Baking news: Dragon holds the wrong monarchy for ransom. More at three

Summary:

Dragons are meant to kidnap princesses. Dragons are meant to fight knights. Dragons are meant to cause chaos.
When a black and blueish dragon abducts the most beautiful being of a kingdom, surely, it must be their princess... right?

After all, she is living in the castle!

Notes:

Hello! I really dissappeared without notice... I was busy! But here I'm, bringing something new. This might surprise some to have some verses, this is also a reason why I'm taking so long to post this one... is because rhyming is hard, but I really wanted to write about dragons and princesses and what more suited than a bard style combined with a novel like narrative, I also hope you won't take this as something serious cuz I'm just trying to get back to writing :)

If you finished reading this, you are awesome.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: First Act: Dragons are also fools.

Chapter Text

« Once upon a time,

There was a King in white,

White their robes, bright their hair,

He was so fair and rare,

That a dragon swore,

“Mine to keep he is, after all.” »

« Even within the castle’s walls,

With the king in his hands, he soared,

Taking the King without accord,

Oh fair King…

How did you end up like this?   »

« The Dragon, in bliss,

Brought the King to the abyss,

The kingdom without a king,

Everything was amiss. »

«So a knight rose without dismiss,

Brave he was,

But there was a flaw,

He was against a dragon’s jaws. »

« Without a pause,

The knight went on,

With his companions, after all,

To the abyss, they marched on... »

The so called abyss where the dragon resided was a dark and tall tower. Many had warned about a dark, blue dragon yet no one dared to act against it. However no matter how difficult and ludicrous mission he was upfront with, GingerBrave the knight couldn’t let the dragon get away with their king. With his trusty team, the Mace Maiden Strawberry cookie and Grand Wizard Cookie, they were all up to the feat.

—D-Do we really have to fight a dragon…? —Strawberry Cookie asked, holding her mace lollipop.

—Of course we do! We must save our king. —GingerBrave replied, with vigorous energy.

—But… they said it was gigantic! Ferocious and fatal! What if… he eats us in a single bite?! —Strawberry Cookie looked mortified from imagining it. Her hands were around her strawberry helmet, and a single little tear appeared in the corner of one of her eyes.

—We have the greatest wizard with us. He surely can defeat it with a single lightning strike! —GingerBrave reassured her, putting a hand on her shoulder.

—Huh?! —Wizard Cookie suddenly felt the weight of expectations on him, but he couldn’t let himself look bad in front of his teammates. With a practiced smirk he uplifted his chin. —Yes! O-Of course, that dragon is going to be nothing against my powerful magic!

GingerBrave nodded feeling greatly impressed; a confident smile was plastered on his face. They would be the dough heroes of the kingdom; they would bring back their king with the defeated dragon as their prize. As the mental image appeared in his mind, with their king looking proud of them and the kingdom citizens cheering, he gave a step ahead, every single step more assured than the last, he marched on.

—Uhm… GingerBrave…?—Strawberry Cookie looked at him confused, her eyebrows raising and knitting together. She was standing beside Wizard Cookie with a map on her hands.

—Yes?—He looked back while his feet still marched ahead.

—The map says we… are walking in the wrong direction… —she pointed at the map. The dark and ominous tower pointed to be behind a cumulous of peaks and mountains, but GingerBrave was walking towards the forest which was at the other said of the mountains.

Oh doughs… this journey would be a long one, would these heroes be able to get to where their captured king resided?

«The Dragon yawned,

The King was on his claws,

Oh fair King…

How will you hang on? »

«The King,

 Fearless and kind,

Afraid wasn’t of this dragonkind

With his words polite, he ought to remind,

No claw may keep

What was never confined. »

«But the Dragon laughed,

Because such words,

Weren’t anything more but a gag.

No matter what the King bragged,

In his claws he was. »

«The Dragon and the King,

A Puppet master and plaything,

  What their destiny will be?”

—No matter how much you try to harass me, I will not falter under your intimidation. —The King, Pure Vanilla Cookie spoke. The claws were surrounding him like a cage.

