay? Try and get some rest.” Seo-wan did as he was told, while Da-eun put his blanket fully over him.
“Come get me if you need anything at all, alright? I’m here to help.” Da-eun told him. Seo-wan nodded, rubbing his face a little, before he ended up slipping his thumb into his mouth to suck on it for comfort. Da-eun frowned at the action, knowing it wasn’t necessarily sanitary but he was self soothing, so she decided not to say anything.
“I have to go now, but I’ll come check on you later. Get some sleep so you feel better.” Da-eun said. Seo-wan nodded, his eyes slowly closing. “Bye bye..” He whispered, using his other hand to wave at her.
Da-eun smiled, waving right back to him. “Bye bye.” She repeated, before quietly leaving the room, letting Seo-wan get the rest that he needed after overworking himself. Da-eun hoped he’d feel better once he’d wake up.
