Chapter Text
Black and white.
Darkness and Light.
Evil and Good.
Devil and Angel.
In this world, society was ruled by stereotypes. Everyone was born with an assigned role that would determine your fate in life. Females were pure, innocent and beautiful, submissive, men were brutal, strong, feelingless and dominant. Everyone wanted to appeal the society and stay unnoticed to the system. Behave, act like your role. That was the first unspoken rule in the world everyone was obeying.
Reaching your fourteenth birthday, everyone received the life changing pearls, taking the color of your sex and carving your life for good, the carved chess figures in the before blank pearls marked your social status. These shades and roles, assigned at birth would activate on a person’s fourteenth birthday. A gene mutation that scientists had taken dozens of years to perfect until everyone belonged to the chess system.
This way, the entire world could be controlled by one system alone.
Black for men, white for women. Purity and Darkness displayed on the wrists of the humans and mercilessly sorting them into different categories.
The lowest of the lowest, the least powerful were the Chess Pawns, working the least wanted jobs like cleaners, maids, land workers or waiters and basically forced to become servants to the higher Chess figures. They lived in their own area, often enough not being allowed to receive an education after 14, unless they had money which often enough wasn't the case. Therefore, being born in a Chess Pawn family would already set the future as children of Chess Pawns most commonly became the same as their parents as they didn't have enough money to change their destiny.
The Chess Pawns took up 40% of the society.
Only in rare cases, they could free themselves from the forced future and become Chess Knights, responsible for safety and security, working as guards, either in prison or as protectors, police officers or bodyguards. The Knights were the second lowest figures in power but they were respected, because they protected society and secured the orders of the government.
The Chess Knights took up 25% of society.
They were followed by the bishops, allowed to study and become artists, photographers, models, authors and . Only up from the Bishops, people were allowed to study in university and college, after finishing the basic education in the schools that were open for everyone. Bishops had to pay a small amount of student fees to be allowed to study, the sum depending on where they lived, how much income their parents had and where they wanted to study.
The Chess Bishops are the creativity of the society and took up 20% of the society.
The Chess rooks were excluded from this rule, ranking right after the natural rulers and taking over the spots of doctors, teachers, diplomats, professors and all the jobs lined with education. Responsible for education and the world of medicine, they were highly respected.
These were rare, only taking up 10% of society and forming the step figures before the elite.
The elite, formed by the Chess Kings and Queens, were the natural rulers. They were the government, the politicians, the leaders, the CEOs in any high position. They lived in mansions, ate from porcelain and lived the luxurious most humans could only dream of.
Naturally, the elite took up only 5% in total, the Chess Queens at 3% and the Chess Kings, the most powerful and the ones to rule everything, stayed at 2%.
Black Chess figures rightfully belonged to the men, the powerful sex. The Black Chess Queen was known as Lord, actually ranking higher than the White Chess Queens.
A system built by men, was only made to rule by men, apparently.
And inside this world, exceptions and rarities could lead to your death.
You were not allowed to lie about your status, especially not change it, because if that was revealed, you were punished by death for going against the system. The systems did not tolerate exceptions or special cases.
In even this brutal, categorizing world, change was weakness.
And born into the Chess system was Kim Taehyung, a white Chess Queen.
There were cases known of females receiving a male role and vice versa but they were rare. Rarities were found and wiped out.
Taehyung wasn't, because his mother decided to do the most punishable and hid his identity to prevent her Baby boy from being taken. She changed his pearls, naturally given in black to a male, made them as black as the night sky and told him to never open his mouth about it.
Taehyung was a good child and obeyed his mother. He hid the revealing symbol of a white Chess Queen on his pearls, attended the classes for black Chess Bishops like his brother and smiled through the pain that has broken his family apart. His elder brother Kim Namjoon was protecting his brother during school and when he graduated, he continued to take care of his beloved brother. Because Taehyung was a dove.
These rare cases, the male white Chess Queens were called doves, because they were the most innocent and the most beautiful creatures in the world. Coming of age, Taehyung turned into a stunning male and he was always stared at for his unbelievable beauty. He grew used to it, taught by his mother to not pay the stares much importance.