—Will you? Will you not? — The dragon, meters taller than the small King, was showing his big and sharp teeth. —If you did, what a boring game this would be, but I’m sure you will always keep up to my expectations. —The dragon’s eyes were sharp and focused in the small creature in his claws.

—You speak as if a game is this, dragon. —Pure Vanilla Cookie answered him.

The dragon cackled at such words. His laugh resounding as roars, filled the dark space. —A game it is! Princess!

—…Princess?—The King spoke, dumbfounded by the words.

—That’s right! Dragons kidnap princesses. —The dragon lifted his chin, scratching it with one of his free claws. The blue shadows following him as he moved. —I can not wait until the knight shows up for you, princess. I will make sure to play with both of you fully. —His smile turned wide, as if ready to eat the princess in front of him with a single bite.

Pure Vanilla Cookie looked at the dragon. His stern gaze softening at the stupidity of the dragon. He had been mistaken as the princess of his kingdom.

—Why aren’t you talking? —The dark dragon lifted the little creature towards one of his eyes. —Aren’t you supposed to be screaming or at least… look concerned? —His big heterochromatic eyes were inspecting the bright king. His head tilting as he waited for the response.

—A king. —Pure Vanilla Cookie looked at him. —I’m the king.

The dragon was still. He slowly downed his arms, and then up, looked at the king again so close that his eyeball were almost touching his claws, and he repeated this process bit more times as if the result would change with every new iteration. —Why kind of king looks like this?! —He almost roared these words. —Why don’t you look like a decrepit old man with beard and with so many wrinkles that they don’t even fit on their face?

—…—the king looked at the distraught dragon in silence.

—Now… what do I do with a king? —Shadow Milk Cookie dragon’s form looked around. This wasn’t on the script of dragons kidnapping princesses, definitely not part of the book: Cookie S. M. (504), How to be an ominous chaotic dragon and put kingdoms in jeopardy Volume I, 1st Edition.

Chapter 2: Second Act: His followers are also fools.

Chapter Text

«But for the knight and his entourage,

To a desolated mountain

They did arrived,

At the top of its peak,

The dark tower stood unique. »

«The dark clouds surrounded the sky,

And the nefarious dragon and their king,

In his lair was,

Will this knight even be able to the destiny defy? »

«But there wasn’t time to doubt,

Because, his hideout,

Wasn’t alone to pry.

A new obstacle dropped by,

What these heroes may fight? »

—Hehehe…—A devilish and cute voice interrupted the dough heroes on their climb to the mountain’s peak. —What are you doing?—A pretty and petite young lady was standing in the middle of the road—Searching for someone…?—her head tilted and in her face a plastered smile turned cunning and cat-like while her eyes slowly became slanted. Her sweet glossy apples shined trough the dark atmosphere.

GingerBrave at first didn’t register the voice, or what he was seeing. It was a very cute cookie standing in such ominous place. —Searching… Do you perhaps know where—He was about to finish his reply when the girl spoke again.

—Are you the knights of the princess?—She suddenly looked excited, knowing well that she was right. After all, her task was to hinder their climb as her master had tasked with.

—…—GingerBrave blinked, followed by Strawberry Cookie and Wizard Cookie. —Princess?—they asked in unison.

—Yeah! The lady with long and blonde hair, even when I saw her dress I could tell she was your kingdom beloved princess!—She couldn’t contain her excitement. —Ah how sweet, real knights came to her rescue, and I… Can have… FUN! —Her smile grew wider and sharp.

—No… We… We are looking for our king. —GingerBrave replied cutting the sudden tension, suddenly they were group of four cookies standing in the middle of a mountain road in silence.

—Your king…?—She suddenly fell back. Her smile shattering and her eyebrows contorting. One of her finger touched her mouth. —I’m sure my master kidnapped a princess…

—Are we in the wrong place?—GingerBrave whispered at Strawberry Cookie at his side.

—I don’t think so… This is the nefarious shadow dragon lair.—She replied back mimicking his whisper.

—What if the dragon has kidnapped also a princess of other kingdom?—Wizard Cookie joined the conversation with the same secrecy.

