Chapter Text

Hey, amazing readers! Welcome to Eternal Bond! I’m beyond excited to share this The Vampire Diaries AU, blending the supernatural drama with Elixis Urroxis, my alien OC. Born on September 30, 1971, on the wealthy planet Cryollus, Elixis - eldest daughter of cold president Threxius and first lady Aeloria Urroxis - was raised by her kind grandmother, Erridyn, who nurtured her magical gifts. After her sister Novaria’s birth in 1980, Cryollus was destroyed, and Elixis, sent away, spent 20 years in the Spectral Void, frozen at age nine. Landing in Mystic Falls in 2000, she’s adopted by Francine Morgan. She befriends Elena, Caroline, Bonnie, and more, hiding her powers - super strength, speed, flight, invulnerability, and spellcasting - while stirring trouble with her tomboyish, rebellious streak.

This fic will first dive into Season 2’s supernatural chaos. Expect lots of updates, some canon tweaks, and lots of angst and action! Your kudos, comments, and theories about Elixis’s place in Mystic Falls fuel this cosmic ride. Thanks for reading!

CHAPTER ONE

The hospital’s sterile scent of antiseptic and faint bleach clung to the air as Elixis stepped through the sliding glass doors, her presence commanding the quiet hum of the waiting area. She wore a sleek, dark grey matching set that moved with her like a second skin - a long-sleeve, off-shoulder crop top that hugged her torso, its hem teasing the curve of her waist, paired with high-waisted, wide-leg pants that flowed like liquid charcoal with every step. The pants’ drawstring cinched loosely at her hips, swaying gently as she walked, and the deep side pockets held the faint outline of her phone. A black crossbody bag hung across her chest, its leather strap cutting a sharp line against the soft grey fabric, and her white sneakers squeaked faintly on the polished linoleum floor. Her hair, a cascade of glossy light brown braids, shimmered under the fluorescent lights - some strands swept back in a neat half-up style, others spilling over her shoulders like a protective curtain.

Elixis’s dark eyes scanned the room, landing on Bonnie and Matt huddled near a vending machine, their voices low but urgent. Bonnie’s arms were crossed, her brow furrowed, while Matt leaned against the wall, his baseball cap tilted slightly askew. Elixis’s lips curved into a warm smile as she approached, her sneakers announcing her arrival with soft squeaks.

"Hey, you two," she called, her voice bright but tinged with the weight of the night before. She opened her arms, pulling Bonnie into a quick, tight hug, her braids brushing against Bonnie’s cheek. Then she turned to Matt, wrapping him in a brief but firm embrace, her hands lingering on his shoulders. "You’ve been camped out here all night, haven’t you, Matt?"

He gave a tired nod, rubbing the back of his neck. "Pretty much. Sheriff Forbes was here until, like, twenty minutes ago. Kept me company for a bit."

Bonnie’s eyes flicked to Elixis, sharp and searching. "Anyone else show up?" Her tone carried an unspoken question, one rooted in the tense conversation they’d had the night before. Elixis had pushed hard for Damon to slip Caroline some of his blood to heal her injuries from the car wreck - a decision Elena had resisted until Bonnie and Elixis tag-teamed her into agreeing. Damon wasn’t exactly their favorite person, but desperate times called for desperate measures.

Matt shifted, his sneakers scuffing the floor. "Well… Stefan’s brother rolled in last night. Damon." His voice held a mix of wariness and confusion, and Elixis and Bonnie exchanged a quick, loaded glance, their shared secret humming between them like a live wire.

Elixis’s heart gave a little lurch. "How’s Caroline doing?" she asked, her voice softer now, threaded with worry.

Matt jerked his thumb toward the hallway. "Come see for yourself. She’s awake." He led the way, his broad shoulders slouched with fatigue but his steps steady, guiding them through the maze of beige corridors to Caroline’s room.

The moment they stepped inside, relief crashed over Elixis like a wave. Caroline sat propped up in the hospital bed, her blonde hair fanned out against the pillow, a faint flush of color back in her cheeks. The room smelled faintly of iodine and the roses someone had left on the bedside table, their petals drooping slightly in the dry hospital air. Caroline’s eyes lit up when she saw them, and a grin spread across her face, bright enough to rival the sunlight streaming through the window.