Taehyung's and Namjoon's mum was a Queen, a white Chess Queen. She was a proud, independent woman, their father a Lord, a black Chess Queen.
Finding out their youngest was a rare dove, a white male Chess Queen drove them apart. Their father divorced their mother, because he suddenly saw Taehyung as a disgrace, an inhumanity. Their mother didn't. She loved her precious Baby boy even more.
Yet there was a problem. How could she teach her Baby boy all the necessary things now? He was different, he was a white Queen. And the stereotypical society did not hold rules for these rarities.
So his mother decided, that she would teach him everything her mother taught her.
With his identity hidden, Taehyung should've been able to live a normal life and hope his secret was never going to be discovered.
Until he fell into the focus of Jeon Jungkook, a black Chess King and the King of Kings. Why? Because he was the Heir to the biggest mafia empire, the Jeon empire. At the mere age of 20, he inherited the Mafia from his father and took over the world, expanding his territories until he was as powerful as the governments.
In all his darkness, Jungkook was craving for a light, his right hand trying to find him the perfect woman, innocence as pure as the first dew in the morning, something Jungkook could ruin. A purity that could be crushed under his palms. Someone to be turned Queen by his side, because on top of the world, Jungkook felt lonely.
Driving through the city of Seoul, Jungkook came across a park. And he demanded for his driver to halt, a sudden madness taking a hold of his body. Suddenly, he could not stand being in the luxurious insides of his car, he wanted the sky above his head. Getting out of the car and stalking to the park, carelessly walking over the grass, Jungkook did not see the bag crossing his path.
He stumbled over it, nearly falling and he spun around in anger, ready to kill the bag's owner.
"You should be more careful, you walk as if the world belongs to you."
And oh, was Jungkook not ready to be encountering an angel. There, on a small pink blanket, sat the incarnation of beauty, light caressing his golden skin, his golden hair and his bright green eyes. The boy looked like he was painted. The scoff on his face and the adorable nose scrunched cutely looked absolutely endearing.
"The world does belong to me,” Jungkook said slowly, now coming to the delightful realization that this angel did not know who he was, judging from the look on his face.
"You are very cocky, you look my age,” he remarked and Jungkook chuckled, pushing long silver hair out of his eyes. His brow piercing sparked up.
Where Jungkook preferred silver, the boy was gold. He looked like how Jungkook imagined a soft summer breeze after a rain to look, calming and beautiful. This boy should become his.
"I could be your age, Sweetheart. Would you want to rule the world with me?”
The boy laughed, a happy sound making its way to Jungkook's heart.
"Be more careful next time, the fall from your high horse would be long,” he teased before abandoning Jungkook's presence and focusing back on his book. Jungkook was speechless. He has never been ignored before.
What an amusing feeling.
"I will see you again,” he promised the boy but he was ignored, only a soft smile indicating that his words have been listened to.
That meeting made Jeon Jungkook direct his focus elsewhere and it was focused on the angel he met in that park.
Who was none other than Kim Taehyung, the hidden male white Chess Queen.

"There was a weird man in the park today,” Taehyung said when he returned home and his brother looked up from his book in concern.
"Did he do something to you? Tried flirting with you or something?” Kim Namjoon asked his beloved baby brother concerned. Taehyung shook his head softly, walking up to his brother to press a kiss to his fluffy ashblonde hair.
"No, he fell over my bag and looked like it has personally offended him, it was actually pretty funny but the way he was acting was simply weird and off putting. He behaved like he expected the world to resolve around him,” the blonde told his brother and fell next to him on the couch.
"Sounds like a weirdo to me, must be a Chess Rook,” Namjoon commented in a teasing tone, referring to their closest friends.
Park Jimin and Jung Hoseok, both black Chess Rooks, were the only ones knowing about Taehyung's real identity and it was more of a coincidence that they got to know. But they promised to keep the secret safe with them and didn't disappoint the brothers ever since. Could also be because the both of them had a burning crush on Taehyung's oblivious brother.