—I can hear you.—the petite lady interrupted them, her eyes looking straight at them.

The three of them gasped taking a step back.

—Are you… lying to me?—her face lost all her cheerfulness. Her gaze was piercing. But before, the situation became even more awry, suddenly a shadow being appeared at her side. It was a tall man dressed very elegant, he crouched a bit and whispered something to the lady.

—Huh?! Our master—She was interrupted by the man to not say anything more. —It… Impossible! You are lying Black Sapphire Cookie!

The man shrugged. Not saying much back. But the petite lady couldn’t contain her anger that the words still come out.

—Our master wouldn’t get it wrong! Take it back!—She said squeezing her hands; her face showed how furious she was about hearing such words.

—What?—the heroes spouted in unison.

—It was definitely a princess, I saw her. —She was currently focused in the new cookie. —She had a pretty star between her bangs, and her dress was flowy and princess like!

Wizard Cookie, who was much aware of the dangers of being caught by this two cookies, dragged both Strawberry Cookie and GingerBrave past the bickering cookies, running towards the tower at the end of the road. Somehow they had avoided the current distracted dragon’s servants and arrived to the tower.

«The dragon, all powerful and all,

Within his mirrors

He saw it all

His servants and their pointless talk

Let the heroes freely walk.»

«The captured king at his side,

 Staring, he was,

Within the mirrors he saw,

His way out. »

—Your servants…—The king was sitting beside the large being, he was currently still captured, just not between the claws.

—Shut up. —The dragon huffed, not looking at the small figure who oozed with a mocking aura.

—They are… —the king tried again.

—I don’t hear you. —The tail of the dragon smacked the ground; he wasn’t in the mood to hear about his servants and even less to hear the mocking of a captured king.

—charming…—He ended his sentence, while his hair moved around with the wind that the tail smack had provoked. It was obvious the dragon had hoped to see a more intense fight. —So what now? —He asked, cleaning the dust particles who reached his side.

—They aren’t like this, okay?—His claw appeared in front of the face of the calm cookie. —They are powerful and great, and will destroy your stupid knights… just one second. —He was currently trying to contact them, in the mirror all he was seeing was Candy Apple Cookie still fighting Black Sapphire Cookie about the fallings of her master and her undying devotion of not believing such awful words like mistake.

In the mirror, Pure Vanilla Cookie saw a small like dragon appeared in the side of the fighting cookies. It was a plushy like, with sewed buttons for eyes and obvious seams.

—Hey. —The little dragon was trying to get the attention of the two cookies. —HEY!

—Huh? —Candy Apple Cookie was biting the arm of Black Sapphire Cookie until her eyes looked at the tiny dragon in the floor, her mouth still biting the arm. Then with a jump, she dived to hug the little dragon. —Master! There you are, Black Sapphire Cookie was saying that y—

—The heroes. —The dragon plushy said unamused.

—The heroes?—She tilted her head. —The heroes! —She finally looked around seeing no one but her fellow partner. —Oh no! They are gone!

—Stop playing around, you two at least need to take an arm, a leg or something from them! —The dragon threw a fit in the arms of the girl.

—Sorry master. —His two servants said in unison.

—Candy Apple Cookie. —Black Sapphire Cookie looked at the young girl who was devastated for having falling her task. —Ready for the true show? —He smiled. —Our tower has many floors, I’m sure they aren’t even on the second one.

Her drooping eyes became big and round again, her cat-like smile returned. —I take two and you one. —She was back full of energy.

—If you get to them first, sure. —He had an equal cunning smile on him.

«The two servants, side by side,

With a jump, they went back

Which floor this two will find

These prying heroes that they track? »

Notes:

This was more about Candy Apple Cookie but who can blame me when she is this cute?, but don't worry, next chap is action for both Candy Apple Cookie and Black Sapphire :) Will I put an action scene? Who knows hehehe...