"Jersey Shore’s on," she announced, pointing at the small TV mounted on the wall, where tanned reality stars argued loudly. Her voice was weaker than usual but carried that familiar Caroline spark.

Bonnie and Elixis didn’t hesitate. They rushed to the bed, enveloping Caroline in a tangle of arms and soft laughter. "Careful, I’m still a little tender," Caroline said with a wince, her hands gently pushing at Bonnie’s shoulders. Bonnie pulled back immediately, her eyes wide with apology, but Elixis only tightened her hold, burying her face in Caroline’s hair. The familiar scent of her friend’s coconut shampoo grounded her, chasing away the knot of fear that had been lodged in her chest since the accident.

Caroline let out a breathy laugh, even as she groaned. "Lex, you’re gonna smother me! I know you’re, like, superhuman or whatever, but ease up before you crack a rib." She dropped her voice to a conspiratorial whisper, her eyes darting toward Matt, who was lingering near the door. Elixis had confided in Caroline months ago about her… unusual strength, a secret now shared with Bonnie and Elena but kept tightly guarded from everyone else. Caroline wasn’t about to let it slip, especially not to her boyfriend.

Elixis pulled back, her eyes glassy with unshed tears. "Sorry, Care," she murmured, her voice thick. She leaned in again, pressing a flurry of soft kisses across Caroline’s forehead and cheeks, earning a giggle from her friend. "I was so scared," she admitted, her hands still resting lightly on Caroline’s shoulders.

Matt watched the scene with a small, contented smile, his arms crossed loosely over his chest. There’d been a time, early in his relationship with Caroline, when seeing her and Elixis so close had sparked a flicker of jealousy. Caroline had been upfront about their past - a single, fleeting hookup that had never turned into anything more. But now, Matt understood the bond for what it was: a friendship forged in fire, unshakable and deep. He’d let go of the insecurity, reassured by Caroline’s insistence that her heart was his, and that Elixis was family, nothing more.

Caroline’s eyes widened as she caught sight of the tears streaking down Bonnie’s and Elixis’s faces. "Whoa, hold up - why are you guys crying?" she asked, her voice a mix of confusion and concern as she pushed herself up higher on the pillows.

Matt stepped forward, slinging an arm around Bonnie’s and Elixis’s shoulders, pulling them into a quick, comforting squeeze before letting go. "They’re just happy you’re okay, Care."

Bonnie sniffled, wiping her eyes with the back of her hand. "We were so worried, Caroline. You have no idea."

Elixis nodded, her braids swaying as she reached for Caroline’s hand, squeezing it gently. "You’re not allowed to scare me like that again, got it? I need you here, Care. No checking out on me."

Caroline’s lips quirked into a playful smile, and she tossed her hair with a dramatic flair that was pure her. "Oh, please. I’m not going anywhere. I’m too fabulous to leave you guys hanging." Her voice softened, her eyes bright with affection. "Love you guys."

"Love you too," Elixis, Bonnie, and Matt said in unison, their voices overlapping as they took turns leaning in for gentle hugs, careful not to jostle Caroline’s still-healing body. The room felt warmer now, the weight of the night lifting as the three friends held onto each other, the TV droning on in the background, a quiet reminder that life was still here, still theirs.

A couple of hours ticked by before Elixis and Bonnie pulled up to the sprawling Lockwood estate, its grand columns and manicured lawns shrouded in the somber hush of Richard Lockwood's funeral. The air hung heavy with the scent of fresh-cut flowers and distant rain, the kind that threatened to turn the afternoon into a muddy affair. Elixis barely spared a thought for the late mayor himself - he'd been a pompous figurehead, all bluster and small-town politics - but he was Tyler's old man, and Tyler... well, he occupied this weird limbo in her life, not quite a close confidant, but someone she'd shared enough late-night confessions with to feel a twinge of obligation. Bonnie, ever the empathetic one, scanned the crowd with those sharp, knowing eyes of hers, and it didn't take long for her to zero in on Damon. He'd just wrapped up a murmured exchange with Sheriff Forbes - Liz, to those who knew her - and was sauntering toward the long banquet table laden with platters of finger sandwiches, crystal punch bowls brimming with crimson liquid that looked suspiciously like spiked fruit juice, and trays of delicate pastries dusted with powdered sugar.

