"and in this pool of blood I'll meet your eyes, I mean this forever!"

Summary:

The torment in Travis's mind became too much, his father, brother, the assault, the cannibalism. It all built up until he couldn't take it anymore.

Natalie noticed he was missing as everybody crowded for the slim breakfast. She figured she'd go look for him.

As she got to the door of the plane she could smell it.

Blood.

Chapter Text

Her blood ran as cold as his lifeless body in front of her. Travis laid limp in the middle of the disheveled plane isle, eyes open, wrists sliced, a pool of blood soaking everything around.. His expression showed the agony he had felt when he died. The trauma and pain from his mind finally came out to show the wilderness what it had caused him. Natalie fell to her knees, crawling over to Travis. "No- no please come on" She choked out as she shook his body. The sticky clotted blood soaking her hands. He did not stir, all life was gone. She didn't realize that when he curled next to her in her shelter, slightly waking her up, that that was the last time she'd see him alive.

Natalie wailed as she continued shaking him, shaking and shaking hoping for something, just a sign that would show Travis was still alive so she could tell him how much she still loved him. All Natalie could see was his blood smearing under him, soaking into her clothes, covering her hands. She held her breath, listening again for something, anything, to happen. Nothing did. All she could hear was the wind, the wind.. the leaves rustling.. The feeling of cool sticky blood settling into her skin.

She finally let herself breathe, her exhale turning into a scream. Letting all the air in her lungs rush out till it hurts. She dug her nails into his dirty blood soaked jacket. Still desperately trying to find any spec of warmth.. When that desperate attempt failed, she let go of his jacket and curled up against his chest, the smell of his blood overtaking everything.

Her cries slowed. The sun was starting to fall creating rays of golden sunlight through the plane windows. She sat up, the cold fall air burned her lungs causing goosebumps to form over her skin. It had been dawn when she got to the plane, she had spent hours just laying on Travis's chest, begging for him to wake up. It never came, he just got colder, and colder. Natalie scooted back, sitting on her knees. Her stomach growled loud, the painful hunger coming back front and center since her attention wasn't occupied by crying.

You need to eat. He's right there, all to yourself.

Natalie shook her head, hitting the ground next to her "Shut the FUCK UP." she screamed out. Those were not her thoughts.. A dead body isnt just food.. he's a person, a.. real.. cold.. dead…. She looked at her hands, the blood covered every crack and crevice. The urge to taste..

This is a way to show your love. A perfect way to go. You know you want to Natalie.

Her eyes were locked on his chest. She could imagine what it would feel like, cutting him open, the knife slicing through skin, fat, muscle. Cracking his sternum, ripping tissue apart with her bare hands. Biting down on the muscle.. She had butchered Ben months before, but that was dressing an animal.. this time.. she imagined it would be very different. She'd known Travis intimately, she'd loved him. This was the most intimate anybody could get, ripping open their chest and eating their heart.

She spotted the knife Travis used to slice his arteries. She crawled over, straddling him. She took the knife from his side. The large sharp knife was Shauna's she always kept it with her. She was going to wonder where it went..

Natalie began undressing Travis's torso. Desperate to satisfy this hunger inside her. The ache was so big she could hardly breathe. Realizing she hadn't eaten a good meal in weeks. "fuck it." she said as she finally got to his grey disgusting T-shirt. She grabbed the middle of the shirt and ripped, easily splitting it down the middle…

Finally, she could see his bare tan chest. She placed one of her freezing hands on his chest, no more warmth to warm her, no heart beating blood.. She moved her hand to stabilize the knife in her other hand. Taking a shaky deep breath she rammed down the blade where his collarbones met, she dragged it down, screaming as she heard Travis's flesh rip.

After trial and error, she had gotten to his heart. Travis's beautiful organ stared at her through broken ribs, the heart that loved too much. The heart that couldn't take the trauma anymore. She dropped the knife. bringing her hands into his chest cavity, she gripped at the arteries, ripping and tearing the flesh, the rest of the blood that hadn't spilt out through his wrists covering her. Nothing was left clean around her. Her vision was clouded with red, all she could see was red.

She finally had gotten his heart free. She stared down at the red muscle. Tears streamed down her face as she leaned in, digging her teeth into Travis's lifeline. Savoring the metallic gamey taste. She continued digging in, her cries becoming audible growls as she let all her animal instincts out. The agony, the hunger, all flowing out in a feral show of love.