Chapter Text

«The tower rumbled, the heroes stumbled,

The loud steps so far away

Suddenly made them feel like prey

One floor, two floors, three floors,

Is this the right door? »

—Empty again…—Strawberry Cookie stared at the dark room. The tower was a tricky place. Every floor had dozens of doors which connected to random rooms, and behind one of them was the staircase for the next floor.

Out of the blue, a scream interrupted the search for the correct door. Strawberry Cookie looked back and saw, for the fourth time, GingerBrave slam a door shut.

—A sweet shark-infested room again?—Strawberry Cookie closed the door of the empty room.

—Worse! There was a cake hound showering without a shower curtain! —GingerBrave covered his eyes in shame.

—How come every door I open ends up being a room with weights or clowns?! —Wizard Cookie also slammed his chosen door.

Strawberry Cookie stared at her two teammates suffering from their respective chosen doors. —I only get empty rooms…

Even after opening the doors of the floor. There was a problem.

Every single door was set up to lead to a different place each time it was opened. Because of that, it took them several tries opening the same doors again and again until it finally revealed the way up.

—Is the dragon messing with us?—Wizard Cookie grabbed his head.

—Well… I don’t think he wants us to rescue our king. —Strawberry Cookie shrugged her shoulders.

—We have to keep trying! We don’t know if the dragon’s servants are following us! —GingerBrave opened his door again, hoping it would finally connect to the staircase. What he saw was the sweet young lady with her glassy apples reflecting GingerBrave’s surprise face back.

—We found each other again! —she smiled.

GingerBrave closed the door, interrupting the bright and dangerous cookie behind the door. —Run! —He screamed.

The door… opened slowly with Candy Apple Cookie looking unamused. —That was rude! —She squeezed her hands while she pouted.

The three heroes tried their best at opening the closer doors; every each of them entered a door hoping it would save them from the threat of Candy Apple Cookie’s anger.

Wizard Cookie appeared in a dark room. There was one single light and he was below it, it was his own spotlight. He clutched his wand so hard that his dough crumbled, and fragments fell to the floor, looking around him. Abruptly, more spotlights started to illuminate the room, until it was all lit up. He was in the middle of a stage. The stage had simple and refined cutouts and he wasn’t able to distinguish what they were for.

Before he could decide about what to do, another spotlight startled him. This one illuminated one spot in the audience and therefore, an ominous figure was properly revealed. The obsidian hair was the first thing he recognized, and then the tailored black suit and the light that reflected the gold accents.

This was the one that the candy-apple lady had called Black Sapphire Cookie during their discussion.

—I-I will defeat you! —Wizard Cookie’s words came out in a hurry, almost slurred.

—No, there is no time for that. My show is about to start…—He clapped his hands. —And I’m very delighted that you will also be part of it.

—W-What? —Wizard Cookie stepped back on an impulse.

—That’s right. —He smiled while sitting in the director’s chair. —Today’s quite special; I’ve collected very nice rumors for you to participate in.

Wizard Cookie was about to open his mouth to reply when the stage lights went down as the clap of Black Sapphire Cookie resounded in the theater room and engine sounds interrupted the silence. Different cutouts started to roll from the ceiling until they touched the stage floor.

The cutouts were lit up one by one as if finally revealing the new scene of an act. The cutouts looked like the teachers of Wizard Cookie at the magic tower in the kingdom and the rest of the cutouts resembled items of a classroom. A very clear voice replaced the engine sounds.

—Some said the greatest Wizard Cookie… cheated in tests to win the favor of his teachers…—the voice accompanied the strange atmosphere.—But not many know… he used to forget to write his own name in his tests!

Wizard Cookie’s wand dropped onto the floor. With a swoop, he picked it up again. The spotlight illuminated him again. —But worst of all…

A new cutout appeared in the scene, standing in the middle of the back wall of the stage. It revealed…

The spell he created in his studying years. His mouth dropped and his eyebrows went up. His spell that allowed the caster to grow an instant beard and handsome muscles. It was his most shameful spell, one he created during his younger years in the Magic Tower hoping to look more mature.

The wand dropped again because his hands reached for his face and the laugh of Black Sapphire Cookie decorated the shameful secret revealed. The current dough hero was replaying his own naïve memories of the past.