It was funny how Namjoon, the most intelligent guy Taehyung knew, could not see the painful pining the two others have been doing for years now. When that was mentioned to him, Namjoon would blush and swat it away as if it meant nothing.
"Heard anything from Momma?” Taehyung asked, looking around in the bright and spacious living room, the presence of his mother clearly missing.
"She said she's going to be busy for the rest of the day. She left us money in the kitchen, you wanna order pizza later?” Namjoon nudged his baby brother and Taehyung giggled before glancing at his watch.
"Sure, I only have one class today, I'm free after that. Jiminie was going to pick me up, is that alright? Hoseokie can join as well,” the blonde said and Namjoon nodded. He picked up his book again and Taehyung knew he would only get one or two replies from his brother until he was lost in the book once more.
"Good plan,” Namjoon said, already falling into the fantasy world of his book, completely forgetting the reality around him. Taehyung sighed, playfully ruffling his brother's hair before leaving the room and getting ready for his class.
Taehyung was a music student, free to take any creative course as a Chess 'Bishop'. He hated this pretend game but it was for his safety and the safety of his family. Thanks to his Momma, his pearls were black. Had its perks to have a white Chess Queen as mother, no one would question one of the elite.
The two brothers grew up spoiled, their father a black Chess Queen, a Lord. They lived in a beautiful mansion in the elite area of the city, never had to worry about food, clothes or money and were free to do what they pleased. Still, children stared at them, elderly people crossed the street to not meet them.
Because the paradise was nothing but an idyll, desperately kept up by his mother to hide their broken family.
Taehyung's father had left them on the day of Taehyung's fourteenth birthday. He left like a coward because he could not bear looking at his youngest son who was a rarity, abnormal. Taehyung never understood why he left, his Momma telling him that he couldn't deal with how special he was.
Or maybe couldn't deal with the fact that he lost another child.
Because the Kims had another son.
Kim Seokjin, a black Chess King, Taehyung's eldest brother who had disappeared when Taehyung had been ten years old. He was never seen again but there wasn't any day where Taehyung wasn't missing his Hyung.

Jungkook was annoyed. It's been days since that event in the park has occurred and he hasn't stopped thinking about the boy ever since. How was that even possible? Nothing has been able to gather his attention, the most beautiful women have been begging to get a call from him but this strange... angel got under his skin so easily, with just a little flutter from his eyes.
The Chess King snarled, harshly getting up from his chair, the ends scratching over the expensive marble floor but Jungkook didn't pay it any mind. His right hand lifted his head, previously torturing a rat, the tied up man whimpering silently in pain.
"What bit into your ass?” Cha Eunwoo, plunging a nail into the man's right hand.
Luckily, he couldn't scream, Eunwoo already removed his tongue.
"Something's been corrupting my mind... or more, like someone. That boy from the park,” Jungkook groaned, rubbing over his forehead annoyed.
"Aw, the doll you told me about? You want me to get him?” Eunwoo asked teasingly. He was a black Chess Knight and only loyal to Jungkook, his best friend since the beginning.
The two grew up together because Jungkook's father wanted his son to have someone he could trust with his life. That someone was Eunwoo, his best friend for life. Always ready to jump to his assistance.
"I don't need you to get him for me, I wanna get him myself. Want to make him mine,” Jungkook growled out, his possessive being coming forward. He always received everything he wanted, he was spoiled and used to get what he wanted.
And Jungkook wanted that beautiful male who looked at him without any care in the world.
"Alright, you got his name or something?” Eunwoo asked, shaking the now unconscious man.
"Aye, I think he died,” was his comment when he pushed his head.
"Throw him in the trash, the rat gave us every info we wanted,” Jungkook replied, bored by the rat already because his mind was focusing on something much more exciting.
“I think he's the one, Eunwoo. I saw him and was instantly thrilled. He's gorgeous but I saw personality too. And this innocence in his eyes... I want to ruin that,” Jungkook groaned and his right hand chuckled.
"Then what's stopping you from taking him as yours?"
Jungkook's lips turned into a devilish smirk.
"Nothing."