Bonnie's face hardened like storm clouds gathering, and she marched straight over, her heels clicking sharply against the polished hardwood floor of the veranda. She wasn't about to let Damon bask in that self-satisfied glow, acting like some knight in tarnished armor just because he'd swooped in to save Caroline at the eleventh hour. In her book, that didn't erase the ledger of sins - he was still the monster who'd slithered into town like a shadow, leaving chaos in his wake. Elixis shared that fire in her gut; Damon grated on her nerves like nails on a chalkboard. From the moment he'd blown back into Mystic Falls that crisp September, he'd turned the place upside down - turning people into puppets, draining them dry without a second thought. And Caroline? God, that still burned. He'd sunk his fangs into her neck time and again, twisting her mind with compulsion until she was dancing to his tune like a marionette. Elixis had intervened once, bursting into that dimly lit room just in time to yank Caroline away from what could've been a nightmare etched into her soul forever. She'd naively believed that would be the end of it, that Damon would slink off to torment someone else. But weeks later, the truth clawed its way out: he'd kept at it, feeding, compelling, erasing memories like they were scribbles on a notepad. The rage had boiled over then. Elixis had dragged him into that void of space she'd conjured - a starless expanse where the cold vacuum clawed at his lungs. She'd watched with a grim satisfaction as his eyes bulged, his body convulsing in silent agony, only for her to let him gasp back to life moments later. Over and over, the cycle repeated, his pleas turning from defiant snarls to broken whimpers until mercy felt like a distant memory.

She'd craved his end, the final snap of his neck or the stake through his heart. But Stefan... Stefan was different, a steady anchor in her stormy world, and for his sake, she'd held back, letting the hatred simmer instead of explode.

As Bonnie laid into Damon - her voice a low, fierce hiss that cut through the murmur of condolences - Elixis drifted over to Liz. Their bond was easy, woven from years of Elixis crashing at Caroline's place, the two girls giggling over homework and secrets while Liz brewed coffee in the kitchen. Francine Morgan, Elixis's adoptive mom with her warm hugs and no-nonsense advice, had struck up a casual friendship with Liz over PTA meetings and neighborhood barbecues - not the spill-your-guts kind, but solid enough for shared laughs and occasional favors. They chatted now about the turnout, the weather, the way grief clung to the air like fog, but Elixis's attention wandered. Bonnie had vanished from her line of sight. With a polite "Excuse me, Sheriff - I think I lost track of my friend," she slipped away, weaving through clusters of mourners in dark suits and dresses, the faint clink of glasses and subdued chatter fading as she pushed into the kitchen.

There, pressed against the cool tile wall amid the gleam of stainless steel counters and the aroma of brewing coffee, was Bonnie - her eyes wide with alarm, throat caught in the vise grip of someone who looked exactly like Elena. But Elixis knew better in an instant; the posture was all wrong, too predatory, too smug. Katherine. Without a heartbeat's hesitation, Elixis channeled her power, slamming an aneurysm into the vampire's skull like a psychic hammer. Katherine's grip faltered, her face twisting in a grimace that escalated to guttural moans, then full-throated sobs as the pain radiated through her like fire in her veins.

"Well, if it isn't the notorious tramp who toyed with the Salvatore boys like they were her personal playthings," Elixis spat, her voice dripping with venom as she closed the distance, boots thudding softly on the linoleum. Bonnie, gasping and massaging the red marks blooming on her neck, stared in stunned silence. Elixis seized Katherine's chin in a bruising hold, yanking her head up to meet those tear-streaked eyes. "Hmm. Gotta say, Elena's got you beat in the looks department - hands down."