—S-STOP!—He looked at the man in the audience seats.

—Oh—Strawberry Cookie, who had followed Wizard Cookie during their escape previously didn’t expect this sudden revelation.

The voice of Strawberry Cookie startled Wizard Cookie, whose eyes slowly found the owner of the voice in the seats at the back. With a jump towards the floor he covered his face with his hands. —Noooo…—His most shameful secret was busted just like that.

Just like that one dough hero was defeated… The other was feeling quite awkward about this.

—But of course, this won’t be a good show if one of its guests isn’t part of it. —Black Sapphire Cookie stood up, his eyes looking straight at Strawberry Cookie. She picked up her mace from her back, but she had a feeling she wouldn’t use it.

—I… I…—Strawberry Cookie tried to think about what this cookie would say about her, what shameful secret she had that could knock her out just like Wizard Cookie, who was trying to dig into the stage floor to avoid the shameful spell on display.

—Afraid? Curious? Worried?—Black Sapphire Cookie crossed his arms. The cutouts used for Wizard Cookie started rising to the ceiling, but the one used for the spell remained in the same place while new ones went down. A mirror cutout appeared, a letter cutout also appeared, and finally a cookie-cutout appeared.

—Some say… the mace maiden is someone elegant and quiet.—the voice of Black Sapphire Cookie started narrating again. —But they don’t know… She spends thirty minutes practicing her smile in the mirror! Or that she wrote letters to cookies of another kingdom but always forgot to write the address… or… she found her courage to speak to new cookies to only to find out the person beside her in the bench was unable to hear her because she was too shy too realize the other cookie was listening to music, poor her. She spent forty minutes speaking to the wind. —He said as the new cutouts accompanying the narration appeared on the stage once again.

Strawberry Cookie covered her face with her strawberry helmet, her mace also dropping to the seats beside her.

This dragon’s servant had the most venomous tongue, capable of reducing his enemies with the poison of their own shameful acts.

«A venomous tongue,

Two heroes’ heart stung,

 The path above,

May never be within reach for both. »

«The dragon at the top,

Let out a laugh nonstop,

But the king didn’t woe,

Since his heroes would overcome. »

«Two heroes in shame

Felt equally lame

This wasn’t a fair game

But no matter their pain

Their victory they must obtain.  »

A lightning strike took down the cutouts. It seemed Wizard Cookie had recovered his will. His wizard cone hat still covered his face in a pursue of hiding his face but for his teammate, he would fight even when he felt like still digging himself to the ground.

Strawberry Cookie saw how her cutouts were burning from the powerful lightning and with all her might, she spun with her mace on her hands and sent it flying, towards the big cutout of the back. The mace crushed the cutout making it fall towards the floor.

Each one had destroyed the shameful secret of the other.

Black Sapphire Cookie looked at his burning stage, then at the two heroes. Strawberry Cookie was at his back while Wizard Cookie was in front of him looking ready for a fight.

With a performer bow, a portal appeared below him. —It seems my show is over, you are free to continue. His body went inside the portal while he waved goodbye. —I hope you can continue entertaining our master with your fight.

Black Sapphire Cookie’s job was only to continue the script of his master, and he knew his master wished for the trio to arrive at the top for their final fight for the p̶r̶i̶n̶c̶e̶s̶s̶ king.

«The two heroes were confused

But they didn’t refuse

A victory is a victory

No matter how contradictory »

«At the other side

A hero remained

Followed by

An unrestrained cookie behind »

«Afraid he was

Going door by door, without pause

He ended up

Inside a room full of cotton inside. »

Notes:

Yes the second part of chap 3 will come later with what happened to GingerBrave and Miss Candy Apple with our audience at the top of the tower. This is a silly history like a fairy tail so of course I have no violence here nor sense :)))) Enjoy.

Notes:

I'm not going to lie to you, the next parts might take some (hopefully not long) time to be post, I'm currently still working in the next verses and rhymes thus I cannot promise when I will post next part but please have me some patience, I'm here trying to cook the best I can ;;;;