Katherine's eyes burned with a feral intensity as she locked gazes with Elixis, her body still convulsing from the searing agony of the aneurysm spell ripping through her veins like molten lava. But in a blur of defiance that caught both Elixis and Bonnie off guard, she shattered the magical hold with a guttural snarl, her muscles coiling like a predator's. Before Elixis could even blink, Katherine's hand shot out, fingers digging into Elixis's forearm with bruising force, and hurled her across the room like a discarded rag doll. Elixis slammed into the wall with a thud that rattled the cabinets, her momentum carrying her straight into a delicate side table. The antique vase perched atop it - a fragile thing of hand-painted porcelain, etched with swirling floral patterns - teetered for a heartbeat before crashing to the tiled floor in a cascade of sharp shards, scattering like brittle confetti. Elixis groaned, her head spinning from the impact, and when she finally pried her eyelids open, the kitchen was empty save for the lingering echo of Katherine's escape; the vampire had vanished into thin air, leaving only a faint chill in the air and the scent of her lingering perfume, a mix of jasmine and something darker, like aged blood.

"Oh God, Elixis, that looked brutal - are you alright?" Bonnie rushed over, her heart pounding in her chest as she knelt beside her friend, her hands hovering uncertainly before gently helping Elixis to her feet. The witch's face was flushed with concern, her green eyes wide under the harsh fluorescent lights of the kitchen.

Elixis shook her head sharply, brushing off invisible dust from her jacket, her breath coming in short, frustrated huffs. The sting from the throw had faded almost instantly, leaving no bruises or aches behind - just a boiling rage that made her cheeks burn. "I'm fine, physically. But what the actual hell? How is she overpowering me like that? She's supposed to be outmatched - I thought I had the edge in speed and raw power."

Bonnie frowned, her mind racing as she glanced toward the shattered remnants on the floor, the pieces glinting like jagged teeth. "I have no idea. Weren't you always saying Cryollians outpace vampires in every way? Strength, agility, the works?"

"Apparently not today," Elixis muttered, her voice laced with bitter sarcasm as she rubbed her arm absentmindedly, the spot where Katherine had grabbed her still tingling faintly. She let out a heavy sigh, the weight of confusion settling over her like a fog.

The sharp click of heels on the hardwood floor announced Carol's arrival before she even stepped into the kitchen. She froze in the doorway, her perfectly manicured hand flying to her mouth as her eyes landed on the wreckage. The vase - or what was left of it - lay in ruins, its once-vibrant colors now muted against the cold tiles. "What on earth happened here?" she demanded, her voice a mix of shock and simmering anger. Her gaze darted accusingly between Elixis and Bonnie, her lips pursing into a thin line that accentuated the fine lines around her mouth. "That vase... it was a cherished gift from my late husband, given on our tenth anniversary. Irreplaceable. Who is responsible for this mess?"

Elixis bit back a sarcastic retort, forcing her expression into something neutral, though her fingers twitched with irritation. "That would be me," she admitted flatly, meeting Carol's glare without flinching.

Carol's eyes narrowed into slits, her posture stiffening like a coiled spring as she crossed her arms over her silk blouse. "Well, young lady, your mother will be hearing all about this. And mark my words, that vase will be replaced - one way or another. I don't care if you have to scour every antique shop in the state." With that, she spun on her heel and stormed out, her footsteps echoing down the hallway like retreating thunder.

The moment Carol was out of earshot, Elixis let out a derisive snort, rolling her eyes so hard it almost hurt. "Please, as if she ever truly cared about that man. Acting all heartbroken over a dusty old pot."

Bonnie nodded, a wry smile tugging at her lips as she leaned against the counter, the cool granite grounding her amid the chaos. "Totally. It's all for show, isn't it? Can't risk the town gossip mill catching wind that she's secretly relieved he's six feet under. Image is everything in Mystic Falls."

Elixis straightened up, her mind shifting gears as she dusted off her hands, the adrenaline from the scuffle still buzzing in her veins. "Speaking of messes, what do we do about Katherine now? Why the hell is she even lurking around here? You think she's the one who put John in the hospital bed?"

"Could be," Bonnie replied thoughtfully, her fingers drumming a restless rhythm on the countertop. "She's got motive written all over her. Either way, we can't keep this quiet - we have to loop in Elena right away."
